how your future spouse will act around you
left to right(top)-> 1,2
left to right(bottom)-> 3,4
°DO NOT take this as literal, take everything with a grain of salt as this is purely and intendedly for entertainment purposes.
°Don't be afraid to give feedback and opinions about this post (as i would entirely appreciate it).
PILE 1-
i definitely see them being more them around you, like they are going to be so comfortable around you that how they act around you differs from when they are around other people. I see them literally having no restrictions around you, they will not be afraid to show their true personality and humour. i feel like this will be so important to them because they might have been judged with the way that they acted or were judged by just being themselves by previous relationships or friendships, for you, they are thankful and can actually live freely.
They will definitely also learn so many things from you, for example i see you telling them something and them not understanding so they will bring that up because they want to know what you know. or they cannot stand not knowing what you mean because they fully want to understand you. yeah, they will love to get to know you on a deeper soulmate kinda way. they will love experiencing new surprises from you by simply learning new things about you, that will excite them.
i see them being the type of person who ask 'have you eaten yet?' or 'have you taken your vitamins today?'. your health will matter so much to them, seeing you unwell will physically hurt them. if you answer no to any of the questions they will automatically act upon them. they do care about your well-being however they might not be so cutesy about it because for them it is a serious matter. so they might act very serious about situations like that. but that's only because they care so much about you.
i feel like their character will develop while being with you. i feel like they might pick up on some habits or characteristics that you have. for example, if your habit consists of biting your bottom lip when nervous, they will acknowledge that and start to do that too.
your fs will NOT be afraid to express their raw feelings towards you. they will constantly praise and compliment you so much that you might get tired from hearing it loll😭.
that is it for you PILE 1, hope you enjoyed that!!
PILE 2-
oh, they will be chaotic around you. they might tend to play fights, picking you up from the ground, teasing you etcc. however, i do think that playing around like that heals their inner child as such. they might also do questionable things that may shock you. like i see you two chilling and watching a movie and them randomly standing up and doing their skincare without mentioning anything.
they will constantly want to do everything with you, like their mindset is something like, if i have to see it you have to too, or if you go i want to go too. its mostly because they cant seem to imagine themselves being 5 minutes away from you 😂. no but for real, i honestly just feel like they find your time together precious and don't want to miss opportunities with you. they will be the type to take you on daily trips everywhere, like i mentioned before, they will love to spend time with you, especially while discovering new cute places.
i feel like same with pile 1, they will worry a lot about your health and constantly have to check up on you. like if sometimes you forget to eat breakfast or if they see a bruise that you didn't even know was there, they will freak out about it and will act like something major happened.
i see them being very honest around you, they will answer to your questions honestly and truthfully and i feel like if there are lies withing a relationship it is not sincere. i do see them being clingy though, like if they had a bad day and came back home they instantly hug and cuddle you to make them feel better. or if you are cleaning up they just come up to you and start hugging you.
that's everything for you PILE 2, hope you liked your reading!
PILE 3-
will have a stable view and way of doing things around you. will be humble and professional. i feel like they will be a very down to earth person who is quite traditional in terms of relationships. they are very loyal to your needs however, they may have a little routine that they do every morning or any other time of the day, for example may take out the trash in the early morning so you wont have to and let you sleep in or something like that. i feel like silent acts of service are their thing. they might not like to be in the spotlight and keep a rather low profile wherever they are.
might be quite nosey lol, may want to know what you are doing at what time. or may want to know what you are looking at on your phone and so on.
may express their love to you often, like you make them levitate when they look at you. but may be shy about it. like they'll only do it when they cant keep it in anymore then blush after they say it🥹. they are someone who would proudly admire you and talk sweetly about you to other people rather than directly to you.
may like to spoil you though, may take you out to dinner every week or book to go to a fancy restaurant once in a while. or whenever you show them something that you like, they remember and buy you the exact same thing without asking you about it. i feel like they would definitely tend to show their love for you by doing things for you rather than talking about it and so forth.
they might be afraid to disappoint you and are afraid to fail. but they are very good at easing tension, so whenever you feel stressed they know how to make you feel better.
yeah, i don't think they are good at communicating or may limit themselves due to the fear of letting you down. however, they might not take it lightly when you expose them on what they did wrong, they might not be into being tutored.
that is all for you PILE 3!!
PILE 4-
they tend to avoid direct confrontation. they definitely do not like conflict and will leave the situation if it gets heated. also, are very open to fix mistakes, they may ask about your opinion quite a lot and act upon your choices.
are very open to sharing their emotions and thoughts, they are not patient and may just say things that are on their mind. they may be an anxious human being and may seek help. they may like to talk about their mental health and ask your opinion of what to do about it to help. overall i think your opinion matters a lot to your fs!
they love sharing their ethic and moral beliefs to you. or they may be interested in getting to know about your beliefs. they also may be interested of your cultural background and may be eager to learn new languages and try different cultural foods. they may even like to listen to songs from other countries. they may also love to practise their traditions around you.
they may have difficulty concentrating and focusing so when they are told something they may be spaced out thinking about something else, you know?
they may also be the type of person who rejects offers easily, they may have social anxiety or anxiety in general so it may be difficult for them to leave the house. so that may start arguments between you two because you see the potential in them but they are just too afraid to persuade it and don't do anything about it.
that's it for you PILE 4!
I hope you all enjoyed this post❣️ please don't be shy to interact and share some of your thoughts on this post!!! thank you for reading💓

Gold chain (pt1) | Leah Williamson
Leah Williamson x tennis player!reader For the past year, Leah had been a big fan of yours, and now her mother wasn't missing any opportunity to tease her during Roland Garros. warnings: none, just fluff and slow burn note: this one is long (maybe?), sorry about that. The next part has more Leah and reader interactions, I promise. This was written with an oc, i changed everything at the last minute so sorry if there are any mistakes there,, pt2 my masterlist
Leah Williamson, England captain, European champion, Miss Arsenal.
That was how she was publicly recognised within the world of football, a sport that had always been her passion, but lately, or rather, since she had been invited to Wimbledon in 2023, she had begun to share some of that passion with tennis.
She explained to everyone that she fell in love with tennis during a deep conversation with the legendary Billie Jean King. While there was truth to that, tennis didn't captivate her so much because of the sport itself, but rather because of a certain player, who since that Wimbledon semifinal, Leah had watched almost all of her matches.
“Believe me, that girl Y/N is great, don't let this match fool you” Billie had muttered to her after witnessing your unfortunate loss in the last set.
And who was Leah to doubt the words of the greatest tennis player in history?
Since then, Leah has managed to watch as many of your matches as possible. And yes, you were undeniably beautiful, but what truly captivated Leah was the elegance with which you played. Each swing of your racket held a mesmerizing grace that left Leah spellbound every time.
And now, with a break after the final game of the European qualifiers, it was the opportunity for a holiday.
"Hey, Leah!" Georgia barged into her room on the last day of camp, now that they were back in England. "Got any plans for this week?"
"Yeah," Leah replied, without giving any details, more focused on packing her suitcase than engaging in conversation with her friend.
"Where? With who?" Georgia asked, raising her eyebrows suggestively. She knew Leah tended to keep her romantic interactions with girls in private, not just from the public but even from her own friends.
"With my mom, you idiot," Leah replied, rolling her eyes. "We're headed to France."
"Now? What's so interesting about France?" she asked, with a look of disgust on her face. Sure, there were plenty of interesting things to do in France, but Georgia didn't want to hear anything related to that country for a couple of days.
"Roland Garros? Does that ring a bell for you?" Leah retorted, her tone laced with sarcasm.
"Huh? Since when do you go to another country for a tennis match?"
"My mom likes it" Leah lied smoothly, without any hint of shame. If only Georgia knew that Leah had sweetened the deal for her mother with promises of fine wines and breathtaking views post-match.
"Well, that's too bad... but text me if your plans change,"
Leah nodded, though it was in vain because she wouldn't change going to France to see her favorite tennis player.
"Who are we rooting for?" Amanda said, taking a sip of her drink, not really interested in what was happening on the clay.
"Uh, we're impartial," Leah said, settling back in her seat.
Four games had already been played, each player winning their respective games.
"I have a feeling we're rooting for the girl in the white visor," her mother said.
Leah looked at her, pulling her sunglasses down a little. "What?"
"Well, you make a face every time the other player makes a point."
Leah said nothing to that comment, her attention had returned to you, now one point away from managing to break your opponent's serve. It was an important match, a semifinal, so every point would be valuable to put you in the final of the tournament.
Still not saying anything back to her mother, Leah held her breath for a few seconds. The ball was going back and forth across the court, but you, with impressive precision, hit the ball with a spin that made it graze the top of the net. For a moment, it seemed like it might fall short, but the ball dropped just over, catching your opponent off guard.
"Wonderful" muttered Leah, crossing her arms with a smile, ready to enjoy the rest of the match.
There were times when tennis was mentally overwhelming. You felt this every time you played, and it had cost you a lot of matches in the past. A whole court filled with hundreds of people, all watching you, many anxiously waiting for you to make a mistake that could cost you the match. It was more than overwhelming.
That's why, at times, you had to pause your mind and take a deep breath, despite how difficult that was for you.
You only needed one more game to win the set and secure a place in the Roland Garros final. No pressure, of course.
The advantage was that you were serving in this game, but ironically, this often made you even more nervous. The pressure of delivering a strong serve was immense.
The crowd was overwhelming, so many eyes watching you, so many unfamiliar faces focused on you, watching every move, your family and team sitting behind you. In this position you couldn’t look at them to calm down.
You needed to focus your eyes on something, to steady your nerves. As you walked towards your position, after drying your face with the towel, you looked in a diagonal direction, right towards the area where you were supposed to put the ball.
As you raised your gaze slightly, something caught your eye. In the stands, amid a sea of blonde and brown heads, was a woman with striking red hair. The woman stood out, not only because of her hair, but also because she was the only person not looking at you, instead, her attention was elsewhere.
You stole a glance at the red-haired woman as you inhaled deeply, preparing for your serve. With a fluid motion, you raised her arm, tossed the ball into the air and delivered a powerful strike.
Ace!
The ball zipped across the court with velocity, catching your opponent off guard. Convinced it would fly out, your opponent made no attempt to chase after it.
A satisfied smile tugged at your lips.
Once more, your gaze flickered toward the red-haired woman in the stands. Drawing another deep breath, you focused intensely as you prepared to serve again. With a determined flick of your wrist, you sent the ball hurtling across the court, this time, your aim wasn’t for an ace, but rather to set up a play that would complicate the things for your opponent.
Within minutes the score stood at 40-15. Just one more point.
You didn't want to take any unnecessary risks, but you craved to close the match with a decisive point, one point to make it clear why you were here.
So, you adjusted your visor, brushed your fingers over the gold chain hanging from your neck and looked up, for the first time looking directly at the woman, not even getting a good look at her, because the woman was quite far away, but the woman's disinterest helped you to clear your head and focus your mind, ignoring the bunch of other faces watching you.
Just one more point.
You lifted the ball, the familiar weight of your racket in your hand, a quiet groan escaping your lips before you swung. Then, the sound of the impact echoed through the entire court and as the ball bounced on the clay.
Ace!
Leah was up from her seat at the same time as you fell backwards onto the clay.
"That was incredible," Leah exclaimed, joining the chorus of applause.
"Incredible?" Amanda asked without understanding that much. However, what truly caught her off guard was the sight of her daughter like that, grinning from ear to ear. It was common to see her like that when it came to football matches, but not usually during tennis.
"Are you kidding? It was phenomenal! If you hadn't been glued to your phone, you’d have felt the same as the rest of us!" Leah retorted.
"So, did we win?" Amanda inquired.
"Well, you have won a few more days in France," Leah replied, attempting to temper her excitement. "The final is in two days."
"Do we have tickets?”
"Of course, I purchased them in advance. I already knew Y/N would make it to the finals."
Amanda regarded her daughter suspiciously. "You're not into gambling, are you?"
"Of course not," Leah replied with a grin. "But if I were to bet on her I'd do pretty well”
As they made their way toward the exit, following the crowd, Amanda broke the silence. "Do you know that player?"
"No… not personally" Leah replied "But I watched her play at Wimbledon last year."
"Did she win?"
"No" Leah shook her head, a hint of disappointment in her expression. "She lost"
"So, she's not that good?"
"Actually, she's quite impressive," Leah defended you. "She went up against the number two player in the world."
"What rank is she?" Amanda inquired.
"Four," Leah answered.
"Then she's not the best," Amanda said confidently.
"Mom!" Leah nudged her playfully while Amanda held back her laughter. "You couldn't even hit the ball."
"Neither could you, I remember your attempts at tennis when you were little," Amanda chuckled. "But what I don't get is why you're defending her so much"
"Because she's great, she’s talented! Look over there!" Leah pointed behind her, where a large screen displayed the game's results alongside your photo.
Amanda's eyes immediately gravitated toward the image, ignoring the points table. "And she's quite pretty," she remarked, studying your face for the first time.
"And she's talented," Leah emphasized, feeling a blush creeping up her ears. Thankfully, her hair concealed it from her mother's curious gaze.
"Whatever you say, sweetheart," Amanda replied with a smile.
It was a tough match, quite a tough match, but that's what you would expect in a Roland Garros final.
The first set ended 6-4 in favor of Iga Swiatek.
You had faced her numerous times throughout your professional career, but had never managed to defeat her in an official match. Despite your old friendship with Iga, there was an undeniable intensity when you two met on the court, and you were determined to shine this time.
As the first set concluded, you sank into your chair, you had to use the break to ease the tension in your legs. Uncapping your water bottle, your fingers instinctively found the gold chain around your neck, adorned with your initials. It may have seemed superstitious, but wearing it had always brought you luck on the court.
Suddenly, your coach's voice pierced the distance, signaling for you to relax and loosen up your play. You brushed off the advice, as if you hadn't already realized that. Ignoring your coach's guidance was risky, but you already had your own voice in your mind against you.
Taking a long sip of water, you refocused your gaze forward. Then, something caught your attention.
The same woman from the previous match was in the stands again. You hadn't noticed her before, too engrossed in your opponent. Again, that was the key to your game, you needed to block out distractions and focus on yourself and the ball. Just like you had done during the semifinal match, you needed to tune out everything else.
"How many points before your girl loses?" Amanda said, glancing sideways at Leah, who was leaning forward, her elbows on her knees and a faint blush on her cheeks. According to Leah it was from the sun hitting her face, but Amanda knew her daughter well enough.
"Don't pester me, now's not the time," Leah replied, sitting up straight in her seat and adjusting her sunglasses.
"I'm not pestering you, but you claimed that girl was fantastic. Yet, from what I've seen today, the other player seems better to me."
"Well, she's number one after all"
"So, you admit she's the best."
Leah rolled her eyes. "Y/N just needs to take a breath. After this break she'll bounce back, you'll see. She'll shut your mouth"
"If you say so."
And so it happened. You had won the second set 4-6, breaking Iga's serve at the crucial moment. The victory was almost surreal, even Leah found it hard to believe.
"Stop biting your nails," her mother said, giving Leah's leg a slap as she saw her nervous habit.
"She's going to win," Leah said without looking at her mother, her gaze fixed on you, as you refreshed yourself by wetting your hair before the final set.
"Leah, you've been saying that since yesterday," Amanda remarked, a mixture of amusement and exasperation in her tone.
"I’m excited," Leah defended.
Amanda shook her head, a smile tugging at her lips. "If she wins, will you approach her?"
"Are you being serious?" she said, shaking her head "What would I even say?" Leah replied, a hint of uncertainty in her voice.
"You've been crushing over her for days. I've never seen you like this with someone you don't even know," Amanda teased.
"It's not a crush. I just admire her athletic ability and determination, that's all," Leah insisted.
"Well, then you two have something in common. I don’t see why you don’t talk to her"
"Because... I just don't," Leah stammered, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment.
"What a coward," Amanda teased.
The set stood at 4-5 in your favor, but now it was Iga's turn to serve, and she was already in position. You shifted your weight from side to side, preparing for the shot, a smile gracing your lips as you caught sight of the red-haired woman just above Iga’s head. The woman had become your anchor, helping you refocus on your game.
It was almost amusing, thinking that no one else existed in the crowd, just you and the woman. You could tell the woman wasn’t at all interested in what was going on in the clay. You often caught the woman glancing at her phone during the set. Yet, you found solace in playing as if you were solely performing for the woman.
However, you didn’t forget the game at hand, swiftly responding to each shot with your racket, rallying back and forth several times before you had a moment of brilliance that allowed you to execute a breathtaking drop shot in the opposite direction of Iga's sprint.
It was the highlight of the tournament, perhaps even of your career, your best point. Yet, when you glanced up and noticed the red-haired woman looking away, you couldn't help but chuckle.
With the score now at 40-AD, you needed just one more point to clinch your first grand slam title. As Iga's shot came straight towards your body, you managed to get your racket in position to return the ball. The exchange of the ball was intense, this time you had to sprint to reach a ball you never thought you could. You struck it with the edge of your racket, hoping for the best as the ball sailed toward the line.
As you watched the ball clear the net, you felt the light weight of your gold chain around your neck and remembered that luck was on your side this time.
Everything happened in slow motion as Iga dropped her racket to the ground, and moments later, you found yourself on your knees on the clay court, the crowd erupting into cheers around you.
You didn't know how, but now you were already in the stands, being hugged by your family and your team, with your coach by your side, trying to shake some of the clay off your clothes.
"I need you to do me a favor" you said to him before the tournament staff took you away for the trophy presentation.
As Leah and her mother descended the stairs toward the exit, Leah couldn't contain her excitement. "I told you Y/N would win," she exclaimed, her hand firmly grasping her mother's arm. The trophy presentation had concluded, and the crowd was beginning to disperse.
"It was luck," Amanda teased her daughter, though she couldn't deny her surprise at your remarkable turnaround.
"We should have placed a bet. We would have won"
"At least I won't have to endure your grumpy face during dinner," Amanda said with a playful smirk.
Leah rolled her eyes as they walked through the crowd.
"Excuse me!" A man's voice behind them interrupted their conversation. Leah's eyes widened as she recognized him. "This might sound strange… but Y/N wants to see you," the man explained to Amanda, who didn't understand the situation at all, her daughter didn’t either.
Leah felt a tug on the arm her mother was holding on.
"Uh-"
"It's Y/N's coach," Leah clarified to her mother.
"And she wants to see me?" Amanda asked.
The man nodded awkwardly. "I wish I could offer more explanation, but Y/N is sometimes unpredictable."
After a moment of contemplation, Amanda flashed a mischievous smile and nodded, gripping her daughter's arm even tighter. "Sure, take us to her."
Leah's heart raced. How was it possible that she was going to meet her crush the athlete she admired thanks to her mother?
Your coach, after a few minutes of walking in silence, led them through a door into a room where you were lying on a couch, eyes closed.
"Hey, Y/N. Your guests are here," your coach announced, giving your shoulder a squeeze.
You quickly opened your eyes and stood up, ignoring the fact that you had just played a two-hour match less than half an hour ago.
You were no longer wearing your visor and your shoes, but you were still in your white uniform with lilac accents. Leah couldn't help but notice that your socks were now stained with clay.
"Y/N L/N" you introduced yourself, extending your hand toward Amanda. Your attention seemed focused on Amanda, oblivious to Leah standing behind her. "I'm introducing myself because I have a slight feeling you don't know me," you said with a smile.
"Amanda," she said, shaking your hand. "Don't worry, I know who you are. A little voice hasn't stopped repeating your name since we arrived in France."
Leah blushed and glanced away.
"Oh," you released Amanda's hand and turned to the blonde, whom you hadn't noticed during either match. "Shouldn't I introduce myself then?" you asked, extending your hand toward Leah.
"No need," Leah said, feeling her mother's not-so-subtle nudge as you extended your hand. "My name is Leah, and I'm a big fan of yours."
"Your number one fan," Amanda chimed in with a smile.
"Mom!" Leah protested, feeling her cheeks flush with embarrassment.
You released Leah's hand and turned to Amanda.
"She brought me all the way from England just to see you," Amanda explained, noticing the way you were looking at her daughter.
"England?" you asked, curious about the mention of England.
"Yes, we're from England," Leah confirmed.
"And my daughter is the captain of—"
"Mom, no!" Leah interjected, her cheeks turning pink as she attempted to silence her mother's impending revelation.
You couldn't help but laugh at Leah's embarrassment, finding the exchange amusing.
"Why are we here?" Leah asked before her mother could continue.
"Oh, right," you replied, regaining your composure. "I wanted to thank you," you said, turning to Amanda and clasping your hands behind your back.
"Me?" "Her?" Amanda and Leah exclaimed simultaneously, surprised by your words.
"Yes," You said softly, your gaze shifting to Leah, a smile returning to your face. "Since the semifinal match, I noticed your mother in the stands. Although, it's hard not to see her," you added, gesturing towards Amanda's red hair. "She was the only person in the whole court who wasn't looking at me. Thanks to her, I was able to concentrate and win. It may sound silly but—"
"Oh, don't worry honey," Amanda interjected. "They usually tell me that I bring good luck in big games," she said, nodding towards Leah with her thumb.
"You're an athlete? Sorry, what was your name again? I don't have a good memory with names," you said, this time blushing slightly.
"Honey, Leah is the captain of the England team," Amanda clarified, speaking on behalf of her daughter.
"Oh... Football? Volleyball?" You inquired.
"Yes, football," Leah replied, feeling a flush of embarrassment. She had never felt so embarrassed in her life, not even as a child.
You glanced Leah up and down once more. You had never imagined a football player could dress so stylishly. You found yourself so engrossed in observing Leah's attire that you only snapped back to reality when your coach cleared his throat.
"Well, I just wanted to make sure to thank you for your help, even if you didn't realize it," you said, pulling an autographed tennis ball out of your pocket. "I'm not sure how valuable this is to you, but perhaps your daughter will appreciate it," you added with a laugh, glancing sideways at Leah. "Well, I must be off now, interviews and all that," you explained, walking away to grab your bag. "Hope to see you two at Wimbledon," you said, winking at Amanda before leaving.
The next day, Leah found herself at the airport, keeping an eye on their suitcases while her mother went to grab something to eat. Suddenly, a notification on her phone caught her off guard.

“Well…” he takes a drink from his bottle, and then studies it in his hand. “I thought you could sweeten my beer for me.” Your eyebrows raise on their own, your body on autopilot. “S-sweeten…your…b…” Joel nods. His eyes track over to the rest of the party, and then back to you. “Nobody’s watchin’, darlin’. It’s just you ‘n me. Go on. Do it for me.”
“No, no, no, hey, baby – don’t change the subject. You didn’t answer my question,” Joel says, one hand on the steering wheel, the other waving around like a maniac’s in midair. “What – is – a garden party?”
Your dad is chortling in the passenger seat.
“If you’d stop interruptin’ me!” you yell from the back. You’re leant forward, head and shoulders between the two of them. “It’s, like, well…drinks, and food, sat out on the patio in the nice weather–”
“Sounds like a barbecue to me!” Joel roars, much to your dad’s delight.
He claps his hands together once and snorts with laughter until he’s out of breath. “That Sarah of yours has you wrapped around her little finger, Joel.”
“She says, ‘I’m too old for a barbecue’. I said, ‘Too old for meat on a grill?’ How do you get to be too old to eat steak cooked on a grill?”
You roll your eyes with a sigh, slumping back in your seat and looking out the window at the buildings sailing by. You’re on your way to Costco to pick up supplies for this barb– garden party Sarah’s requested from Joel. He’s not too impressed by the thought of it.
Your dad’s talking about some client of his who threw his daughter a quinceañera on a yacht off the coast of Florida, for some reason you don’t care to listen to. Joel doesn’t, either. You see his eyes watching you from the rear-view mirror, clocking your expression.
When you turn to fully look back, his eyebrows raise, a question: You okay?
You raise yours back. Whatever.
He breathes a laugh, then plays it off to look like he’s laughing at your dad’s story. The truck pulls in to the parking lot.
By all accounts, your dad shouldn’t trust you and Joel alone together half as much as he does. But when the three of you get out of the car – Joel opens your door for you – he takes off to grab a shopping cart.
You and Joel take the opportunity to meander slowly toward the store. You haven’t had much time as of late to hang out, get some much-needed attention from him, jump each other’s bones. Sarah’s return means one more person to run lies around, one more obstacle stopping you from having precious free time with each other.
More than all of that, you just miss him. Miss the way he talks to you when no one else can hear, the way he reads your mind and gets it right – annoyingly – every damn time.
He loosens his elbow, offering you it, and you snake your arm through it.
“Garden party,” he scoffs. “I sure am glad I have you to keep me right.”
“We’ll make it nice for her,” you reply. “She liked the banner and balloons, right?”
He laughs. “She sure did. Facetimed her roommates to show ‘em off.”
You take a few more paces in silence, the gentle breeze sifting through your hair. It’s nice, just wandering with Joel. His warm arm hooked around yours, safe, steady. You feel you could lean into him and let him guide you along like the wind, all trust in his capable hands.
Then your dad rattles over toward you guys with a squeaky-wheeled cart and fucks it all up.
Joel, ever the casual one, slowly unlinks your arms. He ain’t got nothing to hide. Just being chivalrous to his buddy’s daughter.
“Where to first?” your dad asks.
“Wish I knew.” Joel strolls inside, and you follow, heading into the chilly store.
Joel decides the easiest – and quickest – way to get this shopping trip over with is to split up. He takes decorations, your dad offers to grab some of the food, and you’re left with drinks.
You mosey down the aisles with your janky cart squealing every time you turn. Under fluorescent lights, you spot shelves of soda and make for them, dodging a half-empty cage of stock someone’s emptying.
There are so many brands and flavors it’s actually kinda intimidating, and you wish you had Joel here to tell you which ones he wants. That, and also to reach them for you. The Dr Pepper is on the top shelf, and even though he’d probably tease you for not being able to reach first, his tall form would pull down a crate in one swoop without you even having to ask.
“Oh, let me get those for you!” a voice calls from behind, and you swivel around to see a kid– sorry, a guy in a Costco uniform rushing over from the other side of the aisle. The sides of his strawberry blonde hair are shaven, longer on top, gelled back. Round cheeks, flushed bright pink.
His equally pink arms reach up and grip a crate, pulling it from the shelf.
“Could you please…grab me one of the lemonade, too?”
“Sure thing,” he says.
“Thanks.” You smile as he lays the second carefully in your cart.
“No problem. You new around here? I recognize a lot of folks, never seen you before.”
His name badge reads Zack. It suits him, you think.
Your hands are locked tight around the cart handle. He’s not doing anything wrong, but you still feel awkward. You rock softly from side to side, answering, “Nope, lived here my whole life. Well, that’s not entirely true. I lived in New York City for a few years for college.”
“New York, huh? What’s that like?”
“It’s…good. Kinda place you gotta experience to really…experience, I guess.” You nervously scratch your arm.
“I’ve love to hear more about it. I went to college for, I think, two semesters? And dropped right back out. Wasn’t for me. Are you…Sorry, I’m not tryna be forward. Are you…with anybody?”
“Oh, I, uh…”
Right then you feel the air stop short at your side and notice Joel out of your peripheral vision.
“Hey, you found ‘em,” you say, barely above a whisper, looking at the packs of paper plates locked inside his tight knuckles.
He tosses them into the cart on top of your soda, looking down at you over your shoulder.
“You found drinks.”
“Yep.” If the ground could swallow me up right about now, that’d be great.
Zack shuffles on his feet, looking from you to Joel. He looks panicked. You bite back a laugh.
“Thanks, son.” Joel’s voice is muted, toneless, and he takes the cart straight out of your grasp in one sweep, a quick nod in Zack’s direction.
You don’t move, instead hang back to give the assistant a grateful smile and tell him, “We’re in a bit of a rush. Party’s tomorrow.”
“Wow, well, have fun!” he replies. As you swing off to follow Joel, Zack hops along after you, tapping your shoulder.
“I didn’t catch your name?”
“Naw, but she caught yours, Zack!” Joel yells. Emphasis on the K.
“See ya,” you whisper.
“Makin’ friends, are we?” Joel mutters as you catch up to him.
You lightly hit his bicep. “I couldn’t reach the soda.”
“Poor baby.” He pets his lip. You smack him again, but your stomach floods with heat. Joel doesn’t make note of it. “Need your help pickin’ out a tablecloth,” he says.
“A tablecloth? What’s so hard about a tablecl–”
You round the corner and Joel nods ahead, to where an entire wall of party supplies sits. On the shelves, piles of paper plates, cups, and napkins, and on the pegs above, bags, tablecloths, confetti, cutlery, banners, and bunting.
“Oh…”
“I was thinkin’ that pink one with the stars on it.” Joel nods to the left, finger scratching his nose, where a baby pink sheet lies, white stars all over. You try to mask your frown.
“No?” he asks, looking over at you tensely.
You tilt your head back in his direction. “It’s just…she made such a big deal about bein’ too old for a barbecue. If she’s too old for a barbecue, ain’t she too old for…”
“Pink?”
You flash him a gentle smile. “I reckon she’d like that one.”
You point to a white tablecloth, decorated with metallic gold dots.
“So, no pink, no stars. Gold polka dots are fine?”
“Sure,” you reply.
“Keep me right,” Joel whispers, leaning over to take the packet from its hook.
“Got some nibbles,” your dad’s voice yaps as he joins you two, dumping a dozen bags of candy, chips, and what looks like half the snack section into the cart. He sighs, placing his hands on his hips. “We all done?”
“Just gotta get some platters,” Joel replies, pulling a handwritten list and pen from his back pocket and glancing down it.
You lean over to check it out, smiling at his haphazard handwriting.
Cups
Soda
Plates
Tablecloth?
Balloons
Food
Cake
He draws a line through soda, plates, and the tablecloth.
“You gettin’ a cake?” you ask him.
He replies without lifting his eyes from the list. “Next door neighbor’s doin’ it. She has a bakery in town.”
Your dad’s over by the bunting, studying it all with his hands clasped behind his back.
You lower your tone, leaning in closer. “Neighbor, huh? She cute? She single?”
Joel tuts and gives you a dead-eyed stare. “Might be. Not sure.” He tilts his head. “Why don’t we give her Zack’s number?”
You raise an eyebrow and take the cart from his hands.
“We’re done, Dad. Deli’s on the way out,” you tell Joel, and he follows at your heels.
You didn’t take Joel for a man who spends ten minutes deciding which food platters to buy, but when it hits two-thirty and he’s still standing with his chin between his fingers, you sigh.
“Is it this big a deal?”
“I imagine it is; it’s Sarah we’re talkin’ about here.”
You can’t help the smile that grows on your lips, seeing how determined he is to make it perfect for her. It’s cute, alright? Who would’ve thought Joel Miller would concern himself so much with deli platters?
“Quit that,” he tells you, not even looking in your direction.
“Quit what?”
“Your starin’. Give us away.”
Your hand comes up to shove him and he grabs it, looking over your shoulder to check your dad’s not looking when he pulls you close to him.
“Don’t make me tell you twice, baby.”
You raise your eyebrows, smug grin on your lips, and his eyes dance down your body.
He suddenly lets go of you and you realize why seconds later when your dad’s heavy arm smacks down over your shoulders.
“We done, Joel? There’s this show on National Geographic about sharks I’m tryna catch.”
You roll your eyes at Joel who hands you an amused grin, then places a couple of platters into the cart and leads y’all to the checkouts.
“I’ll take the cart back, get you both at the truck.” Your dad makes off, janky wheel squeaking off to the front doors.
Joel shakes his head in his wake, as bemused by him as you are. You smile Hello to the cashier.
“How are y’all today?” he asks.
“Good, thanks,” you reply, watching Joel’s thick arms hold the crates of soda up to be scanned. He’s tensing, veins lining his tan skin. You could bite into him, you’re so needy. It’s only been a fucking week.
The red light flashes across the barcode with a beep and he settles the drinks down to grab his wallet.
You glance around as he pays. From over Joel’s right shoulder, a familiar set of buck teeth approaches. You avert your gaze, swerving to hide between Joel and the counter.
“I’m goin’ on my break, Tom!” Zack’s voice rings out, and you feel Joel’s chest shift around your shoulder.
“You got the bags?” he asks, casually. Unbothered.
“Mhm,” you reply, not achieving the same level of coolness as he did. Your voice quivers as your eyes scan for Zack, hoping he won’t catch you.
Poor guy. He was friendly enough. Just, you happen to think Joel’s friendlier.
Even if he notices you, you’re already being swept out of the store by Joel, both crates of soda and the platters on top in his arms; a feat that might’ve killed Zack in the soft drinks section. You wander off together back out into the burning heat, eyes squinting in the sun.
Your dad is stood in deep conversation with someone by the cart return, a man with a balding head and blue jeans that you don’t recognize. “I’ll be over in a minute,” he tells you both as you pass, “work stuff.”
Joel loads the truck and you jump in the back.
“You not gonna sit up front with me?” he asks, turning back to you.
“And make my dad sit in the back?”
“Punishment for holdin’ us up.”
You raise your eyebrows and climb over the front seat, sitting in place next to Joel. His hand reaches over and cups your thigh. You like it, feeling like this is your spot. Right next to him. Co-pilot. Captain of the radio.
You probably don’t like the same music Joel does, though.
You bring a hand down to lace through his, fingers intertwining between your legs.
“So, Zack?”
You lean your skull against the headrest and glare up at the roof of the car. “I have no idea. He was just talkin’ to me.”
“He seemed to like you.”
“I’m very likeable.”
“Did you like him?”
“Have you looked in a mirror lately? He look my type?”
Joel gives half a shrug.
“Don’t get all jealous,” you mutter, turning to check on your dad.
“Jealous,” Joel repeats, with a scoff.
“Uh, ‘She caught your name, Zack!’” You echo Joel’s rough inflection, emphasizing his Texas twang, stressing the K the way he did.
“That wasn’t jealousy, baby,” he says softly.
You huff, looking away and crossing your arms.
“You want me to be jealous?”
“No.”
Yeah, you do. It was kinda hot.
Joel’s smirking, you can see it from the corner of your eye.
“I…want you to be…It was hot when you…Well, I…It’s more that…In a word, I’d say–”
Joel’s hand squeezes yours, letting go and sliding slowly up your thigh. Your ears are throbbing with blood rushing when he finally stops just shy of your underwear.
“Got it,” he whispers.
Your eyes drift from his hand up to his expression. If it weren’t for the sweet smile he was giving you, you’d call him arrogant. But his warm expression, the way his head is tilted against his seat to look at you, really take you in, the upturned corners of his mouth…
It’s just as well your dad hauls the truck door open when he does, before you can throw yourself at his best friend.
“I’m in the damn back then, am I? Assholes,” he murmurs as he – struggles to – climb up into his seat.
“Blame your daughter,” Joel chuckles, hand reaching around the back of your headrest to reverse, “huh, Trouble?”
You open your mouth to clap a reply back, but your dad interrupts.
“Trouble?” he asks, brow cocked.
You spin around to watch his face contort in confusion.
“Who the heck is Trouble?”
“Your kid. Always causin’ it,” Joel says.
“Is she, now?”
You cast a look at Joel, out of sight of your dad. Are you fuckin’ serious?
He grins in return, driving off out of the parking lot.
----------
Joel had dropped you guys off on the way home from Costco. You’d wanted to stick around for a few minutes after your dad had hopped out of the truck, but he was relentless.
“Let Joel head off, he’s got a busy evenin’ ahead,” he’d insisted.
Joel had given you an apologetic glance as you unbuckled your seatbelt and followed suit.
“I’ll see you tomorrow.” He’d quickly kissed the back of your hand as you bid him farewell.
When Sunday rolls around, you spend the morning checking in with him, asking how the party’s looking and receiving photos to judge his decorating skills.
You: Not quite as good without my input, but it’ll do
Joel: Nothing’s quite as good without your input.
When it’s almost time to go, you’re still in the mirror making sure your outfit is perfect for Joel.
Perfect for the party, you mean.
You adjust the strap of your green dress, pulling the floral fabric over your bra. Totally innocent. Just a nice summer dress.
With slutty lingerie hidden underneath.
You’re only wearing it to fuck with him. You know that. Nothing is gonna happen at a fucking garden party. But your eyes flit across your body, trying to get into the mind of a forty-eight-year-old, watching the tops of your thighs as the wind lifts your skirt…
You unlock your phone and your thumb dances over the text thread with Joel. You’d taken some pictures before you’d slipped the dress over yourself, honestly just ‘cause you thought you looked hot, but now that the idea’s in your head…you might as well.
You: Does this lingerie say ‘garden party’?
You hit send and shut your eyes tight until you see stars, blindly throwing your phone to the floor and pacing back and forth. What the fuck what the fuck what the fuck was that that was so stupid he’s totally gonna laugh at you you loser he’s–
It doesn’t take long for your phone to vibrate with Joel’s reply. You dive for it, grabbing it with a swoop of your arm.
Joel: Slutty garden party, sure.
You snort. Dick.
You: Like it?
The typing indicator pops up, then disappears, then returns. Three dots blinking at the speed your pulse is racing. Type quicker, old man.
Joel: I prefer what’s underneath it.
Your chest shudders with a sudden inhale. Your face begins to heat. A terrible idea has crossed your mind.
You’ve never been one for sexting. Not much, anyway. Certainly not on an actual message thread. Snapchat, sure, where the messages disappear from both your screen and your mind as soon as you’re done. But never somewhere there’s recorded proof.
It’s kinda hot. Having evidence of you and Joel. Pictures and messages to look back on.
So, you lay back on your bed and spread your legs. Hook a finger around the elastic of your panties, pulling them to the side to expose your – already glistening wet – folds.
You lower your phone, snap a couple pics. Play around, spread your lips, take more.
Then you send one.
Fuck it, right?
You: Sounded like you were missing it…
Your phone’s ringing within ten seconds of hitting send. You pick up and Joel’s calling out to someone.
“–right back, ‘m just goin’ to change.”
Sarah replies something you can’t make out, and Joel sighs.
“Naw, it’s just not very…I wanna look right for it. You look great. Just– I’ll be right back.”
You giggle quietly into the phone. “Excuses, excuses, Miller…”
“The hell are you doin’,” he hisses, bedroom door closing in the background, “sendin’ me that without a warnin’?”
“I did send warnin’,” you protest. “You must’a guessed when I sent the first one what the second was gonna be?”
Joel sighs and you giggle, laying back on your bed. Your hand returns between your legs and you whisper a moan, fingers sifting through soaking folds.
He goes quiet for a second.
“You playin’ with yourself, baby?”
“Mhm.”
“Feel good?”
“Yup,” you reply.
“You want me to make you cum over the phone?”
Your breath shudders and your chest heaves. Every damn time, he blows your cool every damn time.
“Uhuh,” you whimper. “’m so fucking wet.”
“Yeah? So needy, baby. Got yourself all riled up, haven’t you? Need me to fix it for you, take it away.”
You moan.
“You still wearin’ those little panties?”
You hum in response. He knows it’s a yes.
“Take ‘em off.”
“Joel, I’m leavin’ in–”
“Off.”
You obey him, dropping the phone onto your bed beside your ear and raising your hips, elastic of your underwear sliding over your pelvis and down your legs. You drop them to the floor and your hands resume position.
“Good girl,” he says, hearing you moan when your fingertips meet your clit again. “That better?”
“Mhm,” you croon.
He hisses, says, “Yeah. Gonna fuck yourself for me, pretty girl?”
You whine a Yes, and hear the clink of his belt buckle, the zip of his jeans. His voice echoes, bouncing off what you assume are his bathroom walls, when he tells you to slide a finger inside yourself. He lets a breathy sigh pass his lips, and you know he has a fist around his cock.
Your fingers dip inside your opening, collecting your slick and rubbing it up and down, soaking your clit before they return to your cunt and slip inside. You gasp, the stretch too good to keep quiet.
Joel murmurs another Good fuckin’ girl, and you can hear his soft panting. It drives you insane.
“Joel,” you whisper, “want you here.”
“I know, darlin’, I know.”
“Want you to f-fuck me.” Your swollen clit ruts against the base of your palm, the bone rubbing it so fucking good, and you squeeze your eyes tight shut.
“Soon, baby, promise,” he tells you, his hand pumping his cock, the sound of his precum coating his shaft floating through your cell into your ear. “Keep goin’, pretty girl. Bein’ so dirty for me, so fuckin’ good.”
Your back begins to arch, his praises and the sound of him jacking himself off pushing you closer and closer, warmth and pleasure flooding through your body from your core.
Joel speaks again through a strained voice.
“Wanted to fuck you yesterday,” he says, “so fuckin’ bad, baby.”
Your breath halts, cutting short in your throat.
“Wanted to,” groan, “sh-show that fuckin’ kid who you belonged to.”
You breathe a laugh laced thick with arousal. “Who I b…belonged to?”
You’re enjoying the thought as much as he is. Joel fucking you senseless in front of anyone who looks twice at you. Showing them that only he can make you feel good, only he can make you cum the way you do. The thought causes a whimper to escape your throat.
“That’s it, baby. You like that?”
“Yeah,” you whine.
“Tell me, pretty girl. Tell me.”
“’m yours, Joel. Fuck. Fuckin’ – yours.”
You’re whispering his name over and over, adding a third finger, imagining it’s his cock fucking in and out of you.
“So – close – baby,” he’s grunting, and you sigh in agreement. You’re writhing around on your mattress, legs wide open, hands pumping in and out and rubbing circles all over your sensitive cunt, wishing it was Joel all over you.
He’s moaning now, quietly humming down the phone to you, and it starts to undo the knot in your stomach. Your walls clamp around your fingers, hand begins to slow on your clit, and you utter his name before you fall silent, throat closing up as you climax.
The sound of your orgasm sends him over the edge right behind you. He groans, your name on his lips as he climaxes, repeating it over and over. You’re still coming to when he quietens, moans staggered, breathing heavy.
“Good?” you ask, fingers massaging yourself after your high.
“So good, darlin’,” he whispers, “did so good for me.”
You smile at his praise. Did so good for him, like you always do. It sends your head spiraling.
You dip your soaked fingers in and out of your soft cunt, lying in the bliss a little while longer, listening to Joel do his jeans back up and fix his belt.
He must figure what you’re up to, because he lifts the phone back to his mouth and says, “Tell me how you taste, baby.”
You don’t even think twice. You slip your fingers from your dripping cunt and suckle on them, moaning into the phone for Joel’s benefit. He lets out a low growl.
“Sweet as sugar,” you tell him, and he hums.
“Hey, hon?” your dad’s voice snaps you back to reality.
You’re not on some different plain with Joel’s voice purring in your ear. You’re not in private. You’re laying on your bed with your legs spread, Joel on speakerphone.
Your legs slam closed and you sit up straight, shushing Joel, who’s chuckling quietly into your phone.
“Yep?” you reply, voice shaky. “Shut the fuck up,” you hiss down the line.
Your dad pushes your door open as you stand, straightening your dress.
“Ready to go? I don’t wanna be late for Joel.”
“I don’t think he’ll mind.”
“He will. C’mon.”
He closes the door over when he leaves. You tug your panties back on and bring the phone up to your ear, speakerphone now safely off.
“Do you? Mind?”
“’s long as I get to see your pretty little face, I don’t care, baby.”
You smile. Then you think it over.
“…but you’d prefer I was there on time, right? Y’know, so you can spend more time with me?”
“Uhuh. Sure. More time with your ass, too.”
“Alright. That’s nice. See, you just ruined what could’ve been a really sweet moment. How romantic, Miller. Once again, your dick gets the better of you.”
Joel laughs. “Ain’t that what this whole thing is? My dick getting the better of me?”
You gasp, offended. “And here I was thinking you liked me for my personality.”
He scoffs. “Will you just get in the damn car and get your ass over here?”
You’re fixing yourself once more in the mirror; there can be no signs of what just happened.
“I’m cominggg…” you drawl.
“Good girl. Bring that personality of yours, too.”
You snort and hang up without saying goodbye.
Your dad is stood at the bottom of the stairs as you march down them, legs still a little weak.
“Sorry, kiddo, I just don’t wanna be late. Joel’s wantin’ us there first, and Rita will be waitin’.”
Your brows furrow in response. He elaborates.
“She’s comin’, too, I’ve to give her a ride.”
“Sooo…we’ll arrive at Joel’s around midnight? Just checkin’, so I can let him know. Y’know, she likes to take it slow in the car.”
“Ha-ha. Funny. Get your things.”
“Can I take my own car? We can race, see who gets there first.”
Your dad sighs. “How am I s’posed to explain that to her?”
“Just say Sarah wanted me over early.” You cock your head like a begging puppy. “Please?”
He nods, exasperated, and waves a hand toward you. “Go on, get. Take that salad, will you?”
You sit the ceramic bowl on your hip and skip to the front door, belting it into the passenger seat before heading for Joel’s.
He’s out back when you arrive, platter of food in his hand. He looks casual, like he wasn’t cooing you through an orgasm, like, twenty minutes ago.
“Hey, cowboy,” you call from the patio door.
He sets the platter down on the tablecloth you picked out and strolls back toward the house, hands taking your waist as soon as he’s close enough.
“Your dad here?”
“Nope,” you whisper, “he’s bringing Rita.”
Joel dips his head and presses his lips to yours, rocking you back and forth. You giggle against his mouth.
“Dress is nice,” he murmurs when he pulls away, your foreheads together.
“Oh, you should see what I have on under it.”
“Already did,” he whispers in a cocky song, and you laugh again into his kiss.
His tongue sneaks past yours, and you squeal when his hand drops to squeeze your ass under your short skirt.
“You’re gonna make me drop this salad!” You bat his smirking ass off of you to set your dad’s handiwork safely on the table.
The moment is broken by the sound of Sarah’s voice from the hallway. You both split apart, Joel heads back outside while you walk over to the fridge to grab a soda.
“Welcome home banner’s slipped, Dad,” she yells out the window, and Joel gives her a thumbs up. Sarah rolls her eyes and turns to you. “Hi, you!”
“Hey,” you reply, giving her a toothy grin. “Soda?”
She reaches a hand out and you pass her a Coke.
“I have never seen my dad so stressed,” she snickers, can to her lips.
“Me either. You don’t wanna know how long he took to decide what to get from the deli.”
Sarah silently wanders through to the living room, beckoning you to follow. You glance up at the streamers still hanging from the ceiling, the slanted banner above the TV.
You throw yourselves down on the couch and she rounds on you.
“So…?”
“So?” you say, taking a sip of your soda.
“What’s been goin’ on? We haven’t properly caught up yet.”
You shrug. “Not much. Workin’ at Sal’s, loving life. What’s been going on with you?”
“Oh, come on. You really got no news for me?”
“What news do you want?” You snort, lifting the can to cover your flushed cheeks.
Sarah shrugs. “I dunno, boys? Gossip? Drama?”
“What are you, thirteen? Thought you were a big Cali girl now.”
She tuts.
You sigh, conceding. “No boys, no drama happenin’, and the most gossip I know is Anna called in sick last week and then Sal’s niece saw a picture of her on Instagram at some house party. ‘s all I got.”
Sarah looks unconvinced. She smirks. Her eyes thin, only for a second, but you catch it.
“How’s your dad?” she asks after a tense stare-off.
“Fine,” you reply. “He’s bringing Rita.”
“Aw. I’ll miss ‘im, then. Won’t be here ‘til sundown.”
You giggle into your can, “That’s what I said, dude.”
Joel shuffles into the room then, making for the banner. Your eyes track him as he leans over the TV, strong arms reaching up to fix it into place. He grunts as he pushes the pin back in.
“Need a hand, Dad?”
“Nope,” he replies, “’m good.”
Your chest tightens as the memory of the last time that banner was pinned into place floods your memory. Sat atop Joel’s shoulders, pulling him into you when he set you back down. Then, him fucking you on the couch, right where your legs currently lie, Sarah’s draped over them.
And here he is, able to reach it all by himself all along.
You clear your throat, suddenly feeling flushed.
“You good?” Sarah asks when you sit up straight, fanning yourself with your hand.
“Is it hot in here?”
Joel turns, eyebrows raising.
“Crack a window, Dad.” Sarah’s fanning you now, too, wafting a magazine in your face.
He moves for the window and slides it open, pulling the shades back in attempt to get some airflow.
“I’m fine,” you whisper, hand on Sarah’s wrist. “I’m fine.”
She lowers the magazine and stares you down. “Are you pregnant, or something?”
Joel chokes, clearing his throat over by the window, and you bat Sarah’s leg.
“No, idiot! It’s just hot. You’re not hot?”
Sarah flicks her hair over her shoulder, chin lifting. “I’m very hot, actually.” She stifles a laugh at your expression. When she leans over to set her soda on the table, you shoot Joel a look.
He raises his hands in surrender silently and heads out of the room, reminding you guys that the party starts in twenty minutes.
“You like your decorations?” you ask once Joel’s gone.
Sarah’s eyes widen and she nods. “I heard you had a thing or two to do with ‘em.”
“I was creative director.”
“He’s so cheesy, ain’t he?”
“He just loves you. I think it’s cute.”
“I’ll bet you two got into, like, six arguments while you were puttin’ them all up. Right?”
You blink rapidly, trying to clear the memory from your eyes in case she reads it. “Nope. None. No arguments.”
You’re thankful when Joel’s front door pushes open and you hear Rita calling down the hall for Sarah, who jumps up and skips to meet her. When you follow, Joel’s in the kitchen doorway, watching you carefully. You know he heard every damn word, from no arguments to you thinking he was being cute.
You ignore him as you brush past, smug smirk on his face.
The backyard slowly starts to fill with more and more people as the afternoon goes on, sun rising higher and higher into the sky. Sarah is swept off by a small wave of school friends, all nineteen, none of whom you really know. One of them asked if you were her sister, and you choked on your drink before Sarah snorted and said, “No, dumbass, she’s my dad’s best friend’s daughter.”
They’re standing like a flock of seagulls over by the pool, shrill giggles piercing the air every ten seconds. Taking selfies, updating Instagram stories. Oh, to be nineteen again.
Being a senior citizen of twenty-three means, unfortunately for you, that you spend most of the afternoon tailing your dad and his buddies. At the food table, slowly depleting of the snacks your dad had practically raided from Costco, you’re witness to a conversation between him and Bill about the housing market.
“…I mean, if she wanted to get a place of her own,” your dad waves a hand in your direction, “how’s she meant to do it? What are they doin’ to help the younger generations get their foot in the door, hm?”
Bill’s shaking his head. Looks like vexation, like he’s agreeing with your dad, but you’ve a sneaking suspicion he’s just pacifying him.
“Maybe you’re better headin’ back to New York, after all, hon,” your dad says, and you raise your eyebrows, biting down on your bottom lip.
“Missin’ it yet?” Bill asks.
You shrug. “Sometimes. Was nice being around people who were into the same stuff as me. But I like being home.”
He nods, looking back down at the pool, sunlight gleaming off the water in ripples.
“She’s got plenty to keep her occupied,” your dad snorts. “Me ‘n Joel keep her right.”
You bite back a laugh. If you only fucking knew.
Bill chortles. “Joel Miller, keepin’ someone right? Now that’s a sight I’d like to see.”
You look over to him, pretending to laugh along, but your brows drop in confusion.
“Ah, they’re close, y’know?” your dad says. “He looks out for her. Think he keeps her on the straight and narrow better ‘n I do, these days, doesn’t he?”
“He, uh…Yeah, sure.” You can barely look him in the eye.
“Tell you what,” Bill twists around to grab another fistful of nuts from the table, “there ain’t nothin’ the good Southern air won’t fix. I notice a difference in you, this time around, kid.”
“Yeah?”
He nods enthusiastically, cheeks full. Still chewing, he says, “Oh, yeah. Hell, you used to come home for Christmas or whatever, ‘n it was like you were bored. Miserable. No offense, don’t take that the wrong way.”
You scoff. “Which way should I take it?”
“Now that you’re back here for good,” he continues, not hearing you, “‘s like someone switched a light on. Doesn’t she seem brighter?”
Your dad turns to survey you and eventually nods. “You happier here, kiddo?”
You shrug, mumble an, “I dunno.”
The men laugh. Bill gives you a clap to the back and strolls off back inside, leaving you and your dad alone.
“Why didn’t you ask that– that boy along?”
“Who? Sam?”
He nods. “Remember you had that date scheduled– I mean, not-date?”
You narrow your eyes. “I don’t think this is his scene.”
“Garden party not macho enough?”
You shake your head in bewilderment. “Macho?”
“Who’s macho?” Joel’s gruff voice sounds from behind.
You swing around to tell him, “Nobody,” and he shrugs, cheeks full with the sandwich he’s just thrown in his mouth.
“Nice,” you muse. “Very garden party of you.”
“Right?”
You smirk, peeling back the wrapper of the cupcake on your plate.
“Those,” Joel leans in, smirk on his lips, voice low, “were made by Nat.” He nods over toward the patio doors, where a blonde woman in a long purple dress stands, chatting to another of Joel’s neighbors. “Remember I told you she was makin’ a cake?”
You turn back to face him, narrow eyes set on his. He smiles innocently, and you can’t help but return it, butterflies tickling your stomach.
“Damn good cake it is, too,” your dad mumbles from your side. “Try some, hon.”
You lift the cupcake to your mouth, never letting go of Joel’s gaze, and run your tongue along the pink icing, collecting it all on the tip. Joel doesn’t move. He’s watching your lips.
Your teeth sink into the soft cake – it is fucking good, though you’d never admit it to Joel. He’s having far too much fun watching you; any more inflation to his ego and he might explode.
“Hm,” you run your tongue over your top lip, “tastes alright. But it’s pink. Sarah’s too old for pink.”
You throw the cupcake back onto your plate and roll your eyes.
Joel scoffs. Entertained. Nice job, kid. “Here,” he says, “you got some icin’ on your–”
He doesn’t finish his sentence, instead, licks his thumb and wipes it along the edge of your lip, collects the icing, then slots it back between his own, and sucks it clean.
Right in front of your fucking dad.
You’re honestly about to mutter a sincere thanks when you remember he’s standing right at your elbow, watching the whole thing. Watching his best friend run his wet thumb across his daughter’s mouth and then taste her on his tongue. Like it’s nothing.
Joel realizes halfway through what he’s doing and yanks his thumb out of his mouth a little too abruptly, nodding at you as if he’s just been courteous. He clears his throat when his arms are back by his side. “Uh…”
Your feet are heavy against the patio. You feel like your limbs are stuck in place, save for your hands, which cause the paper plate locked between your fingers to tremble.
“Th…Thanks.”
It’s all you can muster up the courage to say. You can feel your dad’s eyes on your shoulder like the sun burning your skin.
“Yeah. No problem.”
You stare between the two of them, unsure who’ll break first. Unsure if either of them will, or if you’ll have to cave and say something.
A swish of fabric against the back of your calves jolts life back into you and you hear a soft voice in your left ear.
“See you’re enjoyin’ the cupcakes, then?” she hums to Joel. Your stomach tightens.
“Uh, yeah, they’re, uh…real good, Nat. Thanks again. We were just sayin’ how good they are, weren’t we?” He holds a hand out, past you, to your dad, who nods along. You start to back away.
Joel can tease you all he wants about his next-door neighbor and her pink cupcakes, but you’ve truly never felt more grateful to have another woman approach him and take some of the heat off of you. In a blur of embarrassment and the tiniest sliver of thrill, you take off into the house.
Bill’s in the living room with a couple other men, watching something on TV. You flash by the door and straight upstairs, where it’s quiet, empty. You lock yourself in the bathroom, head immediately falling into your hands.
“Fuck,” you whisper into your palms.
Your pulse is racing, face flushed with color and heat, embarrassment seeping all over you. What the fuck was he thinking? Was he even thinking?
It’s not unlike Joel to do stupid stuff like this just to mess with you when you’re alone. But you know, from the look on his face, from how speechless he suddenly got, you know he didn’t mean it. You know that, right now, he’s probably outside, still being pestered by that lady Nat, feeling the exact same as you are on the inside.
You steady your breathing and crack the window, peering through the sliver of light. Your dad’s still by the snacks. You can hear Nat resuming conversation just below you, out of sight by the patio doors. Where is Joel?
You pull the window open a little more, and crane your neck to scope the entire yard. There, by the pool, Sarah’s friend is stuffing as many marshmallows into his mouth as he can, while the rest video him, hysterically laughing.
You notice a flash of flannel by the work shed and spot him; making his way down a stone path between some bushes. Rita’s on his arm. Good. Means he escaped your dad without much damage done.
You rinse your face over with splashes of cold water, check yourself in the mirror, and head back out. A roar sounds from the living room as you round the bottom of the stairs.
“I didn’t know bowling was so fuckin’ excitin’!” Bill yells.
You slip through the kitchen, drowned in golden sunlight, and back outside. Nat shifts to let you by her and you smile gratefully, her purple dress sweeping across your legs again.
You follow the path behind Joel’s shed, up some steps and dip your head beneath the greenery. It’s obvious what he’s been up to since you and Sarah left; he’s good with his hands. He’s landscaped most of his yard; starting behind the work shed is a small, private pathway which leads to a secluded patio, decorated with potted plants, shrubs, and two wooden chairs. It’s out of view from where the rest of the party are, but you can look down on pretty much everyone from here.
Rita and Joel are in conversation when you round the corner and his eyes lock onto yours.
“Hey, darlin’,” he greets you, so casual you almost forget what just happened. The man is so fucking cool, it almost riles you.
“Thought I saw you guys wander off.”
“Oh, honey, here, take my seat.”
“No, Rita, really. I’ll sit on the arm of Joel’s.”
You lean back onto the wooden arm, thighs dangerously close to Joel’s hands. He flinches as you settle, like he wanted to put a protective hand over your leg, and then remembered your company.
“Nice garden party, huh, Rita?” you chirp, eyes flashing across Joel’s face.
He shakes his head, knocking your leg with the back of his hand to tell you off.
“Oh, it’s gorgeous. Fine day for it, too.” Rita looks up to the clear sky. “Only the best for our Sarah. I’m just keepin’ Mr. Grump company over here.”
“Mr. Grump?” you snort, looking from her to Joel.
He sighs. “I am not bein’ a grump.”
“Are too,” she replies flatly, and Joel turns to stare at her.
“It’s hard work hostin’ so many people, alright?”
Rita chuckles, giving his arm a light slap. “He’s all the way over here to escape the party,” she tells you, sweet smile on her face.
You return it, saying, “That doesn’t sound like Joel at all. He loves people, don’t you?”
Joel grumbles, taking a sip of his beer.
The three of you sit quietly for a few minutes, Rita relaxing in the warm summer air, shade from the trees keeping her cool. You, too close for comfort to Joel, breaking out in a sweat with the need to talk to him about the cupcake incident. And Joel, almost looking bored, right arm on his armrest drawing shapes at the small of your back.
You could fucking scream.
“Well, honey,” Rita eventually says, “since you’re here, I’m going to run to the ladies’ room. You help me up?”
You carefully pull Rita to her feet, and she shakily wanders off back toward the rest of the party, waving a hand and telling you not to let Joel out of your sight. You take her seat in her absence.
“Arm not comfortable?” Joel asks, eyes on the party.
“Huh?”
“I said, arm not comfortable?”
“Not as comfortable as a whole chair.”
“Hm.”
You mock hum in response. “You want me back on the arm? You that needy, baby?”
He looks at you. His tongue in his cheek. “Nah, want you on my lap. But arm is less obvious.”
His words knock the wind out of you, but only for a few seconds. You’re getting good at not swooning at every sexual reference this man makes. You’re also getting shamelessly good at responding to him, matching his energy.
So, you stand, and, while checking nobody’s watching, shuffle over. Back to Joel, you lower yourself down onto his thigh. Swing your head around to look him in the eye.
“Better?”
In reply, he takes your waist in one hand and shifts you so you’re at a ninety-degree angle to him. His knees facing north, yours west.
“Better,” he confirms.
Your brows furrow. “What are you–”
“I thought it over. You ‘n that Zack boy.”
“Wouldn’t say he was a boy, was probably my age–”
“That Zack boy,” Joel repeats. “Him chattin’ to you, asking you about New York. Wantin’ to know if you’re single.”
How much of that conversation did Joel hear?
“He was just–”
“Makin’ conversation? Nah. He was into ya.”
“Well, if you say so. So, you thought it over?”
“Uhuh. I don’t know how I feel about it.”
“About what?”
“About walkin’ up to find you bein’ chatted up by some loser.”
“Oh, ouch, Joel. Zack’s feelings are hurt.”
The corner of his mouth trembles, holding back a laugh. Then he leans in.
“I don’t like to see anyone with their eyes on my girl.”
His girl.
Something inside you stirs. Something between your legs…tenses.
“Your…”
“You think that was nice? The way he was lookin’ at you? You think he wanted to be your friend?”
You stare at him, mouth agape. No words bubble to the surface.
“Nah, baby. He wanted you the way I want you. The way I have you.”
“You…have…And how is it you have me?”
“Sat on my lap, pretty little mouth wide open, wet enough that I can feel you through my jeans.”
He leans back in his chair, and you watch him wordlessly.
Your breath stammering, brain struggling to compute, you mumble, “What are you gonna do with me, then?”
“Hm?” he tilts his head.
“I said, what are you gonna do? With me?”
“Well…” he takes a drink from his bottle, and then studies it in his hand. “I thought you could sweeten my beer for me.”
Your eyebrows raise on their own, your body on autopilot.
“S-sweeten…your…b…”
Joel nods. His eyes track over to the rest of the party, and then back to you.
“Nobody’s watchin’, darlin’. It’s just you ‘n me. Go on. Do it for me.”
He takes the bottle and uses it to part your legs, before sliding it under your dress. You watch like you’re not even inside your body, just a passenger to Joel and his movements. All you know is you want him to do whatever the fuck he’s about to do.
The lip of the bottle pushes your panties aside, and you feel it line up at your lips. Joel looks up at you then with a question in his gaze.
You stare at him a few moments longer, and he lets you. He knows you’re taking this all in, even if it feels like it’s all in slow motion. He lets you take your time with your answer.
You nod, breathless. Do it. And he pushes up.
Your fingers immediately lock around his wrist, the beginnings of a moan escaping your lips. Joel tuts softly, wrist never stopping, just slowly inserting the bottle, neck gliding through your wet folds to your center.
You’re gasping, still holding onto him to steady yourself, coming back to earth only momentarily to check nobody’s nearby.
“Ain’t no one comin’, sweetheart,” Joel coos in your ear, “I’m watchin’. Just you enjoy.”
When the bottleneck fills you up, he pulls it back again. Your eyes begin to roll at the feeling of it dragging out of you. Your head cocks, body going limp. Lips seal shut, trapping a whine.
You rationalize it with three things. First off: nobody can see you here, not from down on the patio. Second: even if they could, Joel’s watching. And thirdly: you don’t give the slightest of fucks.
Joel and his ideas, Joel and his fucking ideas, forever pushing any other thought out of your head and replacing it with a want to please him, a need to do the things he asks of you. Forever washing away all your good instinct, leaving behind only the ache between your legs and the lust behind your eyes.
Joel starts fucking you – really fucking you – pumping the neck of his bottle in and out of your cunt. You’re doing everything not to scream out. Your hand grips tighter on his wrist and he smiles, looking down to the sight of the pair of you working together, fucking you together, chasing your high together.
“Liked it when I touched you, didn’t you,” he breathes, wrist jacking, “liked when I put my hand on you in front of everyone.”
“Did you like it?” you ask, head lulling, eyes folding shut. Legs opening wider just a fraction. Back beginning to arch.
He laughs. “Yeah, I liked it, baby.”
“Then I liked it, too.”
You like it when he talks to you. Like picturing the things he’s saying. The shock of Joel’s thumb on your lips. The desire you felt to part them and suck on it, right there and then.
Then, a twisted thought crosses your mind.
“Did you…did you like…oh…did you like N-Nat comin’ up…to you?” you whisper as Joel pushes the bottle deeper.
He growls, teeth locking together in some weird grimace of a smile. “Who’s jealous now, baby?”
You smile, head falling back. The sky is bright and blue and it burns your eyes to look, but then, your whole body is aflame.
You know he doesn’t care about anyone else. Know you’re the only one he wants to be doing this stuff with. But you’re there now, so might as well follow it through.
“You don’t– Fuck, Joel, fuck…You don’t think she’s…h-hot?”
He hums. Considers it. “Who’s sitting on my lap gettin’ fucked right now, pretty girl?”
“M-me,” you wobble, grinning.
“You,” he agrees, and pushes the bottle further.
You start to feel dizzy, the blood pumping through your ears deafening you. You place your hand on Joel’s knee to steady yourself as your legs give, cunt dripping everywhere. You can hear it, can feel it.
“Joel,” you pine, “’m close.”
“It’s okay, it’s okay,” Joel’s purring, lips pressed against your ear. “You can cum, baby, I got you.”
Your hand comes up to grip the collar of his shirt – you’d worry about it looking suspicious, but your mind is somewhere else entirely as the pressure between your legs starts to unravel at rapid pace. It all becomes too much too quickly, and you can’t stifle the sounds from your lips any longer.
Your legs clamp shut, knuckles whiten, pussy throbs around the neck of Joel’s beer bottle. You cum for him for the second time today, quietly whimpering as his free hand rubs your hip, coaxing you back to earth.
“That’s my girl,” he breathes, “good girl. All over it, darlin’, that’s it.”
“Joel…” you’re panting, orgasm bearing down on your body.
He’s still lulling you through it, whispering words you can’t make out into your ear, lips pressed against your hair. He slowly slips the bottle from between your legs and sets it on the armrest, replacing his hand on your bare thigh.
It’s fucking covered in you. Your wet runs down into the beer, slick coating the outside of the neck. You can’t take your eyes off it, can’t fucking believe what’s just happened.
You take a deep breath of the sweet breeze, Joel’s arms around your waist, rubbing you gently. You lean down and nuzzle your head into the crook of his neck.
A few minutes pass, couple songs on the stereo go by. Your hands toying with one of his, your breathing steadying against his chest. Joel mumbles into your hair.
“Your dad’s lookin’ for us.”
“How d’you know?” you mutter into his shirt, eyes closing over.
“That’s the third time he’s gone in ‘n out of the kitchen.”
“Maybe he’s just hungry.”
His chest jumps once with a laugh and he sits you both up. You stand wearily and Joel holds onto your hand as you slink back into the chair by his side. As you heave one leg over the other, core still throbbing, your dad emerges from around the shed. Joel lets your hand drop.
“Rita’s wantin’ home,” your dad murmurs, rolling his eyes.
“She ain’t much of a partier,” Joel says, lifting the beer to his lips. You stare at the lip of the bottle as his mouth kisses it, drink mixed with…well, you, spilling out onto his tongue. The neck is pearlescent with your cum. You feel lightheaded.
“You alright, honey? your dad asks, and his hand comes down on your shoulder. Gently, but it still makes you jump.
“Y-yeah,” you reply, dragging your gaze from Joel’s lips. “Just…the sun, I think.”
Your dad looks worried, rubs the top of your back. “You need to go home?”
You shake your head, panting a little. “No, I’m good.”
“I’ll keep an eye on her,” Joel says. The bottle’s between his thighs now, he’s twirling it. It’s like it’s a trophy to him. He props his elbow on his armrest and gives your shoulder a squeeze.
Your dad gives Joel an appreciative nod, then glares back at you. “You call me if you need me, alright? I’ll be ten minutes, tops.”
You muster up the energy to make some joke about going too fast in the car with Rita. Your dad chuckles, then nods again to Joel, and disappears around the corner.
“You okay?” Joel asks when he’s gone.
You return his glance, energy coming back. “Sweeten your beer? Where the fuck did you come up with that one?”
He’s grinning. Do you want to slap him, or mount him?
“Can’t let you in on all my secrets, can I, darlin’?”
You roll your head back, resting softly against the wooden chair.
“Alright. Just keep doin’ that.”
“Doin’ what?”
“Surprising me. See where it gets you.”
Joel laughs through his nose; you hear the quiet rumble of his chest.
“We better get,” he says, tapping your knee as he stands. “Before everyone goes home.”
“Thought that’s what you wanted?” you reply, taking his outstretched hand and pulling yourself up.
“Oh, I’m sorry,” Joel mutters as you walk off in front of him, “did I say before everyone goes home? I meant to make everyone go home.”
Joel gets his wish soon enough. It’s almost four o’clock when you return to the party; Sarah and her friends are up in her room, Bill’s roped about three others in to join his new bowling watch party, and most of the guests are either gone, or getting ready to head. The garden is empty when you throw yourself back on a lounge chair, enjoying the quiet.
You feel yourself dipping in and out of sleep, sun keeping you warm, breeze lightly kissing your cheek. The music from the stereo has been turned down, so you listen contently to the quiet hum of country, making a mental note to tease Joel about it later.
You’re filled with a peaceful content, a little tired from your ridiculous antics, but happy. You’re starting to understand what Bill was talking about; that bright cheeriness always makes an appearance when you’ve been around one person in particular, doesn’t it?
“Dad?” Sarah’s voice sings through the open door from the kitchen. She peers through the shades, spotting you by the pool. “You seen my dad?”
You shake your head. “Not a clue.” Lifting the bottom of your bottle to drain the last of your beer on your tongue, you haul yourself up – with a huge effort – to sit up straight.
“Will you tell him I’m goin’ out? We’re gonna catch a movie.”
“I’m not invited?”
She snorts. “You can come if you want. Thought you might still be feelin’ funny, is all.”
“I’m good. Enjoy. I’ll tell ‘im when he makes a reappearance.”
“Bye, babe!” she disappears back into the house.
You give her a wave as her silhouette heads down the hall. Joel’s back gate squeals open and your dad’s voice calls in from your left.
“That Rita can chat, huh?”
He latches the gate closed, then drags a deckchair over beside you.
“You were quicker than I thought you’d be.”
“She wanted to show me some cross-stitch thing she’s been workin’ on. Told her you weren’t feelin’ great ‘n I should probably head back.”
You furrow your brows. “Poor Rita, she means well.”
“I know, I know. Just, next time you see her, keep the story up.”
You scoff. “You seen Joel?”
Your question is answered by the grumble which sounds from the kitchen. He appears seconds later, stretches his arms high above his head, then stalks over.
You did try to avert your gaze from the trail of hair under his belly button. You swear. But it was right fucking there.
He hoists a second chair over to your right. “Too much effort,” he mutters, throwing himself into it. “I’m glad they’re all gone.”
You laugh lazily and rest back. “Sarah’s gone to the movies.”
Joel nods in response, the sun hitting off of him and lighting him like some kind of Adonis. You struggle to pull your eyes away from him, mesmerized by the way the light hits his worn skin, reflects out of his deep-set brown eyes, ignites strands of his graying hair.
You fucking hate what he does to you, the aftermath of him making you cum. As if there’s some drug running through your veins, making you want him, need him. Need his arms around you, his skin on yours. Need more of his attention, as if phone sex and whatever the fuck that was with the bottle weren’t enough for the day.
Your eyes travel down his strong, thick arms, hair covering them just the perfect amount, down to his hands; rough, worked, but gentle, kind. They grip the armrests of his chair, and you imagine the same grip around your neck as he…
“Y’know, actually, this was a lot less stress than I thought it’d be,” your dad yaps, bursting your bubble. “Why so last minute, Joel?”
“Sarah only decided she wanted somethin’ a few days ago, and she’s out of town next weekend, so had to be this week.”
“Oh? Me ‘n her both. Where’s she off to?”
Your head darts around to look at your dad. Then, when he speaks, back to Joel.
“Nashville. Just for a few days. Goin’ with some friends from school, I think. They’re flyin’ out on Friday, be back Monday night. Girls’ trip, I guess.”
You shoot back to your dad, like you’re watching a damn tennis match.
“Funny that. Don’t you have a girls’ night on Saturday, hon?”
Staring at him dumbfounded for a few seconds, you nod slowly. “Mhm.”
“I’m headin’ up to Fort Worth for work,” he tells Joel.
Joel looks at you from the corner of his eyes. You slowly draw your gaze to meet his, mouth falling open a little.
“Yeah? This that big fancy client of yours?” he asks your dad, shifting in his seat.
“Sure is. He’s askin’ too much of me, these days. All these late nights, now workin’ the weekends?” He lets out a little chuckle, shaking his head.
You tear your glance from your Adonis to the pool ahead of you. You finally find your voice, knowing that, with this final piece of information, the fate of your weekend is sealed.
“You there long?”
“Just Saturday through Sunday.”
Well, fuck.
You and Joel exchange a knowing glance, his eyes darkening already.
“I’m sure you’ll be alright without me for one night, hon,” the voice from your left chuckles, but you’re both already elsewhere.
You will be fine without him, of course you will. You’re twenty-three. You’re a grown-up.
And you’ve got Joel to keep you company.

-PROLOGUE-
Strolling leisurely down the bustling streets for a cozy, romantic coffee date, fingers entwined, greedily savoring each other’s warmth. Each step the two of you took, resonated with a rhythm on the footpath that stretched ahead in the bustling cityscape. Amidst the bustling chaos of the city, snippets of conversations floating around and the distant hum of traffic, a comfortable silence stretched between the two of you with occasional exchange of shy yet mischievous glances and tender smiles.
However, the romantic stroll came to an abrupt halt when a young guy holding a camera, most likely recording, blocked the path ahead of you two.
“Sorry to interrupt, but are you two a couple?”, he inquired with a friendly smile. His eyes, subtly reflecting guilt, silently apologized for the sudden intrusion.

VERE
In the blink of an eye, Vere’s guard shot up, his relaxed easy-going demeanor vanishing instantly.
Before he could do something that might land you both behind bars, you stepped in with a firm grip on his arm.
“No, we are siblings,” you said flatly, shooting a sarcastic smile at the stranger.
The stranger mistook that for an invitation to laugh loudly, but one withering look from Vere made him choke on it.
“My bad, I interview couples about their first meetings. Care to share your story with the world?” he waved his camera with a grin that could only be described as overly optimistic.
You seemed intrigued as you studied the stranger for a moment before turning to Vere who looked equally amused but masked it with an indifferent expression.
“What do you think? Want to reveal your not so sneaky tactics?” you teased.
“I never claimed to be subtle,” Vere replied smugly.
You rolled your eyes which only encouraged Vere to go on.
“I gave their key back,” he said, feigning innocence.
“You stole my key!” you shot back, scoffing.
“Me? A common thief?”, Vere gasped dramatically, his hand over his heart. “Oh, the horror!”
His overly pleased smile only irritated you further.
“Don’t play coy,” you said, narrowing your eyes. ”I was strolling around that fancy hotel, not expecting a heist in broad daylight.”
“Darling, do you think someone of my stature,” he gestured towards his extravagant robe,” Would stoop to stealing? And your room of all the places? Please give me some credit.” He retorted, unable to contain his amusement.
The stranger hesitated, caught between your assertive demeanor and Vere’s smooth charm.
“So, you stole their —” the stranger began cautiously.
“Returned,” Vere corrected him smoothly, cutting him off.
“Uhm...” the stranger stammered, shooting a nervous glance at you.
Vere seized the opportunity before you could interject.
“Oh, my silly thing,” he said with a chuckle, his gaze flickered towards you.
“They are not the most vigilant when it comes to their belongings. No surprise they didn’t notice their key missing from their pocket.”
You could see the cunning glint behind Vere’s sweet smile.
“And like the kind and benevolent being that I am,” he continued, finding his own words rather entertaining. “I returned it to them dutifully.”
You sighed, caught between exposing his lie or playing along.
“Kind and benevolent being, my foot” you muttered under your breath, unable to hold back your bite.
The stranger attempted to decipher what you muttered, while Vere chuckled, his keen ears catching every word you said.
“Um… I see,” the stranger chuckled nervously, deciding it was the safest response.
“That's quite the unconventional first encounter,” he remarked, sensing Vere wasn’t quite telling the whole truth.
You and Vere exchanged a glance that resembled the intense stare-down opponents share in a fighting ring.
“Forgive my curiosity, I just can’t resist,” he chuckled, as if finding the couple’s dynamic wildly entertaining.
“But it’s rare for me to encounter partners,” he paused, searching for the right words.” As unique as you guys.” He didn’t want to accidentally step on any toes with a poorly chosen phrase.
“Don't hold back, use your words,” Vere challenged the stranger with a smug look.
“Never seen two stunning individuals together?”
His gaze drifted towards you with a sense of pride,” I can't blame you though, we do have a knack for turning heads and capturing wandering eyes.”
You weren't about to take his words at face value, for all you knew he could be pulling a sick joke on you right now.
“They are just effortlessly radiant,” he purred suggestively, hands gripping your waist with a vice-like grip.
“I am not possessive really,” he added nonchalantly,” After all they are quite pleasant to look at — but others better stick to just looking.” He laughed disguising the subtle threat as a joke.
You give a comically blank stare at the camera.
The stranger whispered teasingly,” Blink twice if you need help.”
Matching his playful energy with a mischievous grin, you shot back,” My Hero!”
Vere scoffs in disapproval and pulls you closer, as if there were any space left between you to begin with.
“Tell me more about your first meeting,” the stranger said eagerly.
“Like we were saying, he sto–” One icy look from Vere made you pause. You rolled your eyes and exaggeratedly said,” He returned my key.”
“And as you can imagine, we exchanged heartfelt thank yous and warm welcomes,” you added with mock sincerity, clearly failing to sound convincing.
Vere snickered, enjoying your struggle.
The stranger gave a quizzical look, clearly not buying your story.
You shot a glare at Vere. If he was going to find amusement in twisting the facts of what really happened, then you might as well give him something to squirm about. Two could play this game, right?
“You know,” you began, smiling devilishly, “Our first meeting wasn't just about a key. Vere here actually serenaded me in the hotel lobby. He even got down on one knee and sang a beautiful song, confessing his undying love for me.”
You kept a poker face throughout your ridiculous story, delivering it with such conviction as if it were the most normal thing in the world when it came to your lover.
"Wha–when? Absolutely not!” Vere scoffed, shooting you a sharp look. “Your sense of humor could use some work.”
You smirked, undeterred. “He’s just a little shy about it,” you continued smoothly. “It was a surprisingly sweet gesture—but, true to his style, he still collected a few tips from the onlookers.”
Vere groaned, rubbing his temples. “For the record, that never happened.”
And the interviewer barely had a chance to react before Vere cut in, his voice edged with impatience. “Any other questions? We don’t have all the time in the world.”
The interviewer paused, eyebrows raised, then gave a slight chuckle. “Straight to business, I see,” with a wry smile he continued “Alright then, let’s skip to the more pressing matters.”
“How long have you two been together?”
“Uh… it’s been a while,” you admit.
The interviewer raised an eyebrow. “A while?”
You nodded, “Maybe a year? Why?” curious at the look of slight disbelief the stranger was giving you two.
Vere arched a brow, looking amused. “What’s wrong? Don’t think we look the part?”
“A year is a long time, uh... I mean,” the stranger stammered, flustered by Vere’s offended expression. “Don’t get me wrong! It’s just that, with how lively you two are, I expected it to be only a few months.”
He chuckled nervously, "You know, like, fresh and new, full of energy?”
“Fresh and new, full of energy?” Vere repeats his words with disappointment,” tsk..I was hoping for a bit more flattery. I like to think we are rather passionate, quite intense when it comes to our romance.”
“That you two sure are without a doubt!” The stranger replied with a cheeky smile,” The two of you could easily outshine any silver screen romance.”
Vere smirked in approval, “Now you are speaking my language.”
“Thank you but honestly, I wouldn’t go that far,” you responded, opting to show a bit of modesty.
Vere couldn’t help but snicker,” Aren’t you such a saint?” he whispered teasingly, leaning in close to you.
You shot him a warning look. Vere leaned back, casually running his tongue over his sharp canine with a hint of sass and flair.
The stranger pondered whether to ask for relationship advice. It wasn’t like he had anything against you really, it was Vere.
From the exchange, it was painfully clear that Vere was the last person anyone would seek out for advice—especially on relationships, consulting him on anything involving emotional finesse would be futile if not a mild form of punishment.
But this was his signature question—the final one he asked every couple on his YouTube channel. And this interview would be no exception no matter how awkward the conversation got.
“Any advice for the audience on how to keep a long-term commitment while keeping the passion alive?”
You paused, taking a moment to gather your thoughts. “Hmm...”
Vere threw an expectant look your way with a cheeky smile playing at his lips.
“Give each other space when needed,” you emphasize, speaking from experience, "Distance makes the heart grow fonder, that’s the saying right?” You smile.
You could feel Vere’s eyes on you, his usual smirk softening a bit.
“It’s the best strategy after a heated argument or if things feel a bit… stale,” you continue thoughtfully.
“Take a step back to reflect and recharge on your own. Artists take breaks to create their best work—and love is art.” You finish with a casual shrug, as if it were the simplest truth.
“Wow,” the interviewer breathed, clearly caught off guard by your answer. “Never thought of it like that—really unique perspective.”
He glanced between you and Vere, visibly impressed. “I think a lot of people could use that kind of advice.”
“Not going to ask me?” Vere interjected, feigning offence as he shot the interviewer a dramatic look.
You rolled your eyes, knowing full well he was just trying to make him squirm.
“O-of course!” the interviewer stammered, casting a nervous glance at Vere. “Is there… anything you’d like to add?”
Vere leaned back, a slow, satisfied smile spreading across his face as he held the interviewer’s gaze. “My sweetheart took the words right out of my mouth,” he replied smoothly, giving you an impressed look.
“Left you speechless?” you teased, a smirk tugging at your lips. “Really? That sharp tongue of yours has nothing to add?”
Vere raised a brow, clearly amused. “Careful,” he replied smugly. “I might surprise you yet.”
“Try me,” you challenged, crossing your arms with a playful grin.
Vere leaned in slightly, his eyes gleaming with mischief. “Alright then,” he said, a smirk creeping onto his face. “Just remember, you asked for it.”
“Like they said just now, love is art, right?” Vere echoed your words, a glint of passion in his eyes. “Show it with the dedication an artist has for their masterpiece. Pay attention to each other—whether it’s through words of affirmation, thoughtful gifts, playful teasing, or even creating something just for them. It’s not about how you express it, but the thought behind it. Let them know you see them.”
Then, with a playful smirk and a wink, he leaned in, “And of course... don’t shy away from a little heat. Hell, celebrate your love with all the passion and sensuality it deserves.”
You and the stranger exchanged a glance, momentarily speechless. It was rare to see Vere reveal something so genuine, let alone speak with such depth.
After a beat, he scoffed, breaking the silence. “This is exactly why I keep the deep stuff to myself,” he muttered, half to himself.
The stranger chuckled, breaking the tension.
“Well, that was some solid advice,” he beamed at the couple. “I must say, I’m pleasantly surprised.”
“Yeah, whatever,” Vere replied, shooting a glare at his watch. “Are we done now?”
“Looks like our interview wraps up here,” the stranger chuckled,” It was really fun talking to you two.”
“Not so fast,” Vere pulls out his phone,” name?”
“Wh-What?” the stranger sweats nervously.
“Of the YouTube account where you will be posting this video,” Vere clarified with a dramatic eye roll.
“O-oh, r-right!” The stranger sighed in relief.
After sharing the details, Vere let out a low whistle and then smirked. “You better have caught my good side while recording, or I might just come find you.”
“Guess he’s safe then; you always look good,” you teased, playing along with his antics. His arrogance, though a bit off-putting, was softened by his undeniable charm and good looks. For you, it was all wildly entertaining.
Vere chuckled, very pleased at the praise, “True. What’s it like to look bad? I wouldn’t know.”
The stranger watched, still debating whether to take Vere’s word seriously, and the look on his face amused you both.
It sent both you and Vere into a fit of laughter, much to the stranger’s relief as he relaxed into the moment.
“I suppose we can wrap this up here, hm?” The stranger raised his hand in a final parting wave.
You smiled politely, while Vere turned to leave.
Just as you two were walking away, Vere glanced over his shoulder with an impish grin. “We should do this again sometime. Maybe next time we could come back for part two.”
The stranger chuckled, relieved by the light-hearted end to their encounter.
” I will hold you to that! Take care, you two.”

Eyes of a Stranger- E.M.
Did anyone ask for a Soulmate!AU? No! Did it bring me joy to write? Of course! Here you go my thirsty friends! Love you!
You move across the country to start looking for your Soulmate. Enter: Eddie Munson.
Masterlist
TW- Cursing, drinking, super fluffy fluff at the end
Pairings- Soulmate!Eddie x Reader
Word Count- 4,891
There’s a gap in your vision. There has been since you were born. It’s one of the facts of life. Everyone is born without their full color spectrum. There’s some chemical imbalance that prohibits it before the right time, and you hate it. You always have. Everyone talks about how beautiful brunettes are, or how delicious chocolate looks melting in a fondue pot, or bread, or even your childhood dog, but you can’t see it, and no matter how hard everyone tries to describe it to you, it never makes any sense when you look and see shades of grey.
Your parents told you the stories of how they met, how their vision suddenly became full technicolor the moment they locked eyes on each other. How the colors finally swirled into place, completing the puzzle they’d spent their whole lives wondering about. It was one of your favorite bedtime stories, and you remember begging to hear it over and over again until their comforting voices lulled you to sleep.
They were some of the fortunate ones. It’s not entirely uncommon for people to go their full lives without finding their soulmates. The world is wide, after all, but people can find love elsewhere, even if it’s not with the person they were meant on a cellular level to be with.
As you grew, you found some small comfort in that fact, allowing yourself to explore the world past the missing warmth of brown that people describe. You let yourself have romantic partners no matter the color of their eyes, explored the nuances of casual and more serious relationships. How could you ever miss something that was never there, anyway? Of course, underneath that lies the crippling fear that you wouldn’t be one of the lucky ones. Sure, there are stories of people finding soulmates even in their last few years of life, but it doesn’t bring you any ease to think that there is someone out there, waiting for you, and the more time you spend apart is one less moment you’ll spend together.
So, as you near your 23rd birthday, you decide to leave your hometown. You’ve spent your whole life intentionally meeting the eyes of nearly everyone you’ve come across, hoping to find the person that will make you whole, to no avail. It’s time you find new eyes to search.
There are so many places, so many people that the only way you could ever decide on where to go is to not decide at all. You taped a map to the wall and threw a dart. First, it landed in America, then, on the American map, it landed in Indiana, and on the map of Indiana, it landed on a little town called Hawkins. “It’s as good a place to start as any,” You mumble, taking the dart out of the wall. The goodbyes to your family and friends are hard and tearful, but they know just as well as you how important this is. A couple of your friends had already found their soulmates, and every time you saw them together, your heart ached for their happiness.
The journey to Hawkins is hard and long, moving all your belongings, finding an apartment with a rental agreement for just six months—if you don’t find your soulmate there, you’d move on to the next place—and a job that could support you while also giving you the opportunity to see a lot of people in a day. But you did it, and a few days after leaving home, you’re settling into your new apartment in the heart of Hawkins Proper.
It’s small, and the plumbing creaks when you flush the toilet or turn on the shower, but it’s yours for the time being, and that’s enough for you. You arrange your sparce furniture the best you can to make it feel homey, and figure if things go well, you can always get more. The job you found is nice, and the people you work with are kind and funny, and soon you’ve made a little home for yourself in this strange, new place.
“Y/N!” Your coworker, Steve shouts from across the Family Video. You look up from the shelf of movies you’re stocking over to where he stands behind the counter, his arms laying on the surface, shaggy bangs falling into his face as it always does when he doesn’t put a whole bottle of Farah Fawcett hairspray in it.
“What’s up?” You call back, glancing between him and the movies as you put the cassette tapes back in their proper spaces.
“I’m going on my lunch. You want something from the Dairy Queen?” You ponder his question for a moment, your mouth quirking as you think.
“Yeah, can you get me an Oreo blizzard? And a chicken strip basket? I have cash in my purse,” You raise your eyebrows at him, and he gives a solemn nod.
“I got you. I’ll be back in ten.” Steve turns and starts toward the back exit, and you go back to your work stocking the tapes, emptying the basket of returns as you meander from shelf to shelf finding the proper places.
You hear the doorbell ring, and you raise your head, looking toward the door to the customer coming in. “Welcome to Family Video!” You greet. The man walking toward the horror shelves, and he looks over his shoulder in your direction and gives a nod. His eyes are obscured by a pair of dark sunglasses, which always irks you only because you won’t have the opportunity to look into his eyes.
You walk back toward the counter to prepare to check the man out when he’s finished his selection when he looks back over to you. His dark, shaggy curls flop over part of his face as he calls out to you. “Do you guys have Pet Semetary in yet?”
“Uhh, let me check,” You go over to the computer and type in the title. When the page loads, you let out a noise of recognition as you look back over to the man. “Yes, we do. But it’s still in the New Releases. Let me go find it for you,” You make your way around the counter to walk over to the New Releases wall, scanning the titles with your eyes, hands on your hips until you spot it. You bend over to pick it up and bring it back over to the counter, where the man is waiting for you to return.
“Thanks,” he says, giving a small smile. He looks to be about your age. The hands he has rested on the surface of the counter are littered in heavy silver rings, and he’s clad in a faded, moth-eaten Iron Maiden shirt with an acid wash jean vest over it. There’s a small hoop in one of his nostrils, which glints lightly under the fluorescent lights hanging above you. The mostly black curls that hang around his face are highlighted grey where the light hits, so you assume it must be brown. He’s handsome, for sure. His relaxed features give him a refreshing air about him, like you know he’d be an easy friend to have.
“No problem. Will this be all for you today?” You ask, your customer service voice lilting in the air. He pouts his lips for a moment, looking down at the candy selection below the counter before picking up a king size Reese’s and placing it and sliding it toward you.
“This too, please,” he says, his pretty smile returning to his boyish features.
“Sure,” You scan the candy and place it in a plastic bag with the movie. “Can I get your name please?” You ask, moving over to the computer to pull up his profile.
“Oh, hey Munson. What’s up, man?” Steve comes from behind you, having returned from his break, and you look over your shoulder to his award-winning smile as he offers a hand to the man to clasp.
“Harrington,” he says in greeting, a breathtaking toothy smile curling at his lips as he takes Steve’s hand in a light slap. “You know, just hanging out,” He shrugs. “What about you?”
“Oh, you know, I’m just... here,” Steve lets out a small laugh. You watch the interaction, waiting for the two men to finish to complete the transaction. Steve looks over to you and gestures in your direction. “This is Y/N, she’s new in town. Maybe she should come out with us next time we go out to the bar. She needs more friends,” Steve jokes, and you hit him lightly in the shoulder, scoffing.
“Oh, shut up, Steve. It’s not like I’m a loner. I’ve got you and Rob,” You justify.
“Yeah, only me and Rob. There’s a whole wide Hawkins out there still to discover, Y/N,” You roll your eyes and shrug off the arm he’s casually rested over your shoulders at that and settle your gaze back on Steve’s friend, who holds a hand out for you to shake.
“I’m Eddie, nice to meet you,” You take his hand and shake it briefly, a friendly smile forming on your lips.
“Nice to meet you, too. I’m Y/N L/N,” He gives a quirk of a smile as your hands leave each other. Steve tuns to you, his hand on your shoulder as you look away from Eddie’s face to listen to him.
“Well, I put your lunch in the break room, if you wanna go ahead and eat. I can finish taking care of Eddie if you want,” You give a nod, moving out of the way for Steve to take over the computer. You give one more small wave to Eddie.
“It was nice to meet you!” You say.
“Yeah, you too,” he says. “And you’re definitely welcome to come hang out with us sometime. We usually go chill at the Hideout at least once a week so, you know, you can get the details from Stevie, here,” You can see him quirk a playful eyebrow over his dark sunglasses as he reaches over to clap Steve on the shoulder. A chuckle passes your lips at the nickname, but even more at Steve’s dry reaction to it.
“Okay, thanks,” You turn to Steve. “I’ll be back in 30 Stevie,” You give Steve a playful bump of your hip before turning and walking toward the back.
“Yeah, ha ha, whatever, dude,” He scoffs, feigning annoyance. You give another laugh as you push the door open, the smell of your lunch wafting through the otherwise stale air of the back.
The end of the day nears, and you and Steve are cleaning up the store preparing to close when he mentions Eddie again. “So, I think we’re gonna go out Friday night if you wanna come with us. It’ll be chill. Just some drinks, maybe some pool. Then we usually go to Benny’s after for some burgers. You in?” You shrug, pushing the dust mop across the floor.
“Yeah, sure. Not like I’ve got anything better to do,” Your eyebrow quirks in thought then as the silence comes back over the store. “Can I ask you something?”
Steve looks up from where he’s wiping down the counters. “Sure, what’s up?”
“Has Eddie... has he found his soulmate?” You try to say it casually, but Steve lets out a taunting sound, his elbows going to rest on the surface of the counter as he wiggles his eyebrows at you.
“Ahh, you like him?” His sugary tone makes a heat break out on your face, and you roll your eyes, trying to brush it off.
“Not necessarily,” You try to defend yourself. “I just don’t like it when people come in with sunglasses. It’s a pet peeve, I guess. I just don’t like the not knowing part,” You hear Steve scoff from across the store as you reach the far wall with the dustmop, turning around and starting back the other way.
“Well, no, he hasn’t found his yet. What color are you missing?” He inquires.
“Brown,”
“Oh really? Eddie’s eyes are brown.” Steve muses. You scoff at that. You may find Eddie attractive, but what are the freaking odds that the first place you’d moved to would be the home of the one person on the planet you’ve been waiting for your whole life?
“Come on, Steve. There are 7 billion people on this planet. What are the chances, really? I was just curious,”
“It happens every day! Everyone’s got someone out there, Y/N. Why couldn’t it be Eddie? Hell, why couldn’t it be me? Or Robin? Or Keith? Just because the chances are slim doesn’t mean they’re zero,” It’s almost like he’s reminding himself of that, too. You’re not the only one that struggles with not having their soulmate. Steve is nothing if not a romantic, you’ve learned. You’ve caught him more than once smiling at the store TV on a slow day, with what as well should be heart eyes while watching some sappy romance movie. You can only imagine that he’s wishing that it were him with his soulmate. You definitely do, from time to time.
“Yeah, I guess you’re right. But that doesn’t change the fact that the chances are incredibly slim. Like, one in 7 billion slim.” You wouldn’t mind if it were Eddie. You wouldn’t mind if it were anybody. Maybe it’s your quarter life crisis talking, but you’d throw yourself into the arms of anybody who made you see brown. It’s all you’ve ever wanted.
You used to imagine what your soulmate looked like as a kid. It was actually a school assignment once, in first grade or so. An art project. You remember your parents had it hung on the fridge for a long time, sloppy first grader scribbles with big grey circles for eyes and pink hearts littered around the piece of paper.
Friday is busy. People like to rent movies in preparation for the weekend. All day it’s person after person as you, Robin, and Steve rotate around the store putting movies away, stocking candy and popcorn, and checking customers out at the register. You’re over near the 18+ section putting away the Z movies when you hear Eddie’s voice over the din of people milling around the store. “Hey, guys. We still on for tonight?” You glance over at Eddie, who’s in a black and white t-shirt that looks just a tad too small—a blessing for you as the sleeves hug his generous biceps, black ink peeking out from beneath— and torn jeans today. There’s a chain hanging from his belt loop and as your eyes look to his face, you see he’s not wearing sunglasses today. Maybe you’ll be able to look and finally put your nagging thoughts to rest.
“Excuse me miss, can you help me?” You turn to look at the middle-aged lady who’s gently tapped your shoulder, taking in her blue eyes as you stand to talk to her. Like Steve said the other night, there’s a chance your soulmate could be anyone.
“Of course, what can I do for you?” You keep your attention on her but flick your eyes toward the counter, where you see Eddie still talking to Robin. Just a peek. Just one, and you can stop thinking about it. The lady’s voice pulls your eyes away at the request for the location of a movie, and you dutifully show her the way, taking glances where you can, only to see the shaggy mop of curls obscuring a proper view of Eddie’s face, which you know has that pretty smile as he laughs at a dumb joke Robin threw his way. When you reach the right shelves, you have to bend down to get the movie she’s looking for, and you hand it to her quickly. As you turn back to where Eddie and Robin were standing, talking, laughing, just a moment ago, you find the spot empty. Damn it. I’ll see him later, you think, shrugging it off as you make your way back to the basket of movies waiting to be put away at the back of the store.
The last dregs of the day give you a bit more energy as the store gets increasingly quieter as less and less people come in in the final hour of open time. There’s more laughter among the three of you, joking and talking about your plans for tonight.
“So, do you want us to pick you up?” Steve asks, looking to you as you sort through new returns.
“Yeah, that would be great!” You give him a smile. “Can you pick me up at about 10:30? We’re meeting Eddie at 11, right?”
Steve nods, tying up a trash bag to take out to the dumpster. “Yeah, that’s cool,” He says.
“Oh, and you don’t need to wear anything super fancy or whatever. It’s a pretty seedy dive bar, we’re going to, so jeans is fine,” Robin adds. You nod appreciatively at the advice and take a moment to write down your address on a stray post-it to hand to Steve.
“Here you go, and my phone number is on there too, just in case you need it,” Steve takes it, looks at it for a moment, and then stuffs it into his pocket for later.
“Awesome. Well, if you want to go ahead and clock out, Robin and I can finish up here. We’ve just gotta finish counting the drawer and take the trash out.”
“Thanks! I guess I’ll see you in a bit, then,” You wave to both of them and make your exit to the back of the store to where your car is parked and drive home to your apartment. You decide to take a quick shower to strip the layer of grime accumulated from your work day from your body, letting the warm water carry away the stress down the drain. After that, you dry your hair roughly with your blow dryer before making your way to your tiny bedroom closet to look for something to wear.
You know Robin said not to wear anything fancy, but you do want to look nice. There’s a 1 in 7 billion chance that Eddie is your soulmate, but even if he isn’t, it would be nice to have someone as good looking as him flirt with you for the night. You decide on a hand me down pair of bellbottoms from your mom that makes your butt look incredible and a simple black halter top. You pair it with a nice long necklace that trails down your cleavage, just to give a path for Eddie or whoever to look down and some small gold earrings. You want to do a nice neutral makeup look, but browns are obviously a difficult color to work with, so you make do with orange and peach tones.
You’re only waiting for about 10 minutes until you hear a knock at your door, and you open it to a smiling Robin. “Hey! Are you ready?”
“Yeah, let me just grab my purse,” You walk across the room to the kitchen counter to your waiting bag, already packed with your essentials for the night before walking back, key in hand to lock the door behind you.
The drive over to the hideout is short, and Steve pulls into one of the only parking spaces available. “I thought you said this was a seedy dive bar?” You say, an eyebrow quirking up at all the cars littered around the lot. Steve makes a face in the rearview mirror as he puts his car into park.
“Yeah, but it’s still one of the only bars in town. There aren’t many places to choose from on a Friday night,” You let out a scoff at that, but shrug it off as you click your seatbelt off and open the door to get out.
You follow Steve and Robin into the bar, handing your IDs to the bouncer to look at before he gives you a curt nod and lets you through. The bar is pretty packed. It’s not very big, so it seems even more crowed as groups of people hover around the pool tables and high tops around the edges. There’s a small wooden stage near the front, and the light is off. There’s no one playing tonight, you guess.
“Hey! What do you want to drink? First round’s on Steve!” Robin shouts over the din of the other patrons.
“Rum and Coke?” You suggest. You don’t really drink much, so it was just the first drink that came to mind. Robin nods in acknowledgement and shouts your order to the waiting bartender. You look around, your hands fidgeting with the strap of your purse over your shoulder as the nerves set in just a touch. You make brief eye contact with anyone you can, trying to pass the time before Robin bumps your hip with hers, hands occupied with drinks. She hands you yours and you take a big gulp, grimacing at the taste. Okay, maybe you won’t order this one again.
“Steve saw an open table at the back, let’s go!” You nod and follow her through the crowd, taking special care not to bump anyone and spill your drink. Finally, you reach the four-seater table pushed almost completely to the back wall, and you climb into your seat, pushing your purse against the side that’s on the wall to the side.
“So, what do you think?” Steve asks expectantly, arms gesturing to the scene around you. You give a laugh and an incredulous shake of your head.
“It’s exactly what I expected, but also the complete opposite at the same time,” Steve shrugs.
“Yeah, it was for me, too,” He laughs. Just then, Steve’s eyes look over your head, and he stands and waves his arms above his head. “There’s Eddie,” He explains as he sits back down. You heart beats hard in your chest suddenly. Chill the fuck out, Y/N, it’s not a big deal, You think to yourself as you take another big drink from your cup.
A few minutes go by, and Eddie still hasn’t made his way to the table, you assume because he’s busy getting his drink, so you take a brief glance back and see him, drink in hand, a flirtatious smile on as he talks to a pretty girl standing over by one of the pool tables. She laughs at something he says, her blonde ponytail swinging. You can feel a heat fan over your cheeks as you turn back around, and you try to continue your conversation with Steve and Robin casually.
Come on, be serious. You don’t even know this guy. He’s just some cute dude that happens to know your friends. It’s not your business who he flirts with—
“Hey guys!” A shiver shoots up your spine as you feel the sudden warmth of a body right behind you. The unexpected closeness of Eddie as he comes to sit in the chair next to you makes you lose all the nerve you had spent all day building up. “Sorry, it took me so long. I just ran into Chrissy,”
“Don’t worry man, you’re good. You remember Y/N, right?” Steve gestures to you, and you give him a small smile, looking toward his face but directly at him, looking away quickly to take another drink.
“Of course, I do. I couldn’t forget a face like that. How’ve you been?” He asks, voice lilting sweetly. You nod exaggeratedly as you swallow, pulling the cup away and setting it down a little too harshly on the grey table, his casual flirtation nearly making you choke. It does nothing to calm your nerves.
“I’m good! You know, just... hanging out.” You can’t help the awkward overtone to your voice as you avoid eye contact. You glace over at Steve and he shoots you a “Buck up, buttercup!” look.
“Y/N’s on a soulmate journey!” Steve exclaims suddenly, practically forcing you to confront your fear of looking at Eddie. Your eyes widen to the size of saucers, immediately regretting telling him when you had that conversation the other day. You bow your head low to try to hide the raging heat spreading over your entire body.
“Oh, really? How’s that going? Where have you been so far?” Robin asks excitedly. “You know, I’ve actually been thinking about doing something like that, but I barely have any money to support myself, let alone to galivant across the country just to look at people,” She says. You lick your lips and nod, intent on keeping your eyes on Robin’s though you can feel Eddie looking toward you with interest.
“This is actually the first place I’ve been. I’m only gonna be here for six months, then I’ll move on to the next place,” You explain.
“Well, why Hawkins? This seems like a pretty nowhere place to start,” Eddie asks from beside you, and you shrug.
“I didn’t really pick it myself. I just threw a dart at a map. Well, several maps,” Your eyes flick up as you remember looking everywhere for a proper map of Indiana before finally settling on a small, printer paper sized one you found on the internet.
“Ahh,” You let your eyes wander over to Eddie’s hands, which lay on the table, decorated fingers wrapping loosely around his drink, which appears to just be whiskey on the rocks. “What color are you missing?” He asks casually. You freeze up, just for a second, your lips trying to catch up with the short circuit happening in your brain.
“B-brown... What about you?” You’re tempted to peek, but you want to wait for his answer. You don’t know which answer would make you feel more at ease, but you’re on the edge of your seat in the moment it takes him to answer, and you take another drink to help calm the quick thrum of your heart in your chest, feeling a bit disappointed as you drink down the last dregs.
“Oh, me? I’m missing Y/E/C.” He says. You can feel his eyes on you, and your quick glance to Steve and Robin give you encouragement, both of them practically begging you to look at him, and you take the leap.
You look up to Eddie’s face, letting your eyes meander up his face until your eyes settle on his. They’re a rich black color, and you’re so close to looking away, the dejection building in your core when it happens.
Your parents were right, the color really does swirl into place. You watch, mouth falling slightly open as the black transforms into this warm, dark color you can’t describe. How could you? It’s the first time you’ve ever seen it. Brown. This is brown. You let out a little laugh as more brown starts settling into the scene around you. The tables, the bar, the water stains on the plaster ceiling—all different shades of brown, and it’s immediately the prettiest color you’ve ever seen.
“Oh, my god.” You manage to mutter. It’s all so overwhelming you feel like you could cry, but Eddie’s gaze on you keeps you steady. His smile widens, pure joy glinting in those beautiful eyes.
“I had a feeling, but... I didn’t think it was possible,” Eddie breathes as he scans over every feature of your face. You scoff, thinking about all the time you’ve spent over the past few days thinking about him.
“Me too,” You laugh. You reach a tentative hand forward, and Eddie takes it midair, guiding it to his face. You feel your skin vibrate as you touch him, your thumb gently swiping over his cheek. Your reverie is interrupted by Steve and Robin, who start yelling across from you.
“WE’VE GOT SOULMATES OVER HERE!” The whole place erupts in applause, and you and Eddie giggle as the whole place starts chanting, “KISS! KISS! KISS! KISS!” There’s a hint of hesitation, but then a playful glint in his eyes as Eddie looks back to you.
“Would that be okay?” He asks, brows furrowing as he reads your reaction. You give a little nod, briefly pulling your bottom lip between your teeth.
“Might as well. Looks like we were made to,” You muse, batting your lashes flirtatiously. Eddie gives you a quick toothy smile before settling his hands on your face, and it’s like time moves to a standstill as your lips touch, gently at first, to test the waters, but then you slot your mouth onto his fully as the electricity streaks through your body. His lips move perfectly against yours, and everything around you becomes white noise as you throw your arms around his neck, pulling him closer.
As you part, you’re both grinning like love drunk idiots, giggling as your foreheads rest against each other. “A dart on a map, huh?” Eddie muses. You shrug, laughing again at the sheer insanity of it all.
“Yeah. A dart on a fucking map!” Eddie’s lashes barely brush yours, his warm, sweet breath fanning over your face.
“Thank God for that fucking dart, then.” His lips search for yours again, and you meet him in the middle with a smile that has your cheeks aching.
1 in 7 billion has never seemed better.

Bulletproof by justahappycloud / @justahappycloud (137k)
Harry's relationship with his boyfriend — sorry, fiancé — is quite literally in shambles. More often than not, days at their flat end in repressed tears, lonesome nights on the couch, or giving his back to the man he adores more than anything in the world. The lies that come with Harry's lifestyle are tearing them apart, but there's nothing he can do about it. He can't exactly tell the love of his life that every time he goes to work, he kills under the orders of the most powerful man in England. But when the opportunity to end his torment appears, Harry ignores the danger and takes a huge risk in what has to be his most difficult mission up to date. One trip to America. That's all he needs. And after that, maybe he'll get to keep the only person that showed him light in a world where he saw none.

My baby,” Louis whispered into Harry’s neck, closing his eyes tightly into the embrace. Harry squeezed him closer and Louis could feel him nodding into his throat before he kissed him gently behind the ear.
“I love you,” Harry mumbled into his shoulder.
He tried to move closer, but they were already pressed together from cheek to where their ankles were tangled precariously together. “Me too, me too.”
“I’ve missed you so much,” he whispered, just for Louis’ ears. They swayed slightly, like a delicate dance to the distilled noise around them.
“Oh, darling. Sunshine.”

“You think Harry wants that?”
“Dunno. Maybe. Wanna make him happy.” Harry takes advantage of the red light he’s pulled up to turn and look properly at Louis’ face. He’s not even looking in Harry’s direction though, focused instead on something out of his side window, head drooped, mindlessly playing with the string of his hoodie between his fingers, lost in his own world somewhere. For some reason, it makes Harry’s spine straighten.
“Because he’s your best mate?” Harry questions carefully.
“He’s my boyfriend.”
He couldn’t have heard him right. “What?”
Louis releases a deep breath, still not turning around. Harry wonders who he thinks he’s talking to right now. “He’s so pretty. Want to kiss him all day long. And buy him a big house and give him presents and marry him.”

“You're just so intricate and beautiful. I want to know every part of you. I guess I can't help it.” The blush that warms Harry’s cheeks is more beautiful than any part of himself, Louis wants to argue. He knows Harry wouldn’t let him win, though, so the rebuttal fades from between his lips.
“Well it's a good thing that I think you are just as worthy of being explored, then.”

我的阿勒泰 To The Wonder : An Analyzation of Humanity (Part 1)
哈薩克文化裡,人與人之間產生友情或者愛情,是由於被看見,所以在哈薩克語中,我喜歡你意思是我清楚地看見你。
In Kazakhstan culture, in order for individuals to develop a friendship or a relationship, they need to be seen, that is why, "i like you" means "i can see you clearly" in Kazakh.
"To The Wonder" is a Chinese show that tells the story of Li Wenxiu, a Han girl from Altay, whose dream is to become a writer in Beijing, thinking that with it's rich culture, she would be able to write good stories. She returns home after a failed job, decided to settle down and work at her mother's store, along the way, she met Kazakh boy Batay, and built friendships with other residents, as well as discovering the beauty of Altay.
As a fellow Chinese, I would like to take the opportunity to make not only an appreciation about this wonderful show that got an impressive score of 8.1/10 on IMDB, but specifically an analyzation of humanity as reflected by the characters (Zhang Fengxia, Gao Xiaoliang, Li Wenxiu, and Tuoken)
As the mother of Li Wenxiu, losing her husband is one of the only things that Zhang Fengxia truly cannot let go of. Numbing herself with alcohol every night, reminiscing the memories between her and her late husband, but whenever her daughter asks about it, she avoids the topic and claims that she does not miss her late husband. In reality, deep in her heart, she not only deeply misses him, but she longs for love, a deep connection with someone.
When Gao Xiaoliang came along one day, she was blinded by her longing, diving headfirst into a relationship with him, claiming that he was sent by her late husband. There is no wrong in that, as humans, we all have an innate longing and want for love. However, when she realized everything that Gao Xiaoliang did was only an act, she allowed herself to grief what they had, what she thought they had, and sat with her emotions, quickly picking herself up after and moving forward with life.
In my opinion, that was truly the most touching yet heartbreaking moment in the show. Unfolding the complexity of the human heart, as well as demonstrating the strong will that humans are capable of - to live, to move on, to move forward with life despite the amount of times our hearts have been trampled all over.
一個男人跑了就跑了嘛!我們離了婚也不丢人的,男人没了,再找一個嘛
Most audiences think Gao Xiaoliang is a bad person, lying to Zhang Fengxia about his true intentions, earning her trust and leaving her behind, and lying to Li Wenxiu when they were working together in Urumqi. But that's the thing about humanity, there is never an exact definition of what's good or bad. Just because someone did something doesn't make them a bad person. In order to understand him truly, we need to look at the character from their perspective.
Being robbed when he first got to Xinjiang, losing everything he's worked for and truly losing directions in life; decided to hold on to Zhang Fengxia as his last resort, but seizing the opportunity of earning money because that's his priority in life - to earn money.
Blinded by his want for an adequate life, for money, he lied to Zhang Fengxia and left her behind, he negotiated with his boss to get Li Wenxiu's severance pay, but only giving her the 1/3 that he actually received. Yes, he may seem like the villain to the protagonists, but that would be an unfair statement to his character as a whole. Did he want to settle down with Zhang Fengxia? Yes. Did he give Li Wenxiu some of the pay when he could've kept all of it to himself? Yes.
But at the end of the day, as humans, we all get blinded by certain things, we all have our own wants and may do anything in our power to "seize the moment". Actions that we commit don't define us, who we are, because we have to understand that humans are complex and there is no "black-and-white" to us. All these actions only added to the depth of the character and our sympathy for what he went through, and how he got to the point where he was mad.
我出人頭地了,你出人頭地了嗎?

🧚🏼♀️⭐️Life Events🫧💭
🪐Saturn works like this-when you are ready to learn, the teacher appears and showed you ways how you can do something, what you can learn from it. But when you are truly ready, then the teacher disappears.
🌊8th house shows how we go through someone's death and how we experience it. How we feel about it. The 8th house shows how a part of us dies when a person who was close to our heart dies. Gemini in 8th house means that someone's death will always be personal for us. The person will always say goodbye with the last words. Because gemini rules over mercury. Scorpio in 8th house means that it will be very difficult for you to get over the person, but the person's death will completely transform you. Aquarius in 8th house can mean that a person dies suddenly and you find out about it only later( the next day or something). Also people with saturn in 8th house can mean that you are far away when someone dies. And that people's deaths can be public or shared with the public. Saturn in the 8th house can be a difficult position because you can blame yourself when someone dies. Or you feel that you could do more for the person or be with them more.
💜I really appreciate how private Scorpios are. They really understand the importance of privacy. Especially someone who has mars and scorpio will never share private things on social networks or with others. They like to process things themselves. They never make drama around the relationship. I often see that they don't like to share their relationship with others.
🪴The signs that are the most dramatic in my opinion are leo and gemini. Geminis love rumors and therefore they also like to talk about everything that happened to them. Leos like to be dramatic about themselves and then like to share the drama with others. I honestly think that these two signs don't know how to keep things to themselves when anything is going on.
🫧Men with libra placements have a taste for style. I really like this because they will really always want to be beautiful for you and they put a lot into beauty. Whatever other signs/ placements they may have, libra will always make them want to be beautiful. They will appreciate the beauty in you. Not just the body or sexual stuff. But the face and that real beauty that you have.
🦋Libra moon many times I see that these people are very friendly and always make people comfortable around them. They emit friendly energy, regardless of other signs, they will always look out for other people. And they put a lot on relationships, it is very important to them how they get along with people and how others feel emotionally. With them, you always know that they will put relationship first.
🌅Where Jupiter lies in your chart, you may experience some significant losses. Losses which, in retrospect, benefit you. For ex.: Someone with Jupiter in Sagittarius misses a flight to Spain and then this plane was diverted somewhere else due to problems. Jupiter in 1st house- You want to go get a tattoo, but then the tattoo artist cancels on you and in the end you find out that he is not that good at his job. Jupiter in 11th house- you lose a friend because he was not honest with you and betrayed you and later you meet someone who teaches you what true friendship is. Jupiter sextile Saturn- you lose the opportunity to enroll in a new college but later you find something that really makes you happy.
🌠Mars in Scorpio-I have noticed many times that these people are controlling. They want things to go their way. But they are very persistent when they really want something and will do anything for a person. I like that they don't give up on the relationship easily and that they take a serious approach to the relationship. Well, their focus will not be diverted elsewhere when they broke up with the person, but they will use their time to heal. I think they can have energy for just one person and that person can be present in their life for a long time. They take a long time to release something.
🎡Placements in 9th house can mean that you will meet a person on a trip or that you will be together with someone from another culture/country. Maybe even a famous person because this house also represents a part of fame (being known all over the world).
⛵️9th house is also good house for synastry because you can experience a lot with this person. You can, for example, go on a plane for the first time, go abroad or experience something you might not have done before (a kiss in the rain, a picnic on the beach...). It's a very open house and you can learn a lot from the person as well. And it is also a house of marriage.
🏞️People with a Gemini placements many times they are looking for someone who can teach them something. They really like people who are intelligent, smart and like to communicate. And they value many times the thinking of others and are attracted to the thinking of someone. You have to actually be interesting to them, to always surprise them with your actions and words. I also noticed that they like challenges or word games.
🎤11th house shows your contact with social networks and famous people. A lot of planets in this house can mean that celebrities notice you sooner. So for ex.: Venus in 11th house- can mean that you can attract someone who is famous or a popular artist. It can mean that you can also have a romantic relationship with him. Or they quickly notice you because of your beauty, charming energy. Pluto in 11th house- It can mean that you have a deeper connection with someone who is famous or that you can often attract people who are mysterious. This can also mean that you are attracted to artists who are no longer around. In society, you can often have a seductive and sexual energy.
⭐️ I will do part 2 -comment if you are interested⭐️

Day 28: pumpkin patch
Masterlist flufftober 🎀
Reblog if you liked it!
“Remember that to choose the ideal pumpkin we have to check that it doesn’t have bruises or soft parts and is decomposing, this will make the carving much easier and the final product will last longer”
“Don't worry, pretty, I'll be sure to check with you first,” you murmured, trying not to sound too amused at your boyfriend's excitement.
Autumn had already fallen and with it the pumpkin harvests also appeared, whether to prepare pie, soup, or carve a beautiful design to decorate. Your boyfriend had insisted that you accompany him to one of the first activities in a long schedule of Halloween preparations, and since your porch had enough space to put up decorations, you would take an afternoon to carve some pumpkins.
You were holding his hand when you walked towards the entrance of the pumpkin patch, where there were already some people and families choosing the best specimens on the piles of straw or placed in huge wooden boxes. The field was huge so the two of you would be busy enough walking around it for a while; not that you were complaining though, you loved spending time with him.
"Are you cold?" he asked, once you stopped at the first pile of pumpkins, while he adjusted the scarf you were wearing. Although the day was sunny you had to admit that the air was cool and you were grateful to him for insisting you wear something warm.
Spencer, for his part, had decided to wear brown pants, boots, and a blue plaid shirt that was very messy; open collar, untucked, and with the sleeve folded three-quarters over his muscular arms. However, that wasn't what had you enthralled, but the black-rimmed glasses on his face. The doctor had recommended using them again for a few weeks so that his eyes could rest, and of course you hadn't made a single complaint about that.
“No, everything is perfect,” you smiled, stretching out so you could press a kiss to his cheek and watching him form a smile of your own “These pumpkins here are cute, do you want to see them?”
Your boyfriend was an expert in many things and choosing those kinds of vegetables seemed to be another one to add to the list. There were various colors, some paler than others, some in shades of green, and others completely bright orange; small, large, elongated, all with curious and varied shapes.
You kept walking next to him, exchanging a few words from time to time, while he felt the specimens in front of you. At some point you got distracted by something else and when you looked back you found him in a position that made you sigh. His body was facing you, but his head was focused on something else, as if he were debating with himself whether to carry a third pumpkin, allowing you a view of the length of his neck and the profile of his face. There were soft rays of sunlight bathing his hair and skin, giving it a golden glow that contrasted with the coldness of the time, and you simply couldn't miss the opportunity to capture the moment.
Spencer turned at the sound of your phone's camera and smiled shyly when he realized you had just taken a photo of him.
"What are you doing?"
“You looked very handsome,” you laughed, proudly showing him the image on your cell phone screen.
"You think?"
“Of course, you are my ray of sunshine,” you called him affectionately, stretching out a hand to caress his face that had already completely blushed.
“Do you like these? I thought we could make soup with them.”
“They look good”
“Do you want me to pick one for you to carve?” he asked excitedly, nodding toward the pile of small, round pumpkins.
In no time Spencer's hands were full and then, laughing, you suggested looking for a wheelbarrow to make your job easier.
“Will this do?”
“I think so,” your boyfriend smiled at you, carefully placing the pumpkins that you had already chosen and then approaching to take you by the waist even more carefully. “What if you give me a kiss?”
“Hmm, I guess I don't feel like it,” you lied, wrinkling your nose and shrugging your shoulders slightly.
"And what is that for? If I can know”
“I don't know, I just don't want to.”
Normally Spencer would insist until you laughed and ended up kissing him or he would just try to get it without asking you, but right now he just opened his eyes wide, feigning understanding, and then walked away from you.
“Well, we have to continue then”
"Wait…"
“No, if you don't want to, I'm not going to force you.”
“Spencer!” you complained, grabbing his arm in a struggle to get his attention while he tried to hide a smile.
He resisted a little, but when you finally had the opportunity, you didn't even hesitate to capture his lips with a playful kiss to which he responded with pleasure.
"Happy?"
“A little,” he replied with some disdain, but from the mischievous glint in his eyes, you knew he was just pretending. Just to be sure you gave him another one and that one managed to make him smile.
“Will you take me in the wheelbarrow?” you asked with a smile, and he just couldn't refuse.
You opened a space between the pumpkins so you could sit down and when you were ready your boyfriend raised the tool so that you could start moving toward the dirt road. A couple of people looked at you disapprovingly, but there were a few others who smiled at you, most of them children or couples in love like you.
Spencer made a few stops to choose from and asked your opinion, but for most of the ride you remained your boyfriend's princess passenger.
“I think this is enough, what do you say?” he asked, after almost an hour, when you already had a considerable amount of pumpkins and you were practically buried under them.
“Yes, let me get up to…”
“Wait,” he interrupted you, gently placing a hand on your stomach to keep you in place. You were going to ask something until you saw him take his cell phone out of the back pocket of his pants, imagining what he was about to do “You already have one of mine, so it's only fair that I have one of yours, right?”
"Yes, it's fair"
“Show me a smile, my girl,” he requested and you obliged his whim, hearing the camera click a few times. You couldn't know it, but he was so pleased with the photo that he would later ask Garcia how to use it as wallpaper “That's it. You can come here now”
Spencer helped you up from your uncomfortable but fun spot and you were finally aware of the amount you had chosen, a little impressed with yourselves.
“My porch will be the most decorated in the entire neighborhood.”
“And I was thinking that on the way back we can go to Target and buy some things, so it looks even prettier”
“What happened to that consumerism kills the planet and is a form of imposition and control by the bourgeoisie?”
Your boyfriend blushed at the way you were using his own words against him and opened his mouth without saying anything for a second, as if he was thinking through his answer.
“Can we make an exception just to have a happy time?” he tried and you nodded with a wide smile.
You would literally do anything just to see that man happy.

It's Nice To Have A Friend
Chapter 4: You Weren't Mine To Lose
Summary: Fate is cruel on how it goes about obtaining its desires. It must be fate, because there is no other explanation for how perfectly molded Y/N and Helaena are to one another. They complement one another like opposite sides of a coin. Where Helaena is shy, Y/N is outgoing. Helaena has a photographic memory. Y/N has emotional inteligence. They have the right temperament to be the missing piece in one another’s lives. Ying and Yang. Then there are the boys. Love them or hate them, they’re there. Even the adults cannot escape the Targaryen chaos, and the fallout doesn’t spare the minors simply because they’re adolescents. Follow how Y/N and those around her carve out lives for themselves amongst the weight of the Targaryen legacy in a modern Westeros.
Word Count: 6.2k
Pairings: Aegon x Y/N, Aemond xY/N, hints of Jace x Y/N, Platonic! Helaena x Y/N, Father Figure! Harwin x Y/N, Mother Figure! Rhaneyra x Y/N, Mother Figure! Alicent x Y/N
Warnings: 18+ you’ve been warned
Lots of profanity, sexual innuendos, drug and alcohol use, boys being stupid jerks, infidelity, divorce, eventual smut
A/N 1: Chapters drop on Thursdays. Please, please, please, please share your thoughts. I wanna hear them. I don't bite, promise! Also, I lied about this chapter being signifigantly shorter. I reodered some parts for the story to flow better. Oops, sorry! This is for my Aemond girlies. My Aegon girlies, you'll have your turn soon.
Sereies Masterlist
Aegon pulled Y/N along by her mitten covered hand. It was winter, a harsh one. They were walking down a secluded trail, as the sun set, and old browning snow blanketed the ground. It was scenic. It was freezing.
“I swear to the gods, Aegon Targaryan, if you dragged me out here for some dumb prank or to try and make a pass at me then I’m going to-” She could see her breath as she huffed at him.
“Do what?” He was giddily mischievous today. Her annoyance only fueled his fun. She’d quit her whining once he revealed their reason for being out in the cold. Until then, he enjoyed her frustration.
“I’ll post that video of your Risky Business impersonation on my throwback Thursday.” It was a smug, looming threat- one she only brought out when she couldn’t think of anything he’d done recently. It was a video of him at thirteen practicing for a costume party. He thought the outfit made him appear cool and mature. That was, until he slid a little too far, lost his footing, and face planted. Y/N was recording for him to review his performance. She saved the video to five different locations before he could fight her for her phone.
Aegon shot her a dirty glare. “You wouldn’t dare.”
“Try me.” She tilted her head in that annoying, dareful way that made his skin itch.
“Fine.” He dropped her hand. He continued walking, but backwards so he could face her. “No high for you.” He turned and sped up his pace which forced her into a light jog to follow.
“High?” She questioned. Smoking Ashai root, or Shairo as it was called, was something Y/N brought up to Aegon months ago. As a freshman in high school, she felt mature and wanted to partake in the fun, just like how she now attended the parties. Of course Aegon of all people had a connection. She smelled the bottles of body spray he used to cover the scent.
“Yup.” He popped the word to accentuate his nonchalant persona. “Snitches don’t get prizes.”
“It’s technically not snitching.” Y/N mumbled under her breath. She’d caught up to Aegon by this point and tugged on his arm. “Why do we have to go out this far though? Why couldn’t we have just gone in the backyard.”
“And give Aemond the opportunity to snitch, huh!” He shook his head at her naivety.
“Ugh, fine, but isn’t this far enough?” “Gotta get to the clearing.”
“The clearing?” “You’re a green little girl. What if you crash out after your first hit? Gotta place you somewhere stationary.”
“Fuck you!”
“If that’s how you’d like to repay this kind gesture, I won’t complain.”
They’d stopped at a rather decrepitated set of tree stumps. It was one of the smaller clearings. In a fit of dramatics, Y/N crossed her arms and took a seat like he so rudely suggested.
“Good girl.” This made Y/N roll her eyes. She watched as Aegon took out a long, skinny roll, of what looked like wax paper from his pocket. He held it between his lips as he sparked the lighter, cupping it to secure the flame from the wind. Y/N watched intently. She wanted to know what to do so she wouldn’t look inexperienced when asked at a party. There was something about the way Aegon’s brows knit or his low grumble in annoyance. Y/N’s lips curved into a lazy crescent smile. He was almost endearing. Aegon’s eyes flicked from their half lidded concentration and landed on her. The roll was lit and he was emitting puffs of smoke.
“Have I ever told you how hot you look when you’re speechless, looking up at me with those dopey eyes.” And the moment was gone. Aegon was in a fit of giggles, dodging Y/N’s ire. He waved the roll above her head until she calmed down. Then he handed it over, showing what part to hold to her lips, and directed her to sit.
Y/N inhaled in as he instructed. The smoke burned her throat and lungs as she suckled on the roll. She coughed in little spouts as she tried to hold it down. Smoke poured out her nose by the end.
“Well, you’re definitely part Valyrian.” Aegon settled. “You didn’t choke nearly as bad as I’ve seen and the smoke pouring out your nose made you look like a dragon.”
“I get the purpose.” Y/N was struggling with her release of the second inhale. “But how do you enjoy this part?”
Aegon shrugged. “You just get used to it I guess. It becomes familiar and then kinda comforting.” He took the shairo from her so he could partake as well.
“And then we do what?”
“Relax, enjoy, hangout…”
“In the middle of the woods, when it’s freezing?”
“I’ll admit, it isn’t the most ideal place this time of year, but where would we go? I don’t have a car yet.”
“What about those gummy things I’ve seen people take?”
“Nah, you’re going about it the old school way like the best of us. I would be a poor bad influence if I didn’t give you the full experience.”
Y/N rolled her eyes. That was Aegon’s new thing. Yeah, he was popular in his class. How could he not be? He had all the right clothes, and socials, and the Targaryen status. It was just for his class though. To appear cooler to anyone older and to attract admiration from those younger, Aegon adopted the bad boy moniker. It wasn’t successful with Y/N. She’d seen him cry over animals in movies. He couldn’t appear aloof after that.
“So we just hang out.” She accepted.
“You’re stuck with me.” He mulled it over. “Till we get hungry. Then we rejoin society to raid a fridge.”
Y/N nodded. “Uh, my place. ‘Cause I don’t fancy Alicent’s bird food.”
“Ditto.” Aegon quickly replied.
After that, getting high became their thing. Before that, it was passively scrolling on their phones, but Y/N did that with Helaena as well. No, for the first time Aegon had something only he could do with Y/N. He’d often save up allowance and lunch money for these purchases. His excuse to have her all to himself. He wasn’t sure why he did it. Half the time he didn’t realize he was doing it.
The weather was warmer now and swimming in the lake was a possibility. Y/N was with Helaena for the weekend, but Helaena was indisposed for the moment. One of her insects, or maybe it was an arachnid, was acting strangely. Y/N couldn’t tell the difference, but she’d mumble agreements every now and then to Helena. Really, she was left to lay idle until her friend was done.
Aegon knocked on the doorframe of Helaena’s room. Helaena glanced at the disturbance but did not acknowledge him. Y/N, however, silently addressed him. Aegon held two fingers up to his lips, their signal. Y/N nodded and hopped off Helena’s bed. She began putting on her sneakers in preparation for the walk ahead.
“I’m gonna go on a quick walk while you finish up.” Y/N spoke to her best friend who waved her off. She figured Helaena had to know what they were going to do, but she really didn’t care so long as it didn’t interfere with her plans.
The pair walked down the stairs as warily relaxed as they could be. They still had that teenage anxiety of being busted by a parent. Much like a drunk person trying to prove they aren’t intoxicated, they were a bit off.
They made it out the door, but not down the driveway. Alicent and Aemond had arrived home from tourney practice. Y/N and Aegon exchanged a look- proceed with caution. Alicent paid little mind to the two cagey teenagers seemingly going on walk. Nothing a teenager should care about was nearby. Yes the lake, but a lake day without proper accouterments wasn’t something society born Alicent could comprehend. Aemond though, he knew better.
He wasn’t oblivious. The thick, weighted smell was easily remembered. No matter the amount of perfume or cologne sprayed, the oder remained pungent. Yes, they could slip past the adults to change, but they almost always encountered Aemond. He didn’t hate the idea of getting high. He wasn’t a prude. It was the intentional exclusion from Aegon and Y/N’s compliance that drew his contempt. He was too young, wouldn’t understand, couldn’t handle it. Well, he was as mature as the rest of them. In some ways, more than Aegon. So it rubbed the wrong nerve. Aegon had something with Y/N that he couldn’t, whether he actively knew it or not. Of course Aemond would never snitch on Y/N. Aegon alone, absolutely. So rather than alerting his mother, he played her to his advantage in a subtler way.
“Mother, since tonight is the live premiere, can we order pizza for supper? I’m sure Heleana and Y/N would appreciate it as well as I.” Aemond’s tone had become rather haughty lately. He always had an advanced grasp on his language skills, but the older he became his readings increased in intensity. Often, it reflected in his superior attitude.
He caught Y/N’s attention with the use of her name. Yes, she’d come over to watch a new Valaryian documentary with Helena and Aemond, but the release was scheduled for tomorrow.
Y/N and Aegon exchanged their confusion. “I thought that was tomorrow night.”
“Oh it is,” Aemond quickly elaborated. “However, the exclusive live exploration of the archeological site is tonight. Father agreed to purchase the viewing rights.”
Smug, that’s how Aegon would describe his brother’s countenance in perceived triumph. Aegon’s eyes narrowed, making it clear that he knew what his brother was up to. Aemond held his own, showing he knew his brother knew and didn’t care.
Before more words were exchanged, Alicent sighed her approval without looking up from her phone. The entire practice she’d sat on the sidelines scrolling reviews for exercise classes and personal trainers. “Whatever you like dear, but I expect you all to eat a healthy bit of salad along with it.”
“Of course, mother.” Aemond held a delightful innocent grin as his mother passed by to enter the house. Once she slipped inside, the facade dropped. Ignoring his brother’s seething, he addressed Y/N directly. “I’ll make myself presentable and then we can set up.”
“You go make yourself presentable, pretty boy.” Aegon didn’t hide the condensation he felt from his tone. “You can primp all you like while we walk, then you can watch whatever you like.”
Aegon went to take Y/N’s hand and pull her along. The stand off looked rather familiar. Similar to the battles they had as little children over a favored dragon stuffie. This time, Y/N was the toy being tugged from both ends. Much like the stuffend dragon, she felt little say in the battle of wills.
“Oh, but it starts in thirty minutes. Will your walk be that quick?”
“Record it.”
Aemond scoffed. “What’s the point of a live premier if you wait to watch the recording.”
Aegon pulled his free hand down his face in annoyance. “Forty-five minutes of delay and it’ll still be as insufferable as it was forty-five minutes before.”
“Then you miss out on the opportunity to submit inquiries in real time.”
“Oh no, whatever will you do if you can’t be one of thousands to submit the same stupid question about the same stupid rock?”
“It would be nice to participate.” Y/N slowly reclaimed her hand. Lately, she’d become inconsistent with the brothers. One moment she asserted her wants and left it up to them to follow. Another, she was demure and allowed them to go through their tense exchange. Maybe it depended on her reluctance to referee. Maybe she was caught between wanting to satisfy them both. Maybe it was something else.
“We can walk after.” Y/N offered as she gravitated towards Aemond.
Though it was reasonable, Aegon couldn’t allow his brother to be the top choice. “It’s now or never. I’ve got to meet up with Tarbeck and Redwyne later.” It was a lie, he had no plans, but if Y/N wouldn’t comply then he could always summon them and lick his wounds while shit-talking his family.
Aemond now acquired Y/N’s hand. Again, she was the toy being tugged. This time, Aemond was winning the competition by slowly escorting his prize up the front steps. “We’ll walk another time then.”
Y/N gave that apologetic grimace of sympathy that Aegon hated to be on the receiving end of. When he was the one it was directed at, it meant he’d lost. He hated losing, especially to his pompous prick of a brother. He gritted his teeth and groaned through them. He shoved his closed fists into his pockets and refrained from kicking at the grass. He didn’t want Aemonf to have the satisfaction of his temper. “Fine, fine, nerd out with the geeks. When you wanna have fun, maybe I’ll be around.”
Aegon’s angered surrender was enough satisfaction for Aemond. He and Y/N were in the house, so close to the finish line, Aemond allowed the glee to fill his stomach with butterflies. The celebration came too soon.
“Wait,” Aegon slyly feigned his acceptance. “Before I go, let me grab Helaena for you.” Both knew Helaena usually fed her pets around this time. That girl never broke her routines if she could help it.
Aemond hadn’t anticipated his brother having enough composure in his frustration to sabotage his plans. Underestimating Aegon would be his downfall. Helaena was feeding her pets which would take longer than Aemond needed. He also never told Helaena about the live premier, so she’d probably go straight into her drawing until dinner time. That would’ve left him and Y/N alone for over an hour. Aemond couldn’t help the strangled hum he let out. If he stopped Aegon, then it would raise questions he’d rather not answer. The arrogant little scholar couldn’t think of an escape from his own web.
“I’ll feed her little creepy crawlies since asking questions seems so important.” Aegon’s grin was a little too grandiose to avoid Y/N noticing something was up. Though she’d let it slide if nothing else came of it. Aemond recluded into his default lack of expression, signaling on the inside, all he wanted was murder.
“How generous of you, brother.” Aemond swiftly turned on his heel, retreating in the direction of his room. Gratified with his actions, Aegon added a bounce to his step on his way to retrieve Helaena. The lack of escalation allowed Y/N to convince herself it was all nothing.
…
The last party of the summer was as big of a blowout as the first. Maybe more so, because it was the final time a batch of overly privileged teens, who thought themselves invincible, let loose before parting for separate colleges. Y/N’s celebration into adulthood was no different. Helaena attended, though she spent more of her time enjoying the fire than the drinking or drugs. Or maybe she took the drugs and that’s why she enjoyed the fire so much. Aegon was off impressing soon to be freshman college girls with his seasoned university knowledge. Or whatever made it easier to get laid.
Aemond was the only challenge. Yes, he’d gone to parties countless times before. He even drank enough to be enjoyable during the first party of the summer. Somehow, at some point, his attitude towards their parties soured. He was grumpy and giving Y/N a hard time. She’d gotten him out of the house at least.
“If I need to be inebriated to enjoy their company, then I shouldn’t be expected to suffer their presence at all.” Aemond argued, but loyalty followed Y/N as they walked.
“You say that, but maybe it’s you who needs the alcohol to behave.” She quipped back, but he stopped and gave her a look that would intimidate many others. Not her. “Come on, Aemond, please? It’s the last time we can party together before I leave for school.”
Aemond crossed his arms and haughtily smirked. “You’ll be back.”
Y/N groaned. “Please, I’ll owe you a favor for your last party.”
Appearing reluctant, Aemond accepted her terms. Gaining his obedience always pleased Y/N. They made their way down the trail to the designated party spot. Everything was up and running. Hard liquor flowed from stolen and or purchased bottles. Many were over eighteen now; the legal age in Westeros. Someone even managed to drag a keg out.
Y/N made a drink for herself and Aemond. For a while, they managed to stay together. Everything was just right for Aemond. Aegon was out of sight, out of mind. Jace found himself a Haroway or Hillden to entertain himself. Helaena was somewhat occupied. He had Y/N all to himself. She never contemplated how his arm draped over her shoulder or when he tugged on her waist. It was just Aemond, the boy who used to drag her by her hand to show whatever new book or poster he bought. Aemond, the boy who often fell asleep on her shoulder during long car rides. Aemond, her best friend's little brother. His touch meant little to her, but her touch meant everything to him.
Eventually, she slipped out of his grasp. She’d gone to refill her drink and stayed away; not intentionally. Aemond didn’t notice at first. He wasn’t irritated when he did. He had others he didn’t loathe talking to, but after a while he found himself longing to be near her again.
Y/N was a social butterfly. Like Aegon, she was at ease conversing with her targets. She’d gone group to group and addressed those she wanted to, but landed on Alana Rogar and Lance Tyrell. Both looked so tasty, she could eat them then and there for all to watch. She hadn’t a preference for either. If so lucky, she’d take both. Her flirting wasn’t subtle, but neither was theirs. When Alana leaned in and melted her mouth to Y/N’s, she felt like a lightning struck wildfire. Alana parted and did the same with Lance. Finally, Y/N and Lance greedily devoured each other. They only hummed in agreement when Alana announced she’d bring her off road dragonback to pick them up. Then they could have some real fun.
Y/N and Lance had no shame. Each groped at the other over and under clothing. Both had a need they wanted filled, and both were more than willing to help the other. Hands under shirts, red patches forming on collar bones, and the two walked in tandem towards the trail where Alana would pick them up. Lance pushed Y/N up against a tree. She preened at his roughness and returned the favor by grinding herself against his tented pants. Just as she was losing herself in the satisfying rock of their hips, she lost the feeling.
Lance stumbled steps back. Y/N opened her eyes to see Aemond be the force that pulled him. Somehow the angles of his face were sharper, casting deeper shadows, and appearing menacing.
“What the fuck man?” Lance tossed Aemond’s commanding hand off his shoulder. Aemond retaliated by pushing Lance further and standing between him and Y/N like a platinum haired wall.
“Think you're some caveman tough guy here to snatch up the girl.” Lance’s fists balled as he dared to be face to face with Aemond. The adrenaline from the carnal encounter was shifting to something lethally primal.
Aemond laughed maniacally for being disturbingly restrained. It further enraged Lance. “No, but I know a perverted bastard when I see one.”
Lance took a swing on Aemond. They were practically blended into the trees. Y/N couldn’t expect back up when separating the two. Aemond dodged and threw his own punch. Less intoxicated and more grounded, Aemond’s swing was faster, harder, and it connected. Lance didn’t stand a chance. He fell backwards onto his ass and rolled further back from the momentum of the fall. Aemond was very pleased with himself.
Y/N snapped out of her shock and went to help Lance up, to Aemond’s disapproval. She tried reassuring Lance by suggesting they just walk away, but he wasn’t interested anymore.
“No, this shit isn’t worth it.” He shrugged Y/N off. “Alana’s getting her four wheeler and I don’t have to joust some douche for her pleasure.” Y/N protested, but Lance stormed off to hide his wounded pride.
Y/N watched him leave. Enraged tears welled in her eyes. Like an electric current, the fury pulsed through her body, and in a quick pivot she slammed Aemond’s chest. It was his turn to be sent stumbling.
“What the fuck is wrong with you.” Y/N roared. Aemond allowed her to push him again. “What in the seven hells is wrong with you!” She punctuated each of her last words with a shove.
Aemond caught her fists the final time and ended her physical tirade. “Lance Tyrell is a dickhead and you would have regretted going off with him.”
“Who gave you the right to make that call?” Y/N struggled against him.
“Don’t be stupid, you know I’m right.” Aemond faintly sneered and refused to let go.
Y/N roared. “Aemond.”
“I’m right!” He snapped, matching her volume and intensity. “You shouldn’t be entertaining guys like that.”
Y/N slipped her hands free by tugging downwards in one sharp motion. Her strength surprised Aemond. Her tone lessened in rage but grew in disgust. “That’s not for you to decide.”
Aemond grumbled under his breath. He refused to acknowledge that he indeed had no right to make that decision on her behalf. He wasn’t her father, brother, or boyfriend. Unfortunately, all he was, was Helaena’s younger brother.
Y/N was unsatisfied with his silence. “Why did you do that?” She was exasperated but refused his answer before he could give it. “No piss ass excuse. Why, Aemond?”
Aemond was pushed to his edge. First she dragged him here when he didn’t want to come to begin with, then she abandoned him, finally he finds her dry humping that ass wipe Lance Tyrell. It was more than Aemond could take. He was boiling over and she was at the fuel of his madness.
“I thought you were better than slutting yourself out to any guy who gave you a moment’s attention.” He sneered. “My mistake.” “Fuck. You.” Y/N slapped him. Aemond didn’t reject the hit. It reverberated in the night air. She was going to leave him, but her thoughts were too sharp not to let cut. “You give me your attention and yet I find sleeping with you repulsive. Must not be that much of a slut after all.”
She did her best to keep her head held high and suppress her tears. She didn’t want anyone at the party to make a fuss and ruin their fun. Aemond in turn let his frustrations out by screaming and kicking the dirt.
“You’re going to regret that.” Was all he could sputter out. Or maybe that was all she heard.
…
Time didn’t heal the wound. Yule was… icy. When Y/N and Aemond were forced in close proximity, a chill settled over the space. Eyes shot daggers made of icicles. Everyone noticed the obvious animosity between the two. Few addressed it.
Aegon, Jace, and Luke found humor in it when they could. Always away from Y/N. If she caught their remarks, she’d roast them alive over the Yule log. However, it was open season on Aemond. Sure he’d retaliate, but he’d never let it get out of hand and peak the curiosity of the elder adults. He wanted to continue the facade of the rift being a simple teenage squabble.
Aegon initiated the teasing. He was privy to the depth of the feud. Jace and Luke, sensing an opportunity to taunt the prick, joined in. Y/N would normally disperse the teasing before it got out of hand, but there was a void where Aemond’s best ally used to stand.
Aegon would ask, “Aemond, have you seen Y/N today?” Aemond would stiffen his posture and attempt a withering glare.
His response was always something like “No I haven’t,” or “You know I haven’t.”
Like sharks, Jace and Luke sensed the blood in the water. Aemond was uneasy about Y/N? Keep her around as often as possible. Invite her to partake in things Aemond enjoys. You’re going horseback riding? Let’s round everyone up and ride together.
Little jabs like, “You know who’s good at this? Lance Tyrell.”
“The Tyrell estate has great Yule lights. We should go check them out.”
“Guess who I saw today?”
Another favorite was, “You’ll regret that.” Though it was said in a jovial tone.
All hell broke loose, and the Targaryen estate turned into Thunderdome every time Aemond found a How to Talk to Girls pamphlet amongst his things. The hit list included: under his pillow, on top of his bed, inside the books he was reading, his car, and Vagar’s terrarium. Whichever boy was nearest received his tirade. The adults shrugged it off as boys pulling childish pranks.
…
Come summer break, Y/N, Helaena, and Aegon were due to return from university. Their college set up resided in storage units as their living arrangements differed in the fall. Out of brotherly love and duty- or Alicent’s behest, Aemond volunteered to help Helaena sort her belongings. He assumed Y/N wouldn’t turn down the free help, but gods she was as stubborn as him. Maybe she was prettier than stubborn. She had several well built members of the jousting league assist in moving her boxes. She made a display out of her sugar sweet compliments and feather light touches of gratitude. Aemond wanted to take a flamethrower and torch the world.
He tried to talk to her. She came back to the dorm for one final walk through and Aemond followed her out to her car. There wasn’t anyone or anything to buffer their interaction.
“You can’t stay mad at me forever.” Aemond hollered in her direction. He’d followed her out, but his footsteps hadn’t captured Y/N’s attention. She was unprepared for this.
Y/N stood at the driver’s door of her car. Her keys tightened in her hands but she refused to face him or climb in the car to drive away. Aemond took the lack of fight as an invitation to approach. He got as far as a hand brushing her shoulder before Y/N became a tempest of withheld rage. “You haven’t given me a reason to forgive you. So I can and I will.”
Aemond scoffed, she was being immature. Or, she was the immature one, to him. “I’ve already apologized. It’s been nine months.”
Y/N’s scowl was one of disbelief. “No!” He couldn’t be serious. “No you didn’t Aemond. An apology isn’t some ridiculously expensive Yule gift or a mumble in passing about how it wasn’t your best night.” She pushed his chest as she entered his space. Her temper radiated and forced him to take steps back. This was all too familiar. “An apology is an “I’m sorry. I fucked up. I let my jealousy blind me to my actions.” And then you make changes to your behavior that reflect your remorse. Ugh!”
She turned away once more. She couldn’t stand him. She wanted to return to their exile. The best she could do is withhold her gaze. Aemond was frozen, feet away on the asphalt as she made her final remark. “So no, you haven’t apologized.”
Aemond liked to think of himself as an unwavering, incorruptible pillar, but Y/N was a force of nature. She couldn’t always move him, but she could leave him battered and bruised. She was one of the few who could leave him uncomfortably still. She made him want to move, but somehow also pinned him in his place.
Helaena and Aegon returned to their childhood rooms. All Hightower-Targaryen children were together again. This go round, their parents were serene by comparison. It was agreed upon that until their youngest graduated college and was fully independent, they’d both reside on the estate but in separate wings. After that, Alicent would move out and move on. She’d always be welcome for family gatherings, obviously.
Y/N, true to her determination, claimed the pool house. Not much changed, just bed sheets and decor. The younger Targaryens and Velaryons gravitated to Y/N’s new set up. For one, there was the summer activity of the pool. The adults rarely made appearances in the pool house. It was unsupervised territory and there were snacks. It was a perfect impromptu clubhouse. When Y/N was over it, she’d kick them out till the next day- save Helaena.
That’s who she presumed was knocking on her door. The sun was setting and the sky turned all shades of pastel. Helaena was an unexpected delight. Y/N’d show her how far along she was in redoing the pool house. Helaena’d pick out a movie. Y/N would order something to be delivered. But it wasn’t Helaena at her door. It was Aemond.
Expensive wooden blinds covered the glass doors for privacy. Y/N couldn’t see Aemond lying in wait. When she swung the door open, ready with an open smile and a remark, everything faltered. Y/N’s mouth remained open, hung in surprise. Aemond dared turn up to her sanctuary, sneaking past the residents of the primary household, and stood as if he was an invited guest. In his hands rested a pizza box, a stack of favorite snacks, and the mini projector they used to use to watch vintage movies.
For someone who strived to be Aegon’s opposite, he certainly shared the presumptuous smirk. They started using it as boys when they knew their mother wouldn’t follow through on whatever punishment she promised. Grown, it was reserved for when they pulled one over on the other, or they were certain they secured a girl’s attention. Y/N went to slam the door in his face. That smirk was gasoline to her fire. Aemond stopped her by nudging himself against the frame, preventing her momentum from gaining traction.
His smirk faded into a gentle smile. “I know I fucked up and I know I should’ve made amends long ago. I couldn’t move past my pride and I see how ridiculous it- I was.”
Y/N remained mute but she stood aside to let him in. His eyes sparkled with hope. He looked around at the new set up. His heart panged in regret. He would’ve been here with her the last few days, setting up, but he missed the opportunity. Though different in appearance, the layout remained the same. He made his way to the kitchen and placed the peace offering on the counter. Y/N leaned against the archway that connected the kitchen to the living room. She was barefoot, in her pajama shorts, and an oversized university sweatshirt. Her usual sleeping attire.
She remained in place, arms folded and on guard. “If you haven’t noticed, your opinion means a lot to me. So those insults you freely discarded really took a dig at my self esteem.”
Something caught in Aemond’s throat. There was a deep seated urgency that drove his thoughts in quick succession. She valued his opinion. That was something he had yet to consciously think of, or maybe he did and his subconscious couldn’t believe it. It clouded his mind with unpinnable anxiety. She never required him to earn her consideration. She gave it freely and he dashed it’s worth against the rocks. She hadn’t clung to her anger. She clung to her hurt. Everything fell into place, he never needed to wait out or cool her fury. He had to bandage the wounds he blindly made.
“Y/N,” He pleaded earnestly. “I never wanted to make you feel that way. I was just, ugh!” There was a deep rumble from within his chest, directed at himself. “I was angry and frustrated-”
“And you let the green eyed monster take over.” She cut him off with the obvious. If she didn’t, he’d dance around it.
Meekly, he confirmed her observation. “Maybe.”
“Aemond.” Y/N took a step into the kitchen. Her moves were tentative to prevent any reflexive bolt on Aemond’s end. “Be honest with me, because if you aren’t you won’t like the result.”
“What?” He immediately shot back in nervous suspicion.
Y/N was blunt. Her voice was flat, giving no indications. “Do you have feelings for me?” She stunned him. Her words were the headlights and he was the deer in the roadway. There was a long silence, hoping for an interjection. There wasn’t one. Aemond was forced to speak, stuttering, “What?” Y/N again swept closer. Her tone remained without any indication. “Do you have feelings for me?”
“I,” Aemond tried to gather composure, but the anxiety already made its way to his very blood and pumped through his veins. “I don’t know. Yes? Maybe.”
Y/N held her breath till she was forced to exhale. The release broke their eye contact. Her hands became very interesting. Her fingers rocked back and forth over smooth palms. She swallowed to hold back the intensity of her unease. The bubble of plausible ignorance had burst.
“I… I know. I knew for a while now. I see it in the way you look at me.” She huffed. “Like I hung the moon or something. You treat me differently. You’re not as… gentle with anyone else.” Crystalized eyes looked up through damp lashes. “You shouldn’t. I thought that by playing ignorant it would fade with time. I didn’t want anything to change, and I failed to realize it already had.”
Feeling emboldened by the honesty that settled over the conversation, Aemond spoke up. His voice was freshly assured. “We’re not kids anymore.”
Y/N fluttered her eyes clear, melancholy at the acceptance. “No, we’re not.”
Aemond grew bolder, he took a step forward and tucked her hand in his. She allowed him to run his thumb over the dainty skin of her knuckles. It sent a shiver down her spine and to try hiding her gasp, she turned her head away. Aemond refused the escape. He took her chin between his thumb and index finger, directing her focus back to him. “I’m not Helaena’s nerdy little brother anymore.”
Y/N nodded ever so slightly in his grasp. He held her attention captive. The roles reversed. She was now the deer. “No, you’re not.”
It was then and there or never at all. Without the veil of naivety or shaky denials, Aemond took action. He cupped her cheek, tunnel visioned her lips, and went in.
His attempt broke the hypnosis that settled over Y/N. The deer made its dash. She slipped out of his hold and held herself. Before Aemond could fully feel the impact of rejection, Y/N surpassed his chance to speak. “I don’t know what I feel for you, but whatever it is, isn’t the same as what you feel for me.”
She dressed in a warm, sorrowful smile. A smile nonetheless. Though weary, her eyes hinted at a spark of hope. It was enough for Aemond, for now. He did not buck or bolt.
“I can wait.” It was as solemn as any vow he’d take. “I’ve waited for you for eight years already. You’re worth a thousand more.”
Y/N’s lip quivered. “What if I never feel the same?” It was a defiant, whisper of a question.
Aemond felt a familiar warmth spread from his heart. There was a sense of nostalgia which acted as the source of heat. Gods she was insufferable, but that’s why he fell in love with her. His eyes held the twinkle now. Like the sun reflecting off the water. Certain. “You will. I know you will because we’re meant to be together.” He brightened ever so slightly. “I’ve known it since the day we first met.”
Unironically, Y/N mumbled, “I’m sure shoving Aegon’s face into the dirt had something to do with it.”
He felt at ease enough to chuckle. Still, so certain. “Possibly.”
Worry reclaimed Y/N. He was too assured. “What if I develop feelings for someone else while you’re waiting? I don’t want you to be compelled to the sidelines forever. It wouldn’t be fair.”
Aemond’s breath faltered into rigidness. “I promise I will no longer interfere. It’s my choice to wait, and you’d be a hypocrite to interfere with that.”
Y/N nodded as her mind wandered off to the infinite possibilities. They made her dizzy. She steadied herself by collapsing onto a kitchen stool. Her head rested against her crossed arms, the counter barring her weight. As it just so happened, she’d tucked in right in front of the pizza box. She could smell the contents and they pulled her out of her plummet.
She raised her head, to Aemond’s surprise and delight, with a friendly smirk. “All this seriousness is making me hungry, and we have an apology pie to eat.”

I saw you rebogged the valentine's day soulmate!
Might I humbly request a 'tell no lies' mixed with 'no harm done' with Solomon with a female mc. I mostly enjoy the hijinks of that concept, everyone terrified of Solomon's cooking while mc is seemingly unaffected or a stray spell that hits mc that should hurt them but all is fine. And while everyone knows Solomon is shady, even he notices that he's a bit more honest towards mc, no matter how much he tries to keep his mirth about him!
AHHHH I'm sorry I got carried away. I just love your writing so much I absolutely can't wait to see what you do. Even if it isn't my request! Hope all is well!
Solomon - Tell No Lie/No Harm Done
Solomon x GN! reader
Prompts: It’s impossible to lie to your soulmate + soulmates are not able to hurt each other physically.
AN: Hello, dear sweet anon! This was an interesting request because I'd never thought of combining the prompts, so this was super fun to work with! I would like to make quick mention that I had every intention to write it for the requested female reader, but the way it flowed, I never used any defining pronouns other than you/yours, so I really hope that's okay! :) Once again, thank you for being patient, I know it was a long wait. And thank you for your kind words as well! Take care of yourself, anon! 💕
Warnings: Implied established soulmate connection/relationship, cameo of a Barbatos, hehe
Cocytus Hall was filled with a mouth-watering smell as you slaved away at the oven. It was nearing lunchtime, and you had decided to prepare a nice meal for both yourself and Solomon. He’d been cooped up in his room researching, so you were on your own in the kitchen today.
On most occasions, Solomon would join you to keep you company as you cooked. He knew to keep to himself as many of his cooking creations quickly turned disastrous, often ruining the kitchen – which you both would be stuck cleaning afterwards. Still, you yearned for his arms to wrap around you from behind like they so often did.
Today’s lunch was simple and something near and dear to your heart: grilled cheese sandwiches paired with tomato soup. A comforting meal from your home realm. You knew Solomon would be ecstatic to have some human realm food too since it’s been awhile.
The sandwiches sizzle in the skillet, and you’re about to flip them, when a knock raps from the front door. You quickly turn the burners off so nothing burns while you’re gone before making your way through the Hall. Once in front of the door, you turn the handle and open it to see Barbatos standing there with a cordial smile.
You return the smile as you greet him. “Afternoon, Barbatos. What are you doing here?”
“Good afternoon to you as well. I came by to conduct my routine inspections, as per usual. I hope I arrived at an opportune time.”
Oh, that’s right. It’s a new month, so of course he’d be stopping by soon. You give a shake your head to reassure him of his worries. “You’re fine, you’re not disrupting us or anything. I was in the middle of making lunch, but you searching through the other rooms won’t bother that.”
You step aside to allow him entry, to which he bows slightly before walking in. “And Solomon? He’s not...assisting you, is he?” he scowls as the sorcerer’s name passes his lips. It’s enough to miss, but you think you saw him shudder at the thought of Solomon in the kitchen. You quickly wave him off with a slight chuckle.
“No, no. He’s been in his room all day. So, no need to w-”
Before you can finish your sentence, a loud bang that seems to shake the whole building erupts from the kitchen. Both you and Barbatos startle, glancing to each other with similar thoughts…
Solomon.
You instantly being running through the Hall to the kitchen. Barbatos’ steps are quickly trailing yours, expecting to see disaster, but upon arrival – there’s no sign that anything had happened. Solomon’s stood in front of the stove looking into the pot that had the tomato soup in it with his hands placed on his hips, as if he were confused. He must’ve smelled the food and snuck in while you were away.
“Solomon, what was that noise?” you ask in a frantic tone, rushing over to check the soup. The once thick and smooth, red liquid now looked purple and chunky. Solomon sighs, rubbing his forehead.
“That would be me. I thought adding chili flakes would give the soup the kick it needs, but I seem to have misread the label and added popping fire salamander flakes instead.”
Barbatos watches from the doorway, narrowing his eyes incredulously. “How on earth did you misread that? Did you bother to read at all?”
Solomon looks over his shoulder to dispute Barbatos, but stops once he realizes he’s right. He sighs once again. “I guess it was more of a mix-up than a misread…” To his credit, they do look similar. So, it was an honest mistake.
You grab the wooden spoon that had been in the pot and lift it out to find the end burnt off from the substance that used to be soup. Another cooking utensil ruined due to Solomon’s influence. You shake your head as you place it down on the counter for now while trying to figure out how to salvage this mess. You’re about to reach for another spoon, but Solomon stops you, gently grabbing your wrist and pulling it away.
“I’ve got this. I’ll just use my magic to stir it, and once it’s good and stirred, the soup will be perfect!” He’s a little too optimistic for an outcome both you and Barbatos know will be disastrous.
“Wait, Solomon-” but it’s too late. Solomon casts a quick spell into the pot, though the contents don’t begin to stir around like you thought it would. Instead, it begins to bubble ominously.
You glance to Solomon, who watches it a little more intently than you do, wanting to see the result of his magic. “Uh, Solomon? What’s it doing?”
“I’m not...sure...”
Before either of you can react, the spell is rejected from the bubbling substance, and it bounces out and hits you at full force, knocking you backwards onto the floor. Both Solomon and Barbatos rush to check on you.
“By the gods,” Solomon says panicked as he kneels beside you, helping you sit up slowly, “are you alright? I had no idea that would happen.”
Barbatos kneels on the other side of you, eyes wide as they flicker around your face in concern. You take a moment to regroup, not feeling any different than before. You feel fine, actually. “I’m okay. Just a little shaken.”
“I’m sure you are,” Barbatos says, though he seems skeptical that you’re truly alright. “It appears some of the “matter” has splattered onto your face as well.”
“It’s just soup, Barbatos.” Solomon corrects as he wipes a little off with his thumb before licking it. His eyes light up and he smiles with an “mmh” coming from his throat. “That’s tasty. I think I really added to it.”
You wipe some off your cheek as well, tasting it, raising your eyebrows in mild surprise. “That is good, Solomon.”
Barbatos lifts an inquisitive brow, not believing a word of this for a second. But if someone other than Solomon thinks it’s good, maybe the sorcerer really did pull off the impossible. Barbatos raises back up to his height, walking towards the pot as he slides his glove off and dips his finger in the pot to get a taste as well. The moment the soup touches his tongue, he grimaces. The substance is too thick, sticking to his throat like glue. How did you manage to swallow it?
“Do you often eat Solomon’s cooking?” the butler asks, turning back to catch Solomon producing a handkerchief from his pocket and delicately wiping the mess off of your face.
You give a small nod as you respond, “yeah, I’ve always enjoyed his food.” That response alone makes Solomon smile proudly.
Barbatos blinks a few times in confusion, but relents as he realizes it’ll never make sense to him. You are an anomaly. No doubt about it. “Well, I suppose you and Solomon are more aligned than I thought previously,” he studies the way Solomon gazes at you, taking care of you as if you were the most fragile thing in the three realms. He sees the bond between the two of you. A bond no one else is allowed in on, let alone know intimate details about. “Much more.”
Solomon picks up on Barbatos’ words and clears his throat as he folds up the dirty handkerchief. “Of course, we’re aligned.” He directs his next words to you exclusively, speaking from nothing but his heart, “we’re aligned in mind, body, and most importantly...our souls.”

I just love drawing families of fictional characters, its interesting to think of how each sibling would look. I try to make them different from one another but at the same time maintain familial similarities.
Jinzha resembles their mom, Muzha their dad, and Nezha's a good mix of both.
Also get ready with some sibling dynamic rant, mostly relation HCs by me.
Enough with the parent child dynamic
I want sibling dynamic. Where these three come to terms on what happened between them. Specifically Muzha and Nezha's interaction is the one I want to see.
Tbh those two's fates in the myth reminded me of Hyakkimaru and Tahomaru in Dororo.
Like Nezha and Muzha had so much potential to gain solidarity with each other. Because Jinzha could never relate to them as the ignored or unwanted child. Muzha has that middle child stuggle fr.
Muzha is the one so eager to gain their fathers favor trying to meet Jinzha's level . Nezha wants nothing from his father so he makes himself worse.
Muzha's frustration with Nezha is that Nezha is rebellious, disrespectful of their dad
While Nezha's frustration to Muzha is that Muzha is so blinded and always struggling to achieve something so futile. Deep down he hates how Muzha is suffering this way but he wouldnt speak of it. This is why they always at odds.
They should make a movie focusin the Li brothers fr
Other than overusing the actual myths.
Fuck the ending from the original myth, they didnt even consider how the children felt from all the abuse. Not even mention of Muzha's death.
Enough Ao Bing, what about Muzha???
And the moral lesson is just about "respecting elders"?? The story still had so much to wrap up. How can you call this a family if there is some sort of hierarchal system. A family requires empathy to maintain that connection.
Tbh its kinda realistic
Families and siblings can still inflict trauma from each other .And a story based on reconcilation is a good way for this to be about family counselling.
I wanna see the "what ifs". It could be each brothers own story of self healing from the trauma caused on each other.
Maybe Im getting my hopes up too much, but it could be a development for them to forgive, start anew and an opportunity to connect and catch up on what they missed on each other.
Edit:
As for Jinzha he also has his own struggles as the eldest. Keeping up the station as the golden favored and perfect son. But its Asian family dynamics, which means hes in a lot of pressure. But he is mentally and emotionally strong. The brothers always busy on his studies ,future responsibilities and training to be able to spend time together. Their timetables seemed to be planned out to always not meet. Jinzha especially had less freetime. And if he ever came across any of his brothers, it was only one of them never both.
He doesnt mind being a buffer for the other two feuding but it does stress him out that it will never change. But he'll make sure to give time and attention to both of them as much as he can.
Other than keeping up his fathers expectations he also doesnt want to fail as a big brother to them🥺😭
Muzha and Nezha can see his efforts so they do not dare hold anything against him. Muzha still keeps his competitive attitude when Jinzha's around but accepts any offered kindness from Jinzha. While Nezha enjoys his company when he gets the chance.
Also because I tend to hold on to this little bit of bonding😭🥺🥺Jinzha trying to be the best big bro
Thinking of the contrast in the future where Jinzha was tasked to torture Nezha destroyed me😭😭😭What did Jinzha even feel while he had to do it??
Also here some Nezha with his hair down again

Some more Lies of P translation notes!
Some cool translation details that I thought were fun that didn't fit anywhere else.
[long!]
[Spoilers]
In the Korean version, Geppetto is speaking an "old-fashioned"/archaic form of Korean to reflect the time period that the game is set in
Set around the turn of the century (late 1800s), mimicking the Belle Époque of France's industrial revolution, we can guess that the game's events take place during the late 1800s. Given Geppetto's status as "old geezer", we can guess that he's closer to 100 than not, so he would have been born around the early 1800s. I might not be completely accurate - basically, he's speaking as an elderly person might speak in current time to culturally reflect his age; other times I notice he's using some words that are now out of use.
From the game's initial trailer:
깨어나거라, 아들아. 이제 이 아비를 기쁘게 해다오. Wake up, son. Make this father happy/proud.
The word he uses for "father" is "Abi" (아비), which is an archaic word for "father". In current day, korean speakers would generally use "Abeoji" (아버지).
The -gura(거라)/-DaOh(다오) conjugation is also an additional syllable that has since fallen out of use, or is considered archaic, in current korean:
아들아, 네 심장을 다오. Son, give me your heart.
하지만 알아 다오, 나는 너도 사랑했단다. But know this, I loved you too. English VA version: In my own way, I grew to love you.
This is also apparent in Geppetto's final letter at the end:
우릴 방해할 자는 이제 없을 거란다. 너를 위한 크라트를 다시 만들어주마. (-juma, Supposedly, only a "superior" speaker can use -juma) 그때까지 호텔에 조심해서 머물러 다오. 너를 누구보다도 아끼는 아버지가.
He also uses the -Oh ending again. (although he does call himself "Abeoji" 아버지 here and not "abi" like the trailer. He uses "Abi" again in another instance when responding to a guesture)
It's a very cool detail to me. I think it's a bit missed opportunity that, as far as I know, the english version doesn't seem to reflect this! Although to be fair, I'm struggling to imagine how they would. 19th century english/french maybe isn't as different or isn't different in the same ways from "modern" english that 19th century Korean would be from "modern" Korean. [Well, my only education on this stuff is from watching episodes of Dae Jang Geum]. I haven't checked to see if any other character (like Antonia) speaks this way. [Pls message me if Geppetto also speaks like this in your or any other language version!!]
Lies of P, Blood, puns, and the P-Organ
The P-Organ, in Korean, is referred to as the P기관. 기관 (gi-gwan), however, doesn't necessarily correlate directly to the word "Organ": It's quite an interesting word to choose because it can refer to any system of moving parts, both organic or mechanical; and it can mean an organ, a machine, or even a governmental body or institute.
As you may have heard by now, the game's titular pun revolves around the fact that the english character for P sounds the word for "blood" in korean (피), making the title (P의 거짓 P-ie Geojit?) read like Lies of Blood, in a nutshell. The title Lies of Blood then fits into the becoming-real flesh-and-blood themes of the game, perhaps also suggests that the deception in Krat has cost the lives of many - and, of course, references the lying of the titular character, who is inferred to be none other than (P)inocchio! So, in Korean, the P-Organ (P기관) becomes something like the Blood Engine. Which rather sounds like a euphemism for a heart!
[Perhaps: It's also a bit of narrative that Geppetto refuses to refer to it as our heart, unless he refers to it as belonging to Carlo.]
In English, this wordplay no longer exists, and so it's rather awkwardly literally translated (as the P-Organ).
How do you say, "NEOWIZ"?
I've seen a few people ask about the pronunciation of NEOWIZ (Lies' publishing company). Hangul is phonetic, so you could (technically) say the official pronunciation of NEOWIZ (네오위즈) is Nae-Oh Wiz and not Neo (like the Matrix character) -wiz.
However [in my opinion], I don't think this matters, because when something is translated to another language, it often takes the pronunciation of the language it is read in. Kind of like how in english you would read the capital of France correctly as Paris (with an S sound at the end), and not "Pari" (french pronunciation).
Also, Krat is consistently pronounced by in-game characters as "Krot" (Long O, rhymes with "Cot" or "Not") in the english version. In the game korean releases, "Krat" is written as 크라트, which would be pronounced and read as "Krat" (short A, rhymes with "Rat" or "Cat").
[I think the devs also say "Krat" too. The rounder "O" pronunciation of "A" in words seem like more of a European pronunciation in general]
The "Youngest of the Black Rabbit Brotherhood" and Gender
In Korean culture, Age is particularly significant in both Korean social hierarchy and language, and the role/position of being the youngest in a group is a particular role known as being the "maknae" (I mean, I definitely think this also exists in the western world, people definitely would understand being the "youngest" one in your family, but it's slightly different from that).
Despite being a member of the brotherhood, she refers to her brothers as "Oppa", which is when the word "brother" is used by female speakers to an older male subject (Remember Gangnam style?) [A male speaker would use "Hyung". I debated putting this one in, because to me, it seemed kind of obvious, but I did see others asking about this.]
[Given that the developers are from a korean studio, I am choosing to believe that the subtitles provided by the game's "korean" version are the text/script as originally written intended by the developers!]
#lies of p#liesofp#lop#thanks for reading#I hope ppl enjoyed#im not sure how interesting this is to other ppl!! but its neato to me#translation#translations#localization#korean#spoilers#lies of p spoilers#p machine p engine p system... all of it sounds worse lol#neowiz#also... maybe geppetto being the only one speaking in that archaic way shows that he is stuck in the past? idk

Web of Lies
Summary: You arrived Westview searching for a happy life, but Wanda realized your plans.
Word count: 2400ish
Warnings: Angst,Hurt/Comfort,fluff,Agatha being a flirty menace.
Masterlist
A cheerful voice brought you out of your thoughts.
"Hello,Y/N, How are you?"
"Hi,Mrs. Maximoff, I'm fine. Thanks for asking. How are you?"
"I'm fine, thanks sweetie, but please call me Wanda; Mrs. Maximoff is too serious; we are next door neighbors; you have stayed at my house to eat or watch my children when I was busy," she replied smiling.
"Oh, sorry, Mrs. Maxi—I mean Wanda," you said.
"Don't worry, sweetie," she smiled. "This afternoon, Vis and I are going to organize the neighborhood meal; would you like to come? You just got to Westview a little while ago; I guess you don't know everyone yet. If you want to go, it's at 5:00 p.m."
"I'll try to come, but I'm not sure if—"
You were interrupted by the voice of a black-haired woman.
"Wanda, look at that pretty dress," said the raven-haired woman, pointing at the purple dress with gold ribbons.
You had seen her before, walking with Wanda or near the park. Her name was Agape, or something like that.
"My name is Agatha Harkness, hun. And yours?" She said it almost as if she had read your mind.
"Y/N, Miss Harkness. Pleased to meet you," you replied.
"Wanda, you never told me you had such a good-looking and well-mannered friend," said Agatha, nudging Wanda lightly with her elbow.
Wanda sighed and resumed talking to you.
"You're going to the neighborhood meal, then?" asked Wanda. "I'd love to have you there."
"Hun,you totally have to come. The food Wanda makes seems almost magical," she smiled. "Plus, I'd love to have you there too." she winked.
"Well, if you put it that way, I'll have to go." You smiled back.
"I'm glad, Y/N; the twins will be very happy to see you," Wanda said.
"I'll be glad to see you too, hun," said Agatha, winking. "See you later," she added, giving you two effusive kisses on the cheek, making you smell her perfume.
After saying goodbye to both women, you went to your house, and after looking left and right and checking that no one was looking at you, you opened the door.
You left your keys on a table in the hall, took off your shoes, and went to your room.
You took your phone out of your pocket and called the only number you had on that cell phone.
"Agent Y/LN speaking. I need to contact Tyler Hayward."
"Right away, agent," replied the voice on the other end of the line.
"Agent Y/L/N,I was told you wanted to talk to me."
"Yes, director,I have news about the mission at the Westview anomaly."
"Oh yeah? Good work, agent. Add the information to the device created to do the investigation. Any more information you want to disclose?"
"Yes director. I've been invited by Maximoff to the neighborhood potluck."
"Excellent. It will be a good opportunity to gather more information."
"Yes, Director."
"Don't make contact until absolutely necessary, agent. Things are tense, and we can't allow her to suspect you. Our other agent may be in danger of being discovered."
"Should I inform her?"
"No agent. Continue with the investigation," Hayward said before hanging up.
After Hayward hung up, you pulled out a small rectangular device with a button in the center.
From it emerged a hologram that displayed all the information you had gathered about Wanda and the anomaly, along with photos of her and other Westview locations and advertisements, connected to holographic threads with other information, creating a maze of threads, photos, and notes.
You added some more information that you had gotten, creating a data entry for Agatha Harkness and the meal you were going to attend.
After this, you rested for a while and prepared to attend the meal.
You got dressed, grabbed a couple of bottles of booze from the fridge, and headed towards the place where the neighborhood parties were being held.
You greeted the neighbors you met and went to Wanda, who smiled broadly when she saw you arrive.
"There was no need to have brought those drinks, honey."
"Don't worry, Wanda; you invited me, so it seemed like the right thing to do," you replied, smiling. "Where do you want me to leave them?"
"Put them in that cooler over there, along with the rest of the drinks".
You nodded, and after leaving the bottles, you went back to Wanda.
"I'm so glad you were encouraged to come, Y/N."
"Thanks, Wanda. Anyhow, I didn't have much to do this afternoon."
"Enjoy the food, honey. It's on that table over there."
"If you need help, let me know, Wanda." You smiled, trying to hide your true intentions as a S.W.O.R.D. agent. By talking to Wanda, she might relax and inadvertently reveal some secrets that could be useful.
"Don't worry, sweetie, enjoy."
You smiled and headed to the table, grabbing some food and pouring yourself a glass of your favorite drink.
You were talking to some of your neighbors and Wanda until a woman interrupted the conversation you were having with some neighbors.
"I'm so glad you could make it,hun," said Agatha. "Allow me to steal this extremely good-looking neighbor," she added, dragging you out of the conversation.
You let Agatha drag you to one of the tables in the corner and started talking with an abundance of flirting on her part, sometimes making you blush and stumble with your words.
However, thanks to the conversation, you managed to get important information about Wanda: she and her husband, Vision, had had a strong argument, which culminated with him leaving the house to go to sleep somewhere else.
After lunch, you went home and added the new information you had obtained to the information you already had.
After that, you went back to contact Hayward.
"Agent Y/L/N, I told you not to contact me again. This is the second time you have called me today."
"Director, I have important information."
"Release it right now, agent. If it's not good enough, I'm going to relegate you to desk duty."
You rolled your eyes when you heard this. You were one of the best agents S.W.O.R.D. had, and both Hayward and you knew it.
"Vision, the android synthroid, has had a falling out with Maximoff. They're not together right now."
"Great time to strike. I'll get the troops ready then and warn the agent we have there. Too bad Maximoff found out; now you're the only one there."
"This information had not been communicated to me."
"It was not deemed necessary."
"My safety is important. I believe that-"
"Silence, agent. Prepare for attack."
"Director, one last thing. I don't think Wanda is aware of the damage she causes people in the hex."
"I don't care about that. We're going on tonight. Grab your gear and get ready," Hayward replied dryly before hanging up.
"What an asshole!" you muttered.
You prepared your equipment and weapons and waited for nightfall so you could carefully escape from your house and join the rest of the agents.
"Agent Y/L/N, you finally arrived," said Hayward sarcastically.
"I live in Westview; I have to be careful not to be suspected."
"Nonsense. Get ready. Maximoff is coming."
You nodded, rolling your eyes, and after girding your helmet on your head, you waited for Wanda to arrive.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The mission had not gone as expected.
Wanda had controlled the soldiers to target Hayward, and after a tense discussion, she returned to the hex, but not before taking an agent hostage.
She dragged you to her house without saying a word to you,and after arriving at her house, she took you to her basement and, with a snap of her fingers, chained you to a chair.
"Trying to attack my house doesn't seem like a good idea," she said, her voice marked by her Sokovian accent and anger.
You didn't respond, so she wouldn't recognize your voice.
"Oh, so the agent doesn't respond? Let's see who's behind this helmet, shall we?" She said, pulling the helmet off your head.
When she saw your face, it fell to the ground.
"You," she said, her voice marked by surprise and anger.
"Wanda,I'm sorry,I-"
"Shut up!" she snarled, her eyes glowing red. "Really Y/N? You've been in my house, you've been taking care of my kids, and it turns out that all this time, you were working for S.W.O.R.D."
"Wanda, I-"
She held up her hand, shushing you using her magic.
"You lied to me, Y/N. I let you into my house,I talked to you about my family, everything I lost, and this is how you repay me?" she said, tears threatening to spill from her eyes.
"Wanda, I'm sorry; I never meant to hurt you!"
"You never meant any harm." Wanda laughed dryly. "Lies. You took advantage of me,just like Monica! All S.W.O.R.D. is the same!"
"Is Monica okay?" you asked, with a lump in your throat.
"Yes. But I don't think she's going to be able to say the same about you. You're going to stay here,in chains, watching me destroy your beloved S.W.O.R.D.," he said menacingly, his eyes glowing red.
"Wanda, please,if you surrender peacefully, you can get a deal, but if you attack, you will lose all your chances."
Wanda walked up to you and grabbed your chin hard.
"Shut up before I send you back to S.W.O.R.D. so they can finish you off. For the hostage to come back safe and sound from a person as dangerous as me is not a good sign, is it?"
You nodded in fear.
"Wanda, please don't do anything you might regret."
"Do you regret all the harm you have done to me?" she replied hatefully. "Surely every time you spoke to me it was to get information out of me. Every smile, every joke, and every day taking care of my children was just one more opportunity for you. More information, more ideas on how to steal everything from me."
You didn't respond.
"Answer me Y/N!"
"I'm sorry, Wanda. I really am."
Wanda scoffed and turned away before glaring hatefully at you once again.
Then she went to your house, and with a flick of her wrist, the door opened, and she entered your house.
She walked to your room, looking for something you could gather information on.
After a few minutes, she found a cell phone and checked the contacts; there was only one: Tyler Hayward.
She called, and a male voice answered.
"Agent Y/LN,are you okay?"
"Your beloved agent can't come to the phone right now, Hayward. You've tried to trash everything I cared about,so now I'll return the favor."
"Wanda-"
The call was cut short when Wanda hung up and threw the cell phone on the floor, walking out of your house.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hayward's face denoted anger.
"Get a team ready. Now. The witch is going down."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Your mind was racing, looking for ways to get out of the chains that were trapping you.
After trying but not succeeding, you decided to take the last decision you had left: dislocate your thumbs so you could remove your hands and try to get the chains away from your body.
With a grunt of pain, you succeeded and pulled the chains away from your body.
You stood up, put your thumbs back in place, and grabbed your helmet.
You looked around the basement you were in to see if you could find any weapons, and after a while, you found your gun.
You checked and saw that you only had three bullets left.
You put on your helmet, and after putting on your bulletproof vest, you left Wanda's house to prevent her from dying.
After walking for a while, you reached the edge of the hex and got out.
You could hear the screams of agents, the sound of bullets, and the smell of gunpowder in the air, so you quickly went there.
You found Wanda, with a couple of cuts and a bloody nose, surrounded by several agents with some kind of electric gun that prevented her powers from working properly.
Your gaze met Hayward's, and at that moment, you made a decision. S.W.O.R.D. or Wanda The decision was easy.
You raised your gun and pointed it at one of your former comrades' weapons, causing an explosion of sparks to fly out of it and knock him out.
Wanda used that moment of surprise to knock out more agents while you ran to one of the cars, knocking out the driver with the butt of your gun and starting the car's engine.
A mixture of surprise and hatred crossed Wanda's face, and it was in that moment of distraction that a bullet pierced her shoulder, causing her to fall to the ground in pain.
You went to her aid, firing the two bullets that you had left and quickly pulling Wanda into the "borrowed" car.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
When Wanda opened her eyes again, the first thing she saw was your worried face.
She tried to get up, but a piercing pain shot through her shoulder.
"Careful, even if I took the bullet out of you, you're still hurt."
"Where the hell are we?" asked Wanda.
"My house. We'll be safe here for the time being."
"Why?
"Why what?
"Why did you save me?"
You sighed.
"Wanda, I really care about you. It may have been a mission for S.W.O.R.D., but it wasn't for me. I really cared about you. You were someone I could trust."
"Where are my children?"
"I left them my movies and food and told them you were with me to prepare a meal and discuss some stuff so you'll sleep here this night."
"Thank you."
You nodded and stood up.
"I'll bring you the food."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
You were awakened by a cry of pain.
You quickly ran to the room where Wanda was and found her sitting up in bed, wincing in pain.
"Have your stitches opened up?"
"N-No, it was just a bad dream."
"Do you want me to stay here just in case?"
Wanda hesitated, but after a few seconds, she nodded.
You pulled up a chair and stood next to the bed.
In a moment of boldness, you grabbed her hand.
"I'm going to show you that I really care about you, Wanda. I promise."
A smile bloomed on Wanda's lips.
"If you give me a dish this good again, I might start to believe it."
"Rest assured," you said. "Sleep," you said, giving Wanda a kiss on her forehead. "I'll be here for you."

The King With No Name
8. Do You Trust Me?
Part 1
Next part
Summary: König - the king of Caldera - has been called upon by your father to choose a bride from his daughters in order to establish an alliance to keep peace over the lands they rule. When he arrives, he is enraptured by you, your father’s eldest child - an unconventional woman by all standards. He pursues your hand in marriage, doing his best to make you fall in love with him like he has fallen in love with you - much to your dismay Author's Notes: fucking finally. Also this is long sorry. Also, would people be interested in reading a kidnapper!konig fic? Warnings: Arranged marriage, SMUT, betrayal, pining, ultimate wingmanship
-----
You wasted away slowly as you sat in König’s castle.
Each day dragged on but the weeks seemed to fly by. You were allowed to do nothing alone - soldiers stood outside your door and on the balcony as you slept, forever vigilant. They remained outside of the bathroom as you bathed, the maids entrusted with your care keeping a watchful eye on you as you washed.
You ate with others watching too, though they did not eat with you. You were no longer allowed into the barracks or onto the training grounds, no longer allowed to leave the castle at all, and the silence warped your dreams into nightmares.
Some of the men who guarded you looked upon you with pity, others neutrality, some kindness. The ones you loathed the most were the ones who stared at you with fear behind their eyes - it was not fear of you, but rather, what your husband would do to them if you were to escape.
You watched out the windows during the day as the world bustled around you, as others lived their lives in normalcy. You coveted any news that reached your ears about the conflict - König was winning, of course, beating back his enemies and pushing them out of his lands. But there was no word of your family - of Sadie, of Lydia, of mother or father or even Henry.
Ferdinand was a common figure in your nightmares.
—
König hadn’t shown his face back at his castle, but he had returned to the city several times. It was Wilhelm who visited you one evening as you sat by the fire, cleaning the bow you hadn’t used in what felt like forever.
“My lady,” he called softly as he approached your seat. You didn’t react, not bothering to look up at him.
“My lady, I’d like to speak with you about König,” he attempted cautiously, sitting down across from you with a sigh. You looked up sharply.
“I have no words for my jailer. That is all. Go,” you demanded, looking back down at your bow. Wilhelm sighed quietly.
“What would you do to help your people?” he asked after a moment, fixing his gaze heavily on you.
“More than just sitting here, rotting away in a castle that doesn’t belong to me,” you spat, glaring at Wilhelm.
“I’d like to give you that opportunity if you’d only hear me out,” he said. You sat stock still, not having to think it over for long.
“Then speak.”
“Come away from this castle with me to see König. Lay with him again,” Wilhelm said, his cheeks turning pink. Your mouth fell open.
“You’ve come all this way, lied to me about being able to help my people, and dangled freedom over my head so you could demand that I have sex with König? You’re a bastard and König is worse. I have never lain with him and I never will. Leave me alone!” you snarled, rising from your seat and stalking towards the door.
“Wait! Please, I should have explained myself. König misses you, misses your touch. He hasn’t said it but I can see it in him. He’s more violent, more angry, more impatient. He’s starting to become reckless. I need your help to focus him!” Wilhelm yelled. You picked a book off of a shelf and hurled it at him. He ducked it just in time.
“Fuck off!” you shrieked, snatching your bow from where it lay and storming out of the room and toward your bedroom, your guards following close behind.
—
That night was hot, and after returning from your bath, you noticed that your maids had not built a fire in your fireplace. Once the bustle around you had settled and you had been confined to your bed, the guards had left to stand watch around the entrances to your room, leaving you alone.
You blew out the candles one at a time as you did each night, and after waiting some time under the covers, the castle quieted. As the moon rose outside you dressed as quickly and as quietly as you could, tightening the straps on your armor and pulling a hooded cloak on over your clothing to hide yourself.
With your weapons by your side, you stepped into the fireplace, gazing up the chimney and catching sight of the stars above. The climb wouldn’t be far, and judging by the roughness of the stone walls, it wouldn’t be that difficult either.
As you hauled yourself out of the chimney and found your footing on the roof minutes later, you dusted the soot from your cloak and looked around.
There were no guards on the sloped roof so you crept forward, moving as quickly and silently as you could across the tiles and to one of the tall towers near the outward edge of the castle.
As you climbed down the ivy and landed on the ground, the tower door swung open and you nearly ran right into Sheriff Klein. He gasped but you clapped a hand over his mouth, your other hand finding your knife in it’s sheath.
“Shh. It’s me,” you hissed, glancing around. Klein nodded, his eyes wide.
“Stay quiet,” you murmured, pulling your hand from his mouth slowly.
“How did you escape?” he hissed, glancing around and checking to see if you were followed by any guards.
“That’s not important. I need you to get me outside of the walls. You owe me, Klein,” you whispered, pointing at the hitched prison wagon that waited just beyond the shadow of the castle. He sighed.
“Where are you going?” he asked.
“To save my family.”
—
Sheriff Klein stopped the wagon in the trees not far outside of the city and unlocked the back, tugging the iron door open and offering his hand to help you out. You wrapped your arms around him and hugged him tightly.
“Thank you, sir. I believe we’re even,” you said, pulling back and offering him a smile. He returned it.
“Come back to us when this is all over. I could use a woman resourceful as you helping me keep the city safe,” he said, unhitching one of the horses from the wagon and offering you his reins.
And then you were off, riding bareback with only your bow and the knife on your belt, heading for home.
—
Several days of riding took you through the carnage of war and past burnt-out villages and farms, their survivors hardly sparing you a glance as you headed deeper for the grassy plains of your homeland. As you rode, you passed the thicket where you and König had spent your first nights together, where he had slain the wolf and saved your life.
Soldiers passed you occasionally but none seemed to recognize you as you blurred past them on your horse. As night fell on the day you reached the outskirts of your home, you set up camp, hitching your horse to a tree and building a small fire. You’d hunted a rabbit and ate the leftover meat for dinner and laid out on a bedroll you’d taken from a dead soldier as the fire died out slowly. The woods were quiet when it happened.
König pounced on you from out of the darkness, terrifying your horse and sending it kicking and tugging until the lead broke and it took off like a shot.
You screamed and thrashed as he pinned you to the ground, forcing your arms above your head as he buried his nose in your neck, inhaling deeply. He slotted his hips between your legs, grinding himself against you roughly as he kissed at your collarbone.
“Oh maus, how exhilarating it has been to chase you across my lands. I have missed you,” he groaned.
“Get off of me you fucking psycho!” you screeched, kicking at him and thrashing in his hold. He drew back as if wounded and you scrambled away from him.
“Maus, have you not missed me? I am sorry for what I have done but–”
“But nothing! You kept me caged like some pet bird! Is that all I was to you? A pet? A decoration? Just a pretty thing to distract you and put down when you get bored?” you shouted, drawing your knife from your belt and thrusting it at his throat.
“Oh, liebling, you are my heart, my reason to live,” König said breathily, gazing up at you from his knees. You were struck by the memory of the first time he’d come into your bedroom and your heart thundered at the thought as you pushed the blade forward.
“Go away. I’m going to go save my family because you clearly aren’t capable,” you hissed, tears starting to flow freely down your cheeks.
“Not capable?” König barked out a laugh, looking taken aback. “I have killed hundreds for you, maus. I near your castle each day. My men rip through the enemy with ease. All of this I do for you, for your honor,” he breathed.
“My honor is my own to forge, and you locked me in that dreadful castle!” you shouted, punctuating your words with wild stabs from your blade. He caught it in an armored hand and took it from you with ease, throwing it aside.
“Maus, I must do what I must to keep you safe,” he said, rising to his feet and taking your hands. You looked deep into his eyes.
“Do you trust me?” you asked.
“Of course, maus.”
“Do you want me to love you?” you breathed. He stiffened, his grip tightening.
“Yes.”
“Then trust me, König.”
—
You rode into the war camp on the back of König’s stallion just as proud as the horse was. König trailed behind you on foot, watching with stars in his eyes as you shouted a greeting to his men, a great cheer splitting the night air as they caught sight of you in your battered, road-weary, armored glory.
As you dismounted in front of the largest tent, Wilhelm came to greet you, a smug look on his face. You froze.
“You madman. You planned this, didn’t you? Riled me up at the castle so I’d break from my chains and ride out on my own?” you asked. He raised his hands and laughed, shaking his head.
“I’d like to apologize, my lady, truly. I was doing only what needed to be done. But in all seriousness…have you never lain with König?” You laughed and smacked him in the chest before you hugged him, shaking your head.
“The poor Sheriff must think so oddly of me now,” you chuckled. Wilhelm quirked an eyebrow.
“He wasn’t in on it, my lady. I figured I’d leave the details up to you.”
You passed into the tent to collapse into a proper bed a moment later, the tent flap falling shut behind you. König approached Wilhelm, watching as you disappeared.
“Does she hate me?” he asked, his gaze unfocused as his mind raced.
“Hard to say. I wouldn’t push your luck though.”
—
König came into the tent a little while after you’d settled into bed and sat down on the end of it, working at the straps of his armor. It was quiet.
“I…I am sorry. What I did was not right,” he said after a moment, setting his armor aside and turning to make eye contact with you.
“Thank you for apologizing,” you said softly, rubbing your eyes and yawning.
“I would like to sleep with you, maus. To embrace you. I will not touch you inappropriately. I…I have missed you,” he admitted. You thought it over, biting your lip and sighing.
“I missed you too, König, but I don’t know. You scared me in the woods…” you admitted, curling up into a ball and shivering. He dipped his head respectfully.
“I trust you, maus. I will sleep outside,” he said, rising and heading for the tent flap. Your heart sank slightly and you surprised yourself by calling out.
“Wait. I changed my mind. Sleep here,” you called out as his hand met the canvas. He paused and turned to you, his eyes wide.
“Anything you wish, maus. I…give me one moment.” He stepped further away from the bed, taking his shirt off and letting it rest over the back of a chair before pausing.
With a deep breath, he took his hood off and let it fall. He ran a hand through his hair and looked up at you, his eyes brimming with worry and uncertainty. You sat up slowly, silent as you took him in. He was beautiful.
—
The next morning you woke up nestled against König’s chest, his strong arms wrapped protectively around you. You watched him sleep for a time, tracing his facial features with your eyes and his scars with your fingertips.
When he stirred and his eyes cracked open, you encouraged him with a gentle kiss on the cheek. Then he was awake and kissing him back, your eyes fluttering shut as he pulled you closer to him. He grasped at your hips and pulled you up so that you could straddle his lap. You could feel his erection throbbing against your core and you groaned softly into the kiss. He slid his hands up your shirt slowly, breaking away from your lips and looking at you with wide eyes.
“Maus, I do not want to make love to you for the first time in this place where my men might hear you,” he cooed, squeezing your breasts gently before his hands dropped back to your hips.
“I wasn’t planning on it. I’m still mad at you,” you murmured teasingly, running your fingers through his hair as you pulled him in for another kiss.
“You are making it difficult to resist you,” he admitted with a laugh, laying you down gently on your back and climbing on top of you. Your lips met again and you slid your hands up his bare chest, teasing at the hem of his trousers before pulling away.
“Consider how difficult it will be to resist me once you’ve proven your love to me and this fighting is over,” you purred, pushing gently against his chest. He backed away from you with a soft groan, watching as you got up and undressed. His breathing got heavier as he watched you dress and he got up, hugging you from behind and nipping at your neck. You laughed and shooed him away before leaving the tent and his view.
—
It was cold outside and the morning was foggy. You armed yourself and headed to the edge of the camp to meet Wilhelm, looking out over the cliff and down upon the city and the castle you’d once called home.
The city seemed deserted - villagers had been imbued with the good sense to flee as König’s armies marched closer. Ferdinand no doubt paced in the castle, plotting his resistance. Little hope was left for him now, and you were determined that he’d be dead by the time the week was over.
You wondered about your sisters, your parents. Were they alive? Were they being cared for? Had your father resisted at all when Ferdinand had seized power?
“You want to sneak in. I can see it in your eyes,” Wilhelm said as you approached, his arms folded across his armored chest.
“I grew up in that castle. I snuck out nearly every night. I know more nooks and crannies and passageways that could lead me inside than even the rats,” you admitted, sitting on a large rock and watching the guards on the walls.
Had any resisted? Were any still loyal to you? You knew these men, their families. Would they kill you on sight or be loyal to your cause?
König approached, his armor clanking as he came to stand beside you and rested a gloved hand on your shoulder, gently guiding you closer to him.
“Would anyone be able to detect you if you went in?” Wilhelm asked. König stiffened but said nothing, he merely rubbed your shoulder gently.
“Not unless I wanted them to detect me. I suspect that once the men can see me I might be able to sway some of them to my side. I think that I can take down Ferdinand from within,” you said.
“I think it’s worth the attempt. It’ll be faster than a full-out siege and do less damage to your castle so there’s less damage to be rebuilt when you take it back. The only danger would be if they were to take you captive,” Wilhelm said cautiously, watching his hooded king for a response.
“They would not kill me, at least, I do not think that they would. If they have my family in there, I have to try to get them back,” you said.
“Maus, will you ride with me?” König cut in, taking your hand and helping you rise. You nodded and shot an apologetic look to Wilhelm as you followed him out of camp and to the area where the horses were kept. He lifted you onto his horse and climbed on behind you and you rode off into the woods.
“If this is what you wish to do, I will not stop you,” he began. You rode together for a little while in silence until you found a little clearing filled with flowers far off the beaten path. He laid out his cape for you and sat down, opening his arms to you.
“I wish that you would not, but you are a capable little maus. You can scurry quietly,” he said with a small smile. “But you must have a plan for when you go in, and you must allow me to charge in with force should anything go wrong.”
“It would be good to have a failsafe,” you admitted, stepping closer to him as he wrapped his arms around you and sat you on one of his massive thighs.
“Then you should go tonight after the sun sets. I will bring men along the sides of the castle and should there be a commotion inside, we will storm it. Where will you go in?” he asked.
“There are some catacombs far beneath the castle that open near the river. I can creep in there and nobody will disturb me. I will be let out into the dungeon, where hopefully I can find my family,” you said.
“I trust you, maus. I love you. You must promise to me that you will come back to me safely,” he murmured. You rested your head against his chest plate and nodded.
“König?” you asked softly after a moment, gazing up at him. He looked down at you curiously, and you slid your hand under his hood, cupping his cheek gently.
“Make love to me.”
—
He was gentle as he helped you out of your armor and laid you on your back, leaning over to kiss you as he fumbled with the straps of his own and let it fall into the grass beside you. He only broke the kiss to tug his shirt and hood off in one motion. You wrapped your legs around his hips as he crawled on top of you, locking your lips together and gently tracing his fingers against the skin under your shirt.
You pulled it off as he reached your breast and leaned down, taking one of your nipples into his mouth as they hardened, caressing and kissing your breasts as he drowned himself in you.
You pushed your hips up to grind your core against his erection with a groan, feeling him grow even harder as he leaned up and kissed your neck, his gentle, teasing touches making you writhe.
He paused to tug his pants down, allowing you to sit up and do the same. You crawled on top of him as he tossed both pairs to the side, straddling him and moaning as he gripped your hips and ground you against his erection, grunting into your ear softly.
You moaned as he bit your neck and sucked at the mark he’d made feverishly, lapping at the bruise with his tongue as it formed. Your core throbbed and pulsed and he laid you back down gently, carefully pulling your panties down your legs and tossing them away.
He pushed your knees apart gently, hunger in his eyes as he gazed upon your core. In an instant he surged forward, kissing up your leg and inner thighs before licking a long stripe up your entrance, making you toss your head back as your back arched, crying out in pleasure.
König grasped you by the hips and pulled you forward, shoving his tongue deep into you and rubbing his nose against your clit. You throbbed against him, your arousal coating his face as he devoured you like a starving man, palming himself through his boxers as he listened to your moans and gasps of pleasure.
“Oh, König!” you cried, your back arching and your toes curling as he kept going, his eyes flickering open to hold your gaze. Your entire body was hot as if his touch was a flame and you shivered as you saw the desire and love in his eyes, feeling your stomach tighten.
König pulled his tongue from you with a groan and gently inserted one of his long, thick fingers. It felt better than anything you’d ever felt before - the sensation was alien and overwhelming, and as he pumped the finger in and out slowly, he brushed against a spot that made you mewl loudly, whimpering as you angled your hips so he might brush against it again.
“Do I make you feel good, maus? Tell me how you feel,” he purred, inserting a second finger and pumping them faster, angling them so they just barely brushed against that spot with each thrust.
“So good! Oh my god!” you cried, gasping for breath as you felt your orgasm building. König leaned down and sucked on your clit slowly, pushing his fingers directly into the spot you wanted him to hit so much.
“Fuck!” you came loudly, crying out, moaning and whimpering and panting as your body spasmed. König gently pulled away from you as you came down, crawling over you, kissing you and wrapping you tightly in his arms. He’d freed himself from his boxers and you glanced down, your eyes widening.
“Are you…are you going to fit inside of me?” you asked in a small voice, heat rushing to your cheeks as you looked up at him. He cooed, kissing your collarbone and running his fingers through your hair.
“We can wait, maus,” he murmured in your ear. The tip of his cock brushed between your folds and bumped against your clit and you gasped, pleasure rushing through your body again.
“No, no, no more waiting,” you gasped, pushing your hips up to meet his. He groaned as he ground his cock against your wetness, eventually guiding the tip into place and pushing in just a little bit.
You cried out as he slid into you slowly, stretching your walls and making your eyes water from pleasure as you adapted to his size, panting softly as you watched him enter you.
“I love you so much, maus,” he moaned, wrapping his arms tightly around you as he bottomed out, staying in place as he wrapped his arms around you, cradling you gently as he kissed you.
You deepened the kiss, wrapping your legs around him gently and holding onto his shoulders, your nails digging into his skin as you adjusted to his size. His first thrust was slow and experimental - he watched your face for any expression other than pleasure as he pulled out slowly and pushed back in.
“Give me more,” you gasped, your eyes rolling back into your head as he took you, bucking your hips up into his thrusts encouragingly.
He buried his face in your neck and moaned, setting an even pace as he thrusted in and out of you, gently cupping one of your breasts in his hand as the other held your hip steady.
“I’m not going to - not going to break!” you cried out, the pleasure overwhelming as you reached down to rub your clit while he fucked you. He looked up at you, his eyes hazy with pleasure and love as he picked up the pace, slamming his hips into yours more roughly and with greater speed.
Morning light burst through the clearing and turned you golden as you made love, the slapping of skin on skin and moans mingling with birdsong echoing through the beautiful clearing.
“I want to make you feel so good, maus,” he growled into your ear as he picked up the pace yet again, kissing you roughly before leaning down and biting your neck to mark you.
“Fuck, you are!” you cried, feeling another orgasm building in your stomach.
“Cum for me, my pretty wife. Tell this forest who loves you, who is making you feel so good,” he growled, biting your breast as his thrusts lost their rhythm and he moved wildly against you.
“König!” you cried as you came, your back arching as your body spasmed, clenching tightly around him. He moaned your name as he came at the same time as you, his last, sloppy thrusts burying his cock deep inside of you as he filled you.
You caught your breath together, embracing and kissing before König slowly pulled out, rolling off of you and pulling you into his side to snuggle. He pulled his cape around your body to shield you as he held you, stroking your hair gently as you rested against his chest.
“I love you, maus,” he whispered as he watched you doze off. You could only mumble something in assent as you drifted to sleep.
