One very common trope in fics I really can't seem to vibe with is Atsushi and Akutagawa becoming full time partners / regularly carrying through missions together. I mean, having very very different work ethics that are wholly irreconcilable except for when absolutely extraordinary circumstances occur is one of the greatest charms of the ship for me! Atsushi and Akutagawa being so different in how they work and how they get the job done is a great appeal of their dynamic; most importantly, it makes the few situations when out of necessity they're pushed to join forces feel all the more special and impactful. I want Atsushi to collaborate with Akutagawa, to wear Rashomon, being an extraordinary and meaningful event and not just another Thursday‚ you know what I mean? I want Atsushi to go home and slide his back against the door, heart going doki doki as he thinks back at it.

Besides, in the end it's just so hard to believe they'd have this many joined missions– the pm is a criminal organization, the ada is a law enforcement organization, how many shared goals can they have? There's only this much “new ability user organization that just landed in Yokohama and that poses a threat for both organizations”. And I feel like something people happen to mistake a lot is that truce isn't equivalent to regular collaboration. Like, not even close. Now that I think about it, I suppose there's also a component to it in the fact that it bugs me to think of Akutagawa working in collaboration with the ada- that is, working under Dazai again, as the picture is most commonly depicted. That man needs to be free, c'mon, let him be. Give him a break. Same goes for Atsushi, like, there's a point about him of being repulsed by Akutagawa just because he's mafia and he kills people. I don't think he'd be that willing to collaborate with the pm (as much as he loves Akutagawa. and he does), and honestly I don't think the ada would ask it of him that often, either, unless the world is literally about to end like what happens in the manga. If the ada really had to mingle with the pm, they'd probably ask Dazai, for a lot of reasons spanning from him knowing the pm intimately to him being their most cunning - and thus hard to deceive - agent.

His life is never quiet - from the constant whirring and clanking of his patched-together ship, the metallic clink of his own body's movements, and the frequent accompaniment of gunfire, there is rarely a moment of silence - but it is cold. The burst of noise that heralds the Knight's presence may be nothing new to this lonesome Ranger, but the warmth that fills the space around him is still something entirely foreign to him. And he yearns for it when it is absent.

The declaration is met with a mere nod of the head, a tip of the hat. But there is a toothy grin already forming on Boothill's face as he takes in every word, as a single eye drinks in each vibrant shift of Argenti's expression. There is so much life within him, so much passion, that he cannot help but savour every moment he gets to share in it with him.

You and your noble deeds. He doesn't try to interject and correct him - already he has learned there is little point. Regardless of what he says, Argenti will find some small detail to latch onto that proves his words, some means of uplifting his actions to the heights that the Knight truly, honestly, holds them to. It is like arguing with a brick wall, albeit a handsome, if slightly dramatic, brick wall.

A brow raises at the mention of a melody, that single eye widening as Argenti does indeed produce a musical instrument he had not known he carried, and if his heart was capable of skipping a beat it might have at the idea that this man - this beautiful, noble, good man - thought he was worthy of a song.

His expression softens, warms. He is touched, honoured, and eager to hear this melody composed by hands that have only ever held him like a person rather than a weapon. Surely, he thinks, this Knight of Beauty can create only the most beautiful of sounds-

Well, he did warn you. The... execution of the song leaves much to be desired, the notes not quite hitting right, a few even going so far as to make him wince, but despite it all, he can appreciate the thought behind it, and he can somewhat understand the vision. And, as painful as it might have been to listen to, it doesn't diminish the meaning it holds for him.

"Well, Red, that's uh... quite the piece." An easy grin settles upon his face, his gaze still soft and warm as he steps up to the Knight. His hands catch Argenti's wrists, holds them in a grasp that is gentle, tender almost. "It warms this tin chest o' mine to think of you composin' something for me. An' it's beautiful."

His head cants to the side, a hint of amusement creeping into his expression. "Maybe you an' I can do a little music practice while you're here, eh? I'm sure I got that guitar around here somewhere..."
