I vaguely recall the M Trio fic Miracu-Class speculating when Nino & Alya started being chill with Chloe some kind of Count of Monte Cristo business was going down and having just found this AMV, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBfbr00U8T0 I was reminded of that and had to share XD

Speaking of, how does Mari respond to them chilling in regards to Chloe? I think I've asked before, but am sleepy XD

I can't remember exactly what the Count of Monte Cristo thing was re: Miraculous Trio? Though honestly the class assuming they're working together because of some similar goals makes sense.

As for Mari like. She's very conflicted.

Because ofc it's Mari. I love her very much, but between her very black/white mentality and general stubbornness, it takes time for her to come around without having some big punch in the face moment (not- not literally. She doesn't deserve to be punched. But something big and obvious like Audrey)

But at the same time.

She knows Nino well enough to know he wouldn't just 'be chill' with Chloé unless something happenned. And while Alya is a newer friend, she has already demonstrated her own feelings on not tolerating Chloé's bullying. So Marinette can't imagine them suddenly being cool with the shitty things that Chloé does.

So she asks questions and observes. Alya and Nino making up half-truths. "oh since Alya's mom works at the hotel, the family gets access passes to facilities and she's run into Chloé often enough in that context they got to talking'. Alya and Nino insisting that while Chloé has problems, clearly, she's not evil.

Seeing them interact. Friendly banter rather than insults. Laughing together. And, when Chloé does say something rude, the other two are quick to both call her out on it and redirect.

She's not sure what's happening, but it.... seems okay

I know I'm never gonna actually gonna write my Miraculous Ladybug/Count of Monte Cristo AU, for which I have a whole outline somewhere (short story: Lila lies to the major, so Marinette gets arrested, put into secret jail for 14 years, escapes, buys an Italian island and returns as a Countess hell-bent on revenge. Because most salt stories are just so boring in their stakes and retaliation). But there are so many more classic crossovers that absolutely should exist. I suggest a crossover with Les Miserables, where Marinette has the role of Jean Valjean, Chloé is Javert, and Adrien is probably Cosette.

If you could adapt any of your fics into film (either live action or animated) which would be?

Good question. As someone that sees stories visually in my mind, it is hard to choose just one.

But if I had to limit it down to like three of them, I would say these for different reasons:

Miraculous Count of Monte Cristo - The OG fic that got me started writing. Sure I have dabbled, but this one, is my start. I want to complete it but this one definitely I would love to see as I would love to see the interactions, the heart breaks, the intrigues of the characters, and just the see how it would look on the big screen. This project is something I want to achieve - even if Second act syndrome is freaking strong with it - but it would be a dream come true for me.

You Came. You Call. would be next for me. This fic has allowed me to meet amazing people and have great interactions with people that like my work. And has kept me going for the most part with writing. Also visually, I have a huge fight scene that will come into play later that I would love to see on the big screen for sure.

Lastly: Red Shoes and the Seven Dwarfs Series - This one I actually had a lot of fun visualizing and staging before I got into the other fic that have been consuming my time. But it is to give love to a movie that surprised me and made me wish there was more of it. Definitely a cute movie with an admiringly cute prince that is freaking cool to watch fight wise, and would love to see him in action and just the sweet romance between them that we could have had more of it time permitted.

funniest part of count of monte cristo by far (except for the runaway lesbians) is that dantés like gets his magical girl, super smart super scary, glow up in prison after spending the first two decades of his life as the sweetest most innocent dumb little dude (because his preist friend miraculously taught him italian and 2 other languages w/perfect fluency in 18 months???) but hes still so fucking dumb. and over the top. and ridiculous. but even though he makes all these super dumb decisions they all work out perfectly for him anyway. cuz he’s dumas’ special little boy. and like mad respect to dumas for that honestly. thats his boy. and hes getting a beautiful consistent, well-considered arc despite sowing his seeds of destruction everywhere he goes. 🙏🏻🙏🏻 bless him.

The Miraculous Count of Monte Cristo

Consider the following if you will

Marinette is a sailor on a ship run by the Bourgeois family. She is in love with the handsome son of a local viscount, the catch of the county Adrien Agreste.

The first mate of the ship is Lila Rossi, an Italian girl who leaves the actual duties of her rank to Marinette while she spins fantastical stories. She loves Adrien, but his total devotion to Marinette makes it impossible for her to make a pass at him.

Marinette returns from months at sea to tell M. Bourgeois of the death of their captain, Celine Bustier. Lila tries to persuade their boss to make her captain, but he promotes Marinette to the position.

Furious, Lila enlists Chloe Bourgeois in her plot against Marinette. Chloe is Adrien's long time friend and cant stand to see him doting on a low class sailor like Marinette. She doesnt care for Lila, but she wants her friend to act like his rank should.

Marinette tells Adrien about her promotion, and he proposes to her. They happily eat in the Dupain-Cheng home while the two enthuse about their wedding.

But hark! The city guard comes and arrests Marinette for high treason! She's taken away to Alya Cesaire, the judge of the county.

Marinette begs for mercy, and Alya is prepared to give it. But the accusation states there's a letter in Marinette's possession. The bluenette has no clue about this, but sure enough a letter from the emporer to an "Anansi" is found in her coat.

Horrified, Alya orders Marinette be locked away in the Chateau d'If.

For 8 years, Marinette lives in solitary confinement, with only the guards to keep her company.

In her despair, she cries out to whatever gods will listen. She begs for freedom, and consequently meets Master Wang Fu, a fellow prisoner.

He tells her of a wonderful secret, a treasure unlike any other. Magic jewels hidden in a cave of gold and silver and all manner of material wealth. If Marinette helps him escape, he'll give it all to her.

He tells her the story of his life, how he was picked to become a guardian and has lived for almost 200 years as the last of his people. Napoleon heard of these magic jewels and demanded he turn them over. When he refused, they locked him away. He's been trying to escape ever since to recover what he hid.

Marinette has heard stories of equal measure from Lila, so she doesn't 100% pay into it, but she likes Master Fu and she likes his company so she listens.

He teaches her everything he was taught in the monastery, and what he learned once he left. Fighting, mathematics, astronomy, politics, social standards, languages, the whole shebang.

Just as they begin to reach freedom, Master Fu suffers a heart attack and can't continue. He gives Marinette a map to his treasures on the isle of Monte Cristo and declares her the next guardian of the Miracle Box. He dies shortly after.

Marinette escapes the Chateau d'If and is rescued by Sicilian pirates. She joins their crew and for the next 14 months travels with them.

She and Luka, a pirate who chooses to stay with her after she breaks away, go to the Isle of Monte Cristo and recover the mountains of gold and the Miracle Box.

Marinette knows she should focus on keeping these safe, but she wants revenge on Lila Rossi, Chloe Bourgeois, and Alya Cesaire. And she knows just how to get it.

I'm a big fan of The Count Of Monte Cristo musical and when I realized how well "When the World Was Mine" fit Marinette in @buggachat 's amazing Bakery Enemies au I JUMPED to getting down my ideas for an animatic. (Despite needing to work on a different wip...)

I have no idea if I'll ever finish it but I'm making this so that at least I get the idea out there and maybe this'll motivate me to finish it later.

Here’s a fun commission I did for a Count of Monte Cristo ML AU.

Similar to the original story, in this AU, Adrien was framed for a crime he didn’t commit and sent to the horrible island prison of Chateau D’If. Separated from his loved ones, lonely, and mercilessly tortured for years, he eventually manages to escape. With a massive fortune that he finds thanks to a friend/mentor he met in prison, he returns home under a pseudonym to exact revenge on those who wronged him. His beloved Marinette was told that he was dead, and was forced by circumstance to marry another man.

In this picture, I tried to depict the moment where Marinette thinks she recognizes the mysterious Count. It looks like Adrien; but his eyes are weary, lifeless, and cold. Is this man even capable of loving anyone? Plus, she received a letter informing them of Adrien’s death years ago. There’s no way this could be him... Right?

(I really love the original Count of Monte Cristo story, can you tell?) XD
