#14 - What if Minecraft had Giraffes? (We back, new art blog new me, please give me a follow!!!)
This is an animal I've ALWAYS wanted in Minecraft, for one simple reason - they huge! Giraffes would be found living in Savanna biomes exclusively, going from tree to tree munching on their beautiful leaves. In addition, a single Giraffe will spawn in every Savanna village, similarly to Camels in Desert Villages or Yaks in Snowy Villages.
Giraffes are Neutral Mobs, and are not to be messed with! A single kick from these babies not only packs a punch, but can send you flying with very strong knockback! Luckily, they're more than happy to hang out with any players, craning their necks down to any players holding some fresh Acacia Leaves for them to chomp on. If you're lucky, you'll see a Baby Giraffe toddle behind them, cute as can be (but still taller than the player!)
Giraffes can sometimes fight each other, clacking their necks together in a majestic display. This does not actually weaken their hit points, but a winner will emerge victorious and the loser will walk away, not to step foot near that giraffe for at least another 2 hours. The winning Giraffe, meanwhile, will be weakened from the battle, and will have a hard time winning more neck fights until it recoups its strength. I'm sure the enterprising player could make some kind of fun out of giraffe fighting tournaments! Just.. don't try that in real life :3
Ultimately, the main goal of Giraffes is not to be 'useful', it's to be cute! I mean come on, who WOULDN'T want to go into the savanna biome and see a herd of Giraffes walking by, knowing you walk in the presence of giants?

If I was a minecraft mob(this is really cringe tbh and just a mish mash of mechanics that I thought of that as a whole would be too overpowered/complicated for an actual mob ingame im well aware):
•visually really similar to the endermen but white eyes, would at first get mistaken for herobrine alot lol. Maybe even they could take on the appearance of certain mobs, just completely blacked out sole for the white eyes. Im leaning towards foxes or humanoid/ish
•wouldn’t really attack unless provoked
•attack would mostly be like most mobs ie close range fucking. Smacking or something idk. If this isn’t too OP already then maybe summoning dark spikes from the ground kinda like the things Evokers summon, probably only on low health
•Would only be able to stay in shadows, and not just the sun. Actually wouldn’t be damaged by light at all, just wouldn’t be able to cross into light levels above a certain value. Would literally get stopped like there was a wall, and the ground attacks also wouldn’t appear anywhere above certain light levels.
•the main mechanic(already similar to some mobs im well aware) would be that it would like, steal random items, with the exclusion of weapons. Would be able to steal anything in the player’s hotbar by getting close enough to touch the player, prioritising rarest items. Basically a sort of hoarder of trinkets. Would only steal one of said items at a time btw for stackables.
•these items could be gained back by dealing damage. Obviously this would provoke and cause it to attack/deal damage, but it would actually attempt to flee, only attacking either from a distance via ground attack or dealing damage when within close proximity.

Had a dream about a cool idea for a minecraft mob.
Pirate
It's like a wandering villager where it spawns randomly but only on coasts(like 20% of the time of its spawn rate) or on a boat in specific oceans(80% of the time of its spawn rate).
It has a chance of spawning in with a gold sword but ony attacks if you attack first.
What it does is if you're within 15 block of it, it will chase after you and when it's within one block of you it puts its sword away and takes what's ever in your hand to replace it. Whatever you're holding it just YOINKs. You can get it back but you need to kill it and if you attack you can't trade its few trades it has(im not too sure on how the trades should go but this is what dream brain came up with).
If you have gold ingots it will trade gunpowder(1 thing/ingot, up to 30), tnt(2 ingots/block, up to 4 blocks), spyglass(5 ingots), 5 cooked fish, bucket of tropical fish/axolotl/puffer(1 bucket/3 ingots), compass or clock/3 ingots, and/or a map for shipwrecks, monuments or ruins.
ALSO FOR THE MAPS! A new map type would be released. A new type of buried treasure, one that spawns rarer than regular ones and it has good items like a regular one but also has a Conduit and some sponge. Idk if anything else should be in it that would make it worth it I'm up for ideas on all of this.
They have a chance of spawning with a parrot in their boat with them ofmr if on land it's on a lead. If they are in a boat they can't get out of it and only can row a few block around once in a while, but if ur near them they BOOK IT right to you. If you're in a boat they may transfer to your boat which can be sneaky cus if you don't see them and they do this your held item just seems to dissapear lol. Like "woops must have dropped it" but you can't see it floating anywhere then you get out and there's just a guy behind you holding your thing. If it's a stackable item he can only take 1 every several seconds(kinda like how a piglin examines in bartering except they just take your stuff). If you're not holding anything they just hover uncomfortably close until you grab something for them to take it.
That's all I remember from the dream but I think it would be a cool mob. Spawns a little less than a wandering villager, and only in specific areas. Has some cool new trades and would open up possibilities for a new treasure chest spawn.

DO YOU DARE LEARN HIS TRUE NATURE?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But what about this steel wool stuff?
Tumblr media
it's primary purpose is to be smelted into iron ingots. If you have sheepers, you have an iron farm.
Tumblr media
Steel wool blocks can act as a fuse to light things on fire and activate tnt.
Tumblr media
Steel wool is abrasive and will scrape copper and polish stone if one is moved along the other by a piston. It will also hurt entities if they brush against it too hard.

Gotta love this blocky life
Just wanted to share some more Herobrine blurbs. This funky little dude just won’t get out of my head. Don’t mind the scratchiness, was in the mood to make something rough and just drop it off here.
I’m basing some of these ideas off the From the Fog mod, mainly the tamed wolves growling at Herobrine when he’s stalking the player, and how everything else ignores him. Herobrine being able to trade with Villagers is my own thing tho, as well as cats liking him.
I also have this idea that when Hero teleports around and shit, either bc of boredom or bc he has specific places around the World that are important or interesting to him, he makes the chances of a Zombie Siege much higher than normal. Like, if the normal chance of a Siege happening is 10% a week, then him teleporting from a Village or near one bumps it up to a 30% chance. The more he teleports to and from an area, the higher it rises, until it’s a guarantee that a Siege will occur that night in that Village. It’s caused some… issues during his existence when trying to socialize.
To make friends.
Not many Villagers know that Herobrine has something to do with more Sieges occuring to Villages, but those who survive and find their way to a new Village to recover? They remember him showing up, messing around and pulling pranks, before vanishing without a trace. To a Villager, Herobrine is an outsider, a traveler with no place to call his own. And his appearance and subsequent disappearance, and a Zombie Siege happening shortly after? Many begin to see Herobrine as a dark omen, bad luck, a Bringer of Death in a way. The survivors travel, and so does word of a strange man in bright clothes, with white, glowing eyes and odd behaviors. Who shows up to cause mischief, only to lead death to their doorsteps.
Hero doesn’t mean for these things to happen. Doesn’t even realize he’s the one causing them. He’s not Mortal, he’s not Human. His understanding of passive and hostile Mobs is heavily skewed bc most ignore him. He believes the Villagers he’s pranked and traded with are safe and sound (as much as they can be with Pillagers skulking around), and he’s just bringing some harmless fun to these grouchy, tired, overly stressed people. He didn’t know…..
If he comes across a Village who has survivors from Sieges he’s accidentally caused, and is seen by them, he’s run out of the Village. With fire and blade and pitchfork, sometimes an Iron Golem or two if the Village is wealthy/large enough to afford some. Since he doesn’t interact with Humans much, he’ll panic and run. Why are they being so mean? What did I do?
I just wanted to play…
Anywho, hope y’all enjoy this little mess. I’ve got more shit to work on, so hopefully that’ll be out eventually.
Toodles~!

So I figured it’s about time I cover the Creaking and my personal theories about it. Its kinda randomly organised and some of it might be a stretch, but this is creativity game so idc here’s what I think,
I believe that the Creaking is a type of Golem mob, perhaps an early concept.
Basically, this hinges on the fact that we can see Illagers and Ravagers run away from the Creaking the moment they’re in close proximity, possibly meaning there’s some kind of history or relation between them.
I think that, in the early days of the world of Minecraft, the civilisation that would become what we know now as Villagers used to live within the Pale Garden biome, perhaps building structures that were lost to time. It makes sense, it’s a quiet part of the world, the lack of passive mobs could possibly imply that it’s a completely lifeless forest, leading threats such as Illagers to avoid it, as they’d have nothing to gain.
Of course, there are still threats in the Pale Garden when the night comes in, so the Villagers designed a golem, something practically invulnerable to all damage that could protect them from the monsters of the night, this of course is what would later become the Creaking. In my own design if the Creaking, I draw it with a hole in its chest, I believe this is because when they were designed, the heart was exposed in case of maintenance or repairs needed, it could be easily removed or swapped if necessary.
Nothing is safe forever though. Eventually, the Illagers would find out about these hidden homes, perhaps because of groups of Pillager scouts. They’d attack over and over, eventually forcing the Villagers to flee from the Pale Gardens, but during the searching of their homes, the Illagers would encounter the defenders that had been constructed. Almost three metre tall golems, invincible to most of their efforts, they stood no chance, eventually having to escape with only the tale to tell.
Over time, the Creaking would learn to camouflage with their surroundings, blending in with the trees and hiding their hearts amongst them for protection, now left to wander in the dead of night through silent forests, still guarding a civilisation long lost. Rather than disappearing in daytime, I believe that they become one with the trees, or at least shape themselves to appear as one of them.
In general, I think it’s a good idea to use the Creaking as a guardian, they’re immune to fall damage, they can’t drown, immune to lava and all direct attacks, just that physically, they might be a bit weak, so they come in numbers in the forests.
Their descendants, Iron Golems. Immune to fall damage, can’t drown, it’s just that the trade off is less lava and attack immunity, instead making them stronger and only needing to come as a singular guard to each village.
Best guess as to why it attacked the villagers in that one Villager news thingy could be that it’s been generations and they may have forgotten, or maybe that the villagers developing over time may not completely resemble what the Creaking remember.
I know it’s a bit of a stretch based of very limited information about them, but that’s my theory on what the Creaking are and why they exist in the world, I’m open to other ideas or corrections of course, but yeah, I hope y’all enjoy !! Do with that what you will !!

Mobs i think should be added to MINECRAFT!!!
i am brimming with ideas and love for the game!! i think these things would be sick!!
MORE AMBIENT MOBS!!!
My first idea is SONGBIRDS! when u are building at a certain high elevation, birds have a chance of spawning and flitting around ur build!! unlike parrots, u cannot tame them. when u kill them they dont drop anything, just xp, just like bats. im thinking they would all be a generic gray or brown, like a mockingbird or starling. they make simple one note chirp sounds once in a while, not enough to get annoying. if u have an untamed cat or ocelelot near them, it will kill them. if u have a tamed cat in the general area they wont spawn/come near the same way creepers run from cats. that way people who dont want birds on their mountain build can keep them away easily ^_^
this one is probably more controversial because TONS of people are scared of mice buttt.... MICE! they should be REALLY cute and super small and should spawn in places with a bunch of chests and in wheat fields!! like bats, they don't do anything, just add a little something to the game. they dont drop anything when killed and dont make any noises. if u have an untamed cat/ocelot/parrot near one, it will kill it, but a tamed cat or parrot will scare them off. that gives people further reason to get a kitty cat for their storage system so a creeper doesnt blow it up! or like, a parrot alarm system, i guess.
FIREFLIES! im so devastated fireflies got scrapped from the game. if mojang was so concerned about them being poisonous to some frogs, they should have just scrapped whole 'frog eating them' thing instead. im not sure if this was something that was gonna be implemented, or i saw it somewhere, or i just made it up but fireflies that can be captured in jars to transport them the same way fish can be captured in buckets!! MAYBE if we are being CRAZY here holding a firefly in a bottle in ur off hand will omit a light source without having to place it. because i know people have been asking for that forever.
for all of the ambient mobs, there would be a cap for how many could spawn in a chunk or general area so they dont become a huge pest!!! im thinking something small like 2-5 but idk whats reasonable because im not a coder!!
MORE "SCARY" ANIMALS!! (MORE NEUTRAL MOBS)
most of the mobs we have with real life counterparts are the ones towards the bottom of the food chain. out of 34 mobs that also exist irl, only 2 of them (wolves and polar bears) are apex predators! theres so many awesome animals we are missing out on. i want more neutral mobs instead of passive ones!!!! some animals i would love to see are...
lions! put them in a savanna!! have them drop bones around the same way cats bring you stuff to your bed when you sleep. if you live in a place with lions, they will leave around drops like meat or leather and will kill hostile mobs at night, keeping you safer. BUT! you have to keep a distance!! if you hit one or make eye contact with it like an enderman, it will turn hostile!! have them attack your livestock if its not properly fenced in, as well! if you kill them, they drop mutton or something else sad to discourage you from doing so.
sharks!! we got dolphins!! give us sharks!! they are rare and solitary, but they kill drowned so keeping them around is helpful!!! honestly, i wouldnt mind if these guys were completely passive. i LAUV sharks!! have them spawn in deeper waters than dolphins do or near monuments/shipwrecks like they are 'protecting' it!! maybe they give u a water breathing boost/make ur bubbles go down slower if ur near them.
bears!! we have polar bears and pandas, i want black bears!! let them eat berries from bushes and be silly!!! have them spawn in taigas!!! im just being wild here but MAYBE they can also live in caves near the surface and eat glowberries!!! CAVEBEARS MAN. IDK!! BEARS ARE CUTE AND I WANT A HOLY TRINITY OF MINECRAFT BEARS SO BAD.
am i right or am i RIGHT? these would rule and i never miss.

thought it'd be fun to design some other spinny elemental guys to go along with the blaze and breeze! so here are the brine and boulder.
brine rods can be used to shoot out streams of water, or to upgrade conduits to a wider range.
boulder rods can be used to remove chunks of stone and dirt, similar to a creeper explosion.
