the concept of a respawn anchor is so funny. in the Overworld, when you're struck and fall, you wake up in your bed, tucked into the covers with a pillow behind your head. "it's okay," the universe says, for it is kind, "you can try again. rest until you're ready."

the respawn anchor drags your dead and burning body through the hellscape you've sent it to and stabs it through with lightning until you're up and feeling considerably worse than how you did at death. the box will spark and hiss and scream at you to feed it again, or you won't be making it back the next time you're pitched into molten lava.

"i am kind," the universe says. "so i provided you with a world that you could've easily chosen to remain in. player, you cannot sleep here. you forfeited your right to a bed by leaving the confines of my great kindness. if all that you seek is within you, you can do without me."

All signs point to the Nether being full of things with life/vitality giving properties.

Gold is used for golden apples, and glistening melons which are used to create instant health potions.

Blaze powder is required for brewing, and is used for strength potions. It is also used to open the end portal.

Ghast tears are used for regeneration potions, and ender crystals that heal the Ender Dragon. It is also used to craft dried ghasts.

The Wither drops nether stars which are used in beacons. Even when the Wither kills something, it creates life in wither roses.

And then there’s the whole thing with soul sand and soul energy. (Especially if you consider Minecraft Dungeons canon)

Fire (and heat) itself is commonly associated with health, vitality, and power.

This leads to the question of “If there is so much ‘life energy’ in the Nether, *what’s the deal with all the skeletons*?”

Minecraft Blaze

And a Ghast and Enderman!

Several years ago I had a Minecraft world where I moved into this village and went about terraforming the area. The funny thing was that there was this enderman that just. Would not. Leave.

And so they just became my buddy and I started thinking about a story for him. He became the village terror and they were trying to get him to leave. A human character would come along after waking up in a field and be taken in by the village. They would eventually catch the enderman only to realize that there was something irritating it to make it behave oddly. Eventually they’d become friends and the terror would become protector.

There’s much more to the story that I added after a dream about a kingdom, but I’ll explain that part with my other drawings.

Golems And Summons

The constructs of all dimensions.

Golem: "a construct made with soul source."

Golems are made of a small source of soul and constructed in a physical body of varying material. Being embued with soul, the golem in question is given the ability to think, to feel.

The more soul a golem is given, the more it's able to communicate, adapt, and thrive. for example if a golem is not given enough soul source, it will act akin to a child, while a golem with a high amount of soul source, it will be connected to the soul it imbues, taking on traits and even a voice if it lives long enough.

On unfortunate but bittersweet circumstances, a golem may lose it's creator, but will grow and in turn embody the creator in personality. and may even take on a nomadic life, living as another being in the according dimension. it will make a name, a life, find love, but will never die. it cannot die, for it is not alive to begin with.

Beings of Unlimited Power but Limited Choices.

Such beings are a marvel to see in the wild, like an bluff or a breeze, but to see a summon appear infront of your eyes can be a whole new form of experience. depending on the element you wish for your summon to embody, it will await one command, and it will never stray of it's path.

Allays are one of the only summons that have no known creator, ledgend says that they were made by the hosts themselves, to inspire and give hope to all who see their visage. Though in a mysterious form of spite, the spell that the Umevande made was to go against the very nature of the allay, becoming a vessel of discord and destruction known as a Vex.

Vexes and Allays are tricky in nature, but one seeks to do more harm then good.. on the behalf of the vex's summoner.

The remnants of the ancient builder’s nether colonization efforts a thousand years before, these ancient constructs have been corroded and rusted with time. Regardless, they still retain their fiery aggression to trespassers that they were programmed with.

Who are we, the player, to say that the nether is unfit for life? Who are we to look into the roiling fire and infinite redness, to name it hell? Who do we think we are? It wasn't meant for us. We got here by passage of magic, to a world we weren't built to live in, weren't created to survive.

We look upon the creatures we see and call them vile. We gaze across the land and call it dangerous. Everything, everywhere, can hurt us, so by nature, the nether must be evil... right?

Before you came, the striders carry their children on their backs. The wither skeleton stand guard of their own fortresses. The ghast waft about their own sky. But they know you are different. They know you are Wrong, and your Wrongness leads you to tear what they know apart, and when they fight it's only fit that you see them as evil.

The nether is hell. But it is only hell for us.

The lightning blaze variant you made looks really cool!! Angry little guy. Would you be able to show us the water and earth ones you mentioned in the tags if that is okay?

bit of loose concept lore I came up with whilst doodling this:

used to be breezes guarding trial chambers

used to be fully organic before someone went and killed them all

went to hell because they're breezes

most of them were scarred so fortress builders fixed them up with loose armour and stuff

the rods actually release the smoke built up within the blaze after charging up so that's why they're there

adapted to the environment so different nether biomes have different kinds of blazes

like a cyborg kinda

now are blazes guarding the nether fortresses and HATES HATES LET ME TELL YOU HOW MUCH I HAVE COME TO HATE the player because one killed them

this explains the slight difference in mechanics of the two separate mobs as blazes are more aggressive and up front whereas breezes dodge and weave
