Luffy’s Parental figure — ACE!
Who raised Luffy and co-parented him with Sabo.
He's the guy who actually did the teenage boom and baby Luffy. Who was really the only one to be an adult to his brother for seven years. Who raised this little bugger and was there for him through hard training and after hard illnesses as well.
Ace who's an explosive head in his own right, but still cool-headed in the most precise moments of danger.
Who knows how to make chicken soup and other kinds of soups from nutritious foods because Luffy couldn't chew and swallow like normal when he was sick.
Who in the field knows how to pick out what's edible, what's poison and what's medicine, because you learn that quickly in the jungle.
Who really with bare hands will be able to build a place for a night's lodging, to make food or water and to make a trap for safety or for fresh game.
He's a man who smiles at his little bro when he's in sight and who really shows a lot of affection and attitude through touch, because Luffy always needed physical affirmation of love and gosh that kid was very touchy-feely baby.
His life centered around his little brother, who needed to be raised, preserved, and made strong.
Teenage angst and mood swings had passed him by(so nothing unusual), because Ace was already an emotional wreck, but having Luffy around was actually a good catalyzer.
Also life amidst the trash and scum had taught him very well what to avoid, i.e. roughhousing, rapes, murders, overdose deaths, the horrors that slums can hold, especially the nooks and crannies where Ace and Sabo used to sneak around.
According to one particular scene that Luffy had somehow stumbled upon (and he had witnessed the brutality and the corpses privately, but he had never seen the bodies of dead children and girls before )
Luffy had hysteria so intense that he passed out.
After that accident Ace and Sabo decided only to walk in the more lighted and more open area if necessity would lead them to the slums.
In general, Ace isn't used to violence and direct threats, although in some cases Ace remains painfully innocent and naive, especially when it comes to himself. ( unless it involves Roger, the Pirate King )
Because of the fact that Thatch almost cut to pieces a lost in life and specifically in that bar amigo who ran into Portgas and began, in Thatch's opinion, to spread his hands.
And if Ace at first reacted friendly enough on approaching of the future corpse by thinking that maybe it was one of his brothers or inhabitants of the protected area, but when the man had crossed the line with a couple of words, he was carefully folded in unconsciousness by the bar wall.
Honestly, I just want more and more of Ace's side as the man who raised a hyperactive ball of joy. And specifically the aspect of home life, which most often of course manifested itself during meals.
For example, some dishes that for example made pirates complain due to scarcity or flavor (e.g. tomato soup/onion soup, any other specific fruit/vegetable) or the beverage (compote/juice/tea of unfamiliar pickings, etc.) of specific fruits or vegetables to be consumed based on shipboard life.
So imagine the surprise of the Marco when most of the pirates booed about the nastiness of the same grated drink with greens (or search for what foods should be consumed when living on the sea and when living in the jungle) and Ace was the most calm and even nostalgic.
Because he'd made a similar thing for his little brother himself.

There are people – some in my own Party – who think that if you just give Donald Trump everything he wants, he’ll make an exception and spare you some of the harm. I’ll ignore the moral abdication of that position for just a second to say — almost none of those people have the experience with this President that I do. I once swallowed my pride to offer him what he values most — public praise on the Sunday news shows — in return for ventilators and N95 masks during the worst of the pandemic. We made a deal. And it turns out his promises were as broken as the BIPAP machines he sent us instead of ventilators. Going along to get along does not work – just ask the Trump-fearing red state Governors who are dealing with the same cuts that we are. I won’t be fooled twice.
I’ve been reflecting, these past four weeks, on two important parts of my life: my work helping to build the Illinois Holocaust Museum and the two times I’ve had the privilege of reciting the oath of office for Illinois Governor.
As some of you know, Skokie, Illinois once had one of the largest populations of Holocaust survivors anywhere in the world. In 1978, Nazis decided they wanted to march there.
The leaders of that march knew that the images of Swastika clad young men goose stepping down a peaceful suburban street would terrorize the local Jewish population – so many of whom had never recovered from their time in German concentration camps.
The prospect of that march sparked a legal fight that went all the way to the Supreme Court. It was a Jewish lawyer from the ACLU who argued the case for the Nazis – contending that even the most hateful of speech was protected under the first amendment.
As an American and a Jew, I find it difficult to resolve my feelings around that Supreme Court case – but I am grateful that the prospect of Nazis marching in their streets spurred the survivors and other Skokie residents to act. They joined together to form the Holocaust Memorial Foundation and built the first Illinois Holocaust Museum in a storefront in 1981 – a small but important forerunner to the one I helped build thirty years later.
I do not invoke the specter of Nazis lightly. But I know the history intimately — and have spent more time than probably anyone in this room with people who survived the Holocaust. Here’s what I’ve learned – the root that tears apart your house’s foundation begins as a seed – a seed of distrust and hate and blame.
The seed that grew into a dictatorship in Europe a lifetime ago didn’t arrive overnight. It started with everyday Germans mad about inflation and looking for someone to blame.
I’m watching with a foreboding dread what is happening in our country right now. A president who watches a plane go down in the Potomac – and suggests — without facts or findings — that a diversity hire is responsible for the crash. Or the Missouri Attorney General who just sued Starbucks – arguing that consumers pay higher prices for their coffee because the baristas are too “female” and “nonwhite.” The authoritarian playbook is laid bare here: They point to a group of people who don’t look like you and tell you to blame them for your problems.
I just have one question: What comes next? After we’ve discriminated against, deported or disparaged all the immigrants and the gay and lesbian and transgender people, the developmentally disabled, the women and the minorities – once we’ve ostracized our neighbors and betrayed our friends – After that, when the problems we started with are still there staring us in the face – what comes next.
All the atrocities of human history lurk in the answer to that question. And if we don’t want to repeat history – then for God’s sake in this moment we better be strong enough to learn from it.
I swore the following oath on Abraham Lincoln’s Bible: “I do solemnly swear that I will support the constitution of the United States, and the constitution of the state of Illinois, and that I will faithfully discharge the duties of the office of Governor .... according to the best of my ability.
My oath is to the Constitution of our state and of our country. We don’t have kings in America – and I don’t intend to bend the knee to one. I am not speaking up in service to my ambitions — but in deference to my obligations.
If you think I’m overreacting and sounding the alarm too soon, consider this:
It took the Nazis one month, three weeks, two days, eight hours and 40 minutes to dismantle a constitutional republic. All I’m saying is when the five-alarm fire starts to burn, every good person better be ready to man a post with a bucket of water if you want to stop it from raging out of control.
Those Illinois Nazis did end up holding their march in 1978 – just not in Skokie. After all the blowback from the case, they decided to march in Chicago instead. Only twenty of them showed up. But 2000 people came to counter protest. The Chicago Tribune reported that day that the “rally sputtered to an unspectacular end after ten minutes.” It was Illinoisans who smothered those embers before they could burn into a flame.
Tyranny requires your fear and your silence and your compliance. Democracy requires your courage. So gather your justice and humanity, Illinois, and do not let the “tragic spirit of despair” overcome us when our country needs us the most.

If only we could think about it more, so…
It’s made more reasons why Ace protect Luffy so eagerly..
It’s not that He didn’t love Luffy as his lit bro, and the most treasured person in the whole world, whose Ace loved the most, but also..
The last of two people in the world, who told Ace that Ace is loved and always be as long as his brothers alive.
And after Sabo’s death Luffy became the last and only reason for Ace to live, being sured by the fact that he was possible to be loved for years, and if Luffy could die..
There is no reason for Ace to be alive anymore.

Isn’t it heartbreaking understand your brother happy without you?
Tumblr media
It's all in front of him now, laid out in the form of a boy thought dead, all laugh lines and fire.

it is absolutely true that every character in death note is in a completely different piece of media from every other character. light thinks he's in law and order. L is in columbo, as columbo. misa is in a sabrina carpenter song and rem is in a chappell roan song. to ryuk this is all the three stooges. soichiro is in taken and matsuda is in brooklyn 99 and aizawa is in disco elysium. this is mikami's silence of the lambs and you're living in it. mello will either make this whole situation into twilight or die trying, and near? well. near is in death note.

Part 2: Luffy’s PARENTAL figure — ACE!
I rll wanna continue the thought of Parental Ace
But with more detailes connected with staff of Ace’s being single parent status, who leave his child at home more than less unwillingly.
Like…
He understand completely all these crazy parents who freaking out after one second after realization that they lost their kids in one blink.
Bc with Luffy?
You can’t relax until this child is tired and fed. Bc Luffy always could be caught in trouble. Eaten, beaten, lost or worst of that.
Possible on the edge of the cliff towards the ocean.
So 24/7 Ace keep his eyes on Luffy.
It’s not like his baby brother is burden, no, of course not. But any kind of danger or possibility of getting injuries in Lu’s case always turn into disaster with great damage. It’s not like his baby brother is weakling, not at all, he’s getting stronger every day. But still it’s Ace’s responsibility to take good care of his little brother, be support for him in the way Luf couldn’t do yet.
After all, Luffy is all Ace has. ( all what’s was left)
And maaaybe some times (especially when he set the sail) Ace couldn’t sleep too well cuz he can’t hear his brother’s sleepy mumbling and perpetual cowering. Ace couldn’t be alone for long timeme , and become nervous if he couldn’t do just smth (find food, make campfire, find edible or etc — just parent with hyperactive cheerful boy, who need everything and one more thing). So in the start journey finding weakling Deuce rll help Ace be enough tense for his own convenience.
on the Moby Dick Ace still has his BIG BROTHER-PARENT tone, especially in situation when he’s become too worried for his new siblings. And it’s not loud mouth shout, no, shouting doesn’t work on Luffy every time, and after Sabo…, well he learn the Makino-san’s way.
Calmly, clearly, briefly and with a slightly shown concern in his facial expressions, Ace conveys his message. But it is worth adding that for the person to whom such a speech will be addressed, it will become abruptly cold and he will feel the embarrassment that usually appears when a parent catches on to anything that has been carefully hidden, and the desire to listen.
It’s kind of sad and funny bc if the sides is switch, Ace for quite long time couldn’t find out why are exactly they mad or concerns of his safety. ( there is possibility for med stuff to gossip about Ace’s behavior what’s similar with pattern that single exhausted parents usually has.)
And there’s another idea why he, in the first place, listen Whitebeard. it’s cuz in some more than less ways Newgate similar with Garp, but Whitebeard is that one who besides knowing of Ace’s heritage, willingly and quite warm gives warm affection and recognition to Portgas. Stable, strong enough with all shit Ace throw at him, who accept him and gives necessary protection. ( like Ace does himself for Luffy everyday in the seven years).
Whitebeard is a parental figure who is not going to disappear for months like Garp did.
Whitebeard gives him comfort and physical affection willingly (which Garp didn't, and of which Ace himself gave to Luffy and sees it as an indicator of love and attention).
Ace is little brother for whitebread crew but still has the same vibe as Newgate has when the deal come to children on the island, the whoooole Big cool brother thing, or the role model. After one encounter with the few juniors in the crew, or while on a mission under Ace's command, it will suddenly hit a random crew member that Ace strongly resembles Whitebeard.
His attitude, his aura.
The aura that resembles the Oyaji.
Or another situation where this similarity is seen when one of the Whitebeards watches from the sidelines as the Spades crew works.
Already allies to the Yonko, but not yet so connected to the rest of the Nakama, the Spades acted as a well-oiled machine under Ace's leadership.
Maybe that's when the idea of appointing Ace as a possible division commander was first thrown in.
