Flames, bright and scalding, flare up in the dark. They burn my skin, as ashes fall like snow. A brain-altering reality simmers through me. Tears skim down my cheek as I accept my inability to breathe. All I could ever do is run from my agony. Numbness seeps under my skin; a pain deep in my bones. As I stand and watch the years go by; my life flashes before my eyes, turning into an overwhelming inferno. No sound comes out, my lips sealed by a raging confusion. How? How could it have come to this? From a child, I knew what life could do to a being, a family. I never suspected how horrible it could get to be. Oh, how wrong I was from the very beginning. Hope, a thing I never should have had.

But acceptance of the impossible becomes the possible, Because we realise that if we focus on the present … Then maybe we can move past those mistakes.
