Bruce helps manufacture a lot of Batman and JL tech through WE subsidies. In comics they often take names like “Wayne Fuel”, etc, but how much of them are easily recognizable Wayne (Enterprises) offshoots?

Beating the Heat while Fat: A Summer Survival Guide
Summer is (almost) here and it’s going to be hotter than ever. If you’re fat (like me), you know how much hot weather sucks. Specifically, we get to deal with fun issues like underboob sweat, chub rub, skin fold sunburn, and more. And while I like to take a body neutral approach to everything, this can be hard in summer thanks to exclusion and neglect.
The thing is that not a lot of people really... talk about these things, though, because that would interfere with our image of summer. Not a lot of companies are marketing their stuff as a solution to fat people’s problems, because that would be acknowledging that fat people might actually want to go outside during summer.
Having been fat for many a summer now, I want to share some of my resources for enjoying summer! These are all based on personal recommendations and things I have directly experienced. Please feel free to reblog and add on with your experiences and recommendations!
However, if your commentary is even remotely fatphobic, you will be blocked and your comments will be deleted. This post is not for you, and nobody is actually interested in what you have to say!
Back and Underboob Sweat
Two words: Gold Bond. Gold Bond fixes this. It comes in powder, stick, and spray form. I’ve used the powder in shoes, but not on my body. They’ve recently released an invisible form of the spray, which I’m very excited about.
Spray this under your breast tissue or other skin folds, or on flat areas of skin like your lower back that tend to sweat. Some of their powders have aloe in them, which is delightfully soothing for the skin.
Make sure that if you’re sensitive to scent, you buy one of the unscented versions. The “fresh” scent is nice, but it is a scent!
When you’re using this type of spray, do it clean but dry. Don’t do it right after a shower- give your skin a chance to dry off. Lift your breast or skin fold, spray underneath, and then hold it for a couple of seconds to let the spray dry down.
You can also use other types of powder, like body powder or baby powder. There’s mixed evidence about talc-containing powder and its link to cancer, but some people do find talcum powder more irritating than talc-free powder, so whether or not you use this is up to you.
Do keep in mind that this is NOT sunscreen! Apply your sunscreen first for areas of exposed skin.
Chub Rub
Dealing with the tops of your thighs rubbing together is extremely unfun. There are a couple of ways I like to deal with this!
Slip Shorts
I actually reviewed a bunch of these a few years ago. Slip shorts or bike shorts are perfect for wearing under dresses or loose-fitting rompers as a way to stop your thighs from rubbing. As a bonus, if you’re using bike shorts, sometimes they come with extra pockets to stash stuff in.
Friction Sticks
If you’re wearing a swimsuit and don’t want to wear shorts, or just don’t want to wear shorts, period, then a friction stick is another good way to avoid chub rub! I have a couple, Bodyglide and Gold Bond.
If you’re buying Bodyglide, they have one that’s just as good, Bodyglide Outdoor, that is sometimes cheaper. There’s a Bodyglide “For Her” which I’ve never tried, but that’s usually more expensive and let’s be real, do you really need to moisturize your inner thighs? I think not!
There’s also creams you can use but I find those messy and less effective than the sticks. You might like them, though! Experiment with products to find the one(s) that work for you.
Friction sticks can also stop foot blisters. Rub a little on your heel, toe, or wherever you get hot spots.
Dealing With Sweat
I sweat, you sweat, we all sweat. Humans were meant to sweat. Sweating’s a good thing. But that doesn’t mean it’s fun, and frankly I hate being sweaty. Typically, fat people sweat more than thin people, for several reasons related to the way we thermoregulate.
Fortunately, there are lots of ways to make summer sweating less annoying. I’ve written about this before, so you can check out that post for some of my favorite tips for dealing with sweat. Here’s some of the highlights.
Evaporative Cooling
A bandanna or other wrap filled with water crystals can do AMAZING things. You can make this yourself really easily- if you can’t find water crystals, you can just use Orbeez. They sell little 99 cent packs of those in the checkout lines at some stores and at the dollar store, and you can make several cooling wraps with one packet.
You can also get evaporative cooling towels, like Frogg Toggs. I don’t like those as much because they tend to start smelling a little funny, but they’re great for larger area coverage.
Using these will help cool you down and will do the same thing that sweat does– without being sticky.
Hair
If you have long hair, get it off the back of your neck. I used to put it up in a bun with a bun former, but now I just use claw clips. They’re cuter and easier! Seriously, this will help you so much. Get the hair up and away from your skin, you’ll feel so much better.
Hand Fans
I always have a hand fan with me, but not one of the little battery operated ones. I’ve tried a lot of those! I even took one up a mountain once, and it was the only reason I survived. But they never provide the same level of breeze that my folding fan does.
I use this one because it’s cute, and you can get cute ones for a couple bucks on Amazon. I do prefer fabric to the stiff paper ones, just because they’re a bit more durable- I’ve had mine for years now. It’s good.
I’m also not a huge fan of those fans that go around your neck, but I’ve seen many people enjoying them. If they work for you, great!
Hydration and Electrolytes
Carry water with you when you go places, and if you’re gonna be out for a while doing anything strenuous, take some electrolyte tablets with you. I like Nuun because I think they taste good, but there’s lots of brands out there.
There’s no one mineral called electrolyte, just so you know. Electrolytes are a group of minerals that includes sodium, potassium, and chloride as the primary (or significant) electrolytes. Electrolytes are important because they have a natural positive or negative electrical charge when dissolved in water. This electricity is how your nerves transmit information and how your cells make your muscles contract, so low levels of electrolytes can cause some serious issues. Different electrolyte imbalances have different symptoms, but common symptoms include nausea, fatigue, confusion, tremors, muscle spasms (cramps), and dizziness.
If you’re feeling those as you’re moving around outside, get somewhere cool, drink some water, and either eat some food or add electrolyte tablets to your water. This will help stabilize you quickly!
Skin Fold Sunburn Prevention
Everybody should wear sunscreen, period. End of story.
But if you’re applying sunscreen by yourself and you have skin folds, it can be a pain to reach them! This is especially true for any folds that form on your upper back or around your upper arm.
These areas can burn and be very painful, especially if you’re in swimwear or a sleeveless top. It’s also VERY easy to forget that these areas need sunscreen!
If you don’t want or don’t have someone to help you apply those areas you can’t reach, spray sunscreen can be a way to get those areas. If you don’t like the spray or want heavier coverage with a cream, then use a lotion applicator!
If the stick style doesn’t work for you (like if you have shoulder mobility issues), the strap style asks for a different range of motion. If you can’t find one that works for you at a big box store, look at a pharmacy. These are often sold as disability aids or for elderly people with a reduced range of motion.
But honestly, one of the most important things about this is just knowing your body. Know where your skin folds are and think about how they move as you’re applying sunscreen. Get underneath them- as you move, those areas can be exposed to the sun, too.
So yeah, that’s my best advice for beating the heat while fat. If you’ve got other tips, feel free to share them!
#summer#body neutrality#i do not know how to tag this#also please don't complain about the length of the post#it's a reference guide a tldr would be meaningless

Ohhh sarahhh I’ve been thinking about this all week and it’s just what if Harry was our sugar daddy and we needed something in a time crunch and didn’t tell him?? So we bought it ourselves and he finds out?? But like make it fluffy??🫠🫠🩷
Hiii babes!!! Sugar daddy Harry? I’m listening 👀🤤 also I’ve never written him as a sugar daddy so I went with him just being his regular famous self so hope that’s okay with you? Also the thing you end up buying is the first idea that came to my mind for needing to buy it in a time crunch, hope you enjoy!💖
CW: Mentions of a slight panic attack, talks about money
A/N: You and Harry have a very special relationship and you did something he might not be too happy about, not gonna lie this is a tiny bit dramatic but also fluffy so hope you enjoy✨
You’re anxious, you keep looking at the clock on the stove in your kitchen knowing that any minute now your boyfriend will be walking through your door because it’s Sunday and you and Harry have been spending every Sunday afternoon together since you started dating almost a year ago. It’s the one day a week the two of you don’t make plans and just see where the day takes you, sometimes the two of you end up at the beach soaking up some sun while reading or sometimes you don’t even leave your apartment and just enjoy each others company. But today you’re on edge because you did something the day before that might have the man that’s usually all dimpled grins and soft loving gazes when it comes to you to be a little mad or upset with you when he finds out. Because that’s the thing, you know he’s going to find out because you’re going to tell him but you just don’t know when because Harry looks forward to his Sunday afternoons with you and you just don’t want to ruin the day for him.
It’s not as if you did something so wrong that he’ll be angry, Harry very rarely gets angry especially with you. The issue is that your relationship with Harry isn’t like any other relationship you’ve been in before and it oddly enough has nothing to do with the fact he’s Harry Styles, a world famous musician, it has to do with the fact Harry enjoys paying for everything. When you met him almost a year ago you didn’t even expect him to even notice you in the crowded bar let alone find you interesting enough to want to ask for your phone number but he did. It was around your fourth date with him that he decided to let you know exactly what he was looking for because he could tell he was already starting to like you so it would be better to put everything out in the open so you could tell him if this was something you would even be interested in.
You knew Harry had money, even if you didn’t know who he was you would’ve been able to tell simply by the way he dressed and the cars he drove when he felt like driving himself and not calling for his personal driver or by the expensive dates he took you on. You just never thought he would be looking for someone to spend his money on because you were used to men wanting you to contribute to paying for things in someway such as covering the bill on some dates or paying for gas when you’d go on road trips so Harry telling you he was looking for someone to dote on and spoil in terms of money took you by surprise. He made it a point to explain that aside from the money aspect of things, everything else he wanted in a relationship was pretty normal or as normal as he could offer due to his sometimes hectic lifestyle. But it was an easy decision to make because you liked Harry and wanted to see where this could go so you told him you were happy to give it a go and the smile he gave you was all the reassurance you needed that you made the right choice.
Harry told you he’d be patient with you as this type of relationship can take time to get used to and patient he was, he would just give you a playful glare and softly pinch your elbow when you’d reach for your wallet at the checkout of a store or sometimes he would simply distract you with a hand on the side of your neck pulling you in for a kiss that would leave you breathless and your mind a bit of a muddled mess letting him quickly place his card down without you noticing. You learned that Harry not only wanted to pay for things he knew you considered luxury items such as a new Gucci bag or some designer sunglasses but he got the most joy out of buying you things you actually needed such as your weekly groceries or your rent, that being the latest thing he was adamant on wanting to take over for you.
Harry’s whole thing with wanting to pay for everything is that it not only makes your life a little less stressful but it makes him feel needed. Harry has explained that at the end of the day that’s really what he craves the most, knowing that you actually need him and that’s just his personality, he has this desire to be wanted and needed by you so much that money is actually a small but still important part of it all. So when he finds out what you did while he won’t be angry, you can’t help but think he will be a little annoyed and upset with you.
“Hey baby.” Harry’s arms wrapping around your waist makes you jump the tinniest bit having not heard him even come in due to being lost in your thoughts. “You okay?” He asks as he places his lips to the side of your head while he pulls you closer so your back is flush with his chest.
“I’m good yeah I just didn’t hear you come in.” You explain as you bring your hands up and place them over his. He just hums in response as he nuzzles his face in the crook of your neck making you smile. “What did you want to do today?” You ask as he loosens his hold on your waist and gives your neck a soft kiss before lifting his head allowing you to turn around in his arms.
“There she is.” You smile as Harry looks down at you with a soft smile as his bright eyes slowly roam over your face before they land on yours and you don’t miss the way the corners of Harry’s mouth twitch as he fights back a smirk when you feel your cheeks get warm, because even after almost a year you still find yourself getting flustered when he stares at you. “How was your day with the girls? Didn’t get into too much trouble did you love?” You feel your anxiousness begin to resurface at the mention of yesterday causing you to look away from him and wiggle out of his hold so you can walk towards your fridge and pull out a bottle of water.
“Uhm it was-” You start to explain as you go to turn around so your back is facing the fridge but Harry is already standing in front of you making your words get lost in your throat, his facial expression is one of confusion but also worry as he takes the bottle from your hands so he can place it on the counter behind him before turning his attention back to you.
“What happened?” You want to melt at how concerned he sounds but all you do is feel a sense of guilt for causing him to worry, you look down at your feet but he only allows it for a moment before his index finger is under your chin gently tilting your head up so you’re looking at him. “What happened baby? Did someone do-”
“No no it’s nothing like that I just.” You mentally curse yourself when you feel a familiar stinging at the back of your eyes and a lump forming in your throat. “I don’t want to make you upset because you’re so good to me-I didn’t think I just did it and I know we have rules for this but I just forgot about it and then I was in a rush and and I panicked I’m sorry I’m so sor-” Harry’s hands cupping the sides of your face as he bends his knees a bit so he’s eye level with you brings your rambling to a stop as his thumbs ever so gently wipe away the few tears that escape when you blink at him a few times.
“Sweetheart I need you to take a few deep breaths for me okay?” Harry’s voice is soothing but with the smallest hint of sternness that he knows you need in moments like this so you’ll be more inclined to do what he asks. “Breathe in,” you mimic him as he takes a deep breath and holds it a few seconds. “Good girl now let it out but slowly.” He smiles when you slowly breathe out and repeat that process a few more times before you feel your heartbeat begin to go back to normal as he unbends his knees and stands up straighter and you just swallow the lump in your throat as your eyes look down at Harry’s forearms only to see your hands tightly wrapped around them in an attempt to feel grounded to something.
“Look at me please.” You instantly snap your eyes up to meet his stare, the soft smile he gives you makes your heart flutter in your chest. “What’s got you so worked up hmm?” He asks before he leans down and presses his lips against your forehead making you let out a sigh at his comforting gesture.
“I bought something last night that was expensive and I did it without even bringing it up to you.” You want to close your eyes so you don’t have to see his reaction to your confession but you don’t, you just watch him slowly nod his head but when you don’t elaborate further he quirks a brow at you.
“Is that it?” The way he calmly asks the question takes you by surprise, so you drop your hands from his forearms and Harry knows you’re going to try to get out of his grasp so he drops his hands from your face and quickly wraps them around your wrists. “What did you buy?” He asks as you stare at him with a look of almost disbelief on your face making Harry just tilt his head to the side a bit as he waits for you to answer.
“Concert tickets uh are you-you not mad at me?” Harry can’t help the chuckle that comes out of him as he shakes his head at you.
“Mad? No baby I’m not mad at you.” He can’t help but feel a little bad for somehow giving you the impression that you buying something without telling him would cause him to be mad at you resulting in you almost having a full on panic attack while trying to tell him about it.
“I used my own money and everything though and I know we have rules-”
“And what are those rules love?” You watch with slightly wide eyes as Harry brings your hands up to his lips as he asks you the question, you feel his lips on your knuckles as he patiently waits for you to recite the rules to him.
“I’m not supposed to spend my own money unless we talked about it before hand.” Your voice isn’t as shaky as you tell Harry the main rule the two of you have regarding money, he just smiles and nods as he lets go of your wrists so he can place his hands on your hips.
“And did we talk about these concert tickets?” You slowly shake your head as you place your palms flat against Harry’s chest feeling the soft material of his worn out t shirt. “Are you sure? You don’t normally break the rules love so just tell me what happened.” The deepness of his voice makes you relax as you feel his hands give your hips a little squeeze encouraging you to speak.
“I don’t think we did? I just forgot they were going on sale and then I got the email about it so without really thinking I got online and then I was in the ticket queue for like half an hour and then my card was the only one saved and I only had five minutes to complete the checkout so I just-”
“Panicked?”
“Yes.” You can’t really say much else because it’s the truth, you were in a rush and in the moment you didn’t think to even call Harry because what if by the time he gave you his card information the timer went out? Then you’d have to do the whole process all over again and it was already stressful.
“You have one of my cards in your wallet baby why didn’t you just use that to buy them?” He’s not asking in a mean way he’s just genuinely curious as to why you didn’t try to use the card you carry around with you.
“Well that’s the uh other thing.” Harry already knows what you’re going to say before you say it so he just lets out a sigh and shakes his head playfully at you.
“You left it at your friend’s house didn’t you?” When you just nod your head at him he lets out a breathy laugh as one of his hands comes up to the side of your neck. “What am I going to do with you?” You still find yourself in a bit of shock that he’s not mad or even a little annoyed with you so you just shrug and look at his chest where his cross pendant lays against his shirt.
“If it uhm makes you feel better I got really crappy seats.” Harry lets out a scoff making you look at him as your hands go from his chest to the tops of his shoulders.
“Why would that make me feel better?” You feel him pull you a little closer as he leans back against your counter.
“Because I broke the rules so it can be my punishment?” Harry rubs his lips together as it all begins to click for him what exactly is going on in your mind. When the two of you first started dating he knew you were new to this type of situation but he’s not quite sure where along the lines he gave you the impression that if you broke a rule that you were going to be reprimanded for it because when it comes to you Harry doesn’t think he has it in him to punish you, especially in a way that would make you unhappy.
“Rules can get broken every now and then love it’s okay.” He explains as his hands slide from your hips to your lower back. “I don’t want you to think you’re going to be punished when it happens though because that’s not how this works.” You feel his hands slowly begin to run up and down your back making you relax under his touch. “I do things for you to make your life a little easier but I also just want to make you happy because that’s what makes me happy.” His tone is extra soft as he reminds you why he does the things he does for you.
“You make me very happy.” Harry smiles at your words as he leans down and places a kiss to your forehead.
“Good.” Is all he says before you feel his lips on yours making your hands go from his shoulders to the back of his neck pulling him closer to deepen the kiss. “You know I’m not going to let you keep your shitty seats right? I’m going to have to fix that.” He tells you when he finally pulls away and you just nod because of course Harry isn’t going to let you go to a concert and have bad seats.
“Okay.”
“Where is the show at?”
“The Forum.”
“Oh really? I’m sort of familiar with that venue.” You just playfully roll your eyes at Harry’s teasing tone making him laugh as he leans down and places a kiss to your cheek. “Where are your seats?”
“Uh section 233.” Harry nods as you begin playing with the hair at the back of his neck. “I got four tickets.”
“Am I invited?” He asks with a playful smirk and you just nod. “And you wanted me to sit in a shitty seat?” He jokes as you bring your hands from around his neck to try to hide your face making Harry laugh as your cheeks get warm from embarrassment. “Just give me the details and I’ll handle it baby.” He wraps his hands around your wrists so he can pull your hands away from your face.
“Okay.” You say with a nod while Harry gives you a warm smile. “Can we have a lazy day?” You ask expecting him to just nod and pull you into his arms so he can hold you a bit but to your surprise he shakes his head as he stands up and drops your hands from his.
“Sorry love we have a few errands to run.” You raise an eyebrow as he grabs one of your hands and interlocks his fingers with yours before leading you out of the kitchen and towards your front door. “Firstly we need to go get your wallet and then I’m thinking a little shopping?” The mention of shopping lets you know this is Harry’s way of getting to spend money on you to sort of make up for the money you spent yesterday but you also won’t be surprised if later in the week he sends you the amount you spent on the tickets to put back into your account.
“Then we can cuddle on the couch and watch a movie?” Harry turns to look at you before he grabs his keys from the table by your front door, he can’t help the grin that takes over his face at how adorable you look standing there asking him for a cuddle.
“Yes then we can have a cuddle.” He answers before he leans in and places a quick kiss to your lips making you smile. “I love you sweetheart you know that right?” You nod as he gives your hand a nice squeeze.
“I know and I love you too.” He can’t help himself when he steals another kiss from you making you giggle when he pulls away.
“Good now let’s get going.”

daylight - eleven
jj maybank x fem!reader | part 11 of the daylight series | read part 10 here
content warnings: mentions of sex
word count: 1.8k.
blurb: reunited with your best friend from Canada, the two of you talk about Tyler and JJ, and you finally come to a decision.
“Mimsy?”
When your best friend smiles at you, you wonder if you’re hallucinating. It’s only when she’s flying off the bed, squealing as she tackles you in a hug, that you’re sure she’s here. Here, in Kildare County, North Carolina, instead of Vancouver. As the shock subsides, your arms coil around her before squeezing like a python around prey.
“Oh my God,” you mumble, nestling your face in her shoulder. She smells like home. Like childhood and make-believe. It makes your eyes water. “Mimsy.”
“Surprise, babes!” she sing-songs into your ear.
Pulling back, you take her in. “How…When…How?”
“Darren, of course,” Mimsy replies with a cheeky grin. She parts from you and laps your bedroom leisurely, as if she’s as familiar with it as you. “I told him about your wacked out voicemail and he offered to buy me a plane ticket. All I had to do was let him put it up my butt.”
“Mimsy!” you screech.
She turns to you, shrugging. “What? I wanted him to.”
Shaking your head, you begin to laugh. It’s easy to forget how much you miss someone until you have them back. Having Mimsy in your company again felt like how a child might when they rediscover their favourite teddy bear that had been missing for months. The Pogues had been great friends to you since moving to Kildare, but like a substituted cuddly toy, nobody had come close to matching Mimsy, let alone replacing her. Having her back felt like coming up for air after hours underwater.
“So is Darren here too?” you ask.
“Nah,” she says. “Left him in Vancouver.”
“Well, how long are you here for?”
“Just a week. I’m thinking that’ll be long enough to set you back on your path. Bestow some wisdom on you and all that,” Mimsy says. She makes her way back over to you. “I took your voicemail as an S.O.S type situation.”
“Yeah, well,” you say, ditching your bag. “I think I screwed things up pretty wonderfully.”
“Men are simple. He’ll come crawling back,” Mimsy assures, but you’re not so convinced.
Wandering over to your pinboard, your eyes land on JJ’s beaming face. “I don’t know,” you mumble. “I don’t think JJ’s like that.”
Mimsy hums thoughtfully. She joins you by your side, presumably following your gaze. “He’s cute.”
“I know,” you chuckle.
“He a good kisser?” Shoving her shoulder jokingly, Mimsy lets out a laugh. “What!? I’m just asking the important questions here.”
Shaking your head, you head to your bedroom door. “Wanna go check out the area? It feels wrong wasting a good day cooped up in here.”
“Sure thing,” Mimsy easily agrees.
She follows you down the stairs and into your car, and chatters the entire drive to the harbour about all the gossip and drama you’d missed in Vancouver. It felt like a series recap that came at the start of ‘a very special’ episode. It also worked well as a distraction from thoughts about JJ. That boy had crossed through your mind so much recently, you wondered whether your brainwaves might be permanently altered.
Your tour of Kildare starts with Heywards and the Wreck before venturing towards the stretches of beach. Once Mimsy has gawked at the surfer bros for about fifteen minutes, you manage to drag her to the marsh-land area. Point out some fishing spots that JJ had introduced you to. Provide vague directions to the Pogue’s houses. After a brief lap of Figure Eight, the two of you swing by a taco bell before pulling into a look over.
“So,” Mimsy says as she chews a churro. “What the fuck happened?”
“With JJ?” you check. She nods. Your eyes drift over to the view. Green-leaved trees form rivers, and concrete roads and housing estates become the stones of the estuary that was Kildare County. “We got in this dumb fight when I was at his to watch a movie. After that incident a while back, I still haven’t let him go down on me or anything, and he got all confrontational about it. Took it personal and stuff and…I bolted.”
“The incident being the thing about your hoo-ha?” Mimsy checks. You visibly cringe.
“Please, do not call it that,” you mumble.
“If you get to wear a shirt about fishing, I get to call your vaj whatever I so please,” Mimsy shrugs. She offers you a churro after as if she didn’t just say the most heinous thing you’ve ever had uttered in your car. You accept. “But is it?”
“Mhm. I’m just scared that it’ll happen again,” you say. “It was embarrassing.”
“For like a minute,” Mimsy says. “But didn’t you say JJ was really chill with it.”
“The first time, yeah. But what if it’s a recurring thing? He’s gonna start thinking it’s because of him,” you explain, calming your worry with a chocolate-drenched doughnut stick.
“And you’re sure it isn’t?”
“No!”
“Alright!”
Sighing, you shake your head. “Sorry. I’m just…I think it’s Tyler.”
“This again?” Mimsy's tone isn’t angry; it's more concerned. “Babes, when are you going to let that whole thing be in the past?”
“I think I’m starting to,” you assure. “Maybe I didn’t deal with it when it actually happened but I had this conversation the other day and sort of...ended up burning all of his old stuff.”
Mimsy quirks a brow, squinting with just the one eye. “Bit melodramatic, don’t you think?”
“Shut up. It helped,” you reply, smiling smally. It fades away like the setting sun. “I think the whole thing has just made me nervous.”
“In what way, babes? Like you can’t trust another guy again?” Mimsy wonders.
You chew the inside of your cheek in thought, brows furrowing, and something dawns upon you.
“I don’t think it’s that I don’t trust others. I think it’s more that I don’t trust myself. I mean, I stayed around with Tyler for so long, even when I knew I shouldn’t. Even when everyone was telling me it was bad news. That it wasn’t normal to feel the way I was feeling in a relationship. I just let him bleed me dry, and went to all that effort to try and win his attention and his affection, just for it to all mean nothing. I don’t know,” you sigh, breaking away from your rant. “I guess I just don’t trust my judgement anymore. JJ’s fine now but so was Tyler, when I first met him.”
“Okay, not true,” Mimsy quickly disagrees. Your head darts up from your twiddling fingers. “Tyler was a prick from the start, you just didn’t want to see it.”
“As delicate as a sledgehammer, Mimsy,” you mutter.
“Second,” she continues. “From the things you’ve told me about JJ: he’s nothing like Tyler.”
That was true. With Tyler, you begged to receive compliments and even then, they were few and far between. But JJ was generous with them. Casually commented on your outfits, or your photos, or yourself. Tyler seemingly needed alcohol to remember that you existed whereas JJ came to you sober, drunk or high. Whilst your ex teased you for your fears and hopes, JJ listened and understood. Knew just how far to push the line of joking without becoming mean.
“Can I tell you a story?” Mimsy asks. It brings you from your mental comparison. Crossing your legs in your seat and pinching another churro, you nod.
“Sure.”
“Okay, well, it’s not exactly a story but I think it applies to this situation,” Mimsy self-corrects. “You know that show BoJack that I watch?”
“Yeah?” you wonder, unsure as to where she might be going.
“There’s this character, Wanda, who dates BoJack for a while. At first things are perfect. Sunshine, rainbows, that whole pile of crap. But after a while, his true colours show and she can’t keep moulding him into the guy she can see he could be. Eventually it all falls apart and she says something that I think encapsulates you with Tyler beautifully. She says, ‘it’s funny: when you look at someone through rose-coloured glasses, all the red flags, just look like flags’.”
The two of you sit in the quote for a moment, eyes locked. Mimsy starts to smile, sympathetic and sweet.
“I don’t think you’re gonna make the same mistake you did with Tyler ‘cause he ripped those glasses right off you. I think you’ve learnt your lesson once and once was enough.”
Pursing your lips, you try to keep the brimming emotions at bay. It feels like lately all it takes is a pin to prick you and you begin to cry.
“I think it’s hard 'cause I never got the closure that I wanted. Tyler never explained why or helped leave things amicable. Or apologise, even.: not properly”
Mimsy scoffs almost sadly. “Would you have even wanted him to, though? He was a fucking pro at saying sorry.”
“Mm, that’s true,” you muse. “Maybe it would have made me feel good for a minute, in the moment, but after…”
“Yeah,” Mimsy quietly agrees, somehow hearing your unspoken words. She picks out another churro whilst you pick yours apart. “I don’t think closure’s a real thing, though. Sometimes it is, sure, if you’re really lucky, but most things aren’t like the movies. You don’t get this picture-perfect coffee-date to clear the air and stuff. Most of the time, people just leave. Like my dad. I don’t even remember what the last thing I ever said to him was, and then he was gone for good. I guess not having closure at all is sometimes closure enough, if that makes sense.”
Her words make you take pause. Half-amused, half-smiling, you take in your wonderful best friend. “When the fuck did you get so wise?”
“Oh, after you left,” Mimsy jokingly replies. “I had to read some self-help books to get me through it.”
Snorting, you toss a piece of churro at her. Her advice melts into that of Barry’s, and the cathartic bonfire from the other night serves as a catalyst for your decision making. Maybe everybody’s right. Maybe it’s time for you to remember that all people are different people, and one man’s careless actions don’t emulate anothers. JJ can’t read your mind. He can’t understand the layers of emotion and history behind one small action, and he can’t decipher what you want through your wordless actions. You need to talk to him. You’ve kept your cards close to your chest for long enough.
“Alright, enough about me,” you say, popping a piece of churro into your mouth. Your grin brightens up the car, lightening the mood. “Tell me about Darren.”
“Oh, baby, I thought you’d never ask,” Mimsy giggles, a mischievous glint in her eyes. “So it all started at this house party…”
And just like that, you listen happily to Mimsy's rambling and allow yourself to enjoy life that tiny bit more once again, with a bookmarked thought to talk to JJ sooner rather than later.

Ballade of the Lost Child - Prologue
Characters: Niki, Yuzuru Proofreaders: Aru, Oli
Niki: Nomnom…♪
Kuu~u. This “hashimaki¹” is super yummy! Guess I was lucky there was a food stand here.
It’s so delicious, why don’t more people know about this?
This world truly is weird~. Society should acknowledge “hashimaki” so much more.
It’s a flour-based food and it’s super easy to eat. You can even choose its flavour.
(In falsetto) Welcome ♪ Which flavour sauce would you like? Soy sauce flavour? Or how about cheese? –Hm~m, I just can’t choose!
…Whoops. Woah, that was close. I almost passed that place by accident…!
Nahaha. I suddenly forgot why I’d come out here since I came across such delicious food~.
Ooh, this line is huge!? Is this for those doughy churros that are trending at the moment!?
I thought I could avoid the crowds by coming earlier, but there are already so many people here.
I guess people gather at places with delicious food after all~.
In other words, it’s not an exaggeration to say that “delicious food creates world peace”...!
Right, this is no time to be messing around. I need to get in line before it gets too long.
<At the same time>
Yuzuru: Let’s see. I believe all the necessary purchases should be complete by now.
One, two, three… I bought this too, and that one just a moment ago. This one was sold out, so I shall have to come back at a later date.
… Hm, it appears all is in order. I don’t seem to have left any oversights.
Niki: I’m really looking forward to it~. Coming across new food is always so exciting. ♪
Yuzuru: Oh my, do I hear a familiar voice?
Ah, so it belongs to Shiina-sama. He seems to be at the end of a queue.
Season Avenue is always bustling. Hence it’s odd to see so many people lined up in a single queue.
They all seem to be queueing outside that stand. I wonder what exactly is being sold?
If Shiina-sama is lining up, it’s likely to be some type of food or drink.
… (Looking around)
… The people who’ve moved away from the stand all seem to have brightly-coloured sweets in their hands.
From their shape, I would guess they were donuts… No, perhaps churros?
Churros…? Come to think of it, I believe the Young Master mentioned those the other day…
Something about a speciality store selling cute churros on Season Avenue.
I see. He must’ve been referring to this stand.
……
Hm… He truly seemed to want to eat them, so perhaps I’ll buy them as a gift for the Young Master.
I wouldn’t usually let him eat this kind of thing, but…
Recently, he seems to be putting more and more effort into both his studies and work. Why not spoil him once in a while…♪
Shiina-sama.
Niki: Huh? Fushimi-kun?
How strange seeing you here~? Did you also come to try the churros?
Yuzuru: I believe they would be a good gift for the Young Master. Would you mind if I accompanied you?
Niki: That’s fine by me~, let’s get these trending churros together! A journey is most fun with a companion after all²…♪
Yuzuru: It’s not a journey, we’re merely waiting together in line.
Niki: Nope nope. This line is the “Food Road”! In other words, it’s kind of like the Silk Road³, isn’t it?
Yuzuru: Well, um. Are you trying to compare this long queue to a road?
Niki: Yup!
Yuzuru: sighs. Since the “Silk Road” isn’t about food, but rather silk, I feel like it’s a bit of a strange analogy in the first place.
Niki: It’s instinct, Fushimi-kun. I thought I should express it to you in some way or another. Anyway, I don’t really care as long as we can get these churros.
Yuzuru: Please stop talking based solely on reflex⁴.
I don’t often find myself surrounded by your type, Shiina-sama. If I had to say, Hibiki-sama comes the closest.
Niki: Really?
I don’t keep any company that’s like Fushimi-kun~. I only have irresponsible and weird people around me.
Oh well, thanks to that I can usually take it pretty easy, so that’s a plus.
Yuzuru: By the way, Shiina-sama. It seems that most people here are eating their churros as they leave, so do you know if I could order them to go?
Since they’re not for me to eat and are instead a gift for the Young Master, I’d like to get them for takeout if possible.
Niki: Hmm~? Is that so? I was also planning on eating while walking around here.
Truthfully, this kind of food is usually eaten on the spot or while walking, so I’m not sure if they’d be alright to take home.
Ah, Fushimi-kun. Take a look at that guy over there!
Yuzuru: Sure.
Niki: It looks like he only just bought some churros.
They’re wrapped in a paper bag from the stand too! I bet that means you can get them to go–
Man: Uwahh!?
Niki: Eh, what happened!? A fight!?
That guy was shoved over and knocked down by another man in black!?
Man: My bag! Wait, get back here! Bag thief!
Niki and Yuzuru: A bag thief!?
-----
¹ Hashimaki is Okonomiyaki wrapped around chopsticks
² Japanese proverb which means something alone the lines of “no road is long with good company”
³ The Silk Road was a series of trade routes connecting Europe and Asia spanning over 6,400km (4,000 mi) named for its primary use of trading silk. Niki is trying to liken the queue that they’re standing in to a long road where food will be traded at the end.
⁴The literal translation of what Yuzuru says is for Niki to stop talking based on “spinal reflexes”. These reflexes being involuntary and based on instinct without input from the brain. It’s effectively the same phrase as “knee-jerk reaction” in English.

Finders Givers | Part 5
“So why’d you freak out?” Eddie expected the grilling, the second they left that extravagant building, he expected the grilling. “I mean, they were both super nice, I mean… Robin was… wow, I mean did you see her? I just—” he also kind of expected that, with the way Chrissy had just frozen at her entrance? Yeah. he expected that. “Wowzers y’know? But Steve was really nice too! He’d have probably offered us those jobs Eddie, we need jobs! Just cause rent is frozen doesn’t mean we don’t need jobs, we could save up our wages and use it on like, a holiday or something, we could go to Hawaii an be dumb white people tourists like in Lilo and Sti—”
“Did you not feel the vibes that guy was giving off?” Eddie didn’t usually interrupt her, she could go on a tangent, and the tangents were usually pretty cute so he’d often just let her go on with herself until she ran out of topics, allowing her to feel comfortable to just talk without feeling like she shouldn’t, but this time… he couldn’t hold it in.
“Steve?” She didn’t seem to mind though “yeah, I almost offered to let you two have some alone time, he was giving you serious bedroom eyes—”
“Chrissy no, nope! Not that! No he’s—he’s weird.”
“Weird in a hot way? Cause in my humble opinion he was working that suit. Do you think that tan was natural because oo-wee was it working for him.”
“Well yes, we both have eyes, but also no, dangerous weird, y’know? Something felt wrong about him, Chriss.” He felt like he was drifting in open waters and Steve was a huge leviathan type thing just waiting in the depths beneath him to drag him down away from light, away from life.
“You’re just saying that because he’s the boss of this big multimillion dollar company. Next you’ll be saying he’s capitalism personified or something, rich man buys out the neighbourhood, blah blah I can’t do your infamous table speeches, but listen, Eddie, he’s… he seems nice, maybe he is just nice.”
“And maybe he’s the mafia.”
“Eddie…”
“HE COULD BE! We don’t know that he isn’t.”
“This isn’t a movie, Eddie, c’mon let's just go home, maybe we can call up later about those jobs, yeah? It couldn’t hurt to work at a place you play at. Lenny wouldn’t give us the time of day when we tried applying for jobs there before, maybe we can get one now, it’s like… fate! Maybe Steve and Robin will come in one night and we can wow them with our fancy bartender skills, which we’ll of course learn through extensive trial and error, maybe a training montage, I’ll get my very own uptown girl an you’ll get your own hot rich man who’ll buy you fancy things and pamper you like I know you won’t admit you like but I know you’d eat that shit up.”
“Thought you just said this wasn’t a movie.”
“Some movies are based on real life stories! It could happen! It’s more likely than the mafia, c’mon.” Well… she had a point, they did need jobs, and Steve had… well he’d been nice hadn’t he?
There could be so many ulterior motives to what he was doing but why would it have to negatively affect them? It could just negatively affect some dude called Phil who lived two states over, it didn’t even have to involve them, really. Besides getting them a new job, right?
Right?
“…Fine, but you can send over our resumes, I don’t want anything to do with this! If the handsome rich devil man decides to give us the jobs, and comes into the bar, and I HAPPEN to serve him, and impress him then I will concede that the universe would like me to have a nice thing happen, but I will not go looking for fairytale endings, okay?” He knew better than to get his hopes up.
Steve Harrington had looked at him like he was dinner, he’d done the whole stuck staring stupid bit, and it’d been endearing, cute, surprising considering holy shit Steve was like… way out of his league, but… if the universe wanted it to happen then the universe would make it happen!
Eddie would have no part in the process of it happening! He’d just… indulge a little in the end result.
“Someday, Eddie. Someday I’m going to convince you to go and find good things for yourself, and you’ll see just how easy it is to make yourself happy.”
“Someday perhaps, but today is not that day.”
“Be honest now… what did you think of him?” It wasn’t a common thing, Steve sat in front of Robin’s desk, in the chair opposite her big floor to ceiling windows, with Robin looking pretty menacing in her high backed chair, shadowed, her hands steepled at her chin, thumbs pressed into her own throat in thought, her silence stretched long enough for him to tack on “think from a non-lesbian standpoint.”
“I think he looks like a passel of Opossum in a trench coat. A domesticated raccoon, a wet rat that some cruel individual permed for some reason.”
“Well that’s mean, and definitely not from a non-lesbian standpoint.”
“That’s from a person with eyes standpoint.” Steve rolled his own eyes and slumped backwards in the chair like a petulant teenager, arms crossed over his chest. “He looks like he’d scamper, Steve.”
“What’s wrong with scampering?! It’s cute to scamper!”
“It’s reserved for tiny critters, not fully grown adult men.”
“Men can scamper if they want to, don’t you impose your weird masculine rules on us, Robbie, it’s problematic.”
“I swear to god if I catch you on twitter—” shook her head, hand lifted to cut herself off “Steve… is this guy really worth all the money you’re throwing at this?” It was a lot of money, a lot, and they wouldnt get any of it back.
“I mean… I don’t know, but then I didn’t know if Jane would be worth it, or if she’d get any use out of the bakery I bought for her, I didn’t know if paying Nancy’s debts off would be worth it, I didn’t know if any of you would be worth the effort and money I put in to bring you all in and keep you all healthy and safe, and I still did what I did for all of you, so… why is this guy any different?” So far he’d been a spectacular judge of character. “Plus!!! He comes with a very cute blonde!! I’m sure you noticed the very cute blonde.”
“Aren’t you worried that they might be dating?” It was a very good point, and one he hadn’t actually considered. But then—
“If they are then they are, it doesn’t mean I shouldn’t give them a chance like I gave all of you guys a chance.” Anyone who’d knock the shit out of their manager for their friend or partner was alright by him, it showed a loyalty that laughed in the face of authority, he LIKED when people laughed in the face of authory. Authority figures needed to be laughed at sometimes. And punched other times. Robin’s shoulders slacked, her expression shifting to one of soft amusement. “Yooooou wanted me to say that didn’t you?”
“Maybe a little. Just making sure you’re not thinking entirely with your dick. They’re not dating by the way… she’s not even a little bit his type.” Eddie had been quite open about his own sexuality, on purpose or just as a spur of the moment thing, Robin didn’t know, but it was nice to know Steve’s interest wasn’t entirely a lost cause.
“I was wondering why you dropped my relationship status in there.”
“Mmm… I did notice the very cute blonde… she seemed nice.” Bubbly, cute, like a cheerleader “and only because Chrissy seemed very nice… only because I would very much like to see her again… am I going to agree to go along with this nonsense without further complaint.”
“You cant agree to go along with something without complaint while calling it nonsense.”
“Watch me, Dingus.”

1k. (suggestive) misunderstandings, platonic. gn!reader.
“Why do you hate me so much?”
Of all the questions you expected Kaveh the Architect to ask you on what you had supposed to be a first date, this was not among them. Indeed, being the juxtaposing type of question you’d expect any sane suitor to ask, it was flabbergasting, and you could hardly think of a reply to combat this. Your jaw dropped and you peered into his ruby eyes, searching the jewels for a saving clue.
“You can be honest,” he continued bewilderingly. “That’s why I wanted to properly meet you for coffee. So that we could talk like adults.”
No, of all the questions you anticipated coming from someone who had asked you to meet for coffee “as soon as possible,” bringing “just yourself,” this was not among them. But maybe it should have been. The urgent nature of it all may have been a clear enough indicator, had you paid attention. A bit awkwardly you realized how far off your assumptions about this all had been. To think that you’d thought he was trying to get into your pants. Taking you on a date first like an adult. Not asking you to coffee just to talk like one.
Finding no answers in his eyes, you settled your gaze on your joe and pondered. Then at last, with much less certainty than you had intended, you responded, “I… don’t.”
“You don’t what?”
You met his eyes. “I don’t hate you, moron.”
Kaveh visibly bristled. This was how you had expected him to look after you’d turned down his supposed sexual interest as planned. “I don’t buy it. After the way that you talk to me, how you’ve turned down my project ideas, how you talk about me to other people…”
There was much for you to unpack here, but the last point caught your own sense of urgency. Your mug came down onto the table harder than you meant. “I don’t talk about you to other people. What do you mean, how I talk about you to other people?”
“You know.”
“I don’t. Where is this coming from? Kaveh, what the hell?”
He swallowed and spoke with seemingly great effort. “Alhaitham said… that you said… you can’t bear to be around me.”
“Kaveh.”
“Yes?”
“Alhaitham isn’t people. Alhaitham is person. A person who has been known to enjoy messing with you.”
He hesitated, and then declared, “A lot of the stuff he says is true. Even if it’s utterly uncalled for.” Kaveh looked anywhere but at you. “Sorry. I just…”
You looked him up and down. Here, you’d thought he was all of the things he wasn’t. And here he thought you were all of the things that you were not. You let a short laugh slip, and then quickly covered your smile with your knuckle.
He spoke feebly and towards the cafe aisle instead of you. “I’m taking this seriously. I don’t want you to hate me. Can’t we talk about it?”
Oh, it was sweet, and ironic, and delightful, and hilarious.
“Yes, Kaveh. Let’s talk about it.”
He glanced at you and quickly away again, nodding. His avoidance of eye contact made you feel a bit bad, but for only a second. You wanted to get the truth out before you made any attempt at comforting the poor soul.
“I don’t hate you,” you continued. “I don’t even dislike you. I like your company and I think you’re marvelous and creative. I think—and this is what I told Alhaitham—I think that if I spent too much time with you, I’d become more engaged myself, and I’m just not ready for that change in my life. Or I wasn’t. I was too comfortable with the status quo.” You paused to sip your bitter coffee, trying to figure out the words for the rest of it.
“But my projects,” he said, “my project ideas, the ones you refused to help with.”
“You wouldn’t want to do those with little old me,” you replied, simply and honestly.
“I really would.”
“No, Kaveh. You don’t understand. I’m not brilliant like you. I’m a materialist, a realist, a square-cut function-obsessed gadgeter. I don’t do pretty designs. I can’t contribute to—” You gestured as if his mind was splayed out as a galaxy of ideas before you. “—All that.”
He tilted his head, looking again keen and reactionary.
“And I’m sorry,” you finally said, “for how… for how blunt I can be. And I know I can be mean. I swear it’s just the way I talk, it’s not—”
He cut you off. “So I’m not the one you hate?”
“What do you…” It was your turn to cock your head.
“I mean…” He raised an eyebrow, not mockingly. “You’re just unhappy, aren’t you?”
You set your mug down and leaned your elbows onto the table. He looked intently back at you now. Like a friend. Like someone who cared about being hated by you, and someone who cared about you hating yourself.
You cleared your throat, grasping at the straws of a changed subject. “I thought this was gonna be a date, nitwit. Not a therapy session.”
“A date?” He looked horrified.
You laughed at his expression, feeling all sorts of relieved. “Good to know neither of us were looking for that.”
“Tell me: Why would I ask you on a date if I thought you hated me?”
“Oh, Kaveh.”
“That doesn’t make an inch of sense.”
“Speaking of inches. Are you sure you want those columns in that desert library design to be that thick? Why not just have a few more columns among the shelves?”
And as quickly as that, the fear and sensitivity in his face faded and was replaced by glowing defense of his idea.
The supposed date turned into a shrewd planning convention and you watched the remaining tension leak from his fingertips as he gestured at his invisible designs in the air. You thought, yes, this is why I can’t bear to be around him. He’s so bright and alive. It burns my eyes.
But you were alive too, thanks to the warm late-night caffeine. And thanks also, perhaps, to the feeling that the conversation you had avoided earlier might come around again, and that you didn’t mind that. You didn’t mind the idea of more conversations with Kaveh.
author's note. i don't know, guys, i think i'm obsessed with being this guy's friend. and... yeah, this is sort of a vomit of words about how easily social signals are misinterpreted, especially when you're ANTISOCIAL like me. i'm fine though. do not worry.

‘You’re not my type.’
Lloyd gritted his teeth; he held back the anger. You used to be obedient and never disrespect him like this. Now you turned into your old self. You said the same things the first time you met him.
He brushed the back of your hair gently. His touch made you shiver and you uncomfortable. Lloyd lifted his finger to show you the ring.
“You married me, my love. You must be shocked. I understand it’s difficult for you to accept the fact. Don’t be afraid, I have hired the best doctor to treat you.”
Then he brings your hand to his lips and kisses your knuckles; his mustache tickled you. “So we could go back as we used to.”
You pulled back your hand after he said that: his gaze, actions, and everything he did scared you. You don’t understand why, but you feel helpless towards him.
Lloyd, seeing you being silent made his heart ache more than ever. He’s afraid to kiss your lips and bring you into his arms. After being married, this is the longest time he is separated from you. He doesn't want you to see him as a creepy person.
Both of you are husband and wife, for God's sake.
Everything he built has turned into a mess now. The empire he have, turned crumbled when there was no queen beside him.
“I’ll leave and come back tomorrow.” Lloyd showed a sad smile and left you.
You look at his back, he looks depressed. You want to feel sorry for him, but you can’t. Because right now, the one who needs to feel sorry for is you.
Imagine you suddenly wake up and become a wife and mother. Your body is 42 years old, but your mind is still 21 years old. You don't know who your husband and your children are. To you, three of them are just strangers.
The only people you want to see are Mia, Theo and Amelia.
Where are they? They’re not worried you got amnesia?
A lot of questions in your mind right now. You need to get out of the hospital. You hate it here.
“Urgh.” You growled with pain because when you moved your feet, it hurt so bad. You tried to press the button to call the nurse.
“Mother, what are you doing?” You turned your head and saw Emily and Lionel together.
“Umm…” You feel awkward with them. It felt like a dream you have a grown up kids standing infront of you.
“I want to walk, but it’s really painful.”
Emily immediately approached your bed, and she stopped you to make another move.
“You’re in a coma for four months. Because of the accident and lack of movement, it will hurt when you move any muscle. I will made appointment for physical therapist for your treatment.”
You looked at her and felt familiar. Her nose, her jawline, the way she speaks, and the little mole near her left eye. She looks just like you.
“Thank you.”
Emily shook her head. “Don’t say that. You shouldn’t say that. It supposed to be me who…” She stops talking since tears from her eyes start dropping to the bed sheets. “I’m so glad you’re awake. I thought…. I lost you.”
After she said that, Lionel dropped to the floor, facing down, and cried.
Seeing both of them crying at the same time made you confused. You decided to open both of your arms and said, “Come here, both of you.”
In just a second, two of them are in your arms. But it was Lionel who got all the space. He rested his head on your shoulder, and he wrapped his arms around you, “I’m sorry mother. I’m sorry. It’s all my fault.”
He keeps repeating these words. Since the accident, the guilt is eating him alive. He wished that it was him instead of you on that day.
You want to cry when you hear his voice; you stroke his head. “It’s fine. I’m alright.”
You sighed heavily, accepting the fact the moment you wake up you became a wife and a mother.
"Shit, that fucking hurt."
"I never heard her curse in my life." Lionel whispered to his sister. He and Emily are watching you exercising your leg with parallel bars. You tried to regain your strength and balance.
Emily patted her brother's shoulder. "Anyone who just escaped death will have their personality to changed.”
Lionel saw you slipped away from the parallel bars. He moves fast to catch you. But you slapped his hand. You felt you hurt this boy's feelings. You apologize to him "Sorry, I'm still not used with this."
Lionel made a small nod and backed away. What you mean by 'with this' is you still can't accept the moment you wake up, and you become 40 years old without any memories.
He looked at Emily again, wanting to cry. All of this happened because of him. He decided to walk away and get some fresh air.
Emily saw her brother leave the room. She felt bad seeing him depressed, but he needed to learn the consequences of his mistakes. It wasn’t his fault the car hit you. But if he didn’t insist to grab that damn shoes, none of this would’ve happened.
It hurts her when she hears you have amnesia.
The way you look at her is also different. But Emily thinks it's a good thing. Because you became someone else. You seem confident and brave even though you still can't accept reality. She never sees this side of you.
Before, you used to say yes to everything Lloyd said. You're an obedient wife.
You're the best mother she ever knew, and she is grateful for that.
But how Lloyd, Krystal, and Lionel treated you is unfair.
The life she had found out to be a lie. Emily used to see Lloyd as an awesome, strong, smart, and successful father. And he loves you so much. But after she grew older, she realized that what happened between both of you was not love.
It’s obsession and stubbornness.
And her grandmother, Krystal. Emily never being close to her. She always heard her friends' stories about how their grandmother was so nice, always giving them allowance food and staying with them.
With Krystal, she doesn't have anything like that. There’s no such thing as a connection with her own grandmother. Even with all her high grades, trophies, and certificates, she never heard any compliment from Krystal.
Lloyd and Krystal used you to get what they wanted, and they did. But they have to pay a price. That's the biggest secret in this family.
That's why she left. She felt ashamed of the horrible lie she had known for the rest of her life.
Lionel is almost the same as them, but Emily hopes he will change for good because of this accident.
‘Bzzt.’
Emily grabbed her phone and saw the name was Dr. Gabriel. He’s a senior doctor who is also in charge of you. “Good afternoon doctor.”
“Come to my office. There’s an annoying patient at my office right now. Could you check on him? I’m still giving class at the moment.”
Emily widened her eyes, she had never heard Dr.Gabriel sound annoyed and disrespectful towards any patients. He always being professional. She became curious about who the patient was.
She turned off the phone and approached you. “Mom, I need to go. Don’t trained to hard.”
You nodded at her. “Yes. Don’t worry.” In your eyes, she’s a great kid. You’re grateful for having a smart and kind daughter.
After Emily left, the therapist asked, “Do you want to rest?”
You shook your head and wiped the sweat from your head and hands. “Continue.”
Even though it’s painful and you hold it in. It’s nothing compared with the feeling of knowing your father had died and you don’t have any memory of it.
The doctor told you to have a bed rest for a few days before practicing to walk again. But you said no because you want to leave the hospital as soon as possible to see your father's grave tomb with your own eyes.
You want answers.
Emily walks faster to Dr. Gabriel's office room. When she arrived, the nurse immediately gave the patient record to her. She opened the door, and a man was already sitting on Dr. Gabriel's chair, facing the window.
Since he’s a senior doctor, his space is bigger than anyone. Most of his patients are also rich and famous.
No wonder Dr.Gabriel sounded annoyed at the phone. This patient already makes this room like his own. She could feel the arrogance from afar. Seems like the patient noticed someone walking into the room. He turned his chair. “You’re late.”
The patient was taken aback for a moment because he had mistaken someone.
Emily cleared her throat. “Dr. Gabriel still giving a lecture righ now. He send me instead. I hope you don’t mind, Mr. Drysdale?”

Lucky [j.yh]
>> jeong yunho x reader >> fluff, cozy, soft, really super very tender, college au, i'm in my yunho feels rn and i want him to be one of my classmates wtf >> wordcount: 1.7k -> it's another boring day in uni, you're exhausted and distracted but you're lucky yunho is with you to keep you company !! <3 [little short story, nothing much happens but hehe] <-
[8:40 a.m]
-Hey! ‘Morning, morning…!
-...Good morning.
-Thaaat… didn’t sound convincing at all. Are you really having a good morning?- Yunho’s sweet voice reached your ears like some sort of lullaby. Although it was only nine in the morning, you felt like taking a nap, again. The one you took on the subway on your way to university wasn’t enough.
You were feeling quite slumpy for no reason in particular, and your friend had now made it his problem, too.
-What if we–
-No, Yunho. No skipping lectures…- you tried to sound responsible even though that thought has been lingering in your mind for at least three hours.
-Woah, that’s what you were thinking about? I was gonna suggest to go grab a coffee but if skipping class is what you really want to do then…- he giggled, his eyes searching for yours while the two of you were heading to class: the thought of spending the following hour and a half stuck in a room with other 80 students didn’t really excite you that much. You were glad that Yunho was there to keep you company, though.
Since you still had some time before the lecture started, the two of you quickly grabbed a drink from the vending machine: a really bitter canned coffee and a really sweet peach ice-tea. What a duo…
-Hopefully your way too sweet ice-tea won’t make you straight up fall asleep in class.
-Shush, at least it’s not whatever abomination you keep getting.
-It’s just coffee–
-I’m sure you’re the only one in this whole university that buys that.
-Oh well… more for me then, heh!- he shrugged, a faint smirk painting his lips before he took a sip of his drink. The two of you quickly arrived in class and found two seats, your hands swiftly taking out your laptop from your bag, sipping on your drink while waiting for it to turn on and load your notes. The professor hadn’t arrived yet so the room was filled with a lot of chattering, giggles and mumbling; students were gradually filling the seats around you and you found yourself leaning your head on Yunho’s shoulder out of boredom.
-Yunho, I really don’t want to be here…
-Mh? Do you want to skip? The prof is not he– oh! Nevermind, he’s just arrived.
You scoffed, trying not to laugh too loud at the perfect timing of his comment. Shaking your head slowly, you fixed yourself on the really uncomfortable chair and took one last sip of your drink. as you brought your whole focus to your laptop, the way-too-calm voice that your professor used whenever he had a lecture started to fill your ears. You sighed, probably trying to conceal a possible yawn from leaving your mouth, and threw a quick glance at Yunho, sitting on your right: he was carefully taking notes on his notebook– his handwriting wasn’t the best, but you had always found it quite adorable, the way he would somehow crouch while taking notes, his hand quickly moving on the book, his pencil case storing a whole army of blue pens and blue pens only, besides one yellow highlighter and a pencil.
The professor’s soporific voice echoed in the room (since he had decided to use the mic to be heard better) along with the typing sounds of people taking notes on their laptops. You tried to stay focused, yet your mind was wandering away way too easily, and you didn’t know why: so many thoughts flooded in, the main one being a really strong need to just stand up and leave that damn lecture. You sighed once again, and you suddenly felt someone tapping on your arm.
It was Yunho: his eyes were not hiding the obvious concern and worry he was feeling towards you– but you just couldn’t even explain how come you were feeling so blue that day. Maybe it was the ugly weather? The heavy gray clouds you spotted on your way to class that morning? Or the fact that you had stayed up all night playing games and not winning a single match…
You shook your head and tried to bring your focus back to your laptop screen: that half-empty document page was waiting for some new words to be inserted, and your heavy hands tried to type in whatever the professor was talking about, although tiredness was getting the best of you. Yunho tapped once again on your shoulder, this time he offered you his pencil: you accepted it, now holding it in your hand and not really knowing what to do with it. Yunho lightly pushed his notebook towards you, leaving a blank spot available for you to doodle on. A smile painted your lips while you started to quickly draw some little silly characters, moving to writing random comments and words, and then switching to writing Yunho’s name in various fonts: whenever you completed one, you would leave a quick “dummy ~ “ right next to it just to move on to the next font.
You had obviously abandoned your notes, although you tried from time to time to type in something –some concepts or quick important things– but your attention would move back to Yunho’s notebook quite easily: your eyes and mind were absorbing every letter and drawing you left in that blank space that, well, wasn’t blank anymore. You weren’t aware of the way Yunho had been looking at you the whole time: his eyes softened the moment you accepted the pencil, his lips were curved in a sweet smile and he silently admired every drawing you had left on that page while he carefully took notes without disrupting your little masterpiece.
Once he had to turn the page, though, he lightly tapped on your hand with a finger: you didn’t pay much attention to it for a moment, probably because you were so bored of that lecture and so absorbed in your little world that you weren’t paying attention to anything or anyone at all at that point. His finger traced random lines on your knuckles before you finally stopped and looked at him, giving him a few seconds to turn the page and resume with his notes. You silently apologized, leaving a little smiley right next to the few words he had written.
The moment you heard your professor dismiss the class, you stretched your arms, somehow acting as if you did something productive during that lecture. You did feel a bit more relaxed and you had to thank Yunho for that. In such an easy way he was able to let you silently vent and get distracted, assuring you that he would have lended you his notes. You promised you would have offered him an ice-cream as a thank you gift.
-Oh well then, don’t mind me if I choose one of the most expensive ones!
-It’s fine, Yunho. It’s both for the notes and for the fact that I basically vandalized your notebook.
He shook his head, laughing- You really liked writing my name, what, four times in a row? But it’s fine, at least you didn’t fall asleep…
-C’mon, the professor even used the mic today… It was the perfect lullaby…
-I can’t even imagine falling asleep to an old man explaining marketing graphs but I guess to each their own…- you lightly slapped his arm in response, laughing.
-Right, did you hear about that project the other departments came up with?
-No, I was too busy writing your name in different fonts for a whole hour.
-Oh, true. Well I just understood that some people will be involved in a whole photoshoot! The photography kids are quite good, you should apply to that.
-Me? Nah, I’d rather–
-Spend the whole night playing games just to come to lectures completely sleep deprived?
You stopped abruptly, nearly tripping in your own steps- What’s up with the sudden callout?!
-I was so worried this morning. But then I checked and saw your last access online was at 2 in the morning… with a 4 hour long gameplay… uninterrupted…
You bit your tongue, your eyes quickly avoiding to meet his. You got busted! And no excuse would have saved you in any way…
You had promised, at the beginning of the semester, that you wouldn’t have destroyed your sleep schedule over some silly video game. You were quite serious about that and allowed Yunho to see your game history and access just to keep you in check. A little detail you had momentarily forgotten…
-Yunho… forgive me?- you looked at him, signaling an apology with your hands, held tight together.
-You’re lucky today we don’t have other lectures… Were you perhaps planning to not come at all?- he looked at you, his eyes nearly closed because of the way he was (jokingly) glaring at you.
You quickly moved your gaze away, clearing your throat before admitting that you were indeed planning to skip lectures and that was why you went to sleep so late. But in the morning you felt quite guilty, remembering how Yunho would often tell you not to skip classes otherwise it would become a bad habit, so you decided to go even though you were completely sleep-deprived.
Yunho tried his best to hide a smile from showing on his lips, failing miserably because of how cute you looked in his eyes. His hand fixed a lock of your hair, delicately moving it behind your ear.
-Well, I really appreciate how your sleep deprived brain thought about me, but next time take better care of yourself, okay?- he mumbled, his fingers delicately caressing your hair.
You nodded, receiving a quick peck on your cheek.
-Let’s go then, I’m really in the mood for a big big ice-cream a certain someone is going to offer me!- his hand lightly grabbed yours, and you let him lead you to the usual place you would stop by to get some snacks.
The sky was clear, no heavy gray clouds were in sight anymore and you really felt better, probably thanks to him and his precious company. You felt really lucky.

The Curse of Sight, Part 3
[Part 1] [Part 2] [Part 4]
Summary: When Wes Weston meets Tim Drake-Wayne, the dots start connecting. And those dots form a Bat.
Ao3 Link (available only to Ao3 members)
When Wes gets home that night, he cuts off the part of Tim’s note with his name. His contact information has already been added to his phone, so he tears that part of the note up and then trashes it. The part containing his signature, Wes dumps into an envelope and scribbles out a note on a different sheet of paper:
You owe me one.
—Wes
Wes seals the envelope, stamps it, and writes Tucker’s address in the center, and uses one of his mom’s fancy returning address stickers so he doesn’t have to write anymore. Then he rushes out the townhouse and drops it off at the USPS outgoing mailbox, and rushes back inside before the powers that be decide Wes should be mugged again.
Tucker may be one of the Gaslighting Trio, but he was still nice enough to help Wes in their computers class.
xxXxx
Wes: Hi, it’s Wes! You gave me your number yesterday so I could give you coffee next time I went on a coffee run?
The reply comes unexpectedly fast for someone who runs a Fortune 500 company and is a whole entire vigilante, but maybe the coffee addiction is just that strong.
Tim: Wes! Yes, please. Have you left yet?
Wes: No, I haven’t even made the mobile order yet. Wanted to give you time to respond. Why?
Tim: Just a sec
Wes stares at his phone from his place in his mom’s office, where he sits in a brown suede chair that sits in front of her desk. His mom is typing away on her computer, a look of concentration on her face.
“Huh,” he says to himself, then exits the chat to return to putting in orders. He’d like to just click on a past order and reuse it, but Felix and Kourtnie are always changing their orders. He’s convinced it’s because they hate him, but maybe it’s that he’s letting his experience with Jade color his vision.
“What is it, sweetie?” his mom asks without pausing in his work.
“Well, Tim asked me to text him next time I went to get coffee. And like, I did. And he answered, but then told me to wait a sec.”
“Can’t ignore orders from the big boss,” his mom says, and Wes nods.
“Yeah, but I think Kourtnie will die if she waits too long for her caffeine fix.”
“She’ll have to get over it, or stop by Batbucks before she comes in.”
“I don’t think she wakes up early enough for that….”
His mom snorts, “You’re right on that front. How did you even meet Mr. Drake?”
He shrugs and looks back to his phone, “I dunno. He pressed the elevator button for me a few days ago, and now suddenly all of this—” he gestures to everything, “—is a thing.”
“Teenagers,” his mom mutters under her breath.
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Nothing. Just that you suck at describing things.”
“You’re mean. I’m disowning you as my mother.”
“Have fun on the streets of Gotham.”
“I’ll sell your credit card numbers online to buy a bus ticket back to Amity.”
“Greyhounds don’t go to Amity. Try again.”
“I’ll hitchhike and get serial killed by a semi-truck driver to get back to Amity. Then I’ll come back as a ghost and haunt you and Gotham.”
“Not Amity Park?”
“No, they have other problems.” Like the Guys In White. Gotham has issues, but at least they aren’t government-mandated war crimes type of issues.
His mom goes to say something, but a knock at her office door stops her. She finally looks up from her computer and makes eye contact with the interrupter, and says, “Oh, come in, Mr. Drake.”
Wes has to physically stop himself from whipping around, “Oh, hey, Tim! What’s up?”
This is it. He’s finally figured out what I figured out and now he’s come for my kneecaps.
Okay, that was dramatic, even for him. He was making the Bats sound like a little family of mob members. Really, they were just superheroes. They couldn’t do anything harmful to Wes. At least not physically.
….Would they erase his memories? Is mind-fucking considered physical harm?
Wes breaks into a nervous sweat.
“I just want to help Wes out with his coffee run,” Tim explains with that charming Wayne smile that wins the hearts of anyone who feels. “I hope you don’t mind me going out with your son, Penny?”
“Not at all,” his mom answers. “Have fun, boys. Oh, and Mr. Drake?”
“Yes?”
“Tell your brother to stop flipping off the cameras every time he spots paparazzi.”
Tim winces, “I’ll send the message, but we can’t really run a business and control Jason at the same time.”
Jason Todd. As in Red Hood, the second Robin. The one who was pronounced dead overseas, but was miraculously found safe and somewhat sound several years later. Fantastic.
Wonder how much of that death was real? Wes has had enough ecto-exposure thanks to his stalking hijinks in Amity Park to know when he’s around others who have been touched by Death. He’s about 60% sure he could clock that in Jason Todd if he ever happened to get near him.
Hopefully while in his civilian persona. Wes is uninterested in meeting any more vigilantes, thank you very much.
They say their goodbyes to his mom and he gets up to follow after Tim, his knees a little wobbly. How long can he pretend to be nervous about hanging out with the guy who signs not just his paycheck, but his mom’s?
They walk through the PR Department and make it to the elevator, painstakingly going through the motions of small talk. Wes is aware of every word he utters, carefully asking himself what could be taken the wrong way, and what is innocuous enough to say.
“So what did you want from Batbucks?” he asks as the elevator lowers.
“Oh, the same as what you got last time,” Tim answers, and Wes abides by that request with a single press of a button. Their conversation moves to favorite TV shows as they leave WE and head to the crosswalk to make it to the Batbucks across the street, and once there, Wes pushes the check-in button to signal to the baristas that he’s there for pickup whenever the order is finished, and they take a seat against a wall and far from the windows.
“A Trekkie, huh?” Tim asks when Wes tells him his top five TV shows. “And a crime fan, too.”
Wes shrugs, fiddling with his fingers, “I like to figure out the ending before the characters do, and honestly, I just like George Takei.”
Tim tilts his head, “That’s fair. I like crime shows, too.”
Haha yeah, I bet you do.
“What’s your favorite?” Wes obligingly asks.
“Oh, Criminal Minds, easily. Spencer’s a great character.”
Wes wonders how a person with two full-time jobs like Tim has time for hobbies that include 40-minute episodes.
“You just like seeing characters in pain, don’t you?”
“I do not!” Tim protests, affronted. “I just think he’s a good character! With good development!”
“That’s what I’d say, too,” Wes teases.
Tim shakes his head, “You’re impossible. He’s just a good character! He’s so smart and awkward. What’s not to love?”
Wes gives a half-shrug, “I mean, I guess that’s fair. He is a good character. But I’m more of a Garcia person.”
“They really make the show,” Tim agrees. “Their dynamic is iconic.”
“Speaking of iconic….” Wes takes a deep breath disguised as a sigh. Okay, so if he were going to be interrogated, it would have happened by now. So it’s probably not happening unless he’s going to see a Bat on the fire escape tonight. But if he can just reveal a tiny bit of his hand—just a little smidge—maybe he can avoid suspect altogether.
“Yeah?”
“I have to ask,” Wes says nervously. “It’s definitely not my business, but yesterday, when I dropped off the coffees…. I kind of saw the picture of that villain? And I was wondering… who told Mr. Wayne that the villain had a sticker of a My Immortal quote? Who had to explain to him what My Immortal is?”
Because surely Tim knows, if not from having read the infamous fic then from doing research about the villain.
Tim smirks and says, “That’s the best part, Wes. Bruce already knew.”
He choked on air, “You’re kidding me!”
“I’m not. I’m really, really not. You didn’t hear this from me, but,” Tim pauses, giving a playful, sneaking look around for any listeners, and he whispers, “my brother Dick referenced it so much that Bruce read it himself.”
“Bruce Wayne. Read My Immortal.” The fucking Batman read My Immortal? Willingly?
“Oh yeah, he did.”
“Did… did he recognize the quote? Did he remember?”
“No, but he did when Dick said, ‘Damn, I hope Batman puts his middle finger up at that prep villain.’”
“Jesus fucking Christ.” Wes knows he’s getting a modified version of what really happened, but he can fill in the gaps. Nightwing quoted My Immortal to Batman. And Batman recognized it because he once read the fic in an effort to relate to his teenage son.
Well, vigilantes are human, too. Why shouldn’t Batman know who Vampire and Bloody Mary are?
The next few minutes pass in friendly conversation before their order name is called, and both get up to collect. Wes tries to get two out of the three carton holders, but Tim intercepts.
“Tim,” he says, half-chastising.
“I just like helping! And this is getting me out of a board meeting.”
Wes’s face screws up in distaste. “Well, that’s fair, then.”
They make their way back to the 73rd floor of Wayne Enterprises and they are hounded in the way that has become so expected for Wes. A new addition to the coffee delivery is Rebecca’s eyes lighting up upon seeing that Tim is helping Wes.
“Did you like last night’s meme, Mr. Drake?” Rebecca asks, collecting her venti iced mocha latte.
Tim nods, “I did. Nice work on the Photoshop. And the filming equipment should be down today.”
Wes watches as Rebecca does her best not to squeal in excitement, “Thank you, sir!”
He nods and turns to Wes, “I’ll see you later, yeah?” His black bangs do nothing to hide the way his eyes crinkle at the corners.
Wes nods wordlessly, his throat suddenly tight and full. Tim’s smile widens and he leaves for the elevator.
When the doors close on his figure, Rebecca jams her index and middle fingers into Wes’s ribs, “Oh my god, were you two on a coffee date?”
“Ow, Rebecca, what? No! He just wanted to escape the board.” Wes rubs his ribs comfortingly, his muscles stinging. “That hurt, what the hell?”
“Sorry!” She’s not sorry at all. “Do you think we can get him to do a TikTok for us?”
He spares a glance at the elevator, which has long since taken Tim up to whatever floor he haunts. “Maybe? It’d make sense, considering the whole CEO thing. Why wouldn’t he be in a TikTok at some point?”
“No reason,” she says, but there’s a fire in her eyes and a mischievous cut to her grin that she fails to hide behind her coffee. Wes’s gut curdles in dread.
“You terrify me.”
“Thanks! Now come to my office. You need to practice your lines for the TikTok.”
“I feel like my mom has to sign some kind of release form if I’m going to be on the WE TikTok,” he warns, but dutifully follows after her. “Also, you have a cubicle. Not an office.”
“Hush, or I’ll take away your stool. And your mom already signed one, so ha.”
“Hushing.” He mimes the action of locking his lips and throwing away the key.
“Ugh, you’re adorable.”
They get to the cubicle and each takes a seat, Rebecca immediately sorting through several stacks of papers before making a triumphant noise and handing him a sheet. Wes takes it and stares at it uncomprehendingly for a few seconds.
“Rebecca, this is just stage directions and the lines to that Cunk on Earth audio.”
She nods, “And if we get the TikTok approved fast enough, maybe we’ll even post it when the trend is still semi-popular.”
“And what will I be actually saying?”
“Don’t worry about that. Just focus on being able to lip sync.”
“Oh boy."
xxXxx
Wes had thought he would have at least a few days to get used to the idea of having his face plastered all over the internet. Unfortunately, it would seem he underestimated Rebecca’s work ethic when it came to something she wanted because she only made him do three retakes, and then she made quick work of editing. Wayne Enterprises' first-ever TikTok would be ready to go live in the morning with his mother’s and Tim’s approval.
The TikTok in question is Wes standing in the Wayne Enterprises lobby, smiling wide and happy at the camera when he first begins talking: “It’s hard to believe I’m walking through the ruins of the first ever city.” He pauses, drops the smile, and says, “Because I’m not: that’s in Iraq, which is miles away, and fucking dangerous.” Then, he holds up two cartons of coffee into the camera frame, all filled with (secretly) empty paper venti cups, and is swarmed by various WE employees who volunteered (or were coerced by Rebecca) to be in the TikTok.
Rebecca doesn’t let him see exactly how she subtitled the video, but he can guess. And sure enough, when the TikTok profile and video simultaneously go live the next day and Wes sees it, he is proven mostly right.
“It’s hard to believe I’m the new face of Wayne Enterprises’ official TikTok. Because I’m not: I’m just an intern, and I get the f*cking coffee.”
Rebecca had even captioned it as if he were the one writing and posting: It’s at least a paid internship. The words are then followed by a string of hashtags. Well, that just goes to show that you can’t trust corporations’ social media, even if they do try to come across as real and friendly and like a person who could be your friend. Parasocial relationships are dangerous, who knew?
“The likes and comments are coming in fast,” Rebecca says, staring down at the WE phone that Tim had sent down with the filming equipment to use for the WE TikTok. She’s also done more than she needed to with it, downloading other social media and logging into them on her personal profiles. Wes didn’t comment on it, even if he did think it was not the smartest move, but she said it was so she could get away with “studying” current trends easier.
“It is Wayne Enterprises,” he remarks. “It’d be like if, I dunno, if Superman finally downloaded TikTok. But, like, this is more corporate greed than ‘protecting humanity’ type of thing.”
“That’s true,” she nodded. “But I mean, the Waynes are pretty generous. I make more here than I would anywhere else.”
“Yeah, fair. And paid internships aren’t exactly common, either.”
Wes wouldn’t admit it, but while he’d given up on proving the Fenton-Phantom conspiracy and other identities, he did still have a bit of a stalking problem. So when Google sent him a news alert about the Waynes making a press statement about the break-in, he immediately hit it to read the article while Rebecca read new comments on TikTok aloud for him to hear.
The Waynes Speak About Break-in At WE
The article discusses how grateful they were to Batman and his flock for stopping the break-in, even if they hadn’t caught the new villain. Really, it’s just a puff piece about the Princes of Gotham’s perception of the Knights of Gotham. And considering Wes’s insider knowledge, the article comes across as a little condescending and self-praising, and he’s close to exiting the website when a throwaway comment near the end of the article catches his eye, and he reads on.
VV: And are you at liberty to say what the villain was looking for? Is it something we should have our eyes on?
BW: [laughs] Well, it’s something that has been spoken about before, I believe? I think Tim could tell you more about it than me. He’s definitely got the brains. You know, when he was—
TDW: Haha, thanks, B! I can’t give too much away because the lead scientist on the project, Dr. Michelle Amir, will get upset, but I can say that we’re expecting a breakthrough in renewable energy.
VV: Are you sure that’s all you can tell us?
TDW: I’m afraid so. Dr. Amir is very protective of her research.
VV: And it would seem with good reason! It’s a good thing Gotham’s own….
…And the interview returns to preaching the Batfamily’s praises.
Wes has to roll his eyes at the Brucie Wayne persona trying to take every conceivable opportunity to gush about his children.
Still, he recognizes that the article was published just a few hours after the TikTok started to go viral. Any reports about the WE break-in will be buried under tabloids dissecting the new TikTok profile and what this means for future WE advertisements. Clever, and exactly what he expects from the Bats.
As he exits the website, a text notification pops up at the top of his screen. It’s from Tucker Foley and all it says is, “YOU!” in all caps.
He sighs as a rush of other texts hit his phone from his classmates at Casper High, some even including the link to the TikTok.
And so it begins.

Minority Ambassadorship
I need to get something off my chest and it’s been bothering me for a while but I could never figure out the right words. So I’m just going to shoot my shot and clarify if need be. I’m all for representation and all that but the way it’s been handled in recent years.
The thing that helped me finally click all the pieces together was the recent Spider-Man game. While Peter has a proper adventure Miles is not. He’s doing side jobs and while obviously showing he’s part of the community, his story also falls into a dangerous trap I keep seeing. They (the writers) make him the ambassador of his culture no one is the entirety of their culture but writers keep doing this stuff.
White folks in stories have the freedom to be anything, like anything and feel anything. They’re organically made all the time. But the moment a different race takes the stage they’re chained to the cultural stereotypes. Even Wakanda has just become “Africa the Country” theirs no uniqueness to it, it’s populated by every conceivable African Stereotype. Heck I remember a few years back a marvel comic was made with Miles being made the new Thor and IMMEDIATELY Asgard turned into a Ghetto and it was the most racist joke I’ve seen in a while.
This isn’t new by any means. More often than not when an American enters an anime they’re stereotypically American. Wearing the American flag, usually blond for some reason, constantly swearing and won’t shut up and if we’re feeling REALLY spicy we can make them big and scary.
That habit of writers though can create a feeling of “otherness” to anyone that isn’t you and can actually reinforce stereotypes. You’re not your culture and you shouldn’t be pressured into that mindset. You can absolutely be influenced by it but people aren’t just ambassadors to their culture. That’s ignorant to the highest degree.
Considering many games that do this are affiliated with Sweet Baby Inc. I’m not surprised but it just means we should fight harder against it.
Sweet Baby Inc. is one of those companies that’s basically “sensitivity writers” they show up to punch up stories to make them more “inclusive” but what this usually means is make them subtly racist, homophobic and authoritarian and barring that making a story less interesting. They’re involved with almost every failure within recent types in the gaming market including Suicide Squad and Last of Us 2. They even worked on Spider-Man 2 and the Miles Morales Game. Both of which you can see what I’m talking about by making Miles the Ambassador of Black People and Harlem. They were even involved with the Spanish Translation of Spider-Man 2 which upset that entire part of the world because they used words like Latinx which is considered a slur and an act of colonialism as white people try to force them to change their own language.
Sweet Baby Inc. and its employees are a bunch of racists, homophobes and Authoritarians pulling the greatest grift of all time by pretending to not hate those people and acting like they don’t want to control how people think. The mask has come off frequently and only recently has it come off in such spectacular fashion that a lot of the internet is starting to notice myself included.
In conclusion though, don’t be a racist and let characters of other races and sexual orientation be actual people instead of being the ambassadors of their people. Don’t support bigots that pretend to be on your side and be mindful of people like that. Also don’t buy anything Sweet Baby Inc touched because they’re all of those things.

would you be interested in some Arthur Pym Thoughts, perhaps
Glad you asked!! i have three thots that have been going around my mind since yesterday, let’s goooo 🤓💗
Sugar daddy. That man makes a shit ton of money as a lawyer for a rich family, there’s no doubt in that, so i really think that he would enjoy having someone a lot younger than him to spoil. Arthur literally doesn’t care about spending a lot of money buying you whatever you want, and in return you just need to be hooked to his arm on important events, keep him company, and spread your legs whenever he tells you to.
Corruption kink. Do you see that dark and intimidating aura?? And his grey hair??? it’s obvious that he has a lot of experience in life, more than an average man cuz we see him dealing with a lot of fucked up stuff. So Arthur is the type of man to enjoy breaking someone sweet and innocent, showing you what an experienced man like him can do.
Glove kink. I don’t even need to explain this one. He wears black gloves often and he loves fingering you with them, making you suck his fingers, or slap your pretty face ;)
#idk if you wanted smut but im being nasty anyways 💀#arthur pym smut#mark hamill smut#the fall of the house of usher smut#arthur pym x reader

Pretty Woman AU (pt 4️⃣)
Warning: Feelings will be hurt
Full Collection
“He did what?” Nakia snatched the sun glasses from her face.
“I know..he says he was jealous.” Okoye mindlessly looked through the racks of the clothing store, picking things off the hangers with ease.
“Bullshit. You don’t do that. Jealous or not.”
“Well, he’s been good since then.” Okoye shrugged, sparing Attuma from Nakia’s wrath. “He dropped her as his lawyer, he’s been apologizing for the past two days-“
“Did you kiss him?” Nakia asks as she picked up a pair of shoes and eyed her friend.
Okoye’s mind drifted. She did kiss him, right after he stuffed her clothes back into the closet: After he dropped to his knees and devoured her with the most passion she had ever seen.
After he pulled her dress over her head, they were face to face. So close. She had caressed his cheek, stained with the after glow of her slick.
His lips were red and plump, she remembered wanting to ruin him (in the best way possible).
He’d whispered a soft, “I’m sorry. I hurt you and it’ll never happen again.”
She had nodded her head and smiled. “You’re okay for now. When this is over, you’ll have a lot of sucking up to do.”
“Yes ma’am.” Then, he lowered his face so their lips just grazed, testing the waters.
Okoye giggled under him, lifting her head to meet his lips and connecting them with the sweetest moan he ever heard.
“Oh my god you did!” Nakia gasped like she had seen the flash back as well.
“What? I-I-“
“Nooo Okoye come on! Where’s your edge?” The woman huffed, looking at her friend in disbelief.
“I don’t know..I like him.”
“You like him??”
“He’s a good guy! I deserve a good guy.” Okoye started to make her way to the register, piling hers and Nakia’s things on top of the counter.
“You do. You deserve the greatest guy. And if you think that it’s him…well to hell with it. You’ve been with worse….and broker.” Nakia beamed at the credit card as Okoye swiped it.
———
When she got back to the room, she dropped her bags to the couch and her purse to the floor.
“Back already?” Attuma came from the bedroom, typing away on his phone and lacking a shirt. “Did you enjoy yourself?”
“Yup. Spent lots of money..”
“Good. Are you happy?” He pulled her into him by her waist, lowering his head to fan kisses to her neck.
“If this is you trynna see if you’re out of the doghouse yet, the answer is no. Try harder.”
Attuma chuckled against her skin. “Okay. I’ve decided not to buy Namor’s company.”
He could feel her tense against him. “You were right. It was kind of cruel to want more than what I’ve got. What I have is enough, it’s more than enough.”
“Good for you, Mr. man.” Okoye brushed a hand over his hair. “That was a big decision. “
“Thank you Okoye.”
He lifted his head, pressing a kiss to her nose before he pulled away. “I love you.” He smiled, not expecting an answer back.
She tried to say it back but like other times, words got caught in her throat and all she could do was sigh.
Tomorrow, she thought. She’ll say it before she leaves tomorrow.
“Attuma?” She caught his hand before he walked too far away.
“Hm?”
“Can we go out somewhere…just us?”
“Of course. What do you have in mind?”
The botanical garden. He never thought she could get more mesmerizing than she already was but watching her run her hands over fields of flowers made his heart ache.
He hated that he’d have to let her go in under 24 hours.
“Oh my god.” Okoye stooped to take a closer look at the expanse of amaryllis. “They’re beautiful.”
“Yeah. They are. They your favorite?”
“No. Gladiolus is my favorite. They mean integrity and strength. They fit me, don’t you think?” She smiled. “Hey, I wonder if they have some.”
She got up quick, grabbing his hand and tugging him along as she scaled the garden for the light purple flowers.
When she found them, she squealed and stooped to see them. “Okoye…”
“Yes?”
“How would you like to come back to New York with me? I can get you an apartment, a job if you want it. But I can take care of you.” He stooped down with her. “I don’t want to let you go.”
“What about what I want? Huh? You know you really know how to put a girl in an awkward position.”
“Is that not what you want?”
“No? I don’t know Attuma! When I first met you all I saw were dollar signs and a way to pay my rent.”
“And now?”
Okoye shrugged, her eyes watering as she looked at him. “I’m scared to find out…”
“Baby-“
“I don’t want to be here anymore.”
“Okay. We can go back-“
“No. Take me home. Right back where you found me.”

W.I.P Wednesday
Posted with ten minutes to spare! I was tagged by @adelaidedrubman
This is part of my unfinished first (very) rough draft of my FC5/TMA crossover fic in which Skunk, Judas, Mary and Daisy all have statements sent into the institute. I'm still trying to get a hang of Judas's voice and I'll admit this is mostly an infodump I will need to clean up a lot in coming revisions. Also tumblr is going to eat my formatting which is important to the aesthetic of the fic :(
STATEMENT #0160402
[CLICK] [PAGES SHUFFLE, SOME FALL ON THE FLOOR AND THE ARCHIVIST GROANS AS HE BENDS TO PICK THEM UP]
ARCHIVIST Paper files…not that I don’t appreciate physical media however my office is already a catastrophe. This could have easily been a digital file. [SIGH] ARCHIVIST Alright let’s see. ARCHIVIST Statement of Judas King, regarding a specific interaction with Gulf War veteran Jacob Seed in Whitetail State Park in Montana. Original statement given April 2nd, 2016. Audio Recording by Jonathan Sims, Head Archivist of the Magnus Institute, London.
ARCHIVIST(STATEMENT) I don’t know why I'm writing to you. I mean, I don’t think I believe in these things and I found this place online when searching for similar experiences. London is very far away so I can’t imagine you guys care about fucked up murderers in rural Montana. I might as well just say it, maybe typing it out will help me to rationalize or comprehend it. I have lived in these mountains my entire life. Seventeen years spent surrounded by their ancient, solid presence. They’re my most important constant which, I think, is why this experience has shaken me so much. I haven’t felt comfortable here since…Well since it happened. It’s not like strange things don’t happen. Strange things are bound to happen in secluded places far from civilization. Mostly our strange goings ons are easily explainable. Things like teenagers leaving carvings in trees or making weird sounds at night, wasting deer syndrome causing deer to hold their heads at weird angles and get far too skinny or people simply being too alone for too long and their minds creating faces where there hadn’t been faces before. My point is that it’s not a rare occurrence for people to claim the paranormal in the park. This was not an easily explainable mishap. For a little bit of backstory I am from Hope County Montana. We are a very rural community in south western Montana. The most interesting thing to have happened here in years is when Grace Armstrong won a medal for sharpshooting in 2004. So when three men from Atlanta, Georgia rolled into town it was pretty noteworthy. The Seed Brothers. They brought a lot of chaos with them. Joseph, the middle one, came claiming to be a preacher but he’s not like any preacher I’ve ever seen. Then there was John who I think was the youngest. He was some big shot lawyer back in Georgia. He started buying out our farms and logging companies, slapping the name of their church on everything. Project at Eden's Gate. They call Joseph ‘The Father’ and think he’s some messiah trying to save them from the end of the world or something. It was all weird from the beginning but nothing violent. Not until a few months ago. Their oldest brother’s name is Jacob. He was a soldier in The Gulf War, army I think. You can see it too. I’d always thought that when people talk about soldiers having a ‘far away look’ that they were being…I don’t know, dramatic? Yet when I look at Jacob Seed I can tell he’s still in the war. He’s still reliving whatever gave him those gnarly scars that seem to over take the whole right side of his face. That is about where my sympathies end.

➫ taehyung x reader
ah the cliche miscommunication trope. taehyung is a famous painter and is usually followed by his manager who is at his beck and call.
⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆
Hatred is a strong feeling that plagues humans and motivates them to act out. Hatred is usually too strong of a word or at least it is according to my father. I often opted for strongly dislike instead. Hatred can only be used for the person in my life, my neighbor. To be fair, who plays classical music at 3 o’clock in the morning? Who plays the saxophone on their balcony? Who makes our entire apartment floor reek of acrylic paint? Only my neighbor, it seems like I am the only one who holds this type of ill feeling as I hear the older ladies from a different floor gossiping about the casanova upstairs.
“I heard that he’s moved here from abroad and is studying American life for a new art piece” One says smugly.“I heard he’s being commissioned by many museums!” “I hear- ” Their voices fade as the elevator doors close and I roll my eyes. After what feels like eternity from a long day I enter the apartment as the stench of paint invades my senses. “Taehyung, mind telling me why the old ladies from downstairs are gossiping about you?” I chastise as I set down the Chinese takeout box on the table.
“Not my fault that I’m irresistible” he says with a wink as he comes from around the large canvas. “Oh you brought food too! Ugh you know I often think to myself, ‘What would I do without you?’ then I realize you’re stuck with me and those thoughts are useless” he sarcastically remarks with a smug grin.
As I resist the urge to scream I repeat the calming exercises my therapist taught me, in your nose out your mouth aaaand repeat. With a weak smile I nod and begin setting up the food.
“You know you should be a lot nicer because I’m your manager! I don’t voluntarily babysit you, buy you food, buy your groceries or even walk your dog…” I say as my head points to the fluffy pomeranian sleeping in the grandiose dog bed next to the couch.
“Yes but isn’t that what they call perks! You’re like a built-in best friend from the company, I mean imagine how lonely I’d be if I didn’t have you!” he says with a pout as he faces me. His long black wavy hair swept across his forehead with various colors of acrylic paint decorating his shirt with a dash of sky blue on his cheek as his eyes crinkle as laughter erupts from his boxy smile.
“I could always ask Ivy to switch me out you know, she adores me” I threaten as his eyes focus back on the canvas and not on my burning cheeks.
The first time I met Taehyung was five years ago in college. We had an art class together and he was the student who was gifted and excelled without trying. I on the other hand did not and opted for appreciating the art. He eventually got accepted into the same company I was managing at and I became his manager. He has a tall build and very wide shoulders, his tan skin contrasts perfectly with his dark raven hair that is hardly ever styled and always overgrown. He claims it’s a part of his trademark. His light brown eyes are framed by unfairly long eyelashes. It wasn’t necessarily Taehyung’s appearance that intrigued me, it was his artwork. His mother died at a young age and his father was an alcoholic after her death that led him to spend most of his time with his grandmother. She taught him many art techniques from all the places she’s traveled. He incorporates feelings and places into one. His debut art piece was a painting of the Leaning Tower of Pisa but it was held up by a small boy, it represented how he felt the whole world’s responsibility was put on him after his mother’s death. It was instantly a hit and has now earned him the title of one of the best artists and the company decided to splurge on everything for the artist that made them known. It’s not that I hate him per say I think it’s the implications of him and how he doesn’t listen and makes my life a hundred times more stressful. He was right when he said I was his only friend and only a slight pang of pity comes from that because I know it’s true. He has difficulty making friends albeit his very sociable and charismatic personality.
As I enter Taehyung’s apartment excitement courses through my veins, I go straight to him and announce the great news Ivy told me over the phone minutes prior.
“You’re opening a new exhibition in Osaka, Japan!” I announce happily as I watch his face drain of color and the paintbrush fall to the floor.
“Taehyung,” I murmur “W-what’s wrong? I thought you wanted a new exhibition, you have so many works ready fo-”
“I’m not doing it” he says curtly and standing up. “B-but-”
“NO you’re not hearing me Yn, I am not doing this” he says vehemently storming out of the room. I stand alone in the studio feeling tears threatening to spill as I gaze up at the ceiling.
Taehyung sits in his room staring at the picture of his grandmother and his younger self in France. He smiles sadly at the picture, a pang of regret bubbles within his chest as he remembers lashing out on Yn. Her face crumpled in pain and confusion clouds his thoughts and he feels bad. He didn’t know how to communicate the fact he hasn’t been to Japan since his grandmother died, he swore he would never go back which is why he’s traveled the world trying to forget about his past. After his mother died his father turned into an alcoholic trying to drown the memories of her, which included Taehyung. He often wandered by himself around the neighborhood until he came to his grandmother’s house. His grandmother traveled the world due to her love for the arts and taught him the many art techniques she had learned. His grandmother was the pillar in his roughly unstable life, although she wasn’t his real grandmother he considered her as his real grandmother. She was just a friendly grandmother that looked after all the children in the small neighborhood where he grew up in Japan. She was an old single woman who said she was too busy living her life to get married and settle down. Her name was Hiromi and she treasured Taehyung because he reminded her so much of herself. He was just thankful someone was there to look after him at such a young age and he owes a lot of it to Hiromi. She made his dark childhood happy and inspired him to continue doing what he loved. At age 19 Hiromi died leaving Taehyung without a reason to stay in Japan. The day after her funeral he went to travel to all the places she told him about.
I knew seeing Taehyung after the incident would be awkward but not this awkward. As Ivy nudges my shoulder in efforts to help me stay awake during the company meeting I can’t help but let my gaze wander to Taehyung who seems to have a very easy time paying attention. The CEO continues to gloat about the company’s newest accomplishments and welcoming yet another promising artist. Applaud ensues as an attractive young man stands before everyone and introduces himself. The new artist’s name is Ryu and he mainly works with clay molding as he showcases his work. Mr. Lin, our CEO, slaps the artist on the back obviously very proud of the new addition.
“And now the one who will be overseeing your work will be none other than Ivy and if you have any questions your manager is Yn.” Mr. Lin says proudly and dismisses the meeting. As soon as Mr.Lin dismisses the meeting, I run to Ryu.
“Well well well mind telling me why you’re here!” I exclaim as he brings me into a hug.
“You know I needed a new company after helping out at the restaurant and I remember you saying you’d help me out” he says cheekily with a blinding smile as I nod understandingly.
Ryu was my childhood best friend and cousin. Our family is very close because they operate a restaurant together that serves the best fried chicken. I remember growing up within the four walls of that restaurant and pulling pranks on our parents. Ryu is set a bit higher than me with sleek, slicked back hair. He always dresses up and believes he’s the most charming person in the building. Yet with his arrogant personality he’s always been there for me and has someone inherited the artful skill that somehow skipped me.
“Why the long face Taehyung?” Ivy inquires with a quirk of her brow.
“Sigh I do not understand Mr. Lin at all, Yn can barely handle me so why add another artist?” He says with genuine confusion written across his features.
“Well for starters all the other managers are handling exhibitions, Yn also has other artists besides you, you know that… right? Plus Ryu and Yn already know each other so it’s easier for them to begin working right away. Although that’s not why you’re asking, you’re jealous!” She exclaims as she pokes his arm.
“Not jealous, I have no idea where that idea even came from. Absolutely ridiculous like honestly… But what do you mean “already know each other”?” He says in air quotes but as soon as Ivy opens her mouth to respond I approach them. Walking up with a beaming smile full of excitement and an equally excited Ryu that leaves a sour taste in Taehyung’s mouth. Dismissing Taehyung’s attitude Ryu introduces himself.
“Hello my name is Ryu, it’s a pleasure to meet you both.” he introduces politely with a blinding smile sweeping Ivy off of her feet.
“The pleasure is all mine. I’ll be here if you have any questions or concerns or anything” she smiles shyly as Taehyung rolls his eyes and I elbow him.
“Please excuse us for a moment, Ryu I’ll meet you afterwards!” I say hurriedly pushing Taehyung in the tight hall. I glare at him expecting an answer for his odd behavior but instead I’m met with silence.
“What’s wrong now?” I ask exasperated, “Like I have no idea what you want from me honestly. You blew up on me but you’re mad? Plus you’re being mean and this isn't like you. So what’s up?”
“Look, I'm sorry. I didn’t mean to blow up on you or act like this it- it’s just” he murmurs with his head hung low. I duck my head to see his misty eyes and give him a hug to chase away the tears threatening to spill. “Hiromi’s death anniversary is tomorrow… and my mother’s birthday is next week” he says with a sniff as I feel my eyes well up.
“You dummy why didn’t you just tell me?” I murmur as I hug him tighter. “I know you haven’t been back to Japan since Hiromi’s death. Will you be okay for the exhibition? We don’t have to do it you know, I’m sure Ivy w-”
He cuts me off with a short press to my lips and his signature boxy smile with a blush atop his cheeks.
“I’ll be alright, I have you with me after all” he smiles at me. I faintly hear Ivy whooping from the conference room and I laugh.“Okay if you’re up for it” I say gazing up at him “I will always be with you.” “I hope so,” he says with a nod of his head, “By the way… who's that Ryu guy?” I shake my head laughing lightly as I walk away and he chases after me asking.

Void Post
I don’t know that I want to talk about any of this, but it’s hard to keep it inside. My therapist has me writing notes and stuff to get out all the stuff that’s in my head that I’m not sure I want to say to anybody, but I am also the type who really just likes to bitch and get things out of my system. And today’s been a little disappointing.
I have these two issues on my mind that I can’t shake. I am doing better with them than say, this time last year… but only in that I’m handling the situations better and understanding and accepting better, but the situations themselves have not changed at all.
One aspect is that my living situation is not very good, I hate the apartment I live in, but it’s being rented to me as a favor from my best friend. It’s not a dynamic I’m very comfortable with, but I am appreciative, and my boyfriend and I are looking to buy a house now. This has naturally only caused strain on our relationship and there’s been a lot of strife in it already.
He’s offended, more or less, that I don’t want him on the mortgage; but that I’d want and need him to contribute to the monthly expenses of having a house until maybe later on down the line we can refinance together, but now isn’t the time to go in on it together. Unless he bought in, but of course he doesn’t want do that. So I’m getting fed up with that - and on top of that there’s no inventory I’m willing to move forward on. We did see a house yesterday, made an offer, and another one was selected. And so we’re back at square one.
In terms of his… attitude about this, I don’t really care. And it isn’t bringing me down. At one point, it did, but what I’m kind of dealing with at this point is understanding he and everyone I love are having their own hard times dealing with life and the world and how shitty everything is. So I’m trying to be patient, but I have my limits and I’ve gotten a lot better at setting boundaries and standing up for myself.
And when you do this, not everyone likes it… you see. For instance, a very good friend of mine Ive had for 9 years recently unfriended me on Facebook without speaking to me about any problems between us. This is a fairly common occurrence in my life.
I’ve been a friend of his through a lot of years and his I’ll and downs and partners and all that. I was friends with him through his transition and a bunch of family drama and the most recently - a horrible break up. He and his partner had no business being together anyway and he’ll be happier without them in the long run, but I still feel for him and wanted to help. I let him come over and cry on my couch while I was supposed to be working, I took him out to lunches and dinners because his partner drained him of just about everything from his money to his life force. He’s just a different guy now.
While dealing with that his family drama amped up. I kept trying to talk him through it and help where I could, but as is customary with these types of people there was one day I had to firmly tell him no because I was too busy dealing with my own stuff and then the communication started to wane before he ultimately just unfriended me.
And the thing is - I think I’ll actually be better off now knowing we are not friends. He was someone who wanted to take advantage of my kindness, I think, and I can’t handle another friend like that. I have to check my own generosity because I get taken advantage of like this.
It then circles back to - I take this man out to lunches and and friend dates because he was so miserable and I get unfriended with no explanation. I have a similar friend who would complain about how poor he was, so I got him a good job working at my company and helped him out a little while he was “getting on his feet” and now he’s put 50k down on a house while I’m still living in a shit hole apartment.
We all make our choices. I know I’ve made mine. And I’m trying to accept the outcome of them all, but to me it just means I can’t and won’t be generous with people ever again.
