@mermay_official Day 31: #Potion ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🤔What is your favourite Harry Potter book moment? I’ll tell you mine at the end of this post. Funny story about this one… I’ve actually finished the drawing a few days ago — on the 31st. Then, when I looked back at it after a couple of hours I realized I forgot to make them into mermaids. 😂 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You can see the original sketch if you swipe. This challenge was not easy and I’m exhausted! I have “I’m still standing! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!” repeating in my head — but another voice argues: “Barely.” 😁 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So… I’m going to take a few days off. Get some sleep. Go for walks. Read more of the books I bought. I am a classically trained animator, but I spent the last decade as an author/illustrator and portrait painter. I would like to get back into storyboarding. 🦠 I miss being on a team. 🦠 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ According to my research my portfolio needs to include 2-3 scene sequences. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It also suggested I should create my own storyboard of something famous. If you’ve seen my 2016 Inktober Sketchbook, you know my dream is to direct and produce my own version of The Phantom of the Opera. 🦩Flamingo Party🦩 Tile 3/3 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ [Continued from previous post.] ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ One day, after working on this painting for several weeks, I woke up unable to use my right arm. I have never been more terrified in my life. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I damaged my rotator cuff and something else just by painting all day. Painting! I would understand the injury if I lifted weights, but I mostly worked with a size 6, short, round brush the previous day. I’m in my 30s! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Because of the pandemic it took months for me to able to see a physiotherapist. Then, it took more months of exercises to get my arm to lift above 90 degrees and turn to the side. All that time I was unable to paint on the canvas, though, thankfully, I was still able to work at the table. Though it’s almost there, my right arm is still not back to normal. Even my left is showing sympathy pains. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Now, I’m trying to tell all the artists I know to stretch before painting, and to set up timers so they could get out of The Zone every couple of hours to do more stretching and exercise. I don’t want anyone to share my experience. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ With the painting finally finished, I understand why all those masters I admired had apprentices. I will never work on a painting this size again! 🤔Unless someone offers me an obscene amount of money I could just not say “No!” to. 🤗 The key word here is OBSCENE. 😈 Horror Angel 😇 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This is a commission for a wood-working artist who wants to use the image for beautiful boxes that hold role-playing game cards. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When I was a teen I always wanted to play D&D, but none of my friends were as nerdy. 😁 I also longed to dress up in costume for Comic Con, but once again I was alone — I also cannot make costumes. 🤗 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Since the game is copyrighted, my challenge was to redesign the character and make her my own, while still including enough information to clue in the fans to her identity. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I really enjoyed all the detail. 👑 Every Girl Is A Princess: MEGARA 🌺 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I finally finished the colour test, what do you think? 🤔 Is there anything I could do to make it better? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The final painting will be finished in watercolor and ink, so the result will be different. What do you see when you look at the entire painting (last image in the carousel)? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ At first, I thought that the main flamingo is the one staring directly at us, but as I continue to paint, I think that the main flamingo is the one I’m currently working on.
