Thor: The Odinforce
AU for Thor Ragnarok part 2
part 1 - https://www.tumblr.com/loveloki555/750039954682445824/thor-the-odinforce?source=share
Tumblr media
''How do you know that?'' Thor asked as he approached her.
''I was with him in this hour, he had last wish
 before that
'' she said, looking at Thor without fear. Loki was there, trying to be diplomatic. Let's hope Thor doesn't spoil everything as usual.
''What was his last wish?'' both of them asked, in sync.
''He wanted to reconcile with his wife
I gave him access to talk to her spirit form,'' the woman said.
''It's impossible
such a spell is not possible.'' Loki looked at her.
''Not for humans, not for ordinary gods, but I know how to do it,'' she said.
''I would know, I would know such a spell,'' Loki said.
''No, not you
because this spell is more than seidr,'' she said.
Loki looked at her. The woman was incredibly beautiful
She was essence of beauty. Could she trick the gates of Valhalla itself with her beauty and do the impossible. He would do anything to take back his last words. Frigga was his mother. If he could ask
he would give anything to talk for a while

Tumblr media
''Did Odin see her ?''Loki asked. Thor was curious too, because he was silent. Not easy thing for God of Thunder.
'Yes
I made this spell and after then
he died
I buried him in a boat on the river until his body returned to Valhalla'' she said.
So he died like his. Mighty Odin died with one woman, who buried him. He was not buried with Asgard's honors.
''How did he die?'' Thor asked, looking at Loki.
''It was, well
I don't call it peaceful death
it was more like full of regret
and maybe I told also many sharp words
but in the end he found peaceïżœïżœafter meeting his wife'' she said.

Note
do you have thor reading recs/guides/particular run or era to recommmend to get to know and appreciate the characters?
OOOH YES THANK YOU FOR ASKING
some thor fans and loki fans may disagree with what im gonna say here BUT. i think the run which best encapsulates why i love the character and the universe, as well as having essentially a very long guided tour through some of the most significant points of the thor sub-universe within the larger MU, is jason aaron's huge thor run from 2012 to 2019 (along with everything else happening in the thor universe at that time, covered by al ewing, kieron gillen, and marguerite bennett in a few also very good spinoffs).
this is the series where the God Butcher comes from, where Jane Foster becomes Thor, where loki is canon genderfluid in Agent of Asgard, where thor fights capitalism, and much more. it's not perfect, especially in terms of characterisation when some characters get thrown between their own miniseries and the main run, but it really encapsulates what I love about thor in his comics, and it's the run that, over the course of collecting the five huge paperback collections u can get it in, made me fall in love with this sub-section of the MU
proper reading order under the cut, plus brief explanations of crossover tie-ins and so on. it looks complicated but it's basically just cos marvel loves to re-start with a new #1 every so often to keep sales up, and because i think you should read the accompanying spinoffs. if you don't want to read the excess spinoffs (although agent of asgard is VERY good) just stick to things with 'thor' in the name.
Thor: God of Thunder (2012) #1-17
Loki: Agent of Asgard (2014) #1-5
Thor: God of Thunder (2012) #18-24
then the Original Sin event happens, the Watcher dies and a bunch of secrets are revealed...
Original Sin (2014) #5.1-5.5 (essentially a loki & thor miniseries tie-in, relevant to both series)
and THEN when Original Sin continues, Nick Fury (evil now, don't ask) whispers something into Thor's ear, and Thor drops his hammer on the moon and cannot pick it up! oh no.
Thor: God of Thunder (2012) #25
because the marvel universe never stops having big events, an event called AXIS happens immediately after, and results in a bunch of 'heroes' and 'villains' being 'inverted' - the 'villains' becomes 'heroes' and vice versa. both thor and loki are involved in this, covered in:
Loki: Agent of Asgard (2014) #6-11
and if you're wondering what happened to Angela after that Original Sin tie-in:
Angela: Asgard's Assassin #1-6
Thor (2014) #1-8 and Annual #1
THEN Secret Wars happens, basically 8 month timeskip and the multiverse is ending and another earth is about to crash into the main earth. don't worry about it.
Loki: Agent of Asgard (2014) #12-17
Secret Wars continues, the multiverse died and a new 'Battleworld' is created. basically it's a patchwork of all previous universes held together by Doctor Doom (don't worry about it). Marvel cancelled every single book and everything to turned into battleworld tie-ins:
Thors (2015) #1-4
1602 Witch Hunter Angela (2015) #1-4
... and then everything goes back to normal.
Mighty Thor (2015) #1-6
Angela: Queen of Hel (2015) #1-7
Mighty Thor (2015) #7-14
Unworthy Thor (2016) #1-5
Mighty Thor (2015) #15-22
Generations: Unworthhy Thor & Mighty Thor #1
Mighty Thor (2015) #23, #700-706 (they reverted to legacy numbering, don't worry, you didn't miss 677 issues of the series)
Mighty Thor: At the Gates of Valhalla #1
Thor (2018) #1-11
and then The War of the Realms begins, the big thor-centric crossover which ends the run. the issues of that main series and the concurrent thor series should be read in release order which looks like this:
War of the Realms #1
War of the Realms #2
Thor #12
War of the Realms #3
War of the Realms #4
Thor #13
War of the Realms #5
War of the Realms #6
Thor #14-16
and a concluding epilogue miniseries:
King Thor (2019) #1-4

The Mighty Thor At the Gates of Valhalla #1
Since Jane didn’t actually die (stay dead), I wasn’t sure what to expect from this issue. It was a bit of reminiscing (not too much though) and a lot of teasing for the War of Realms coming to Earth. It said next year so I assume that’ll be next summer’s big event. That’ll be fun! It’ll be the first event where I actually read everything leading up to it before the actual event. But I’m kinda surprised this war hasn’t come to earth sooner. But back to this issue! I enjoyed the Goddesses of Thunder. Particularly the shorter (younger?), spunky one. Atli. She was fun. I could easily read a series about her. But yeah. This was a fun read. I’m glad they made an effort to say that Jane is still important and has a big role to play soon. That’s good to hear!

Thor: Love and Thunder is based on Jason Aaron's Mighty Thor, and some people might like to read the comics a movie is inspired by before watching it, so I read through every single comic Jane Foster has been in since Thor: God of Thunder (2012) to create this reading list. Those are my personal recommendations and this is by no means an ultimate guide! Under the cut is the written list + some extra comments.
This list is accurate as of September 14 2021.
Essential reading is bolded, I considered essential the books where Jane's the main character, important character moments, and events that directly affected the main books. I did my best to order these chronologically!
Thor: God of Thunder (2012) #12, #24: Jason Aaron's first Thor book!
Thor (2014)
Avengers: Ultron Forever, New Avengers: Ultron Forever, Uncanny Avengers: Ultron Forever
Unbeatable Squirrel Girl (2015) #7-8
Secret Wars
Thors
Mighty Thor (2016) #1-7
Unbelievable Gwenpool #2: The art style on this one is just delightful.
All-New, All-Different Avengers #1-12: I'm not too fond of this book to be honest, I don't like how she's portrayed here, but it certainly happened.
Vote Loki
Mighty Thor (2016) #8-702: Unfortunately there are not actually 700+ issues of this comic, they just changed how they numbered them at some point.
Civil War II #1-3: Honestly just skip all the Civil War II stuff, especially if you're coming from the movies, I only included it in the list cause it affects ANAD Avengers.
All-New, All-Different Avengers #15: Jane is the focus of this issue, it's my favorite from ANAD Avengers.
Civil War II #4-6
Avengers (2016) #1-8
The Unworthy Thor #4: This book, also by Jason Aaron, happens at the same time as Mighty Thor and while it affects that story, Jane is only in this issue and only in a couple pages.
Doctor Strange (2015) #17, #18
Secret Empire #0
Avengers (2016) #9: This is another Jane-focused issue and it's fantastic, I think it's a really key character moment.
Secret Empire #9, #10
Generations: The Unworthy Thor & The Mighty Thor
Avengers (2016) #11, #672-674
Champions (2016) #13-15
Doctor Strange (2015) #381
Avengers (2016) #675-690
Mighty Thor (2016) #703-706
Mighty Thor: At the Gates of Valhalla
Thor (2018) #1, #8, #9, #11: Odinson takes back the mantle of Thor and Jane becomes a secondary character, however there are still some cool character moments.
War of the Realms
Thor (2018) #14-15
War of the Realms Omega
Thor (2018) #16
Valkyrie: Jane Foster
King Thor #4
Incoming!
Thor (2020) #10-13
King in Black: Return of the Valkyries
The Mighty Valkyries
Avengers (2018) #40-44
Thor (2020) #16
Thor & Loki: Double Trouble #3-4
Thor: The Worthy [C Story]
