Finally got around to watching Thor Love and Thunder.
I gotta say I kinda hate the new direction they are going with Thor now. When they first added humor to his character it was great! Except now they are painting him as some man who can’t rub two brain cells together.
Like the way he demolishes that world sacred temple without any consideration or remorse after like. Is he stupid now? Is that all he is? He can’t be serious at all now?
Also Jane coming back was weird and sort of pointless. Like she came back for what? To clear up why she left?? Also the whole montage of them dating was weiiird. It’s like all of it was tying so hard to be funny that it just turned bad.
I liked the possibility of him having a kid, but again, not if it’s going to be done as a shit joke. Like him taking her into full on war at age what 6? 10? Not here for it.
And now what we've got Zeus and Hercules to go up against??? Would have been more fun to see other Norse gods but okay. Feels like it’s reaching for a reason to keep going.
All in all the best part was Matt Damon coming back haha

I don't have, like, a general ranking for Marvel movies. It's more of a these are the ones I want to see again and then everything else.
And there are very few Marvel movies I want to see again. Sometimes there are moments of movies I want to go back to, but I don't usually want to sit down and see the whole movie again. (This is true with the Disney+ shows as well, although they tend to be more likely to be things I want to see again - but even WandaVision, I tend to skip Monica's background episode, although that might be different now.)
My top three are still DSMOM, TLAT, and Ant-Man and the Wasp. Not about whether they're good movies or not or if the writing is great, just. those are really the only Marvel movies I've wanted to go back and see again for fun. There's no particular order on those - DSMOM is probably top billing and then TLAT and AMatW are comparable to each other and just under that.
The Marvels is resting somewhere between those three and everything else.
I really enjoyed it! And it delivered on some things that I didn't know to want or expect, and I loved those! And I want to see it again!
But there are some things that keep it from maybe being in the same category as those other three (not putting those here because I want to write spoiler meta and I want this post to be as spoiler-free as possible).

Okay so like, idk if I’ve spoken about it but my mcu rewrite will have a whole different phase 4 and a saga between ‘infinity’ and ‘multiverse’. And that’s time. Because I’m able to tie it to both and I want more build up before the multiverse is explored.
I’ve not smoothed out all of the wrinkles, but I know how it’s gonna start and end.
Warning: this contains small spoilers for Wakanda forever and other Phase four movies and shows, be mindful as you read and avoid mentions of anything you don’t want spoilers for
Wandavision, and most of the other series we got, will still apply, and hopefully I will be able to use them to show the after affects of the Blip a little, because Ahh that shits spooky. Loki has changes, including with how it deals with the idea of ‘why was the avengers time travelling okay?’.
With that, the idea was that it wasn’t okay, it wasn’t meant to happen, it was something that He Who Remains didn’t predict and found amusing, he wanted to see how that story played out (despite knowing the risks of what it could cause), and he allowed the timeline to continue running to see where it went. The TVA agents wanted to do something about it, but they couldn’t, so they lie to themselves and claim it as part of his ‘big plan’. They try to do damage control with Loki and such to make up for it
The show ends with the freedom of the timelines, and they run rampant, the repercussions of which creates the Kang timeline, and allows him to have full reign over wherever, and whenever he wants to go. Big big issue, though thankfully he ends up stuck in the quantum realm trying to timeline hop, but that’s a temporary issue.
Ideally Black Widow will be a film that I do much earlier in my rewrite and it shall not be part of this phase/saga.
Wakanda Forever still deals with the concept of time whilst not directly contributing to the timeline mess. I have decided to have it follow T’Challa (all respect to Chadwick Boseman and his passing, I’m thankful the mcu changed route with it as there is no one that would be able to replace what he did with the character), and the idea of lost time with his son, and trying to make up for it throughout the course of the film. A big struggle would be trying to deal with Namor whilst also fighting to spend every last moment with his son, and knowing it’s best to send him away where he won’t be impacted by the fighting.
Thor:Love and Thunder probably won’t have anything to do with the timeline stuff, but will be introducing Gaia as his birth mother. Because Timeline saga? Pfft, nah, parental trauma saga. Frigga is still respected as his mother, as she raised him and was his mother in every aspect aside from birth, but Gaia is there to explain why, despite the fact that Thor should’ve logically lost his power with the destruction of Asgard (as Hela did), he didn’t. Because he’s as tied to earth as he is tied to his home. And, for anyone wondering about this change, it’s comic accurate (technically *was*, as they changed his mother to FireHair in the comics but there are many writers that ignore this and so I have the balls to ignore it too, because Gaia being his mother was not only a really cool concept but also funny for me because… well the family tree gets a little complicated and also means he’s technically related to multiple avengers (comics-wise)
More on TLAT, I’m changing up the whole ‘storm breaker used to open the thing to eternity’ because it’s way too specific, it’ll be that the power of an elder god must be channelled, and Gaia will have blessed Thor earlier on in the film with some of her power, and Storm Breaker draws it’s power from Thor, so technicalities make it work. I have a lot of thoughts about TLAT and the inclusion of Elder Gods in the MCU as a whole. Especially when taking MOM and WV into consideration in the Elder God conversation, as both of those films explore both directly and indirectly an elder god and the creator of them (Cthon- Wanda draws power from, The Demiurge- Created America’s planet pre-retcon, both are somehow involved in both WV and MOM).
And talking about MOM, Ahhh… so much shall be changed, but important thing, it’s not about the multiverse anymore, and won’t include America. I’m leaving her until later on, when I can get more wriggle room to do the Demiurge thing. Also because the fact that she doesn’t recognise the Minimoffs when she sees them was a scam and I will remove her entirely if needed. Instead, I’m replacing it with an entirely different film.
Wanda is getting hunted by demons, who force her out of hiding after WestView. Strange intends on taking justice against her originally, but when he realises how much danger she is in, and will bring to any facility that tries to hold her because of her being hunted, he decides to save her a little bit first, but makes sure she knows she will be punished accordingly once all is done. Throughout the film Wanda would try and meddle with Steven’s love life, pushing him to ask out Christine and the likes because she won’t be alive forever, something will get her eventually, and she doesn’t have the protection against Illness, age and violence that Steven does. He shuts her advice down every time. They bond, and Strange begins to try and adjust the punishments she may get. She did bad things, she deserves punishment, but she already knows she did something wrong, and she needs major help, so whilst she will get punishment, it’ll be more suited to ensuring she doesn’t do it again, and getting her to give to the world in kindness what she’s given in rage. And then they realise why the demons were being sent to her at all, and Wanda almost accepts her fate. Strange doesn’t think death suitable for her, and I’m trying to stop the demons, gets hurt. And, again, they’ve bonded, and trying to protect her friend, Wanda accidentally draws from Cthon a little too much to decimate the man that summoned the demons to begin with. She flees, fearing what she’s done, and the film ends with Strange going back to Wong in attempts to get him to help him find where Wanda ran off to.
I spent a long time on MOM… wow. Anyways.
I don’t have much to say for the Eternals or for Shang Chi. I will need to rewatch them both. Same for most of the series, actually.
One change in particular for She-Hulk, have it a mostly lawyer show, a little longer, disregard the weird ‘people trying to get her blood’ thing since the conclusion was quite literally scrapped anyways. And have her visit a psychologist after she shows off that she’s She-Hulk (because the Sokovia/Transia Accords - I’m swapping Sokovia for Transia for comic accuracy - are still in place and dictate that anyone with registered abilities must attend regular therapy sessions for the first six months of their power developing/being registered to ensure emotional and mental stability.). And Jen’s psychologist will be one Rebecca Kaplan, because if I’m building up to the Young Avengers, I’m putting my whole ass into it.
No way home will also be pushed to a later date simply because…. That’s multiverse shit, not touching it yet. (Will still make sure it happens at an appropriate time)
I’ll get to talking about the saga as a whole layer, and all, but these are my Phase Four plans so far :)

List of things from Thor: love and thunder that drive me insane:
1)giving Zeus an Italian accent.
2) love and thunder.
Love and fucking thunder.
3) korg and Dwayne.
4)giving Zeus an Italian accent.
3) it's not lady Thor!!!!! ITS THE MIGHTY THOR!!!!!
4)JANE FOSTER SPINNING MJOLNIR!!!!
5) VALKYRIE DOING THAT DRAMATIC POSE UNDER A SHOWER OF BLOOD!!!!!!!
6)the damn goats and their incessant screaming
7) that scene? With Valkyrie and Jane with the speakers and the music and the head bopping. Fucking adorable
Edit:
Okay some of you mentioned these in the reblogs i can't believe i forgot about them but.
8) the insanely superpowered army of literal children. The laser eyed teddy bear. That was. Peak cinema. I love this movie :')
9) OH!!!!stormbreaker and mjolnir and their personalities. It's VERY magnus chase and the gods of Asgard.
10) okay and of course, that little hand smooch val gives the Greek lady in omnipotent city
Edit 2:
Thank you to the 20 something people telling me it's a Greek accent. If 20 more do the same in the comments I might consider continuing to do absolutely nothing about it.

Isn’t this just a little bit bonkers to hear now eh? *laughs miniacally*
I would like to think that after the bomb that was TLAT that they won't give it to Taika again. (Good grief I hope not!) My hope is that after having swung from serious hero to comedic fool, they'll swing back towards the former to some satisfactory middle ground. Although I could see them just leaving Thor where he is given the move to reduce the amount of content from Marvel. I guess I kinda assumed that's where things would end up, but this interview dangles another possibility in front of us. I guess a lot depends on the success of the Loki series and other Marvel outings in the next wee while.
I'm also very much aware this might be the understanding of just one person in the wider Marvel machine. Maybe there was a genuine intention to do something after the fan reaction the IW and Endgame? But does that still stand given public reception of the recent films etc? This interview talks about S2 b3ing developed from when S1 was in production. A lot has canged since then. Perhaps this was the task they set themselves for S2- to get the character to a point, from which reconciliation could be possible in some future project? I dunno.
In terms of GOTG3, and again - spoilers -
I thought at the end of the film they resolved that quite well. I mean they didn't dig into it in the way I might have liked, given it wasn't the focus of the film. But I felt there was a bit of conscious denial of the facts by Quill in particular, but also the other Guardians. Gamora did have to keep making this point to them. I liked the tone of the ending where she has some sympathy for Quill and let's him down gently, but is still quite strong on her desire to go back to her new family (the Ravagers). And there's this shot where we see her being greeted and hugged by them when she gets back and it's clear that this is her home and she's really a different person, and Quill needs to accept Gamora's death and move on. Overall I was actually surprised at how good an 'ending' film this was. It gently helped the audience let go, in a way that I found satisfying. When the time comes I would hope for this for Thor and Loki.
Do you think Loki would ever rejoin the larger world of the MCU?
That’s the hope. I don’t want to — yeah. I think the the sun shining on Loki and Thor once again has always been the priority of the story we’re telling. But for that meeting to really be fulfilling, we have to get Loki to a certain place emotionally. I think that’s been the goal of these two seasons.

I can’t stop thinking about the fight scene in the Shadow Realm. That scene ate so much up.
The black and white only ever briefly interrupted by the lightning from Stormbreaker, Mjolnir, and Thunderbolt. Gorr using EVERY BIT OF HIS POWER to fight three of the greatest warriors in the universe. His prior monologue which had me on the edge of my seat, terrified. THOR ODINSON. KING VALKYRIE.
DOCTOR JANE FUCKING FOSTER.
MY GOSH DO I LOVE THAT SCENE

I’m not sure how long my ‘time travel saga’ would be but it would start with a phase of just like.. street-level stuff. The defenders, maybe some spiderman if I can find an excuse for it, TFaTWS, She-Hulk but it’s just a funky lawyer show bar the daredevil episode. Mostly bc I just want to tone things down after end game and start at a slow pace to introduce the saga slowly. I’m 50/50 on Hawkeye being in it bc that means I need to figure out how to make it possible for Kate to be in that yet young enough for when the YA pop up (which will either be the final project of the time travel saga or the first of the next saga) but it’s likely to find some of itself in there at the least.
Also considering not having TLAT and eternals in this saga because I think they would fit better in a saga focused around gods and cosmic entities. I will also actually explore the eternals not involving themselves in the Thanos (and subsequently also Kang) fights, and why this was, as there were a lot of complaints about that when the film came out.
Overall I’m jumbling things up a little.
Spoiler for AMATW:Quantumania:
Also Scott (and maybe Hope) will get stuck in the Quantum realm indefinitely. Needed for Young Avengers set up. And it’ll occur later on in the Saga, as I don’t want them to have very long to prepare for Kang, and maybe I’ll even kill Scott to later use ‘time funky’ logic to bring him back from the moments just before his death to rejoin the Avengers and warn them about Kang (unintentionally inspiring the actions of a Young Avenger in a later film).

i’m usually not a fan of the “love conquers all”trope ngl. i think it can be really corny, and writers frequently take it as an easy way out when they’ve written the good guy into an otherwise inescapable corner. but i really, really loved the way it was executed in thor: love and thunder. because “love” wasn’t some mystical and otherworldly force that vanquished the evil whether the villain liked it or not. love conquered all in the end because everyone chose love. thor chose his love for jane over what would have been a futile attempt to save his own life. gorr chose his love for his daughter over his hatred of the gods. jane and thor chose to love gorr’s daughter rather than hate her for who she descended from. love is a choice, not an unstoppable force, and yet it’s genuinely more powerful that way
