🥳 Why did you start writing fanfic?

I think I started writing fanfic in my senior year in college. I was in the midst of a very traumatic breakup and something about jumping into a different reality was very appealing at the time. I'd always loved to write, and been unhealthily obsessed with HP, and so it flowed from there. Now I just really enjoy it as a hobby, though there's always a bit of escapism in it, I think.

I think my fanfic reading gateway might've been TLAT? I read that and was like omg, people are posting these masterpieces for FREE?? Still feel that way tbh.

This will sound absolutely silly, but whenever I need a pick me up, I come to reread this (spoiler alert: I've lost count of how many times I reread it). This fanfic is, for sure, my favorite Harry/Ginny AU of all time. I adore how you describe every single of the characters, their friendship, how they fall in love, and everything. Really, everything. I don't have enough words to say how amazing this is and how thankful I'm that you shared it.

The idea that people would return to something I've written for a pick-me-up brings me so much joy - it makes me think of all the ways we affect one another without even knowing it, and all the times that other people have made me feel better with their writing.

My heart is bursting with love for them!! They’ve been on such a journey!! And it’s so lovely seeing them end up where they belong :’)

You know when you tinker over a few lines to try to get them just right, to try to capture the exact feeling you want to portray? And then you secretly love those few lines, and hope that they affect people the way you wanted them to? And then some queen goes and hand picks those exact lines to tell you how much they loved them? Inject that feeling into my veins.

I’m not sure how long my ‘time travel saga’ would be but it would start with a phase of just like.. street-level stuff. The defenders, maybe some spiderman if I can find an excuse for it, TFaTWS, She-Hulk but it’s just a funky lawyer show bar the daredevil episode. Mostly bc I just want to tone things down after end game and start at a slow pace to introduce the saga slowly. I’m 50/50 on Hawkeye being in it bc that means I need to figure out how to make it possible for Kate to be in that yet young enough for when the YA pop up (which will either be the final project of the time travel saga or the first of the next saga) but it’s likely to find some of itself in there at the least.

Also considering not having TLAT and eternals in this saga because I think they would fit better in a saga focused around gods and cosmic entities. I will also actually explore the eternals not involving themselves in the Thanos (and subsequently also Kang) fights, and why this was, as there were a lot of complaints about that when the film came out.

Overall I’m jumbling things up a little.

Also Scott (and maybe Hope) will get stuck in the Quantum realm indefinitely. Needed for Young Avengers set up. And it’ll occur later on in the Saga, as I don’t want them to have very long to prepare for Kang, and maybe I’ll even kill Scott to later use ‘time funky’ logic to bring him back from the moments just before his death to rejoin the Avengers and warn them about Kang (unintentionally inspiring the actions of a Young Avenger in a later film).

I can’t stop thinking about the fight scene in the Shadow Realm. That scene ate so much up. 

The black and white only ever briefly interrupted by the lightning from Stormbreaker, Mjolnir, and Thunderbolt. Gorr using EVERY BIT OF HIS POWER to fight three of the greatest warriors in the universe. His prior monologue which had me on the edge of my seat, terrified. THOR ODINSON. KING VALKYRIE.

i’m usually not a fan of the “love conquers all”trope ngl. i think it can be really corny, and writers frequently take it as an easy way out when they’ve written the good guy into an otherwise inescapable corner. but i really, really loved the way it was executed in thor: love and thunder. because “love” wasn’t some mystical and otherworldly force that vanquished the evil whether the villain liked it or not. love conquered all in the end because everyone chose love. thor chose his love for jane over what would have been a futile attempt to save his own life. gorr chose his love for his daughter over his hatred of the gods. jane and thor chose to love gorr’s daughter rather than hate her for who she descended from. love is a choice, not an unstoppable force, and yet it’s genuinely more powerful that way

The way it healed me in a way I didn’t even know I needed healing to know that Heimdall has a son and Thor adopted a daughter... like this movie really said Heimdall and Loki live on in the love they left behind and I am sobbing

THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER (2022) dir. Taika Waititi

Just got back from “Thor: Love and Thunder”. Overall, I thought it was a solid movie. Nothing groundbreaking, but I had a blast at the theaters. It was like a heavy metal music video but as a movie, which works due to music choices. For a grade...let’s say a solid B? It’s a perfectly fine movie and it leaves you wanting more.

Some other, random observations:

1) I did not expect “Sweet Child O’Mine” to actually be a spoiler for the movie.

2) Christian Bale definitely stole this movie. There was just something so eerie about his performance. His character was like Pennywise meets Kratos. 

3) I liked how the theme of love vs. hatred was used throughout the movie. For example, you have a character like Gorr, the embodiment of hatred, who lives in a realm that’s devoid of color. While an interesting stylistic choice, this also plays into the theme of love and hatred since Gorr started losing his color once he gave into his hatred.  

4) The guy playing Hercules looks almost exactly like the character in the comics. Good casting there. 

5) I was not expecting an actual ass shot from Chris Hemsworth. I thought there was going to be a funny way of censoring him, but no. It’s surprising that Disney would give the okay on that scene.

6) You can tell that Natalie Portman isn’t used to acting as an action hero. There was a certain stiffness to her acting, like she wasn’t playing to her usual strengths. Honestly, even though her acting was a little stiff, it worked for the character since this was Jane Foster’s first time as a superhero. 

7) The screaming goats gag was so stupid, but I laughed every time it happened. I don’t know, there’s something about goats screaming that just cracks me up.
