i’ve been into doctor who for eight or nine years. since this year was technically about me embracing cringe and making ocs i would make when i was younger, i decided to make a time lord oc... but only because i busted out my copy of “how to be a time lord” again.
this character has taken on the alias of “the pioneer” due to an inside joke, but tends to introduce herself as “pie” because she’s tired of explaining what she’s supposed to be a pioneer of. according to her, as far as anyone should be concerned, pie is her real name.
i like to imagine she crouches on tables sometimes, is extremely affectionate with her tardis, and will use pet names/nicknames if she likes someone. :3

I think it's funny how most of us here went from Sad™ and Depressed™ as children/teens, only to end up ✨Sad and Depressed✨ adults.
Funny in the way that, we thought things would never get better, and they did. And funny in the way that they actually never DID get better - we just learned how to cope.
Except that we actually *didn't* learn how to cope, we just got used to it. Which really means, we didn't got used to it - we are just too tired to care.
Going through my worse depressive bouts before felt like fighting teeth and nail for a way out. It was hell, and it burned, and I cared. Now I simply shrug and be thankful there's fire to make some coffee. Does this make sense?
It was so loud and shrieking before, and now is more of a constant heavy hum, always there just out of reach, clinging to my legs and feet, dragging itself on the floor like a old dying beast. Once in a while it remembers it's alive and rips by flesh with its teeth, without any warning. Then back to playing dead. It bites less frequently now but my God, does it hurt.
I'm glad to not have to constantly fight for my life anymore, but I miss the days when that was something I wanted. I'm afraid I tipped the nihilistic scale too far and now I'm just sort of drifting away, little by little.
It's too quiet now and I don't like it.

Lampreys!
While some lampreys turn to a parasitic lifestyle as adults, drilling into the sides of bigger animals to feed on their flesh and blood, lamprey larvae, ammocoetes, are actually filter feeders! The lamprey larva life stage can last up to a decade, and they spend their time being half-buried in sandy substrate, consuming whatever tiny organic particles float to them. Ammocoetes' feeding rate is the slowest of any suspension-feeding animal, and due to this they require a habitat very rich in nutrients.

"reblog all art and fics you see" there's no thought put into that. if this does work on people, then it's just pity engagement borne out of guilt rather than genuine interest, which is arguably worse than having none, because it's totally hollow.
#if I make art of my ocs who I'm personally fond of and spent a few days drawing just right and it gets 3 reblogs then it gets 3 reblogs#it's rational to feel a little disappointed sure. but I can't do anything about that. it's just luck#and I got Very lucky accumulating a few thousand followers on my main-turned-art-only blog off the back of when m.oomin was very popular#(tho realistically many of those users are probably inactive/passive followers now)#and having this number of people tuned into my posts Still only gets me a couple dozen notes on original stuff.#every 3 years or so something might blow up. like that bugs bunny comic lol. and I did Not expect it to#especially bc it happened about a year after I shared it as well.#it can happen any time. so don't feel discouraged when your art doesn't get noticed right away#the one advantage this website has is that there's far less of a fomo culture compared to other socials where trends come and go in a week#and people will still interact with older posts. especially bc it's easier to find what you want through the tagging system. sort of.#there's really no way to predict this or aim for large engagement! oh unless you're specifically catering to the current hot topic#like d.unmeshi is wiiiildly popular right now. I've seen comics get 5-digit notes in under 48 hours 'cause more eyes are on it.#but if it's not something you personally like and you're only creating things for the attention then you're gonna be unhappy#and people will inevitably move on.#I'd much rather swing my art back around every few months or so until it finds someone it resonates with#than make people who were never planning to engage with it feel bad for no reason

something that’s been on my mind a lot also is like. the potential for conflict between kim and harry because of harry’s can-opening.
kim is obviously deeply repressed and while that’s not necessarily a good thing, and he’s not necessarily happy about being that way, it’s also not up to harry to decide that he needs to be exposed. harry can be good for kim in this context if and only if it’s kim making the decision to open up. it can be good for kim if kim is like “there is no way i can ever be as openly fucked up and embarrassing as this guy. he is a freak and a disaster on a level i could never aspire to. so i guess it’s fine if we’re friends. he can know me a little bit.” then it’s great and they foil each other well and their relationship can be healthy and fulfilling for them both!
but there’s also a version of their relationship that starts out okay but goes down in flames because harry just can’t help himself. he either can’t or won’t stop the prying and kim has no inclination to let harry in. there’s a harry that will push kim’s buttons and provoke him and say or do awful things just to see how kim reacts. there is a kim that has no tolerance for harry’s behavior, no desire to play along, and not enough patience to give him more than one or two chances. and kim wouldn’t be wrong for that! kim has no obligation to give harry chances and no obligation to be vulnerable just because harry wants to know he smoked weed back in his 20s (which is a small complaint of mine. as funny as that dialogue is, i kind of wish that even passing that check didn’t actually give you a secret. kim deserves to be able to say no and doing so is way more consistent with his character.)
yes, sometimes kim NEEDS that little bit of pressure from harry so he has an excuse to do something he wants to do anyway, but that’s exactly it: it’s something he *already wants to do*. like the jackets or the dancing or the cryptid talk. harry’s blundering lack of reservations is an excuse for kim to loosen up on his own- it absolves kim of ultimate responsibility, protecting him, and that allows him to *do* things, freeing him. done this way, the dynamic can be healthy and mutually beneficial. but it’s also good to acknowledge the ways in which harry can try to expose kim in harmful ways that drive them apart.
#sorry.#i can get with kim/harry but only under a specific set of circumstances#so you can take this post as platonic or not because it applies regardless#the fact that they're foils means that all the things that make them work well together can also be huge sources of conflict#and harry has conflict with everyone ever because he's just Like That so. it's not impossible that harry chases kim off too#kim's not going to change in the blink of an eye because harry stumbled into his life#they might gradually influence each other but idk.#sorry i just hate it when people act like it's unequivocally good for harry to crack kim open like a crab leg.#and i resent the notion that kim will completely overhaul who he is for harry's sake#+ kim is in a delicate position as a nonwhite companion to a white protag so. not great yknow#im white so i don't want to presume too much but that's definitely worth pointing out. the game addresses it only briefly#disco elysium#harry du bois#kim kitsuragi#kiwipost#kk meta#hdb meta

how did u feel about the 2nd Terrifier movie? i saw it on a first date so it wasn’t the best experience… but revisiting it I can enjoy it more. good sfx
So the first one is 1h30m i believe, and I know when I watched it and saw I was 40 minutes in i was like wow its been that long and it feels like not much has happened huh. But then it did what it did and it ended.
For the second one I was like oh its been 40 minutes. Hopefully it starts kicking off like the first one. And then after what felt like an hour only 10 more minutes had passed LOL and the entire rest of the movie felt dis way
I like that this one had more of a semblance of a plot... The clown cafe song is stuck in my head... Sfx is good but hm im not sure how to describe this....im not one of those "omg this is just a legal snuff film u guys are evil for watching this" people nor am i a "ermm if u cant handle this ur a prude and a little baby actually" person but more somewhere in between or outside. I love movie gore, when i was younger I watched Saw SOLELY for the traps, i didnt even know the plot until more recently LMAO
but obviously That One Scene...idk! I dont think it was too much in the "prude" way nor was i clapping and cheering but it did evoke a "ok come on wrap it up" feeling from me...like these faces combined...does dis make sense. Not walking-out-of-the-theater disgust and revulsion OR enjoyment/glee but just mostly straight faced this ⬇️
The first movie has a naked woman being split in half from coochie down so its definitely not the gore itself here that evoked this emotion ykwim

#pdbc#art#ughhh I love him so much!!! if only he did more#I say that as if there’s something stopping me from giving him a bigger role#he just wouldn’t be the same if he was important…..he’ll be confined to random doodles and being in the background forever#still working out his design. this is Probably final but I might tweak some stuff#first of all I dunno if the arm fluff should go on the elbow or wrist. both would seem too cluttered#second of all I need to well. make him not look so cluttered#I want ti make it obvious he’s a privet hawk moth and those have really cool stripes but stripes are a one way ticket to cluttered designs#like even when drawing it I got confused where his leg was because it blended in with his abdomen yiiiikes okey#also his eyes are Probably more drooped but I just wanted to draw him wide eyed and goofy lookin#my beloved…..making him trans also made me more comfortable in being queer so he has a special place in my heart#I should draw the bug people more I love them. they’re so small too#like most characters are above average height (around 5’8+—#there must be something in the water on fincg island considering one of the only characters who isnt tall isnt from there. anyway)#but the bug people are around 3 to 4 feet tall. sure they’re rapidly evolving bugs but they’re still bugs they’re gonna be a lil short yknow#tumblr crashed when I posted this this is a hate crime (it is because I’m yapping way too much in the tags)
