Она не вед��ла ужасов Хелькараксэ и не знала, как долго спорил он с братом о том, что им следовало попробовать разделить зимнюю забаву эдайн: может, то излечило бы их обоих от вечного ужаса перед снегом и льдом, навсегда въевшимися в память знаком горя, предательства, лишений и смерти...

gosh it's just. i find this line so touching. finrod and andreth discuss such big concepts in athrabeth -- the attitude of elves toward men, iluvatar's gift of death, even the idea that melkor is the master of creation (andreth's embittered "is not the nameless lord of the world?" comes to mind) -- and yet here at the end, finrod implores andreth to, if nothing else, know that aegnor loved her and will always love her. all those mind-boggling metaphysical matters brought up between them, and his final desire is not to get andreth to agree with him about cosmic law and mastery of creation and literal capital g god, but to comfort her and soothe her pain
