The Weird Microorganism Iceberg

I basically made this on an impulse, please don’t take it too seriously. Feel free to suggest more organisms!

Explanations under the cut.

Tardigrades: You probably all know this one. Commonly said to be polyextremophiles, but this isn’t actually true; while they can survive extreme conditions, they don’t thrive in them. Something you might not know about them is that all of their body segment genes are equivalent to arthropod head genes — meaning they are basically walking heads.

Demodex: Eyelash mites.

Diatoms: Geometric silicon shell creatures.

Nylon-eating bacteria (Paenarthrobacter ureafaciens KI72): Exactly what it says on the tin.

Myxozoa: Single-celled parasitic cnidarians. Lack digestive systems, circulatory systems, gonads, and even muscles in some species. Also may or may not be autonomous cancer cells.

Thiomargarita: The only macroscopic bacteria. Honorary microorganisms for the purposes of this image.

Wolbachia: Parasitic / mutualistic bacteria genus that has created numerous insect species through their effects on reproduction. (Infected females can become capable of parthenogenesis, while infected males are either killed, turned into females, or limited to reproducing only with females infected by the same strain.)

Deinococcus radiodurans: A bacterium which unofficially holds the title of “most extreme extremophile”. Can survive incredibly high doses of radiation, as well as high acidity and very low temperatures.

Dicyemida: Symbiotic (once mistakenly thought to be parasitic) animals that live in cephalopod kidneys. Have alternation of generations and used to be known as “Rhombozoa” (“rhombus animals”).

Facetotectans: Parasitic crustaceans with an unknown adult form. Attempts to artificially induce metamorphosis only produce another juvenile stage, as far as anyone can tell.

Metal-breathing bacteria: Bacteria which use nanowires to accept electrons from metals.

Limnognathia: One of the smallest animals, and has 15-part extensible jaws.

Disulforudis audaxviator: The only known organism to comprise a single-species ecosystem. Lives over a mile underground and feeds off the byproducts of radioactive decay.

Salinella salve: Possibly nonexistent simple animal, allegedly cultured by Johannes Frenzel in 1892 but never found by anyone else.

Warnowiids (Warnowiaceae): A family of dinoflagellates which have modified some of their organelles into an eye… which somehow works well enough for them to aim their stingers at prey, despite them having no brain (or even other cells) to process the images.

Haloquadratum walsbyi: A square that lives in salt.

Dicopomorpha echmepterygis: The smallest known insect, a parasitoid wasp smaller than a Paramecium.

Hemimastigophora: A group of organisms recently discovered to be an early-splitting branch of the eukaryotes.

Monocercomonoides: A genus of “excavate” “protists” (both terms are polyphyletic, lol) that lack mitochondria… or even the genes for them.

Parakaryon myojinensis: The only complete incertae sedis, for which not even the domain is known. Has an odd mix of eukaryote and prokaryote-like features, leading to speculation that they represent a second incidence of endosymbiosis (aka Eukaryota 2.0). Also my blog’s namesake.

Collodictyon: Considered unclassifiable for a long time. Not really that weird in and of itself, tbh.

Kamera lens: Continuing the theme, this is an alga that has proven weirdly difficult to classify despite having been known for centuries (though it’s been narrowed down to the Ochrophyta). Its funny name makes it a pain to look up.

Jeongeupia sacculi: Recently-discovered multicellular(!) bacterium. Unlike everything else on here, it doesn’t have a Wikipedia page (yet).

Meteora sporadica: “Protist” which moves by rowing with a pair of arm-like appendages. Another difficult-to-classify organism, although a study from earlier this year suggests they are related to the Hemimastigophora.

Kakabekia barghoorniana: Apparent Paleoproterozoic living fossil that looks like an umbrella.

Magosphaera planula: A sphere which splits apart into amoeba-like cells, observed by Ernst Haeckel in 1869. Also possibly nonexistent / misidentified.

Welterbe (auf)gespürt und (er)fahren – SI, HR, BA, ME, AL, NMK, GR – Back from the South 3.0

Meine zweite Tour in den Süden (Go South 2.0) hatte ich wegen der schlimmen Waldbrände in Griechenland und Albanien letztendlich in Bulgarien beendet und war so auch nicht in das Hochwasser in Slowenien gekommen. Im September bin ich deshalb noch einmal in den Süden gestartet - über den Balkan bis nach Griechenland. Nach 9.000 km zu mehr als 30 Welterbestätten bin ich mit vielen Eindrücken und Fotos zurück am heimischen Schreibtisch und habe damit fast alle Welterbe auf dem europäischen Festland, ausgenommen die in den östlichen Grenz- und den Krisengebieten auf dem Balkan, besucht. Für das kommende Jahr ist die noch ausstehende Tour ins Vereinigte Königreich und Irland geplant. Dobby hat 100.000 km auf dem Tacho und in meiner Tabelle der Welterbe in Europa sind 450 der reichlich 500 als besucht markiert.

In Vorbereitung dieser Rundfahrt habe ich wieder in meiner Karte die zu besuchenden Welterbestätten eingetragen, darüber gelesen und mich über die verschiedenen Maut- und Versicherungsregeln informiert. Die Tour durch die Länder außerhalb der EU-Telefonflat habe ich besonders gut vorbereitet. Freundlich empfangen und überrascht hat mich Slowenien, die Landschaft in Bosnien und Herzegowina sowie Montenegro war einfach nur umwerfend, der Fahrstil der Albaner hat alle schlechten Erinnerungen und Schrecksekunden von anderen Touren noch getoppt und Griechenland schließlich hat mich mit viel mehr als nur Tempelruinen beeindruckt. Wer mir auf Instagram - @dobbystories folgt, wird schon einige Eindrücke von meiner Reise gesehen haben. Losgefahren bin ich bei strömendem Regen, wie so häufig in diesen Monaten. Die fast 1.000 km bis Ljubljana hielten trotzdem einige interessante Stopps für mich bereit. In Echzell besuchte ich die Spuren des römischen Limes.

Nach einer Gewitternacht am Chiemsee hielt Österreich neben Bergen und Burgen ein echtes Highlight bereit -

-die Brücke über den türkis leuchtenden Ferlacher Stausee. Danach begann der Besuch der Welterbestätten, die ich wie immer im Einzelnen beschreiben und die Beiträge hier verlinken werde. Slowenien

Kroatien Auf einer Busrundreise im zeitigen Frühjahr habe ich die Welterbestätten Altstadt von Dubrovnik Split mit dem Diokletianspalast und Altstadt von Trogir besucht. Jetzt habe ich mir angeschaut:

die Euphrasius-Basilika in Poreč den Nationalpark Plitvicer Seen den Nationalpark Paklenica die Kathedrale des Heiligen Jakob in Sibenik die Venezianische Festung von Zadar und Stećci – Mittelalterliche Grabsteine sowie die Ebene von Stari Grad

Bosnien und Herzegowina Während der Busrundreise hatte ich - die Altstadt und die Brücke von Mostar besichtigt.

Die Fahrt entlang der großen Flusstäler hat mich sehr beeindruckt. Auf dieser Tour habe ich die Mehmed-Paša-Sokolovic-Brücke in Višegrad und weitere mittelalterliche Friedhöfe besucht Montenegro Nachdem ich bereits - die Bucht von Kotor besucht hatte, habe ich mich ganz besonders auf den Nationalpark Durmitor gefreut.

Wegen der aktuellen Sicherheits- und Grenzhinweise habe ich die Welterbestätten in Serbien und Kosovo nicht besucht. Albanien und Nordmazedonien

Hier befinden sich interessante alte Städte wie Berat und Gjirokastra Ohrid (Nordmazedonien) am gleichnamigen See sowie Butrint Griechenland Die meisten Welterbestätten dieser Tour zeugten natürlich von der großen Geschichte dieses Landes: Korfu Olympia Apollontempel von Bassae

Baby Celebration  Son Heung Min  Word Count: 500  Requested by @souds7​ You were at home, unable to get to the Tottenham Hotspur stadium after only giving birth a matter of days ago.  You were so upset that you were unable to get to the game, you rarely miss any Tottenham’s games especially ones at home. But Sonny suggested it wasn’t the best decision as you were still so exhausted after having your baby girl.  Your daughter Ara was so welcome into this world, you were so thankful to have welcomed her into the world. The birth was hard, but totally worth it. She looked just love Sonny, as beautiful as ever.  Picking the name for your daughter was pretty hard, Ara means be beautiful and be good in Korean. You were so happy with your choice of name after much debating with the pair of you, throwing so many names and decided you hated majority of them.  “Ara, daddy is coming on the TV soon princess” You pointed as Sonny come on the screen in his home game versus Manchester City. Obviously she was still sleeping on your chest and was paying absolutely no attention to the screen whatsoever.  You had the biggest smile on your face as you watched the game kick off. “Come on boys” you whispered as you tried your hardest not to wake Ara up.  The first half wasn’t the best for Tottenham, but they were very much still in the game as they went in at half time in 0-0.  Not too long after half time, Tottenham went on the counter attack up the other end of the pitch. Sonny smashed the ball into the back of the net, 1-0. You were so excited, trying your hardest not to make up Ara. “Yessss” you whispered as you watched the boys do the baby celebration.  Your heart melted at that moment, you were so happy that the boys celebrated welcoming Ara into the world. The boys all had the biggest smiles on there faces as you watched while also having a huge smile on your face. The game finished 1-0 win to Tottenham.  - When Sonny spoke to the press, the baby celebration was brought up in conversation. “The baby celebration, congratulations are here” you smiled as Sonny nodded. “Yes, my daughter is 3 days old. Me and the boys decided to do the celebration as my wife wasn’t able to get here. But I know they were both watching” He smiled as he waved to the camera towards you.  “Well done on the win and congratulations on your newborn baby” he smiled as Sonny thanked them and headed to do even more interviews to talk about the win.  When Sonny arrived home, you couldn’t wait to give him the biggest cuddle. “I am so proud of you baby, Ara is too. But she is still sleeping” you smiled. “Aww thank you. Sad we didn’t get to see nothing of The Marc-nificent Seven 2.0 battle against (what-we-thought was) Mina, but damn! That sword is a nightmare! It’s that kind of firey passionate hate that made those Solarian soldiers go mentally unstable! Now, THEY’RE ALL GONNA DIE! Is-is this how it ends!? With every minor character in here dying!? This better not be like that! When Janna suggested that whole “nuke plan”, it reminded me of how they handled it from the Avengers cuz it was on tv recently and I really loved how bada** that movie was and I’m hoping to finish off the rest of the franchise of it. Lol! Star put in a good fight with “NOT Mina”, but it still wasn’t enough cuz she went down like a sack of potato’s the way Meteora did to her (“Conquer”). Sorry Star, you’re real powerful, but this is waaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy beyond what your pretty pretty spells can do. I knew that “Spell with No Name” spell was gonna be used on “Mina” eventually. It was foreshadowed (“A Spell with No Name”), cuz we saw what it can do and even Eclipsas spells must’ve seen Avengers to wanna nuke the whole damn place! I think that spell did just about the same damage there. Yup, (smack lips) it did. It really did. Solaria left it unfinished in The Magic Book of Spells for Eclipsa to continue it, but in this case, it wasn’t for monsters, it was for her failed experiment with “Mina” Plot Twist! That Mecha Knight was NOT Mina Loveberry! THEN WHO THE F*CK WAS THAT!? AND WHERE DID THAT ARMY COME FROM!? AND WHY DOES MINAS SUIT HAVE PIGTAILS!?

Yup, did it! Think it went well enough! I even changed her wand and cut her hair for (discord) arguments sake! The left is her casuals and the right is her "royals/important mewni stuff" clothes.

And just some of the things I'm changing about her:

If anyone tried to put her into a dress she'd murder them on the spot.

Star and Marco live on earth, and visit mewni as guests or on vacation only.

Takes more after Marco, making her a more lawful-good at first glance.

Probably can't cook to save the entire world, but bakes pretty decently.

Her cheekmarks don't always stay with her. They fade when she's upset or depressed, but that's rare.

Is the one person to say, in a weird situation: "what the hell did you do now???"

Wants to be either a knight for mewni when she's older, or, if she took an occupation on earth, a sociologist.

Until the show reveales more on whats gonna happen with the wand, lets all just assume that she got her wand from a millennial meteora after she got bored of it.

Has a thing for aesthetic music, so her "theme" music (like when the show is concentrating on her and all) would probably consist of mellow, relaxing synth beats and some musky guitar, maybe piano if it's important.

Would try and challenge the gods 100%.

Throwback Thursday

Meteora – Linkin Park

  Today I’m revisiting Linkin Park’s 2nd album, Meteora.

Back in the day I was a huge LP fan. Hybrid Theory was the album that changed my main musical preferences from rap and introduced me to rock…I never looked back.

To this day I find it hard to recall an album I was more hyped for than Meteora.  I was 15 when it first hit the shelves.

I remember loving the singles but finding the album to be Hybrid Theory 2.0. A rinse and repeat.

Sixteen years later, listening to it as I type up notes at work, I find it just as strong as their debut.

However it’s hard to revisit them without a huge sense of melancholy in the aftermath of Chester’s death.

I never realised how much this guy went through, but listening back, it’s so very clear in his lyrics.

Well, that certainly was ah, uh... one of these things? Right, a finale. Yeah, that was that thing. Wah.

Yes, the finale… And I have so much to say that I think if I put everything I have in my head it will end being a looong post… Eh, I will be doing a long post anyway, just shorter than the original long post I have in mind… You get that, right? ^ ^’

I think it’s been a while for people not being spoiled so, no spoiler tags and here I go.

I didn’t know they will air both episodes Divide and Conquer at the same time. I’m one of those people who prefers to have their weekly things, because I know that if we get all at once, the material will end and I’m almost sure the hiatuses become longer. I dunno why the decision if each episode lasted 22 mins. Well, it wasn’t a bomb so it’s better :3

Now for the first episode, Divide.

We start the episode with a missing Queen Moon and we can see Star should take her obligations right away. I never thought we will see this situation in show. I liked that. We could see how Star takes it and how she experiences by herself the level of her mother’s work.

Marco really takes his *squire job seriously*. I don’t know why but, in this moment, I could feel that reason more like an excuse than ever. Here he felt like he uses that to be with her… more than in other occasions for some reason.

I was wondering where River was. Then he was there. Offering emotional support ^ ^I really wonder why in situations of missing queens the king can’t take some responsibility. Politics sucks sometimes ^ ^’. All the weight goes over an inexperienced teenager… just like when Moon’s mother died.

Yes, the part when Star was overwhelmed with responsibility was something. I specially liked when she went to Glossaryck for counseling like old times but he only gaves her a helpless look. Ouch.

And well, there was a meeting to talk about the situation. They let us know that Mina already fought with Meteora and lost… Why they skip those epic moments…? >.

Also, we can see that Star sure is mad with the council members now. Too bad for Dad Rhombulus…

Then after all this and Star almost making a hasty decision, we have this… Dude!

Marco offered himself to handle the situation. He sure rocked there. Looked so cool. 

Yes, despite me having troubles with all the time skip situation and wondering why he still has a 15 years old mind, it’s really nice that they referenced Marco still has the abilities he learned. It’s WAY better than swapping that under the rug. We never know that before, I suppose he remembered them while traveling with Hekapoo again, closing portals.

But anyway, Marco looks on pair with Star now, he can kick magic and stuff ^ ^

Being honest, I didn’t like at first that he resisted Spider with a top hat but then I saw that those are friggin 16 fighting experience years, 16! And Star is on pair with that :3

I loved the zoom out of the battle. They, face to face panting… taking a breath. Two skilled friends having a wonderful match.

And then Star checking her good friend too… Just checking :3It’s interesting that Marco already knew what she was checking for XD

The episodes had many moments between them both and I specially liked how Star tried to look tough but ended accepting she was scared and wanted some confort. And what’s better than a hug of your best friend whom you have feelings for :). Of course it was easier for Marco to accept he was scared too.

After this we go through spaghetti and they trying to look as two cool best friends in front of other people but failing miserably. Yeah, we love to see those dumb heads in denial. You’re not fooling anyone… stop. Ok don’t stop, it’s funny  ^ ^

The following part of the episode is the division of both of them, hence the name of the episode. Marco will try to delay Meteora and Star will search for her mom.

I need to say that I liked the team. It was a bit strange not seeing Rhombulus there tho.

So Hekapoo has a crush on Raventalon… Neat. Less Marco harem’s vibe is fine by me >:) *cough*

And yeah I noticed Tom has an attire that looks like a fire nation one. Nice cameo :PNot much to say here besides the assembly and the beginning of the fight.

We switch to Star into the magic realm. She finally founds Moon following the traces of dark goo she leaves. At first I didn’t notice but then I saw that she was “Washing off” the dark magic corruption in the magic waters. I have to say that Moon looks cuter without all that pompous make up.

You know what? Whatever the case, I felt good for her. Being queen with so many responsibilities and with the task of taking hard decisions since a young age, I can see why she’s so serious and strict. So, it was nice to see her so relaxed and carefree after all that time. I know she enjoyed that despite not remembering her own family. Well, I mean, she spent time playing with her daughter after all :)

Yeah, Star went in with a contingency plan but making it short, it didn’t work. She ended playing carelessly in the dimension while their friends waited for her. Portal shuts down. That would be a nice cliffhanger for next week but oh well, not complaining ^ ^

We have Conquer right away.

We take where we left and then we know the magic realm has some kind of upside down waterfalls that work like portals to other dimensions. I wonder if that would play some important role in upcoming happenings. I think they will. 

I mean, what is this? Why are they showing it? Is this Hekapoo dimension or something?

They also got into a barrel that is shut and we never know what’s outside… I mean, it should be something more there, right…?

Here’s something a bit weird. After Star failing miserably with all her attempts to remember and go out with her mom, this dude appears…

And just says that they shouldn’t be there and transports them outside. I wonder what was that… but also, I wonder another thing. Star is transported to her room and appears sleeping, so she thinks it was just a dream until she’s fully awake and then concerns. Yeah concerns about her mom because she’s not there! So, Ok, Moon shouldn’t be there, but where she should be then if not her home? Where is she? It doesn’t look like she ended in her castle. Lets’ hope this leads to an interesting story.

Ok, switch to the battle. And yes, I must say that I loved it. Finally a fight! I really missed that in Battle of Mewni. They skipped the fights and that was a really lame decision. I mean, if Star vs Toffee was something near this, I wouldn’t have any complaining!

That teamwork, I love teamwork! ^ ^With the exception of Ponyhead who got defeated quickly because she couldn’t see with the dam helmet on. You can have anything on your head now and that’s all you do?… Ah, Ponyhead, I don’t dislike you but you’re a difficult character.

Also, as I said the team was really good but if I have to choose the best guy there, that’s Tom ^ ^. For sure! He went overboard with everything. He even looked like the most skilled person there.

Dam, he sent Meteora to the underworld! Sure it didn’t last long but not even a council member of I dunno how many years old, made any move in the dire situation.

Of course, that couldn’t be all. If that were the case it would be interesting but sure unfulfilling.After all that, we see how Meteora defeats each one of them and we are left with just, yes, Tom and Marco. Marco with his experience in the other world and Tom being Tom… Yes, for sure he was something.

So, the moment under the rock when they think everything’s lost. Two things I liked from it: First, Tom not looking so stuck anymore, he was such a nice guy even acknowledging Marco’s his best friend now.Second, Marco already confessed Tom about the kiss after feeling guilty cause all the support Tom gave him. Yes! No secrets and hidden things drama! That thing’s over!  Also, maybe that will make people raging about the kiss change their minds a bit. I always say that we should wait for the next episode before going nuts. I want to think this is the case :3

Ok, what was I saying? Oh, yes, did I say Tom was awesome in this episode?

I’ll say that again :)

Dude! Tom was awesome in this episode!

He thought Marco was lying to him to make him leave. Then he discovers he wasn’t lying and he doesn’t lose it, just stays there protecting his best friend. Also that trait of having hundreds of demons inside makes him practically immune to Meteora’s soul sucking. Someone please tell me Tom sucks, I want to laugh XD

Of course, Marco will not stay there waiting for his friend to get soul depleted, so he acts anyway and we end with a soul less Marco.

Tom carries Marco and only Marco to Star. The moments when Star realizes Marco is gone aren’t particularly detailed as shocking but we can see how Star reacts and feels, even more when she decides to go to heal him to the sanctuary. It doesn’t work and yeah, this episode has many endearing moments, so hug for Tom too and we can see how is he trying to fulfill the promise to Marco to keep Star safe. But yeah, Star has gone for a big character growth so she will not run from his problems anymore.

Interesting thing there, is that just as Star didn’t know about Tom’s tail, Tom didn’t know about Star’s butterfly form. Every time we’re shown how not that close they are :/ Tom’s a nice guy, I knew he will going to be the Jackie 2.0 of the relationship. Oh well.

Final scene and we got our DARN FINAL BATTLE. Finally! I’ve always said that the writers learn from mistakes of previous seasons and this is not changing my mind. Tom as the other love interest got plenty screen time and development and the villains weren’t dispatched with an unfulfilling and fast deux ex. I wish they could’ve done this earlier. Look at that scenario and action scenes! X)

Then the moment many of us liked. Before a defeated Star we see how Eclipsa comes in (She was missing before, I must clarify) takes the wand and it goes to its Eclipsa form! That shows that the wand can go to his other forms if the bearer wants. Moon grabbed the wand several times but it stayed in Star’s form, so it was a bit confusing.

Ok, I was saying… That woman is too OP… plz nerf! Maybe it’s because her daughter didn’t counter attack but besides that, Meteora always looked so resistant but she comes in, blasts her a couple of times and then encloses her easily in some sort of bubble. Done.

For sure, this moment was heavy…

It’s not like I cried a bit or anything… *cough*

And yeah, defeating her restored everyone to their true self.

Again, lovely Starco moment when she jumps to catch Marco and only Marco. Then this.This episode is full of them ^ ^

Yeah, it was interrupted by Tom but I didn’t mind at all! It was a cute moment between those three. I wonder what does Tom thinks after all this… He knows about the kiss, he of course knows about the Blood Moon, he witness those moments. I hope they don’t take long for him to say something about that. I mean, how can the writers stretch that in a not annoying way? Can they…?

Well, after looking at a sad Elcipsa that seems to have lost everything, Star gives the wand to her… Some people were shocked by it but I thought she will do that since the trial when she knew she’s not form the royal bloodline.It was whoa. Eclipsa even accepts the wand after discovering that his daughter is alive, just deaged to a baby. Then they left, leaving a confused Star and Marco there. I know I’m not the only one puzzled by the happenings. 

Oh, and yes, Glossaryck is fine and was pretending all this time or something. Was he? If so why? What’s with this dude? “I’ve been trying to tell you about Globgor” Yeah but why couldn’t you talk like a normal person before?? -__-

I have to mention the voice actor change here. They even made a pun in show. Well, it doesn’t sound as good to me. What a shame… I hope it grows on me tho. But Adam said that the new opening will grow on me because it was just that we got used to the previous one… and it didn’t. The current one just doesn’t go as well with the music and is not that lively as the previous one. It’s good… but not better. Let’s see if it’s different with Glossy.

Ok, ok, I think this really has been a long post so, I’ll try to not extend myself so much more.

That final scene was something. Eclipsa entering to the place where her husband is and saying “Hello, my love, we’re home…”

What will happen after this? What are they hinting? Eclipsa doesn’t look like a schemer but this gave a vibe of her planning something against all odds.

She doesn’t look like the evil queen people talked about… at all but we ended with her in front of a BIG crystallized monster. Does that mean something? Is he evil? If so, will Eclipsa join him or maybe will she be controlled by his beloved hubby?

I just know a thing: This cliffhanger is like 10 times better than the one in season 2. Well done SVTFOE crew! I will be expecting nice things for the last season (Ah, that sounds a bit sad ^ ^)Now, hiatus, come to me! I don’t fear you!

Any predictions about what Globgor would become? Another Buffrog that strive for equality between monsters and Mewman, or a stronger version of Toffee that use Queen Eclipsa's infatuate love to his advantage and turn Mewni into a monster kingdom enslaving the Mewmen?

Absolutely no ideas, but I’d cross out “big rampaging behemot” because that’d be Meteora 2.0 and that’s boring and repetitive.

4, 7, 10 and 12

4. Your current campaign.

I’m currently in three, all online.

Ascension 2.0 is a 5e campaign–one of the central plot points is that there has suddenly been a mass increase in people ascending to godhood. People are trying to discover the reason why, and possibly what it means for the universe at large. Our party is a mishmash of people from incredibly different walks of life, I’m super engaged in all their personal plots and the DM does a great job of encouraging that.

I’m in a nameless Pathfinder game that’s just listed on Roll20 as “Two Assholes” because that’s what the party is–a human barbarian who acts out every impulsive thought he has and a giant mantis lady who thinks the entire world fucking revolves around her. Our DM’s been building this setting for a long-ass time, and it really shows, the world is so alive and I find myself pondering all the mysteries he’s setting up for us in down-time.

My other 5e game I just refer to as “the gobbos” because the party is just 3 goblins. It started as a one-shot and everyone got so attached to our characters that we kept it going. Right now the overarching plot is just these nerds traveling away from their home and having various misadventures. I think my favorite thing about this one is that our DM really has a lot of fun creating atmosphere, you can always tell he spent time preparing all the music and game props with care.

7. Your favorite downtime activity.

So I’m actually not sure if this question means “between games” or “downtime in-game” so I’ll answer both.

In-game I tend to try to come up with flavor things for my character to be doing. They often have hobbies or want to progress their own quest in little ways. The most fun one so far has been my Aasimar, who receives direct telepathic messages of what he should be doing at any given moment–and often just does them without questioning. So I’ll have him do stuff like buy a stuffed boar from a shop and place it under a tree in a park and leave, not giving any follow-up at all.

Between games, I really like to create and listen to character-themed playlists. Sometime I would love to refine them and show them off, music is a huge inspiration for my writing and listening to them before a game really helps me snap in-character.

10. Your favorite enemy and the enemy you hate the most.

So I actually have been trying to avoid reading the monster manual during my D&D experience. I figure I only get to experience the surprise of a new enemy once in my life, and since I’ve never DMed I try to keep myself as spoiler-free as possible.

So my answer right now, for both of them, is kobolds. I love kobold-lair dungeons at low levels. Every single one I’ve encountered, the party vastly underestimates these little lizard nerds and get stuck in loony-tunes style shenanigans when the traps start springing. This is also the exact reason why I hate them. Also because slicing up little scaly dudes just makes me sad.

12. Your in game inside jokes/memes/catchphrases and where they came from.

I can’t tell you where most of these came from, and a few are just better without context. I feel like I’m missing so many.
