Tarooooo!! How would Kanoa would react if, during a training with Alicia, they part ways for some hours and the next time he has hints of Alicia is when he passed near a basement? Maybe by some kind of accident the door closed and trapped her inside, and despite she was banging on the door, it wasn't heard until Kanoa went looking for her.
When Kanoa opens the door and enters the basement, it's almost pitch black. And even then, he can notice Alicia's silhouette curled up against a wall. As soon as he gets near her, she looks up with absolute fear in her eyes.
"No more." She begs, trembling as she hugs herself, lost in the panic. "Please, no more. Just stop it, please."
Basically, when Alicia accidentally ended locked on the basement, it brought back traumatic memories from Angola. And since it lasted for hours, it just dragged her even deeper in her panic.
Talofa Wiiiiiiiitch! And oh my goodness! Alicia! The poor baby! 🥺
Ok! Kanoa DID have a feeling that Alicia wasn’t around. So he went to look for her and asked some of her recruits if they had seen her. Until one of them mentioned that she went to get something from the basement.
It shouldn’t take THAT long to get something from down there, right? Or maybe she was still looking for it. He didn’t think much but he went there anyway. To see if Alicia needs help. (Which she DEFINITELY need one)
When Kanoa saw that the basement door was closed, he thought that Alicia might’ve left. But something in his heart that it feels like it’s telling him to check inside QUICKLY. So he went without questioning.
And as soon as he opened the door, everything was pitched black. He doesn’t know why and he tried to find the light switch but saw that the light wasn't working. He needs to talk to Alicia about finding someone to fix it. And that’s when he heard a sniffle.
He was confused to hear SOMEONE crying. So he stepped inside further in, trying to adjust his eyesight as he saw a figure, curling up against the wall.
“Um…hello?” Kanoa tried to get that person’s attention but saw they did not respond. And as soon as he stepped closer, he saw it was Alicia. “Licia? Oh my god. What happened? Why are you curling up like this?”
And when Kanoa crouched down and reached out to her to tap her. He felt a bit surprised to see Alicia turning around and was scooting away from him. He was VERY confused until he saw her eyes. Her eyes were filled with FEAR.
“Licia…?”
“No…n-no more…please…” Alicia’s voice trembled like a broken record. “Please…no more…Just stop it, please…”
Kanoa was just crouching there to see his dear friend was tearing up and was shaken. It suddenly gave him a flashback. Back to where he had found Tiala from that mission. Seeing his sister, laying on that very hospital bed, all shaken and trembling when she saw him. Those eyes filled with fear and horror when she saw Kanoa. Showing how much they PAIN his poor sister.
And now seeing that image onto Alicia. The reflection of his friend. He could tell whoever had done it to her. They did her BADLY. And it gives him the urge to reach out to her but not too sudden. Because experiencing from the past of someone who has trauma. He needs to take it nice and slow.
“Licia. I won’t hurt you. I won’t touch you unless you want me to.” Kanoa’s voice started to soften on the shaken Alicia. He sat down on the ground while folding his legs as he gave her a soft smile. Reaching his hand out to her. “I promise I won’t do anything to you. I just want to talk.”
Imagining Alicia was just staring at him and then onto his hand. She hesitated before hearing his soft voice. It had slowly snapped her out of her traumatic imagination before seeing her best friend. Her tears still poured down as she reached out for his hand and took it.
Kanoa just smiled at her as he gently pulled her over and let her sit on his lap. “I’m here, Alicia. I’m here. And I won’t hurt you. I won’t harm you. You are safe.” His soft voice had gently gone through her ears as his friend started to relax.
Alicia closes her eyes a bit and lays her head against his chest. “I’m sorry…” Is what she said. Feeling so weak and embarrassed that Kanoa had to see her like this.
“Why are you saying sorry? You were just having that episode.” Kanoa said as he comforted her while rubbing her side. “I don’t blame you for it. We all have that. So don’t you dare saying sorry for something that you tried to get through. And I’m here for you every step of the way.”
Alicia had lifted her head up to look at her caring friend. Seeing his smile before getting a friendly kiss on top of her head. She smiled a bit and started to snuggle up against him. “Can…Can we stay like this for a bit?”
“As LONG as you need, o la'u uo.”
AAAAAAHHHHHH!!! I was SUPPOSED to answer it NORMALLY but I can’t help it but to make it out of the story! Ugh! Anyway, I hope this answers your question! I really do enjoy these two! Their friendship has my HEART! Thank you, pele! Love ya!

DC prompt - "baby bird search&rescue" [AKA dimensions hoping for ... fun fix it]
So. It's basically batkids from badman!verse(s) gather to save their alters. Inspired by "Through the Looking Glass" series, especially "Another Mirror" and "According to Our Light" by byrambles @byrambles
"Well, mister Wayne," says Caroline. "That was so interesting! would you like telling me more about it?"
And into his ear, she whispers "Maybe somewhere... more private?"
[this Brucie hasn't been seen with a woman for nearly a month. According to her calculations, this evening is the one he's supposed to do something scandalous. The paps already got a photo of them, and that playboy rule he plays needs to keep his persona]
"Straight to the point," the airhead laughed. "I appreciate a lady that knows what she wants". And he laughs in that annoying way. She doesn't show her irritation. Her mother taught her better.
They leave the building for a short walk.
[She nearly has him. Just a little more doziness, and he'll think she'll fall asleep before anything happens. That she can be stored and used as a prop for the tabloids].
Their quiet walk is stopped as a black-wearing figure jump from a nearby tree, pointing a gun. "Wen Mara?" they say. Where's Mara?
"Where. Is. My. Daughter?"
-
"Wh-what's going on?" Caroline asks in fear. Hoping it would work and this whole op's not FUBAR.
"I found young Damian, possibly nine, locked up in his room," they say. "And an older Damian, about sixteen years old, locked up in the basement." And the voice might be trembling, but her hands stay calm as she aims her gun at the man's head.
"Now tell me, what did you do with them?"
She notices dark figures following them. The dark knight's companions are here, all eyes on the attacker. She's a civvie. No one notices her.
[This is Ghula they deal is, which usually means reliability. But there are children on the line, and THOSE children especially, and facing the Dark Knight can only trigger her that much before she breaks. The situation has to be deescalate, ASAP. And for that, J needs to feel safe]
She does the only thing that she can - she holds the man on a lock hold, put a knife to his throat, and kiss his cheek. The neurotoxin in her lipstick would make him lose muscle control in a few seconds.
"It's okay," she tells softly to her- (sister, granddaughter, idol, friend) companion. "You are safe, Ghula. He can't hurt you. Can you hand me over the gun, please?"
She keeps her motions calm. Her body language open and relaxed. "It's okay".
The other woman look at her desperietly, and just says "I can't find her, Anka. I couldn't find anything about her. What did he do to my daughter?" But she does put away her gun.
"It's not what we thought," Caro- Anka says. "It's a D-type verse. That Damian is the son of Talia, and he doesn't have a twin."
And her partner is still shaking, still scared. "But my daughter, my - she's not safe. She's young so young and-"
[Jul isn't really there, she knows. She thinks about things that happened over a decade ago. But just because it's in the past doesn't mean it's dead and gone. Memories have a way of hunting you, wandering around in your hollow body].
"Anka to Nest," she opens her comm. "Anka to Nest, Do you copy?".
"Loud and clear, Chiquita! qué pasa?" the voice on the other hand is filled with energy.
"We have sort of a problem, Rico. I'm with Ghula. Can you get Zhrira on?"
"No hay problema, hermanita!"
"I'm not your-"
And then there's a small voice on the com "Jidti? What's up?"
**
It started with this:
I just have this scene, Caroline try to tempt good! Brucie during a gala in order to get into the Manor/learn more, etc.
Then Julie come in, and sort of monologue with "you promised me, you promised I could make sure my nightmare is over" with a gun in trembling hands.
Caroline: no, you can't!
J: why NOT? You promised, you told me I'm the only one! You told me there's no more! But he still has the baby!
C: Damian Al-Ghul -Wayne is the son of Talia. I promise, I checked.
J (sobbing): he can't have them! He can't - he can't hurt him! Please no, please don't-
C (hugging her) : it's okay, I used my lipstick. he'll pass out in a minute and we could interrogate him.
The batkids (watching from the rooftop): ...WTH?
**
background\detailes
Similar to the " Through the Looking Glass" Series, but several batkids from different verses start looking for their alters and kill their abusers.
It can go something like this (I keep the AUs by number):
AU1 - a badman verse - B is abusive in all ways towards his robins. the death of 15.7 yo fem!Jason (Juliet). no Red Hood arc.*(undercut) Juliet gives birth to Damian and Mara. Talia already has a 5 years-old kid, Athanasia, and the kids grow up together. Also, Talia (formally\ de-facto) adopts Juliet and is a good mom!
back in Gotham - 12\13 yo Fem!Tim become Robin, include everything.
PLOT TWIST: 15 yo Tim is JJ, turtured for about 6 months before escape\rescue.
Tim is 16? 17?, and B gets lost in time. She goes looking for him and ends up in the LoA. Ras is creepy and courting her as canon, offer her help if she'll agree letting him court her. she's tirsd with no resources so she says yes.
In the league she finds Juliet and her kids (which are, technically, Ras (great-)grandkids. She finds out things are... more then she knew.
Anyway they build the machine. She finds out it's actually a portal to different dimensions.
AU1!Tim accidently? saves batclan from their badman. She goes by Anka andJul goes by Ghula (you can have Dick/someoneelse go as Joud, or just leave it here) (Yes I think I'm funny)
الجود والغول والعنقاء ثالثةأسماء أشياء فلم توجد ولم تكن
[rough translation: "Al-Joud (goodness, kindness), Al-Ghoul, and Al-Anka are three names of things, that did not exist and never will"]
other major plot twist undercut, include mentions of non-con, rape, underage, and batship (no graphic, short mentions of pregnancy, and usual badman things).
Also, Caroline married Ras, so she's TECHNICLLY J's grandma (and Dami's great-grandma).
"Why would you do that?" Jason(? Duke?) asks in horror. "He's such a creep!" "He helped me," she counts on her fingers. "He has many resources I'm getting access to. He has heirs, so I'm not expected to... carry anything. " "But he's so OLD!" says another. "Do you even love him?" [children. They are all CHILDREN. she sighs.] "What does it has to do with anything?" she asks. "It's a partnership. I'm his second-hand, second-in-line, direct heir if anything will happen to the league before any of the future heirs are ready. What does 'love' have to do with this?" There's a moment of silence. "And he gave me Joker's head on a stick as a courting gift," she adds. "How could I say no to this?" [In the background, Jason looks B straight in the eyes as he loudly thinks about proposing Ras].
Other AUs:
Main squad:
AU1 - Dead!Verse (all batkids assumed dead - Dick is Renegade, J after warehouse).
Looking for Bruce, Caroline (Fem!Tim) marry Ra's, and find Juliet (Fem!Jason) that was (tw csa mention, underage, non con) J was pregnant when she died, and Talia found her. She gave birth as a still Zombie, and was later put in Laz Pit. She's Damian bio mom Good mom Talia, creep-but-not-as-canon Ras. At first, Caroline went looking for B to get him back. But she then learn how fucked up the things he did were, and take it as her personal mission to kill him
she looks at her sister/granddaughter and promises her she'll never have to be afraid again.
The machine can move through dimensions too, apparently, and she decides to look and save some of the others (as one does).
C find out about "Another Mirror" verse, and the team's about to go rescue the kids there, when all of a sudden they are taken by another Batman and Superman. New plan is needed. This universe is harder to get in, even with Oracle! Duke's powers (they got weird after a Joker attack, he was gassed and has seizures). ...
Along the line, the team gains:
AU2: Reverse Robins! - Damian as Renegade(/Talon? Gray Son?), Duke as Oracle, Tim as JJ/Red Hood?(/other name?)
AU3: Big Bro - J, Redhead/Hood - Babs
(In which the Joker shot Jason, and Babs found out about his mom and went looking for her - what ended poorly for her).
AU4:
Rico - Dick grew up with the Todds since he was six. Growing in a Puerto Rican household led to using a different nickname then canon.
Julieta - Rico's younger sister, four years younger. When she's on the rescue-team goes by the nickname "Porto" (it started as a joke from her brother. Unfortunately, it stuck.)
*AU1: Juliet is pregnant (by Bruce, bc Badman).

hello students <:
i wanted to try the 30 days of autism acceptance, so ill be combining all the first four days on this post, sorry for the long one! just as a reminder, autism speaks is a hate group, light it up blue and puzzle pieces are hate symbols, there is no "cure for autism", and (well-researched) self-dx is 100% valid <:
1 April: The typical introduction question! Tell us something about yourself. If you can't think of anything, try these: What do you enjoy to do in your free time? What music or series/show do you like? Are you happy with your current living situation/the people you live with? What's one of your favourite foods?
my name is elio, and in conjunction with autism i also have adhd and dyscalculia. im a gay trans guy in a committed relationship of 4 and a half years (so far). my favorite movie is gone with the wind, and my favourite food is toasted naan bread with goat cheese, pears, almonds, and honey on top <:
2 April: When were you diagnosed and when did you know that you're autistic? If you're self-diagnosed, when did you first suspect that you're autistic and when were you sure?
i don't have a formal paper diagnosis just because it was a very expensive and arduous road for me, and i was worried about workplace and medical discrimination since my dream job is in academia and im trans. i first suspected i was autistic around 14 or 15, and after talking to several autistic people, taking a lot of online screenings, and asking my sister (who has a degree in psychology), i was certain at the age of 17ish.
3 April: How good or bad is your memory for things people say? For example verbal instructions. If you're deaf: Can you lip read? Do you think your autism influences your ability to lip read?
its honestly atrocious. i have to repeat back the instructions multiple times, if i remember them at all. i definitely prefer to write things down or read them to retain information. are there any conversations going on around hyperlexia right now?
4 April: Were/are you in special education? Regular school? Home schooled? A private school? Did it change over time? Did/do you like it?
i went to poor public schools my whole life except for preschool, which was a free private program held in a nearby church basement (welcome to the south, i suppose). i was put in a lot of advanced programs for ela, but was very nearly held back because of math. by the end of high school i had taken 6 AP classes in english and history subjects and the AP Capstone program. i didn't mind school all that much, i was always a teachers favourite student because i was quiet and friendly and generous, etc. etc., but i never had friends after 4th grade until my senior year of high school.
#autism acceptence month#2023#professor lectures#truly sorry for the long post yall i just saw this this morning and wanted to hop on the bandwagon

Here's a vent that's hard to start because it could have so many starts to it but finding the one that gets to the point is hard. It's not uncommon for me to have strong but seemingly useless and out of place memories.
My short term memory is bad but my long term is phenominal. But most of them make sense. A silly quote, a fun antedote, a core memory. But this one doesnt make sense and unfortunately it did so much more lifelong damage than the original comment that started it intended.
I dont even remember what the conversation was. I just remember my brother saying "are we just going to bury you in your underwear and covered in cheeto dust?" And he was making a joke on how he percieved me as a lazy indoor basement nerd. A mild insecurity in my teen and eqrly adult life that i've mostly gotten over. And i've heard enough fat jokes to brush them off so that shouldnt have bothered me. But every time i dig into a bag of chips, or i get crumbs on me, or sometimes when i'm just chilling in my undies i can hear that comment.
It is unusual for thqt to bother me for as long as it has but thinking about it and realizing why it's bothered me has left me with some open wounds to deal with. It wasnt because it was a fat joke. It was because the joke centered around a disrespectful burial. Death is really personal to me. I know how i want to die. If i live to old age and find myself experiencing a poor quality of life or terminal illness i want to be euthanized in dignity and then composted.
Death of a loved one tells you everything you need to know about how thqt loved one was percieved. Prior to this incident my mother had died. That lead to me living with my brother. And at her funeral the only person who cried for her was an 8 year old child too young to realize how fucking evil she was. None of her siblings showed up. A former friend appeared, and left early, the funeral was two years late because the funds to afford it were unimportant, she was buried in a child's grave that i had to dig myself and the only one who put any effort into it was me because i pitied her. I pitied how her behavior drove everyone away from her so severely that nobody even cared about her funeral.
The only people who spoke fondly were people who were kept at a distance. People who didnt know what she was like. The singer was a lady who just went to the church and didnt know her. I did it was my sixth grade algebra teacher who i hated. My sister in law sat next to the urn and played a song on her smart phone that my brother vaguely remembered she liked but that i had never heard her mention and was not exactly appropriate for a funeral. It all felt impersonal. People who were just coming together for an obligation to show compassion and support for a family. But nothing felt like true care. That tells you everything you need to know about her.
So the reason it stuck with me so hard is the idea of being remembered as that joke. A joke. Being remembered as an unclean, unkempt joke. Being remembered as something i always feared being percieved as and felt like very day. And it definitely wasnt supposed to be that deep of an insult. But it echoed for a very long time.
I ran away last september. I havent spoken to my brother since then. I havent spoken to either of my sisters. I call my dad and my aunt. But not a day goes by i dont think about family members and in my little maladaptive daydreaming mind i'm surrounded by people who consider me important and i get to interact with people i care about every day and it's not all complicated.
One time a friend i no longer speak to had taken the time to pull me away from a bad storm hitting the city we lived in. Without that i would have been forced to endure it in my dorm. And when i complained that none of my family gave a damn he got defensive. Insulted even. Because that insinuated i wasnt family. People have two common perceptions of family "your family is the closest thing you have" and "sometimes family isnt blood"9 it didnt occur to him that for me it was neither. My dad was gone, my older siblings ran away, my sister acted lie she hated me and my mom beat tf out of me on the regular. Family in my mind doesnt even register as something that is important at all. Unless i'm just fantasizing. I have such a poor grip on what family looks like that it didnt occur to me he was family by most people's standard. He left too, so i guess in some ironic way he was just like family.
Now i have people who i know care. And a person who is willing to grow with me. But i never really look at these people and think family.

One of my favorite AUs to do for any of my hyperfixations is the Labyrinth AU, as in Jim Henson's Labyrinth which is an absolute masterpiece of a film I've been obsessed with since I was born
I've learned over my life that a Labyrinth AU works for almost every story ever and they're always a lot of fun, but I always thought that the Undertale Labyrinth AU was the most perfect one I'd ever come up with
Then I got into Amnesia
It fits SO WELL and holy crap do I have fun with it, but it might not make much sense if you don't know about the whole main AU with Daniel and Elise so proceed at your own risk
Alright so let's set the stage with characters
Daniel and Elise mix and match Sarah and Hoggle (you'll see what I mean by this later), Alexander is the man himself Jareth, Hazel is Toby, Agrippa's head is Sir Didymus and Weyer is Ambrosius, and Gabriel the Outrider is Ludo (he's my brother's favorite character and he really wanted him to be in the AU)
Now to dive in to what I've been sitting on for a year and a half now
The opening sequence where Underground plays is a montage of Daniel setting off on the expedition and finding the Orb
The next thing we know, Daniel has been amnesia'd and finds a note from himself telling him that he has to get to Alexander to save his sister Hazel before the clock strikes thirteen, so he makes his way through the castle with strange spooky happenings going on around him the whole way. He hears the voice of a little girl in danger, he doesn't know where she is but he wants to find her and save her before something terrible happens. The strange spooky happenings come to a peak in the castle's Basement Storage, and when he comes to the top of the staircase the girl suddenly appears in front of him. Daniel is relieved and says, "Oh thank goodness, I thought you might be dead!" Elise is confused and tells him that she is dead, she's a spirit appearing before him. Daniel is crestfallen and laments that he was too late, he wasn't able to get to her in time. Elise says dryly, "Oh yes, if only you'd caught up to me sooner, that would have helped me." Over the course of their conversation, Elise realizes that Daniel has no memory of anything, including her, and is trying to survive long enough to reach his sister at the center of the castle. Elise doesn't know what to do now; she's spent all this time trying to wreak vengeance on him, but he doesn't even know who she is or why she should be important to him. She needs some time to think over what to do, so she shows him the correct way forward and then leaves him on his own again.
In the meantime, Hazel is in the Orb Chamber with Alexander and several Gatherers, she's very nervous and uncomfortable so Alexander decides to do something to put her at ease and DANCE MAGIC DANCE! The Magic Dance sequence is intercut between Hazel loosening up and becoming friends with Alexander and all the monsters, and Daniel scrambling his way through the dungeons nearly dying to Grunts left and right. Alexander also shows Hazel some cool alchemy tricks and she's quite adept at them...
Daniel then falls into the Oubliette where he meets Elise again. She has decided that as long as he has no memory she will help him because his sister needs them. They travel through the Sewers of the castle until they encounter Alexander. Then one of my favorite jokes in the movie for Elise: Alexander: "Hello, Lisa." Daniel: "Elsie!" Elise: "Elise!!!" And then of course THE CLEANERS!! At some point during this chase Daniel turns to try and help Elise along and Elise has to remind him "I'm DEAD!!!" to keep him going so he won't die
They take the ladder up to the Nave and meet Agrippa, as well as Weyer who is not actually physically here, but he's astral projecting himself from the Other World like Tihana does to help out. At this point in time Agrippa and Weyer are the beggars who share a head lmao, they're arguing but genuinely need the help. Daniel and Elise set off again after agreeing to try and find a way to help Agrippa, and the secret passageway they find behind the wall leads them all the way back to the beginning of the castle, where they find Gabriel who has broken inside after Daniel and the Zimmermanns never came back to try and find out what's going on. Daniel gains some more information from Gabriel, which makes Elise wary. What will Daniel be like if he gets all his memories back? Daniel tells Gabriel the whole deal with Hazel, and Gabriel agrees to help them and they traverse back into the castle together.
Now this is one of the only major blank spots I have in this AU, Daniel and Elise end up bonding a lot during this time with Gabriel but somehow they all get separated from each other. If anybody did a "Hoggle is Hoggle's friend!!!" moment it would be Daniel, but I don't know what might cause it. But suffice it to say the three of them end up separated, Daniel ends up going through the torture chambers and getting all his memories and the Orb shards back all by himself, and then heads into the Chancel where he is greeted by the group of Grunts, aka the Fire Gang. After avoiding them for the length of the song, Elise finds Daniel and shows him a safe way out of the room. The two are running to make sure the Grunts can't follow them, and Elise is so busy looking over her shoulder she accidentally leads them into the kaernk's well in front of the Transept. Daniel is also so busy looking over his shoulder that he trips and falls headfirst down the well, so Elise quickly has to follow him to make sure he doesn't die.
There's a very narrow safe space to walk down here, and they end up reuniting with Gabriel, Agrippa's head and Weyer, who are now Didymus and Ambrosius. But while crossing over the kaernk-infested water to the other side, the boxes Daniel was using end up scattering off in all directions and he has to grab on to a chain hanging from the ceiling, his toes dangling far too close to the water for comfort. Elise, Agrippa and Weyer are all panicking having no idea what to do, when Gabriel takes out his shotgun and simply shoots the kaernks, seeing as they're the only enemies in the game who can be killed. They can all then safely traverse the water.
Here's where Daniel and Elise start to really mix and match Hoggle and Sarah. Daniel begins to hear Alexander's voice in his head taunting him about the things he's done, about how much easier it would be to forget again than to carry on with this knowledge and try to really put things right. There hasn't been time yet for Daniel to admit to Elise that he remembers everything now, and he's in fact trying to hide from her that he got those memories back, but she can tell that he's acting differently, looking at her differently. She starts to suspect, and eventually confronts him about it when the others can't hear. Daniel is distraught and admits to her that he did get those memories back and he wants to make it up to her and make it right, but he doesn't know what to do or say right now besides focusing on saving Hazel and Agrippa before trying to do anything else. Elise is somewhat mollified by this enough to drop the matter, but there's a strong tension between the two of them now that the others can't understand. Alexander's voice keeps whispering to Daniel, telling him where he could find another potion that would not only cause him to forget all of this but make him happy; he could leave all his troubles and cares behind forever. Daniel succumbs to this temptation and sneaks away from the others. Elise notices and follows him, she only catches up once he's already downed the bottle. When she sees him escaping his responsibilities and accountability yet again, she's not only irate but deeply hurt. She'd thought he'd turned a corner, she'd thought he could be different. But clearly not. Elise is so upset she leaves Daniel to his fate and runs away from the others too. Daniel briefly curses himself, "Damn you Alexander! No.. I chose it.. damn me," before he's swept away into the ballroom scene...
The ballroom scene is just too cool not to use. And the lyrics of As The World Falls Down fit SO WELL for this for them!! So yeah, same thing pretty much, but the whole time Daniel is experiencing flashes of certain memories, of good times with Alexander, the way Alexander helped him and was so caring toward him, the way Alexander swooped in as his savior, all things that are meant to keep Daniel so enraptured with Alexander that he'll remain in the illusion forever. But when he comes across the memory of Alexander comforting him after Elise's murder, it stirs something in the back of his mind. He keeps going back to that memory, trying to figure out what it was that had him in that state, and when he finally remembers everything comes flooding back all at once, Elise and taking the potion the first time, Hazel taken captive by Alexander, betraying Elise and letting her down yet again. Daniel quickly breaks away from Alexander and shatters the illusory world to get back to what he knows he needs to face up to. And Alexander is disappointed...
Instead of a junk woman, Daniel faces yet another illusion, this time of himself. He needs to beat his own demons on his own to be able to continue on. His illusory self is Daniel as he was when he wrote the final journal entry - convinced that he did nothing wrong and everything is all Alexander's fault, and he's an innocent victim and doesn't need to work hard to put any of this right since it's not his fault. Daniel almost falls prey to this much easier and more comfortable view of the situation, but he knows it's not right and is able to break free from the illusion once again. He knows he has to save Hazel and put things right with Elise.
In the meantime, Elise has come to the conclusion that even though Daniel is a selfish old boy, Hazel and Agrippa still need to be saved. If he won't be the one to do it, then she will. So she's gone to rejoin the others.
Now that he's completely back in his right mind again, the full impact of what he's done hits him for the first time and he sinks into despair. He comes to believe that he's already failed in his mission and there's nothing he can do to fix it for anyone. He sees the others all walking past him to the Chancel, and when he hears the things Elise is saying about him he's absolutely convinced. He knows he's the only one who can mend an Orb, so he does this with the pieces he still has. He plans to put the Orb in place and then let the others go forward to do the rest, leaving himself to die.
But when Daniel gets to the Chancel, he finds the others being attacked by a Brute! He knows there's nothing any of them can do against it, but when he sees Elise stand in front of the others as if to protect them, and that beast coming for her, a different part of himself takes over. He climbs onto the dome in the middle of the Chancel and throws himself on the Brute from behind, grabbing it around the neck and trying to wrench it over the edge. He eventually succeeds, but topples over the edge with it. Gabriel attempts to save Daniel and is pulled over the edge too. For the purposes of this AU, the bottom of the Chancel is filled with water, which saves Daniel and Gabriel's lives but dooms the Brute. And going off of the theory that the Brute is Wilhelm himself, this means he finally gets to rest and no longer has to continue on as such a creature. After watching him drown but seem at ease, Gabriel grabs Daniel and drags him up onto a ledge near the wall. The others frantically find a way to safely get down there, and as they do Daniel and Gabriel awkwardly try to have a conversation with each other, but they still hardly speak the same language. When the others finally reach them, Elise tells him what a stupid thing that was to do, but also thanks him for coming back. Agrippa also thanks him and tells him how brave he was to try and save them. Elise sighs and tells Daniel that Hazel needs him, and they won't be able to finish this without him. Daniel looks at her and very sincerely tells her how sorry he is. She doesn't respond, instead only says, "Let's get going, shall we?"
Alexander now sends everything he's got at the group as they make their way back to the top of the Chancel. Weyer uses the Orb to enchant Gabriel's gun so it will do damage to Gatherers, but then gets separated from Agrippa's head and runs around looking for it during all the ruckus. Daniel, Elise and Gabriel meet up with him at a certain point and Weyer tells Daniel their only hope for getting through this many creatures is to call the Shadow. Daniel is appalled by this notion, isn't this what he's been trying to avoid all this time?! But Elise confirms that it's a good idea, and Daniel relents and learns the spell from Weyer as quickly as he can. The Shadow starts taking down Gatherers left and right, Elise can see the panic flaring in Daniel's eyes and tells him to stay calm but also to run!!! They find Agrippa's head, make it up to where they can spend the Orb to get past Alexander's defenses, and to the door to the Inner Sanctum. Alexander's defenses were lowered enough to allow Daniel to enter, but Weyer and Elise can't being magical beings themselves, and Gabriel decides to stay behind to hold the door from any lingering Gatherers. Weyer reminds Daniel of the plan to get Agrippa through the portal, and Elise and Daniel have a farewell with many unspoken feelings. So Daniel takes Agrippa's head and enters the Inner Sanctum by himself.
Within You.... the lyrics of the song are quite perfect for Alexander to Daniel I think. So in this scene, Daniel is Sarah, Hazel is Toby, and Agrippa's head is the little crystal ball. Alexander takes the head from Daniel and throws him, so Daniel is not only trying to chase down Hazel but also Agrippa's head. Hazel screams when it initially rolls up to her, but Daniel tells her to stay calm and that he's a friend. He also tells Hazel to stay put so he can reach her, but she chases Agrippa's head too to try and help. "D-Daniel, your, um, friend rolled that way..! I can get him!!" They all three keep running around the staircase chamber, Daniel eventually finds and scoops up Agrippa's head and holds him close so as not to lose him again. He shows Hazel that he has him and tells her again to stay put, but now the Shadow is closing in. Daniel tells her to stay away from the red residue at all costs, but the closer it gets the more Hazel has to move again. Finally, Hazel is brought to the very center of the chamber, with a hole behind her and the Shadow closing in from all sides. Daniel sees her from a balcony far above her. "Stay where you are!!" he tells her again. "I'll come to you!" "How?!" Hazel cries. Daniel knows he only has one option. So he jumps.
The world starts falling apart around him, and when he lands he's in the Orb Chamber. Alexander appears in his true form. The standoff begins!! Daniel knows the plan is to send Agrippa through the portal, but when he notices the portal can be brought down entirely he is very tempted to take that course purely to spite Alexander. But he's able to resist that temptation for Agrippa's sake. Alexander thinks that Daniel wants to get through the portal himself; he has no idea Daniel is going to just throw Agrippa's head. Daniel tries to keep his face and mind blank so that he won't give this away to Alexander. When the portal opens, Daniel sees the joy on Alexander's face, he sees how easy it would be to knock the whole thing over, and he sees Agrippa's head in his hands. He steps forward and throws Agrippa's head as hard as he can. Alexander is utterly shocked, and Daniel tells him, "You have no power over me!" The Shadow consumes them both, Daniel is saved by Agrippa and Weyer, and ends up back home as if nothing had changed at all.
Immediately Daniel runs upstairs to make sure Hazel is okay, and finds her sleeping soundly in bed. After tucking her in and giving her a kiss on the head, he heads back downstairs to bring the Orb that appeared back home along with him to his room with a sigh. Once the Orb is sitting in front of his mirror with him, he sees Agrippa speaking to him inside the mirror. He turns around, but his room is empty. Yet when he looks in the mirror again, Agrippa and Weyer both assure him that everything turned out fine and that they made sure Gabriel made it out safely, too. Then their image fades away, and Elise is the one speaking in the mirror. Daniel's breath hitches and he clutches the edges of the mirror. "If you ever need us-" Elise is saying, but Daniel cuts her off. "I need you, Elise." She raises an eyebrow and says disbelievingly, "You do?" "Every single day, for no reason at all, for any reason at all, I need you." Elise looks at him silently, not betraying any emotions on her face. Then she says, "Well why didn't you say so, dummkompf?" When he turns around, this time they're really there! Hazel is awakened by the hubbub and then it goes straight back into my main regular AU LMAO
This isn't a perfect explanation and it's not fully detailed, but it's monstrously long as is so I will leave it here, I'm quite happy with this AU though, and it's the only Labyrinth AU I've made where the entire setting works without having to use the Labyrinth itself at all! All we had to do was add a couple of rooms to Brennenburg castle and boom
(Also in case anyone was wondering Alexander plans to bring Hazel through the portal with him and give her to Tihana as a peace offering, this is a running joke I have with my brother)
#i would literally KILL to have any of this drawn at all even just elise in hoggle's hat#i've asked my brother to and he won't lol#also what i wouldn't give to talk through the whole movie with someone lmao#long post#cw long post#amnesia labyrinth au#amnesia tdd#amnesia au

1st version of a prologue of a novel idea I am putting together
Please let me know what you think! I am open to constructive critisicm.
October 10th, 2000
Celine Dubois. She was a detective from France, and Mama's friend; she was 26 at the time. When she came to our town to hear about the disappearances, it was a wake up call to this place that this wasn’t an ordinary situation.
“Tell me about your little sister, Henry” She asked me softly, in a thick French accent. “What happened the night she disappeared?”
I looked at the grass, every memory, down to the scents of the fresh cut grass and the baseball field, came rushing back. “I was waiting my turn to pitch in the game,” I started, twiddling my fingers together. “I watched her playing near the woods. I took my eyes off her for one second… and she was gone. She wasn’t by Mama. Then I heard Mama scream Sally's name. Everyone stopped, and we all… just knew. Sally was taken into the woods.”
Celine gave me a sympathetic look. “I’m sure that is hard for you. You’re so young. How are you feeling?”
She was right. I was only 10 years old at the time. At the thought that Sally was missing, hurt or dead, made the tears from yesterday come back in an instant. I couldn’t hold them back.
Celine gave me a hug, and I only cried harder. I could feel her expensive French jacket absorb all the tears I let out. Soon enough I maintained the tears and sat upright again, adjusting my glasses. “I understand,” was all Celine said.
August 27th, 2006
School was awkward for the next 2 years. I was stared at by everyone as I walked down the hall. They treated me like I was Grandma’s vase, like if you poke me the wrong way, I’ll shatter. By the time I was 12, it was gonna make me break more than Sally’s disappearance at this point.
I had no friends until mid-high school, when finally Sally’s disappearance was declared a cold case. My sophomore year, I met Mudvirce. He was actually the daughter of Celine, but he was born and raised here in America. I learned that his name is actually Michael, but he went by Mudvirce because he hated his name; his hair was long, black, and silky, down to his lower back. He was a fellow outcast, along with his sister, Michelle. She had black wavy hair down to her shoulders, and dark brown eyes, just like her brother. She and Mudvirce played in a local metal band; they played in a few basements every weekend. Mudvirce was on bass, Michelle was on drums. I was the opposite of them. I was the art kid, the writer kid, the nerd. I liked to stay home and write and draw at my desk. My room and my clothes looked vintage-esque. But that didn’t stop me, Mudvirce and Michelle from being friends. “Weirdos of any kind need to stick together. We’re all what we really have,” was what Mudvirce told me.
I met Marcus that year as well. He was a very eccentric character: his hair was dyed bright pink and down to his shoulders; and all his shirts were explosions of neon colors on black; he was loud, but not obnoxious; he loved video games and music. He and I, despite not liking the genre, always go to Mudvirce and Michelle’s gigs.
With friends comes enemies as well. Stacienna McRowell was some girl Michelle secretly dated back in 8th grade. They broke up last year, and Stacienna swore to make Michelle’s life a living hell. She made enemies with my friend, she made enemies with me.
Staciella’s boyfriend, Jaxon, is a piece of work, too. He’s like a puppy dog, following Staciella around and doing everything she says. He never knew of his girlfriend’s and Michelle’s relationship, but she doesn’t like her, so neither does he. He’s a clear enabler of her actions and shows no sign of stopping.
This junior year will be the first year in 6 years that I start with new friends, fun experiences, and a secure sense of happiness, and there is nothing now that can take that away from me. Right?

Tutorial: Wake Up (Part 1)
SOME TIME… SOME PLACE… IN ANOTHER UNIVERSE...
Astrid’s Memory Bank: Accessing Memory…
“Hey,” a voice called out to me. “Hey,” it rasped again, but all I could see was darkness.
“Astrid! Wake up! Astrid...”
Familiar, it was a voice that had annoyed me for some time. Slowly, I opened my eyes. I will be honest; I would have preferred to stay asleep. Life had not exactly been the easiest for me. My days were nothing to write home about. Even more, everything was just easier when I slept. Soon, my blurry eyes came to focus on the white clouds slowly making their way across the blue canvas sky. Tilting my head, I turned to face where the voice originated. It was my annoying older sister, Petra. Suddenly seeing her made my mind pulsate with aggravating thoughts. All I could think of was how we got here. Why were we here? And why… Why were we lying on this hill in a grassy field? No wonder I fell asleep. As the wind hit my face, all I could feel was that cool afternoon breeze. And I could smell the fresh ripening of newly bloomed flowers. This place was tranquil and peaceful. Even in my previous life, I would have enjoyed being alone in a place like this. Unfortunately, I was not alone.
Aggravated, Petra exclaimed, “You fell asleep on me, sis!”
“My bad,” apologizing was all I could do. While moving my head off her shoulder, I wiped off my well-earned drool. It must have been a good nap. I could barely remember what it was like to be awake. “I was too tired to notice. We haven’t had a day off in a long time. Can you remember the last time we did?” But she could not answer me. I knew it had been stressful for her too. How unfair of me to say such a thing… Cue the eye roll… pause for laughter and whatnot… Seriously though, I sat up to take in the breezing air. Thanks to the warm weather, it was not too cold. This place was tranquil as all hell; even I had to admire the vibrant, saturated colors casting over the grasslands. It was beautiful, unnaturally so. And I still could never find the source of the looping flute and harp music that played over us. That damn thing created such an ambient mood. So freaking beautiful… My eyes roamed all on their own, despite me.
A regular city, made up of tall buildings and skyscrapers, could be seen over yonder. Its appearance screamed cold and dark, the complete opposite of where I stood. It was a dark mirror, a dark city punctuated by the transparent boundary that separated us from it. And the barrier was called The Invisible Wall. Inventive, right?
“So, we have to talk,” she cozied up to me. It was never a good sign when she did such a thing. Skeptical, my brow raised. Just what craziness was she about to spill to me? “I snuck out into the city one time.” And there it was…
My head snapped back at her, “Seriously!? When!? How!?”
“Promise you won’t tell anyone?” She definitely knew better. At what point was I supposed to correct her? Honestly? So, all I did was nod my head vigorously. I just needed to know more of her story that she graciously decided to burden me with. So, I played dumb.
“So,” Petra started, “y’know how I’m close friends with the Potioneer Ksarreni?” From how carefree she was, I could already tell I would not like anything she was about to say. “I visited her shop last night, and she showed me her hidden stash of potions resting in the basement. They were made from a forbidden text called The Cheat Book, which Ksarreni explained.” There was no way that it would be called such a thing. Just how on the nose could these people be? “One of them was a Cheat that allowed me to pass through, in and out, The Invisible Wall. The stupid thing wore off in an hour. But I can’t be too pissed. I bought it off her hands for a low price - y’know, since we’re friends - and used it to walk around the city for a couple of minutes, all while shifting into a new identity, of course.”
“Of course,” I added. Just what the hell would I know of such things? Honestly, I think I was more offended that she did not invite me to her fantastic adventure. Not like I wanted to go through the wall… “What was it like?”
“It was nothing special. I mean, what could be? It was nice, y’know, seeing some of the buildings up close and seeing buses and cars for the first time in person. But it’s nothing special compared to where we live.” Petra chuckled. She had a weird way about her. Anytime Petra was downplaying the importance of anything, her nose would move a certain way. Her eyes would shift when she was not honest or truthful with her words. Or maybe it was just me reading into my sister, seeing things I wanted to see… “Maybe one of the reasons why humans don’t like us Metamorphs is because our land was blessed to be corrupted with such beautiful magic.”
“Using the word ‘corrupted’ gives off the impression our land is a plague field of sickness and darkness, but I’d say it’s quite the opposite.”
“Astrid… Come on… It’s just something the humans made up to give the impression that our home is lesser and negative than their own.”
“Well,” I just had to open my big mouth, “how we use the word ‘human’ could also be something that causes a negative impression. I mean… Calling the human’s city Humankind’s Civilization, doesn’t that seem dehumanizing?”
“I don’t get it?”
She always needed help understanding how to communicate with people. Her blank eyes and that plain expression on her face irritated me so much. So, “It makes me think being humanoid isn’t being human at all,” I just had to explain. “And enough to categorize the rest of the Earth outside our home as a separate civilization.”
“As the word ‘humanoid’ defines it: a resemblance to being human. Although we have human-like attributes, we just look like them at the end of the day, and that is all it is.”
“Hmm, I guess.” It was a boring conversation. Being philosophical was something I secretly enjoyed, but not so much talking about it with Petra. That was a whole other thing entirely. So, I laid down and closed my eyes, relaxing my mind as it shifted back into another nap. Naps really were the best part of any day. Yet, understandably annoyed, Petra poked me on the cheek, constantly waking me up again.
“You’re gonna sleep the good days away!” Patience was not her strong suit. Petra was a woman of action, of getting things done. Watching me sleep must have been like slowly drilling a hole in her head, agonizing. I could feel her scheming to find more disruptive ways to wake me up like any bothersome sibling would. However, I was saved by something far more annoying than her. At the moment of her annoyance, her eyes fixated on some low-leveled enemies further away from the hill. They were not as far as the city, located in the grasslands’ unsafe and non-combat-free zones towards the bottom of the hill. How did I know the area was dangerous? Well, the giant floating text marks in the air were a dead giveaway. Sometimes it paid to be observant.
Low-level, the enemies include the usual assortment of bad guys. There were a couple of mutated spiders that stood no taller than children. Had it been my first time seeing them like I did the first go around, I would have passed all the way out. And not to mention, there were also slimes filling out the monster herd as well. Surprisingly, like everything in this far-out place, slimes were more formidable than what their cute and unassuming blob of an appearance would have many believe. Many adventurers who let their guards down around them quickly understood the danger of those little bastards. It really was a rookie mistake to underestimate something just because of looks.
I mean, what kind of idiots would do such a thing? Me. I would. It was the exact error my younger self made when encountering them for the first time. To be fair, that was during my first days of combat training. I did not know any better. At the time, there was no way I would have thought any different. But it was not all bad. Now, slime-killing has become a favorite pastime of mine. I like to call it revenge. And I think about it often. Squishing them… Salting them… Cracking their cores… Even now… Now I think about slaying down those slimy-little creatures and killing them all. I would do it repeatedly when they respawn just a few paces away. That is how this stupid world works. Death only matters for people, not monsters.
“Hey!” Eagerly, I sat up. Just thinking about those little bastards got me excited beyond belief. “Now that you woke me up, you know what I’m thinking?”
“No!” Petera asserted. “We’re not killing slimes. We’ve done that so much it’s starting to kill me.” Extending my tail, I moved it outside Petra’s peripheral vision and slightly smacked the arrow-shaped end on her forehead. “Ow~!” Petra cried out. I have to admit, I got her pretty good on that silly forehead of hers. It was safe to assume that there was an intense stinging sensation now pulsating right on her forehead, hopefully. “What was that for?”
“I was having a good nap, and now you won’t let me even kill slimes,” I crossed my arms and pouted. Childish? Yes! Did I care? No. Who said I had to act my age?
“Well, I’m sorry. I can’t help wanting to look for something bigger, higher-leveled to fight. That’s why my–”
“–level outranks yours,” I rolled my eyes, mocking her. “Yeah, I know. I know.” She never missed an opportunity to rub it in my face. But it was not my fault I was so under-leveled, and slimes deserved what was coming to them.
“You’re only a couple of levels below me,” Petra was still rubbing her head. Did I not mention I got her good? “You’d make for some good competition if you put in the effort. Not to mention getting that childish attitude under control.”
“But that’s my best feature. And, as you said,” I really needed to learn how to control the levels of my voice, “I’m only a couple of levels below you. Don’t let that need for competition make you cocky. A couple of levels means nothing.”
Something was squirming in my pocket. I felt it moving, but I could not recall what it was or how it got there. Either way, I was not some fresh-cut adventurer or some prissy noble. If it was a bug, I would leave it be. But this thing was much larger than a bug, and its form was more similar to a ball than anything else. I would have thought it to be a slime, but they usually have a goopy texture to them. I could still just squeeze the thing and see if it popped. It would only take a good grip, a wriggle of my two bare hands, and a lot of pent-up frustration. Before I could figure it out, a small white ball of light flew from my pocket. How could I have forgotten? I must have been sleeping on it. That white ball was my spirit pet, Buttercup. Fondly, I remember so badly wanting to turn twelve and being allowed to adopt a spirit pet. Each person’s spirit pet was unique, transforming into different creatures upon bonding. One person could have there’s turn into a dog-like beast while others could be as small as a worm. But my lovely Buttercup… She transformed from a white orb into a butterfly with a beautiful spectrum of colors for her wings. Delicate and regal, Buttercup was magnificent beyond belief. There was no greater beauty than the unstoppable Buttercup. Well… Other than me…
“What is it, my Queen?” I asked Buttercup. I could feel Petra judging me, per usual. But Buttercup just flew away, sounding like someone sprinkling fairy dust. It was every time she moved, and I loved it so much. My sister, not as much. Moving around, Buttercup was definitely trying to get us to follow her.
“Looks like she found a mission,” cracking her back, Petra was prepping to do what we did best. A mission, a hunt, a challenge, it did not matter. As long as I had my sister, there was nothing to fear. However, Petra was notably unenthusiastic this time around, “we better follow her because you know how Buttercup always gets when we don’t.”
“Such a shame,” as I wondered what was bugging my sister, I, too, stretched. Good missions always started with a warmed-up body, and that was adventuring 101, the basics that were drilled into us. But… “I was just starting to get comfortable again,” my complaining was definitely getting on my sister’s nerves.
“Wait…” I could tell my sister was cooking up something devious to get back at me. She was so easy to read. It was always the eyes. Her shifty eyes always clued me in when she was scheming to be a special kind of bad. “You think I’m cocky? How about we put that to the test?”
“Heck, yeah!” But I could never pass up an opportunity to wipe that smug look off her face and put her in her place. Meanwhile, Buttercup was moving around increasingly, trying to get our attention. “That way, when I beat you, you can shut up about me being under-leveled.” Frantic, the little spirit pet was buzzing around us furiously. She was such an attention diva. “Yes, we know! We’re coming!” That should have been enough, but my little diva zipped off without us. Now, she had our attention.

Chapter 116
I’m standing between the God of Order and her long-lost, murderous daughter—and all I can think of is how they’re my family.
Family, only separated by a couple hundred generations.
“I do not have an antidote, but if I did, I would not give it to you. I want Cyrus to become a false god. It’s the only way I can be assured of my ultimate vengeance for taking my daughter from me, and he will feel the wrath of a true god when I am done.”
Well…that’s just the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.
Bitch, you literally gave him the God stone so that he could become a god. How the fuck is the Crone’s plan any different from your own?
With that bone-chilling statement, she turns back to Hudson and Jaxon and tosses out, “Thanks, but I think I’ll stick with the winning team.” And then she walks through the portal.
Chapter 116 summary: The crone comes out, and Grace tries to tell Izzy that this is her mother. However, as you can imagine, this would be difficult to swallow even if you hadn’t been brainwashed by your father since before you could form memories. There’s a lot of talking, but it basically boils down to Cyrus having kidnapped baby Izzy and then lying about it. When Rowena showed up for the tea, the crone figured it out, which is why she asked Rowena to go find and bring back Izzy.
Grace tries to ask for the antidote that poisoned the gargoyle army, but the crone insists she doesn’t have it. Nor would she give it to Grace even if she did. She has a plan to make Cyrus suffer, but it apparently doesn’t involve anybody but herself.
Izzy still doesn’t want anything to do with any of this, and tries to leave through another portal Remy opened for her. Grace gets in front of her and tries one last time to try and make her see reason. However, as you can imagine, after having been brainwashed for a thousand years, the girl is not going to fucking listen to anything anybody says.
Chapter 117
[Rowena] wouldn’t be so ill if she hadn’t helped my parents hide my gargoyle.
Uh… No mention of how a psychotic dictator held Rowena in his basement for a decade?
Am I so desperate to save my people and fix my mistake that I’ve convinced myself, convinced my friends, that we are strong enough to win? And what happens if we aren’t?
Chapter 117 summary: After Izzy leaves, some of the other vampires (the ones who are technically named but aren’t important enough for you to actually remember) say that they knew of Izzy. That she hung around at the court a lot. But nobody knew that she was Cyrus’s daughter. Would have never guessed.
They go through to the witch court, where Rowena and Finn thank Grace for having helped rescue Rowena.
Everybody goes off to get some food and sleep.
Chapter 118
“I’m so sorry,” I whisper, because the need to apologize has been eating at me since I saw my aunt on the floor of that dungeon. “None of this would have happened if you hadn’t needed to get the tea for me—”
Chapter 118 summary: Since all of the kids from Katmere are now at the witch court, they have to double up on rooms. And since it’s Finn who’s assigning rooms, Grace ends up with Macy instead of Hudson. (Which is probably for the best, regardless.) Rowena comes by, so Grace goes to take a shower to give Macy a moment alone with her mom.
When she comes out, Rowena and Macy are looking through runes and at magic crystals. Rowena also says that her own sister is letting Macy pick three potions from her store, which Macy finds quite exciting.
Grace then apologises to her aunt for being the reason why Rowena had been locked up for a decade.
Chapter 119
“And the Crone said the first time we visited her that gargoyles are not immune to ancient magic! And that means—” She breaks off as a knock sounds at the door.
Chapter 119 summary: Rowena basically says that it’s not Grace’s fault that Rowena did something. Especially not when Grace herself didn’t even know most of the full picture until a few months ago. She goes on to say that they never meant to keep Grace’s powers locked up for so long. But after Rowena was locked up, it sent everybody into a panic.
Rowena continues on and says that Grace’s wild magic (from the bloodletter) is powerful, and angry that it hasn’t been free. That one day, it’ll overpower her gargoyle and human sides. She also says that Grace has a bit of witch powers, which she would have inherited from her dad. Grace doesn’t believe this at first, but then is happy to have a bit of something from him.

Paw-Paw
Paw-Paw was my first pet, a part of the family before I was born. He was one year older than me and when I was born, he watched over me like I was his. The story starts with my father finding him in the dumpsters behind our house on Florence Avenue. My father said he was only allowed to stay one night, however I have countless memories of that boy until his death. Paw-Paw was aptly named as he would paw paw (more colloquially known as ‘making biscuits’) everything, including my mother’s head. He was a joy to be around and like any younger sibling, I did whatever my older brother did. I’d eat tuna with him whenever he got it as a treat, I’d sit with him in the spot on the kitchen floor where the sun came through the window, I’d sit with him on the windowsill of our big bay window, and I’d take cat naps with him. He was my protector and I could never do anything to rile him up enough to play fight with me. He’d let me hold him for as long as I wanted, he’d chase after the shoe string I dangled behind me as I raced around the house, and while I knew how to treat cats well (because my mother taught me well) I could still get away with being an annoying little kid to him when he would run from any other child who tried the same shenanigans.
Paw-Paw was a fierce and spirited cat. When my sister and I were young, our friends’ dog was playing with us but Paw-Paw didn’t see it as playing and beat up the poor unsuspecting rottweiler. And in his old age, when he heard his brother Chevy barking angrily at another dog he disliked-as the owner just stood there not taking his dog away when ours was clearly upset-he raced outside ready to go berserk on whoever was upsetting Chevy, but was quickly shooed back inside by our mother before chaos broke loose. When he wasn’t beating up dogs, he liked to sneak around outback when the garage door was open, and disappear for hours underneath the beds and in the basement ceiling.
Paw-Paw was 17 when he died July 21st, 2017. I was 16. Until then, I hadn’t lived a day without him in my life and one day I’ll have lived longer without him. I’ll carry him with me for the rest of my life, because I’ll never have another cat like him. His personality was so easygoing. He was a sweet cuddler, wrapping his arms and legs around my body when I picked him up and following behind when he was called. He was a troublemaker that escaped all too much and stole far too much food. He was a lover and a fighter. And you could always count on him to keep your seat warm when you got up and walked away from it. Growing up with a cat is a kind of relationship you can never replicate as an adult. Afterall, he wasn’t my baby, I was his baby.
Prr-Meow, Baby and, Brenda
Prr-Meow was heard crying outside by my neighbor and mother, wearing a dirty pink collar. We had a feral and stray cat problem, so presumably he was kicked out by someone around the neighborhood. I don’t remember the beginning well because when you first meet someone you don’t think they’ll be anything more than a trivial blip in your life. We started taking care of him and bought cheap kibble for him to eat. Whenever we fed him he would make all sorts of noises, so I called him Prr-Meow. Back then, I was doing high school online so I had time to spend with Prr-Meow. I remember one rainy Friday I brought a towel outside to sit with him and for a long time we watched the rain together. By then I was growing attached to him.
Prr-Meow loved to play and chased the fallen crabapples I threw for him across the yards and chased me through the tall grass. He began to follow me when I walked around the neighborhood. He would come with Chevy and I on our walks and sometimes even follow me down the hill towards traffic where the bus stop was. He was so adamant about following us so far that we’d have to distract him when someone was leaving.
One day a black cat showed up, hanging around Prr-Meow. No idea where she came from, but she was skittish unlike Prr-Meow. She liked Prr-Meow and showed up frequently so we gave her a portion of kibble as well. Now when I called for Prr-Meow, I would call for the baby black cat too. I ended up naming her Baby.
It wasn’t very long until another tiny cat appeared, watching Baby and Prr-Meow from a distance. The food probably drew her around the area and she seemed to want to befriend the other cats. She was also skittish, but there was something bolder about her than Baby. It had to have been around October when we named her Brenda because of the ‘Scary Movie’ series we were watching at the time. I had all the time in the world to be around these cats, so I spent hours sitting outside with them watching them eat, making myself small and unthreatening to them, keeping eye contact off of them and slowly inching towards them, and any general behavior to gain their trust. Add the consistent feedings into the equation and in a few months I was petting the girls, so long as the food was around.
Then we went a couple steps backwards. We were working on trying to find homes for them, so a neighbor turned us onto this cat lady who helped us trap, neuter/spay, and release quite a few of the strays in the area. Baby and Brenda underwent the trapping and releasing and while it was good news that they were spayed, they were distraught and distanced themselves from us. Brenda was slightly more agreeable, especially with Prr-Meow and food around, so she was quicker to warm back up and trust me again. Baby hadn’t been completely sold on the contact when they were taken, so she took twice as long to regain the trust of. She didn’t think twice about running away when I got close and when she would let me get close enough she would hiss. For over a year I had been working on building my relationship with the girls and it was a frustrating and grueling process. Somedays, Brenda would walk right up to me and Baby would let me get close without running, other days neither of them wanted anything to do with me. There were plenty of times I wanted to give up, but I persisted because I was already so devoted to them. After it all, I learned something valuable about cats; the key to opening up any cat’s heart is time. My grandmother’s old crotchety cat even let me pet her after enough time had passed. She would hiss and swing at me because she was hurt by children and I was young at the time. I never gave up on trying to pet her and I was ecstatic the day she finally let me. I’d say the day that Baby finally let me pet her again, I felt that same glee.
After a few years Prr-Meow disappeared. I was heartbroken and called for him for days. I didn’t know what happened to him and neither did Baby and Brenda. Once again they distanced themselves. I think they were sad, too, after all they loved him just as much as I did. They stuck together and they still came back for food, but for a few months the girls didn’t want to see me and Prr-Meow was gone. He suddenly reappeared sometime after Christmas and I was so relieved to see him again, but he was different. Now he was the distant one. He ran away from me and he was mean to Baby and Brenda. He didn’t go on walks with us anymore. He started hanging out around the back of the houses where the forest was. He didn’t go back there when I took care of him. It only took a few months to displace him from our family. The last time I saw Prr-Meow, I had left to walk down to the market and when I came back he was dying on our steps. I was in shock and in pain and I was angry because the people who had taken him away from us had changed up his routine and ended up letting him back outside anyway and because of their negligence I blame them for his unnecessary death. I called my family to help me and my father went to the house of the people who had taken him. I had to go inside because I was beginning to get angry with the man who came out to see Prr-Meow. We said to take him to a vet so he could be put down, but who knows what that man did. I don’t know what happened to my boy. I’ll never forgive those people as we speculate that they tried to steal another one of our cats, Korben, who escaped the house without our knowledge; the next door neighbor let us know he was told about “the new cat they just got.”. He was gone for a few days, but thankfully it was only a few days before he came back to us unscathed. Coincidentally that cat was originally found by Prr-Meow. It was about a week after Paw-Paw died. He joined Chevy, my mom, and I for a walk and found baby Korben hiding under a car.
Baby and Brenda are still here and have been under our care for the last 7 or so years. They’re loved by the family and they love us as well. I’ll take them for a walk to the hill and they’ll have a little adventure exploring the very top of it. They’re very expressive. Brenda will scream her little head off when she’s responding to my calls while Baby is lowkey and chirps her greetings to me. She is very, however, very intense about plopping on the ground in front of me and rolling around to get as dirty as possible. Brenda is still the bolder of the two while Baby is still timid. They both accept and expect plenty of pets and I’m working on getting them comfortable with being picked up and sitting inside for a few minutes to listen to all the normal sounds of being in the house. I don’t want them to be outside cats for their whole lives, even though the transition inside won’t be an easy one. The hope is that since they’ll have each other, it won’t be such a traumatic change. I believe that they’re bonded to each other and wherever one goes, the other must follow; although they don’t spend as much time together as they did when Prr-Meow was around, I can still catch Brenda chasing after Baby every once in a blue moon. My relationship with all three of them is vastly different from my relationship with Paw-Paw, because they were, are and will forever be my babies.

Boogeyman, you're sad
I redownload the Facebook app on my phone. I haven't touched it in weeks. It was my primary source while working and connecting with the community while I was a news reporter.
The shell of that person, still friends with council members, the local mayor, multiple firefighters, and parents of children who died at some point between June 2018 and June 2021.
I decide it is time to update everyone on my life. Breaking news reporter at three USA Today papers in New York to an aspiring floral designer in Brooklyn.
Instead of a masculine person posing in photos with me, I share an image of my first girlfriend holding my hips as I wrap my arms around her neck and we dance on New Year's Eve.
A lot has changed. Except my father. I scroll down my feed after posting and see he created yet another Facebook profile that was recommended to me. His bio basically states he is the Boogeyman. Which is an improvement from when he used to only refer to himself as big daddy. *throws up*
I scroll on his page to see months of him posting images about how kids can't blame their parents for their own actions. This is hilarious to me because isn't that what he did?
I grew up without grandparents in my life. He isolated us from any kind of family around the time I was 6 or 7. My earliest memories of playing with my cousins stick in my brain because I've always loved community.
He said his parents would beat the shit out of each other, and he and his sisters were always worried about foster care. I really think he tried to put that fear into me and my brother, so we wouldn't confess at school what went on at home.
To the normal eye, this was a nuclear family living the dream. My parents owned a three-story house with an acre of land and a view of Pike's Peak in the distance.
My best memories at that house are when I'm too young to know about sex. Once that possibility showed up, my father stopped seeing me as his child and more as property. I remember sitting in the basement when he showed up and decided to give me the talk about my period. He says he was a nurse when I was younger but honestly I don't trust this man.
He would tell me that tampons break your hymen, and as a good catholic girl, I was to only use pads. When I couldn't get my period, I went to the doctor and they told my parents I would need to take birth control to help kickstart it.
I remember sitting at the kitchen counter when the pills came in the mail. He was stern and told me these were only for health reasons and I shouldn't think otherwise. We prayed over the pills and I took the first one.
I felt like I was the problem. I always feel like it's my fault, and that is thanks to him. How can I blame the guy?
He only ever hurt me for any mistake I could possibly make. Remote controls stopped becoming associated with watching tv as a family and instead became a weapon to throw.
Dinner knives became subtle threats on the dining table as my mother, brother and I tried to keep a low profile to avoid his tantrum of stabbing the wooden table when he's upset.
My side of the table faced north. My best friend became the clock on the oven. Counting down the minutes to when we would stop being hostages at the table, but instead spread throughout the house.
My bedroom door can open and close, but the wood is busted after one too many times of him deciding he is angry enough to break down my door and wake me up in the middle of the night.
I said the "Our Father" prayer every night before bed and asked God to help my family. I watched Dr. Phil almost every day with my sperm donor and wished we could go on so Phil could address why he's so angry.
Instead of seeking help, I decided to just take it and take it. I thought every day about killing myself. To kill the thing he said changed his life when I was born. To kill any version of the person he wanted me to be.
I remember in 8th grade my teacher asked us to put on A Midsummer Night's Dream skit. For my group, I was to play a man's part and needed to borrow one of my dad's sweaters.
Standing in the closet, my father hands me a brownish knit sweater that I put on. I think he's just as surprised at how boyish I look as I do, so he immediately tells me to not become a dyke.
The harshness of that word infiltrated my brain. I didn't understand. I was just wearing a sweater for a school project. The next day when I wore the sweater, I remember a classmate I didn't particularly like gasp in delight at how much of a man I looked. I remember feeling complete joy but the sudden wave of remembering my dad's words would hold me back.
Anyway, you're wearing all the men's clothes now. You have a girlfriend who adores you. You are nonbinary and not taking anyone's shit. It's a new year and so much growth is waiting.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~
"Pleeaasse, Wan" You pouted once again. You had been begging Wanda for the favour for an hour now; her stubborness was proving hard to overcome.
"I'm busy." Wanda said, her accent strong as she walked around her appartment to collect things for her next mission.
"But will you be busy on the 10th?" You asked from the couch where you watched her disappear into various rooms as she talked.
"I thought you said it was a few days." Wanda quipped, seemingly only giving you half her attention.
"It is." You confirmed with some hope.
"So I'd need to clear my schedule for more than just the 10th." You huffed and rested your head on the back of couch.
"Yes you would. I'm sure Natasha can manage without you for a few days."
"I wouldn't be too sure about that." She muttered.
"Please, Wan." You tried. "I need a win." Wanda stopped by the kitchen counter and gave you a long, considering look. You had long given up on your puppy dog eyes and instead copied her expression as you chewed on your bottom lip.
"I'll think about it." Wanda finally said before grabbing something from the cupboard. It was the best response you had gotten all night and you knew you wouldn't get anything more. So you accepted it and hoped for the best.
Your parents had invited you to their cabin for a few days just like they did every year. It was a beautiful place. You could spend your whole visit in the forest along the back. Or swimming in the clear lake that was a short walk away. The cabin itself was the cosiest place you had ever been and had been where some of your best memories had happened as a kid.
As you got older things changed. Being around your family, especially your parents, wasn't as enjoyable. They had high expectations for their children, expectations that your siblings had met without a problem but ones that you had struggled with. You enjoyed your life. You had the kind of relationships you had always hoped for, you loved your job and you had the perfect balance of the two. But you could never shake the feeling that you had failed.
Your brother was a surgeon who always told you all stories of the lives he saved and the close calls he had swooped in to save people from. One of your sisters was some hot shot lawyer who had done great things like help people wrongly convicted but still put dangerous people back on the street. And your other sister was the CEO of an energy company that you never quite understood. They even all had equally successful partners who loved to talk about themselves as much as your siblings did. You didn't have any of that. But you did have Wanda.
Knowing the Avengers was the only thing about you your family took interest in. They were always subtly hinting at wanting to meet your friends. But you knew the Avengers had to endure enough fan service and didn't want to push your family onto them, especially with how annoying they all were.
However as your family's unrealistic expectations reached their all time high you were sure you wouldn't be able to handle another trip with them without a win, and you were far too petty to take the moral high ground and just not go. Not to mention that was a huge part of you that was dying to see what the Wanda girlfriend experience would entail. Yep, that was what you were asking of Wanda. To pretend to be your partner for the duration of the trip.
You knew it wasn't a smart choice. That if Wanda agreed your crush on her could get out of hand. You knew you would end up getting too caught up in the act. You could have, no - should have - asked Natasha or Yelena or even Carol if she was around. But your family knew you were the closest with Wanda and she would be the one it felt the most natural with, and the most believable. At least, that was what you told Wanda.
"When are you going?" You asked, changing the subject in hopes that Wanda wouldn't suddenly conclude she didn't want to do it (then you really would have to ask one of the others).
"Tomorrow." She answered, keeping her focused tone.
"When will you be back?" You attempted to keep the concern out of your voice but the glance the redhead gave you told you you hadn't done a good job.
"The day after." She said, softer this time. You nodded as you looked down at your lap and tried not to think about everything that could possibly go wrong on her mission.
"Be safe." Wanda strolled over to you and placed her hand gently ontop of yours and gave it a quick squeeze.
"Always."
*
"Got any plans Saturday night?" Natasha smirked knowingly at her friend as they preped for their mission.
"No." Wanda replied as she adjusted her earpiece.
"Nothing with y/n then?" Nat asked, partly genuinely but mostly knowing Wanda would still say no.
"Nope." She said again, biting the inside of her cheek in consideration before speaking again. "Not this Saturday."
Natasha raised an eyebrow in surprise and interest. Wanda rarely made any kind of special plans with you as you would always hang out casual and it was never anything fancy or different. She had always wanted to though.
"Plans for another time?" Nat continued as she double checked her pack.
"Maybe, I'm still thinking about it." The redhead turned fully to her friend at her words, confused at why Wanda was hesitant to spend time with you. "She wants me to go to the cabin with her and her family." Nat had heard all about the infamous cabin and your family.
"That sounds fun." Nat nodded. The cabin sounded fun. Your family did not.
"As her girlfriend." Nat's eyes widened excitedly but before she could speak Wanda clarified. "Her pretend girlfriend."
Nat paused and looked as though she was going to speak for several seconds until she stuck to just giving a confused look.
"Yeah." Wanda sighed. "Thinks it would seem impressive." Wanda had tried not to be hurt over that. She knew you weren't just friends with her to show her off to people, because you never did. But it hurt her to think the only time you could see her in a romantic way was when you were pretending.
"Well," Nat muttered as she adjusted the zip along the front of her catsuit. "Fake it till you make it." It was Wanda's turn to give Nat a questioning look. "Maybe it'll be an eye opener for her."
"You think I should do it?" She asked, fully open to hearing and accepting her friend and mentor's advice in that area.
"Definelty." Nat confirmed. She wasn't sure about it for the reasons she said though. Wanda's crush on you was obvious to everyone except you, just as it was vice versa.
*
You had been overjoyed when Wanda told you she would come with you to the cabin and play along as your girlfriend. She had told you when she came back from her mission, in fact it was the first thing she said after she had let herself into your appartment. It was never really brought up after that, but you couldn't deny you were incredibly anxious on the week leading up to the visit.
On the drive up to the cabin you and Wanda stayed in a comfortable silence most of the time, clearly both lost in thought. You had the radio on for background noise more than anything else, but you would occasionally lightly tap the steering wheel if there was a tune you recognised, oblivious to Wanda's acknowledging smiles.
"So what's the plan?" Wanda asked as she looked at you expectantly. Right, of course the Avenger wanted a strategy.
"Keep things simple, I guess. They know how we met already so we can just say at some point we took things a step further than friendship." Wanda didn't seem convinced at the simplicity of that. "Look they're not going to want to hear about us, not much at least. They prefer the sound of their own voices, they'll be trying to impress you is all."
"Impress me?" Wanda asked.
"Yeah, hope you warm up to them so one day they can invite you to their snobby parties." Wanda chuckled her heart warming laugh as she glanced out of the window, knowing there was a lot of truth to what you said.
"And what are those like?" She enquired curiously.
"I wouldn't know, I've never been invited." You said simply. You had gotten over that a long time ago, gotten used to being forgotten. Wanda clearly hadn't though.
"It will be an honour to turn them down." Wanda said. You shook your head and smiled at her. That did sound pretty nice.
When the cabin came into sight between the trees your nerves spiked. You figited in your seat and bit your lip when you saw some of your family gathered outside, their attention instantly on you. You shot Wanda a quick smile which she returned before you got out of the car.
"Y/n! So nice of you to come." You mum said as her eyes flickered to Wanda more than you. She opened her arms for the shortiest hug in human history before turning to Wanda. "You must be Wanda, we've heard so much." You mum insisted as she brought the redhead in for a hug too. She raised her eyebrows at you over your mum's shoulder and you bite back a laugh.
The others came over to greet you and mainly Wanda in a rush, overwhelming both of you.
"You two will be in the upstairs bedroom on the left." Your mum told you as you went to grab your bags. You did a double take, convinced you had heard her wrong. That was the best room in the house. A big difference from being in the small room in the basement every other time you had been there.
"First one on the left." Your dad confirmed. There was no way your parents were going to be in the basement so you wondered who else had been moved around but didn't ask, knowing whoever it was wasn't going to be happy.
You and Wanda made your way up to the room and you couldn't help but smile at the sight of the spacious room and the door you knew led to your en suite.
"That was...a lot." Wanda summarised as she said her bag under the bed.
"I would tell you it gets better but I don't want to get your hopes up." You sighed as you got a couple of things out.
"It's just a few days." Wanda said despite the fact you should have been assuring her.
"Yeah." You nodded and stared down at the floor. "Now c'mon." You suddenly said as you took ahold of Wanda's hand and laced your fingers together. You missed the startled blush that crept onto her cheeks when you turned around.
Your family were sat outside whispering amongst themselves when you returned. Their interested gaze fell to your entwined hands in an instant.
"So you work with the Avengers?" Your brother, Dalton, said as soon as you both sat down.
"I do, I'm one myself." Wanda said as she continued to hold onto your hand.
"Must be crazy, what are they like?" He enquired.
"They're good." Wanda said simply. Everyone clearly expected something more but Wanda pretended not to notice making you smile.
"I almost did business with Stark once, decided against it in the end." Claire announced proudly. You and Wanda exchanged knowing glances. Stark had told you all about his encounter with your sister, it definetly wasn't her turning him down.
"I was invited to one of his parties." Anna said quickly. "I was busy that night unfortunately."
Bull. Shit.
"Yes I remember working with Doctor Strange when he was still in the medical profession." You gave Wanda an I-told-you-so look as your family erupted into conversation over who had the most contact with the heroes. That had to be a new record of how quickly they started talking about themselves.
They continued like that until your mum called everyone in for dinner. The food smelt undeniably amazing as you took your place at the table next to Wanda and eyed the dishes infront of you. Your parents efforts to impress the redhead weren't all that bad.
Your family continued to catch up and and you and Wanda half listened as you ate. They were all doing as well for themselves as ever and still hadn't learnt any modesty.
Although you were proud of your siblings for what they had all achieved, Wanda had contained four potentially devastating bombs from going off in the space of half an hour a week before but she wasn't going to bring that up anytime soon. Eventually though, the attention turned to you to bring you out of your silence.
"And you're still working in that little café, y/n?" Your mum asked curiously.
"I own it, mum." You corrected quietly as you stabbed some pieces on your plate.
"Ah yes, quite the contrast though, isn't it. Between you two." She said as she pointed at you and Wanda with her fork. You didn't say anything to that because you felt there really wasn't anything to say in response. It wasn't like you hadn't thought that exact thing every now and then.
"The team loves it." Wanda said suddenly making everyone, including you, look at her in slight surprise from speaking up. It hadn't taken your family long to learn Wabda wasn't much of a talker, not to them anyway. You couldn't get her to shut up half the time. "At least one of us goes everyday. If we're lucky we all can. Nothing beats it." She defended simply before turning back to her food to show she wasn't going to say anymore. You smiled down at your plate at her words and the truth of them.
No one said anything in response, clearly shocked from this new information until Dalton spoke up.
"But doesn't Stark like fancy, top of the line, restaurants? I can't imagine him in some random coffee shop, no offence sis." He nodded towards you though you knew he didn't mean it. He couldn't let you have just one win.
"That random coffee shop has catered some of Stark's parties. Not that many though." A smug smile crept onto Dalton's face as he opened his mouth to make a snarky remark but Wanda cut him down again. "Because y/n's invited to the rest as a guest and a close friend." Your family stared at you with open mouths.
"You've been invited to Stark's parties?!" Anna exclaimed. In your defence, your family never wanted to hear about your life so you never got the chance to tell them anything.
"It's not really my crowd." You shrugged. "I just go to hang out with them after." Dalton's jaw clenched in annoyance and he didn't say anything for the rest of dinner. It was only really your mum who kept talking. Telling everyone about her latest travels that fell on death ears.
It was certainly a first for your family.
When everyone had finished their food you and Wanda excused yourselves and said goodnight before retiring to your room. Wanda shut the door gently as you collapsed onto the bed on your back and glared at the ceiling. The redhead shuffled around quietly to get her toothbrush and toothpaste and some other things you weren't really paying attention to and went into the bathroom.
When she came back out she was in her bedclothes and lifted your feet off the floor to turn you so you could fully lay on the bed. You smiled at her weakly.
"You should go get changed." Wanda said as she got her laptop out her bag. "Then you can pick a movie." She announced when she had gotten under the covers and started her laptop. You smiled more and nodded.
You tried not to think about your family and everything they had said at dinner as you got changed but it proved difficult. Everything they had said echoed around in your head but most of all you couldn't shake the disregarding ways they said it. It was as though you could do no right with them. Maybe they would never be proud no matter what you did.
You placed your toothbrush back I'm the holder and rinsed your mouth before heading back into the bedroom to an awaiting Wanda.
You got under the covers next to her and rested your head on her shoulder as you glanced at the Netflix screen and pointed to one of the comedy movies.
About ten minutes into the movie Wanda spoke. "You okay?" She whispered as she continued to look at the screen although that wasn't where her focus was.
"Yeah." You whispered back.
"You can talk to me." She said after a second." You moved your head away so you could see Wanda clearly.
"I'm so glad you're here." You said honestly. She smiled and nodded as her eyes searched yours.
"I'm glad I'm here too." You knew Wanda wasn't glad she had to spend the time with your family. She was glad that she could support you despite their efforts to bring you down. You were incredibly lucky to have her.
You rested your head back on her shoulder and neither of you spoke for the rest of the movie. Or the rest of the night. You must have fallen asleep about half an hour in.
*
Wanda was one of the most intimate people you had ever met. It was mainly something she aimed towards you and Natasha but didn't refrain from comforting others and giving hugs to anyone who would take one. She never held back at all with you, as far as you knew. But when you woke up and couldn't tell where your limbs started and Wanda's ended, you were still surprised to find yourselves like that. Butterflies flew around in your stomach in a way you knew was dangerous but couldn't help but love.
You were resting your head on her rising chest and had your arm slung across her stomach. Your legs were tangled together and her arms were holding onto your waist. A warmth spread through you and you decided to settle back into her hold and closed your eyes with a content smile.
You had about ten minutes to enjoy that before Wanda woke up. You could feel the moment she realized you were so close, she physically froze. You waited in anticipation for something for several moments until your friend very slowly unhooked her legs and guided your body to lay against the mattress and pillows as she slipped out of bed towards the bathroom.
You sighed when you heard the door close and rubbed your eyes slowly, knowing you should get up but wishing more than anything that you could return to how you woke up.
"Morning." Wanda croaked when she left the bathroom and saw you sitting up in bed.
"Morning." You said back with a smile and tried not to focus on how ridiculously attractive her voice sounded.
You gathered some random clothes into a bundle and went into the bathroom to change again and brush your teeth. When you came out Wanda was pulling her shirt over her head and gave you a generous view of her toned stomach. That training with Natasha really was paying off. Your face heated up when you saw it and you turned away to pretend you hadn't seen when Wanda noticed you.
"Don't make a sound." Wanda warned. You glanced up at her with some confusion. "I don't think your family's awake yet, that means we get the kitchen to ourselves." She grinned and you did too.
You and Wanda had gotten so used to getting up early for your jobs you forgot other people would still be sleeping. It was hard to break out of the habit but it proved useful.
The pair of you made a quick breakfast and ate it outside thanks to the warm weather even at that time. But soon enough your parents came downstairs and ruined the peaceful atmosphere with the clanging of pots and loud convosations.
You wandered around the side of the house and saw the old table tennis table that bad been folded away years ago and hadn't been set up since. You went over and started setting it up when Wanda joined you and eyed the table with a glimmer of mischief.
The redhead wasn't all that competitive, in fact you were pretty sure she let other people win games on the regular to make them feel better about themselves. But there was an undeniable spark of mischief in her eyes when she saw the table.
"You played this before?" You asked convosationally.
"I have." She said as you both automatically took up your positions of opposite ends of the table.
"Me too." You said confidently. "A lot." Wanda hummed in acknowledgment and swivelled her bat in her hand and stood ready. You smiled at her seriousness for the game.
You served surprisingly well for someone who hadn't played in a few years and Wanda was able to hit it back with ease. Once you had developed a steady pace you started hitting the ball more daringly to Wanda who was caught off guard before she started doing the same.
The moment you missed the ball a small smile tugged at the corner of Wanda's lips, her celebration was short lived when you suddenly sent the ball back her way until it was too late.
"That wasn't fair!" She exclaimed childishly.
"That was tables tennis." You said seriously but started smiling again.
Wanda huffed dramatically and flipped you off as she trudged back to the table and served the ball with force. You managed to send it back but took a step away from the table in caution.
You continued like that for a while. The competition tension rising as you picked up the pace, one of you occasionally getting a point before the other evened it out.
At one point you were vaguely aware of Dalton sauntering over to see what you were doing and arched his brow at the sight of the table.
"We still have this thing?" He questioned and you hummed quietly in response, too focused on the game.
"Hey Claire! Get over here, we're playing table tennis." You rolled your eyes at the intrusive and could sense Wanda refraining from doing the same until an idea popped into your head.
You caught the ball in your hand and smiled at Wanda's protests as you moved round to her side of the table just as your sister came out.
"I didn't even know we still had this." Claire laughed as she picked up another bat from the box.
"Maybe we should take it back with us." Wanda whispered to you and you bit your lip to contain your smile because yes, yes you should.
Inevitably, your siblings sucked at table tennis. You had suspected as much you just never thought they would be as bad as they were. They missed almost every hit and everytime they did they got increasingly angry, which meant they ended up flaring their arms around like idiots. It was a memory you would be sure to treasure.
"Stupid game" and "probably broken" kept echoing across the table until your siblings finally stormed off to throw a tantrum.
The rest of the day went by quietly. You and Wanda sat by the lake for most of the afternoon to enjoy the sun and heat. You reveled in the most recent memories of your siblings embarrassment and had to keep hushing down to childish whispered whenever one of them was nearby.
Surprisingly, dinner went by peacefully too.
You weren't asked anymore questions at the table. Instead, your family were content with talking about their upcoming plans between stealing glances at you and Wanda that the redhead never failed to notice.
The pair of you slipped off to your room the first moment you got and easily fell into bed besides one another. Wanda picked out a DVD from her bag of an old Sokovian show she used to watch as a child and had you hooked on as well as teaching you the language.
She settled down beside you and within the first few scenes she wrapped an arm around your shoulder so you could sink into her further like she did sometimes when you watched things together. You were barely paying attention to the series after that.
Despite trying to keep your focus on understanding what was happening in scenes of the show, you couldn't help but want to melt under the warmth of your best friend. You hoped it was something you got to experience more, you felt safer than you ever had in Wanda's arms.
Little did you know that having you in her arms was the most comforting feeling Wanda ever experienced and she always tried to do it as little as possible to refrain from falling for you more. It never worked.
*
You had thought waking up in Wanda's arms the morning before had been the best thing to awake to. But that day when you woke up not only were your legs tangled together again but the redhead was slowly stroking your hair while your head rested on her chest.
It was a gradual gesture that maintained a perfect rhythm and made you want to fall back asleep. But you were afraid you would mistake it for a dream later on. No, it was definitely real.
Luckily, your head was already tilted upwards slightly so when you secretly opened your eyes to risk a peek at your friend you saw her staring out the window as though she was in a trance. She was clearly so deep in thought she hadn't noticed you wake up, you had never seen her like it. But the feeling was too good to ignore, too compelling.
Soon enough, you found yourself drifting off back to sleep.
*
When you woke up again Wanda was gone. Her absence left an emptiness you knew wasn't good for you. As the days of your visit went on your fake relationship with Wanda was going to effect you even more when it was over.
Over...you couldn't think about that.
Once you got up and got changed you found Wanda in the kitchen looking at the news on her phone as she sipped her coffee.
"Morning, honey." You grinned. Wanda blushed slightly into her coffee, something you thought was undeniably adorable.
"Morning yourself." She tried to play off smoothly making you grin more.
You made breakfast for you both just as your mum came into the kitchen and greeted you both with an overplayed smile, already talking to Wanda about an upcoming party that she should go to. Wanda mumbled something about a busy schedule as you managed to whisp her away outside with your food.
Eventually, you and Wanda became bored with sitting around in the house when you had such amazing surroundings on your doorstep. You declared that you were going on a walk with the redhead and left before any of your family could invite themselves to go with you. Especially as you had told your friend to wear her swimwear underneath her clothing as you had a surprise for her.
You made a point of holding Wanda's hand as you left and once you were far away from the house went to take it back only for her to hold on tighter.
"You never know where they could be lurking." She joked as an excuse, so you starting swinging your arms playfully as to assure her you wanted your hands to stay linked together too.
You spent hours in those woods and was thankful for having a spy best friend who of course knew to pack the essentials like food and drinks so you could stay away from the house as long as you wanted.
The redhead brought so much you were able to have a small picnic on top of a hill that overlooked the large lake that stretched out all the way back to the house. You remembered thinking up stories as to explain the strange shape and curves to it as a child.
"It's beautiful here." Wanda said as she picked some grapes from the bunch between you.
"It is." You agreed with a fond smile.
"I used to want to live in a place like this." She muttered, sparking your interest.
"In the woods?" You asked curiously and she nodded.
"I thought I could retire to the woods and get a small cabin and I could grow my own food and that was all I needed." You hummed with a smile as you studied Wanda's features.
"Sounds lonely." You thought aloud.
"I'd have a cat." She said simply making you laugh. "I never used to think that but now when it crosses my mind and I picture that life... I picture someone else there with me." You knew she was imagining it as she spoke and you wished you could see exactly what it was she wanted.
"We could always downgrade the holiday house." You half joked as you nodded in the vague direction of the house. "Make it a simple cabin."
"We?" Wanda asked hopefully, the emotion clear before she had a chance to conceal it.
"There's no one I'd rather run away and live in the forest with." You joked although there was a lot of truth to your words. The redhead considered you for a while before smiling and nodded as though she had reached her own internal conclusion.
"Come on." You said suddenly as you stood up and dusted yourself off.
"You want to go back?" Wanda asked and you grinned.
"I'm going to show you that surprise." You declared and packed the remaining food away. Wanda did the same, eager to see the surprise you kept secret the whole way.
It was quite a way back to the house. The whole time Wanda kept asking more questions about it but you wouldn't say. She could only make guesses based on the swim wear which should have left only a few options, non of which she got right.
Finally, you arrived where you wanted to and grinned at Wabda before starting towards the edge. The redhead frowned as she watched you approach the ledge and became worried when she invisioned the steep slope that didn't always lead to water straight down. If you were to fall... your friend didn't have to wait long to see that. You slipped along the edge and disappeared from her view as she gave a startled cry and sprinted towards the edge and knelt over with wide eyes, expecting to see something that could haunt her forever but instead she saw you on a wide ledge but seven feet below her.
To your left was part of the ledge that had been dug into randomly and acted as perfect aid to get back into the woods above.
"Come down here." You beckoned as you starter to take your top off. Wanda's eyes widened more and quickly turned around and dropped down next to you steadily.
She glanced over the side of the small ledge to glance at the fifty foot drop into the water. There was nothing in the way to fall onto but there was no telling how deep that water was.
"You can't go in like that." You laughed as you kicked off your shorts and pushed them to the side.
Wanda's face heated up at the sight of you in your y/f/c bikini as you assessed the view. But even in her flustered state she was able to put it all together.
"You want to jump down there?" She exclaimed making you laugh.
"I've done it tones of times." You assured. "It's fun."
"It's a death wish! What if the waters not deep enough?" She questioned making you laugh more.
"Are you scared, Wan?" You teased as you took a step towards her making her avert her eyes from your form. She scoffed to play it off.
"Of course not." You hummed in faux belief.
"Well then I'll see you down there." You grinned and took a couple of steps back until your feet were no longer on the platform and you were plummeting down towards the water where you landed with a splash.
Wanda held her breath as she waited for you to resurface for a few agonising seconds. When you did with a gasp and started kicking around frantically to keep yourself afloat with your built up adrenaline the redhead sighed in relief and started taking off her own shorts and shirt and placed them next to your things.
You've jumped from higher. She told herself as she rocked on her feet. And you have powers! She argued back before she shoved those thoughts aside and threw herself off the ledge and into the water below. You laughed as she came back up and pushed her hair away from her way. You swam closer to her and saw her wide smile.
"Fuck." Wanda whispered with a laugh as she looked back up from where you had both come.
"Told you it was fun." You teased as you tried not to focus on the low cut on her bikini bra.
"Yeah yeah." She laughed and paused when she looked past you and saw you were surprisingly close to the house. She could see the outline of your family sat outside.
"They're looking." Wanda muttered. You could tell by the look on her face who she was talking about. It wasn't like there was anyone else around either.
"Do you think they've caught on?" You asked nervously as you stared at Wanda's brown eyes to stop you looking at your family.
"Maybe..." She considered and glanced around. "It's not like we've been acting like that much of a couple." You scoffed at that.
"At home everyone assumes we're dating and the one time we need it be believable it isn't." You rolled your eyes but couldn't help the smile.
"I know." Wanda laughed for a second but then paused. "Then let's give them something believable." She gently placed both her hands on your waist and pulled you slowly towards her. You let her guide you and took extra notice of the water droplets across her face. You almost trembled when your bare stomachs pressed together in the water lightly.
Wanda's soft hands left your waist and gripped your thighs to pull you up to wrap your legs around her own waist. You couldn't help but giggle at the gesture as you wrapped your arms around the redhead's neck and held onto her waist with your legs in a lock.
"Can I?" Wanda whispered when she lifted your chin with her finger and her other hand came round the back of your neck.
"Just shut up and kiss me." You demanded with a playful smile and leaned in to do it yourself.
You smiled into the kiss and felt Wanda do the same. It was everything you had ever imagined it to be. Her lips were soft and fell into place perfectly against your own as they moved together. Your mind was hazey and your stomach was doing flips at the realisation that you were actually kissing your long time crush. You forced yourself to remember that it was all a show. That Wanda didn't mean it. But she put on a believable act and kissed passionately, even slipping her tongue through your parter lips to explore your mouth further.
When she eventually pulled away you rested your foreheads together to catch your breath and grinned as you closed your eyes.
"You're a really good kisser." You blurted out making Wanda chuckle.
"Not too bad yourself." She teased.
"I hope not, we're gonna have to do that again." You smiled and instantly realized that sounded like a confession you desperetly wished you could claim. "You know because...Once probably wasn't enough to make it entirely believable." You rambled and Wanda nodded somewhat stiffly and let your legs drop back down. You wanted to say something to her, anything but it was all stuck on the tip of your tongue.
Just as you opened your mouth to speak, a small murmurarion of starlings flew across the lake, some of them skimming the water then gaining height again as they got closer to you and Wanda. You both ducked instinctively as they flew over your heads and off towards the forest again as you watched them in awe until they disappeared. You glanced up at the sky and noticed the sun had gone behind a cloud, ableing you to continue looking up at the other birds higher up.
You kicked your legs up slightly so you could lay on your back and outstretch your arms to keep you afloat in the water so you could stare up at the sky without hurting your neck.
You didn't realise Wanda mimicked you until her hands brushed against yours. She withdrew it as soon as you touched and went to murmmer an apology but you smiled and held onto her hand as you both lay watching the birds.
Neither of you had to say anything. It was a comfortable and peaceful silence that was occasionally filled with birds chirping or the sound of a calm breeze. Of all the things you expected to feel on that trip, relaxed was not one of them.
You stayed like that for a while until you were both snapped out of your daydreams by the distant yell that declared dinner. Well, you had to go back to them eventually.
Both of you took your time swimming back to dry land and only felt a shiver when you left the water and the breeze hit you. Wanda spotted and reached the towels before you and wrapped yours around you tightly. You thanked her with a small blush as you both sauntered up to the house where the mouthwatering smell of a barbecue greeted you. Your dad was leaning over it while shooing your brother away as he tried to offer his 'help'.
You and Wanda went inside to change swiftly and came back outside as the food was being placed on plates and your mum finished setting up the buffet. Everyone starter helping themselves and you piled as much food as you could onto the plate. You parents had asked what food Wanda liked and when you gave them a brief list you added in a few things you knew you both loved.
"You gonna eat all that?" Anna asked as she eyed all the food on your plate. Guilt and insecurities washed over you until Wanda purposefully grabbed a large handful of small sausage rolls and put them on her plate that was piled with a considerable amount more food than your own. You smiled at the reassuring gesture as she sat down with a satisfied grin on her face when she saw Anna close her mouth to stay quiet.
"Thanks." You whispered to her as you sat down.
"If you don't eat all that I will." She declared. You were pretty sure she went back for seconds.
Instead of disappearing back to your room like you did the previous nights, you and Wanda stayed with your family for a while after dinner. It wasn't to do with their company, more the mesmerising fire in the firepit you all sat around. You were cuddled up into Wanda's side with a blanket over both of you as you stared at the flames, smiling at their small flickers and dances.
"So Wanda," one of your sisters began, "are any of the other Avengers...you know." She nodded her head in the direction of you both.
Oh boy you though.
"I don't think it's my place to say." Wanda said because yes, a lot of the Avengers were queer.
"Oh come on, you can tell us." Anna encouraged as she sat forward eagerly.
"I could, but I'm not going to." Wanda continued to defy.
"Lay off it guys." You mumbled but was ignored. Your family took it in turns saying her teammates names in hopes of sparking a reaction, clearly forgetting they were facing someone who had been trained by Natasha Romanoff.
"Stark!" Claire said but was instantly shut down by the others.
"He's married!" Dalton objected.
"Could still be bi though." Claire tried but Dalton just scoffed.
"I suppose there's going to be more surprises."
"What does that mean?" Wanda asked with narrowed eyes, feeling protective of her teammates. Dalton met her gaze with his own challenging one.
"I just never thought one of the Avengers would be a dyke." You felt Wanda stiffen as you all held your breath. There was no way to tell what was going through the redhead's mind, especially as after all those years of friendship you still didn't even know what team she batted for. She was an ally at least, but would she see this as her battle to fight?
Upon getting no reaction, Dalton continued. "It makes sense why you'd hang out with y/n though, we always knew something was wrong with her but-"
"That's enough." Your mum snapped with a guilty expression she failed to mask. You swallowed hard and moved to get up, deciding you had heard enough.
"Then you're idiots." Wanda stated as she glared daggers at your brother while you sunk down.
"I'll have you know I have a doctorate-"
"Your idiots." She repeated. "There's nothing wrong with y/n, which is impressive considering she's grown up around you lot." You looked at your friend in awe as she continued.
"She's the most amazing person I've ever known, including any of the Avengers. She's everything that you're not and I'm lucky to call her my girlfriend. It doesn't matter what any of you think of her, I love her and I always will." She declared as shot daggers at each individual family member who had fallen silent. She took your hand and pulled you up from your seat to take you inside.
You couldn't get her saying she loved you out of your head. You reminded yourself over and over again on the way to your room that it was just an act. That the redhead was making her point. But God, how you wished it was real.
She was so gentle with you as she guided you through the house. When you got to your room and broke down sobbing she held you on the bed for a long time until your cries turned to sniffles. The thing was, you weren't sure what you were crying over. Sure, what Dalton had said had hurt. As did the confirmation that your whole family had always looked down on you. But you had known that was the case for a long time, you had moved on from it.
Instead, you may have being crying over what you didn't know and didn't have. How much of what Wanda said was true? It was all based off of something that wasn't real. What if she saw you the same way your family did?
When you stopped crying you became aware of Wanda gently stroking your hair as she rested her head on yours and held you close to her. You remembered the memories you had accumulated over the past few days with her. The kisses, the hand holding, the nights together, how she stood up for you like no one ever had. You loved her so much.
"I think we should go tomorrow." Wanda mumbled and you nodded into her shoulder.
"I'm not going to leave you though, you know that right? You can stay at mine and we'll watch more of those crappy American movies you like." She mocked lightly making you chuckle against her. "Whatever you want."
"I just want you." You said honestly. You knew you shouldn't have said that, but you were too emotionally drained to care.
"I just want you too, y/n." You pulled away from the redhead to look at her clearly.
"I don't think you know what I mean." You sniffed and she smiled at you fondly.
"I mean what I said earlier, around the fire." Your eyes widened slightly and you held your breath.
"It was all an act though." You whispered and Wanda chuckled as she exhaled sharply.
"No y/n." "I think I am inlove with you." She said as she took ahold of your hand and searched your face for any signs of a reaction to her confession.
"Me?" You questioned, not quite believing it.
"Yes you, idiot." You smiled and sighed in relief, not being able to find the words to express your overflowing happiness and numerous other emotions you couldn't quite pinpoint. You let go of Wanda's hand and brought them both up to cup her cheeks. You had done a lot more handholding than kissing in the previous few days. It needed to be evened out.
You closed the gap between you and kissed Wanda with just as much passion as you had in the lake, except all hesitation and questions were gone. Because you knew she loved you. Oh God she loved you. You grinned into the kiss at the thought and felt her hand fall to your hip while the other caressed the side of your neck in the most gentle manner you had ever seen from her.
When you eventually pulled away you rested your forehead against hers, a smile still playing on both your lips.
"Told you we'd have to do that again." You said and and laughed. "I love you too."
"Well I hoped that wasn't a pity kiss." She joked and you smacked her arm playfully.
"It definetly was not and I'll prove it to you by taking you on a date when we get back." You promised as you sat back to look at her clearly.
"Oh yeah?" She asked with a playful smirk and leaned over so her face was inches away from yours.
"Yeah." You said back.
"Well until then, my real girlfriend should definetly just keep kissing me." She said as she pushed you down gently and kissed you again. You smiled against her gleefully.
"Your girlfriend would love to."

A Night At The Museum
Pairing: Loki x Reader

Summary: Your job as a museum tour guide was growing tiresome until a mysterious stranger showed up to claim what was his.
Warnings: Dubcon (slight mind control), Violence (mild), Light Bondage, Explicit Sex (oral, vaginal). 18+ only, no minors.
_____________________________________________________________
Your last tour of the day was about to start and all you could think about was getting off work and meeting up with your sister for drinks. You had always dreamed of one day working at the British Museum, but having been a tour guide there for the past year—doing the same thing, so many times a day, every single day—you found yourself growing tired of it and anxious to move on. Much as you loved art history (you did go to school for it, after all), you had grown thoroughly bored with your job. You wanted some excitement in your life. You needed it.
When you first started, you had been one of the museum’s most enthusiastic guides, always trying to engage all the members of your groups and fielding even the strangest of questions with grace and ease. These days, you were just going through the motions, especially for tours this late in the day. Over the course of the year, you had become adept at instantly identifying the one or two people in any given group who actually cared about the subject matter, and you found it simpler to focus on them and ignore everyone else.
As you performed your perfunctory scan of the last group of the day, you saw the usual suspects: a group of unruly children with intentionally oblivious parents; a travel group of obnoxious middle-aged Americans; an older gentleman, alone, who looked like he could be a professor of some sort (he was the one to pay attention to); and a young couple, clearly on one of their first few dates, who would have eyes only for each other.
And then you saw him.
You were immediately taken aback, struck by the fact that, for the first time in a long time, you couldn’t get a read on someone. The man was tall—really tall—with long, black hair slicked back. His skin was almost inhumanly pale and smooth, like he was sculpted of the same marble as the statues surrounding you. Despite the summer heat, the mysterious man wore a black suit and tie, a white dress shirt, and a long black coat with a scarf. He carried an ornately crafted cane, which seemed more an accessory than a walking aid. Compared to the rest of your tour group, he seemed a man out of time.
And then you saw his eyes—his impossibly green eyes. You could see them from across the room, almost glowing and staring at you, unblinking. your breath caught in your throat and all of a sudden you felt very, very cold.
As the hour-long tour progressed, you went through your practiced speeches about each artifact, moving across the room in the pre-established order and fielding questions here and there. As anticipated, the older gentleman was very engaged in the tour and asked intelligent questions, which you happily answered. Also unsurprisingly, one of the loudest Americans (probably trying to impress his friends) kept asking questions that he thought would make him sound smart and cultured but which, in reality, had the opposite effect. After one particularly ridiculous question, you had to turn your head away, pretending to be thinking about the answer but really trying not to laugh. That’s when you got caught in the emerald stare of the mysterious man with the cane.
He hadn’t taken his eyes off of you the entire tour—hadn’t so much as glanced at any of the art that he was ostensibly there to see—and up until then you had done your best to avoid meeting his gaze. Something about him absolutely terrified you, although you couldn’t pinpoint what exactly you were frightened of. He was standing completely still at the back of the group, but he was so tall that he towered over everyone and you could see his face as clear as if he were right in front of you.
His piercing eyes were locked onto you; they moved where you moved. His gaze was intense and menacing, but it was more than that: you could physically feel his eyes on you, penetrating you all over, making you feel naked. You wanted to look away but you felt like some strange power was holding your eyes onto to his. You stood dumbfounded and locked in a silent stare with the dark-haired stranger until the loud American spoke up, demanding an answer to his previous inquiry. You had never in your life been so happy to answer a stupid question.
You managed to make it through the rest of the tour without meeting eyes with the man with the cane, although there wasn’t one second that went by when you didn’t feel his presence in the room. You even went so far as to forgo asking if anyone had any final questions at the end that they wanted to stay after and discuss with you. You ducked out of the exhibit hall as fast as you could, feeling the man’s gaze boring into your backside as you exited the room, and headed for the staff room to gather your things. You didn’t notice until you got to the employee lounge that you had been holding your breath the whole time.
The museum was officially closed for the day, and as you left the staff area you couldn’t help but notice that the usual security guards posted around the building were nowhere to be found. In fact, there was no one around at all. The main lights were dimmed and the place was impossibly silent; the only sound you could hear was the echo of your own footsteps as you quickly made your way across the building to the exit. You were rounding a darkened corner when you felt an ice-cold hand reach around from behind and clamp over your mouth.
“Don’t be afraid,” hissed a smooth voice in the darkness. “You’re going to like what comes next.”
Before you could think to cry out, you were spun around and face to face with the dark-haired man. He wore the devil’s grin as he leaned down to you, his face barely an inch from your own. One hand still clamped firmly across your mouth, he brought his cane up with the other and traced a gentle line down from your temple to your chin. He let the tip rest under your jaw, pressing in on your throat just a little too hard. He put his lips to your ear and whispered, “Come with me, my pet.”
In one swift motion, he swung you up and over his shoulder and held you there with one arm, the other arm brandishing the cane, which clicked rhythmically against the marble floor, keeping time with his long strides. You were still dazed and breathless from the force of the cane’s tip on your throat and before you knew it, you found yourself in some dark recess of the museum basement, on the floor of a room you hadn’t even known existed. It was filled with strange artifacts the likes of which you had never seen in your extensive studies. There were no lights on but the room was bathed in an eerie shade of blue, which seemed to emanate from the relics themselves. You managed to mumble out a few words.
“Where am I?”
You saw the cane flip once in his hand as he strode toward you and then felt only searing pain as it came crashing across the side of your face.
“Did I say you could speak?” he asked.
You brought your hand to your cheek where he’d struck you, expecting to feel a bloodied gash, but when you took your hand away and looked there was nothing. The blow had left no physical mark, only an icy hot streak of pain. He reached down and traced the line of his blow with a long delicate finger, and suddenly the pain was gone and replaced with a pleasurable tingle.
“As you see, I can inflict both pain and pleasure,” he said, his voice like honey. “What happens next is entirely up to you.”
You should have been terrified, screaming, looking for some outlet or escape, but you found yourself completely paralyzed by his gaze. Going against every survival instinct screaming inside of you, you dared speak again.
“Please… please just tell me who you are and what you want.”
You closed your eyes and braced yourself for another blow but it did not come. You glanced up to see him looking at you inquisitively from the corner of the room, resting his long, lean frame on the tip of his cane.
“You are a bold one, I see. Deserving of my punishment, yes, but also worthy of the pleasure I can give you. I am going to ask you three questions and you are going to answer them honestly. If you lie, I will know, and you will suffer for it. Now tell me, do I frighten you?”
“Yes.”
“Do I excite you?”
“Yes.”
“Do you want to leave? And before you answer this last and most important question, know this: If you say yes, I will let you go. I will not harm you. I will not follow you. You will never see me again. But you will also never know who I am or what I am here for, the memory of this night will haunt your dreams forever, and no one will ever believe your story. Within a week, you will go mad wondering whether I was a dream or reality.”
In one seamless motion, he crossed the room and yanked you to your feet by your shoulders, holding you an inch from his face, which seemed to glow with its own light.
“Now answer the question. Do you want to leave?”
The final answer flew from your lips before you even knew what you were saying. “No,” you whispered, and he eased his harsh grip on your shoulders, a sly smile spreading across his lips.
You stared at him, motionless and feeling almost paralyzed as you waited for permission to speak.
“Well,” he began, “I suppose it’s only fair that I offer you the same courtesy you have allowed me, so you may ask me three questions and I will answer them honestly. Choose your words carefully, because you get only three.”
He released his grip on you and returned to the corner, watching you and waiting.
“Who… who are you?” you stammered.
“Ah, a good question and excellently phrased. Had you asked just my name, that is all you would have received. But who I am is much more complicated.”
He sauntered toward you and lifted his cane, pointing it in a sweeping circle around the room.
“You see these things here? I am not so different—I was just another stolen relic from another world, locked away until someone might have use of me. But I have broken free of my shackles, and I have come to claim what is mine. You as who I am? I am a God. I am your God.”
You should have thought him completely mad, but you believed him. For whatever reason, you believed him.
“What do you want?” you asked.
He shook his head and chuckled low. “That’s far too vague a question, my pet, for I want many things. I could tell you simply that I want a glass of water, and I would not be lying. But since you are such an exquisite creature and so well behaved, I will answer the question you meant to ask, which is what is my purpose here.”
Something was happening to you, something strange and terrifying and wonderful. You were mesmerized by the way he spoke and the way his long, cold fingers brushed your cheek when he had called you exquisite. You hung on his every word and could not take your eyes off of him.
“I am Loki of Asgard and I have come to reclaim what was stolen from me. This room holds all that I need to take my rightful place as your master and overlord—to claim humanity as my own and rule the people of Earth as your king.”
You searched your racing mind for the words needed to get the answer you so desperately wanted, but your brain would not cooperate.
“One last question, my pet. And don’t keep me waiting.”
Finally, the words come to you in the correct order. “Why have you chosen me?”
Loki smiled lasciviously down at you. “I could tell just by looking at you that you crave subjugation,” he said, his voice smooth and so deep you felt it everywhere. “You were made to be ruled, and you will be the first to kneel for me.”
In a flash he was on you, grabbing your hair hard and pulling you into a deep kiss. His lips felt ice cold but his breath was hot and moist as his tongue twined around yours. You raised your hands to run them through his hair when he abruptly pulled back and caught you by the wrists. He spun you around and bound your arms behind your back with his scarf, pushing you to your knees once he had secured you.
“I told you to kneel,” he growled.
He was behind you and you could hear his ragged breathing, the rustling of clothes, and the soft thump of fabric hitting the floor. When he spun you back around, he was completely naked and you drank in the sight of his pale skin and lean, powerful body. His cock was enormous and rock hard.
“Pleasure me, my pet. I know this is what you crave.”
He grabbed you by the hair and shoved the whole length of his shaft down your throat repeatedly, fucking your face until you almost passed out for lack of air. When you thought you could take no more, he yanked you off of him, tilting your head back and looking down at you with glowing green eyes.
“Very good, my pet. Now slower. Worship it as you will worship me.”
He grabbed the base of his cock, holding it at an angle above your face and willing you to lick it. You complied, running your tongue slowly from the base to the tip, feeling his blood throbbing in the veins that ran the length of his massive shaft; the blood was hot but the flesh was icy cold—a very strange sensation, but one that fascinated you. He let out a series of short, carnal grunts as you swirled the tip of your tongue around his head. You took just the tip into your mouth and began to massage it gently with your lips as he ran his hand lightly up and down his shaft. You could taste his leaking juices as you tongued the slit, and the taste of him was like nothing you’d ever experienced before—it was delicious, addictive even, and it made you insatiable and impossibly wet. You moaned onto his cock as you let it drip down your throat, sending vibrations of pleasure running through his entire godly frame and causing him to groan in ecstasy.
Before you knew it, you were on your feet and your wrists were freed from the scarf that bound them. Holding the scarf between gritted teeth, he ripped your blouse open and straight off your body. He cupped and squeezed your breasts in his icy hands, and your already hard nipples became almost unbearably erect against the lace fabric of your bra. He unclasped it and let it fall to the floor next to you as he yanked your skirt down around your ankles. One hand cradled the back of your neck and he let the other trace a line in between your breasts and down your stomach. When he reached the top of your thong, just above your mound, he stopped.
Your breath caught in your throat and you looked at him. He took the scarf from between his teeth.
“Turn around,” Loki commanded.
You did as you were told and he brought the scarf around your head, blindfolding you. You felt his strong arms lift you up and moments later you were bent over a cold metal table, facedown and arms over your head, gripping the steel. You felt his breath on your pebbled skin as he ripped your thong off your body with his teeth, and he pushed your legs wider apart with his knee as he traced down the length of your spine with two fingers. When he found your entrance, you were already soaked for him—an almost unnatural level of wetness that you’d never felt before in your entire life—and he plunged two long fingers deep inside you without ceremony. You cried out your pleasure as he moved them furiously in and out of you before he slowed and found your sweet spot with his middle finger, working it violently until he started to feel your walls tighten around him and your cries faded to jagged breaths. He stopped just before you found release and you whined loudly.
“You are ready,” he said—telling you not asking you. “Now we shall see where your loyalty lies.”
You were left wanting and stranded on the verge, and the absence of sight heightened all your other senses. Every inch of your body was buzzing and the sound of your own heart beating was deafening in the silent room. That’s when you heard the rhythmic clicking of the cane moving slowly toward you and then stop.
“Who is your God?” Loki asked, his voice cold and commanding.
“You,” you wailed. “You are my God.”
He brought the cane down across your bare ass with all the power of Asgard and you screamed out in delicious agony.
“I said, WHO IS YOUR GOD?”
You tried to answer but your mind could not form words. He brought the cane down on you again, three hard lashes in quick succession, and you made a noise that sounded inhuman in your own ears.
“I’ll ask you one more time: who is your God and your King?”
The sensations coursing through your body threatened to put you over the edge of consciousness, but somehow you managed to yell out to him through the haze of pain and pleasure.
“LOKI! Loki of Asgard is my God and my King!”
He laughed maniacally and you could hear the clatter of the cane dropping to the floor. You felt his magic fingers trace a line across the searing flesh of your ass and the white-hot agony turned instantly to a pleasure unlike any you had ever known. You almost achieved release just from his touch. He untied the blindfold and he rolled you over on your back, pulling you up to face him. His eyes seemed warmer as he leaned in and grazed your ear with his lips as he spoke.
“You have proven your loyalty to me, my pet. I know that you will worship me as I deserve. Now you will be rewarded.”
He stood between your legs and cupped your face in his hands as he kissed you slowly and deeply, more passionately than he had before. For the first time, when you went to touch him, he didn’t try to stop you. At last, your hands found his long black hair and you grabbed fistfuls of it as you pulled him down on top of you, the tip of his cock teasing your opening as you devoured each other. He pulled his face away and buried it in between your breasts as he massaged them, taking one nipple in his mouth and nibbling it lightly as he rubbed the other between two fingers. Every flick of his finger or tongue on your body dragged a sound out of you that you didn’t know you could make. You untangled one hand from his hair and found his massive cock, gripping it firmly and stroking it up and down as you rubbed it against your clit.
“Fuck me, my King. I beg you. Take me any way you want me.”
He lifted his mouth from your breast. “Not so fast, my pet. I must taste you first.”
He pulled you down to the edge of the table and threw your legs over his shoulders as he settled between your legs. He licked you slowly up and down a few times before latching onto your clit, holding your hips firm as he swirled the tip of his tongue around and around, faster and faster until you started to cry out and buck against him. He brought a hand down from your hip and teased your slick folds with one long finger as he continued to work your clit with his tongue and his lips. He brought another finger to your entrance, sliding the two fingers together from the top of your folds to the bottom, and when he plunged both fingers inside you, you came so hard you nearly fainted. His touch was godly, and you knew then he had ruined you for all mortal men.
You had barely recovered from your climax when he sat you up and took you all at once, shoving his cock inside you to the hilt, filling you with ice and fire. He grunted like an animal with each forceful thrust and you screamed with pleasure as you clawed at his back. Your hands found his muscular ass and you gripped it tightly as you screamed his name, keeping time with his rhythm.
“Loki… Loki… My God… My King...”
You brought your arms up around his neck as he lifted you off the table, his strong hands gripping your ass as he walked you over to the side of the room. You clung to him with your legs wrapped tightly around his waist and your arms at his neck as he fucked you senseless against the cold basement wall. The light of the otherworldly artifacts tinted his skin an inhuman shade of blue; it was beautiful, he was beautiful. He quickened his pace and then stopped, remaining motionless with the full length of him still throbbing inside of you.
“Such a good girl for me,” he whispered. “Such a good little pet. I think maybe I’ll keep you.”
He walked you back over to the table and laid himself down on it so that you were straddling him. You moved up and down on his cock slowly, almost teasingly, wanting to feel every inch of him inside of you. As you rocked up and down, he brought his cold thumb to your clit, circling it while you rode him and bringing you close to the edge again. He began to buck underneath you as you fucked him and you knew he was close, too. You leaned in and grabbed the hair at the back of his head as you continued to slam yourself onto on him.
The words fell from your lips—“Fill me with your God seed, my King, I want every last drop you have”—and even as you said them, you had no idea where they came from, almost as if they were planted there and forced from you.
That had Loki’s eyes rolling back in his head and he moaned deep as he sat up, grabbing your hips as you rocked back and forth on his lap. He tightened his grip on you and quickened his pace, pounding into you hard and fast. As the muscles of your tight walls rippled with pleasure and you cried out your reverence in his ear, Loki found his release. He held your squirming body tight against him, your muscles shaking uncontrollably as he came roaring into you. You felt his warmth spread inside of you—such a contrast to the chill of his flesh—and you stayed locked in his embrace, completely limp with exhaustion.
“Thank you, my King,” you whispered, and Loki brought his fingers to your face.
The last thing you remember is two cool fingertips pressed to your temple. When you awoke, you were naked and alone in the basement room. The artifacts that had filled the room were now gone and there was no sign of Loki but for a pile of clothing next to you on the table—new clothes to replace the ones he had destroyed in his lust—and a handwritten note that said only “Fit for a Queen.” You put them on, wondering if he would ever be back for you. You were nothing now without your king. You knew you were made to be ruled.

Series Masterlist
Warnings: Murder, serial killers, violence, manipulation, mentions of sex, drinking, smoking, blood, nightmares.
Word Count: 4300
Summary: Everyone needs a shelter.
For all your life, your sister had always said she hated watching horror movies with you because you would always criticize every character and their choices in the movie.
Who would even stay where they were when they knew there was danger outside, when they knew there was something coming for them?
You had never thought you’d learn the answer first hand;
Because there was nothing else to do, and because that was exactly what you were doing.
Spencer and the rest of his team had sent you away from that basement so that you could get some fresh air and at least attempt to get away from the greeting written on the wall with blood but you knew it was impossible.
There was no running away from that, you had seen it already.
You dangled your legs off the pier back and forth, keeping your gaze on the lake that looked so calm that it was almost like a painting. Funny, you hadn’t ever stopped to enjoy it when you were still a child, you had never actually sat there on the pier to take a breath, wrapped in the safety that would soon disappear.
The footsteps coming closer pulled you out of your thoughts and you turned you head as Spencer sat down next to you.
“Hey.”
“Hi,” you croaked out and he ran his fingers through his curls.
“Do you want me to take you home?”
You shook your head, “I’m not sure what home is for me at this point, to be honest with you,” you murmured, “Besides I heard the other agents talking, you guys are going to be pretty busy the moment the rest of your team gets here.”
He heaved a sigh, biting inside his cheek but you kept your gaze on the lake.
“It makes it official right?” you asked, “All these murders…It’s not really about my father’s legacy. It’s about me.”
He stole a look at you, “Y/N…”
“It’s okay professor,” you said, “Trust me, I’m not going to run and scream.”
“The profile is changing constantly with every piece of evidence-“
“Spencer.”
He let out a breath, pursing his lips.
“It is pointing that way so far,” he muttered, “It doesn’t matter though. His legacy or an obsession with you, we’re still going to catch him.”
A silence fell upon you and you cleared your throat, pointing at the woods on the other side of the lake.
“Mina and I used to play the princess and the monster over there,” you said, “I mean… It was either me who was the princess or Mina and I were saving some imaginary princess because Mina wanted to be friends with her.” You used air quotes, “I don’t know whose shock was more fake when she came out, mine or mom’s.”
He let out a small laugh, “Yeah?”
“Mm hm, and right over there,” you pointed at the right, “Linc chased me with a worm in his hand to scare me off, and I ended up falling into the damn lake.”
“Ouch.”
“Yeah,” you nodded, “Then Mina pushed him into the lake too and we all got grounded for the whole weekend.” You let out a breath and pointed back at the cabin with your thumb, “And right there, dad showed me how to kill someone for the first time.”
His head shot up, “What?”
You scoffed, “He didn’t tell you that during those sessions?”
Spencer shook his head, frowning.
“He taught me…” you wetted your lips, “How to- how to hunt, that’s what he called it. Predator and prey. After teaching me how to analyze places to find a weapon, he taught me how to find my way in the woods. Just in case. He used to um-“ you cleared your throat, “I don’t really remember all of it, I don’t know how much of it are nightmares or memories, but I remember once he dragged me here in the middle of the night, and he opened the door and there was this man…”
“Petal honey, don’t get so close to him,” your father called out from the kitchen he sharpened the knife as you took a step closer to the man who was gagged and bleeding profusely, still whimpering on the floor. Even in the dim light you could see the look of terror on his face and your heart skipped a beat as you turned your head to look at your father.
“Daddy, he-“ you shifted your weight from one foot to other, “Maybe we can just leave him like this. He’d be dead by the morning.”
“Where’s the fun in that?” he asked before getting closer to you, flipping the knife in his hand and the man started yelling through the gag, but it was muffled. Your father extended his hand, motioning at the huge teddy bear you were hugging closer to your chest and you bit on your lip, then handed him that.
“You can get the teddy back after you answer 3 questions right, you know the rules,” he told you, “Alright, if I wanted him to die quickly, where would I stab?”
“Jugular.”
“Where’s the jugular?”
You pointed at the man’s neck, “There.”
“Good. What if I wanted him to suffer for hours with just one stab wound?”
You paused and scrunched up your nose, forcing your mind for the information before you looked up at him.
“In the stomach,” you said, “Stomach acid hurts.”
He thought for a second, then handed you the teddy back.
“Good job honey,” he said and walked to the man with the knife in his hand.
“I couldn’t do anything,” you pressed your lips together, “For hours and hours he tortured him and when we got back home, I went to bed and the next morning I wouldn’t stop shivering, I kept throwing up and my mom thought I had the flu so we ended up not coming to the cabin that weekend. I know how he—” you clicked your tongue, “I know how he pretends to be a normal guy. During those interviews, that documentary, even in those sessions with you he keeps pretending like he’s normal, but I know him. I know the real monster and I…” you sniffled and cleared your throat, “Profiler or not, you have no idea what he’s capable of. He put me through actual hell, Spencer. No wonder I can’t remember half of this shit, I think I’d lose my mind if I did.”
“Y/N…”
“I didn’t stop him.”
He frowned, “How old were you?”
“Seven.”
“You couldn’t have stopped him even if you wanted to,” Spencer told you, “You were a child.”
“I could’ve told someone,” you murmured, looking at the lake, “I could’ve done something.”
“You were a child,” he repeated, “Children trust their parents, okay? You know it as well as I do that he’s a master at manipulation. Whatever he has done, it’s not your fault.”
“I doubt those bodies in the basement would agree with you,” you managed to say and let out a humorless chuckle, “Besides, I’m my father’s daughter, remember? You told me so yourself.”
The impact of your words would’ve been surprising if you weren’t so distracted by your own misery. He pulled back as if you had just slapped him, his hazel eyes searching your face and he swallowed thickly, opening and closing his mouth like he was at loss for words.
“I didn’t mean—” he paused, shaking his head “Y/N, that wasn’t the truth.”
You grabbed the cigarette out of your purse and lit it, dangling your legs back and forth over the pier.
“It’s fine,” you shrugged your shoulders, “You’re not the first person to think that, and weirdly enough, you’re not the first ex to think that either-“
“That’s not what I think,” he insisted, “Nothing about you even suggests that you’re anything like him, behavior or psychological wise. I just wanted to—“ he hesitated for a moment, his jaw clenching, “Hurt you back.”
You tried to smile, still keeping your gaze on the lake as you exhaled the smoke.
“Congratulations professor, you’re pretty good at that.”
A silence fell upon you both as you twirled the cigarette between your fingers.
“I’m sorry,” his voice was so gentle that you turned your head to look at him, “I really am. I never should’ve hit below the belt, not like that.”
“Don’t worry about it.”
“Y/N.”
“No really,” you insisted, “I don’t want to talk about that anymore, I’m just so—“ you closed your eyes for a moment “God, I’m just so tired Spencer. You have no idea how tired I am.”
“I know.”
“And it just doesn’t end,” you murmured and opened your eyes, “Right? I haven’t had a good night’s sleep in months now, and everything is getting so out of my control.”
“It will end soon.”
“But we don’t know that,” you insisted as almost a hysterical laugh escaped from your lips, “Do you want to hear the worst part? I don’t think this feeling will ever go away. At this point, I don’t even remember how it feels like not to be afraid.”
He heaved a sigh, then looked over his shoulder when Luke approached you two.
“Sorry guys,” he said, shifting his weight, “But um- Reid, we need you in there.”
“Can’t someone else-“
“Don’t,” you shook your head as you stood up and dusted off your jeans, “Seriously. Besides, the sooner you catch this guy, the sooner…I don’t know, the sooner things go back to normal, whatever that means.”
“You can’t just drive home like this.”
“I’ll drive her,” Luke said, making you turn your head,
“Dude, aren’t you needed here too?”
“I’m going to go back to help out Rossi,” he said, “Not all of the team has to be here, I mean-“ he nodded at Spencer, “We’ve got our genius here, he’s got it covered. I can take the babysitting duty.”
“No pastries for you anymore.”
“I would like to rephrase my statement,” he said quickly, making you smile before you shrugged your shoulders.
“Alright then, let’s go.”
“Y/N-“ Spencer started but you shot him a look.
“I’m fine,” you said, “Go do your Sherlock stuff, professor. Solve the case so that I can start planning weddings again instead of hanging around creepy cabins. I’m just gonna go home and get drunk, so you’ll probably get a voicemail or two from me, just saying.”
“Can’t wait,” Spencer smiled softly and you followed Luke to your car, then handed him the keys and got in the passenger seat. He started the car and you slipped a little in the seat, leaning your knees on the dash.
“How are you holding up?” Luke asked you and you heaved a sigh.
“I feel like I’m in a horror movie to be honest with you,” you muttered, “Who the fuck writes on a wall with blood, I mean like who are you, Michael Myers?”
“I didn’t mean the case,” he stole a look at you and you raised your brows.
“Ah, that,” you said, “Well, I don’t have a bff that sets me up with people in night clubs, so there’s that.”
He hissed in a breath, “Garcia told you.”
“Mm hm,” you looked out of the window, “No hard feelings, don’t worry. I dated lots of frat boys back when I was in college, so I’m very familiar with the bro code.”
“You dated frat boys?” he made a face and you shrugged your shoulders.
“Yeah I started from the bottom and worked my way up to the genius back there.”
He chuckled, “I take it you still haven’t told him you threatened a serial killer because he happened to threaten him?”
“I would’ve done the same for anyone.”
“Bullshit.”
Your jaw dropped, “I let you drive my car and this is the thanks I get, Alvez?”
“Okay trust fund baby, I’m driving you home, you’re not doing me a favor.”
You let out a small laugh, “Eh, I’m not that bad.”
“Your sister threatened a whole police department using lawyers.”
“They had it coming,” you said and he cleared his throat.
“If it makes you feel any better, it was an actual fiasco.”
Your head shot up and you turned to him, “Hm?”
“That whole thing with Reid. He’s not over you.”
“He will be,” you murmured, “Eventually.”
“Do you want to hear why it was a fiasco?”
“I’m pretty sure that’s an exaggeration-“
“He spent the whole night talking about you,” he cut you off and your jaw dropped, “Yeah. More like, she asked him about his job and he mentioned the case, then talked about you and how you couldn’t be the killer for hours. For a second, I thought he’d go up to the DJ booth and start broadcasting from there.”
You could feel the warmth spreading through you, but you nibbled on your lip, trying to ignore it.
“I really hurt him Luke.”
He stole a look at you from the corner of his eye.
“I know,” he said, “That’s pretty clear. I don’t know which one is worse, that you hurt him or that it doesn’t seem to change anything on his part.”
You could feel the burning in your eyes but you slipped a little in your seat and kept your eyes on the road.
“Yeah,” you murmured, “I don’t know which one is worse either.”
***
The worst thing about nightmares?
There was no escape from them, and no amount of booze could make them go away.
You woke up to your own scream and leaped out of the bed so fast that you got caught in your sheets and fell on your face, your ears ringing. You could feel the bile burning your throat, so you covered your mouth and rushed to the bathroom to throw up into the toilet, barely aware of the sobs rocking your body. You wiped at your mouth and stood up on shaky legs, then brushed your teeth, still breathing hard.
You were there again, in that graveyard with your father, but this time you couldn’t brush it off as just a nightmare.
It was way too detailed, way too familiar to be a nightmare.
You wiped at your forehead and washed your face with ice cold water, desperate for some sort of a relief and leaned over the sink, closing your eyes for a moment.
“Fuck this shit,” you rasped out to yourself before turning the tap off and raised your glances to look in the mirror.
Well.
You looked exactly like how you felt.
You still didn’t trust your legs but still managed to leave the bathroom, Making your way to your bedroom was more than enough to give you goosebumps, but you snatched your phone off the bedside table. You almost dropped it because of how badly you were trembling with fear, but managed to hold it tighter, found his name in the contacts and took the phone to your ear.
He answered immediately.
“Hello?”
“Spencer, hi,” you said, still taking deep breaths, “I um… I had this- this nightmare and I- I need to talk to you. Can we meet somewhere?”
He hesitated for a moment, “Are you okay? Why are you breathing so fast?”
“Not a panic attack,” you wiped at your nose, “Not yet anyway.”
“Okay, I’m still coming over-“
“No!” you cut him off, then licked your lips, “No I can’t…. I can’t stay here right now, I need to get out of here. Can we please meet somewhere or-or-“
“How about my place?” he asked and you heard the unmistakable clinking of keys, “You can’t drive like that, I’ll come and pick you up, wait there-“
“No I’ll just take a taxi.”
“Y/N.”
“I’ll take a taxi, just send me the location,” you told him and hung up, quickly got dressed, got into your coat, then went downstairs when your taxi arrived. You still felt like you could throw up again, but the cool air coming from the open car window helped as the driver started the car after you gave him the location.
There was a beauty in the city at night, especially in chilly nights like these. The small raindrops falling down your face offered some kind of a small comfort while you tried your hardest to ignore the images flashing through your mind, taking a deep breath, letting the cold air fill your lungs. You leaned your head to the open window, closing your eyes and letting the noise of the city drag you out of your own mind.
By the time the taxi pulled over, you were almost lost in your thoughts and only when the driver let you know that you were there you opened your eyes. You paid him, and looked up at the building before making your way inside.
It was almost strange how you hadn’t seen his apartment when you two were dating, but now here you were.
After the break up. At three in the morning.
You wiped at your nose and fixed your hair before you knocked on the door and tried to control your breathing, but that felt way too difficult. As soon as he opened the door, everything you had planned to tell him in your head disappeared and you looked up at him in complete silence for a couple of seconds, you had almost forgotten how he looked when he wasn’t in his work clothes. A warmth filled you, the urge to rush into his arms taking over you but you managed to fight the urge and stepped into the apartment, desperately searching for the right words.
“I had that nightmare, again.” You turned to him as soon as you entered the living room, stumbling over your words, “That graveyard nightmare, but Spencer I think it wasn’t just a dream, I think you were right and it was a memory and there was someone else but I can’t see a face and—“
“Y/N.”
“And I think we were there because of me because it all just connected, we were at that graveyard and he was actually digging a grave and I can remember the face of the victim but not—“
“Sweetheart, breathe.” he approached you in three long steps and his warm hands cupped your cheek so that he could look at you better, “I’m here, I’m listening, okay? Just breathe and tell me. Slowly.”
You swallowed thickly, looking up at him.
“I had that nightmare again,” you managed to say, “But I think that’s a memory.”
“Okay,” he nodded, “How?”
“Because at the graveyard, dad told me something,” you said, “He was- he was digging a grave, and he said, Remember, you’re not supposed to make them bleed if you can’t kill them. And I remembered when that happened, back at the cabin, during the training, I… I untied one of the victims and pretended like he got out of them somehow.”
His hand slipped a little so that he could brush his fingers over your neck, almost soothing you.
“It didn’t work,” you shook your head, “As soon as he got out of the cabin, dad hunted him down and dragged him back into the cabin, he had lost way too much blood to make a run for it. Spencer, that’s a memory, not just a nightmare.”
“There was another person with you? At the graveyard?”
“He took the victim to the graveyard later on, but yes. There was someone, I just…I can’t remember who,” you heaved a shaky breath, “You need to tell the team-“
“We’re already checking the graveyards within the driving distance to the cabin, I told them today.”
You blinked a couple of times, “Did you?”
“Yeah,” he said and his eyes searched your face, “You’re shaking.”
You tried to smile and wrapped your fingers around his wrist, running your thumb over his warm skin, “It’s cold out there.”
You were lying, he knew you were lying and you knew that he knew, but neither of you commented on that. He hesitated for a moment before he pulled you closer to him, letting you bury your face into his chest as he held you tight and you inhaled his scent, closing your eyes.
He was right earlier. This was an addiction.
“Were you sleeping?” you muttered into his chest before you pulled back to look up at him. He scoffed and shook his head.
“No,” he said, “I was working on the case.”
“You really need to sleep.”
“It’s ironic to hear that from you,” he pointed out and that made a smile warm your face.
“Ah but I did sleep,” you said, “I just woke up because of the nightmares. It still counts as sleep.”
“I doubt that,” he said and you turned your head before you started walking around the room.
Spencer’s apartment was more or less what you imagined, to be honest. Contrary to yours, it was darker and obviously older. The wooden desk was covered in papers and books, there was a library by the corner of the room almost stacked to the brim, and overall it reminded you so much of him that just being in his apartment made you feel-
Safer. Better. Calmer.
“Lovely place,” you commented as you approached the library to drag your fingertips over the cracked and old spines of the books and out of the corner of your eye, you saw him shift his weight.
“Yeah it’s not- it’s not like yours but I like it.”
“Not like mine?” you looked over your shoulder and he cleared his throat.
“Mm hm.”
“I like it better than mine,” you said and he frowned,
“Why?”
“It looks like someone is actually living here,” you motioned around and he tilted his head.
“Is that a good thing?”
“It is,” you said, “I mean I can see….you in here. I can’t see any part of me in my apartment.”
“Why not?”
“I don’t know,” you admitted, “My mom has this person who designs her houses, she designed my apartment too. It’s pretty but it’s just not me I guess. It’s kind of sad when you think about it.”
He hummed, his eyes watching your every move and you pulled a book from the shelf, holding it up so that he could see the title.
“You don’t strike me as a Petrarch guy,” you tilted your head, “Are you?”
He raised his brows and stole a look at the book in your hand.
“I do not pray, since there is no purpose, that my heart should ever burn less fiercely, but only that she might share part of the fire.” he recited and your jaw dropped before you pouted.
“I hate bluffing with you,” you commented, making him chuckle and you stifled a yawn while turning the book in your hands.
“You can’t work for the whole night if you have a guest.” you gestured at the wooden table and he shrugged his shoulders.
“I won’t if my guest promises she’ll try to sleep.”
“I don’t like this deal.”
“That’s the deal you’re getting,” he said and you clicked your tongue, then walked to the center of the room and sat down on the floor before you lied down.
“I have a bed, you know.”
“I don’t want to get comfortable and fall asleep yet. I want to enjoy this more.”
“Enjoy what? Lying on the floor?”
You shook your head and kept your gaze on the ceiling, the dim light of the apartment and lights from the outside creating shadows there.
“I don’t have that…mind numbing fear right now,” you managed to say “I want to make it last. It’ll come back when I wake up tomorrow, trust me.”
He looked like he wanted to argue with you, then heaved a sigh and sat down on the floor as well, leaning his back to the leather armchair. You tossed him the book and he caught it mid-air, shooting you a quizzical look.
“Read me your favorite,” you said and he smiled slightly.
“Seriously?”
“Yeah. I mean, it’ll help me get out of my head, and it might help you….ignore the fact that your night club date was terrible, apparently.”
He raised his brows, “Luke told you?”
You tried to stop your smirk, but it was impossible,
“Yeah he did,” you said and bit inside your cheek for a moment, “Thank you though.”
“For what?”
“For believing in me.”
His gaze on you was gentle, “I wish you would believe in yourself too,” he told you, “You’re not what he tried to turn you into.”
You dragged the tip of your tongue over your lip.
“Spencer?”
“Hm?”
“Do you think we should move on?”
He took a deep breath, his brows furrowed in thought.
“Yeah,” he murmured, “We probably should. But do I think we can move on? I don’t think so.”
You nodded slowly, that burning in your eyes getting even worse as he turned the pages until he found what he was looking for, then cleared his throat and started reading.
“I have offered you my heart a thousand times
O my sweet warrior, only to make peace
with your lovely eyes: but it does not please you
with your noble mind, to stoop so low.”
You smiled to yourself, painfully aware of why he picked that one, then closed your eyes, his voice washing over you.
“And if some other lady has hope of it,
she lives in powerless, deceiving hope:
and it can never be what it was to me,
since I too disdain what does not please you.”

𝐏𝐀𝐈𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆: peter maximoff x reader 𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐘: you can’t sleep and neither can peter, but at least you both know exactly how to comfort one another. 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐃 𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐓: 2.4k 𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐒: 18+, fluff, peter and reader are early to mid twenties, british reader 𝐀𝐔𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐑'𝐒 𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐄𝐒: y/n is known by the mutant name “scribe” and is charles xavier’s niece.
It’s eleven-thirty, and you can’t sleep.
Your thoughts shift to your lessons in the morning; to how tired you’re going to be; to that iced coffee you’d had while getting your assignment done after class; about how that drink was definitely a bad idea considering how you’re lying awake now. It had tasted good then, and it had given you the energy you needed to fire out five thousand words in the span of a few hours… but now you regret it.
Sighing, you roll over. Your eyes glaze over the objects on the nightstand beside your bed. Your alarm clock, rectangular in size and wooden in material, glares at you. Eleven thirty six. Eleven thirty seven. The time seems to spiral, and you realise that you might as well do something with yourself if you’re awake.
You eye the books stacked on top of the alarm clock; you’d been reading one before and it had bored you half to death, so you can’t bring yourself to pick up any again. What else? What else?
Your gaze settles upon the picture frame on the dresser next to your nightstand, and you let out a sigh as you settle upon the silver-haired speedster within it. You’re next to him, a mere blur since he’d sneakily taken the camera from your hand and taken a picture with an expression that radiates cheekiness, but you’d liked the picture enough to keep it.
You’ve got a few more picture frames scattered around your room—photos of you with Scott, Jean, Jubilee and Kurt. Even some of Charles. You might not be close, but he is your uncle, after all. He’s still family.
And yet it’s Peter you keep your eyes on. It’s Peter's mischievous aura which calls to you across the room.
What would he be doing right now? He’s probably playing video games or practicing on one of his guitars. You’d been surprised to see him play well; you’d been surprised to see that he actually had the attention span it takes to successfully learn an instrument. You would know: your mother used to nag you about practicing the piano to perfection. Practice makes perfect, she’d always said, and yet she’d always left out how much energy it took to practice in the first place.
Is it too late to reach out to him? The two of you have a specific way of speaking to one another across distances by now, although even the thought of doing such a thing due to the time seems rude. Your mother had always told you that it was your duty to be polite, and your father had by example. You think you picked it up from him rather than her, but—
Don’t think of him right now. Don’t think of what happened. Don’t.
As if in an effort to push the memory of that night from your head, you move. You pull the drawer attached to your nightstand open to reveal a mess of junk inside, but what you need—and what you spy—is a pen and paper. You pull it from the drawer and slam the nightstand drawer shut quietly, and after, you get to work writing:
Are you up? Can I come over?
Your fingers buzz with azure energy as you feel your mutation working in your favour. A tiny portal of blue opens before you, one you could make larger if you wished but one which you keep small for now. It’s no larger than a letterbox would be, and the faint sound of music from the other side tells you that Peter is very much awake.
You slip the note through the portal, and then you leave it open as you wait.
When you receive no response for a solid fifteen seconds but can hear movement on the other side, you wonder if this was a mistake after all. It’s too late, you scold yourself, mentally preparing for rejection. Oh, god, this is going to be awkward. What if he—
An empty Twinkie box falls at your feet.
You blink at it, momentarily confused, and then you pick it up. You glance about the dessert’s display as you begin to turn the box over in your hands. Nothing on the front, but on the back—
Scrawled in pink glitter pen—probably his sister’s—, the box reads on the back: Yeah. Come through.
You grin lazily as you set the box down on your bed and extend the portal with your fingers like you’re prying open a heavy door. The orange light from Peter’s basement slips through and becomes one with the light of your dorm, which is yellow and warm with your room’s wooden accented walls and flooring. And as you slip through the portal and your bare feet touch the soft tartan carpet of his room, you let the portal shut with a soft shum behind you—
But Peter Maximoff does not look his best. In fact, he looks downright miserable.
His eyes are red as if he’s been crying, his hair is messy—messier than usual, at least—and he’s wearing a band tee and some tartan pajama bottoms that look intended for comfort rather than style. You were about to say hey, but you stop in your tracks. You tilt your head as you look at him.
Peter is still. It’s strange, especially since he’s usually so eccentric. He blurts out, “What?”
You frown, momentarily stuck for what to say. “Nothing,” you respond, but it doesn’t seem right.
Peter stares at you. You stare at him. You’re both quite similar, so it strikes you then that you both know that you’re each not telling each other something.
“You okay?” You ask, suspicion clear in your tone.
Peter shrugs nonchalantly. It’s a rigid movement. “Yeah,” he says, far too confidently to be true. “Why wouldn’t I be?”
You narrow your eyes on him. His tone of voice has all but solidified your suspicions. “Okay, first of all,” you say, crossing the small space of the room between you and the sofa, “you use a very distinctive tone when you lie.” You settle down on the sofa as you cross your legs under you. “Second, your eyes are really red. Have you been—?”
“No.”
Crying, you were about to ask, but he cut you off. You narrow your eyes again.
Peter sighs and averts his gaze, running a hand through his hair. “Tonight’s just… not a good night.”
You press your lips together as sympathy wells in your eyes. “Why not?”
“Can’t sleep.”
“That makes two of us."
Peter inhales deeply, and before you know it, he’s sitting on the sofa next to you. You’re used to how fast he moves by now. Something warms your heart in the way he sits with his body angled towards you. Like he’s opening himself up to you.
“Wanna stay here tonight?” He asks.
You glance at the other end of the sofa and then back to him. You’re reminded of how he took the sofa to sleep on that night after you guys got caught in the rain. “Here?”
Peter’s brows rise. “Is my basement not fancy enough for you?”
You know he’s joking even despite the lack of humour in his tone, and you let out a small huff of laughter as you flash him a lazy smile. You sit back on the sofa, reaching out your hand to intertwine it with his. Things between you are still blooming after your first date, but you both feel comfortable enough to do this. Peter’s fingers wrap around yours as he starts drawing patterns on the back of your hand with his free one.
“I just mean,” you murmur, just loud enough to be heard over the backdrop of quiet music, “won’t your mom mind?”
“She didn’t mind when you stayed over last time.”
Your lips quirk upwards in gentle amusement. “That time you slept on the couch. This time I was thinking, I mean, if you want to, then maybe—”
“Oh,” Peter murmurs. His head lifts upwards in a sort of understanding motion. “Yeah, I mean… ah, I can deal with whatever safe sex talk she wants to give me in the morning.”
Your cheeks flush red. “I didn’t mean that. I just meant maybe we could…” Oh, god, embarrassment— “cuddle.”
Peter grins. “Cuddle, huh?” He pauses, until— “Okay,” he murmurs, reaching an arm around the back of the couch to wrap around you. “I guess I could be down for cuddling.”
You snicker softly as you lean into his touch, your head resting against his shoulder. “Do you want to tell me why you looked so upset when I arrived?”
Peter tenses. “It wasn’t because of you, if that’s what you were thinking.”
“Mm,” you murmur, “I think I’m confident enough in our relationship to know that your reaction when seeing me is generally excitement rather than the dread that accompanies sad under eyes and red markings around them.”
He pauses for a few seconds before he lets out a long breath of defeat. “That obvious, huh?”
“Mm,” you murmur, looking up at him. “A little.”
His lips twist to the side as he lowers his gaze. “I was thinking about my dad.”
It’s your turn to pause now, looking up at him in a way you didn’t before. You assess every detail of his body again: the way his shoulders slump, the way his head hangs low, the way his hair falls in the way of his view and his eyes are heavy with something you haven’t seen in him before. He’s usually so full of life.
Is this what he’s hiding deep down?
“Tell me about it,” you say softly.
Peter grimaces. “It’s a long story, and the stupid thing is it’s mostly my fault.”
Frowning, you sit up and face him. “I don’t believe that.”
Peter lets out a humourless laugh that might be bitter if he showed a hint of anger, but he doesn’t. “It’s true. The only time I’ve ever been too slow and it’s in finding the most…”
He trails off, pulling his arm away from around you so that they both now rest in his lap. He continues, “It’s a mess.”
“Start from the beginning."
So he explains, if not vaguely: about trying to find his father, about finding a house empty and police arriving on the scene. Peter had fled at the sight of them, and—
“His name’s Magneto,” he admits. “Erik Lehnsherr. You’ve probably… seen him on TV or something."
Suddenly, it all adds up. You weren’t at school to see what happened with Apocalypse, but you’ve heard about it from your friend group. Peter doesn’t talk about it very much, and now you know why; had he been part of that whole adventure because of his father? He hadn’t been involved with Xavier’s School before, that much you know.
You suck in a breath. Okay, Y/N, push the fact that his dad’s a known terrorist aside— “Does he know?”
Peter shakes his head. “Nah. I had the chance to tell him and I didn’t. I screwed it up. And now I’m right back where I was before all of it, because I have no clue where he is and no way of telling him the truth. I couldn’t even do it for Wanda.”
“Hey,” you murmur, your fingers moving to cup his cheeks. “Fight or flight, right? It’s normal. To see him right in front of you—to have to muster up the courage to tell him? Knowing what a change that would be for you? Peter, that’s normal.”
Peter’s eyes well with softness as he listens to you, gazes upon you, and you think you’ve never seen him look so vulnerable as he lowers his head to your shoulder. He takes in a shaky breath; wraps his arms around you; pulls you into his lap—
“Thanks,” he murmurs into your shirt. It’s not his shirt this time; you’re wearing a pyjama set that consists of blue silk shorts and a top. “Not sure I believe you, but thanks, Y/N.”
“Is there anything I can do to make you believe me?”
Peter takes a deep breath. “Aside from mind control? Not sure.”
You press your lips together and begin to stroke his hair. “To be honest,” you murmur, “I’m not sure I’d believe you if you tried to tell me something similar about my father, either.”
Peter lets out a choked laugh. “Maybe that’s why we work together.”
Your lips curve upwards, still stroking his hair. His face is still buried in your shoulder. “Maybe,” you whisper, pressing a soft kiss to his head.
Peter shifts so that he’s leaning against the back of the sofa and you’re in his lap again. You turn so that you’re straddling his waist, but your fingers find his jaw to cup the skin there. Your thumb brushes soothingly against his skin.
“You mean a lot to me,” Peter murmurs, staring up at you. It’s almost as if the music in the room has stopped; it’s almost as if the two of you are the only souls left in existence. His brows are slightly raised and there is awe in his voice as he says, “I don’t really believe you’re real half the time.”
You let out a soft laugh. “Definitely real, Peter. Definitely here.”
“Yeah,” he says, his tone riddled with amusement, “and here of all places. You could be anywhere. You’re like, perfect and—”
“Ssh,” you murmur, pressing a finger to his lips. “I don’t want to be anywhere but here with you.”
Peter tilts his head up towards you, a silent request for consent, and you kiss him in answer.
He wraps his arms around your waist as he deepens the kiss, your tongue slipping out to meet his own. He makes a low, guttural noise between pleasure and content at the feeling of it, and your free hand clutches at his shirt as your other hand remains at his jaw.
You spend the rest of the evening like that, whether it's on the sofa or in his bed, but in those moments together there’s nothing carnal about it. Your touches are soft and comforting rather than lustful and yearning, and as much as you’ve thought about him that way before, you know that now’s not the time.
Tonight, you both need this. Tonight, your sole purpose is to be there for one another.
“And for the record,” Peter murmurs between kisses, his words random and uncalculated, “I think your tragic backstory’s way worse than mine.”

JohnnySuh x reader.
Johnny Suh walked the hallways in his college ground and not one passerby gives him the freedom to do his business. Students give him a look of pity, as acquaintances try to give him fake words of comfort that disgustingly crawls at the back of his skin.
They were just into the gossip, but they never really care. It was obvious from how they whisper behind his back for looking out of place and out of character, he could see their mocking gazes every time he walks past them.
he pulled his hood up and covered his old blonde hair now dyed into jet black, the usual smile plastered on his lips was now in a tight line and was placed the usually friendly demeanor with a scowl on his face.
people are staring, not in a good way, but because he looks ridiculous in their minds.
"Youngho, if you need anything, I'd gladly do it for you." Johnny heard his Korean name roll of someone's lips and now he feels disgusted with himself for the 9th time that day, he was back to zero and the acid rushes past his throat and he might vomit with the anxiety building up in the pit of his stomach upon hearing his birth name. He halts his movements and turns around to face Kim Jennie.
How does she have the nerve to say that when she cheated on him with Jongin? He treated him like a brother. Her hands travel on his biceps, the usual warmth he felt in the past now buried at the back of his memories, and now, he's just disgusted with her. He ignored her and continued walking past her, Jennie's peers were instantly beside her to console her with words of comfort because her ex-lover practically brushes her off like she was nothing.
You didn't expect a drama unfolding in front of you while standing in your locker area, Christmas break was finally over, and now students are back putting their noses in other people's business. Especially, Johnny Suh's business.
You shrugged your shoulders and walks back to your class, this is definitely a way to start your first day at this University.
Johnny sat at the far back of the room, sporting unusual dark clothing rather than the usual light colors of his wardrobe, the professor walks in, shaking his head upon seeing him at the back completely not understanding how Johnny's mind works.
Johnny knows, just by the look his professor is giving at him, he knew and have seen that twice already — he couldn't control the urge to stand up harshly making the chair he was using falls down to the ground as he walks to the door not bothering to look back, stunning everybody in the room.
When Johnny came back to school after his attempt, he felt more pulled down in the darkest pit inside him, he was unhappy more than he did when he was attempting. The funny part? when people knew about his attempt, people started flocking around him as they cared, but it was obvious. They just wanted to be with him because of his surname and money.
Even Jennie did not differ from the other students trying to impress him. The sad part about it is that he genuinely liked her, but she was just up for it because of the money and fame, and maybe the good fuck. His friends were no different, people might think that he's happy being the captain of the football team, but his life was toxic with every moment. He was in more pain than ever, his friends who were his teammates low-key discarded him thinking he's a freak saying he needed to seek attention.
Johnny knew that they weren't practically saying that to his face, but they were showing it.
They weren't wrong, he knew that, but it was different. They were all trying to impress him, worshiping the ground he walks on and now he's on the rocky side of the road, they drop him? because their parents told them to?
Johnny empties his locker, blindly shoving everything in his duffle bag when his best friend, Kim Jongin, walks inside. He hardly shoved everything inside his bag and harshly closed his locker's door, scowling at the older boy.
"Look, I'm sorry, okay?" he heard him. "This isn't you at all, why are you suddenly changing? Johnny, I already said I'm sorry." that's the ugly fact. People around him are blind enough not to notice the slight changes in him and the little signs that he wasn't mentally stable.
"This isn't an apology. You're asking me to suck it up. It's Different."
Lunch came and Johnny has nowhere to go, not with all the pity looks the student body is giving him, he had a take-out for his meal and had his lunch alone in an empty room. deciding he has no appetite to eat something, he walked out of the building and drove out to Nakamoto Yuta's basement. He's supposed to be dead two weeks before this day, but here he was, seeking for Yuta's dirty business.
"Johnny Suh." Nakamoto Yuta was known for his dirty business around campus, selling overpriced illegal transactions under the table, tattoos, and piercing. "Stop talking like I'm some god. No god would try to kill himself."
"figures."
"I don't understand, how are you still in the university and not behind bars?" Johnny asks after taking a long drag on his blunt.
"This is the only way to have food on the table, and I need to graduate. I rather do these than sell my body."
Sadly enough when Johnny checked his phone, no calls or messages from his parents. As cliche as it sounds, he wants his father to check on him but after seeing him in his room bathed in his blood on the ground, his father drifted more away from him.
When he got home that night, his family was having dinner without him, his younger sister, Yerim, ran up to him and hugged him. "Oppa, where have you been? I've been calling you." his sister was the only purest being for him, and he distances himself around her, he doesn't want him to expose her to things that only he knew.
"Yerim, go to your room." the impersonal voice of their father surrounds the dining area and Yerim flinch. looking up to his eyes before walking away.
Kim Ji hoon walks up to him and looks at him with disdain. "Stop being a disgrace, If you can't act like your invisible. I don't need a disgrace in this house." It wasn't new to Johnny anymore.
His father may not be vocal about it in the past but he knew that his father doesn't want him to breathe the same air he does, if God may allow it, he knows that his father wanted him dead, he wanted his father to acknowledged him, and he did everything, that was when Johnny was kissing up to his reputation of being the good son, ace-ing all his grades, being the captain of the football team, doing unnecessary extracurricular activities for extra points, being the good boyfriend, good friend, good son, and a good brother, but it was all too much for him, he felt that he was borrowing someone's life to the point that he doesn't recognize him anymore.
His father hated him so much that he didn't even give him his last name, and the ugly part about it is that Johnny understood his father because he was the reason his mother died. "You can't even do one thing properly, and now everyone living in this town knows about you killing yourself."
"Are you saying that I didn't properly kill myself?" he wanted to vomit. He chuckled as he ran his hands down his locks. "Go fuck yourself," he murmured and walk down to the guest room where he was temporarily sleeping, his step-mother hasn't asked the helpers to clean his room's carpet that is still bathed in his blood, he looked at his wrist that is covered in a bandage, the ugly reminder that he was unhappy and that there is no saving from this anymore. Finding the reason to wake up was hard enough and going to school was another thing, but he did anyway.
People still gossip behind his back, ugly as it sounds, people are disgustingly twisted. He smirked upon hearing he still looked hot as fuck with black hair, one student saying she would gladly do him, blonde or black.
"Jennie must have cheated knowing that he's a freak."
"hey, he might hear you, lower your voice."
"He needs to seek professional help."
"I don't understand him at all. His popular, his ex-girlfriend was fucking hot, he's rich, has great looks, and has a hella hot of a sister." something snapped inside him when he heard some asshole talked disgustingly about his sister.
Before he could even think properly, Johnny repulsively pushed the guy up to the wall. "The hell!" the stranger shouted as the other students stop to stare.
"Did you fucking talked about my sister like that?"
People are staring not because of an aggressive man pushing a full-grown body against the wall like it's nothing. it's not uncommon to see a fistfight for the entire student body to see, people are staring because, Johnny Suh, for once stunned everybody with his demeanor that is completely out of his character. Yes, he is a big guy, but he was kind, sweet, and friendly, so Johnny using force for the first time against someone was a sight to see, added to the fact that this is the first time people heard him cursing, and If eyes could kill already, the guy who talked shit about his sister is practically dead right now, he would brush it off in the past, blindly ignoring gossip about him but this is the first time that someone disrespects his sister right in front of his face and definitely, it is the first time that he gave less fuck about his reputation.
Johnny stared at the man that lacks the urge to answer him, him sending shivers down the stranger's spine. He manhandled the guy and throw him down the floor. "You had the nerve to run that filthy mouth against my sister but doesn't have the balls to answer when I'm confronting you?" he smirked and walked away.
Johnny spent the whole week going to the university but doesn't bother attending his classes, he doesn't want to be left alone at home but doesn't want to go to his classes. He just lost every motivation to do something productive.
Johnny walked his usual path these past few days, going to an empty room on the 4th floor of the Marketing's building to kill time, he gently pushed open the door and saw you changing your clothes. You were almost done, putting your white dress shirt over your shoulder without noticing that you're giving a stranger a free show.
Johnny freezes up, staring and lingering more than usual. He was mesmerized by how your skin glistens under the light slipping through the windows, but what made him stop on his track is the lack of hair you have in your body. It's just smooth skin all over your body.
When you felt someone behind you, you turn your body around to look at the intruder, you saw someone and instantly locked eyes with him. At first, you were scared of seeing Suh Johnny behind you, Johnny got a full view of your unbuttoned shirt and your chest clad in your undergarments. it's not like you saw a ghost, he didn't die per se, but then it has drawn to you, that Johnny, in the flesh, saw you changing clothes. Your reflex acts up and you turn yourself away from him, pulling your clothes to hug yourself, you fix your buttons as you run out to get out of the embarrassment.
The next day, you went to your usual spot in the library to eat your lunch when you saw somebody sitting on your chair. You shrug your shoulders and sit across the stranger who had his head tucked in his arms on the table. You were excited to eat your favorite sandwich because your mother specially made it for you, it was a rare moment given your mother raised you and your sibling alone, having to work two jobs at a time just to put food on the table and to send you to a good school. You appreciate her and love her with all your heart, she was the only one you had next to your older brother, you were good at being invisible, it was your last semester at the university. Trying to finish one subject and your practicum silently like you didn't exist at all. You laughed at the fact that you had no one in this damn hell, but you didn't care.
You started eating your sandwich in silence while opening a good book to read, you were happy in your bubble. Johnny must have heard you as you flip pages after pages. His stomach growling after registering the wonderful smell coming from his surroundings. When he lifts his head, his eyes flicked to your form, silently eating while reading a book, you were so happy in your little bubble, giggling while reading. He straightens his back and you notice the guy across you, putting a face in the stranger who sleeps across you.
A blush crept up on your face when you realize it was Johnny again, you remembered the recent events that happened between the both of you, and your embarrassed ass started coughing hard, you hold your neck rather than reaching for the bottled water in front of you as you choke none stop in front of him. He was left dumbfounded for a couple of seconds but reach for the bottle and unclasp it before handing it to you, you chugged half the contents down your throat and he watched you with fascination.
"Thank you." You said in a small voice.
You put the bottle back in its place as silence hangs in the air, it wasn't a bad kind of silence, but it was awkward. You offer him the other half of your sandwich as you watch him look at you questioningly. "Your hungry." It wasn't a question. You knew he was hungry given you kept hearing his stomach growling a while ago. "You know a little food won't hurt you right?"
Johnny laughs at your ironic statement but accepts your offer anyway, "Don't get your hopes up, I'm not up for a casual relationship." he says as you thought that he wouldn't accept your offer, given that he's rich and can buy a much better lunch than what you're currently having, but then again, you shouldn't judge a book by its cover.
"I was just offering you food."
"Thanks." When he finished your sandwich rather quickly, he went back to sleeping in front of you. He liked hearing the sound of you flipping pages after pages as you read your book silently in front of him and the occasional giggle you let out when read something funny. When he woke up to go home, you were gone, but you left your coat as you hung it around his shoulders to keep him warm.
When he came back the day after, in the library, you didn't come back.
The next morning, Johnny awoke earlier than usual, heading to his car without giving a glance at his family, Yerim saw him and was rather puzzled at the baby pink coat he was holding delicately in his arms. He drove fast to get to the university, walking inside the library to wait for you if ever you were going to be there again.
Lunch came, and your guess was right, you see the same blacked haired boy taking a nap in your usual spot with your coat right beside him. You sat across him again and started minding your business, but this time, you had another bag of sandwiches repaired for him. You weren't ignorant about Johnny's attempt, but you choose to respect his space, you knew that he wasn't mentally stable yet. He might look fine outside and you might not know what goes inside his head, but you knew that he isn't fine. No one's mentally stable, everybody has their hardships in their private lives going on right now, but the important thing is that people shouldn't use it against someone, and as long as they don't step on other people to feel better for themselves then it's good.
You might not understand what he's going through right now, you weren't friends, to begin with, but you feel for him. Sincerely.
Johnny felt peaceful for once after many years, it was an odd feeling, but it wasn't bad. You were browsing your phone, checking your emails and your mother's, clearing and archiving unimportant ones. You look at the time and it was already half past lunchtime. Wednesday is a pain in the ass for you, you have to wait for 5 hours until your next class in the afternoon. You didn't notice Johnny waking from his nap, seeing as you still haven't touched the sandwich bags in front of you, he's guessing you still haven't eaten.
"I'm Johnny."
You look at the man in front of you, his usual strawberry locks are now turned into black, sporting a gray hoodie over his black shirt and matching gray track pants. You study his expression, his not extending his hands for a handshake nor his face valid of any emotion, yet you smile and said "What happened to not being in a casual relationship?"
Johnny was taken back, you give him the sweetest smile you could offer and handed him the extra sandwich you had, "You know, some people would reply with their names." he said as he accepts the food that you offered, you look at him as if contemplating before speaking.
"Y/n"
"I'm not sure, but what department are you from?" he asked after taking a bite of his food. "This is good, by the way. Who made this?"
"What question do you want me to answer first?" you asked laughing. "My mom made it, and I'm from the same department as you, Though, I just transferred to this school after the Holidays,
If he was shocked he didn't show it, Johnny nods his head as if acknowledging you, "I just want time to pass by quickly and silently, that's why no one knows I exist here. I'm just trying to live another day until I graduate." You said making Johnny fall silent.
"Good for you," he replied after a good minute with the both of you munching on your foods. "Was it hard?" he asked.
"What is?"
"You don't seem to have anyone, do you even have friends?" you laughed at his statement because it was the truth. "Yeah, something like that. It wasn't that bad I might have no friends because I choose not to have any relationships with anybody in here."
"That sucks, I'm not going to ask the reason why you transferred in the middle of the semester because that's your business, not mine," he says, you study his face and you weren't sure whether to run your mouth over his business or not, deciding against it you stood up and take your things with you. "Let me show you something."
Walking down the stairs while both of you kept a little distance, you lead him to the visual room, pulling the keys in your backpack and unlocking it. "Why do you have a key to the AVR?" he asks bewildered.
"Perks of being the teacher's pet," you replied as you pulled him inside, turning the computer and projector on, you played a video about constellations and aimed the projector above.
Stars hover above the two of you and you urge him to lay down beside you, looking up and taking a moment of peace to embrace both of you.
"When things get hard and I tend to be alone; let's be honest, no one wants to feel lonely, especially at the hardest times of our lives. But then, you can't force someone to be there with you physically and emotionally and it sucks to have yourself suck it up for being alone. So, I do this, I take my time staring at these constellations. You see, they're really beautiful to me. I find them fascinating, they have this beautiful meaning behind them, it was always fun finding their patterns, connecting them until they're complete, you just have to look closely, in that way, you'll appreciate them more." you smile while pointing above you, he might not look at you but your presence beside him does him wonders, it was so powerful that even if he closes his eyes, he still feels you beside him. The warmth he was feeling coming from you, your steady breathing, and your sweet scent.
You spent your Mondays and Wednesdays with Johnny, eating lunch together, or spending time as you watch different constellations every week.
Friday morning, you made a quick detour to your department before clocking in for your practicum, before leaving the premises a professor asked you for a favor and you agreed to make a copy of the files she was asking for. When you came back from the printing room, you saw a commotion ahead. It wasn't you to pry on other people's business, but your legs must have their mind when you saw a familiar tall build that is clad in a black hoodie.
Johnny Suh stands in the middle with Kim Jongin and Kim Jennie on the other side. He was hyperventilating.
"Just leave, please." Kim Jongin shouted at him, you can see the obvious horror written on everyone's faces. Kim Jennie was stuck beside Jongin as she shed tears silently, disbelief written in Johnny's face.
"Do you know what went wrong? it's because you were never enough." Jennie drops the bomb for everyone to hear, Johnny was livid. If he could crush everything that he could see he would take the chance and do it. If he could take his life again, he wouldn't give a single fuck and he'll gladly do it.
"I can't believe you both. I wasn't the one who cheated with my best friend, why the fuck do you act like it's my fault?" you heard Johnny said and for the first time your heart broke for him.
You found him in your usual spot in the library, his head hanging low and his body shaking as he tries to catch his breath. You drop your coat over his head and give him the bottle of water you were holding, instead of sitting across him, you sat next to him without overstepping and respecting his space to cool down.
When he started to calm down, he handed your coat back to you, stood up, and left the library. Saying you were dumbfounded was an understatement but you choose to understand him.
Days passed by and Johnny was still a no show. When a week has already passed without seeing Johnny, you started to get worried. You wished you asked for his number, but then again, you weren't even that close, to begin with. You decide to spend your long-vacant in the visual room, playing random constellations as you think about a certain boy.
When that certain boy suddenly appeared right in front of you. "I'm sorry." He had his hands inside his grey sweatpants.
"What matters is that you came."
Johnny joined you on the floor, staring up at the ceiling, after a moment of silence, he spoke up. "Why did you help me? why do you even care about me at all? I'm a mess."
"Aren't we friends?" You asked even though it was clear that he turned your offer of friendship down a while ago.
"What you said about the constellations earlier made me realize how I took myself for granted and at the same time how ungrateful I am."
You look at him and give him the chance to speak up. "I didn't have the will to live, do you know that you are annoyingly optimistic about everything?" He jokingly asked, and you laughed with him.
"Is that a compliment or what?"
"I still don't have a reason to be here." He suddenly says. Johnny looks at your face as if reading you, he was prepared to see you pitying him but there was none.
"You don't have to look for it. You have yourself because, at the end of the day, you only got your own back," you turn to him as you give him a look. Johnny envied you, it was obvious, and you can read him like an open book. "Don't, don't look at me like that, Johnny Suh." the way his name rolled down your tongue felt flawless, as if you were born to say his name out loud.
"We all have our shortcomings, I'm not perfect nor are people around me, no one is, and we have to accept that fact, give less care about people who can't accept that."
"It's not as easy as it seems," Johnny says, your hand brushing back the stray hair that falls on his forehead as if your hand has a mind of its own. "Sorry-"
"It's fine. I like it." Both of you turn towards the ceiling as you continue to watch the stars, keeping the comfortable silence and just hang around each other.
For weeks, spending time in the library and the visual room to watch the stars has been your thing with Johnny Suh, you couldn't even imagine being friends with the likes of him, you view him as a constellation star, he's mysterious behind his disguise as he tends to fool everyone with, he was hard to reach and was always up above you, he brightens the surroundings like how the stars brighten the night sky, for you, he was more than the famous campus boy that everybody likes, even if he can't realize that.
Weeks passed by and you look forward to your Mondays and Wednesdays than the fact that you are graduating.
You were busy transferring your books to your backpack as you stand in front of your locker when Johnny came to you. "I didn't know we have the same classes."
You were stunned when you saw him talking to you in the open, students started looking in your way as if seeing a history. The most known guy in the University is with a nobody, but you shrugged it anyway as you closed your locker's door. You bite back at your tongue with all the attention you were getting, anxiety creeping out to you but you choose to ignore it.
"You weren't even attending your classes," you told him as you fix your backpack, the both of you started walking, keeping the same slow pace and taking your time.
"Well, I now have a reason, at least," he says as he grabs the strap of your bag and slings it in his shoulder. You ignore the bubbly feeling inside you and continued walking. Smiling at yourself as you forget about the stares around you.
"You're so cheesy, Suh Johnny." You giggled at him and for the first time, you saw a genuine smile creeping on his face.
When Lunch came, both of you sat outside to enjoy the sunny weather. "I'm going to start my Practicum next week," Johnny told you suddenly, and you stood up so fast to walk around the table to hug him.
"I'm so glad!" the sincere happiness is written on your face that even Johnny laughs with you.
"Thanks to you, I feel like, there's more to it than ending my life at the age of 21," he says and you shake your head at him.
"No, I didn't do anything. It's mostly you. I'm just here beside you to guide you, but it's your own will."
"I'll be honest with you, hurting myself still runs on my head but the difference this time is, I'm scared to do it." you didn't know what to reply to that so you just extend your hands towards his and hold it firmly in your grasp.
The rest of your day went ahead without you noticing, time flies by rather quickly when you are with Johnny. You stood waiting for your bus to arrive when a black Audi stops in front of you. Its windows rolling down and you see Johnny peeking through the window to smile at you.
"You want to wait for your bus or be logical and save time?" you laugh at his way of asking you for a ride but walk towards the passenger to join him in his car otherwise. The car ride was rather chaotic, you were debating about what to put first, milk or cereal, and you felt the horrors when Johnny says he puts milk in first. He was laughing like a child at how horrified you look.
"Anything's fine with me. I put whatever in first," he says after a long minute of arguing.
"I'm telling you, not to live like that!" you argue back. "Cereal comes first and then milk goes in, just imagine, do you pour the soap first before the water? it's water before the soap!" you explained and he laughs at how rilled up you get.
The argument was cut off when you arrived at your house. Johnny parked his car in front of your house and for some reason, your mother came in wearing an apron over her clothes. She raises an eyebrow at the unknown car blocking her driveway and you look at Johnny who looks back at you.
"Your mother is intimidating." He says.
"Want to come over for dinner?" you ask, and It took him a second before responding, " You think that's a good idea?"
"Come on, Mr. Suh, grow some balls, it's just my mom." Johnny looks offended at your statement.
"I have balls that girls flock around with," he retorted. You sigh and open the passenger seat greeting your mom with a smile as you ran to hug her.
"Can my friend stay for dinner?" you asked after hugging her. Johnny is behind you as he introduced himself as your friend and your mother shocked him by giving him a warm hug.
"There's still room for another boy in my house, I believe, it's no problem." Your mother stated as Johnny gives you a confused glance. Your mother invited him in and you welcomed him.
Inside, your older brother, Taeil is strumming his guitar with three other guys in the living room. "Oh, This is my Brother, Taeil." you casually said at him as you hung both of your jackets.
"You didn't tell me you have a brother." He whispered at you, standing awkwardly beside you. Taeil waved at him and you push him to sit beside Jaehyun.
"This is Jaehyun, Doyoung, and Ten. They're all bandmates during high school so they're always here for my brother," you explained. "And your mother's cooking." Ten added.
"Well, now you know," You said as you turn to him. "Let me just go to my room and freshen up real quick, just make yourself feel at home," you say as you back up on your track. "Cool."
Johnny didn't feel out of place for some reason, he was really happy that he got to meet your brother and his bandmates, they were cool to be around. They entertained him and ask what were his hobbies are and for the first time, he took his time to think about what he likes to do. He likes to draw.
When dinner was served, all the boys helped your mother to set up the table, Johnny was persistent in helping even after telling him to sit and wait because he was a guest. You let him help otherwise.
Dinner was well spent, he enjoyed talking with everyone and your mother even asks him to visit anytime he wants. Taeil takes a liking to him, asking him to hang out whenever he's free. Johnny presented to do the dishes and you helped him when he was done his shirt was a total mess because of the water splashing through the faucet, a good thing is that your brother has some clothes that are way oversized for him, and he lets Johnny use them.
You handed him the shirt, accidentally seeing a huge bruise on his chest and stomach, before you knew it, you stop him as he was about to put his shirt on. "What happened?"
His bruises must have slipped his mind and he mentally cursed himself at it. You were horrified. "Johnny, are you getting beat up?"
"I don't want to talk about this," he pulled his shirt down "Y/n, It's getting late. I should head home now. Thank you for dinner, I enjoyed it." and before you know it, Suh Johnny was gone.
Weeks passed by and Johnny was a complete no show. Faint rays of the sun trickled down through your curtains and fell on your room's marbled floor, you look up at your window and were blinded by the light, sitting up, you let your feet hovered on your marbled floors and mentally prepare yourself for the day.
In the office, your instructor asked you to copy some files and you gladly agreed to do it as you don't have much going on for the time being. You thought that it was hard doing your practicum, but all you did at the office was run errands evolving the x-ray machine. Your mind drifted back to Johnny, you'll have to talk to him. Being worried about him is already killing you and the last time you saw him was three weeks ago.
Wednesday came and you sat at your usual spot in the library, studying for the upcoming exams as you patiently wait for the tall black-haired guy. You forced yourself to do some actual studying but for some reason, all you can think about was Suh Johnny who didn't even show up.
The week passed by in a blur and on Thursday you went to your University to take the exam, you were scheduled for the second batch, and instead of your usual schedule of Wednesday, your professor divided your class into two batches.
You weren't even aware that your exams already finished as you were walking to your locker to put away some books.
You understood that Johnny had issues and you hated that you can't do anything to help him. You would do anything for him if that means for the comfort inside him and his peace of mind. You might not know the reason for his depression but everyone has a reason and you know that everybody around you has some issues going on in their private lives. You look around, seeing other students do their thing, minding their own business, some are even bored and waiting for their exams, You saw Jennie and Jongin together looking at you with disgusted faces that you shrugged off.
Johnny saw you as you mindlessly walk your way to the visual room, and he followed behind you silently, as he looks over his ex-girlfriend and ex-best friend. He realized he never really had a connection with Jennie before, they were both just into the sex, and then it gets awkward when they started to talk.
You were already done setting the projector up, walking in the center to lay down when you heard someone entered, and when you saw Johnny at the entrance of the room, his hands on his sweatpants pocket as he gives you a look, you stood up and ran to give him a big hug. You shed tears for him, as you give him a tight hug.
"Why are you crying?" he asked.
"Aren't we friends?" You asked him as you hold him in your arms. "Friends share their pains. So, I'll be here. I just want you to know that I'll be here when you needed someone to be there with you." Johnny fought his tears but who was he kidding? He yearns for someone's affection and not because of who he was but because it was him. And this time, he finally had someone to share his pains with. People already viewed him as someone going on a phase, probably someone rebelling against his parents but Johnny was more than that. He didn't care about it, though. He learned to give less fuck about insignificant people around him.
"My father used to beat me up, Football was just an excuse to cover up these bruises." He admitted. He was disgusted and embarrassed about it. But it was you, and he knows that you're not one to judge someone based off on their appearances.
You shed more tears for him. "Johnny, You don't deserve that, no one deserves that," you say caressing his cheeks. You hated the cheesy statement but you ignore it anyway, what you were feeling at the moment isn't important. Johnny was opening up to you.
The two of you manage to have time off from the university and Practicum. (Johnny started his practicum last, last week, that's why he was MIA most of the time, that time.) Johnny was hanging out at your house, the problem was, your mother and brother are both at work, so you take it to yourself that being alone with him, at your house, is inappropriate. You drag him outside, leading the way to one of your favorite diners.
"I am telling you, you're going to regret that," you said.
"What's wrong with what I ordered?" Johnny did this little thing in his nose, and you take a moment to look at him as you smile at him. You ignore the stares around you, feeling like a sore thumb sticking and obviously, out of place. Johnny scowl at the man who was drunk out of his wits, shamelessly checking you out. This wasn't the first time, this always happened, but not to you though. You told him to ignore it, that man was probably in here to order a cup of coffee.
"Their chicken and waffles here are the best! I'm telling you, I'm not going to share with you."
One pout of his lips towards you and you were switching your plates towards Johnny. You told him, only because this was the first time that he got to try out your favorite dish, and there won't be a second chance in the future. Johnny was kind enough to share a piece of waffle with you. But not the chicken, though. He fell head over heels for it.
Bit by bit, Johnny's walls crumbled down around you, and before you knew it, both of you are inseparable. Johnny dating you spread like wildfire around campus, but there wasn't any truth behind that gossip, you were just a friend. Simple as that.
He was hanging more lately with your brother than you expected. Both of them have the same interest, so it wasn't a surprise when Johnny befriended most of your brother's friends.
Johnny was going on about how Jaehyun's a chill guy, Mark, and Donghyuck introducing him to play games, even Yuta, the University's drug dealer, as they brand him, was included in Taeil's group of friends.
"You didn't tell me that you knew Nakamoto Yuta," Johnny whispered behind you.
"Yeah, For some reason, I didn't want to get involved with most of them. Some girls are crazy about them and I just want peacefulness as I end my college years." You answered. Yuta was from the same department, Jaehyun was from the same university but was taking a different course, as well as Doyounga and Taeyong. Mark and Haechan still need a year before attending college. Ten was studying arts and your brother was a college dropout.
You were having pizza night at your house, your mother was kind enough to accommodate a bunch of men in her tiny house, seemingly impossible to fit 13 men inside, but it did. Instead of the usual party that frat houses and rich kids throw around, Taeil and the others like to keep it to themselves. Sharing one shot glass and downing a cheap rum as everybody waits for their turn. Most of them didn't think that Johnny would be fine with this kind of setup. Besides, he was branded as the campus king and a rich heir at that. He could spend Friday nights at some high-end bar and drink expensive alcohol. But no, instead, here he was, sitting on the cheap carpet your mother owns with a bunch of drunk men but you were glad that your brother is such a nice guy and so are his peers.
Johnny was glad, that he found true people, who accepts him for who he is and not because of who he was.
Doyoung placed you on the empty sofa, you have a low tolerance for alcohol, and you can't keep up with them anymore. The cheapest drink Taeyong bought isn't of cheap quality, you knew better than to judge a bottle chosen by him. You watch them with heavy eyelids, smiling at yourself, Mark and Donghyuck made fun of you by putting thick blankets around you and this was the first time Johnny saw you annoyed by the younger boys.
When Morning came, you were already on your bed as your head pounds. When you came downstairs to leave for school you look around and saw that last night's trace was gone as if 13 grown men didn't make a mess out of your mother's living room.
You wished you had gotten a coffee first when you entered your room way too early and saw that most of the students are yet to arrive, even water would be good, anything liquid down your throat would be good.
You saw Jaehyun and Johnny bidding farewells at the front of the room, students who were present to see the two interacting were shocked, for them, It was rare to see Johnny without his usual crew. But, who are they to decide that for Johnny? It was a rare sight to see, A popular music major and the famous ex-football captain, together?
When Johnny approached his spot beside you, he gives you the cold Iced latte he was holding fresh from Starbucks, completely ignoring unwanted stares behind his back.
"Good Morning," there was a warm aura surrounding him as he settled down beside you, and you look at him in awe. "What?" he asks.
You watched him for a moment, smiling at him as he looks at you questionably. "You're happy," you stated making Johnny pause for a second to think, he was sporting a baby pink hoodie and grey Nike pants, holding his Earpods and Macbook at the other hand. "I think I might be getting there."
Your heart swells up for him and as you fought back the tears that wanted to fall. Johnny reached out to you, wiping the strands of hair that keep falling on your face. "Sorry," you said. People might think that yesterday, Johnny was trying to end his life, and then suddenly, he was okay, because he never was, and you continuously walk on a thin thread around him, Johnny is like a ticking bomb and porcelain that needs to be handled with the utmost care. Five months ago, Johnny doesn't have the motivation to continue living his life, but here he was thriving to know what tomorrow can offer him.
For Johnny, meeting you was his saving grace, problems might fill up in his life, there is this constant reminder that society will always judge him the minute he does something wrong, there is his father, his stepmother who doesn't really pay attention to him, his old life and old self constantly reminding him the pain of the past.
"What happened to your eyes?" there were dark circles under his eyes and for a moment you thought that he has a lot in his mind to think about for the lack of sleep.
"I stayed up till dawn playing overwatch with Donghyuck and Mark last night." He says smiling.
"I'm glad your settling with the boys all right." Johnny watched you, how your long hair flow past your shoulders through your back, he loves the little freckles dancing all over your cheeks naturally and how a touch of pink creeps in your cheeks naturally because of the humid air.
You were really glad. "Do you want to go with me and Ten?" He asks you when your classes ended for the morning, both of you walked to the library to hide from prying and malicious eyes. "He wants to hang out in the nearest coffee shop." he continued and you agreed to go with him, making a turn for the exit.
Johnny ordered an Americano for him and a latte for you, eating the packed lunch your mother made for you and Johnny as you wait for Ten.
Ten arrived with Jaehyun in tow, placing their bags down Jaehyun took the seat beside you while Ten walked to the counter to order their drinks. Johnny looked at you and Jaehyun but ignore the malice running in his head.
"Kim Yerim!" the three of you looked at the entrance to see Johnny's sister entering the cafe, Yerim waved at someone across their table and saw his sister's friend Park Sooyoung waving frantically. Johnny turned to look at you and Jaehyun ignoring his sister who started walking inside, "What happened to you?" he asks Jaehyun,
"Why?"
"You're turning really red." Johnny pointed out and you snickered at Jaehyun who turns to look at Johnny's sister absentmindedly. "Man, That's my sister!" Johnny whispered-shout at him as he fought the urge to laugh at Jaehyun. Someone definitely has a crush on his little sister.
You and Johnny eyed each other, laughing as you both understood telepathically. "What's so funny?" Ten asks when he arrived and the both of you laughed loudly this time.
"Hyung!" Jaehyun shouted at him his ears turning red.
When Johnny got home, he locked himself up in his room that his step-mother finally asked to clean. He was busy waiting for Donghyuck and Mark to play when he heard a knock on his door.
"Can I come in?" His step-mother asked. Yerim's mother is a great person, but that doesn't really mean that she's a good mother to both him and Yerim, he can't really judge her though, she's still young and living her dreams but then his father got her pregnant with Yerim and then here she is stuck at this hell of a household, all three of them under the strings of his father.
"Yes." He says.
Kim Ah-Jong walked inside, placing a warm cup of milk beside him for the first time, "Johnny," She started as he settled at the edge of Johnny's bed facing him. Johnny turns his chair to face her too, holding the warm mug in his hand to seek comfort in this awkward setting.
"I don't know how to start, but I just wanted to say that I'm really sorry," she paused for a second, ignoring the lump in her throat, "I hope you forgive me for replacing your mother's position, and that I'm really grateful because you love your sister more than anything even though you didn't have the same mother."
"It's the least that I could do." He says.
"Yes, I know, and I'm sorry if I failed you as a mother, I was busy finding myself to the point you and Yerim grow up without the right amount of affection from us. We're such horrible parents and I wanted to say sorry on behalf of your father. You don't deserve this, no one else did."
That night, Johnny slept soundly in his own home for the first time in a while.
Yerim was shocked to see her mom attending to his brother, it's as if she suddenly had a change of heart and finally started to be a mother to his brother. Her father was another problem, he still hasn't moved on from his son's attempt. Spitting atrocious words early in the morning making Johnny regret even joining the breakfast.
Kim Ah-jong had enough of his husband's wrath, it was still morning and his husband is starting to get on her nerves. She stabs her bread knife on their table as she turns her head towards him, "Is still early in the morning for the love of God, Kim Ji Hoon. Must you really ruin our morning?" she says.
Both Yerim and Johnny were stunned at her, their father shutting up in instant at the fear her wife would stab her.
Johnny and Yerim drive to the University that day together, "Oh, do you mind if we stop by at my friend's house? I promise to pick him up." Johnny asks and Yerim nodded.
Johnny smirked, he was excited to see Jaehyun's reaction.
Johnny pulled up in front of Jaehyun's apartment, sending him a message the was up in front of his building, after a minute, Jaehyun emerges from the entrance of the building running to get to his car with a tumbler in his other hand.
Johnny pulled the window down and Jaehyun saw Yerim first, he stopped midway, flustered that a girl was with his young, and It was no other than his sister. he played it cool and sat at the back.
"Oh, Yerim-ah, this is Jaehyun. He's my friend."
Jaehyun didn't expect her to turn around and bow her head down. "Thank you so much for taking good care of my brother."
Johnny became flustered with Yerim but laughed it off instead. Jaehyun bowed his head towards her saying it was nothing. Yerim was unaware of the looks she was getting from the older boy sitting at the back seat of his brother's car as Johnny keeps throwing playful glances at the back while he drove them to the school.
Graduation was already nearing, both you and Johnny were already finished with your practicum, Johnny was moving boxes towards his car, for some reason, his father allowed him to have his own flat, his step-mother saying that it would be the best for him and his mental health to have some space between them and that they should give him some time and space. His father was adamant at first but has nothing to do in the end.
"Just let him do what he wants, He's already graduating, with honors! He already did everything you wanted it's the least you could do for him." he heard his step-mother argue a while ago with his father. Johnny still had to go home every Sunday at the main house, though.
You and Taeil volunteered to help him with his moving and he was glad, to say the least. Yerim contacted you to do his groceries for him and the two of you left the older boys as you went to the market with Yerim.
Yerim was a cool young woman, she was matured for her own age, you learned that she was very frank at what she wants and that she loves her brother so much.
"I'm really glad my brother meet you," she says as she links her right arms with you, you were both walking to the parking lot, and you smiled at her blushing.
"Honestly, I never really liked his old friends. Jongin? Nope. Chanyeol? He's an asshole. Everyone in that damn team is an ass except for Sehun," she says as both of you entered the market, pulling a big cart in the process, and continued walking ahead. "You and your brother are surrounded by good people. Do you know that? And I'm kind of jealous of you, not that I don't have good friends, I do."
"Well, consider me someone you can be with so those good people will surround you too," you said smiling, Yerim giggled at you.
It took Johnny a week before really settling down in his apartment, he invited the guys over to have a small welcoming party, drinking and playing till the sun rises.
Johnny was busy typing at his laptop as you were both doing your last requirement for college, papers, and documents were all scattered around his living room when he turns his head to look at you. "Are you comfortable with those jeans?" He asks.
You look at your pants, it is uncomfortable.
"I don't have extra clothes," Johnny poked at his cheeks with his tongue, he stood up and went inside his room, when he came back he was holding clean boxer shorts. "You can use this if you want," he says as he extends his arms to you. You gladly took it and went to his bathroom to change.
Johnny thinks this was more dangerous than when he had blood oozing out of his wrist, you had your toned legs on display for him, and only him. It wasn't helping at all. Without knowing, he stared at your legs for a good minute, the urge of having his hands run along the lines of your thighs was becoming unbearable. He was amazed by the lack of hair you had around your arms and legs, was it liked that too with the parts your clothes have covered? He can't help the wild imaginations running around his head with the things he wants to do to you.
Johnny focused his attention back on the screen of his laptop. What the fuck is he even thinking? It's you, his fucking angel. How dare he have dirty thoughts about you. He mentally slaps himself and went back to typing.
You noticed Johnny having a mental crisis because of you and you silently laugh at him, extending your legs further to have your skin touch his thighs.
after hours of being productive with your work, You and Johnny decided to call it a night.
After a week of preparations for the upcoming finals, you and Johnny decided to meet up, the waiter placed both of your orders in front of you and Johnny, who give the waiter a small smile while uttering a quick "Thank you." You eyed Jhonny's food who looks somewhat more delicious than your Pesto Pasta. You don't even know why you ordered it, you never even tasted it before, you just want to— maybe, impress the guy in front of your table who were giving you obvious looks about the taste pallet you had which is definitely of a 13 Years old.
Johnny gives you a look while shaking his head, knowing all too well that you wanted a bite of it. Looking at you who's eyeing his barbeque bacon burger with fries on the side— It's usually what the two of you order and he was shocked that you ordered something out of the ordinary. He knew that you weren't the type of girl to go out of your comfort zone. You like what you usually eat, what you usually drink, and what type of clothing you usually wear. You are a very simple, young woman. You don't usually try things out of the blue, especially, when the two of you are both hungry.
Instantly, Johnny switched both plates. Giving you his food whilst saying a silent goodbye to the famous BBQ burger that he craves so much after winning a football game, which, he deserves. "What are you doing?" you asked shocked. You already saw him digging in and wincing at the taste. "Why the fuck would you even order this thing?" he asked.
You looked at the guy at the other table. You both were giving silent glances, he's good-looking and obviously from another school but you don't do other schools, that is the thing, you'd rather date someone from the same school, same department or same village. You don't like the hassle. People can go ahead and say your such a basic bitch, which in fact, you are. You finally give your full attention to Johnny who looks at his back to find some guy obviously ogling your face. That was the scariest thing in the world for him, guys ogling your face rather than your body, honestly, it was obvious from guys falling for your body— they just want to get in your pants, but guys who fall for your beauty is different.
You start digging in with your food. "This is the reason why I love you so much." You stated giving your burger a bite.
"Why would you even want to eat this." He says. You give him a chuckle as you extend your right arm towards him, offering him a bite of your burger, which he gladly took. "I'm sorry, I'm such a pain in the ass." You said.
"I kidnapped you in your after party and I'm so sorry, I didn't know Jennie's going to be there, and now you're eating something you don't even like. Man, you don't deserve this." You continued. Sincerely saying sorry towards him— picking a fry and dipping it on the ketchup provided at the side of your plate.
For some reason, Things work out for him and the team, It was going to be his last year playing, and the higher-ups decided for him to lead the team again, making Jongin lose face around the campus. It wasn't like before, It was expected, Johnny was just professional around them, leading them at the court and out of sight, after.
"What? No way. This is what I deserve. A peaceful dinner and finally having time with you." He says after biting at the toasted bread the pasta has. It was true though, Johnny was talking with Jennie again, well, but not exactly dating her, as students would say around campus. They dated, but that was that, he can't even imagine being good friends with someone who cheated on him, he was just being civil with her, ending things with a good note and leaving the better past behind him, and you haven't really had the chance to hang out together since their coach intensified their training hours and days, and right after that Johnny would hang out with your brother and the other guys.
"What did my brother say, though? with you being with me tonight? You guys are basically dating each other by now," you joked.
"Yeah, he's cool with it. Don't worry, I told him about our meeting before you actually kidnapped me." He gives you a smirk and you give him a confused look. "I was actually going to ask you for a dinner with me after the game." You rolled your eyes at him.
"Wow." You commented. You were practically like a twin at this rate. "Can I ask you something, though?" Johnny didn't know whether to ask because he was curious or just wait for you to open up to him, for some reason, Johnny felt naked around you. You knew everything about him, you have him wrapped around your pretty little fingers "What if I don't want to?" You countered and he scoffed.
"What was the reason you transferred? you only had a year to finish before graduating," Your face fell and he instantly saw how your face contorted into a frown. "Why are you making that face?" he asked.
"I had a bad break up to the point that I was destroying myself." You finally said like it was nothing. Johnny stopped everything that he's doing, giving you a look as if asking why. He felt like an idiot. How can he? at your worst time? "I'm such a horrible friend." He says.
"It's not your fault, and I'm even sorry that I didn't tell you sooner." You said quietly. Suddenly your favorite dish from the dinner doesn't look appealing anymore. "And I wanted time for myself, you know, he cheated on me."
the clicking of utensils can be heard throughout the diner when he dropped them to the table. He was fuming mad.
"It wasn't anyone's fault, though. if anything. It was mine. I lost interest in our relationship, didn't have time for him, and just lost everything along the way." You said while moving your plate towards him which he gladly took, abandoning the pasta you ordered and eating the half of the burger you had. But the real reason was, you can't stop comparing your ex-boyfriend to him.
"Still isn't a reason to cheat on you." He says after taking a bite. You move your lemonade in front of you and lazily sip on it. He drops the topic knowing all too well that you don't want to talk about it. Still, he felt guilty for some reason, What could go wrong?
Right, Johnny Suh is starting to have feelings for you, and definitely not in a platonic way.
And you don't have any idea about it.
He opened your bag that was beside him and fetch the wet wipes that were inside. He opened it and out of habit cleaned your fingers with it. And you let him, smiling. "I wished I meet you sooner," He looked at you and smiled. "I'm really sorry I haven't been with you for the last 21 years." you joked as you let him dry your fingers with a dry napkin that the diner provides.
You were about to head out— fetching the car keys that you placed on the bowl beside the main door when you hear a familiar honk outside your house. Your hands slip past your keys and you walk the small distance to your door, opening it the cold air of December heats your face and Johnny greeted you with his usual beam on his face, his left hand stretched up outside his window, giving you a wave.
You smiled to yourself, biding your mom a quick goodbye and you were off to school with your best friend.
"Good Morning." He greeted you when you opened the door of his black Audi.
"Good Morning, indeed." You said facing him after securing yourself with the seat belt. There was a tint of pink in Johnny's checks that you choose to ignore.
Pulling up at the parking lot in front of the university's main building where a lot of students lingered chatting with their circle of friends— Johnny smoothly maneuvered and parked at his usual spot.
You both get out of his car and started to walk to the building.
"See you at lunch?" he asked when you neared your classroom— you were slightly shocked. "Won't you be eating with Yerim today?" you asked as you stopped in your tracks facing him. "Doesn't have to." He simply replied and you nod your head. "She'll be mad, John." You said as a matter of fact— facing him while slowly backing away as he marly give you a shrug. "She doesn't have the right, though." you rolled your eyes at him "Just ask her to eat with us!"
Graduation was nearing and you've been offered a job at one of the top companies in the city, you didn't have the reason to turn them down so you accept and were set to sign the contract right after having your diploma.
This calls for a celebration, though.
When Johnny heard that he was the first one to know about something significant in his life, he was delighted.
You found yourself getting tipsy with the cheap booze in front of you and Johnny. You were laughing at something he said about his sister, holding the cheap beer in your hand as you chug the contents down your through. "Okay, That's enough," Johnny said whilst grabbing the cans of beer and putting them back at his refrigerator. You pout back at him but don't argue, you still have to attend your classes tomorrow morning and you don't want to miss anything for the last weeks you have for being a college student.
Johnny tucked you in his bed and you bid the sweetest goodnight on him, he leaves a sweet kiss on your forehead before heading for the couch in the living room to sleep on, since he had no energy to actually drive you home.
You woke up that night, feeling rather hot, unconsciously stripping out of your pants and bra out of habit, you walked to the kitchen for some water.
Walking with blurred vision, you find your way into the kitchen. The lights were dim as you passed by the living room completely ignoring the fact that Johnny could definitely walk on you wearing only your white tee and undies.
You helped yourself around the kitchen, rummaging in the refrigerator for a jar of water, your hands felt the cold lid of the jar, popping it open and chugging the contents down. You giggled after realizing that you should probably use glass and act like a lady for once since you're not in your own place.
You hissed as you struggle, reaching for a glass in the cupboard. "Just why is it placed so fucking high?" you asked yourself. A hand reached for the glass and you turned around, shocked and ready to pounce the person behind you.
you came face to face with Johnny. His face, only inches away from you. His hands find their way to your waist as he looked at you and the glass in his hands, he purred his self some water in the glass and chugged the whole content down.
"I got thirsty," he said. You moved beside so you don't disturb him, stepping at least five steps away.
He looked you up and down, the smell of booze around, is strong, it almost made you gag. Feeling the cold air between your legs, you looked at yourself. "Fuck." realizing that you were only wearing your white t-shirt; that you probably owned since 7th grade— Your breast was obvious that even your nipples were prominent, your shirt just hanging before your hip bone and then your undies.
You mentally slap yourself. He put the glass down and you put your hair in front to at least cover your hardening nipples away from him. Chills run down your spine as he took another step forward, clearing the distance between you.
"Hey-" he cut you off.
"Johnny," he says.
"What?" you asked, barely whispering. Your eyes moved down on their own, from his eyes down to his upper body, he was shirtless, giving you free access to his perfectly sculpted body, his pelvis, so sharp even a God couldn't compare. Again, you felt the burning sensation coming back in your throat. You touched your neck instantly as you tried to swallow.
"My name, say it," he whispered, you looked up only to be met by his eyes, dark with unknown lust as if burning you within. He keeps staring at you, keeping you captive with his eyes that you somehow felt naked.
"Johnny," you whispered trying not to sound like your practically moaning his name. He took a step forward, leaving no space between you and him. "Again." He commands you. You sucked a deep breath as you avoid eye contact.
"Johnny."
He used his index finger to lift your head as his thumb drew circles just below your chin to the base of your neck. blood rushed to your face as you suddenly felt hot on your cheeks as he put his hands on your waist again. He tilts his head, the smell of alcohol mixed with his aftershave and mint filled your senses, suddenly it wasn't too dark anymore.
He brushes his lower lip against yours that you barely felt it. He licked his lower lip as you bite yours. He stares intently at you. "You know, I would appreciate it if you don't walk around the house in these." his hands hot on your skin.
all rationality seems to fly out of the window, both of you staring at each other gazes, Johnny pulling you in for a much deeper kiss. "Didn't know you were this naughty with alcohol in your system," he murmured, Johnny's soft languid kisses were driving you wild, he moves at the base of your neck and sucked at the soft skin before pressing light kisses.
"Do you have any idea how much I want you?" he says softly, your breath hitches without knowing and you deliciously clenched around nothing upon hearing his statement, you were hypnotized by his eyes. Leaning down, he kisses you again.
You put your hands around his chest to push him slightly, gazing up toward him, "I want this," you whispered. "No. Not in the morning when you're sober enough to regret this," Johnny says, you ignore him and pulled him down to kiss him again, and Johnny lost all his logic with how delicious you tasted, you guide his hands on the hem of your shirt and slowly he peels it off for you and lets it fall down the floor.
Johnny put his arms around you and hauls you against his body, squeezing you tightly, his hands traveled down your waist and down to your behind, he holds you against his hips, and you feel his erection, which he gladly pushes into you, easily lifting you from the floor after, you moan once more in his mouth, He eases you towards the bed and you feel your back against the soft cushion once more.
Tentatively, you move your hands up to his face and his hair, tugging at it lightly as if implying for him to take you fully. But Johnny has other plans in his mind. He grabs your hips with both his hands and runs his tongue around your navel, gently nipping his way to your hipbone and across your belly to the other. "Ah," You groan.
Seeing him on top of you, between your legs as you feel his hot breath against your skin, Is unexpected, but you wanted this as much as he wants it. Your hand on his hair, pulling gently as you try to quiet your loud breathing. He gazes up at you through impossibly long-lashed, and chocolate-colored eyes. His hand reaches the hem of your black underwear, leisurely pulling it down without taking his eyes off you, he stops and licks his lips, never breaking eye contact. Johnny leans forward, running his nose up the apex between your thighs, and you feel him.
"You smell so fucking good," he murmurs and closes his eyes. a look of pure pleasure on his face and you practically convulse.
You raise yourself on your elbows to see what he's doing, you were panting, you wanted him right there. shit
Moaning, you felt him run his tongue on the sleek of your heat, "Keep still," he murmurs and then leans down again to kiss down your clit. "How can I not move? you're making me feel this good." you felt him smirk against your skin. "Then, we'll have to work on keeping you still." there was a dangerous tone laced in his voice and you find it impossibly hot and twisted. You're flushed, skin burning, too hot, too cold, and you're craving more as you clawed at the sheets beneath you.
Johnny moves forward and you protested but the pleasure came back once more when he blows very gently on one of yours mound, his hands moving to the other breast, and his thumb slowly rolls the end of your nipple, elongating it. You moan, feeling the sweet sensation all the way to your groin.
"Johnny," you were wet, "Please," you beg silently as your fingers clasp the sheet tighter. His lips close around your nipple and he tugs, making you convulse. He doesn't stop.
Johnny moves his fingers around your clit, drawing circles as he laps on your mound, you let yourself go from his touch. His thumb and finger continue doing you deliciously and you fall apart on his hands.
"Oh," you won't lie, that felt extraordinary, and now, you know the fuss around him is about. He gazes down at you, a satisfied smirk on his face and you're still in owe from your high.
Johnny was amazed at how responsive you are, he laced his fingers around you, drawing slow and lazy circles around your clit again, bringing another set of heat in your core. He closes his eyes briefly, his breathing hitches. You're deliciously wet and Johnny doesn't want to fuck you with a condom on, and neither did you.
He reaches over the bedside table, anyway, grabbing a foil packet, and then moving out of the bed to discard the rest of his clothes. You saw him, and your mouth watered at how long and thick he is. He kneels on the bed and pulls the condom onto his length. "I really don't want to use one."
"Is that going to fit in?"
"Don't worry," He breathes, "You're wet enough, Angel. I know you can make me well," He murmurs as he positions the head of his erection at the entrance of your sex and pushing hard.
"Aargh!" You cry as you felt him sliding in, there was a weird sensation pinching deep inside you as he rips through you without warning. Johnny stills, his eyes bright with ecstatic triumph. His mouth opened slightly, his breathing harsh. He groans wanting to move.
"Fuck, baby, so tight."
"Johnny, Wait."
He stills for a moment, "Why?" You held onto his forearms, fucking him with a condom doesn't feel right, you wanted every little part of him, you wanted to feel him. Raw. "I- Can we remove the condom?" Johnny asks as if reading your mind.
You nod at him, You felt him slide out of you, removing the condom and throwing it at the trash bin beside his bed. Johnny positions his self once more, easing on to you, groaning. He loved every bit of it, this was the first time that you had sex without using protection, and the same thing goes for Johnny. Moving your hips up to him, as a sign that you wanted him to move already. He groans. You felt so full, as he let you acclimatize at the overwhelming feeling of him inside you. Naked, and Raw.
He eases back with exquisite slowness. Closing his eyes, Johnny controlled himself not on to fuck you hard, He thrust into you again, and you cry out in pleasure. He shifts into his elbow, and you feel his weight on you, holding you down. He moves painfully slow at first, easing himself in and out of you. You grew impatient and you can't help but move your hips up tentatively to meet his. He speeds up. Pounding on you, picking up speed by the second, merciless and in a relentless rhythm.
you can't help yourself to meet his thrust, making Johnny lose his mind because of you. Your body quivers. a sheen of sweat gathers over you. Your thoughts are scattered. There's only the feeling of him, of you, and him, and you stiffen.
"Come for me, baby," he whispers breathlessly, and you unravel at his words, exploding around him as you climax and shard into pieces with every being you had underneath him. And as he comes inside you, calling your name, thrusting hard, the stalling as he empties himself into you.
Johnny's breathing was ragged as you try to slow your breathing, your heart thumping hard and your thoughts in a disarray, you opened your eyes. His eyes flickered open and gaze down at you, dark but soft. He's still inside you, leaning down, he gently presses a kiss against your forehead then slowly pulls out of you.
Johnny cleaned you up and spoon you to sleep, he hoped that in the morning you won't regret what happened. Because he loved every moment of it.
