"this is the third time this month, selina." it should sound like admonishment coming from the bat. it should sound like many, many things, all of them infinitely less resigned (or — shockingly so — reservedly amused), but the flatness of his tone makes it hard to sound half as biting as one may believe it should have been. he doesn't bother looking away from the computer as he types away at it. "if you want a motorcycle, you could simply ask."

it is less of a boast of his riches and more of a joke, truly. the vigilante is well-aware the cat only does what she wants and much of it is done either for the thrill or for the skill attached to it—at times, both come as a package deal. getting her pastime gifted to her wouldn't mean she'd stop her antics. in fact, bruce suspects she'd just make a point to up the ante and while that's not quite harmful, he doesn't want to give her incentive.

she practically pitches the helmet off her fingertips, launches in bruce’s direction. he’ll catch it, she knows. he’ll grab it without batting an eyelash. her smile is tremendous, pooling across her face like a cat so cheshire she’s delighted. it bounces with all her movements. her eyes dance, sparkle, light up. she stretches her arms high above her head while she takes long, casual strides to the batcomputer.

“ oh, baby, i don’t want a motorcycle, i want your motorcycle. ”

she winks cheerfully and tosses her hair, fluffed recklessly by the wind’s whipping fingertips. her grin never dissipates. she perches herself to the side, peering up curiously at what he’s working on. she’s breathless, still thrumming with the adrenaline high that’s racing in her veins. bruce knows selina’s vices are surprisingly few, but this is one.

it’s the thrill; it’s the skill it takes to crack his coding. she has as much fun getting into his shit as she does using it. he can’t get one over on her, and if he ever wanted the cat not to get her claws on something he’d have to hide it in another country. she hasn’t worked her way up to the bat just yet, but she’s only biding her time to steal a whole fucking plane. she laughs, dazzled.

“ great. filled the tank, changed the oil. ”

she fishes into the pocket of her leather jacket, grabbing a piece of paper she tosses onto bruce’s desk. it’s half crumpled, a little sweaty, mostly crinkled and creases.

“ got your inspection done. i know a guy. — if i’m gonna take the bike, i’m gonna take care of the bike. treat her better. you handle your women like you handle that thing? no wonder you can’t get laid, brucie. ”

she blows a kiss in his direction and moves again, restless. she’s carried by long, long legs in a long, long stroll. she clicks a key on his keyboard just to click it. it clacks satisfyingly, but doesn’t bother the screen. she’s always touching everything. she stops to glance up at him, leaning on steel heels. speaks softly, nudging him with her foot the way one might a shoulder — selina uses her legs like most people do their hands.
