Harvesting Water lilies in Mộc Hoá, Long An, Mekong Delta, Vietnam: The water lily harvest takes place in the labyrinth of water and land of the Mekong Delta and is undoubtedly a moment to experience, one of the many wonders of Vietnam. “During flood season in the delta (June to November), women steer long-tail boats to harvest water lilies. Wading into waist-deep water, they rinse and bundle the plants for sale at markets and to restaurants,”

"Women collecting water lilies in the Mekong river delta - local people use it for food and as decorations for the temple, usually sold on the local market early in the morning. Scenes from our Vietnam photography workshop."

Washing Water lilies in Mộc Hoá, Long An, Mekong Delta, Vietnam: "Washing water lilies"- In the Mekong River Delta, women ride boats to pick up water lilies, then wash and sell them at the local market. Water lily planting has been a traditional work for women in the southern part of the country for generations. The edible flowers are also a delicacy.

Monday, September 18: Mekong Delta, "Without Honour"
Mekong Delta’s first album was as foundational in the development of prog/tech thrash as any of Voivod’s early records, and “Without Honour”, even with Ralf Hubert’s fat blower bass seemingly coming straight out of the Blacky playbook, was a crucial building block in the elevation of thrash as a subgenre.  Wolfgang Borgmann’s vocals were more pliable than usual for thrash and there was a certain thoughtfulness to the arrangement and performance that was certainly very unusual for thrash at the time.  At the same time the tune was still incredibly frantic and forceful, especially Jörg Michael’s (going under the pseudonym Gordon Perkins) drums.  Indeed, what really stood out was the dexterity and precision of the rhythm section’s attack, which turned what could’ve been another aimless thrash rant into something altogether more compelling.

Chợ nổi Cái Răng | Cai Rang Floating Market
Tumblr media
Started my day at 5:30 floating down the river

Can you see a little dog helping his "parent" sell rambutans?

Actually, Cai Rang Floating Market was not as crowded and lively as I've heard before, but I was still amazed with varieties of goods selling on boats. Sellers tied their goods to a tall pole so that buyers could see what they were selling from long distance.

củ đậu nào! (jicama!)

This was my favorite one! haha. They sold many kinds of fruits and vegetables! Cabbages, pumpkins, potatoes, onions, cassava, sweetpotatoes, etc.

Breakfast on a boat! (expensive but interesting)

This boat didn't sell pineapples, it was a coffee shop~
