Tfa Optimus Prime and Megatron?

TFA Optimus Prime and Megatron is a very mixed bag for me, on one hand. I’m a huge sucker for MegOp, always.

But on the other hand, the “age gap” is such a funny thing to me, you’ve got on one hand, a warlord who’s been playing a strategic game, taking leadership of an entire political party of Decepticons, who commands an entire legion of said Decepticons, and he’s essentially fighting your boss/military leader

And then there’s Optimus Prime who’s just gotten hot dropped out of the elite academy because he and his polycule fucked up, and now works in a small team of people who cooperates (optionally) semi-well and is struggling to play between being a good leader and good father figure of sorts.

Optimus Prime gives me the vibe of some guy in his early 30s BARELY still trying to get his life together

Meanwhile, there’s Megatron who’s just double the age in his 50s-60s watching Optimus be like this

Regardless, in fanon. I think it’s a pretty neat ship, in canon?

I’m gonna be fr with you, ever since I saw that season finale. I don’t think I’d really fall in love with the guy who costed me one of my very close teammates/friends to beat

Other than that?? I still like it outside of the ending and all. I still think about the scene where Megatron straight up ties Optimus with his own grappling hook and pulls him in. I felt like I shouldn’t have been watching that with the tension that was going on there. 😭

But yah! It’s 50/50 for me, also @/pastelpaperplanes art got me interested in the ship tbf

watched transformers: one and it was so good it made me draw again. Even my sibling who isn't into tf loved it. i need transformers: two IMMEDIATELY.

Future meet Past

THAT scene k i l l e d me. I was in pieces when megatron was born. Completely rocked my world. God I'm so happy to be alive to witness this movie and this breakup again and again in different continuities.

Edit: the “selfish and reckless” line is intended to be Optimus blaming himself for D-16’s drastic change - it’s how I imagine Optimus rationalising how things became so wrong. Sorry for the confusion!

After the final battle with Megatron, Optimus Prime wanted to go back to the miners' lounge and take one last look.

The first time D-16 (Megatron) met Optimus was when he was sent to the Kaon arenas.

The arenas were no place for kindness or gentleness, but Optimus always welcomed the frightened newcomers.

When he arrived, D-16 was a coward and no one knows to this day how he survived so long.
