This clown princess was only pulling an act to get free from her so-called parents and lover. She found out the truth about herself a week ago within LexCorps and heard it all...she was a missing child stolen from a family. Punchline suffered from many things cause she never kills and left innocents alone, but has murdered bad guys only when she deems them as threats to the world. She felt those harmful words and they played with her pain by hurting her rather than healing her. They pushed her around and pulled her down into the bottomless pit of bittersweet vengeance. "Breaking news, deranged beta criminal Andrew Merry has successfully escaped Arkham Asylum after Punchline blew up his cell and got tons of criminals out alive. Joker and Harley Quinn's legacy has begun her reign of terror all over again in Gotham City as her boyfriend does the same. If you see them out in public and anywhere else...run, I repeat run from them as far as possible." Punchline smiled with fake happiness as Andrew pulls her on his lap and smooches her lips with his own.

Andrew was once a beta named Lucas Nero Kaye, but another beta Harley changed him like Joker did to Punchline and gave him the special roller coaster ride to his fun-land. She was renamed as a beta named Alecia Delilah Napier and got branded by force. Ace Chemicals did all of its tricks of making her into their daughter and turning her mad like Alice Liddell.

Alice and Luka were toxic with each other. Punchline never loved him and cared for him, though Joker did care for Andy while Harley only loved her. Harleen Francis Quinzel and an alpha known as Jack Oswald White did favor Andrew rather than Punchline, it made her go fully black and white with splashes of red all over her body.

The gothic punchinello was protected by the female harlequin and the male jester was very close the neapolitan mime. Punchline vows to run away and never come back this life she's been breathing in as a hellish life. She has to wait and get rid of the tracker before she can make her escape to freedom and see broad daylight.

Punchline begins packing up her things and putting in a dark purple Lamborghini car she got from Joker for her assumed birthday. She waits till Andrew, Harley, and Joker leave for their annual heist at Gotham City Bank and gets inside her luxury car. The gothic punchinello slowly cranks up the fast car engine with one hand and begun leaving the hidden garage to the main exit.

The clown princess was lucky to remove the trackers and chips on her car, though the ones in her body were harder cause it was injected into her veins. Punchline drove from Arkham to some random city in baggy sweats to cover her scars and other evidence of abuse she went through as a little girl. The gothic punchinello kept driving and taking breaks by using all of the saved money she stole from a fellow beta Riddler's bank account thanks to Catwoman.

Every single day and night, she would drive from each city till she found herself in Robinson Park and was happy to find a place to hide from others. She manages to make some money with dancing and singing in subway stations to the public plaza till it went viral enough to become an internet star on social media sites. Punchline never showed her face, hasn't talked, and would always keep her looks to herself including her body...it was major insecurities.

The gothic punchinello suffered from the child neglect and domestic violence from her abusive lifestyle where she has no freedom to be herself. Punchline was safe from others and has to stay low for now on since Andrew will try multiple times to get his way with her for fun. She was suffering both inside and outside cause Joker can kill her in seconds if he finds out his porcelain doll got away from this playhouse...until one dreadful night at Jump City inside her apartment.

At Mount Justice, Batman somehow managed to locate where Punchline ran off and hide for a temporary amount of time. The Team watched the first day of her staying at Jump City by the cameras and saw the gothic punchinello looking paranoid about something. The seven sidekicks listened to what she said and understood why the clown princess ran away...to get out of an extremely toxic environment filled with crimes and scenes.

"She's the only key witness to finding out who's behind this plot with the Syndicate and why she became Punchline. Be careful Team, we know how she tends to be silent and deadly. Don't let her intimidate any one of you," the Team left the Secret Sanctuary and headed to Jump City where they found her car.

"Anything good in there?" Superboy opened the trunk and saw nothing but documents of a crime scene.

"It's just some papers," the clone replied as he raises the lid wider for the rest to see themselves.

Robin picks them up and reads each one by hand. It was from an unsolved mystery of a missing child back in the early 2000s, Bruce's godchild Evelina Gwendolyn Nelson was abducted by Harley Quinn and was personally "killed" by the Joker after he murdered her own parents in cold blood. The Boy Wonder see more files and other information in the trunk, such as DNA tests, birth certificates, ancestry trackers, hospital records, pharmacy visits, criminal history, and lie detectors.

"She has all of the files of Bruce Wayne's godchild including hers in there. Why does she have them?" Wonder Girl begun finding an extra key card and hands it to Robin.

"We're about to find out ourselves, come on guys." The Team followed the female demigod in the elevator and got in the private top floor.

Punchline was currently fast asleep with her scars and bruises from her last ambush a few days ago by the Joker, who notifies Andrew that his "girlfriend" dumped him and left the Laugh Pack for good by her death with a gunshot in her chest. The clown princess suddenly wakes up from her sleep when she hears a ding from the elevator and grabs two twin handguns along with a matching pair of daggers for safety precautions. Punchline hears several knocks and went into the bathroom by locking the door shut, leaning against it as she tries to find something for her joy in her backpack.

The Boy of Steel heard light shuffling behind the front door and knew Punchline was now fully awake. Kid Flash uses the key card and he went inside to see the whole apartment was surprisingly spotless from head to toe without traces of flaws on it. His six comrades can feel the tension as they went into different rooms and couldn't find her until they found her bedroom.

'Punchline's probably inside her room,' the archer said in the mind link, turning to Wonder Girl.

'Xena, you go open the door.' Kid Flash told the female demigod.

The leader of the Team gave his two teammates a raised eyebrow and he shakes his head no while his half-god girlfriend was unimpressed. Wonder Girl carefully opens the door and saw the room was shockingly clean, but a book was on the desk. The female demigod reaches for it and storms out of there with a neutral look on her face.

'Is that a journal?' Miss Martian asked her best friend.

'Yes, but I'm not reading it. We'll give this to Batman till further notice...unlike three of you who will more likely to read it.' The speedster, archer, and acrobat went silent while Aqualad, the female Martian, and Superboy nod their heads yes in agreement.

Punchline's heart was beating like crazy while tears came down her hollow cheeks and from her sunken eyes. She took her happy pills from her duffle bag and popped them into her mouth. The gothic punchinello was giggling quietly through tears of pain and faking her joy as she curls up in the bathtub, feeling the symptoms and effects it gave her.

Her stomach was scarred and burnt like other places on her bony frame. Punchline was diagnosed with major disorders and have health problems, but doesn't want immediate treatment due to trust issues. The clown princess has low self-esteem problems after Andrew tried to win her back at Arkham Asylum a few weeks ago and attempted to break her with the Joker watching both of them, but Catwoman saves the gothic punchinello long enough to let the young child escape from that horrifying nightmare to Jump City.

Catwoman was also the first person to see Punchline without her makeup and realize that her lover's godchild was actually alive. The cat burglar got what the gothic punchinello wanted in exchange of diamonds and pearls. The black cat burglar told the Dark Knight and he took a test between his childhood friends with Punchline's blood sample to confirm that Catwoman was right...the Joker broke Batman's godchild.

Punchline will always hug her stuffed animal she got from the Shadow Dame named "Koneko" which means "Kitten" in Japanese, it was sewn right and made with her love for animals. She doesn't like how people treats nature, the gothic punchinello has a soft spot for animals and flowers. As for food, she was born a natural vegetarian and doesn't like meat or anything that came from animals.

"Punchline, we know you locked yourself in there. Please come out of the bathroom," the gothic punchinello froze with shock and horror written on her face. "Don't make me hurt you honey, we know you're scared and in danger. Please sweetheart, we won't arrest you and treat you bad."

Punchline puts her things in her backpack and places her mask to cover her face from outsiders before pulling the hood over her head. Her dyed black locks of hair was peeking out and put her weapons in her bag. The clown princess gets up from the tub and carefully opens the door to see the Team.

The gothic punchinello looked a lot shorter and petite than usual. Miss Martian watched the younger girl put all of her weapons down and unload her pair of white platinum guns from their silver bullet ammo. Punchline shocked all of them by raising her hands and arms in surrender while going on her knees to let one of them arrest her.

Robin went behind the clown princess and puts a pair of handcuffs on her wrists before doing so to her ankles for safety precautions. The Boy Wonder gets her up and she flinches in response to the severe wound she made from a golden kitchen knife last night. Punchline stumbles trying to get her backpack up until she collapses and passes out cold from the pain in her stomach.

Wonder Girl saw it instantly and caught the child in time before she hits her head hard on the floor. She searches for a pulse, freezing to feel how faint and slow it was. Punchline kept the room cold as ice, hard as stone, and clean as slate contrast to her motionless body that was damaged.

"We need Punchline to med bay quick, she's barely responding." The female demigod carries Punchline bridal style, cringing when she held her and can tell she was sickeningly light as a feather.

The Team ran off to the Bio-Ship and flew back to their base with a dying child in their custody. Once the ship landed, Wonder Girl took Punchline in her arms and rushed to med bay with a panicked look on her face. Black Canary saw that the female demigod was on high alert and helped her keep the gothic punchinello breathing while the rest of the Team waited for their teammate to fix Punchline.

After a two hours of tests and exams, Wonder Girl was trying not to cry and rage when she saw everything that a child shouldn't experience for the first time. Punchline was the reason why heroes and innocents were still alive with their families, but this was personal...that journal was the last resort. The Sonic Screamer kept a sharp eye on the child as she breathe through her oxygen mask and rest peacefully.

Black Canary found the results and was terrified. Cracked ribs, dark circles around her eyes, bite marks on shoulders, pale skin, appetite loss, wounds on ankles, busted lips, broken nose, a minor concussion, burns on hands and feet, handprints on neck, lacerations on the back and chest, cuts on wrists and thighs, slashes on stomach and neck, and many more. This girl literally went through hell and back at a very young age.

"Canary, I told the Team already what's wrong and the signs that Punchline was constantly abused. We have to keep her under immediate watch and make sure she doesn't hurt herself. This was in her pockets," the female demigod explained before pulling the pill bottles.

'Happy pills, one pill a day makes the pain go away.' Black Canary thought.

"Not only that, Batman looked through her bags and saw a lot of disturbing things in it. Those files Robin attained from her car are real, the boys found more stuff and I told them to hand them over to y'all till further notice." Wonder Girl stated while checking on the IV fluids and blood transfusion she has from Catwoman. "She's selectively mute too, so we have to make her talk willingly...not by force. Punchline went through enough and was beaten every 24/7 for her right doings. She's not safe from the Joker, Harley, or Andrew, this little girl has to stay and be put under our custody."

Catwoman storms into med bay and sees Punchline being treated with care by the Amazonian demigoddess. The Core Four looked at the files and the blood sample they got from her a few months ago. This girl was a missing child and it matched with the blood of Bruce's honorary niece.

Robin saw his adopted father's girlfriend and knew that look. The black cat was worried for the clown princess and see the symptoms playing its roles into Punchline's health problems. The Team stayed by med bay and took turns of watching over her, only to see her sleep for hours.

A day later at med bay, Punchline wakes up and saw herself in a different room. She begins panicking that caused her heart rate to skyrocket and alert the Team. Wonder Girl got a painkiller ready for the gothic punchinello, who's having an anxiety attack and tearing up in pain.

"Shhh, shhh, shhh, it's okay sweetie, we're not gonna hurt you. Deep breaths...in and out." Punchline copied her and slowly calmed down before falling asleep. "There you go, that's a good girl."

The female demigod sighs in relief as Punchline slept and snore softly. Without the mask and hoodie, she looks like a fragile porcelain doll made from spun glass and fine china. The clown princess didn't hear the Team walking, who knew that they have to stay careful and not trigger her into going to panic mode.

'Is she okay?' Superboy asked her.

'No. This will take more than a few years to get Punchline recovered and sobered from abuse. We can't set off anything that'll make her have flashbacks and cause her discomfort. For now, we have to let the League decide what they have to do with Punchline. Let's pray that she doesn't go to prison, because this child's mind is too frail and broken apart from everything.' The Boy of Steel pats her shoulder while Wonder Girl writes down some healthy diet recommendations and tips.

"Bellatrix, she trusts you and Catwoman more than others. Here's my Golden Lasso of Truth," the Defender of Justice said, handling her rope to her daughter.

"Isn't this lasso way too far Mum? I get that all of us want answers, but this is a child who went through a living and breathing hell with two psychos as her "parents"." The Team nodded in agreement and stood beside the female demigod. "What's wrong with you and the League's minds? Are y'all really doing this to her, especially when I got what kinds of problems wrote down...please don't tell me the journal has all the proof in it."

Wonder Woman nodded with a saddened look and Wonder Girl turns livid. She begins calming down when she looks at Punchline's resting body and understood what her mother wants her to do, but she has a similar way. The teenage demigoddess carefully pulls the wires and cords, though kept a few on her for signs of conflict.

It took ten minutes to let Miss Martian link the older girl up and let their boyfriends hold them close. Kid Flash and Arrowette (Artemis Crock) were sitting side by side while Robin got another painkiller prepared for Punchline if she starts feeling any types of pain. The clown princess hums softly and opens her dull eyes to see the Team, who stares down at her bedridden form for answers.

"Alright Punchline, you got two choices to make. You can either tell us the truth or I'll have to let this golden magic rope do its work. Simple as that sweetheart, I'm not threatening to hurt you or make you feel scared. You're still a child that needs help and we can help you if you tell us." Punchline was hesitant and shivers as she tries to back away, but sees handcuffs on her bandaged wrists and ankles.

"Long story, the League found a lot of things and took your stuff out of your home from Manhattan. That's why you're stuck handcuffed and bedridden till we get the truth. All you have to do is talk and let us hear." Punchline said nothing and kept a horrified look on her face.

'She's not talking,' the female archer said to the teenage demigoddess.

'I'm not using this damn lasso to force an abused child into speaking Artemis, I refuse to let Batman interrogate her if it comes down to that option.' Wonder Girl responded to the blond-haired teenage girl.

"Or we'll get Batman and send you back to Arkham." Punchline begins tearing up in seconds and shaking her head no while whimpering, trying to get free while she got her to remember how Batman could see the genuine sadness written on her bruised face whenever she gets placed in Arkham.

Kid Flash smacks Robin in the back of the head and the Boy Wonder rubs it while frowning at his best friend. The rest glared at his blunt choice of words and the acrobat now understands why he needs to learn some respect. The clown princess sees the shot and begs silently to make it vanish from her teary green eyes.

"Sorry about this idiot, he tends to show no mercy on criminals." Kid Flash apologized as he drags him with the help of Arrowette out of med bay.

"Wait," the Team froze to hear her voice...so quiet and very timid. "Please don't leave, I'll talk."

The trio sat back down and their four older comrades asked her questions that led to her being truthful. Each answer she gave them were from ones about the Light and Cadmus, not herself...her life. Robin walks over to Punchline with a deep frown after he sees that she doesn't care for herself and living in a world of disaster.

"Next question, what did Joker, Harley, and Andrew do to you for years?" Punchline gulped nervously and knew this will cost her breathing soul.

The Team does know that she's twelve years old and going to thirteen next year. She was shivering and shaking, but Superboy shockingly held her hand and Miss Martian did the same to keep her at ease. Punchline begun telling the truth as the League hears everything and grew enraged, the clowns tried to break her apart by selling her off to Lex Luthor as a slave to teach her some manners.

After saying everything while Wonder Girl silently kept the lasso hidden away, the Team storms out of med bay and left the teenage demigoddess with the clown princess. She pulls the lasso from the child's foot and lets Wonder Woman take it from her hands. Her mother nods at her and pats her shoulder while trying to keep her relaxed.

"It's not your faults, it's always been mine." That was the last straw and Wonder Girl whips her head angrily at Punchline with a hardened glare, which got the Team backing away.

"YOUR FAULT?!! NO NO NO HONEY, IT'S THE FAULTS OF THE PEOPLE WHO HURT YOU, STARVE YOU, PUNISH YOU, SELL YOU, AND BREAK YOU!!" The Team froze to hear Wonder Girl snap and lash the truth out at Punchline. "YOU DON'T GIVE TWO FUCKS ABOUT YOUR OWN LIFE, THEY NEVER CARED AND LOVED YOU CAUSE YOU SAW WHAT WAS TRULY RIGHT!! THEY'RE BLAMING YOU FOR THOSE HEISTS AND DEATHS CAUSE THEY KNEW THAT YOU'LL NEVER BE LIKE THEM!!"

Aqualad tries to get his girlfriend to calm down, but she snaps at him in warning with glowing silver eyes and went back to his spot. Wonder Woman knew that her daughter has the right to snap, though stand her ground and went over to the teenage demigoddess. Punchline was wide-eyed with tears streaming down her face, trying to get away from Wonder Girl and get free from the cuffs.

"Bella, you're scaring her." Wonder Woman warned her.

"DIANA, SHE HAS TO HEAR THIS WHENEVER SHE LIKES IT OR NOT!! IF THEY WERE YOUR PARENTS, WILL THEY SELL YOU TO SOME RICH MAN WHO WILL MAKE YOU INTO A MONSTER?!! IF THAT WAS YOUR FUCKING BOYFRIEND...YOU'RE A GODDAMN TWELVE YEAR OLD GIRL FOR ZEUS'S SAKE!! HE SHOULDN'T BE CHEATING ON YOU WITH SOME DUMB WHORE, YOU'RE BETTER THAN ALL OF THEM AND YOU CAN'T SEE THAT SHIT YOUR OWN SELF!!" Wonder Girl yelled out angrily, facing Punchline while trying not to go full Light Avatar State and turning serious with a deepened alpha tone. "We wanna help you if you let us, I'm sorry for snapping, but you have to hear the truth of what I think and I believe all of us agree that you're safe here. We're a close pack, we've decided to watch over after somebody won the glaring contest with his mentor, and we'll keep you safe and sound from others. Please, we want you to trust us...we won't hurt you."

Punchline was set free by Black Canary, the small girl slowly begins walking to Wonder Girl and starts hugging her tight. The League was shocked like the Team, who were relieved that the clown princess was complying and was actually content. The teenage demigoddess picks her up and carries the petite child to the rolling chair.

"Your real parents were special indeed, they both died protecting you from Joker when he got Harley to take you years ago. You look just like your mother and father, his hair and eyes, your mother's looks and personality...Kent and Inza did mention about their deceased granddaughter having a stuffed animal named Koneko. Don't worry, I got your friend safe...right here." Punchline's dull eyes gleamed as she gently takes Koneko from her hands and hugs it close to her, closing her eyes that went back to green after the happy pills were flushed out of her entire system. "Catwoman's willing to take you under her wing and Black Canary will be there to give you therapy sessions. Batman will tell you about your parents cause the League were very close to them and were honored to have a cute little niece. She was smart, brave, adorable, and nice unlike this fool who tried to use his mentor as a weapon. They know who you really are, the League broke the case that you wanted to know and got you home. We'll get you a room fixed and find something comfy for you to wear. Okay?"

Punchline nodded shyly and kept holding her friend with a small smile. Wonder Girl went to the kitchen and takes out some fruit yogurt with a protein shake to the side. The Team watches the teenage demigoddess went back to med bay and present the clown princess with those chosen items.

"Slow and steady steps," the clown princess gulps and begins eating slowly, earning smiles and relieved looks that meant Punchline was getting really hungry.

'How do you know that she was hungry Bella? I didn't hear her stomach making noise,' the clone said to her.

'She was fidgeting and holding her stomach. We have to find her official rank first, then the girls and I have to find some clothes for her to wear at the mall.' Wonder Girl answered while shaking the bottle and opening it for Punchline. "It's milk chocolate, I know this won't taste good...I slipped something helpful in it for you."

Punchline sips the shake, humming in delight and drank the liquid as she starts enjoying what was in it. She puts the empty bottle down and licks her lips at the sweet flavor of it. Wonder Girl was told by Kent's widow Jolene that she was an alien, which means that Punchline was half alien and could be healed by a few months if they slipped some magic-based healing potions in everything she wants to devour or chug down her throat.

'My love, what did you put in her food and drink?' Aqualad asked the teenage demigoddess.

'Jolene's healing potions mixed with my nectar, I have to Kaldur...she's malnourished.' Wonder Girl replied. 'Besides, she likes it and seems to be peaceful for now. M'gann, Artemis, we're going shopping later on when it reaches noon and taking Evie with us.'

The teenage demigoddess saw Eva hold her arms out and complies, lifting her up and setting her to latch on her front like a koala. Wonder Girl smells her unmarked scent glands, it was hidden from others and seems to be sweet. Eva hums and enjoyed the comfort from this strong female who was willing to cradle her like a little baby, which was ironic cause the clown princess was somehow the youngest out of the youngsters in this room.

M'gann and Artemis took off the makeup inside the large bathtub to see that Eva was completely healed. The female trio begun getting rid of the dyes and paints on her body while checking for more bruises. Wonder Girl did an amazing job finding some worthy products that will wash away paints, dyes, makeup, and other things as they gave her a nice bath.

The girls saw that she was a natural ginger with green eyes and ivory skin, Eva was blushing in embarrassment with closed eyes as she covers her body with a large towel. M'gann saw her insecurities through a telepathic link and hugged her while the small girl pouts up at the female Martian with teary eyes. Wonder Girl somehow found an outfit she was doing and got something for Eva, a cute one that'll make her stand out and look elegant.

"This will work for now, she'll love this." Artemis saw a casual attire with a nod of approval and got Eva out of the tub with M'gann's help.

M'gann and Artemis left for a bit, so that Opal can fix Eva up with her attire till they reached the mall. The teenage demigoddess removed the hair extensions and begun styling it in a way that makes the young red-headed girl look graceful. After doing that, she places some natural makeup and use her chi-bending to heal up everything till it was permanently removed.

"And here's what Eva Nelson should be looking like," the girl's green eyes opened to see the real version without any paint and dyes, smiling softly at the features and how Opal captured everything. "Your family will be so happy and amazed that you took their genes. They'll always forever stay in your heart, be bold and always keep your loved ones safe."

The boys were waiting as M'gann and Artemis went to check on Eva. They immediately squealed and were cooing at the cuteness of this outfit. She wore a scarlet red shirt with the black cat logo, long white thigh-high socks, crimson red and black sneakers, a gray plaid miniskirt, her short hair was in a high ponytail, and her face was done very well with natural makeup and a bit of rosy blush on it.

Eva was dragged into the living room by Artemis who lifts her off her seat and the boys froze to see what Opal did to her. She looks so matured and elegant. Eva held her hands together and tilts her head at the four young men's wide-eyed expression with a nervous look.

Opal places Kaldur's jacket to cover Eva and make the young magic-user comfy before putting her white beanie hat on her head. The little girl sighs and nuzzles into the clothing when she gets Koneko from M'gann. Opal picks her up and smiles when the boys can see how Eva likes to be carried around within her consent.

"We got a news update, the Joker, Harley Quinn, and Andrew Merry have been officially charged with multiple crimes including child kidnapping and attempted rape. The victim was shockingly Punchline, she has left proof and details of what they've done to her in police custody. She's currently being put under the Justice League's supervision and all her charges have been dropped after multiple people came forward with evidence that she never kills innocents." Eva gave the Team a questioning look of confusion over the teenage demigoddess's right shoulder and they all responded with reassuring expressions.

"Evie, we're going to the mall with the girls and get a few things for you. M'gann and Artemis will hold you if I need to do something important. That's good with you kiddo?" Eva nodded and clung onto Opal's front in response. "Keep that hat over your head and make sure you tell us whenever you want something. Kaldur, Conner, I know you two will turn that empty guest room into her bedroom, so I trust both of you men to watch over the mountain. Jason couldn’t believe it, his favorite modern author was coming to Gotham for a book signing. He had brought his favorite of D. F. Phantom’s books for him to sign. “How to Hero”, “The Infinity Map”, “The Freak who Became King”, and his favorite “Death and Dying for Dummies”.

Jason was practically vibrating with joy. Soon he would be shaking hands with the first modern author who really spoke to him. His books had gotten Jason through some tough times, he first read “The Infinity Map” when he was on the streets, he loved imagining going to all the amazing places in the Infinity Realms, he often dreamed of visiting Ghost Writer’s library and seeing if he could find unpublished Austin books, or books she wrote in alternate dimensions. “The Freak who Became King” reminded him of his own history as a nobody who became a somebody by a twist of fate. “How to Hero” always had great advice when he first started out as Robin. But the book that affected him most was “Death and Dying for Dummies”. Reading that book made him feel like he wasn’t alone, that there was someone with the answers he didn’t know he was looking for.

He couldn’t wait to finally meet D. F. Phantom in the flesh. He had imagined there meeting a thousand times. He had rehearsed a dozen times, the words he was going to say to express how much the author impacted his life.

Yes he was a fanboy, and his siblings could never know, nor could the rest of the hero community, he would never live it down.

Apparently it was a family trip as Roy and Lian where there to with Lian clutching “Cujo and the Lost Squeaky” and talking excitedly to Babs who was holding “The Guy in the Chair got Up”.

And Babs brought the Gotham Sirens with her as Ivy was suggesting Lian might like “Super Naturals” for the pictures, while Harley was now talking about the psychological analysis of J. F. Phantom with…. Where did Dinah Drake come from?

“I still think this is ridiculous,” you sigh into the screen.

You were currently at school, Star City Academy, but Kaldur had decided to tell Red Tornado what we had learned in Taipei with Roy.

“So you have told no one else of this mole?” he asked.

“We cannot be sure if one exists. And if it does, if the team is being betrayed from within, I must investigate without… tipping my hand. But perhaps I should tell Batman?”

“Generally, the Batman expects the team to handle its own problems, but the decision is yours,” Red Tornado reminded us, and you let out a sigh.

You were hiding out inside a broom closet and knew you only had a couple of minutes until the next bell.

“I will return after monitor duty on the Watchtower,” Red added, and you frowned.

“I thought you were exempt from monitor duty since becoming our… den mother,” Kaldur reminded him, clearly confused.

“Recognize: Red Tornado; 1-6.” the computer spoke up, and you glanced out the small window in the door as some students walked by.

Red Tornado turns back to Aqualad and the screen with your face, “I agreed to cover for Green Arrow. He has an interpersonal event with Black Canary,” he explained, and you rolled your eyes.

“Of course he does,” you groan.

“A hot date,” Red tornado finishes, and you can just imagine Ollie buttering Red tornado up with those words asking him to cover his shift.

Once Red went through the Zeta, you took a breath, “I’m so not even going home today,” you mutter, and your Atlantean friend offered a light chuckle.

“I will see you then, my friend,” he tells you, and the line goes dead.

“I hope you don’t deep think this too bad without me, Kaldur’ahm,” you mutter, stepping out of the broom closet and rejoining the masses of students.

MOUNT JUSTICE

September 22nd, 18:43 EDT

When you got to the cave, the last thing you were expecting was to fight. You were suited up, thankfully, but your hair was down, and your school bag was hanging from your shoulder. There are fires and smoke everywhere, and you couldn’t even see who you were fighting.

“What the hell?” you muttered, and when a bright orange ball of fire started heading the way, you dropped down and rolled out of the way.

You tighten the straps of your bag and pull out your escrima sticks, “Who’s there?” you shouted but gained no response. “Show yourself!” you demanded.

Another flame ball came your way as the zeta tube lit up, “Recognized: Robin b-01.”

Your eyes went wide when you saw Robin step out. You threw yourself at him, pushing him to the floor as the flame passed you both.

“What the hell?” Robin asked, looking at you; in normal circumstances, you would have blushed. You were hovering over him, legs straddling his abdomen and hands braced on the floor on either side of his head. Your faces were close, and yet the only thing you could think about was what fresh hell today seemed to have brought.

“Right?” you stated desperately. “I came out of the zeta tube, and someone’s trying to flambee me!” your tone is a bit desperate.

“The Zeta!” Robin shouts suddenly.

“What about it? We can’t just leave the cave, not without looking if anyone else is here!” you argue.

“No! Artemis was right behind me! She’s going to zeta in any-”

“Recognized: Artemis b-0-7.”

You were up again in seconds, just as another shot was fired, you were moving, “Artemis! Get down!” you shout and catch as her eyes widen in surprise.

She dodges just in time, and you and Robin run up to her. Rob grabbed some of his birdarangs and shot them out into the smoke. Artemis jumps back as she fires an arrow, already pulling another from her quiver by the time she lands. You switch out your escrima sticks for a couple of marble bombs, and Robin stands beside you armed with more birdarangs. You all fire into the smokescreen, but you freeze when you hear something make contact. They clinked against something, but another fireball is launched towards you all before you can figure out what. As all three of you dive away to dodge, it hits the wall between the two Zeta Tubes and bursts out. As you get up, you can barely make out two figures through the smoke.

“Who are we fighting?” Artemis shouts, still firing arrows as we keep throwing things into the unknown.

“Don't know,” the Boy Wonder admits as he comes to her side, “but we're sitting ducks by the tubes. Head for the exit!”

Together the three of you take off towards the hallway on your right, barely dodging a massive stream of fire. Before we can get too far, water starts flooding in rapidly.

“Or not,” you decide, turning around to run.

Even though we tried, there was no way that we could’ve outrun the massive wave. It pulled you all under and, with a strong current, slammed us into the wall. When the water level receded, we got up coughing and started running. You were trying to think up a mental map of the cave as the other two followed behind me.

“Robin to Team,” he was trying his communicator. “Come in,” he called again, but it was apparent, he was getting nothing. “Aqualad!” he shouted.

You were trying to plan a way out but weren’t sure what to do; your hair was whipping against your back, the loose wet strands a slapping reminder that this was happening, and something was attacking you. A fire blast knocked the three of you down, but then you spotted the showers. The three of you took off, and once again, they followed you. Once inside, you started turning taps.

“Robin to BatCave. Override R-G-4.” Robin snaps into the comm. “Cave calling Justice League: H-O-J-slash-Watchtower; B-0-1. Priority: Ray.” he kept trying and trying, but you were sure he was just getting static.

“Rob, the comms bust be down, locked,” you tell him seriously, and the water comes down around you.

“At least the water's helping,” he sighs in relief as they both join you in the center of the room, that when you hear it, an eerie creaking and groaning noise.

You couldn’t help but let out a groan as handles start popping off the walls, tiles and the showerheads followed.

Then the room was flooding, and you sent Robin a murderous glare. “Or not,” he mumbles just before the water sweeps us up.

Your lungs are already burning as you all duck underwater. You hold your breath looking for an exit, any exit, but your options weren’t great, and so when Robin holds up an exploding birdarang, you pointed at the wall. Robin grits his teeth as he places the device on the wall, then setting it to detonate. The wall blows out into another hallway inside the Mountain, and we’re coughing as we struggle to our feet, trying to get air back in their lungs. The second we’re capable, we start running down the hall to the kitchen/living room area.

“You just had to jinx us,” you heaved as we came into the kitchen.

“We need to get lost,” Robin decides, ignoring you.

You desperately look around, searching for a way out.

“The air vent!” Artemis called, and your heads snapped to the stove and the low vent.

“Perfect,” you affirm.

“Good. Go!” Robin commands, you and Artemis run straight towards it while he turns to a control panel.

Artemis jumps the island in the kitchen, condensing her bow and then attaching it to her belt before climbing on top of the stove to pull the vent cover off.

“Rob, what are you-?” you start as he pulls up his holo computer.

“Downloading Cave blueprints,” he tells you, as Artemis starts climbing up, “could come in…” he trails, and you could hear the metallic footsteps coming your way; your expression dropped as you meet his gaze. “Go! Go!” he whispers as he heads towards you and the vent. You jump up after Artemis, and Robin followed a second later.

Robin starts directing you guys as soon as you make it through the vertical ascent. “Go left,” he urges, and a second after he made the turn himself, a blast of fire shoots behind us. “Uh. Too close,” he mutters, meeting your worried eyes before you both continue after Artemis.

“Take the first right,” he says, pulling up the blueprints again. “There should be a vent cover right in front of you.”

You all slide down the vertical tube and land in what seems to be a control room. Robin leads you from here on, and right as you make a turn, the pipe you had just came out explodes with fire. From the explosion, the blaze falls to the catwalk. The scariest part of it all was that there was a shadowy figure within the flames. They look around, raising their arms, and the fire follows the command, blooming out.

“Yeah, because that’s not thoroughly terrifying,” you mutter.

Robin and Artemis don’t respond. The former simply grabs your hand and starts pulling you with him. You all duck down behind some machinery.

“I should’ve just taken my chances at Dinah’s. I mean, she’d probably go back to GA’s anyways,” you mutter.

“What?” Artemis asked, turning toward you with wide eyes momentarily.

Before you could delve in any further, the machinery starts beeping until a screen cracks.

“That’s not good,” Robin laments, and you all take off in a pathway down the middle of the room.

Pipes start bursting overhead, and gas starts to hiss out the ominous figure is now wholly concealed, and the fire begins attacking you again. You take temporary refuge behind another piece of machinery, and Robin starts rechecking the map, “I know that another access tunnel is here somewhere,” he mumbled.

“You mean this one?” Artemis asks, and you all whip toward her.

“Go,” he pushes you, and she drops into it. You follow but risk a glance back. Robin grabs another birdarang, arming it and mounting it to the machine beside him before heading towards you. You jump forward once he’s behind you and crawl forward as you slid your way down the vertical descent.

“Hold on,” Robin calls out as he lands behind you.

Robin nods towards the control panel on the wall beside you, and you nod, grabbing one of your ring daggers you pry the panel open. You put the dagger down and hold onto the panel, tugging it off. As you placed it on the ground beside you, Robin hooked his holo computer into the open wiring.

“What are you up to?” you ask, dusting your hands off and grabbing your dagger.

“Locking out Cave’s motion and heat sensors to prevent the enemy from tracking us,” Robin explained as he starts hacking. You nod in agreement and twirl the dagger once in your hands.

“And I ask again, who is the enemy?” Artemis questions; you can hear her annoyance.

“Let’s find out,” Robin says with a smirk pressing a couple more buttons. “Downloading Cave security footage….. There,” he announces as four frames show up; he zooms in on the first one, which shows Wally, Conner, Artemis, and Kaldur working on Conner’s bike.

“Torque Wrench,” Wally calls out. M’gann uses her telekinesis to float it over to him. “Thank you, Green Cheeks.”

Superboy stands with his hands on his hips as Kaldur finally joins the group. “I have been meaning to ask, any problem juggling schoolwork with your responsibilities here?” he asks curiously.

“No.” Conner is quick to reply.

“Juggling is just one of my many talents,” Wally says pridefully with a slight chuckle. “Socket Wrench.”

M’gann gives it to Wally with her telekinesis as she talks to Kaldur, “Daily cheerleading practice has presented a challenge,” she admits, but is quick to turn towards Kaldur once Wally has the wrench. “Oh, but my first loyalty is always to the Team. This Team, not the Bumblebees.”

“Artemis starts school today. Do you think she will have trouble maintaining her loyalties?” Kaldur asks.

You know exactly what he’s doing, but you bite your tongue. If Kaldur was trying to suss someone out discreetly, he needs some help.

Surprisingly enough, Wally’s the one to speak up, “Nah, she’ll manage alright.” Wally says as he stands up. “I mean, how much more hostile and annoying can she-” the camera and sound cut out.

“What happened?” Artemis asks worriedly.

“Explosion took out the camera. I’ll find another angle.” Robin informs, with a slight edge in his voice.

This new angle shows the Cave’s water forming into three large streams before crashing into the dryland and taking out that camera. The next shows the four others getting to their feet and charging, only to be overtaken by the water as the camera cuts out. The fourth shows Kaldur and M’gann heading up the staircase, the water was thrashing wildly behind them as the fire takes out the camera in front of them.

“That's it. All four are dead.” Robin mumbles.

You immediately hit him, and Artemis looks at him, appalled.

“The cameras, I-I meant the cameras!” he assures, though his voice shakes and you stare at him. “I'm sure the others are okay.” he’s quickly back to his usual confidence, but you had already heard it, the break, the quake, the uneasiness. “Just give me a sec to find the fastest route to the hangar.”

Artemis falls against the wall of the tunnel, “Yeah, they’re fine,” she mumbles. “They’ve all got superpowers. They can handle anything,” you know she’s trying to reassure herself, but it doesn’t help any of your nerves.

“Alright, let’s go,” Robin announced as he found a route.

Robin took the lead, and Artemis followed right after him. It took a few minutes, but soon enough, he stopped. Together with Artemis, Robin pulled open a panel above the Cave’s library. The two drop-down, and you land right after. Together you all head down the stairs towards the first floor.

Robin leads you to a specific section and turns back to you and Artemis, “There's a secret passage behind one of these bookcases.” Robin tells you, and you level him with a look as all three of you begin pulling at books.

“Seriously? Cliché much?” you ask with a slight flair of a mocking tone.

“You should see the Batcave,” Robin says with a sarcastic chuckle.

“Is that an invitation?” you shot back, and he offers you a smirk.

“Seriously, you’re flirting, now?” Artemis calls, and your cheeks turn pink as you refocus on the books.

When the door to the library opens, the three of you are quick to arm yourselves, birdarangs, arrows, and escrima sticks at the ready. You turn cautiously and start to move slowly until you’re able to hide behind a row of books.

Metal clangs through the room, and you start searching for a secondary route out.

“Artemis, Nightingale, Robin,” a robotic voice sounds, and your brow furrows because it sounds just like…

“It’s Red Tornado,” Artemis lights up, but before you can warn her because you know for a fact it can’t be Red Tornado, she’s already out in the open. As the robot reaches out for her, you dive and pull her out of the way. Pulling the two of you under a table, rolling before you both prop back up.

“Yes on the Red. No on the Tornado.” Robin all-but shouts as the Not-Red-Tornado robot destroys the table. Robin managed a solid kick at the robot, not that it did much.

The three of you move quickly towards an exit, but another Red Robot, feminine in design, cuts off your escape. She creates fire from her hands and aims it at the three of you. Robin jumps up on the bookcase to get out of the way, Artemis and you follow quickly behind him.

“Who- What are they?” she questions, and while you wished to know as well, something told you, asking them wouldn’t get you the answer you want.

The fire sets off the sprinklers in this room; using the distraction, Robin drops down once more, and you follow. The both of you are pulling at books as Artemis takes up a defensive position perched from the bookcase. You can hear as bookcases start to fall, like a set of dominos just as you pull on The Mysteries of El Dorado. Artemis is beside you, and the three of you run into the now open secret passage.

You’re booking it down the hall, Robin beside you, running side by side as Artemis trailed only a few paces behind you.

“Did you know Tornado had… siblings?!” she demands.

You and Rob shared a look of mutual concern, “No,” you both admit lowly.

You pause for a second when you come to T in the path. Robin looks both ways before moving to go left. He gets stopped when Artemis grabs onto his arm.

“So now what?” she questions. “Red Tornado is one of the powerhouses of the League. How are we supposed to take down two of him?”

“They do seem pretty user-unfriendly,” Robin comments, you know he’s trying to stop Artemis from panicking more than she already was, but you weren’t sure his humor was helping this time.

“Don’t joke. They-” she snaps, but before she can go on, a voice comes over the cave’s speaker system.

“Attention, Robin. Attention, Artemis. Attention Nightingale,” it was one of the androids. “You have exactly 10 minutes to surrender, or the lives of your teammates will be extinguished.”

“Oh, cause that’s awesome,” you mutter, raising a hand to your head. They had them. Those red tin cans have all your friends, suddenly staying whelmed seemed so much more complex. You quickly tied your hair back with the band around your wrist in a low, messy, and tangled-up bun.

“Robin,” you called his name seriously, and he paused to look at you, “none of this is very whelming,” you state.

Artemis sent you a look of pure confusion, but he seemed to understand. It was like all of a sudden, he could see everything about your stance that was false. With the fake confidence and plain look., he could see just how scared you were, and he nodded.

“No, it’s not,” he agreed before grabbing your hand, and the three of you took off once more.

The robot continues to provide nerve-wracking time updates as you all run down the hallway.

“Eight minutes.”

“We can access the hangar from here,” Robin tells us, but as we turn towards the exit, we hear the sound of rushing water. “Or not,” he repeated.

Artemis’s voice cracks as we all start running again. “Will you please stop saying that?”

Once again, the water surges, and we all get swept off our feet by force. You’re tumbling in the water until Robin grabs you. He shares his rebreather with you, and you notice his cape’s gone. You nod at him when you’re good, and he swims to Artemis, helping her find her orientation before giving her the rebreather. Robin looks back at you, but your eyes go wide when you notice the Evil Red grab Artemis by the ankle. She gasps, losing the rebreather, as he tries to drag her away from Robin. You both move quickly; Robin moves to Artemis and one of her stray arrows while you pull out a couple more of your marble bombs. Robin manages to hit the android in the eye with the arrow. He then grabs onto Artemis as he fires his grapple to the far wall. He grabs you as he passes by, and you leave a line of bombs behind.

You break to the surface gasping for air, and you barely have a chance to get your bearings before you hear Wally's voice.

”Look out!” he shouted, and all three of you up spotted the she-bot and her flames. Taking a deep breath, you dive under once more to dodge the fireball. You surface, only to have to dive under again to avoid her second shot.

When you come up the third time, it’s beside where Conner and Wally were stuck.

“You guys okay?” you ask in a low voice, swimming in front of them to take in their faces.

“Forget us,” Conner snaps. “Help M’gann,” he urges, bringing your attention to the fire cage on the outlook.

“No,” you whisper as you spot Aquald holding M’gann’s body.

“Aqualad is she-” Artemis shouts, unable to bring herself to finish the question.

“She is unconscious., Kaldur shouts back. “I fear she… we cannot survive much longer,” his voice breaking shows just how much trouble he is in as well.

You turn to Robin, and he seems to understand; how could he not. You and Kaldur were close, closer than arguably anyone else on the team, the fear in your eyes had shifted. It was no longer about you getting hurt; it was about him getting killed.

You don’t get a chance to talk about it before you’re forced to duck below the surface again. You make a break for it while under the water, resurfacing by the stairs. You’re near where Sphere had been launched into a wall. Reds One and Two take up spaces on either side of the stairs, blocking both of your ways out. Artemis is quick to pull an arrow from her quiver but turns to both of you.

“I’m almost out of arrows.” her voice slightly unsteady, and you quickly start looking around.

You get an idea, though not ideal. “Distract them, now,” you snap.

Artemis fires her arrow at the she-bot, and Robin heads down the stairs, throwing Birdarangs at the he-bot; neither do much damage.

When both bots raise their arms to the fire, you reach yours out and grab Robin and Artemis. You wait until the last second before pulling them with you off the side of the staircase and into the water. You release them in the air, and all three of you dive down. The two follow you as you swim to the vent at the bottom of the hanger, the pressure pressing against your heads. You pull out a dagger and prop the duct open. You urge Robin and Artemis through first, and then the three of you make quick work of swimming upwards. You’re the last to break through at the top, and Robin is quick to pull you into the dry vent so you can breathe. You’re leaning against him as you heave and cough up some water.

“Six minutes,” the android’s voice comes back, and you close your eyes for a second.

“What do we do now?” Artemis’s voice has this edge to it, and you realize with closed eyes that it’s panic.

“We save them,” Robin’s voice doesn’t have his normal lilt to it. In fact, you’d argue you’d never heard him sound more like Batman in your life. When you opened your eyes, you caught the way he was staring at you as he helped you sit back up. “That's how it works,” he reminds us.

“Maybe that's how it's supposed to work, but those robots already took out our four super-powered friends,” Artemis snapped, and you began to recognize the symptoms. She was going to have a panic attack, and soon.

“You seem distraught,” the Boy Wonder commented, and you groaned softly as you turned to face them both.

“Distraught?!” Artemis screeched. “M'gann is dying. We have no powers, and I'm down to my last arrow. Of course, I'm distraught!” she yells at him.

“Well, get traught or get dead!” you snap, and Robin’s head whipped to you in surprise. You weren’t one to typically lose your cool.

“NG,” he called your name softly, and you heaved another breath. You refused. You absolutely refused to lose anyone today. You meet Robin’s gaze and exhale. He nods and starts leading you through the vents once more.

“How can you be so calm?” Artemis asks, following the two of you.

“Practice,” Robin manages a light smile, even if it is just for a moment, “I've been doing this since I was nine. Birdy’s been doing it just as long,” Robin admits, and the girl in green gives you a wide-eyed look.

“What good is that now?” she asks. “What chance do we have against an unrelenting machine?”

“Oh, duh!” he pauses suddenly. “They’re machines and one electromagnetic pulse…” Robin begins, and you can feel a bubble of hope form.

“Will shut down any machine within range!” you say excitedly.

Artemis gives a bright smile and a very sarcastic “Great!” before her face shows how annoyed she still is. “Except you better have an EMP emitter in your utility belts because I know I don’t have one in my quiver.”

“I’m fresh out,” Robin smiles despite his words. “But I’m betting we can make one.” he brings a hand to his ear. “Whaddya say, KF, doable?”

“Totally doable,” Wally’s voice cracked over the comms, and you remember the stray birdarang that bounced off the android. You snorted. Robin always had a plan.

“You sneaky-” your eyes had narrowed on the Boy Wonder when you got another alert.

“Five minutes.”

KF spoke up again, “Ya know, if you had more time,” not exactly a vote of confidence, but you could do this.

“What do we need?” you press.

“Med Lab, X-ray machine.” Kid instructs, and the three of you drop out of the vent in the med lab. You all stay low as you start moving the x-ray machine. “You’ll find a small vacuum tube called a vircator that converts high-energy pulses.” You open a panel on the X-ray machine and find what Wally’s talking about. You bite down on your lip as you listen carefully to his instructions.

“Reprogram the unit’s microwave conversion from X-rays to EMPs with a cascading energy vector directed outward.”

Robin does this using his wrist’s holo computer. When he’s done, he nods at you, and you reach to remove the tube. You turn it slowly before it pops out.

“A ripple effect,” Robin realizes, suddenly “like dropping a stone in a pond,” he opens his holo screen up again.

“A stone with 10 to the twelfth power wattage,” Kid Flash muses, “Yeah.”

“So we’ll need to hook it up to the Cave’s main generator,” you sigh.

Artemis arches an eyebrow as Robin shuts his computer down, “which is where?” you can hear it in her voice; something told you she had a hunch.

When Robin didn’t respond, she turned to you. Another sigh slipped past your lips, “where do you think?”

She gives you an exasperated look as you all climb back into the vents. You’re just coming out of the vents again when you get your newest update.

“Four minutes.”

You guys are elevated and can see everything below you, including the rising water level sneaking up on Wally and Conner and the intense flames that have trapped M’gann and Kaldur.

“We need to hurry,” you note, scanning the scene with concerned eyes.

“Okay. Make with the distraction,” he tells KF through the comm.

“Hey, Red Tomato! Who’s your girlfriend, Red Onion?” KF yells, and you can’t help but roll your eyes.

“Yeah, and by the way, worst death trap ever,” Conner shouts.

Their distraction seems to work as it gains the red-bots’ attention. “We can escape any time we want,” Conner adds as Robin hooks up his repelling device. “I can vibrate my molecules out of here before your binary brains can count to two!” KF taunts

Just as he’s about to go down, you grab him and look at him seriously, “if you die, Rob, I swear I will bring you back just to kill you myself,” you warn him.

“Yes, Ma’am,” he smirked, and you pull him into a hug. When he pulls back, his face turns serious. He looks over to Artemis, “Cover me,” he states, and she nods.

He grapples down and swings over to the generator. Artemis notches her last arrow as the boys down below keep up their ruse.

“And you can’t drown a Kryptonian, dumb bots. We don’t breathe air,” Conner bluffs. KF laughs obnoxiously as Robin disconnects his cable. “And Ms. Martian?” KF continues as Robin pulls open the panel and sets the tech inside. “I can’t believe you’re buying her act.” Robin connects his computer.

“Rerouting power now,” he tells us through the comms.

“Yeah,” Conner is quick to pick up. “You know how hot it gets in the caves of Mars?”

Robin looks over his shoulder before glaring at the screen. Even before he says it, you can tell, “It’s not working.”

“That cage is just making her homesick,” Conner gripes.

“Oh, god,” you mutter.

“Duh!” KF laughs again.

“The circuit’s incomplete. I need something conductible,” he tells us, but in his haste, he stopped paying attention. “A piece of metal or-

“Robin, look out!” you scream, just before a massive wave washes over him. You’re so focused on trying to spot Robin again that when the fireball comes towards you, it’s only thanks to Artemis that you’re not a piece of burnt toast. The two of you are quick to duck away. Realizing that you have nothing to use at this distance, you move back to the vent, just narrowly avoiding another wave of fire. You creep through the vent until you reach a gap where you can see.

Looking through the broken vent, you watch as the he-bot brings Robin to the outlook, still suspended in water, “Robin,” you swallow back a scream and a cry as you look at him. Suspended in the water, he’s not fighting, and he seems like he’s not breathing. You close your eyes and focus, you know him better than that, and you know that he can’t be dead, not yet and not like this. You’re pulled out of your thoughts when you hear Artemis’ cries.

She’s curled into a ball, holding herself, mumbling, “No. No, no, no.”

“Snap out of it, Artemis,” you urge the older girl, and she looks at you with watery eyes. “They’re not dead yet,” you remind her, but her expression is broken, and you can see the lack of hope she seems to have.

“We can save them, alright? We can, because we have to,” you push. The water drops Robin onto the ground beside Kalur and M’gann’s cage, but he doesn’t seem to move.

“NG, we’re running out of time and options! If we surrender,” Artemis murmurs, “we die with the others.”

You shake your head and start moving. Without Robin and his schematics, you were moving blindly.

“But if we find a way out, out of the Cave, out of the mountain… we can get help. Call in the League,” she offers.

You look back to tell her there’s no way and no time, and in doing so you missed the drop before you, and suddenly you are sliding down the vent. Artemis following right after you.

When you land, you’re in front of Wally’s souvenir display. Since he didn’t live at the cave, he didn’t have a room until you and Robin had found this one tucked away. It was open to any team member, but Wally was usually the one who updated it.

You get another update as you stand back up and stare at the items before you, “Three minutes.”

Artemis sighs as she sits back up. “Oh, who am I kidding? Best we can do is hide,” she rubs her arm hopelessly. “Hope the League finds us before the Reds.”

Her depressive thoughts are overpowering as you both look at the items before you. You tune out as you stare at these tokens. Not trophies, sure you’d won and gotten out alive after these missions, but they can’t be trophies. They need to be reminders, proof that you can and have succeeded, proof that the people currently trapped have gone above and beyond to work with each other and protect each other. Your fists clenched as you looked at these momentoes. You were not giving up if that meant you were on your own against the reds from this point on. Then Artemis could stay behind and hide. You weren’t giving up. Ever.

It’s the newest update that shakes you from your thoughts, “One minute.”

You catch Artemis’s eye as she sets the Cheshire mask pack on its display. And then both of your eyes land on the arrow, a regular arrow, the one she had used to save your lives against Amazo.

“Didn’t Robin say he needed something metal,” she notes, and you look at her.

“I have a plan, it’s insane, but it would work so much better with you,” you decide, looking at her and holding out your arm.

She grips it tight and nods.

You take a deep breath as the elevator doors open, it was a crazy plan, and if anything went wrong, you’d both probably die. Artemis had her bow in her hand and the arrow in her quiver; you’re both wearing defeated looks. The Reds turn to you instantly as you arrive on the platform before them.

“We surrender, stop the clock,” she tells them, her voice still broken, and she meets your eyes before you asses your friends before you.

Kaldur seems to stir from unconsciousness beside M’gann. Your fists clench as you spot Robin on the ground, and then Wally and Conner, both of whom take deep breaths as the water begins to cover them.

You take a deep breath yourself, and Artemis sends you the faintest nod of her head. She holds her hands up as if to offer her bow, and the water Red holds out a hand for her to give it to him. In an instant, she adjusts her hold on it, and your hand flies to your throat. You scream, the sonic waves pushing the reds back before they can adapt, and Artemis whirls around. She takes her shot, and you can do nothing but watch as it soars through the air. It sails across the cave and lands on its target, and it finished the circuit of the EMP emitter. Immediately electricity starts to crackle as the vircator begins to glow bright blue. Sound warps as a wave shoot out from the device. Everything starts shutting down, including the widget on your throat, and when it goes out, you can only watch with relief as the Reds crackle with energy before falling to the ground. As soon as their eyes go dark, the fire dissipates, and the water level drops. The boys below gasp for air, and you run to Robin.

“Kaldur, how’s M’gann?” Conner shouts worriedly.

He groans as he pushes himself up, “She breathes. I believe she will recover,” he looks over her head. “What of Robin?”

You drop to your knees beside him, and you know Artemis falls behind you. Cautiously you reach forward, a hand going to his neck to search for a pulse while the other rests on his chest. You press lightly against his chest, and he starts to cough.

“He-he’s breathing too,” you say, and you can feel the tears looming in your eyes. You help Robin sit as he continues to cough until his breathing regulates.

He looks over at Artemis as one of your hands moves to his back, “Way to get taught,” he muses with a smile.

Relief sinks in, and Artemis collapses backward, you can’t help the relieved laugh you let out, and she joins you. For a moment, you indulge yourself and lean forwards against Robin. Your arms go around him as your forehead connects with his shoulder. One of his hands finds yours, and soon they’re gripping each other tightly.

Eventually, you make your way down to where Conner and Wally are, M’gann is leaning heavily on Kaldur, and you’ve still got an arm around Rob.

“How’d you hold your breath that long underwater?” Kaldur asked as Artemis began fidgeting with some sort of device.

“Figured my only shot was to surrender, pretend to drown before I actually did,” Robin says confidently. “Blacked out though,” he admits, and you shake your head.

“Will you quit playing with that thing and cut us free already?” Wally demands of Artemis, “or better yet, NG, how about a scream?”

You stare at Wally with squinted eyes, “Sure, Wally let me break your eardrums for you,” you state flatly.

Artemis gives him a deadpanned look. “It’s not working genius, neither will her scream. EMP shuts down all machines, remember?”

“All machines present at the time,” Red Tornado’s voice grabs our attention, and we immediately are looking at him as he lands beside Conner and Wally. “What has occurred?”

“Had a little visit from your family,” Robin looks at the powered down Reds, the disdain evident in his voice.

“Your extremely nasty family,” Artemis is quick to add on.

“I was not aware I had relations,” Tornado informs you.

“Where have you been?” Conner demands suddenly.

“Monitor duty on the Watch Tower,” Tornado remarks, making his way over to the other robots. “When it became clear that Cave communications were down, I attempted to investigate, but your Zeta Tubes were also nonfunctional,” he kneels beside the two, “I transported to Providence and proceeded here.”

Suddenly Sphere starts to whir, catching all of your attention, before it manages to free itself. Your brow furrowed as Connor greeted it, “Hey boy.”

The machine in Artemis’s hand powered on, and your eyes went wide.

“The pulse has worn off!” KF and Robin say in unison, and you turn to Red Tornado.

“Tornado, don’t!” but you were too late. As Red Tornado reaches out to the she-bot, a zap connects their fingers as her eyes light back up. Red Tornado’s eyes glow in return. Before turning towards the Team and using a tornado to raise him, he then aimed two more at us.

He was sucking up the oxygen around you, and your hand raised to your neck. You couldn’t breathe. You dropped to your knees and watched as Kaldur, Robin, Conner, and Wally all pass out. You’re fighting the black, and you spot Artemis, a couple of feet away.

“Can’t… breathe.” she gasps before falling.

Your vision darkens as you turn back to Tornado, “please,” you gasp, and then everything is dark.

When you came to, Robin’s head was hovering over you, “take it easy, NG,” he said softly, helping you up.

“Oh, thank god you’re okay,” Canary was beside you in a second. Robin moved back to make space for your mentor as her inner mother hen began to show. She started looking you over for injuries, hesitant hands gliding around, making sure nothing hurt too bad.

“Where’s Artemis?” you asked dazedly, thinking of the girl you had seen shortly before you passed out.

“She’s alright,” Superman called as he helps her stand up.

“What happened here?” Superman demands, looking at your team.

“What happened?!” Artemis shoots back, and you waive Canary’s hands away. “The Reds happened. Tornado and his…” she stops trying to figure out a way to describe them when she realizes something’s missing. “Wait, where are they?”

“Gone,” Robin answeres, looking at you and then at her, “All three of them,” he is beating himself up over it, and honestly, so were you.

“Gone,” you mutter one last time, shaking your head. You had failed, failed to protect the cave, failed to protect your friends, and failed to get the bad guys.

“Sweetie,” Dinah called your attention softly, and you turned to her. “What-?” she was going to ask more, you were sure, but you cut her off. Your eyes were tightly shut, and your hand’s hand clenched as images of what had happened in the last few hours playing in your mind.

You kept your eyes on the ground as you pieced it all together. Your team could’ve died today, your friends. Even worse, you could’ve been one of the only survivors. Thinking of their near-deaths hurt you, you could imagine how weak Kaldur and M’gann were, how helpless Conner and Wally were, and how dead Robin had looked in that suspended beam of water. So much had happened tonight, so much had gone wrong, it was almost a miracle that you were all still here. Lifting your head, you made eye contact with Robin and then with Kaldur. Nothing about what happened today could be easily dismissed.

Top 10 Favorite Young Justice Characters

10. Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle

Starting off the list is Blue Beetle. Young Justice introduced me to him, and I was hooked. He’s probably the most mellow and calming voice. His arc and relationship with Bart (friendship or not) were my favorite aspects of S2. They bounced off each other in every scene. I was very disappointed when Jaime and Bart were sidelined so much, and hope S4 changes this (particularly with Bart).

Jaime in the number 10 spot since he doesn’t really have much of a memorable personality. Still love him to bits though.

        9. Will Harper/Red Arrow

Funny enough, I did not like Will. He was an asshole in S1; S2 kind of changed my mind about him but not enough since he didn’t appear as much. What really changed my mind was the episode “Private Security” (S3 Ep.4). I started looking back into Will’s storylines and, I have to admit, his is probably one of the best character development.

The first season had him unwillingly living a lie and betraying the people he cared for. In season 2 he was so consumed into finding the original Roy for five years, not even caring or focusing about his own life. I felt really bad for Will because he was probably going through an identity crisis and thought he couldn’t live his life without finding Arsenal. Probably felt guilty.

Seeing him living his own life and being happy with his daughter was so heartwarming. I smiled every time Will appeared in the latest season (totally ignoring the Will x Artemis fiasco), especially with Lian. I’m very proud of him.

I feel bad for putting him so low, yet I adore the next characters more.

 8. Garfield Logan/Beast Boy

I have been a massive Beast Boy fan since Teen Titans so you probably can imagine how excited to see him. His origin story was unique and his brother-sister bond with M’gann was very sweet. It was pretty weird seeing how much younger Gar was than Dick, but I got used to it. I was bummed that Gar wasn’t in S2 as much; however, S3 truly made up for it. 

After watching Beast Boy being a great leader in S5 of Teen Titans, I wanted a leader-like and more mature version of him. Young Justice truly delivered with Gar being the leader of the Outsiders. It’s nice to see him treated with respect rather than as a joke because that was my biggest gripe with Teen Titans. Though it was weird seeing him not crack a joke at all.

Gar’s story with his mom was heartbreaking to see. I literally cried seeing his reaction to revisiting his trauma in S2 and S3; I just wanted to hug and tell him how awesome he is. My only complaint with Gar in S3 was that the Outsiders weren’t established until near the end of the season.

His voice actor being Greg Cipes also gives him extra points (He’s a chill guy and radiates BB energy).

 7. Dick Grayson/Nightwing/ Robin I 

Sorry to all the hardcore Nightwing fans.

I love Dick (don’t get any ideas), but he doesn’t get enough development in the spotlight. One of the things I really wanted to see from him is his growth as a main leader, and his journey to becoming Nightwing. I was really bummed when these happened between the first two seasons.

To be honest, I don’t have as much to say about him other than straightforward qualities I enjoy about him.

1.His Voice (it’s so soothing)

2.His Personality (very charismatic)

3.Very Handsome (Probably in the top 3 my most handsome YJ Men list)

I put him higher than the others since he made a lot of contribution to the story and his new words (gotta love that aster!)

6. Megan Morse/M’gann M’orzz/Miss Martian 

If I made this list during S1, M’gann would have probably been in my top 3 (maybe even No. 1), but S2 didn’t give her any brownie points.

I really liked S1 Miss Martian because of her kind heart, awkward girl next door personality. Her trouble fitting in the beginning reminded me of when I was going through a time in high school; seeing her having trouble as well helped me feel not so lonely. M’gann powers were (still are) my favorite since I am a big fan of mind-like powers. I would feel so powerful. Watching her identity crisis(?) arc was great too. I’ve had trouble feeling comfortable in my own skin as well as my social anxiety (I’m a mess) and I could understand how scared Megan was of her friends’ thoughts on her true form. 

Oh boy. Season 2 basically ruined her. Learning what she would do to enemies was terrifying to see and left me wondering what happened to Miss Martian that made her step this far. What she almost did to Superboy was almost unforgivable. You do not try to manipulate with your boyfriend’s mind when you guys have an argument! Shame on you M’gann. If Superboy hadn’t forgiven you then I wouldn’t have either.

Good thing S3 somewhat redeemed her. Her kind heart was noticeable again and she refused to do that mind trick again (thank god). Very excited for the Superboy and Miss Martian wedding! Please creators, I beg of you to not skip over it. I want to cry my eyes out in happiness!

 5. Kaldur’ahm/Aquaman/Aqualad 

Now we’re in the top 5 with Aqualad (*ahem* Aquaman) starting it off.

Creating Kaldur was the best decision the creators ever did. I love him with all my heart!

He added diversity to the original team and was a great leader. S1 was not his breakout season, though the second season definitely was.

Kladur played the villain so well that he deserves an automatic Oscar. I never doubted that he was with the heroes, but he didn’t disappoint. My favorite part about Aqualad’s performance was when he rose from the ocean slowly like a cliché villain (he made it work), and the line he said right after he “killed” Artemis; it sent me chills. Love it! 

Pretty disappointed that he didn’t appear as much in S3. Very happy that he is a part of the LGBTQ+ community and is in a happy relationship. I’m a part of the community and loved that there was finally some representation in one of my favorite shows. Even so, I have to criticize how rushed and sidelined it was. I hope Kaldur and Wyynde’s relationship gets development.

 4. Kon-El/Conner Kent/Superboy

Like Will, I did not like Superboy at first. Mainly angry and volatile characters were never really my cup of tea. I do understand why he was upset and felt bad for him; I just handle anger the direct opposite as him. My love for Conner started growing around the end of S1. He was very sweet towards Miss Martian (bless him for not caring about her appearance) and his anger was in control.

Season 2 pretty much switched my opinions on him and M’gann. It was awful what M’gann almost did to him. That scene with him being so sad that what she did ruined that special bond they had almost made me cry. I wanted to give him a hug. He grew so much too since I don’t think he would have handled the whole M’gann drama as well in S1. A lot of furniture would’ve been broken.

I gotta admit something. I almost put Conner near the bottom (maybe no. 7). A comment in a poll in Amino changed my mind. I wrote a poll asking other fans who did they prefer SB or MM. At that point I said SB, though I didn’t think much of it. Someone (specifically yjfangirl) responded “Superboy has the best development in the show.” This had me thinking about how far SB has gone. In the beginning, Conner was an angry guy who felt alone and rejected by the person who he was meant to emulate. Now he is happier and living for himself rather than to be the next Superman. He’s getting married people! A little detail I noticed when rewatching S3 was Superboy mentioning to new characters that they weren’t obligated to be a hero because of their abilities. I adored this! The main reason why Superboy was created to be Superman if the original ever died, and another one of Luthor’s puppets. But he strayed from that pressuring path and is doing his own thing. Conner doesn’t want other people to feel like he did. What an absolute pure soul.

Also, yjfangirl, first I want to say Hi (*waves*)! Then say thanks for writing that comment. It made me really think about the bigger picture with SB and my love for him as grown exponentially. You probably didn’t mean to do that, but I still want to thank you. 😊

 3.Wally West/Kid Flash

We’re in the elites now.

I don’t know how to explain it, I just love Wally. He makes me laugh, and his character growth was great. At first, Wally was this cocky flirt who didn’t take the hero work as seriously. That changed in “Cold-hearted,” one of my favorite episodes in the series. This was when I really started seeing more of Wally than being this dumb flirt. It was great seeing him actually caring about helping people since I believed for a long time that he wanted to be a superhero to just have powers rather than actually protect others. The regret in his eyes when he thought his impulsive behavior killed Perdita helped me see who he really was- this somewhat arrogant speedster who had a kind heart. Episodes that can make me change my perspective on characters are truly special.

I was very upset that he wasn’t in S2 a lot. I understand why since he gave up the life, but I was still bummed. Seeing him being so loving and protective towards Artemis was amazing. Spitfire is my favorite ship and I will not give up on them. All I want is a happy ending! The penultimate episode of S3 was a hint that it will happen. Watching the S2 finale was heartbreaking, I cried watching him disappear, his love for Artemis being the last things he said. Artemis’ reaction did not(I just wanted to hug her). 

I have more to say, though I’m leaving it for another post. 😉

 2.Bart Allen/Kid Flash II/Impulse

Picking between Bart and Wally for second place was tough. Took me a while to decide; I’ll talk about it later on.

The moment Bart made his appearance, I absolutely adored him. He is amazing and I live for his hyper, fun attitude. His arc and relationship with Jaime were my favorite aspects of S2. What can I say, their chemistry is great to see.

That scene when he was meeting the Flash family was so adorable. His excitement was infectious and spoiling his dad and aunt’s births was hilarious! I watch it occasionally whenever I need a good laugh or reason to smile.

Unlike most time travelers- at least the ones I’ve seen- Bart was very involved with what was going on and befriended his biggest enemy- evil and weirdly huge future Blue Beetle. He was pretty careful about disclosing very important information and took things very seriously. You never know if disclosing everything was the thing that brought the world to chaos.

What I found interesting was his choice on how to interact with everyone. He seemed pretty gloomy in the future, but decided to portray this cheerful, devil-may-care attitude to be more likable. I understood (still kind of do). I had terrible mental health issues and I pretended to be happy in front of loved ones because I thought they wouldn’t care about me anymore. Bart got some brownie points for that.

I was dissatisfied when his role was greatly reduced. I wanted the creators to go further with Bart by revealing his past and how it affected him. He was pretty much comedy relief. You couldn’t imagine how disappointed I was, especially with it involving my second favorite character. Season 4 better change that.

I know that you shouldn’t assume a character’s sexuality, yet I really hope Bart is gay. There needs to be more clear representation and Bart can be one of them. I’m also a Bluepulse and Bartuado shipper (fine with either one as long as Bart’s bond with each of them stays strong).

Anyway, I mentioned that I would explain why I chose Bart for 2nd place over Wally. It mostly stems from wishful thinking. I really want S4 to have Bart as a main character since I believe the future will be strong plot point in the season. Development could surely happen such as Bart opening up more about what he went through. Let all those feelings go.

I’m going to write an article on my hopes for S4 when a release date is announced. Bart and Wally will most definitely be talked about.

1.Artemis Crock/Tigress/Artemis

That’s right people!

Artemis Crock, original member of the Team and daughter of villains!

She is such an inspiration to anyone who wants to go their own past without their parents’ support.

It’s hard to describe how much I love Artemis. She’s brave, strong-willed, and a kind person. It’s crazy how great of a person she is after all the terrible things that happened to her. I look up to her because I don’t have a healthy relationship with my parents (verbal and mental abuse) and there are times I don’t feel strong enough to stand on my own. I want to carry the amount of strength Artemis has as my own.

After all that happened in S2, it was amazing to see Artemis come back to the team and train the new generation. It must have been hard to walk away from a safe, comfortable life for a chaotic, dangerous life. I admire that in everyone, but I hold more respect for Artemis since “the life” “killed” Wally. I wanted to hug her so bad.

She’s also one of the kindest people in the show, the events in S3 being the best example. When Zatanna was crying about her dad, Artemis was there to comfort her. It was so sweet! Roy and her also took in Halo and Terra like they were a part of the family; the archer treated them like the best big sister. That rainstorm scene was heartwarming to the core.

Wouldn’t Artemis be an amazing mother? Lian and her have a strong bond like a mother and daughter; I loved it, and Lian is in good hands with Roy and Artemis. Though Jade deserves a chance to be a mother. Artemis also seemed to enjoy taking care of those kids in that S1 episode. Wally too. You guys know what I’m guys insinuating. 😉

Get ready for some fanfics on that someday.

My favorite Artemis-centered episode was the second to last episode of S3. I was waiting for this episode centering around Artemis missing Wally and learning to move on. It was great yet heartbreaking. Nothing bad happened. That Will and Artemis kiss never happened. Everyone makes a mistake. No matter how terrible it was.

Anyway, seeing Artemis and Wally living their lives and having a baby gave me life, even if it was fake. It was a vision of the future. I will believe this until there is confirmation that Wally will not come back.

Did anyone else cry when Artemis was so desperate to, but Wally wouldn’t let that happen (the real Wally would do that)? They are a great example of a healthy relationship with all the love and support they have for each other. I want that.

which georgia is the shortest. and follow-up, which is the tallest, and which is the exact median

hi! thank you for putting me through everything you just put me through this morning! after looking around and compiling a more-or-less comprehensive height chart for the atlantis georgias, i think i am finally equipped to answer this.

so the shortest georgias player is probably gita biscuits, who is a large flock of seagulls. a quick search tells me seagulls are on average between 8 and 15 inches tall, but i'm gonna be bold and say that given there are currently 1,288 birds in the flock, at least one of them gotta be a bit taller. so i'm going 1'5" for gita biscuits' height, however you calculate that.

you can also stack all the seagulls on top of each other and make gita biscuits the tallest of the georgias but i don't know how you'd do that.

the tallest atlantis georgias player is montgomery bullock, who is the entirety of montgomery county, maryland. another quick search shows that the highest point in montgomery county is roughly 880 feet above sea level, meaning that i guess monty is that tall? montgomery bullock always proves to be a weird edge case when i'm doing literally anything with all the atlantis georgias, as it turns out. i know crabs recently designed a version of montgomery that's some crocodilian guy but i know nothing about that version so sorry!

both of these players i think are obvious outliers, so i think it's appropriate to look at the next shortest and next tallest players as well. rigby friedrich, despite being an absolute menace, is a measley 4 feet tall, which does not at all impair his ability to slay gods. sosa hayes might also be an outlier since he is secretly three kids stacked in a trenchcoat (don't tell anyone i said that). i'd imagine each kid is roughly five feet tall but together they're like, twelve feet tall. (obviously they aren't standing immediately on the heads of one another). if we don't count sosa either, then yurts buttercup takes the award for tallest georgia at roughly 7'6".

the median is the part that sucked, as it forced me to figure out the height of literally everyone that has ever played for the atlantis georgias ever. after a whole lot of consultation, i put together a list i am mostly satisfied with that has jan canberra as the median, tied with dickerson morse and cote loveless II. they're all 5'8", which yeah, is a pretty average height so i can definitely work with it!

apart from those players, geraldine frost may also be an outlier as she is an ice elemental who can regularly change her height, though she usually falls somewhere in the six foot range.

Catgirl was sitting in front of her godfather Batman and spoke to him in sign language. He was listening to her explanation of why she won't talk about her grandmother's powers, the Lucky Girl was half alien and was a magic user. The Dark Knight held his hand up, which made the young girl stop immediately and nodded with an understanding look.

Batman knew her mother and father so well. His friends were loyal and nice to him that they let him hold their daughter, who's sitting on a chair in front of him at a conference room. The billionaire playboy was the first person who saw the symptoms and kept a sharp eye on his godchild, because Catgirl was staying silent about her pain.

"Eva, it's not good for you to hide your powers away and contain them against your will. That inhibitor collar has to come off your neck or they'll be no missions for you anymore, you're hurting yourself and not trusting what you can do. They saw how you can use magic, but this is what made you special and unique like your mother. Let me see your left arm," the Lucky Girl was hesitant and complies, rolling her long sleeve to reveal that the transformation has begun due to negative feelings and emotions. "I do truly appreciate your decisions of getting therapy from Dinah, yet you're still hiding yourself from the Team and not letting them have their pain back Eva. Your mother and her family was excellent help to you...just trust me on this and stop doubting yourself. Your insecurities will haunt you for the rest of your life if you don't tell the Team why you haven't been doing missions with them since wearing the Mask of Destiny and Helmet of Fate...please for the sake of your loved ones. We'll always love you for how caring, kind, loyal, and supportive you've been with all of us...including me."

Catgirl hugs him after pulling her sleeve down and covering the proof. Batman pats her back as she begins silently crying and sobbing. The Dark Knight let her break down into tears and hide her face from the view of Justice League members, who were part of the meeting about the Lucky Girl.

Once the meeting was over, Batman held her hand in his and ruffles her hair. Catgirl smiles sadly up at her godfather and nods. He lets her go back to Mount Justice and hears her designation number being called out.

"Bruce, I know you're worried about her like I am, that's why she got us and the rest." The Dark Knight sighs and hugs his best friend Astro Woman. "We gotta hope for the best and pray nothing bad happens over in the mountain, especially when Wally tends to surprise her the most."

Catgirl walks through the Boom Tube with her bag on her back and tired eyes. Her platinum white wig was miraculously stuck in a high ponytail and her matte black lipstick wasn't stained around her soft lips. The Team heard their teammate walking and saw the Lucky Girl still exhausted from last mission, which almost cost her life.

"Hey Cat, how's your meeting at the Hall of Justice?" Catgirl grumbled softly underneath her breath and tiredly plops onto Wonder Girl, who caught the Lucky Girl on time.

"You want me to carry you to your room Kitty?" The Lucky Girl nodded quietly and clung onto the female demigod's front.

Wonder Girl carries her back into her bedroom and gently set the younger girl onto her bed. Catgirl hums in appreciation and purrs softly as the Amazon warrior pets her head, coaxing her to fall asleep hard. As soon as Wonder Girl heard soft snores and deep breathing from the Lucky Girl, she smiles and puts a blanket over the young girl.

The female demigod carefully left the room and closed the door. Wonder Girl heads back to the lounge, raising an eyebrow at her boyfriend Aqualad and shaking her head no with a deep frown. The Atlantean soldier understood that look and knew it meant there's something wrong with their youngest member.

Ever since the Team was formed...Catgirl was the first heroine to be part of it, she lived in the mountain and was always doing her work at her bedroom due to personal spacing. The Lucky Girl got used to the Boy of Steel and would be his support system whenever he's having problems with Superman, which shocked the Justice League cause the young mute girl rarely let people rather than them and Red Arrow be close to her. The rest of the original members in the Team will treat her like a baby and always adore Catgirl for being independent.

For example...the Team came back wounded and hurt, she sprung from her chair in front of the Super Computer and took them to med bay. Wonder Girl managed to heal herself and helped the Lucky Girl with treating their comrades, though an appreciative comment from the Boy Wonder threw Catgirl's brain off so quick that she went redder than a strawberry. The three teenage girls never stopped pinching her rosy cheeks since that incident, what got the Lucky Girl on her feet and running away into her hiding places from the trio will be the words "DRESS-UP", and all four boys will chuckle from how the mute girl showed fear for the first time.

"Is Cat okay?" Superboy asked the female demigod, worrying about the mute girl who became a baby sister to him.

"The League took her to an important conference meeting this morning, based on her reaction...they wore her out." Robin answered for the Boy of Steel.

"Roy did claim to me that Cat's been keeping a secret from us, he thinks she's the mole...but seriously? If she was the traitor, how come she'll always return back in the mountain stressed out and exhausted? That's the most dumbest thing I'd ever heard," the Amazon warrior explained to them.

"Unless...we could...you know," the teenage speedster suggested, earning raised eyebrows and confused looks until they realize what Kid Flash was trying to suggest.

"Baywatch, Cat will never forgive us if we do that. That's her private diary, it has her personal life in it." Artemis told him, smacking him upside his head.

"First off...Ow! Secondly, don't act like you wanna know what she writes in it." Robin nodded in agreement and the rest was hesitant, but they finally agreed to their plan. "Now who's getting it and the key?"

The Team said "NOT IT" at different times, Robin groans in defeat s the rest gave him pointed looks and the Boy Wonder does the deed. He slowly hacks into the room and slides the door open, seeing the Lucky Girl curled up asleep in a tiny ball. Robin smiles and quietly awes at his crush's cuteness.

'Alright Robin, it's just a book. My crush's book of secrets, it can't be that bad.' The Boy Wonder thought as he sneakily took her book case with the key and leaves the dark bedroom without being noticed. 'Cat must be dead asleep from that meeting with our mentors, poor little kitten must be tired from all those mission reports as well to stack that much stress on her body.'

Robin silently closes the door and resets the password to her grandma's name. Kid Flash immediately takes his best friend to the living room and they high-five with proud grins on their faces. The Team sat down on their chosen spots as Miss Martian takes the book and opens the case with the key.

"This is so wrong in so many levels guys," the female archer said while seeing the front cover has a picture of her with the Team on it. "She got us on the front and the back...let's hurry and agree not to do this anymore."

The female Martian takes the personal book out from the case and sets the diamond box down. Catgirl's private diary was themed with black words, gray covers, white paper, and silver lining. Miss Martian gulps nervously and passes the book to Wonder Girl, who gave her best friend a wide-eyed look of disbelief.

"M'gann," the female demigod said with an offended look. "How could you? I'm not dying in the hands of a twelve year old girl...here Rob, you read it."

The Boy Wonder pouts at Wonder Girl and opens the book. Robin begins reading it out loud to his comrades, blushing when he finds out Catgirl got a crush on him and saw many insecure thoughts she has about herself. Red Arrow was wrong about the Lucky Girl, but they were beginning to feel concern on the mute girl's issues and problems.

"Ever since the League found out what was happening to me within the Helmet of Fate, I've been contacting my grandfather Kent through Nabu with my grandma's help and assistance with the Mask of Destiny. All the stress, fear, and pain was causing negative reactions to my powers and humanity. My father fixed one of those problems...that golden collar on my neck, it was containing my alien side from losing control and it sorta helped me. After twelve years of it on my neck, it's not working and was making it worse. The Team are starting to see signs of it, I've lost my appetite with food last week, I couldn't get sleep since a few months ago, and becoming much sensitive with my emotions on a daily basis that Batman forced me into therapy sessions with Black Canary. I'm afraid of the rejection and betrayal the people I cared the most think of me. There's five stages of it, I went through four of them, the fifth one will be most painful one cause this will damage me inside out and turn me into a monstrous freak. I got many anxiety attacks and went into panic mode during the meeting. I'm not relieved from it, not because my grandmother injected me with my painkillers and antidepressants...I had almost hurt the League. I know they're scared of me...who won't? After all, I'm nothing but a burden and a monster. Nobody can change that, not even the Team...I should probably run away and never return to Earth after tomorrow night when everyone's asleep. They won't be hurt anymore...especially when I'm gone far away from my grandmother's home planet." Robin read, closing it and putting it inside the black box.

The Boy Wonder locked the box shut and hung the key back onto its hook behind the case. Robin got up from his spot and walks to his crush's room. The Team watches their youngest male teammate slowly opens the door and sees that Catgirl was still resting.

Kid Flash ushers Robin out of the room and freezes when the Lucky Girl moves in her sleep. The rest drags the two boys out from her room before letting Superboy close the door shut and hearing it lock itself automatically. The Team frowns sadly as they stared at Catgirl's bedroom door and felt guilty for how they assumed that she's the mole.

The next day inside the mountain, Catgirl wakes up and does her daily routine before taking her prescribed medication. The Lucky Girl rolls up her long sleeves and gasps silently when she sees it got worse than ever from the nightmarish thoughts echoing her head. The mute girl takes a deep breath and hides the proof from view.

"Kitty, are you up yet?" Wonder Girl asked the Lucky Girl.

The young child quickly grabs her baggy jacket and a pair of black sweatpants to conceal how her casual clothes she loves wearing the most have vanished. Catgirl puts on her wig and applied her makeup before putting on her shades. The Lucky Girl heads out of her room with her bag strapped on her back with her diary case hidden inside it and walks to the kitchen for some fruit.

Once she found a green apple, the Black Cat vigilante took a bite from it and passes her teammates with a greeting wave. Catgirl pets Wolf and rubs Sphere gently with a softened look while going outside to the beach. The Lucky Girl begins absorbing some solar energy and feeling it generate some pure cosmic mana for her to devour by consuming the life-force phoenix within her inner self.

Inside the mountain, Robin begun hacking into the cameras and managed to get full access to the beach's ones. The Team watched Catgirl meditate by herself on a large rock and levitating, which made them shocked cause they thought it was all something she wrote behind their backs. The Lucky Girl used her mana to grab a bottle of nectar and drank the liquid, humming in content while she takes pure magic energy from the Sun and use the life-force from the Moon to try fixing her issues.

"Everything in that book was true, she does have powers." Kid Flash said.

The seven heroes noticed something glowing from her left side, the Team gasps in disbelied when Catgirl rolls up her long sleeves to reveal that her right arm was scarred and her left arm was encased with some kind of cosmic ice mana. They continued seeing the Lucky Girl getting distressed and on high alert. The mute girl begun taking deep breaths and slowly tries to calm down.

"That was her secret," their leader told them after understanding why she wore long sleeves and anything baggy.

"Recognize: Catgirl; B-0-0."

The Team froze to hear their beloved comrade's designation number called out by the Super Computer and knew she's behind them now. Wonder Girl slowly turns and sees Catgirl, who was looking scared and was actually frightened. The rest followed and knew by her scared expression that the Lucky Girl was caught red-handed.

"Cat, it's not what it looks like. We're worried about you," the Lucky Girl immediately flinches when Superboy takes a step forward and tries not to lose her composure.

"What was that on your arm?" Catgirl shook her head no while backing away and panting with a horrified look on her face.

"We're not gonna hurt you Kitty, we wanna help you get through this...just trust us okay?" Wonder Girl told her, following the mute girl and walking closer to the young child's personal space.

'Get away Opal, stay away from me.' Catgirl thought while shaking like crazy and trying not to lose control of her powers. 'Stay away from me, stay away from me, stay away from me...'

The Team could see that Catgirl was sweating from the fear and discomfort while she cuffs her hands together to keep her powers in check. The Lucky Girl's inner self was trying their best with her host and attempting to comfort the mute girl from the tension. As soon as Wonder Girl got closer, their six comrades grew concerned and wait for the next move.

"I said...STAY...AWAY...FROM ME!!!" An energy wave of mana was shot through her hands and hit Wonder Girl hard along with their loved ones, who groaned in pain from the magic blast.

'I hurt them,' the Lucky Girl thought with fear and guilt. 'I really am a monster...'

Robin watches Catgirl rushes into the Boom Tube through blurry eyes, hearing her call number and passing out with his six best friends. The Lucky Girl made it to her stop at the nearest subway station and luckily got herself a ticket. She sat down on the bench and wait for her subway train to come.

"Excuse me miss," the Lucky Girl turned to see some little kids and gave them a wave. "Do you got some food and water for us?"

Catgirl nodded, she begun taking out some sandwiches and bottles of water from her duffle bag. The kids thanked the mute girl and hugged her, which she responded with a pat on their backs and ruffling the hair on their heads. The Lucky Girl got her violin and thought about something to do for the children.

The selectively mute girl put her duffle bag to the side with a protective mana shield around it and stood on the bench. Catgirl thought about the hard times and good memories she have with the Team. The Lucky Girl takes a deep breath and begins playing her song.

Once the song ended, the people surrounding her applauded for her performance and put some money into her backpack. Catgirl bows for the crowd and hands some candy to the children, who cheered for her generous gifts to them. The Lucky Girl put her violin back in its case and heard her train number.

'Great, Raven and the rest are going after me too.' Catgirl thought as she heard her crow cawing ring tone for Raven, hanging up and setting her phone on silent mode.

Meanwhile near New York City, the Team couldn't find their Black Cat and won't give up searching for the mute girl. Catgirl's icy aura left some trails that leads to her and the seven sidekicks followed them to reach the fixed subway station underground at Manhattan. The Lucky Girl must've gotten down there for a train ticket and go somewhere else.

Around Broadway, Catgirl stepped onto her destination and gave a sincere smile to the people who helped her with her things. The Lucky Girl walked upstairs and saw the lights in amazement. The mute girl was relieved that her clothes she wore was back in her bag, but her gym clothes was affected by the transformation and was worrying her a lot.

The transformation was almost done, Catgirl got until midnight and the pain will fade from her body by replacing it with euphoria. Her inner alien side was keeping her stable from the toxicity of every environment and person she walks into by accident. The Lucky Girl tightens her cloak and vanishes into the shadows of night.

"Cat? Cat, where are you? Please come back home, we miss you." The Lucky Girl froze to hear the worry and saw the concerns of the Team's faces.

Catgirl gulps while looking at the mirror, seeing that it was getting darker and the metamorphosis was getting close to completion. She checks her watch and went scared...it was around eleven fifty-five at night, which meant her travel through New York City and its famous place must've been lasting longer than a hour. Catgirl kept her breaths silent and her heart couldn't stop beating like crazy.

The Lucky Girl suddenly shivers from the cold air and tries not to sneeze, which will trigger Superboy into finding her first. She held back the noise while sneaking away and going between a billboard. Catgirl sighs in relief until she lets out a sneeze, which sounds soft and cute like a kitten.

The Cadmus clone heard Catgirl's adorable sneeze, freezing and snapping his head at the billlboard. His six teammates followed his glance to the billboard where they were having a music award show and realized that she was in Broadway. Catgirl begun panicking with distress while her ice mana went into waves of energy and kept glowing bright like the stars in the sky.

"Kitty, please...for everyone's sake, just show yourself and we'll take you home...safe and sound." Catgirl scoffed from Wonder Girl's words in response, she sees a clear opening and takes a deep breath. "Cat...I don't wanna chase you all through morning, it's Saturday now and all I wanna do now...is sleep."

Catgirl's black pupils turned into slits and she let her transformation consume her completely after hearing her watch beep, signaling that it has struck midnight. The Lucky Girl starts flying in the air and the Team begun chasing her. Catgirl dodged the signs and construct some cold mana to block her loved ones from grabbing her.

The mute girl found herself flying to Central Park and hiding inside one of the cherry blossom trees, shifting into a white cat with blue eyes and black collar that has a silver bell on it. The Team reached there, they didn't see her use her witch arts to turn into a cat and climb up the blooming tree. Robin and Artemis saw ice footprints of a cat leading up to the tree they saw in front of them.

"Cat, please come down." Robin said, desperately begging for his crush to come down the tree.

"No! Go away!" Catgirl replied, refusing to come down and face her fifteen loved ones. "Y'all went through my book and spied on me to see my secret! I just wanna be left alone...like I'm always been."

The Boy Wonder begun climbing up the tree, seeing Catgirl as a domestic white feline heal herself with her mana to close the scars and burns away. Robin sees the burns on the cloak and knew they accidentally hurt her during their chase, which led to her using her magic for a portal as a transportation route to Central Park. Not only that, Catgirl took off the cloak and left it behind after it made her feel uncomfortable.

He kept his eyes alert while she shifts out of that form and reveals something...beautiful. The Lucky Girl was looking extraordinary within her final alien form and was trying not to have another anxiety attack. Catgirl felt a familiar presence close to her space, which meant her crush and destined mate have found her.

The younger vigilante slowly turns and grew scared to see Robin staring at her form. She saw his hand reaching out for her and flinches out of fear. The Boy Wonder shushes her soft whimpers as he pulls her in a hug and she breaks down into tears.

"Shhh, it's okay Cat, we're not hurt, you're not alone." Robin said, comforting the Lucky Girl as she hiccups and sobs in his chest. "We're sorry for what we've done...please, just come home with us."

Catgirl closes her eyes and lets the Boy Wonder carry her out of the cherry blossom tree. The rest of the Team freezes to see the Lucky Girl went through her final transformation and became her true form. Robin cradles her close while she cries softly in his chest and clung onto him tight.

Catgirl slowly relaxes and turns to face the Team with her head down. When she raises her head up, Miss Martian was shocked to see an Anodite for the very first time and realized that bedtime stories about that alien species from her uncle were true...the Lucky Girl was one of them. The female Martian walks over to the shy girl and hugs her tight, causing Catgirl to freeze with shock and accidentally release a wave of mana from her body that made the rest of the Team relaxed.

'Oh you poor little thing,' the female Martian said to Catgirl in a telepathic link while holding Catgirl.

'Why M'gann,' the Lucky Girl whined while blushing and hugging her back. 'Conner, help me...she won't let me go now.'

Superboy joins the hug with the rest of their friends, Catgirl pouts at the alien couple in betrayal for their friendly affections on her and how it spread towards them. The Lucky Girl's inner felt the trust and safety within all fifteen sidekicks, leading for the shy girl to close her eyes in content. As soon as the Team pulled away, Catgirl opens her eyes and felt somebody holding her hand in theirs.

Robin squeezes it in reassurance before kissing her forehead and she squeaks, flustering madly while the rest smiles at the two vigilantes. Catgirl crosses her arms and grew a bit confident. The Boy Wonder sees the mischievous smile written on her lips and was suddenly floating around her cyan mana hair, staring at his crush in amazement for pulling that trick while their loved ones watched the two from above.

"You're beautiful Cat, I wish I could've help you with your pain." Robin told her softly while she hugs him and hums with a bright grin on his face.

"You and the Team did that, I can actually sense the genuine worry and concern y'all have for me. I finally realized that I wasn't alone anymore, I have all of you...especially you pretty bird." Catgirl replied before kissing him passionately and smiling when Robin kisses her back.

The two pulled away as the Lucky Girl helped them both safely on lower ground and smiled at each other, chuckling at the romantic scenario with amusement. Robin was about to kiss her again when Kid Flash cheekily takes Catgirl and zooms away from his best friend. The Boy Wonder gawks at the speedster in shock as he storms after him and tries to grab his Black Cat back.

"Did you get your picture now Artie?" Artemis nodded with a victorious smirk and sends it to Roy with the money signs on it.

"Told that jerk Robin will be her first kiss, he lost big time." Her four comrades chuckled before heading into the Bio-Ship with their female archer.

Robin came back with Catgirl over his shoulder and back in her human form at last, setting her down by his side. Kid Flash sped up and went in the ship next. The two vigilantes smile before stepping into there and holding hands together...as a young couple.

Gem AU, Supergirl-specific characters edition

(for the “Day 4: Alternate Universe” prompt of Farewell to Supergirl week)

Our heroes/the Super-friends/etc:

Supergirl/Kara Zor-El/Kara Danvers (Facet K4R4 20R-3L, Cut 59): Kyanite, weapon: glaive. This doesn’t change from my original concept of her when I first did the Gem Legion AU, I think I’d have her just be a regular Gem who was stuck in space for a while (something something malfunctioning warp pad, or her ship was knocked off-course and she couldn’t find her way to Earth) before arriving and being found by the Danvers. Because she can’t really hide her non-humanness, secret identity isn’t an issue here, but she does become more human and get used to a human-ish life, learning to love humans and human society, in addition to fighting for them with her Gem powers.

Alex: human, but picks up/learns to fight with Gem technology. I think her and James and Kelly all kind of share the Connie role? like all 3 of them want to help and protect the Earth, and learn to fight alongside their super-powered friends, in addition to having their own skills.

Hank Henshaw/J’onn J’onnz- Oolitic Jasper (weapon- Sword of Mars, because why would you not). I’m thinking he’s probably most like how he was in season 4, and the Tower is basically this AU’s version of the gem temple that Steven and the Crystal Gems live in.

Megan Morse/M’Gann M’orrz- Smoky Quartz (weapon- kite shield) Her backstory is pretty easy to transfer here! I feel like nothing much would change, she’d still be some kind of former prison guard and defect to save someone’s life, then come to Earth and eventually find a friendship with J’onn and the others.

Winn Schott Jr.- okay I did describe him originally as “not-shitty Ronaldo”, like maybe his mom runs a toy store that his dad originally opened and he’s come up with all kinds of conspiracy theories about the Gems? but he never once imagined being friends with them until meeting Kara.

gosh. given that there is also a human in the SU... universe that ends up flying around in a spaceship with Gems, and what Winn’s fate ultimately is, does he become a combination of Ronaldo and Lars? I’m not sure.

Cat, even though she lives in a small town, still has her media thing going, and reports all the time on the goings-on of the Gem Legion, especially Kyanite/Kara, who is pretty much her favorite and so smart and so talented and has such potential. Kara doesn’t work for her here, but she still admires her a whole lot and they inspire each other I think.

Mon-El- Aquamarine, weapon- partizan. The original concept I had for him came about near the end of season 2 and was very mean-spirited, and I apologize. But I think it would still be possible for his story to happen here, like another Gem who’s been isolated for a long time (and coming from a very privileged/looking-down-on-others background) coming to Earth and learning to become a better person, inspired to lead his own little group of Gems somewhere else.

Speaking of which!

Imra- Rhodonite, weapon- chakram. I did originally have her down as a Pink Topaz, but since topazes are depicted differently in SU canon, I decided to change that, and thought rhodonite fit well with her costume/aesthetic in season 3. Anyway I feel like there isn’t much different about her either? she’d probably have a “little sister”/another Gem who was created in the same place she was that she considers family, until that Gem and others start getting corrupted on a large scale because reasons, which prompts her and Mon-El and Brainy to go to Earth (like they’d be on another planet at that time, but Mon-El would know about Earth)

and to round out the Legion that we see, Brainy is a Peridot because of course he is. But he’s also an Off-Color! I’m not exactly sure how I’d do the inhibitors thing in this universe, but he’d definitely look different from other Peridots (although he’d hide that) and after joining Mon-El and his group, he’d act different from them too. I feel like the “family bottling planets” thing would also be very easy to translate to this AU, although maybe another method than actually literally shrinking them and putting them in bottles. But the same kind of vibe for sure. His “weapon” is Gem technology.

I think Nia’s basically our Steven-type character, not literally a child but the one who definitely learns more about who she is and what she can do as time goes on. She’d be half White Sapphire, for reasons. Or maybe just regular Sapphire? Definitely one or the other, that kind of gem. Her and Maeve are probably half-sisters here, same father but different mothers.

Villains/Other

Originally, I had Astra and Alura be Blue and Pink Diamonds respectively, and I don’t know how well that works now? I’ll think more about this later.

The Adventures of Supergirl villains I came up with ideas for-

Facet Jens- Moissanite (loyally served Alura’s equivalent, travels to Earth to make Kara more like one of her court. Bonus points for pretty much coming from a Gem-like species in the comics)

Vril Dox II- Green Jasper (ends up bubbled, I do not remember much about him. probably from the same planet this version of Peridot was created on)

Psi- Dream Quartz (more based on the one we saw in season 3. can speak to people through their dreams/manipulate dreams, has powerful psychic abilities that she uses most prominently to bring out her victim’s darkest fears. A thief, mostly. Although Kara doesn’t beat her at first.)

Rampage- Crackled Fire Agate (helps Alex and others fight corrupted Gems)

The Worldkillers are definitely all Agates as well (because, as the song says, “An Agate terrifies”), I think I originally had Reign as Black Agate, Purity as Turritella Agate, and Pestilence as Blue Agate.

in that post I also had Non as a Blue Pearl, Indigo as a Yellow Spinel, and Rhea and Lar Gand as Platinum and Silver respectively. Although I think I’d maybe want to make Indigo a real evil Lapis Lazuli instead.

OH NO I FORGOT ABOUT MYRIAD BEING THE CLUSTER

anyway Myriad is basically the Cluster in this AU, it’s not a mass mind-control device in how it was used in the season 1 finale but it does involve a bunch of minds being forcibly brought together and a lot of destruction.

also I did fully forget Lena in this AU. anyway I think she’d probably be the mayor’s daughter here? I’m not sure what I’d do with Lex
