Over the last few weeks, I ended up making another set of Mechanisms dolls. They're each about four inches tall or less, squishy, and made with love. I'm raffling them off, since I don't need another Mechs crew on my desk, and I thought it'd be fun.
The form will be open until the end of the day on June 3. It's free to enter, and I am accepting international addresses. I'll throw some pictures of the dolls under the cut. If you've got any questions, don't hesitate to ask. Have fun, and good luck!
Finally built the squad captain of my growing Mecha army.
I call him "Captain Theseus" because his mech is built from the all the 'trophies' he's collected in battle. His mech is more recycled scrap than original parts.
Super proud of how he turned out. It was fun to add a lot of little metal plates and painting those hotrod flames on his side.
Plus his "Scrap Sword" came out great.
I also built another basic mech, this one with a rifle, mortar launcher and shield. Very classic Gundam.
Lancer npcs, simple paint job just tac-display green & black. Relativistically displaced Sec-Com soldiers, two armies that both see themselves as the good guys fighting to liberate humanity. Obviously for the bigger bad guys I'm going to paint the suits dark blue, black and yellow, that's just how that works. Suits are from Crimson Steel Merchworks on myminifactory.
it's way too late and i'm going insane thinking about the mechs again but what if the reason Fort Galfridian never had contact from the outside is because it was once a part of the Yggdrasil system, and once Yog'sothoth came, all hope of Galfridian being sent aid vanished??
okay y'all know i'm ever so very normal about @rainbowstargazerlilies ' beautiful fic series the stars claim them (that is now longer than lotr AND the hobbit combined!) so i bring you:
IRL BARON VON DUCK
duck amigurumi crochet pattern used is this one and the rest was me winging it and desperately hoping it worked lmao
also yes his monocle goggle is a barbie button. he slays
it's too blue for the mechs it is really too bright but like im doing my best here ... when you cant buy jackshit of the mechanisms you MAKE jackshit of the mechanisms.
painting on a tote bag with acrylic is hard and i need to get better . i should not have made horse anatomy the first thing i've ever painted on a tote bag.
Okay but I do have thoughts here...war mage mech pilot au. Like especially if it's an alternative to prison for their war crimes. They're already trained, already used to impossible strain and the intensity of fighting for your life. They'd be ostracized anyway by their peers because of their notoriety. They learn the agony of having limbs torn from them, time after time, and reconciling that with still being able to cup a bowl of soup in two hands afterwards.
But they're free, sort of.
They pay their penance in blood and tears and tests and being lauded as monstrous heroes, in being forced to become something somehow even less human than what they already had been. They still have each other. They are impossible figures, mythical almost in how they turned from committing horrors to becoming guardians of humanity.
They aren't sure that they wanted this, but they can't go back now. They've seen the records of the failed test pilot casualties. No one else could do this so now it falls to them.
She’s done!! I am not a swords guy but I looked at a lot of pictures and told myself it didn’t need to be perfect, just give off the right vibes. And she can hold it!!
I’m not a big doll modder so I’m proud of how she turned out. Let’s be honest I was mostly in it for the arm and the arm rocks.
(Her journey is on here under #doll mods if you’d like to see her various stages.)
Currently waiting on supplies to maybe do a knit doll for Raphaella's DTTM outfit! Out of curiosity, are there other less well-represented or fandom-created Mechs outfits that would be similarly cool to see? The only things that came to mind for me were the halloween outfit swap and the ever-popular Persephone Tim.
A side effect of getting into digimon is that it’s like. Really made me appreciate Mechas more and robot designs? Combined as well with reading comics like Atomic Robo and then last week watching bang brave bang Bravern. For years my interactions with mecha media was like, Trying to force myself to enjoy transformers, and unfortunately I just don’t think it’s a media franchise for me and it really stifled my ability to enjoy mecha as a genre because of trying to pigeonhole into that. I suppose this is a very roundabout way to say that if anyone has any mecha recommendations hit an ant up about this. And that I've also started getting into gunpla/mecha model kit building- I've made two so far (: and I have another kit I'd like to make soon. If you wanna see pics send me an ask and ill dm them
