After breakfast, Claire finally addressed the elephant in the room "I was thinking, maybe we should see other people. You've been physically distant lately and I'm feeling smothered emotionally," Claire blurted out, stabbing a piece of fruit with her fork. Jessica 's heart sunk deep into her hollow chest. "Oh, but I can change for you. I guess I’ve just been feeling... disconnected lately. Because this actually, isn't working for me anymore either," she lied, repressing the tears welling up in her eyes. Claire sighed and set down her fork. "I'm not sure what to tell you. I love you, but I need more. We should take a break, see what we find. Maybe you need to figure some things out."With that, Claire picked up her things and left the room, leaving Jessica alone with her dreaded thoughts once again. The future stretched out before her, bleak and uncertain. She wanted to feel something, anything, but the emptiness consumed her. Jessica curled up on the floor, crying until she fell into a restless sleep, wondering if things would ever change.
