Is there a post you've made about why komaeda and mikan together is toxic or can you explain what you mean by the patient/doctor thing? I don't ship it I just also don't know why it would be bad

so i’ve gotten some good input from other anons before on why this doctor/patient dynamic is a terrible idea. komamiki can only be healthy if they gradually come to see each other as equals - if you’ve gone through mikan’s FTEs, youd see why mikan having a romantic partner medically dependent on her is. a recipe for disaster lol. ESPECIALLY since we are talking about pairing mikan with The terminally ill (x2! cancer and dementia!) character. he’d be so heavily reliant on her just for basic quality of life and it would become so ugly SO quick. mikan’s desire for control + komaeda’s belief in his inherent inferiority to the ultimates = bad bad bad bad.

also. just talking about doctor/patient dynamics in general. like this is a thing in the medical world that you Cannot operate on a loved one like imagine having to do an extremely intricate heart surgery on like your mom or something and you botch it like her own kid fucked her up for life thats Gonna Get Messy. and in therapy too im pretty sure it’s against the code to date a client because again. you shouldnt be dependent on a partner to heal. it’s just professionalism

point three. that is a gay man and a lesbian 👍 and also they kind of just straight up hate each other. you saw chapter 3 (‘oh ko but mikan was despaired thats why they hated each other’ no. she was sick of his bullshit.) in the anime he straight up knocks her to the ground to get to makoto. Theyre Beefing and not in the cool enemies to lovers tension way they just. Clash. personality wise

anyways I’ve said this before and i’ll say it again. the ugliness of their dynamic has the potential to be very interesting to explore (platonically. for me. see point three). there’s undeniably an understanding of each other’s minds between the two (after trial 3 when mikan’s like ‘you dont understand? is that because youve never been loved? i feel sorry for you’) theyre people who have both lived loveless lives, they see that in each other. and, in this case, mikan uses this understanding as a way to attack komaeda on a deeply personal level. because She Gets It too.

the issue is when shippers try to masquerade them as able to be healthy right off the bat and ignore all of these blaring red flags when examining these blaring red flags is. literally The thing that makes them interesting. it’s so watered down and Heterosexual its. ugh. Blehhhhh.

Acolyte Final Thoughts

Now that Acolyte is finished I thought I would do a round-up of my thoughts on the series for my own sake :)

Plu, Acolyte has come onto my screen during a very tumultuous time in my life and I am overall just thankful to have good story as a distraction! The fact I get to not think about anything except lightsabers is a welcome change and one I'm very greatful for.

Spoilers!

Things I love:

The fights: HELLLO? Oh man I love a good battle and I love a good explosion. There was so many gorgeous lightsabers. I loved the super cool stuff like Jecki double wielding against the The Stanger, every time Sol did anything with a blade, and definitely Jacinto's arms I mean wielding sorry. There was just so much talent that went into each battle making even the corniest slow-mo cool.

Many Jacinto, Amandla Stenberg x2, and Lee Jung-jae: The acting of these 3 in particular blew me away. Stenberg ATE with their lines for both Mae and Osha. And the emotional journey JJ went on was so raw. I'm now tempted to watch everything he have ever been in. And then Jacinto just ended up being a scene stealer everytime he was on. Nothing but respect for the casting team.

The Lighting: I could see EVERYTHING! What a novel idea! Also the lightsabers gave off such gorgeous light in the perfect moments.

Jecki: She's for the girlies I don't make the rules. She filled the Omgea sized whole in my heart.

Costumes: Textures? Yes pls. Also everything was tailored so well I could'nt help but notice.

The Coven: I love when SWs is spooky and they gave us spooky with this coven. I was werid and dark and I loved it.

The Stranger/Qimir/Darth Teeth: My biggest suprise for the season. I honostly have'nt had a villian I have been scared of in a long time, but I got majorly scared when he showed up and started rampaging. And then switch to like, "ok he's sexy now?" and "ok he's evil but has feelings?" was so much fun.

Things I did'nt love:

Vernestra: I'm a books fan so I knew Vern before this all and I wish I just got somthing *more* from her. She's so cool on paper and I wish either more emphasis was placed on her side plot or, she was given more instresing character or things to do. She had more screen time than charaters like Jecki or Yord and I know them so much better than Vern.

Jumping Planet to Planet: This is just a pet-peeve of mine. I wished they either moved around all the time or stayed in one place. I hate this in between they got going on. It was mostly in the later half of the season tho

Pacing/Episode Length: This is not a new complaint but still it just did'nt really flow well for me. I feel like they should've started with the 1st flashback, did the 2nd mid-season. And them end where they did. Just my 2 cents.

Overall: I'm a lesbian execpt for Sith-Manny-Jacinto. I'm adpoting Jecki. And Sol, honey, you were doomed by your own choices.

Equestria unbowed time again!!! This time I’m gonna vaguely summarize the timeline, mostly for myself, y’all are just my favorite little eavesdroppers

Anyways, obv. A quick introduction to like, the basic lore, it’s ancient pony times, it takes 6 unicorns to raise the moon/sun oops! Terrible sun curse kills a guy (opportune moment to have tangerine witness that) uh??? Idk maybe establish pony hierarchy? I guess that’s important too

The three main and why/how they become important to story; Tangerine earns her cutie mark and is put in prestigious magic school to become important sun raising unicorn, very cool👍 except not because “hey kid your special talent is to B a martyr” actually sucks. Falling light is basically raised to be part of the night court, awesome. Creeping vine (who I don’t think I’ve really mentioned yet?) anyways she’s raised in ordinary earth pony village, gets discovered as changeling and is chased off, she sets off to idk be with other changelings I guess lol.

Tangerine and light meet at the magic school by coincidence “are they lesbians are they best friends” nonsense ensues (spoilers, it’s lesbianism) vine is???? Idk doing spaghetti western stuff she’s the C plot okay.

Tangerine is now a wizard, oops!! Terrible sun curse almost kills one of the other wizards, tangerine hears the alicorn prophecy and is like “BazInGa! ☝️🤓 I’ll just make an alicorn” (this is fucking illegal, uh oh)

light is gay, that’s her deal at this point. Gay gay homo

Vine finds the other changelings, sympathizes with their whole situation of only needing love to persist yet being cast out, decides she’s gonna go talk to the big pony people for diplomacy reasons (this is very silly, those pony guys can’t even get their own acts together atp)

Tangerine starts going Frankenstein esque insane, is found out by authorities for the illegal ass magic she’s doing, like super illegal, death sentence kinda illegal. She’s pardoned though for being important on account of promising she’ll stop (spoilers, she doesn’t) light is trying to persuade tangerine into giving up on the creating an alicorn thing so they can be gay together

Vine tries an audience with the ponies and it goes pretty okay, awesome 👍 I’m sure it’ll keep being okay from here👍

Tangerine finds out about vines and is once again like “☝️🤓 BaZInGa!! I’ll take inspiration from the changeling and just change myself into an alicorn!! That’s WAY less illegal!” (It’s not) she convinces Vines to help her, this works because vines doesn’t know the law and thinks this is legal and good. Light fucks off to be gay elsewhere at this point, good for her

Tangerine fails at making herself an alicorn and has to hide that as long as possible, this is also where she realizes that she’s actually been gay this whole time, dang

Vines then immediately blows the secret because she wasn’t properly informed that it’s like super illegal, she is thrown in jail, this is bad for the changelings future, tangerine is going to find light so they can be gay together and miraculously evades arrest, light sees wanted posters of her waifu everywhere and is like “dang I guess”

Tangerine finds light, light is like “is that a police?? I’m calling the weed.” Tangerine finally convinces her to believe in the whole alicorn thing, vine gets let out of jail for promising to help capture tangerine

Tangerine and light are arrested, tangerine is sentenced to. Rock prison!! Yay!!

Tangerine is almost turnt into stone but like last minute enables cheats- I mean figures out the “make an alicorn” spell oh boy!!! Two baby alicorns!! Awesome! Evil pony who’s probably like, princess platinum or something idk yet is defeated, changeling + pony peace established (for now lol) tangerine and light are. Home of sexuals

i read your wips intro/masterpost, they all look super cool (!!!) but the status sections look like they haven’t been updated in awhile—any updates?

first of all, THANK YOU!!! means a lot whenever anyone checks out my posts! i have a tendency to forget this blog exists, which i can only blame partially on my being in school; i'm part of a thriving community of writing discord servers, and so i've gotten into the habit of sharing more writing there than here. also, from the bottom of my heart, i never have any idea what to post. so thank you x2 for asking for an update, because i can certainly do that!

in the order of the intro post, shall we? (which i have now updated, because it was bothering me.)

The Mortal Realm & Quark: "starting second draft summer 2021," he said (about the first). so that was a fucking lie. summer 2021 i spent working at a children's summer camp, which, while i love kids, sapped my sickly-victorian-boy strength like tuberculosis. and then i went off to college! so quark didn't happen in the fall, either.

both of these are on indefinite hiatus for now, but not shelved! as my oldest long-running projects and the ones that saw me through some specific parts of my life, they're very important to me, and i think about the characters and plots frequently. that said, i've grown a lot since i began each one, so some of my old plans no longer align with the sort of things i like to write now... both are probably due for a rehaul, and as i'm focused on other projects atm, i'm not sure when that will be! but they idle in the back of my brain like screensavers.

A Modern Tragedy: the scripts for AMT are entirely finished! (barring the intermission episode i never wrote, i suppose.) i wrote the last words and immediately encountered some issues, namely: i know how to write, but not how to record and produce a podcast. plus, a podcast-enjoying friend of mine who read the scripts pointed out that honestly, AMT has too many characters to work as an audio drama; i have written a TV show in audio form. and speaking of things i know how to do less than producing a podcast--producing a TV show. so at present i sort of just... have this. sitting on my computer. i've half a mind to just post the scripts on this blog; if you're interested in seeing them... you can certainly shoot me a dm.

darkling: this behemoth is fully drafted, goddamn it, and i did do a round of beta readers over summer 2021. that said, this thing scares me. i am far better at drafting than i am at editing, and approaching a 200,000 word book (yes. i know. i know) to rip the seams out and kick that word count into shape intimidates me. i think perhaps we should all be very mean to me until i acquiesce to sniffing the draft through the bathroom door (??? <- will being mean to me work? unclear)

Valentine van Velt is Dead: oh now this is ridiculous; have i really not updated the intro post in over a year? i suppose not. valentine van velt is out! i posted the book in full in google doc, pdf, and epub forms; you can read it right now today!

love, h: finally something on the intro post is true. this is still in brainstorming mode, less because i haven't figured it out and more because i need to enter another intense hamlet phase to be able to write it properly. it'll happen.

godsong: ah, and we approach the reason the rest of these projects haven't gotten done. my silly little lesbian aeneid is eating my brain. in the past year and a half, i have 1. plotted an entire trilogy 2. written a book and a half 3. spiraled into related AUs for literally over a hundred words. the problem with writing a project that combines multiple hyperfixations is that it will crawl into your brainstem and never ever ever ever leave you alone. ever.

...which is to say that i've written a godsong! i've completed a first draft of the first book and i'm currently drafting the second; i've learned that editing scares me and bogs me down, so i'm riding this hyperfocus as far as it'll take me before i do a beta-reading round. this may come as a shock, because i've posted very little about godsong compared to my other projects, and again, this is because i have no idea what to post. every now and then i get frightened about posting real excerpts, in case it somehow fucks me up copyright-wise. this is a largely irrational fear that i have anyhow. i'm dicking around trying to make character moodboards for intro posts, but i keep running into the moral quandary of whether i can knowingly use unsourced pinterest images, like, morally. unrelated, yeah i do have OCD, how did you know?

Really strange problem I'm having:

Our neighbours have their bedroom next to ours, and ... sometimes we can hear them have sexy times. The issue is that they're lesbians, which means it's just the high pitched voices, so I usually think at first that it's my daughter fussing in her room. 😂 They're moving soon though so at least when S moves to her own room I won't have to worry about that x2 lol.

okay but there really is something so malicious about how supernatural was allowed to acknowledge dean’s Intense Subtextually Gay Relationships With Men and how they’re Clearly Different From Sam’s Relationships With Those Same Men as long as it’s all directed at the other character. anyone and everyone was allowed to make cracks about cas and crowley being in love with dean for years on end but when dean admitted that his relationship with cas is different than sam’s--i lost cas and it damn near broke me--the line had to be cut. yeah these guys’ relationships with dean are different than their relationships with sam but it’s all because of them being the weird gay ones who insisted on falling in love with dean despite his valiant heterosexual effort to keep them at a platonic arm’s length. of course dean wasn’t allowed to reciprocate cas’ feelings or react to the confession or even be particularly nice to cas because if we acknowledge that dean is part of the reason deanandcas is so different from samandcas then we’re also acknowledging that the gay subtext isn’t just coming from cas but from dean too, which means we’re acknowledging the possibility that our all-american marlboro man action hero isn’t straight. and we can’t have that because it failed the market research
