I've seen a few posts about women and pants now and many of them are very good, and not to nitpick those posts or downplay religious sexism or anything, but I have to emphasise:

Somebody who DOESN'T live in a controlling religious country/cult/family is also affected by sexism. We all know that, right? Secular parts of the first world also have opinions about how women dress, including when it comes to trousers, especially in childhood and in institutions like schools and the workplace

Me and many people my age (20s) remember being forced into skirts, punished and shamed by parents & teachers & peers & possibly then bosses about what we wear not being feminine enough, and it wasn't by deeply religious sects. Many updates to dress codes are very new and sexist views are still in place in many institutions. Normalised societal misogyny wants women (and people they want to treat as women) to dress femininely, down to what KIND of pants they're allowed to wear (compare a pink top and jeggings to mens jeans and tell me these two women are treated the same. Hating women in pantsuits is still a sexist office joke today, and even those outfits are feminine compared to male suits, which raise eyebrows when worn by women). The women I know who wear trousers regularly are literally otherwise feminine, and all wear dresses to events.

I know trousers have become much more normalised over the past few decades in secular society (yay!! the result of many many years of effort and lawbreaking) but let's not be absolute when we talk about the pants concept lol. Especially within a larger conversation about female/transmasc/intersex/transfem masculinity and social perceptions, especially in an age of rising fascism

Like compared to everyone else in Disanomia, he has 12 cards (in the wiki I use) and then Lilia has 17 cards 💀

Cause I think Malleus has a Bean's Day card as well, but that could just be a fanmade one, I don't have JP twst nor ENG twst anymore so I can't confirm it myself urhghrhevw 🫠

Malleus doesn't have a Beans Day card, so that would've been fanmade! and the 100 anniversary cards are actually the new round of birthday cards, so most of the characters don't have 'em yet -- Malleus should be getting his in a couple of days, when his birthday event starts! oh god my keeeeeys

I think the wiki.gg stays pretty up to date? it looks to me like they have everything that's currently up through JP, at least. :O I did go through and do a quick count just because I couldn't believe Malleus only had 12 cards, but. he really does have the least...defeated only by Silver with 13...astonishing. we need his gargoyle club wear immediately.

i swear sometimes i think people forget that Jon's s1 skeptic act was just that—an act. it was an act!!! he believes the statements!! he's believed them since episode one! do we so soon forget that he denied the statements were real because he knew the Eye something wanted him to be scared, and he knew that was bad, so he decided to act like the statements just didn't scare him? remember, he was working with extremely limited information ("when i record the tape statements, i feel watched, like something knows i'm afraid, and i don't want it to know that"), and came up with a genuinely solid solution with what he had! not his fault that the thing watching him was a literal unknowable eldritch entity that feeds on fear, and he was just some underqualified archivist.

Whenever I write characters in general I try my best not to mischaracterize them too much. Their canon personalities/aspects is what made me love them in the first place and I don't want to stray too far from that..

I also get anxious when I don't interpret a character well enough not because I'm scared what others might say but literally because it's for my own sake.

I don't rlly mind nor care too much if people mischaracterize whether on purpose or on accident– people should just have fun aslong as no harm's done.

I’m trying to plan out something fun to do, but it involves New Skills and Learning Software and the Mortifying Ordeal of Being Known, and my clinically-diagnosed anxiety is rearing up at every step. My mom’s life motto is “Work the problem,” so I'm trying to remember that every time I hit a speed bump. What's the next step in dealing with this problem? What question do you need to google, what article do you need to read, what peripheral do you need to research?

The thing is, I've noticed that every time in my life I make a bunch of confident promises and give myself a rousing pep talk, my executive functioning folds immediately. Like a lawn chair. Just--gone. So we're not doing that this time; I'm tricking myself into not noticing that I'm accomplishing anything. We are all going to have to deal with my anxiety (and yours as well, if you want) and learn to accept it and work alongside it. Because I've noticed that when I'm--let's say, when I let myself be ~vulnerable with the universe--I tend to get further. Maybe subconsciously I reduce tension by saying, "Look, I never said I would definitely do it." On the other hand, maybe lowering expectations for myself makes me really want to exceed those expectations. (The only thing worse than being a perfectionist is being someone who wants to exceed perfectionism. I'm a recovering Gifted Kid™, yeah.) So, anyway, I feel like talking about it because I know you are out there, Anxiety Nation. I know you Get It.

in light of the latest “real person turns out to be an actual garbage human” situation and the wave of "parasocial relationships are bad!!" takes that inevitably follow, i want to say something that might be a bit controversial: parasocial relationships with famous people can actually be amazing and incredibly valuable. :) and they are not morally bad! :)

as a wise mutual of mine who actually studied this phenomenon once put it: “parasocial relationships are common and perfectly normal. humans are wired to form attachments. it’s literally a survival mechanism. as long as it doesn’t tip into (actual) obsession, then have at it”

people are so quick to demonise parasocial relationships, treating them like some sort of intellectual crime, but they’re natural and often beneficial. most people who form these connections are perfectly capable of separating the idea they’ve created of someone from the real-life person. and honestly, these relationships can offer a lot.

yes, it sucks when someone you admire turns out to be a shit stain of a human being. but isn’t that the risk of forming any kind of connection? whether it’s with a celebrity, a fictional character, or even a real-life friend, there’s always the chance that the person won’t live up to the version you had in your head. that doesn’t mean we should shame people for caring or tell them to stop forming connections altogether.

the truth is, people are overcomplicating something that’s both natural and usually harmless. parasocial relationships aren’t inherently bad. they’re just another way we process the world and ourselves. and as long as you have the awareness to recognise that your somewhat idealised version of the celebrity is not their real life private version; go nuts man.

Are we talking about the time when Buck was definitely in a deep hyperfixation and couldn't stop surfing internet by himself? And when he was hurt and needed rest to heal? When Tommy was a caring boyfriend who brought him new ice pack, fluffed his pillow, asked what he needed, slept with him in the same room on a small couch in case of emergency, although could go home? This time? And remind me, did he took Buck's laptop away from him? I don't think so, he just told him to go to sleep because that's what Buck needed. So, all i see here a worried boyfriend.

Em, yeah maybe people shouldn't encourage their loved ones to fight for someone who dumped them. But shouldn't they care about their mental health? Buck is obviously struggling, he needs at least closure. And Tommy wants to reach out too, as we saw in the scene with babbling. So they really need to talk and people around Buck should see it and help him to have this talk. Considering none of them ever gave up on their loved ones. How many struggles Madney had? Henren? Athena&Bobby? And now they are strong. And shouldn't the fuck they encourage Buck to do something to get his happily after too? Even if just to talk to Tommy, understand why Tommy broke up with him, so even without their endgame Buck would know what the hell happend to the relationship he thought were good.
