(mcu!)Peter's love for Spider-Man

I saw a few reddit comments that frankly really bothered me, so I just wanted to ramble about how Peter being somewhat bothered by having to be Spider-Man in ffh and nwh (ffh esp) is more than insanely justified. He will never hate being Spider-Man, infact i think his trauma likely will spur him on to do more and more, either as an escape or a chance to help people the way he hadn't been helped, either way I believe post nwh Peter definitely still finds his joy in being Spider-Man, it'd be literally impossible to just up and make him stop. This part is more of a personal hc before I get into the rest of the post, but I think if he desired to give Spider-Man up after everything, he would have chosen to make the world forget that instead, from what I understand it would have still relieved his troubles, as nobody knows who Spider-Man is, so why would they know Peter?

Far From Home. People take the way Peter acts during the film as him no longer liking being Spider-Man, and it frankly feels very.. ignorant of like literally everything Peter has gone through, honestly. ffh is post endgame, which good fucking god - that is the most trauma inducing experience any possible 15 (16?) year old teen could endure, now im talking both infinity war and endgame, because both are just as bad. In infinity war, he obviously fights alot, not as much as he does in the second film, but it's still very rough, and well he sorta dies, which I'm sure takes a rather extreme toll on him as he could likely feel absolutely everything happening, because of his healing factor, and spidey sense, it's just a very very scary experience, hell I wouldn't be shocked if Peter was drop dead terrified everytime he felt his spidey sense, (he isn't, but I wouldn't put it past being very possible).

And, in endgame he had to hold the gauntlet for an extended period of time from an insane amount of creatures, he literally was holding the future of the entire world in his hands, I would imagine that'd be actually very, very scary. He's consistently put in unfair positions and made to just 'deal' with it, I'm sure he expected some of this but I cant firmly believe he thought he'd end up in such a crazy situation. Now, most obviously the very big part of endgame - Tony Stark fucking died dude!?!?! Let the kid have some time to grieve... not that he ended up getting any, he's literally already lost his parents, (possible uncle), and now his pseudo father, and shit does he lose more right after in such a tiny timespan.

Point is, yeah the fact he want's a goddamn break is not the most insane thing that's happened, god forbid a thoroughly traumatized teenager wants a break without needing to have the burdens of the world (literally) on him again. It just gets to me each time there are such crazy expectations for him, as if any a bunch other characters or people wouldn't literally crumble into pieces if they experienced the amount of stress a kid like Peter is holding constantly. We also get an actual insight on an exact thing I mentioned, where he has a talk with Mysterio where he just wanted to be a normal kid for at least a few seconds, and god is he owed all of that and more. He never got a break, he never got a real chance to comprehend everything that went around him, he got pulled into a fucking other world crisis and yeah - sue him for being exhausted, and not motivated to attempt that all again.

No Way Home. Okay, to start this off - What the fuck? I don't know how obvious it has to be, but the fact Peter is not ecstatic to be Spider-Man after not only having his "identity revealed, but (all I'm about to say is from ffh, still going to get into nwh in a second) almost being killed multiple times, been manipulated by another adult in his life, had his trauma and losses smeared all across his face, faced with taking down an entire insanely large army of killer - explosive - drones, also faced with the fear of accidentally being the cause for a massive incident", is a VERY fair reason, I genuinely think if he stopped being Spider-Man right then and there, everybody he knew would probably support him, because god the things he went through is mind boggling, I don't know how to capture the amount of damage that must have done to Peter, not even just mentally but like quite literal brain damage, he's a kid - no world this severe amount of trauma is taken any forms of lightly. (Which is sorta shown, when Happy goes to pick up Peter on the flower field, and Peter being afraid of Happy maybe not being real)

I wish people gave Peter more credit than they think he deserves, also god Peter fights to be Spider-Man still all throughout nwh, he does his 'duty' by saving all the villains (whilst experiencing the most heinous levels of grief, post May's death), and does everything he can to save the people of their possible destruction, etc. One could fight for the fact Peter.. sorta did cause all of that, even if indirectly - but honestly, I genuinely cannot imagine a different outcome. "What if he went to the lady first, like Strange suggested" It definitely would have not worked, she literally only agreed because he saved her from a being that wouldn't exist had it not been for the earlier mess up, I literally cannot imagine how he would have been able to get any of fixed or back to a state of tolerable at the very least. Peter deserves (and wants) to not live his life as horrible as expected it'd be, he'd never get to any form of normal again, everything he loved was on the line, and half of the world hated him, (alot, wanted him dead or -behind bars).

Peter Parker is just a kid, that is the first and foremost the most important aspect to his character, because the way everything is affected is so so different its ridiculous, the way he will function as a whole when older is very starkly different had this happened to somebody around the age as most of the avengers, all because his brain is just simply not capable of handling such amount's of trauma, or stress. And the way he functions now is so important too, because he's a kid, n' hell will it be obvious how childish he can think or act.

Lastly, another thing I simply hate that people do is when they find the idea of Peter having trauma unrealistic. I'm very much thinking too hard about his character probably, but he is a character with such complex details, and his life is splayed out infront of us through the films, giving us every event that could likely be a cause of something to happen one day, or something that is a cause of an action he already did. I hate that people think just because he's a movie character he's unable to be an actual person in his world, like how everything is simply black and white when it comes to characterization.

Side Note, - this totally turned into just plain out angry rambling, as I've been just annoyed as a whole ever since I started writing this all. so mind anything I say that may be incorrect, I'm defensive about Spider-Man at 8am in the morning and I haven't slept yet, so typos will be made, and some sentences will probably seem confusing.

i am not mcu based, nor rivals based, or any other material based. i may take influence from these things from time to time, but the 616 is my comfortable home-verse.

i'm not a comic elitist or anything. i think both the mcu and 616 are immensely flawed. i just like the 616 universe best.

SHIPPING

i’m completely open to shipping, this is just a forewarning that it is somewhat difficult to genuinely establish romantic connections with bucky due to his nature and trauma.

i am not comfortable with 616 exclusive stucky, but i am okay with mcu or mcu-influenced stucky. i do not see bucky and steve's 616 relationship as familial, but regardless, i recognize that bucky is considerably younger and uses language that clearly puts steve on a certain pedestal. i am only okay with stucky in the modern day, absolutely no invaders era stucky, and highly talked about/plotted so i know we're on the same page, otherwise leave that at the door. i will always go into their relationship assuming it's purely platonic.

i do not ship winterwidow. nothing really againt it, i just don't like it. (besides, i personally see nat as a lesbian, but either way, i'm just not interested). i am fine with portraying bucky and nat as having had a past relationship during the program, but i don't want to actively write anything relating to this ship.

no weird ships please. nothing with characters substantially younger than him or characters he does not and would never view in that light. i’m just not interested in shipping him with characters he’d look at and think ‘baby’.

oh, okay. hello. i guess to preface this; these are my opinions, partly formed from hcs and rps, fanfic, personal thoughts, fun ideas.

and like i mean. most of these i would write. i love to pre-establish / plot ooc before i ship in rp normally

CLINT BARTON -> i have a dozen of these way more and its hard to do a top 5, like there are so many things i ship with clint, like so many (and so many non canon ships; actually their are probbaly non cnaon ship i ship way more than clintasha but ssshh)

Hawkingbird (Bobbi M. + Clint) -> that's my heart and soul right here, barbie and ken of marvel, number one, would kill for

Ironhawk (Tony S. + Clint) -> look look this is my second most shipped thing, and like oh man the thread w/ mts giving me brainrot about them

Winterhawk (Bucky B. + Clint) -> they just make me giggle in recent canon, but even back in CW1, while there wasn't a lot; there is something to be said about the two "trained by captain amercia" boys, and candidates to be the next cap boys (yes clint was in the running for that)

Spiderhawk (Jessica D. + Clint) -> hear me out, they were very cute, they had a lot of fun together; there was real potential; jess just happened at a huge transitional period for clint, and like than he goes and cheats, can't communicate, but like they really are cute and they brought out the fun in each other

Clintasha (Natasha R. + Clint) -> look i love that, clint will always love and be in love w/ natasha; they aren't my highest rated ship, actually im mentioning them here to put out; that like she is his best friend, and i really love them platonically like oh boy i could go on about that ( but i do ship them romantically too just not as much as platonic ) also natasha is always the one he ends up trying for chance and chance again with her

My heart aches for Pepper that he's been dead in-universe timeline for probably longer than they were married; i have many headcanons about pepper and happy, especially in terms of my pepper; and just them. the iron family babes. tony's married friends. and just I would weep for comic/616 happy to write ahh

Pepperony (Tony S. + Pepper) -> look they may have never dated, or done more than kiss and sleep together like once or twice in 616/comic canon; whereas mcu did put them romantically which could have been done so much better (but i like the concept). NOW I love them Platonically. SO MUCH. They are best friends, and I have a lot of hcs about them just based in platonics and friendship, and actual canon... but yeah, i'd be so for them to actually explore a romantic relationship, and ship them romantically, as lovers.

Maria Hill/Pepper -> Ship Pepper with women. Look you know, hear me out. Just yes. Like YES? Before both being burned by Tony. To Maria just being shocked that Pepper Potts of all people /saved her/ to them just both being workaholics with /problems/ to bonding over stress, and drinks, and just Maria and Pepper finding common ground; and pepper plus woman makes my lesbian soul happy

Steve R. / Pepper -> self indulgent. self indulgent thoughts. headcanons of when steve is woken from the ice and tony is talking about that; and what his "bodyguard" tells him about steve; to pepper meeting steve, cause she's tony's PA/EA rolled into one, and getting to know steve/captain america cause of that through the early years of avengers, and just being friends with all the first avengers cause of her proximity to tony/iron man... to romance with captain america, steve rogers, and its so self indulgent. let her date a hero she just looks up and thinks is dreamy.

Natasha R/ Pepper -> same reasons as Maria. Don't have much to say, but boy would i ship it

Important Things about MY Natasha.

First and foremost, Natasha is comic / hc based more then anything. When it comes to her history, her sole history, I do not go by the mcu. I very lightly go by the mcu but for those who didn’t read the comics I am flexible with. 

Her full  birth name is Grand Duchess Natasha ( proper nickname Nadya, however FURY was the one to give her the nickname Natalia.)  Yuriyevna Romanova.  She was born November 12th, 1914 in St. Petersburg Russia.

The Romanovs were her family. Her father was Grand Duke George ( Yuri) Alexandrovich Romanov ( so yes, she’s royal). She was only FOUR when her family was murdered.

She doesn’t know about her family. Only thing she does know she doesn’t have any and that they’re all dead. Who and what they were she still has yet to find out. But has been quietly trying to find out due to repeating dreams / nightmares.

Age, she’s around 105. During her time at the Red Room , she was bio-technologically and psycho-technologically enhanced. The reason behind her long and youthful life span. So, Nat isn’t really the young woman she appears to be.

She she can ( it’s just super hard ) and did have children. One miscarriage and one child she had and gave up for adoption.  NO ONE knows this. She made sure it was never noted.

My main time period for her is POST EVERYTHING. She’s kinda retired and kind of not. I write her living her life but accepting jobs / partaking in missions on a selective basis. 

Natasha does have a family. She has an adoptive mother and three younger siblings. She’s VERY protective of them therefore not everyone knows about them.

. So, we all know that Loki and Sigyn are friends since childhood

. Loki started to gradually develop a crush on Sigyn as they both went into their teen years, when Sigyn is growing from a pretty and curious little girl to a blossoming and courageous teenager

. Their relationship kinda reminds me of Beauty and the Beast and Hiccistrid in some ways btw

. Sigyn doesn't give a flying fuck about Loki's Jotun heritage. However, she found herself having to learn to get over the internalised stigma she learned against other Frost Giants ( rhe Asgardians, Light Elves, Vanaheimrs and Dwarves distrust Frost Giants )

. It was partially thanks to Sigyn that Loki gradually accepts his Jotun heritage and recovers from his period of self loathing ever since he found out his Jotun heritage

. Like other Valkyries and valkyrior veterans, Sigyn regularly wore her hair in braided hairstyles. Braids are signs of power and victory in Ancient Nordic Socieities

. While Loki has got raven hair, ivory skin and ice blue eyes, Sigyn got warm skin, curly auburn nut brown hair, turquoise eyes and an athletic and curvy body

. Sigyn likes baking and she sometimes has baking hangouts with her Nine Realms friends

. She is good friends with Hnossa, Gersemi, Hildegund ( Volstagg's wife ), Anneli/Grace ( Heimdall's wife ) and Sif

. Even after all Loki has done in thor 1 and Avengers 1, Sigyn can't help but still love him and is tremendously relieved when Odin and Frigga can't bear to kill him.

. She isn't above calling out his crap tho, but she tries her best to help him get back on a right track as they mend the seams of their relationship

. Sigyn is an anchor of constancy to Loki's unpredictability and chaos

. After the Massacre of Valkyrie, Sigyn began to wear aurora borealis inspired hair highlights at times to commemorate her mother and those who died in the Massacre of Valkyrie

. Sigyn is more like her mother personality wise btw.

. Her dad is a tall blonde pureblood elf with turquoise eyes ( think kinda like Legolas ) while her mother got dark auburn hair, warm skin and bright brown eyes.

. When she was a kid, Sigyn is kinda insecure of her pointy ears. Loki is one of those who helped her get through her insecurities over her ears

. Loki likes to visit Sigyn's villa in Asgard when he was Loki/Odin. It is a place of solace for both of them when they wanted a break from court dramas and political melodramas and such

. Sigyn loves Yuletide. She loves to help around with the decorating and baking. Loki is alright with Yuletide but tends to enjoy them more whenever Sigyn is around. Bless.

Might I request a HC for ikesen Shingen? Perhaps something to do with his visit to the modern day? Something that while not in the route, but you believe he and MC did in modern day?

A/N: Yes!! I really do love that we got to see one of our boys visit the future 😋😋 I haven’t read Shingen’s route in a little while so I don’t remember much of what they did when they traveled back to the present so I’m very sorry if there are some things that have already been mentioned in his route, like buying him clothes and such. [HC] Shingen and MC in modern-day Japan

Content Warnings: Mentions of sex, food

Yes, the end goal was always to return to the Sengoku period with one healthy Shingen Takeda, but goddamnit, MC was relishing the time spent in the modern-day

Oh, how she has missed plumbing and a nice shower

And oh, how exciting it was to show Shingen her appreciation for all these technological advancements

Washing up after traveling 500 years was certainly an experience

“Eventually, we’ll have to go out and buy you some modern clothes but I’d figured you’d like some semblance of how things were—given all the new things you’ve seen today. So I’ll wash your kimono and hopefully, it’ll be dry by tomorrow morning.”

By then, MC had turned the shower on—steam and all—and turned around to see Shingen already disrobing

Oh, the shit-eating grin on this man’s face

“And if it isn’t dry by tomorrow morning? How will I keep warm?”

Words did not register for MC as Shingen was then half-naked

Cue shower sex

And honestly? Not his favorite.

Much rather prefer making love to MC in a futon, or for the time being, a bed

Now, MC considered it overwhelming to go back in time and miss certain modern elements

She couldn’t even imagine what it’d be like the other way around where there were perhaps too many modern elements that a person like Shingen wouldn’t be able to take in all at once

And so, with the help of Sasuke dropping off groceries and his largest clothes for Shingen, the pair spent the first several days in the apartment

MC continued to introduce Shingen to modern-day concepts that were limited to her apartment

Oh, the adoration for his love was clear as day when MC held an impromptu fashion show of her modern-day clothes (lingerie included)

And let’s not forget the photo albums and giving a brief and very limited history of developing photos and more modern printing methods

How he wished he could have every photo of his goddess ingrained in his mind—to know and understand completely what MC’s life was like

And when the two finally ventured out to the hospital and other sites (including many restaurants and cafes), cooking home dinners was always more fun and a rewarding experience

Shingen came to have a very deep fondness for refrigerators

If only he could transport one back to Kai and have it keep cool

“Let me cook for you tonight.”

“Really? Are you sure?”

Let me tell you, it took quite some time for MC to fully trust Shingen alone in the kitchen

As for activities outside the apartment:

Going to see a movie was an absolute must

The saltiest, most buttery popcorn in existence with a large soda between the pair in an IMAX theater

3D movies? Not MC’s favorite but a necessary experience for Shingen

You best believe he tried his best to understand/enjoy franchises such as Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, the MCU (this did not bode well for him)

MC taking Shingen on aimless train rides

Long, long walks with no destination

Stumbling upon a shopping center along a waterfront with a Ferris wheel!!

Nothing could be more cliche than kissing your date at the top

And surely, MC would indulge in all the cliches with Shingen

Like an excited child, MC tugged on Shingen’s hand and ran to the Ferris wheel, explaining the whole way how she wished there was an entire amusement park for them to go to

“This ride is pretty much made for kids but couples go on it all the time. And when you get to the top, oh, it’s such a beautiful view.”

Just as he was every other time MC taught him something new, Shingen couldn’t help but feel caged by his love’s happiness and enthusiasm—in a good way

This time period really does suit her.

But the overwhelming love he felt for her was, of course, always followed by doubt

Is she really okay with leaving this time—her home—forever for me?

MC was always quick to reassure him without even knowing there was a problem in the first place

She was very honest about soon missing the modern-day but was even more eager to show Shingen everything she could offer

Never did MC ever seem regretful or deeply sad to have gone back home just for Shingen and then go back 500 years just for Shingen

And when the two finally stopped at the top, he took in his surroundings

MC was right, it sure was a beautiful sight

To look at all the lights and think of all the people going about their lives

Before they would lose the beloved spot at the top, MC gently rested her palm on his cheek, turned Shingen toward her, and placed a soft kiss on his lips

Just then, as they were pulling away and Shingen was about to spout something incredibly romantic and cheesy, another idea took hold

“Oh! I should teach you how to drive! You know, I might not be good at horseback riding but I’m a great driver. Oh, we should definitely go to an empty parking lot tomorrow and I’m sure Sasuke would let us borrow his car. I used to lease a car but that ended right before I moved and got that job as a designer…”

And of course, Shingen was nothing but smiles at this point as he listened to MC ramble about anything and everything

hm. i mean to be honest babe, i don't think bruce would do that? now i'm no bruce expert, but spending time volunteering at a homeless shelter doesn't seem like something he would do.

what i can see is him doing stuff that like. mcu tony stark stans hc tony as doing. setting up free wifi hubs in wayne enterprises so people always have a place to go for free wifi. randomly tipping thousands of dollars to the lucky waiter he meets in a restaurant. making (or having his we r&d team make) a safe, healthy, and environmentally friendly period supplies line bc natasha stephanie complained about it once. yknow, that sorta stuff

(sorry this is so short but i just. can't really see him actually going out and volunteering other than once every couple of months or something? maybe i've got a diff characterization of bruce in my head than others idk)

OKAY SO from a deleted scene from Black Widow the Budapest incident, a.k.a. Natasha's defection from the Red Room, occurred eight years prior to CACW/BW -- in other words, in 2008. IM1 also takes place in 2008, and because it greatly amuses me I headcanon that the end of IM1 (the Tony and Stane fight, since IM1 takes place over a period of months) took place immediately after the Budapest incident, which means that Nick Fury got back to the Triskelion with Budapest on fire and the Black Widow that Clint Barton talked into defecting and who now he has to rehabilitate going "okay, fine, now I can relax," and then got a call from Coulson going "boss, you won't BELIEVE what just happened."

After some finagling (I don't care what the official dates are) to get IM2, Thor 1, and TIH to all take place during the same week (which canon says they did), I have tentatively placed them in fall 2010. (Trying to get the Phase 1 dates to line up is a nightmare because they've all been retconned so many times.) This assumes that the "six months later" marker at the beginning of IM2 is just when Vanko Sr. dies and there's a longer time span between that and when Tony goes up in front of the Senate subcommittee and the rest of the movie occurs, and it assumes that when Fury says "last year" to Thor in Avengers he actually means longer than a year, but this is not exactly the worst timeline sin that the MCU has ever committed, it just has a lot of moving parts.

So here is my IM2 Natasha headcanon: this is her first undercover mission since she joined SHIELD. She has been doing ops for SHIELD since she joined, but it's all been relatively straightforward "go kill this dude" / "protect this other dude" stuff, and probably for the first year she was running those ops with Clint specifically. (The Winter Soldier run-in near Odessa that she refers to in TWS would have been in 2009 -- it could have been one of her earliest solo ops.) Fury puts her undercover with SI and Tony because he's curious to see if she can pull it off and also if she can deal with Tony Stark without murdering him then she's definitely been rehabilitated. Also if she can deal with the lingerie photoshoot she had to do for that without murdering anyone. Natasha succeeded, she did not have a good time, but she passed the last of Nick Fury's tests in the process.

(I had Natasha say this in Yonder, but I think she doesn't enjoy doing undercover work, and when she went to SHIELD she was hoping a little that she'd be out of that. The Battle of New York was an eye-opener for her with the realization that she didn't have to and in fact she liked not doing stuff alone in the dark.)

- It’s a common occurrence for Alfred to catch Ivan jamming out to Miss Baltimore Crabs despite claiming to hate Hairspray

- Alfred took Ivan hunting once typical like south style and it went TERRIBLY

- Ivan really likes early 2010s American music but refuses to admit it bc he knows it’s one of Alfreds favorite time periods of music

- Another common occurrence i’m the car is a song will come on in e car and the lyrics will say one or two things that he can relate to and Alfred goes “LMAO bruh it’s us during *insert some year*” or “me when you *insert some mega specific event*” and ivan just 😐🙄😬🙃

- The first time Alfred forced Ivan to listen to Rasputin was one of the hardest times Alfred ever laughed

- They take a lot of showers together

- Russias weak ass skin needs extra TLC when it comes to sunscreen. Once he got so sunburnt that Alfred was able to peel most of his back and absolutely bullied the fuck out of him for it the whole time

- They watch shitty reality tv and tlc together. They love to quote iconic lines from Hoarders, 1000 Pound Sisters, etc

- Ivan doesn’t get weirded out by mundane shit but frequently Alfred will bring a bug up to him and Ivan always flinches and goes “EUGHhHhHdhf”. Alfred is the only one who knows this

- Alfred dragged Ivan to every goddamn marvel/DC movie release date. Ivan knows the lore of the entire goddamn MCU because of this. He doesn’t really like them but he knows Alfred LOOVES the so he endorses it bc he likes seeing Al happy. (they both really enjoyed deadpool)

- Ivan lowkey likes country music and it’s all Alfred’s fault

- They generally just make a lot of fun and tease each other a lot, that’s like their love language 🥰

- Rusame loves hugs. they hate initiating them

- They are the mfs who are somehow always touching without realizing it

- They play footsies during meetings but it always leads to one of them kicking the other and everybody hearing it

- They also get into intense thumb was battles in the middle of meetings

- They both know morse code so they use that a lot to say sweet things rather than using their words

- Ivan is more laid back than Al but he will do shit to embarrass him. Like yell something humiliating in public, say that Al is like 14 years old, etc

- They have really long introspective conversations about politics, philosophy, history, etc bc they’re both nerds

- They both absolutely loooove space and are honestly genuinely VERY smart. Like they probably helped their respective space programs and now talk about everything they learned and shit

- Al is like the only person Ivan can get soft with

- They both get nightmares and that’s when they cuddle most :,)

- DOUBLE DATES WITH FRUK ARE ALWAYS SO CHAOTIC. It’s literally just Francis and Ivan standing there while Alfred and Arthur argue like the dumbfuck brothers they are

- They are both really good at cooking and they exchange recipes a lot. Ivan’s favorite meal that Al makes is a Philly Cheese Steak HEHFJFJTJ And Al really likes Solyanka and Pirozhkis

- ALFRED KNOWS RUSSIAN LMAO he learned it during the cold war 🙂 actually I hc that this man is fluent in a LOT of languages (since America has a lot of languages spoken here) including spanish, russian, french, some german, and latin bc Arthur forced him to learn when he was a kid

- They both really adore and appreciate each others country’s cultures

- Alfred takes Ivan to see the ball drop in New York almost EVERY year

- Alfred actually gets along really well with Ivan’s sisters and Ivan really really appreciates it
