Gonna ramble a bit about my nor’easter au and Alfred below the cut

Following the American Revolution, Alfred is immediately sent out to squash any rebellions (like whiskey rebellion) and to partake in wars against Indigenous nations like the Cherokee. I’ll save a discussion about the Cherokee wars for another time because that’ll take a long time to explain + I’m still working on my Cherokee oc and I need to understand Cherokee history and perspective more before I go forward with talking about this topic.

Now the many of the east coast states are older than Alfred, and they mostly supported him during the revolution because they thought he’d be easy to control given at the time of the revolution he wasn’t tied down as any colony or city. However, he was a New Englander and very obviously so

He was once Plymouth colony and he grew up alongside his cousin Henry/Massachusetts, but by the time the revolution occurred, his status was unclear and he was simply living with his cousin (who’s his earliest and most fierce supporter) .

These states operated like countries and part of why the had the revolution was to continue to self-govern and maintain their regional cultures. It’s also part of why the federal government initially was rather weak. Given Alfred’s closeness to his cousin, and his very staunch New England identity, I think the states would be hesitant over a strong New England national control. And so I think they especially Jennie/NY & Rich/Virginia encouraged Alfred to leave his cousin for a while, and partake in military campaigns (+ he was good at battle).

Also Alfred was like 14, and I don’t think he’s ever been the type to sit down and do paperwork. Honestly he was always a bad student, who was far more interested in the outdoors, horses, sailing and hunting. While he won the war, and he was fine with being head of state, he still didn’t 1) have confidence in himself to make non-military related decisions 2) he just wasn’t mentally ready to take on the responsibilities and was fine deferring it to his states like Jennie, Rich, or Henry to figure out matters that weren’t military related. He was irresponsible and it would come back to bite him in the ass during the Civil War.

Alfred on a personal level it was probably good for him to get away from his overly critical cousin who can be overbearing, but also so he would get more experience to deeply get to know his states.

Also Alfred, growing up in New England, he was a little ball of rage as a kid and he has a difficult time managing his emotions. He wasn’t exactly the personable seemingly fun loving Alfred of the present. Not that he couldn’t crack a joke, but ok I’m not from New England, but in the northeast I find we’re rather cynical, un-filtered and sarcastic and tbh kind of asssholes in the way we have fun and in our humor. That’s how he was, which is like fine unless you’re trying to appeal to the rest of the nation lol which he would have to

I think his time spent in Appalachia and the south did help him learn more about his other states especially Maisie/ North Carolina. But also helped him learn more how to let go some of this intense New England rage, and how to better control his emotions. But also let loose in a way that isn’t so dark and cynical. Also I think this helped him slowly learn how to speak with less of a New England specific accent

He was also able to observe states like Rich and Carl/ South Carolina and gain an understanding of how being able to control your emotions, can help control your image and how others perceive you. So these are the origins of how he slowly began to shape and become at least in public this overly friendly happy go lucky Alfred.

Why Canada is Actually Jacked

Ramble time!

Canada can withstand MULTIPLE America punches. America is canonically Buff Guy. He's the most jacked of all jacked, he's a superpower, he can drag a car around for an hour no sweat, he probably run marathons for warmups. He could swing a bison around at age barely-old-enough-to-function. His punches have to hurt (and his hugs must be amazing).

Canada could handle having America throw a baseball at warp speed into his face, then handles several MORE of those. Those things would probably kill a person if American threw like that at anyone else. Or at least cause more then just A LIGHT BRUISE. Someone did calculations and figured America could probably carry some dang heavy stuff and have some ridiculously high strength threshold.

Which actually might be why America dares to throw so hard with Canada. He knows the guy can handle it.

Also Canada probably had to reinforce his doors so America wouldn't break them when barging in. But clearly it's worked out.

Also should I mentioned Canada canonically eats as much as America? Both resemble each other enough that Canada has to put that calorie dump somewhere....only natural he's probably in America's little workout boot camp. Makes sense, they do a lot of stuff together both IRL and in Hetaliaverse. Pretty sure I heard something about military cross exercises?

Canada is lugging a polar bear around. A polar bear that can grow bigger then Russia.

Also he's Canada. Lumberjacks, rugged dudes with beards and poutine.

And don't forget: he's never lost a war, has the 2nd-largest amount of land, and has done well considering he probably also deals with General Winter and has to deal with America on a near-daily basis.

so tldr: canada buff he's just hiding it and probably is one of few characters that stand a chance against America in a test your strength machine challenge.

EDIT: I was reminded today that Canada once slammed a door in America's face and managed to kepe him out after the Revolutionary War. again, America would probably break most doors. Strong people don't always notice their strength- i have a friend who works iut regularly and her musical atule is very much on the heavh side and she's shorter then a lot of other people in our area so i doubt her heavier playing style comes from body mass alone.

canada is able, even when they're young, to hold off a desperate America.

also also he took Cuba hits which aren't as had but if he's getitng beat ip pretty often for America's fights....

like, are there UN delegates in this world or are the NPs the delegates? if there are separate delegates, what is the significance of the meetings that all nations go to?

i’d like to think that despite having separate delegates for international organisations, there are also some things that only NPs are required to attend. this specifically for cases of the ICJ

since the ICJ only considers nations as the subject in cases, then the NPs HAVE to represent themselves as they are the ones called into court

it would be seriously funny with the non-security threat cases (specifically border issues or fisheries) where it ends with two nations fighting it out on the court because one seized the other’s fishing vessel

Learning about the Polish situation after the partitions is so funny because you learn that after one of the Uprisings when everything from language to culture got banned in the Prussian part of the Annexation, (it got banned everywhere but let's ignore that for a moment) some Germans started to get interested in that because "why is it banned"?

And I just imagine the situation where poor Gilbert is just sitting in his study or just some office space doing paperwork maybe, and teenager Ludwig just comes in and is like:

he is quite used to the heavy snow, so this type of weather doesn't bother him in the slightest

he'll invite them to watch the snowfall outside as he rests his elbow on the windowsill, chin in his hand

he's quietly reminiscing about all those times he spent running around in snowy forests and sliding across icy, frozen over lakes as child (not without falling down a couple of times, of course)

it'll take a while for this snow to melt anyway...why not get comfortable next to him and listen to all the bittersweet recollections of his childhood memories?

he snacks out of boredom sometimes, but since it's so cold out, he'd prefer to eat something hot

even eating has become boring for him

...and like the weather outside, once it starts, it's hard to stop

• Ludwig is a huge fan of Rammstein, and buys up all the merch with this band, goes to all their concerts,and sometimes bring Prussia too.

• He uses a 9-in-1 shampoo that includes:conditioner,shaving foam,toothpaste,dishwashing detergent,machine oil,shower gel,shoe polish,liquid soap and shampoo.Even after such a mixture, his hair looks gorgeous.

• One day during Oktoberfest, being drunk, he stood on the table and tore his shirt.Since then,Italy at the request of Germany, always accompanied him to Oktoberfests in order to control the situation.(its happened again)

• He burned his military uniform from the Second World War.In his pocket he carries a small fragment of the Berlin Wall - very small, but infinitely significant.He hates the past, but understands that the best thing he can do is to prevent it from happening again.

• He works late and sometimes falls asleep at his desk.If Prussia visits him, Prussia takes him to the bed, but if it's Italy, he covers him with a blanket and puts a pillow under his head.

•He has two framed photographs on his shelf: one of himself, in Italy and Japan, and the other at the Oktoberfest with Prussia.As you get closer, you can see how clean the framed photos are: Germany constantly wipes them and makes sure that the photos are in perfect condition.

So like we all know about bad touch trio (France, Prussia and Spain) and like yeah they are really iconic in fandom and stuff. But I have idea for a new trio;

Prussia believes he's the most awesome, Poland believes he's the most fabulous and America believes that he's the hero. They meet up with each other to argue who's the best.

BUT THAT'S NOT ALL, notice how 3 of them have heavy bird themes, Prussia having a literal bird in his design and having black eagle on his emblem. Poland having his first capital named after bird nest, have a white eagle on his emblem, wings on hussars and the fact he's compared to phoenix. And America has bald eagle on his emble and all of the freedom stuff.

3 of them are also known for being obnoxious af, so just imagine their interactions together.

Conclusion: The bird trio.

Edit: (Because I just thought of that) but their teaming up would be Russia's worst nightmare, they would of course piss of Russia together.
