ok hot take, like i may b guilty it too a certain extent but i usually phrase this as a means to tell you where my perspective is coming from and not as a silencing tool but i do find it weird in hetalia spaces where people try to silence others with their academic background typically historians do this?

but very specifically when the content they are trying to silence is discussing a perspective or focused on a perspective that is not that may be nuanced, or not necessarily casting certain hetalia characters in a good light. (ex: writing a fic in which the perspective comes from a Mexico character will probably put Alfred in a bad light). Like there's a difference between critiquing portrayal versus "hey um actually i am a xyz and i will make a moral and academic justification and maybe find a new fandom."-- like that particular phrasing kind of shuts down any convo and learning imo and differs from critique.

Anyways, Clara & Mona are sisters. They have a tumultuous relationship is putting it lightly. Clara is the older sister, Mona is the younger. Lol if Mona didn't dye her hair, she and Clara would look very very similar. I am not entirely sure if Teresa is related to them. Right now, she's a kid, and she's just there lol

other than life being super busy, if i am being so real the reason I am not investing that much time into tumblr is cause I find the general tone of the fandom on here can be pretty hostile if someone wants to create nuanced content. I don't like feeling like I gotta look over my shoulder all the time too, and I am not doing well mentally in general hence why I have been rather quiet on this website cause I gotta protect myself. This post btw is just getting this off my chest and also like idk if you're like myself, and you enjoy nuance- you are allowed to exist in this fandom as much as anyone else. An individual enjoying nuance does not negate someone who wants escapist content right to exist, or opinions. Both can exist at the same time. There's plenty of room in fandom, and this one is interesting cause there is sooo much room to interpretation.

Anyways, since I been back every couple months or so, there's been some sort of fandom - shaming post typically written along the lines of "Well you're a fake fan of Hetalia, if you focus on historical events and you want to discuss them in a dark way and maybe you should find a different fandom and the source material is completely devoid of any darkness." I know I shouldn't care, but like typically folks are mistaking nuanced content, or content that centers around a different historical perspective that may put someone's "fav" in a bad light as "dark". Secondly, the source material is actually fairly dark ngl as such as is the nature when you discuss historical topics especially if your characters are meant to be representative of geopolitical entities. People can chose to engage with that aspect of hetalia if they so desire to, and they can also choose not to. They are both equally valid.

honestly you're so right tho. even moving beyond shipping, i find a lot of fandom discourse to be rather silly. like idk why people just scroll past content they dislike. also there's plenty of room for everyone to exist lol as long as you're not stalking, doxxing, harassing, or what not like everyone can exist in fandom.

One thing I would probably never understand is a ship war. Maybe it's because I never was really into ships, I couldn't care less tbh. Ofc if I liked certain characters together I would ship them but the thought of "I'm gonna harass everyone who thinks that this character should be with someone else" never came to me😭😭 but like WHY WOULD YOU??? if it's not p&do or anything like that I couldn't care less. If you don't like it– block them :D it's that simple!! ❤ you don't have to be a bitch🫶🫰 and no I'm not talking about my personal experience cause I didn't have any thankfully, but I saw a post where one person was fuming about a different paring and I was like "I would love to have that much free time". And about paring canons with ocs, let ppl have fun, I doesn't hurt anyone. But no🙂‍↔️ you have to be a dick because " someone is shipping their female oc with germany, and he's gay for Italy 😡" sure, I'm not a fan of shipping CANONICALLY 100% gay characters with the opposite sex, but is it confirmed? No?? SO SHUT THE FUCK UP
