I want to chalk up Rhodey’s sheer lack of interaction with his literal best friend: Tony, (who was lost in space) on him apparently having been a skrull during all of Avengers: Endgame but skrull!rhodey is also NOT canon in my mind, and never will be, so…
Like, you’re telling me that Tony’s last interaction with his oldest friend wasn’t even with the actual man and Rhodey won’t ever get to say goodbye either? Wtf?

peter, nauseous as fuck but refuses to admit that he feels ill:
rhodey who attended college with tony and knows the exact face he makes when he over does it, glances at peter (who is literally like a carbon copy of tony) and asks on instinct: what did you take?
peter, forcing his stomach to not spew everywhere, trying and failing to act casual: what? nothing. i didn't take anything.
rhodey activating his mom voice colonel voice: peter.
peter: i did what i had to. (reaches into his pocket and pulls out $40) and i won the bet.
rhodey: what did you do?
peter: i drank a gallon of bleach
rhodey, closes his eyes and takes a deep breath trying to process how peter is simultaneously better and worse than tony ever was: why...did you drink a gallon of bleach?
peter: i lost my backpack and needed money to buy a new one. and i cant ask may. shes bought seven over the last two months
rhodey:

The Avengers (+) On Gift Giving
Pepper: Absolutely wonderful, as usual. - But seriously: gives very practical, well thought out gifts.
Tony: I refer you to the bunny. Mostly makes or repairs stuff for people.
Thor: Decent at gift giving, but it's usually weapons, alcohol, or something he saw randomly in a shop window that he thinks he heard someone say they wanted. Basically, he gifts based on vibes.
Natasha: Gets something she knows someone wants but won't buy themselves (like a new printer or smth).
Clint: Inside jokes and cringey mugs/t-shirts/etc. are his go to.
Steve: Personalized paintings or things he knows someone specifically wants.
Bruce: Makes gifts unless he thinks of a specific thing for someone.
Peter Parker (yes, I am aware he is Jewish. this does not have to be for Christmas): Goes on one big shopping trip with nothing specific in mind with a list of people. Makes his own cards.
Sam: Depends on the person, but usually he does fun holiday stuff or books. (ex. Christmas tree mugs or personalized ornaments)
Rhodey: Asks people what they want. Sometimes gets things he thinks they need.
Bucky: Ridiculously good at getting exactly what someone wants without them saying anything about it.
T'Challa: Very spot-on gifts, that are very practical. This does not apply to Shuri, who gets memes (interpret that as you will).
Fury: Gift cards and passive-agressive books.
Maria Hill: Sticks to the classics. Socks, chocolate, ornaments, etc.
Coulson: Makes most gifts and cards off of memories and inside jokes. Very personal stuff.

tony, loudly clearing his throat and shaking out a VERY long sheet of paper: my dearest rhodes
rhodey, glancing up: yes?
tony, assuming a strong stance like he’s about to serenade him: my dearest platypus, words cannot express my adoration for you, nor my dedication to your side. nay, but I shall attempt anyways. your hair is silky like a really nice pillow, your eyes as deep as a river. your nose was drawn by the gods, and your mouth was painted with a rose.
rhodey, turning to tony’s literal girlfriend, eyes wide: you aren’t going to stop him???
pepper, tony’s aforementioned literal girlfriend, turning the page in her book: if I stop him now, he’ll just start over
tony, getting louder: YOUR HANDS-

So these are my aesthetic boards for my version of the MCU young avengers (which making those is apparently my thing now lol). It's sort of an AU, but it's also part of the plan in my head for the MCU for the next like ten to fifteen years (don't judge me, I'm crazy). If you don't like any of these, please remember that these are just my opinions before you leave any rude comments. I would still love to hear anyone else's thoughts and opinions though!

Elijah Bradley - Patriot (22)
Tumblr media
Harley Keener - Iron Lad (25)
Tumblr media
Kate Bishop - Hawkeye (24)
Tumblr media
Kamala Khan - Ms. Marvel (18)
Tumblr media
Cassie Lang - Stature (21)
Tumblr media
Amadeus Cho (19)
Tumblr media
Riri Williams - Ironheart (23)
Tumblr media
America Chavez - Miss America (18)
Tumblr media
Charles Alexander "Alex" [last name unknown] (original character) - Winter Soldier/no alias (11) *he's not really part of the team at the moment but is later on*
Tumblr media
Billy Maximoff - Wiccan (16) *Billy Maximoff and Billy Kaplan are two different people in my world, Billy Kaplan hasn't entered the MCU of 2026 in this*
Tumblr media
Tommy Maximoff - Speed (16) *Same as Billy with Tommy Maximoff and Tommy Shepard being different people*
Tumblr media
Loki/Kid Loki (19, but he is a god so...)
These are their ages as of 2026 and I tried to make them as MCU accurate as possible. Obviously they age on my little timeline. Also I know Alex's comic pictures is actually James Roger's from the comics, I just needed a photo. Also also I know the things with the twins is confusing, but it's not really that important. I can explain if someone really wants to know though.
I can also drop more info on all the characters if anyone wants that. The timeline too.

The "Marvel is becoming woke" crowd is about to discover that the Young Avengers is a very diverse series/team with a predominantly queer team with various characters of color. The MCU adaptation that seems to be interchanging/adding characters with others is not deviating from this pattern.
Hello we've always been here, you have just never been forced to pay attention.
My favorite example is just the fact that Billy started dating Teddy like five or six issues before he came out. It's normal to love regardless of gender and fight for love regardless od gebder. It's normal to exist as a brown person and want to defend the universe as a brown person.
This is what happens when media slowly starts representing the real world.

Rhodey is such an underrated character, and it frustrates me to no end!! It's really interesting to see military personnel portrayed the way Marvel has for Rhodey, and he's such an important person for others like Tony as well. He calls him out, supports him, let's Tony support him back...Rhodey deserves more LOVE
And as a person I wish we got to learn more about him. I want to know more!! I suppose I say that about most characters though.

The lack of scenes between Tony and Rhodey in Endgame is criminal, and I do still think that all these years later.
Literally, Peter freshly back from the “dead” interacts with Tony more during the final battle and leading up to Tony’s death than Rhodey does the entire movie. How? Why?

It's such a shame that the colour scheme is so ugly but MK 42 really is one of the best Iron Man armours. In-universe, it's a reasonable step forward from suitcase and weird-flying-pod-wrist-detecting-thing armours and it's also a really elegant way of doing CGI while keeping the realistic look.
The one downside of the CGI point is that all previous armours got sort of retconned to fit MK 42's design philosophy for the big fight scene at the end of Iron Man 3, which kind of defeats the purpose of the first suit-up scene, which implies MK 42 is the first of its kind.
But aside from that, it's easily a top 3 Iron Man armours if you ask me, along with MK 46 and MK 3. Nothing tops MK 3. I will die on this hill.
Also I'm gonna get crucified for this but Iron Patriot fucks. Way harder than the later War Machine designs (the first one is still the best one)
Anyway can you tell I rewatched the Iron Man trilogy? Cause I did.
Ok byeeeeee

Iron Man 3 (2013) Review
Tumblr media
potential spoilers ahead...
This movie is possibly my favorite Iron Man focused movie, don't make me choose. For the longest time, it was my overall favorite Marvel movie, hands down. Not sure it still holds that title, but it is certainly still high on the list.
The effects throughout the movie are well done. The Iron Legion (all the suits at the end of the movie) and the A.I.M. super soldiers are both great examples of how good this movie's effects were. The movie's soundtrack is also really good. Both the backing tracks and more noticeable songs are well chosen and add intensity or vulnerability to the scenes where they would apply.
Robert Downey Jr. is, as always, the perfect Tony Stark. He improvised so many of the defining lines for the character. RDJ was basically just being himself and managed to portray an amazing Tony Stark.
Tony's arc in this movie comes with so much needed growth. To fully understand the character journey he goes on, you do need to know what happened to him in The Avengers (2012) meaning at the very least you would need to watch 523 minutes, or as a normal person would say 8 hours and 43 minuets, and that's not counting any non-Iron Man movies that give further context to the 2012 movie. If you wanted to watch the movies that give even more context to the 2012 Avengers that watch time would jump by 2 movies, both with roughly 2 hours of runtime. His journey comes to a well deserved, narratively satisfying end in this movie. The decision for Tony to remove the Arc Reactor and settle into being a normal person again feels rightfully earned. Part of the reason I've always loved this one so much was that it gave the trilogy such a well deserved and satisfying ending.
