Avengers: The Children’s Crusade, Issue: 2

This issue was pretty sad honestly. I really enjoyed it though. Here’s some highlights.

In this issue we find out where Wanda is, and we meet Pietro. The Young Avengers battle the Avengers and are now on the run.

Rating: 6/10

Yelena, reading over a debrief: ouch *pulls her hand back to reveal a paper cut* fuck that hurts.

Kate, under her breath: hasn’t she been through enough?!

Yelena: what was that?

Kate: nothing. I was just saying I should probably go feed lucky.

Yelena: give him a kiss from me. Oh and can you bring me back a bandaid? *she went back to reading her report when Kate nodded and got up to leave*

*Kate is standing in the doorway looking back at Yelena.*

Cassie: what adorable thing did she do this time that has you staring at her like she just rescued abandoned kittens?

Kate: she needs a bandaid.

Cassie: you are such a simp.

To get my one complaint out of the way:

The Young Avengers were not formed because "Hey there are multiple superheroes under the age of thirty"

They were formed because the Avengers were literally destroyed, and New York needed heroes

It was not this after school club

It was "there's so much villainy going on in this city, and Kang the fucking Conqueror is coming in three days. we are the only people with some link to the Avengers therefore we must stop this"

Eli became Patriot to honour his grandfather and fight crime

Teddy became Hulkling to protect people and figure out his identity

Billy became Asgardian/Wiccan to stand up for the little guy and to honour the Scarlet Witch

Kate became Hawkeye to beat up bad people and save the people with powers

Cassie became Stature to honour her father and carry on his legacy

Nathaniel became Iron Lad as an attempt to stop his evil future from coming to pass

Vision became a Young Avengers to honour Nathaniel and the original Vision

Tommy became Speed to right his wrongs

It was never "you're under thirty, I'm under thirty, wanna team up?"

Saw Florence’s insta video of her on the Thunderbolts set and I wanna write a fic where Kate sees Yelena with short hair. Imagine this:

Yelena shows up at Kate’s apartment after the movie…

Yelena: Kate Bishop! I am starving, do you want to order Chinese food takeout?

Kate: Y-Yelena?

She sees the short hair and short circuits immediately.

Kate: I-I mean—Y-You look—I need to—I—P-Peter’s calling, yep he’s calling and I-I’m gonna—I’ll be back!

She runs off to the rooftop, leaving behind a very confused Yelena who looks at Cassie who’s lounging on the couch.

Yelena: Is Kate Bishop okay? Is she sick?

Cassie mumbling: caught the gay fever that’s for sure

Yelena: What?

Cassie ¯\_(ツ)_/¯: you know Kate, she’s probably tired from training all day.

Yelena: Oh well then she needs to get some rest.

Cassie mumbling again: She definitely needs to get something.

Meanwhile…

Kate on the phone to Peter: Pete you don’t understand, she cut her hair!

Peter: And?

Kate: How am I supposed to function? She can’t just do that to me! She could’ve given me a warning!

Peter: Kate, I don’t see what’s the big deal.

Kate: Remember how you reacted when MJ got those red highlights?

Peter: Oh….OHHHH

Kate: Exactly

Peter: Good luck.
