here i am again to share my little head canons about the outsiders because i truly think these men would be silly and fun in modern times. their spotify wrappeds, however, would be strange.

Darry: Taylor Swift

the only justification I have for this is that a). Darry can be a little basic sometimes imo, and b). Taylor has some real bops that I can picture him singing along to in his truck. he would probs love her first album and jam to picture to burn and dislike every album after red.

he would definitely know all the words to bop to the top and I will take no further questions, thank you idk soda strikes me as someone who'd be into musical theatre and would also sympathize with the troy bolton character. this guilty pleasure would probs start after we're all in this together gets stuck in his head or something.

he strikes me as someone who unironically sings along to dancing queen and would be mortified if anyone knew it. he also def would know nothing about the band and be very surprised to find out they're Swedish.

with the accent and the boots, Two definitely seems like someone who already listens to country music. but specifically, i think kelly's breakaway album would be what he puts on for comfort music. can def picture him driving alone with since u been gone blasting.

he would absolutely appreciate tf out of boygenius for all the right reasons but consider them a guilty pleasure bc he thinks he'd be made fun of by the gang for liking them. also johnny is the same kind of adorable as julien baker and you cannot change my mind about it.

Dallas: Lana Del Rey

i feel like the fandom mostly agrees that Dally is lana del rey coded. but i think he'd also be balls deep in her unreleased tracks and sing along to you can be the boss or something in the shower. maybe he would share his fav track from born to die with the gang and get ruthlessly bullied for liking it and then never speak of lana in front of them again.

So. Gossip Girl ended. And now I want to talk about my ship! Makidrey! I would have done so anyways but I needed to even more since I promised I would a while back lol.

So, they broke up in the finale, Aki and Audrey stayed together despite their all for all or none for none promise, just like I predicted a while ago. Of course I'm not happy about it, but I'm glad that the showrunner already confirmed that Makidrey was the intended endgame at least. Like I know some people don't really consider Word of God, but I do, even if it's not the same as the thing actually being done and shown.

First of all, fuck Maudreys for making up fake leaks to mess with triad shippers. If it wasn't for y'all I would have worried less in the past few weeks, even though episode 8 (and 6/7 too kinda) actually made that seem plausible. Or idk, maybe you were the ones to fall for fake leaks and actually thought that would happen, which deserved.

It's actually hilarious how, after that, which made Maudreys and even others think they were going that route, in the next episode they went back to business as usual, with Max being the one feeling left out, which is in line with how the story was always framed. That helped me with predicting the finale would be more about whether the triad stays together or not, than Maudrey turning into a couple. Aki and Audrey are really joined at the hip.

Now, what I had wanted to talk about before this, which is: Episode 8, despite pointing out to Max and Audrey and Aki wanting out (because yes it would have been him wanting to break up, not Maudrey dumping him like their delusions lol), it actually showed why they wouldn't be so good as a couple. They're too messy, and Max can end up enabling Audrey's worst side.

I mean, I know some people don't care, and/or think Audrey was completely right about Julien, but clearly that was not what they were trying to say. They were obviously framing her whole plan to fuck over Julien at the store as the wrong thing to do, and Max helping her and saying "everything you did was out of love", while Aki had earlier in the episode told her to choose forgiveness and hoped she made things right with JC, shows how Aki is more in touch with what's actually healthier for her.

And that's why, not only Audrey, but both of them need him. Remember when Max had that whole thing with Rafa, and Aki was the one to look out for him and try to stop it? Max and Audrey are both chaotic, but thankfully Aki is there to be their voice of reason.

To be completely honest, had the shown gotten renewed, I think Maudrey getting together for angst and then realizing they need Aki would have actually been a better choice writing-wise! (though the hiatus would've been hell for me).

When they said they were cutting things I even wondered if Maudrey would be getting cut if the leaks were real. Akidrey having to realize they need Max is literally what season 1 was all about already! But well, since it got cancelled and this ended up being the series finale, I'm really glad they didn't. I'd rather Akidrey be the consequential "endgame" than Maudrey at least.

Honestly, I never thought people were really so against shipping poly ships before this. Makidrey was by all means the main ship of the show. Julien was THE main character but Jobie didn't get as much development as them, and their characters weren't as focused on the ship. I know their writing wasn't always the best, but it was ALWAYS, like from the trailer, obvious that they were meant to be, as a triad.

And they are, and they will be. Good for Akidreys I guess that they can consider them endgame, but it's so obvious from the episode, from the whole show, that the triad was the end goal. Idk why the sex was suddenly good again, but even that had happened randomly in 1B too, before they realized they needed Max. And even in Rome they still mention him, and are sad that they hurt him and that Max doesn't want to talk to them.

At the end of the day I'm still glad for this show, and for them. Goodbye GG. Makidrey forever. (not akimaudrey)

Alright y'all, I've been wondering about Alice since season 1. Like, she married Daniel and divorced him, had two daughters with him. She may totally be a character the show made up. But I have dug deep into the wiki and have made some discoveries. So, here are 2 characters that Alice could be based on:

This one is less likely, but I'm putting it first just to get it out of the way. She's Alice Mayfair. Her father was Remy Mayfair, brother to Julien Mayfair, aka the Julien they kept mentioning on the Mayfair Witches. Considering how they've moved the setting to present day (give or take a year or two), Alice could be possibly be around the same age as Daniel in the Immortal Universe. But she does have a daughter, Beatrice, that marries Aaron Lightner in the books. In the Immortal Universe, Aaron/Michael Curry were merged into Ciprien Grieve. So it's possible they could use her, and have Beatrice be one of Daniel's daughters. Just with an updated name, or she's going by her middle name. (If I was named Beatrice, I'd probably use Kate or Lenora/maybe Lenore? It looks like Lenora to me.)

2. This one is still related to the Mayfair Witches, but Alice isn't actually a Mayfair here. Let me explain. Cortland Mayfair, aka the worst uncle ever, from the Mayfair Witches, in the books had a half-brother named Gravier Blackwood, bc their dad was a big slut. And Gravier marries a woman named Alice. The wiki only lists her on his page, and with his last name. But they have a son together named Thomas Blackwood. Who has a daughter named Patsy. Who is the mother of Tarquin Blackwood, aka Quinn, the main character of Blackwood Farm. Which is a book in both the VC and Mayfair Witches. So we're probably going to see some version of it, in some future crossover episode. Rowan could even be there bc Gravier was half Mayfair, if the show wants to. And it could sort of tie Daniel into the story, like either Alice calls him up and is like, 'my grandkid needs help. Yeah, the one got from the son I had with the man I married after I divorced you. But he is our daughters' nephew' Or one of his daughters calls up and is like, 'my dumbass younger brother's kid is in a Situation, help out, you owe me.' And then Daniel helps him get in touch with Lestat, and the crew has a zany adventure.

Idk, I only read the book bc it crossed over with the VC books, I don't really remember much. I do remember there was an intersex vampire, who I just looked up named Petronia. (And I don't exactly remember Anne writing that in a way that was respectful. I actually think they use the h-word.) But she was a Roman gladiator who fought animals and shit. When she was 14. So she was pretty bad ass. In the books some vampire named Arion buys her and gives her money and frees her to do whatever tf she wants. Except she has nowhere to go and asks to stay with him, and he eventually turns her into a vampire.

But Arion kinda just vanishes from the books. Though he may have been mentioned and/or in one of the Prince Lestat books, bc I don't really remember much of them. (Getting through the second book was a slog.) So my idea is that they could make Marius her maker, as he was Roman, and the time periods are close enough. Plus Petronia also disappears from the books. I think it would fit with what we've learned about show Marius so far. Buying someone from an abusive place; takes her in to give her a better life, they become lovers, eventually he turns her. I just think it would be neat to have an actual intersex character, since gender is a bit loose when you're a vampire. I think it could give a unique perspective on gender. And also there need to be more intersex characters on TV; they make up over 2% of people in the world. And two percent may seem small, but that's 2% of over 8 billion people. That's 160 million people. They deserve to see people like them on screen as much as everyone else LGBT+ Remember when we called it LGBTQIA? That's the I. Though I hardly ever see them brought up, unless they're being used in arguments about the gender binary. (Which is so weird to me, bc once I learned that being intersex was a thing, I was like, so why do we only say there are two sexes, if there are literally more of them? And my mom was like, Idk how to answer this to a 7 yr old.)

This post got kinda ramblely. But I will mention one more thing. The vampire Sam Barclay, screenwriter and Talamasca agent, who was teased to be another character (tbh it's probably just Laurent or Everard de Landen) could possibly be based on Barclay Mayfair. Being a Mayfair would probably suck as a man, bc only the ladies get the magic juju (except Julien bc he's special). It would explain the Talamasca connection, bc we know they've been watching the Mayfair's for a long time. He could have got vamped after he started working for them. Probably not, but I know they're gonna eventually crossover all the different shows in the Immortal Universe. And they gave Santiago a bigger part on the show, so maybe?

I was thinking. How did I not think about how fucking autistic Hector is until now??? He is VERY autistic and that actually makes so much more sense to him than all of the other diagnosis I tried giving him. Mf just has the tism. Therefore I believe that Sophia ALSO has autism!!! FUCKING HELL!!!!!!

Which actually surprised me like sometimes I realize how little ocs I actually canonically affirmed are autistic (just like how rare it is for me to say an oc is canonically trans, I tend to just go "yeah they are trans" and forget it like an idiot). Literally only Julian (Julien? I forgot I'm so sorry my sweetest child...) was canonically autistic but now that I think about it I don't doubt that Hector, Sophia and Lara are also very much autistic! I just didn't think about it before!

Telma probably has adhd (she's one of the two canon trans ocs I have that I didn't forget are trans :3), maybe the same thing with Luciane? DUDE LUCIANE IS PROBABLY AUTISTIC WITH ADHD ASISASKAHSKHAHS WHYY DIDNT I THINK ABOUT THAT BEFORE... Bryan probably has bpd but I am really insecure about this diagnosis and Nancy probably has aspd (I've been pretty sure about his for a while, I also think he MAY be autistic but I am not sure tbh. The reason I'm insecure about Bryan's bpd diagnosis is that he was very based off myself askjksjkja and I tend to never really know what to do with characters that are based off myself).

Oh right forgot to mention Nancy is transmasc lol he's the second trans oc that I actually fucking remember is trans. Idk if it matters to anyone but since I'm just fucking rambling anyways, Lara is asian (Chinese ancestry) and Julian and Telma are black (still deciding their specific ancestries. The story is in brazil so I want to consider that when deciding it).

One thing I need the fandom to drop when it comes to Wu is them thinking he never talks about the ninja’s parents to them. It was never his information to disclose to Jay that he was adopted if he was even aware of that, it was up to Ed and Edna. If Jay’s mom had to make the tough decision of leaving her child behind and was never seen or heard from again despite being married to a movie star I don’t think she would’ve ran up the mountain to tell the Bros what just happened. I’m 75% sure he hardly even knew Dr. Julien or that Zane was a robot (poor guy probably couldn’t comprehend that robots could exist and be so human). Somewhere in the comics he holds a baby Cole and he was good friends with Lilly. Cole would’ve been surprised or confused when in S13 Wu says she never had a necklace like, “What do you mean? You knew my mother?” I feel at some point Cole either realizes he knows Wu from his childhood or Wu’s cryptically like “I remember you used to fight your parents on bedtimes constantly” and giggles

Yeah I’ve had a bit of time to think over the “Wu didn’t tell the ninja about their parents” and my blanket statement response would just be Wu couldn’t have told the ninja about their parents before their parents have even been conceptualised as characters.

The reason the ninja are continuously interesting for this many seasons is partially because their backstories weren’t told right at the beginning and they have room to develop and grow. Their parents characters are only introduced when it’s relevant to the plot, and are only canonically conceptualised right up to the season they get released. Which does make sense considering how many times the show was going to end. There’s no point planning seasons ahead of time if you aren’t sure those seasons will exist, otherwise you end up with unfinished and unsatisfying story arcs. The price of this is that the retcons contradict either Wu’s integrity or knowledge. Or do they?

Yeah I agree 100% with you on Jay’s mother. Wu probably doesn’t even know what happened to her, and considering what Nya said in s5, that elemental powers can skip generations, Wu may not have been sure Jay was her child. But even if he was, if Ed and Edna hadn’t told Jay, then it’s not really up to Wu, or at least he shouldn’t be held accountable more than Ed and Edna.

With Cole, I don’t think Wu really withheld any information about Lilly. I haven’t seen anyone debate this yet so maybe Cole doesn’t apply lol, but yeah I think Wu has been transparent about her probably. I mean considering how Wu and Cole were close, and Cole told Wu about her death as seen in s8/9 in his flashback. I haven’t seen the comics so idk how true this is (I don’t really consider the comics truly canon anyways) but I sometimes hc that Lilly kept her identity as master of earth from her family as sort of a way of dividing her work and home life, which is why Cole’s dad was originally against him being a ninja.

I also think that Wu knew Dr Julien (not very well) but didn’t know he died or got kidnapped afterwards and when he discovered Zane as a loner, and realised he didn’t remember, Wu told him that Zane had a family and that they’d look for him (which was a fruitless search bc dr Julien was at a lighthouse at sea) BECAUSE LOOK

…anyways. I think this argument is strongest with Kai and Nya’s parents. In my personal opinion I still think maybe they didn’t want Wu to tell them due to them feeling as if their parents abandoned them on purpose? Idk that’s just a theory based on how quick Kai was to turn on his dad and how much beef Nya had with her mum. Although I still think that Wu offscreen told the siblings what he knew if they asked, or that he’d make off hand comments about how cool their parents were (they were friends). Or maybe he didn’t out of fear of pressuring them. I’d feel like he’d relate considering his own father. Maybe that’s the whole reason why he didn’t tell Nya about her water powers. Because she was doing so well as a samurai and didn’t want her to live through that pressure.

Idk I think there are so many cool options when trying to make sense of Wu that I feel like it’s a shame no one sees that potential. On that note, thanks anon now I have generated more ideas about Wu and I really want to make something out of them now :P

Can I just say I find it kinda hard to read some of the fanfiction for the new gossip girl? Like it's nothing that I can't get past but there's 3 characters who are in a poly relationship and a lot of the storyline in season 1 is getting to that poly relationship especially the second half. So when people add in original characters to the story, you kind of have to think of it as an alternate universe where none of this poly stuff happened. But then one of the guys came out as bi kind of because of the other guy and I know that can still happen but a large part of both of their story is getting with max as all 3 of them develop so when they add in an original character to get with one of them or even two of them usually replacing the girl in the relationship, to me it feels like they took away all, or at least most of their story. And this story is probably the only reason I'm still watching because the other most interesting characters don't get enough screen time. They're too busy going through sibling drama for the millionth time in 1 season and having 3 different girls for the same guy who doesn't even have that much of a personality and isn't that good looking. I really hope he gets some sort of character development. He was also the best friend of the guy who came out as bisexual and wondered if that meant he'd liked him. Meanwhile they're addressing things like consent but also kind of trying to make you still like the character dealing with sexual assault charges because he's a good father and seems willing to accept consequences but at the same time he still kind of took advantage of a bunch of girls while they were drunk so they couldn't remember anything. And then the teacher who fucked a student grows more of a conscience than the teachers running the gossip girl page. And they complain about not getting Christmas bonuses but considering the one complaining about this is the main one who's been doing gossip girl, and other teachers knew about it, you just feel like maybe some of the teachers didn't deserve that bonus because they're gossip girl and if anything they're lucky to even still have jobs. Like, putting it like this you realise how fucked this show is but when you watch it it's easy to forget. Idk like it has potential but the writing is kind of sucky and the characters seem to kind of develop but then go back and just forget any of their development. Like juliens just got her presence back from the allegations against her dad and the next episode she's back to the mean it girl act despite knowing how easy it is to fall. I hate this show but it has this odd charm that made me watch an entire season of it and I'll probably watch season 2 as well

Also Kate makes me think of those girls who are mean girls but think they're actually the one getting bullied

I’m not into shows as much as movies overall, but there are some that I am very passionate about so I picked twenty again. So, here we go for part 2, in order:

1. Avatar: The Last Airbender/The Legend Of Korra (2005-2014)

I'm including these as one show since they take place in the same universe and tell a continuation of the same overall plot. Altogether this is probably the best piece of media to ever exist, including movies. It has so many great characters and villains especially and some of the most epic sequences, charming humor and heartwarming moments ever. I've never met a person who didn't like these shows, even people who normally don't like cartoons. My dad, who is biased against animation? He loved it. My mother? She loved it, watched it with her multiple times. My grandmother? Loved it. My ex-boyfriend? Loved it. My best friend? Loved it. I dare anyone not to, and I'm so glad it's making a resurgence since it's on Netflix for a new generation to enjoy.

2. Black Butler (2008-2014)

I never was big into anime growing up and only really started watching anime when I was like 16 and above, but this is one of the exceptions because holy shit is it ever dark and epic. I'm not sure I'd really recommend it for kids, it's more of a teens and young adults kind of anime and that's probably why it's so good, because it isn't afraid to explore dark and mature topics and do it with all of the intensity and gravitas required to do said topics justice. It has lots of great characters, and the story of demons who make deals with children who have a dark side is fun to watch play out.

3. Seinfeld (1989-1998)

My dad was a huge fan of this show so I watched it growing up since I was a toddler and it became a classic for me. I've watched thw hole show through at least 8 times, and I'll never stop because it never gets old or boring. It's also my only comfort show when I'm having a panic attack because of one time a few years ago when I was having a drug-induced psychosis episode and watching it calmed me down, so now it's like the opposite of a trigger and whenever I'm having an episode or something I watch it to bring me back to reality. For that reason it's more than a show to me, it's a medical treatment and I'm forever grateful to it.

4. The Good Place (2016-2020)

The big four shows made my Michael Schur all made it on this post (The Good Place, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Office and Parks And Recreation), either in the main list of the honorable mentions, but this is my personal favorite of the four. It's so funny, quirky, relatable and basically tailor-made to suit my interests. Not only is it an entertaining and wholesome show, but I think watching it helped me come to terms with a lot of things like mortality, ethics, philosophy, religion and my relationships with other people. It gets  alot of different viewpoints across and if you're a very analytical and philosophical person like me you'll probably enjoy seeing it all play out. Not to mention, every single character is 'favorite character' material. It's rare you find a show with no filler characters in the main cast, but I genuinely can't choose who is best.

5. Brooklyn Nine-Nine (2013-?)

Another of Michael Schur's shows, this one is just barely under The Good Place and to be honest it was tough to pick my favorite between the two because they're both equally funny. I know it's kind of controversial right now because of the whole law enforcement thing, but I actually think they do a good job of handling social issues in the show and remaining respectful of real-life systemic problems. As for the characters, this is another one of those shows where every single character is gold and I think that tends to be a trend among Schur's shows in general. He produces damn good comedy, and damn good characters. I can't wait to see what they bring next.

6. Rick And Morty (2013-?)

This is unfortunately one of those cases of 'great show, horrible fandom' and for that reason I don't get involved in the fandom even though I love the show. It's a shame because it really is a great show, so funny and, again, such good characters. I think it's a lot more accessible than the fandom likes to claim, so I'm hoping more people will give it a chance and not get put off by the intellectual elitism of the fandom because it does have some of the most entertaining and batshit crazy episodes ever, poking fun of some of the staples of science fiction in media while also poking fun of itself the whole time. Unlike the fandom, the show doesn't take itself seriously and that's enjoyable nowadays.

7. Orange Is The New Black (2013-2019)

While this show is a comedy, it is also a lot of other things and it's probably made me ugly-cry just as many times as it's made me laugh. Well, maybe not as often, but those few scenes (if you've watched the show then you know the ones I'm talking about) made me hysterically sob hard enough to be worth like fifty minor sads. But I didn't even mind because the show is just that good, and it makes you /feel/ something in a real way. Probably because of just how real it gets in terms of telling stories that happen all the time in the real world, sometimes with inevitably tragic endings. But these things do happen every day, and it's important to shine a light on that. It's not just representation for LGBTQ+ but also for POC, the neurodiverse, the poor, and many more. Give it a watch to broaden your perspective!

8. Big Mouth (2017-?)

This is probably the grossest show I've ever seen but by god is it ever funny. Maybe it's because I have an immature sense of humor or something, but I love this show. It definitely won't be everyone's cup of tea and I don't recommend you watch this show with anyone else around because it will get awkward. I think part of its appeal to me is that everyone I talk to who likes it considers it so relatable to their lives growing up but for someone like me who grew up on the autism and asexual spectrum and who was physically an early-bloomer by years, nothing about this show is relatable to me in any way so it makes it all the more crazy and bizarre watching how the people around me must have experienced things. Did y'all really have these experiences with puberty in middle school???

9. Dexter (2006-2013)

I recently heard that this show is coming back for a reboot soon and I'm so excited because this is my absolute favorite drama/thriller show, as evidenced by the fact that it's the highest one on the list so far that isn't a comedy. I love the idea of having a protagonist who is sort of a villain (or at least morally dubious), and the idea of a serial killer who only kills bad people is particularly satisfying for some reason. Maybe because he's the vigilante we all deserve and want in this unjust and evil world of modern times? Idk but the very premise of this show set it up for big things and aside from the ending I think it delivered consistently.

10. Once Upon A Time (2011-2018)

This show took us on some journeys, and you can't deny that. Sure, maybe it didn't always finish what it started and didn't always end in the most satisfying way, but part of its charm is that you didn't care because the experience was just so much fun. They took characters and stories that have been told to death and somehow managed to put a unique and unexpected twist on them, and that alone is admirable. Good twists, good villains, and pretty much every cliffhanger known to man will keep you hooked on binge-watching every episode.

11. RuPaul's Drag Race (2009-?)

A bit different than the other entries on my list in that it's not fiction but a reality competition show, but I couldn't leave Drag Race out because it's just so fucking iconic and perfect. Even when you disagree with the judges or can't stand a certain contestant you'll still be having a good time. It's got the personalities you love to love, the ones you love to hate, and the comedy that's completely meme-able. I mean just how much has this show contributed to pop culture and the internet? More than most of us, henny. I've watched every single season, even the international ones and all of the spinoffs. This show will probably be on for another thirty years when Ru is throwing shade from a hospital bed and I'll still be watching.

12. House (2004-2012)

Some people hate on this show, and I don't get it. I love House. Yes, he's an ass. That's the point. He's supposed to be unlikeable, and that's why I like him. Maybe because I always love the rude, sarcastic, misanthropic jerkass-genius characters for some reason. And I also love procedural shows, so it's a win-win. I also work in the healthcare field so it appeals to me for that reason too, because obviously the whole premise is outlandish which is what makes it funny. Of course it's not realistic for a hospital, so just enjoy the absurdity and don't get too hung up on the details of medical accuracy and professional ethics and you'll be fine.

13. The Office (2005-2013)

The third of Michael Schur's show and the last one that made the main list (sorry Parks And Rec, I love you too but there was just so many good shows to choose from and I saw you last so the nostalgia isn't as strong!) I don't think I need to hype this show up any, it's already a classic and you can't even turn around online without getting hit in the face by a dozen Office memes. You'll have to pry this show and it's relatable characters (especially Michael Scott) from my cold, dead hands.

14. All Hail King Julien/The Penguins Of Madagascar (2008-2017)

Like Avatar/Korra, I also consider this as one show for the sake of this list because it also takes place in the same universe (Madagascar, specifically) and I just couldn't choose one over the other because they're both so perfect. They're funny and I love all the characters (it cut out the weaker links of the Madagascar film series and just focuses on expanding the standout side-characters like King Julien and the penguins). It also delved into some lore, particularly the first show, and even though I didn't also agree with the directions it took (you may have seen me get salty about the ending because I cared too much), I can't deny how much I love it.

15. Bones (2005-2017)

One of the other scarce non-comedy shows on this list, it still has it's funny moments. It's also, like House, another procedural show that involves some medical stuff, but this time on a more scientific and forensic level which is even more interesting. It's nice to see a lead female with Asperger's, too. There's a lot of cop/law enforcement shows where they try to solve crimes, but this one is the best, and I'm saying that as a fan of CSI as well. Don't fight me on this, I'm right. Oh yes, it's corny, it's campy, it's cheesy, but I love every minute of it. Don't watch if you have a weak stomach though.

16. The Simpsons (1989-?)

We all grew up with this show, don't lie. It's been around longer than most people on tumblr have even been alive. Should it have ended seasons ago? Hell yes. But that doesn't take away what the first like 20 or so seasons gave us (there's a lot of argument about when the show jumped the shark, for me it wasn't until much later than the popular consensus). The characters are amazing, but the secret to the show's longevity is that they always return to status quo and there's comfort and nostalgia in that. Bart will still be in 4th grade when you're out there pushing 90. This show is persistent. This show is eternal. This show will outlive us all.

17. Ash Vs. Evil Dead (2015-2018)

Sorely underrated. This show is hilarious, gruesome and campy as hell and I love it. I don't think you necessarily have to watch the Evil Dead movies beforehand in order to get the plot of the show, although it would probably help. In my opinion this show ended way too soon and I'm hoping someday we'll get a comeback because Ash is the reluctant, self-absorbed hero we all need and it's 2020 so at this point there really might actually be a demon-zombie apocalypse and who's gonna save us then if not for the impulsive womanizer with a chainsaw for a hand?

18. Malcolm In The Middle (2000-2006)

Another show I grew up with, I don't think it gets as much credit as it deserves. It has some damn funny episodes and great characters, and it did a lot of the popular sitcom tropes before they were 'cool'. Some other great sitcoms, The Middle in particular, took a lot of influence from this show and it helped pave the way for the future of sitcoms at a time when they were about to make a comeback. If you want a good show about the real experiences of growing up, this is a much more accurate representation of the highs and lows of being an awkward tween from a dysfunctional home.

19. A Series Of Unfortunate Events (2017-2019)

Unlike most people I actually liked the movie version from the early 2000's, and I read the books growing up so I was excited when I saw there was a live action television adaptation of it on Netflix because I felt like they cancelled the movie franchise too soon. I was interested to see how new actors would handle the roles, and I was not disappointed. I wouldn't say I liked either portrayal of the characters better or worse, they both added their own twist to it and this show is a great and loyal adaptation to the books, probably because the author was so heavily involved. He knew just when to stick to the books and when to improve upon what he had done with the benefit of hindsight. This show is basically the books, but remastered.

20. Winx Club (2004-?)

Sort of an odd one out on this list, but I really love this show even as an adult and it may surprise you to learn it is still going on and the most recent season came out last year. They take big breaks sometimes in between seasons, but it's still going strong and in multiple countries. The only thing I don't like about watching this show is all the different and inconsistent dubs since the original show is Italian and each dub only goes for a couple seasons so by the time you get used to one set of voices/names for the characters oyu have to abruptly switch to another, but it's still worth it for the beautiful animation and cool characters (especially the villains!)

Gossip Girl Reboot, Ep. 2 Reaction / Review

This was posted on reddit first, crossing posting it here since I’ve chosen to review the ep’s and post on tumblr as well. So, this post is geared more towards reddit as a whole, this was posted a day after ep 2 aired.

i don't have a favorite character rating but #teamaki, yeah, the acting is awkward but it's getting better and it's not like it's the only bad acting in the show. i like the character either way.

people are so extra with zoya and obie and are looking at julien with the rose colored classes. yeah, obie shouldn't be dating zoya but let's not act like julien gave her all and everything to him. from the conversation with zoya in ep 1, his general feelings, audrey calls it out (maybe because she always feels that way)

She admits it at the end, she wouldn’t do the things he wanted when it came to his interest, he’d want to do random and fun things and she’d blow him off...how is this mart of someone fully invested in their other, no, she was invested what he did for her and how he made her feel. She misses him because in their other breaks he’d always come back. We saw a dying relationship and ppl can assume a lot about him but make 0 assumptions when it comes to her.

And then y’all expect Zoya to turn down the one person who’s actually nice, doesn’t ice her out and shares interest? What I want more than anything is for Zoya to find her own friends & her romantic interest, just one episode where her life isn’t an extension of Julien's. Idk wut, maybe she can go off on a find out gossip girl adventure. Idk something.

Then this talk about sisters and sister hood. Yeah, they’re blood related but what sisterhood is there? You say that’s is wrong for Zoya to do that to her sister but what about what her sister did to her? Even in this ep, she wants Obie so instead of idk driving Zoya away from him, she attacks her lil ‘sis’ over her long time boyfriend. She continues to let her friends talk bad about the girl. We can talk sister hood when she gives the mean team a good “learn me or leave me” when it comes to Zoya

At the of ep 1 Zoya says, she’s not playing the game. She’s grounded in fear of losing her scholarship, has already lost her dads trust. So she does that, she keeps her head down and doesn’t bother anyone but it’s the mean team to prompt Julien to after Zoya and she does. She’s minding her business at the even and Julien is the one to storm over and cause a scene. And it’s all about her, she’s scared of her dad finding out without any care that Zoya has lost and what she has left to lose. Of course she doesn’t care about Julien personal problems? When did Julien care really about hers? Then, she wants to sneak away and have fun and because she’s mad Zoya won’t run off and hide like a hood little girl, she once again collabs with GG, brings in the dads and fucks her sisters life up, AGAIN. Yeah, she changed her mind at the end but too little too late. Her come to jesus moment was great but the relationship she wanted/wants it very much damaged.

So yeah, Zoya dating the one person who has empathy for her is not as bad as the older sister who consistently let her be talked down, about and two, plotted with GG and didn’t even ask her if she was okay because, she didn’t mean it, it’ll blow over. Even in the very last apology when Zoya was about to leave, you could see that she had 0 faith in Julien, not only as a sister but as a person.

Which leads me to saying that Julien is probs the most interesting character of the show. She’s lovable and flawed and she is good but she as of right now, she’s mean at worst and horribly complicit at best because right now her career is a bit more important but her 14 year old sister doesn’t deserve the headache of navigating her with her. But I do love Julien because she has layers and I think by the end, she’ll be able to have her influencer career without compromising herself. That does lead us to the the chairmen and co-chair of the mean team.

Monet and Luna weren’t around as much but I do think...I do think...that if Julien goes nice, they’re gonna go super nasty. They have access to her life which mean access to that video if Julien didn’t out right delete it or they find out about it and snooping. They’re her friends but unlike her, they don’t have a much of a Conscious so far of right and wrong and they’ll strike anyone down. I think if we have wild cards, they’re it. If Julien really does go down a new path, learns more to fight for what matters and understand the real her is just as likable, the mean duo will not accept and will try and bring her down. They have their own meaning of friends with benefits.

My dude Obie, I can’t say much. I don’t think he’s as Malicious as y’all make him out to be but he is a bit callous and naïve...which could be worse tbh. I think he does want to do good but he only knows Performative good to counter-act his parents. I do want him to get with someone else but I do hope he learns what true activism means through Zoya and understand how much of a difference he could make if he really put his mind to it. I also want him to learn get out quick, because he wasn’t just looking for a reason to end things but one to stay and Julien didn’t give him that.

Audrey, I like the stuff with her mom. I like the little bit more depth we got, she slept with Max maybe but Aki made out with him, who am I to judge? I hope her mon can step up in the future but I don’t think it’ll be easy and hopefully they explore it more. Not just tease us. Her mom needs therapy but I think I'm a bit invested in her too.

Max, I love max but the dude is Pretentious ~ above earthly love ~ low key a shitty friend and talks in metaphors whenever he has the chance BUT he does it well. I don’t see him with Aki but I want it! I do see him going harder after Audrey but I think he was a bit shocked for all his flirting that he was into the kids with Aki. I think he lives to play with people. I don't know if he really likes Audrey but he does want to bang her, a lot, a lot a lot. I don't think he really wanted to sleep with Aki but he did like playing with him and he could pick up the fact that Aki might be feeling him. I don't think the interest was really, real until Aki kissed him at the pool, home boy was shocked and was like oooo maybe something is there but his focus is on the teacher. And I also think the not in a million years thing had his gears turning too. You tell him it can't or won't happen and now he wants to make it happen.

Aki, my baby, my voice of reason. What makes him great as a person, makes him not great for Audrey when it comes to emotional stuff. He means well and I get where he's coming from with wanting Audrey to understand her mom but she did need a partner. The thing she loves about him is the thing that makes it hard. I don't know how Aki was brought up but I feel like this plays into it, she's always comparing him to a therapist. I wonder if his parents a bit more emotionally cold or curt or just very analytical people. But, like he's been lovely since ep one, the only one of the group to sort of defend Zoya or Julien wanting to know her / keep her secret. (What secrets does he have?) And in ep 2, he really was like 'ya'll fucked in the head' to the mean team. I know some consider him boring because he doesn't speak up often but when he does speak up, he got something to say. I want the show to use him in a way to stir drama just by being friends, his character doesn't have to have a dramatic effect and he could get his own little subplot that's tied into the show but like, my can't become some douche. (If he does, only for a bit.) Now, I don't see Max being endgame for him AT ALL. If it's between the two, Max would go for Audrey for sure while leading my boi on in ways, he could even really start to like him but endgame no. I'd love to see a scene with Max does get jealous of Aki with another dude, in a romantic way or the dude could be hitting on him, I think Aki would be able to humble him just a bit because no one really seems to know what he's thinking. In the end, idk who he ends up with but I want him to find someone who will do my dude right and he should get some non-shitty friends who'll listen to his problems. (Still not over that Max)

The teachers while being shown more, don't have much of a presence. It's mainly Kate and the goofy one for extended scenes. KATE MY GOOD SIS. NO. Please, I want this to be the point where she loses GG somehow and someone takes over or maybe another GG pops up, can market better and isn't willing to have a faltering moments. I want it to spiral. Spiral hard. Also, sexy teach said not on my watch ezra! I stan him. Teachers are still fun for me, they make me want to never teach at a dumb rich private school.

Also, fuck the dads within reason. Esp, Julien's dad but only because we got to see Zoya's more and he is kinda in the right about most of the stuff but not the sister stuff. You can tell he's doing his best to instill morals in his daughter esp when he knows she can fall to outside influences.

Overall, I'm still enjoying it, I'm invested. I see room for growth for all of the characters (maybe not the teachers) and I want to see it play out. It does feel a little rushed but I think they're finding their footing and they have some big things to pull. But's not horrible and if they just play the drama bit longer and then conclude, it wouldn't feel that way. Maybe one more episode or half an episode could've been added to the Zoya-Obie-Julien story line to fully flush it out but I like the ending. Not sisters, not friends but cool with each and possibly re-build, at worst they just don't interact. I noticed some cool things with the promos but I need to confirm when I can find the one for 3.

Mercy Me - Part One

Summary: Jacqueline Laymore can’t really tell when it started to hurt to call Spencer her friend. But that didn’t really matter after she got kidnapped. Right now all that matters is getting home and getting Spencer Reid.

Warnings: Angsty? Mentions of self harm, suicidal ideation, death, kidnapping, is catholic guilt a warning? culty vibes, mentions of torture, and a very small mention of rape and gouging one’s eyes out.

Word Count: 1.3k (its a babey for the first part)

A/N: this is one of my first fanfictions on tumblr and in this fandom, so idk be nice or like really mean, criticize me, i don’t really mind. i used to write aphmau fanfiction nothing really hurts at this point. also this is an original female character fic because i for real can not write fic in the y/n format and i’ve had this idea for a while. it took a lot of effort to post this without puking in anxiety first but i hope it goes well ig.

If Jacqueline was going to die right then and there, she would have frankly been pissed. Sitting in the bathtub with blood seeping out of shallow cuts on her thighs would not be a great way to go. It’s especially stupid because they weren’t even new. Jacqueline knew better than to cut in the tub.

Especially since she’d been clean before the incident.

She wondered if that was the time to back up and take a second to think. Think about her wrongdoings.

Of course, Gabriel doesn’t give her the release of death and instead shot himself in the neck. Her eyes, always the worst part of her body, follow the arterial spray as it stains the yellowing ceilings. She almost wants to take the revolver and shoot herself in the head, but that would contaminate the crime scene.

Jacqueline is smarter than that. But the revolver is so close to her. Yet just out of reach. 

Everything seems to be just out of reach when you’re kidnapped. 

But everything is moot compared to the digging feeling in her stomach telling her that the gun still has five more rounds. 

She doesn’t. Of course, there is more to her life than being a martyr for another’s sins. That isn’t what Father Julien said when she was younger, but Father Julian also tried to gouge out her eyes in the town square.

Father Julian did a lot of things, talking about the grace of God wasn’t one of them. But what can you really expect from a man that creates a psychopath? Jacqueline dug the heels of her hands into her eyes, creating swirling patterns behind her eyelids. Phosphenes. She can hear him say it. Spencer always made sure to tell her the weirdest facts he could remember. She can’t remember most of them but sometimes his voice pops up in her head reminding her of them.

A lot of things pop up in Jacqueline’s head these days. She smoothed her hair back with the water on her hands and stepped awkwardly out of the tub. Taking two towels from the rack on the wall, she wrapped up her hair and body. Carefully stepping around Gabriel’s body and blood pool she enters the bedroom. For a cheap motel, it was quite clean. Frankly, it wouldn’t be half bad if the carpet wasn’t a brown color and she didn’t come with the guy who kidnapped her. She dug through Gabriel’s luggage until she found yet another, white cotton sundress. It wasn’t a bad dress, quite pretty in reality. It was the situation that made it the ugliest rag Jacqueline had ever seen. It fell to just below her knees and the bodice fit her waist perfectly, the spaghetti straps dug into her shoulders but it could have been much, much worse. 

Jacqueline would have liked the dress in another life. However, Gabriel had a thing for the whole ‘white equals purity’ thing and tortured her in a dress similar to the one she was putting on.

She stopped putting the dress on. Blinking through the tears forming in her line of sight, Jacqueline searches for a shirt and a pair of pants that could maybe fit her. She found Gabriel’s taupe button-up and slipped it over her shoulders, buttoning the front up to the third button. After digging a little more she finds a pair of army green pants, a little too high waisted for such a masculine man but she puts them on. Luckily Gabriel also had a pair of hiking boots which Jacqueline took the shoelace out of and used it as a belt.

The sandals that she wore when out with Gabriel would have to do, though it looked a little silly. Jacqueline took her hair out of the towel and ruffled it up a little, she always hated leaving her thick, wavy hair without product in it but it’s better than brushing it. The bangs brushing against the bridge of her nose are going to make her cry though. She used to hate how she looked in bangs but now, with Gabriel’s praises ringing in her ears, she almost likes the way they frame her face.

Almost.

Jacqueline grabbed Gabriel’s wallet on the way out of their hotel room.

The secretary looked at Jacqueline funny as she checked out. Granted, it was well deserved, Jacqueline looked like a mess of men’s clothing. She also was leaving without Gabriel, which sounded a little unheard of considering he didn’t even let her speak when they checked in.

Jacqueline wanted to call the police so the maid didn’t get a nasty surprise. She didn’t have a phone on her but she walked to the payphone on the street corner and quickly called 911. 

“Hi, Hello. Y-yes… I… I need to report a suicide at Maple Leaf Motel, room 3C. My… My p-partner shot himself in the neck!” She wailed into the phone before hanging up. She was always good at faking things. Right now, faking composure seems to be the only thing keeping her sane.

Time to catch a flight to Quantico, Virginia.

Or, more likely, hitchhike. If there was anything Jacqueline had learned in her nine years with the BAU is to not hitchhike. But she had about two hundred and fifty dollars and the clothes on her back. And if anything she could pay for some gas and maybe use the self-defense that Morgan taught her. She knew that from where she was it would be around twenty days by foot. A twenty-hour car ride. And maybe a five-hour flight depending on the airport. The closest 'big' town near Maple Leaf was Lexington. 

And deep down, Jacqueline really wanted to take a road trip. Nebraska is quite a pretty state. Though walking would be a little excessive considering she's technically been off for two months already.

The fact that she’d been with Gabriel for two months sent shivers down Jacqueline’s spine. The bureau wouldn't take her vacation days away for being kidnapped but you never really know with the government, do you? She started walking to the library when she realized that she could email Strauss and talk about her job and how fast she can be reinstated. Luckily the library was a few blocks down the street.

"Hello, dear! What can I help you with today?" The elderly woman behind the help desk smiled. Jacqueline figured that they didn't get that many people inside the small library. 

Jacqueline forced a smile and walked up to the desk, "Can I use one of the computers? I need to email my boss about my... vacation."

The librarian gives Jacqueline a sugary sweet smile. "May I, Deary," The librarian corrected.

"Right," Jacqueline drawls. The librarian walked her to a clunky old computer and logged on before shoving Jacqueline down into the seat. Jacqueline goes through google to find her email service and quickly write one to Strauss. Strauss responded quickly, a short email reading:

Dear Agent Laymore,

You're thought to be dead. I can not grant you the ability to step into your building for recertification and discussions of reinstating you until you prove otherwise.

You're supposed to be nicer to people who are held as a hostage. Anyways, I guess a way to prove my identity would be that I can sing 'On My Own' from Les Mis perfectly, I know you have heard me do it. And that your husband divorced you after he gave you half of his liver due to your liver cirrhosis. You told me this one night when I was crying over my brother killing himself and getting disowned. Favorite thing about them: He should not be in a kids show yet he conned his way in there by being baby and I commend him incredibly for that

Least favorite thing about them: idk if this is about him really but as much as I loved his development in Exiled I feel like it confirmed too much and he would have been a better character if left a bit more of an enigma. They kinda made him too concise there I think.

BroTP: He and Clover have got something special. I love how she has a soft spot for him like she still finds him cut and when she has to kick him out she's like "sorry bud" and she still kinda babys him and in return he kinda leans into his babyness around her and is less awful.

OTP: As sensual as he can get I do not consider him one of the flesh and therefore doesnt experience relationships in a way that could be considered a romance. Maybe Smart Mort, they could cuddle in his brain.

NoTP: p much everyone, but like definitely him and julien, that's just not right.

Based opinion, I respect your take on things and it’s good to have a gage on what ppl mean when they talk about this crit.

I do think that like half of it is the huge amounts of retconning in s4-7s lore regarding how elemental masters work, and like the parents. I mean I think there’s way to kinda explain things but at that point I feel like I’m also biased. At least with Jay, I don’t think elemental powers have to be close blood related since if someone has no descendants you’d assume the powers would be passed on to someone else regardless (that’s what they said about Morro’s power). Maybe Wu tried to find Zane’s father later when he saw Zane with no memories in the forest, and after failing to find his father, had no clue then on. Maybe Wu didn’t realise Zane was a robot on his first visit either.

I think a large portion of Wu’s unpopularity is that he’s a personification to the child soldier esqu aspect of most kids shows. And I think it’s more of a problem with that particular trope.

For me, the biggest flaw in his writing is that he’s not really presented as a flawed individual at least in the wilfilm portion of Ninjago. Using another shows mentor figure trope as an example, Monkie Kid’s Monkey King is also a well meaning, heroic, knowledgeable mentor with responsibility and authority over his student, but he’s written with intentional flaws that make sense for his character, and they have consequences and are acknowledged and are important in universe. I don’t think Wu is a bad character because he’s got flaws but because they aren’t presented as such I guess. Idk the omniscient smartass mentor is an annoying trope and I get it. But I do like his flaws and trust issues I think they’re interesting and cool to explore, like I feel like it might be a generational thing with his father and stuff. I think the fact that he’s not the most responsible parent figure (especially compared to like Garmadon lol) is also interesting and could have been explored as he kinda assembled the team out of necessity and desperation despite not really knowing what he’s doing himself. But it’s only well done in the show if it’s acknowledged and he character develops, but they don’t get that focus. Idk he’s got potential but i understand why it doesn’t live up to it.

I’d still say the specific criticism in question (not just general wu criticisms) is still wack, especially considering that he probably didn’t have an idea where Julien went or if he was dead, and like maybe if he knew about Jay’s adoption, he wanted to let Ed and Edna tell him. And neither of those situations actually have a scene for the line anyways. And in the context of villains and enemies, because this joke is made in those contexts, it makes less sense. But I do get where your coming from. Overall interesting take! Even if I don’t agree with everything it was an informative read and I get it a little more.

Okay I’ve got beef. Peace and love to all of you but I have Ninjago beef How many times has Wu said “There’s something I haven’t told you yet?” Because I feel like every time there’s a villain that he’s met before it’s kinda just justified that he hadn’t yet told the ninja? And also certain pieces of information? Like Morro and Aspheera, the two Wu-focused villains are literally villains because Wu told them too much. This criticism is doesn’t make sense to me at all and I’m gonna ramble about it below. (Disclaimer my opinion if you disagree with me dw abt it you’re cool)

Like villains wise, he’s told the ninja about Garmadon like it’s one of the first things he tells Kai. I don’t know if he even knew about the overlord, considering that was his father’s enemy. Chen was locked away on an island so why would Wu tell the ninja about him yknow? Like Wu lived in a monastery away from the city idk if he even knew that Chen ran a noodle business. And why would Wu tell the ninja about Morro? One that feels kinda personal and two, why would he be worried if Morro came back, he was dead!

The first time I feel like this applies is with Nya’s powers but I feel like this can be explained with the fact that he trained the og 4 and Lloyd out of necessity due to the prophecy they’re all in. He’s not going to train Nya when 1) he had 5 students already and maybe that’s already a handful, 2) it was an attempt to keep her safe 3) she became samurai x and had her own thing. He only trained Nya as the water ninja because again, necessity. And Ik he used to have other students but I think Morro’s story implies that he trained them as a way for searching for the green ninja, so again it’s out of necessity.

The second time I think the joke applies is with Acronix but that was very intentional and it’s about how Wu is trying to face his own enemies on his own instead of leaving them to his students. Which, tbf, I think is valid, if he didn’t like lose. He’s trying not to put that pressure on already pretty busy kids. It’s not a perfect solution but it’s a tough situation and I think it’s an understandable decision.

I’m not sure Wu knew about the dragon and Oni thing and he was a baby by the time it was relevant. Maybe he did but in a world where there are barely any Oni and dragons, it’s not a very relevant thing to bring up, especially when effectively he’s human.

And then there’s aspheera. Who, like Morro, Wu also did not expect to return at all, considering the last time he saw her was when he was a child and that was several centuries ago. Like do you want him to set up a class where he just trauma dumps about every bully he had in middle school?? He is so old I’m pretty sure every warlord that ever existed in Ninjago has beef with him. Also none of the other seasons are even connected to Wu’s past. Seabound has Wojira and Nya’s but that’s like, Wu’s dad’s past.

And character wise it makes complete sense that Wu doesn’t tell ppl stuff. The two personal villains to Wu are literally villains BECAUSE Wu told them stuff. He told Morro about the green ninja prophecy and the guy DIED. Yeah it makes sense that Wu the prophecy from the ninja. And he told Aspheera the secret to spinjitzu and she used it to overthrow the serpentine. Like these two are villains because he told them too much. So it makes sense that he doesn’t really want to tell other people things anyways.

I didn’t even used to like Wu that much but every time someone makes that joke, it makes no sense to me and it makes me upset and pushes me further into stanning. I only like Wu bc Wu slander upsets me because it just feels like misconceptions and inaccurate interpretations. And yeah there’s no right or wrong opinion on a show and if you have an opinion then let’s go. It just feels bad when a certain interpretation is widely popular despite not really being supported in the show. Or maybe it is supported in show, and I just don’t see it. Idk, either someone needs to explain it to me or I need less tumblr. But yeah every time anyone makes a “something I haven’t told you yet” joke my attachment to Wu gets stronger, because I spend so much time going over in my head why he makes sense.
