#its silly but I feel self conscious of making those ''art from each month'' collages at the end of every year #bc every one of them feels like its colored in a different way and I dont have a consistent color palette everythiing looks out of place #I feel unorganized and idk if the coloring type/artstyle defines how much engagement i'll get #I feel like I dont have a proper identity and that interferes with getting engagement and followers #sometimes I make fully rendered art that doesnt do well and wonder if it were in a simpler sketchy style it would get more attention #I admire people who have a very consistent color palette and style so that I can immediately tell its theirs #ik having different art styles is not a bad thing but 😭#i feel like my artstyle is all over the place it makes my portfolio look messy like I dont have a direction to go yet #and that might drive people away #idk maybe im overthinking it

i love super art style because if you thought dbz artstyle was bad sometimes then super gets even worse. all the time

#by the end of z/gt the art style really becomes more angular. i remember more awkward individual frames more often than in early z #and then super.............. i cant.Hurgrh. Hhuuuhh. Sorry i threw up in my mouth a little.There is everything happening at once #I HATE GRADIENTS I HATE HIGHLIGHTS you ONLY need base colors and shadows do NOT go for highlights #i understand maybe its a little like um. like . uhh. likethe simpsons movie or whatever where they start adding another layer of complexity #to the coloring to make new scenes seem more impressive than the old stuff #BUT ITS SO UGLYYYYYYYYY #They like did this thing where you do a gaussian blur on the lineart and then lower the opacity so the lineart kind of pops out and looks..#i guess...it kind of makes it look more 'vintage'..? if they wanted it to look more genuine to old db artstyle theres.Other ways to do that

#serious-ish answer that i am not great at setting out tips or advice. but just get weird and out of the “comfort zone” with some things #also learning anatomy but thats a given. you can do even more funny shit once you learn the basics of anatomy #but for everything else just get weird! think of something thatd be strange or funny and run with it. what qualifies as funny is up to you #u kno whats also funny and cute and awesome? variety #mess with proportions bodies faces markings and make something that is unique and strange #maybe ypu think well this stinks or is too strange or people will think youre weird. but why? and why should it matter?#id love to see your character designs anonymous individual. have faith in yourself #if it sounds like im bullshitting its because i havnt had brekfast yet but character and creature design is something im very passionate ab #especially seeing how others interpret the “rules” of it or how some “ignore” these “rules”. have i mentioned pokemon quartz yet #i love unique characters that stand out among ... i dont know. “clean” designs. i like how ones artstyle impacts a take on a design too #im rambling insanies i realize also. im inspired by old cartoons and looking at people and animals. i also learned how to draw hands #by drawing wings first. what does thay mean? I might be gettin more autistic over my proseka fan unit than my actual vn project . that is a wee bit of a problem

#i havent made ocs just for the sake of makin ocs in actual Years #all my ocs have been part of a bigger more serious narrative that i plan on (or hope to) turn into a game #i dont Have a lil guy to grab and think hmm lemme put him in situations. or perhaps a cute outfit #dont get me wrong my fan unit still got a big narrative they re workin w but they re much more slice of life cuz thats just how proseka is #l1f3l #and i can also take their designs less seriously if that makes sense. they re simple skinny anime boys the pinnacle of my comfort zone #maybe thats why i find them so relaxing to draw. i ve been rly pushing my bodies lately and drawing stuff im not good at #so its nice to just turn off my brain and draw some basic anime boys #in a way im tryin to stick to proseka s design principles bcs i know i ll draw them in the prsk artstyle soon enough #and i wanna make things easy for myself. i want this project to be fun and simple #mm i think ima download live2d tmrw..

its interesting as someone who used to be a bit closer to the very online capital A "Art Community" but is now a little more outside of it and focused on local art academia etc instead because the former always compliments me on "art style" and the latter always compliments me on the supposedly bizarre subject matter choices i make... its not bad its just interesting to see those two bubbles and how surprisingly separated they can be. unfortunately for them both, my art style is only Like This because i have a learning disability that slightly colours every line i draw and the unusual compositional choices like only drawing one eye and shit is because i was on deviantart in 2009 <3

#i dunno i was thinking about this because i was doing some experimentation with different ways to draw cartoon characters #i used to do it way more often but recently ive been super busy from school and family stuff going on (nothing bad just a lot of work)#the bmpmp3's artstyle is only extremely consistent when shes stressed!!!! jk jk but kinda LOL #if im too busy to play around my drawings will slip into whatevers comfortable for my dysgraphic hand <3 <3 <3 #but i loooove experimenting and fucking around. consistency for brand purposes is long outside of my perspective at this point #do i wanna draw detailed hair and faces... do i not.... who knows. it will change within the hour #i do appreciate when people compliment my art style tho even tho its not something i really try to do #because while i dont try to make things look a certain way - recently i had decided to not hold back on my dysgraphic nature #i probably talked about it before. instead of painfully agonizing and trying to get a line perfect and scrapping a whole drawing because #of the hand-got-tired-after-2-lines jerks and wiggles i just decided to leave that all in. show off the drawing even if its scribbly #the other day i got a compliment saying my art style is robust. im not sure i fully grasp what that means but i really like that compliment #its very evocative. robust..... gonna be thinking about it for a while #but im not joking about the academia thing professors get so baffled by some of my drawing choices and like i straight up tell them #these are habits of children largely. children on early internet in my case that i never grew out of but also habits that children still us #go on an art website and sort by new and look up fanart for something popular with kids and you'll probably see someone doing #stuff with similar artistic choices. maybe not the same because i am 26. but similar. coming from similar places.#they always laugh and seem to think im being humble or making a joke.... im not orz im not trying to downplay my skills either #if anything im trying to bring up the skills of a thousand children uploading oc art every moment of every day.... they are out there...#yeah i dunno its funny these different relationships im having to different art worlds. in the end i will always probably be a tiny bit #outside of them all as some kind of alien or creature masquerading as human but i think thats what we're all doing after all
