Manga format, read right to left

I was thinking through my list of possible sketches for these two when I remembered a memory from last year. When my dad was hospitalized last year, he often struggled to sit up comfortably, so my and my sister would take turns sitting behind him so he could lean on us. Since Michikatsu moves back home with Yoriichi in this AU, I think he would adopt that and many other little habits to support Yoriichi through his final years.

I thought it'd be funny to have Michi chewing the peels while he helps Yoriichi eat. He's not really eating much after switching sides so he usually just acts as the disposal bin for food scraps 💀. Fun fact: this is not the first time I've drawn Michi doing this. Here's a different AU sketch (manga format).

thinking about an evil!layton scenario along the lines of what "future luke" claims is happening in lf. basically, hershel vows to save claire at all costs, and if he can get revenge on hawks while he's at it, that's a great bonus.

claire's form is less stable and she keeps fading in and out of existence, making hershel even more desperate to find a solution. she's not entirely happy with how far he's willing to go, but in this state, she can't convince him to let her go. and, all moral questions aside, claire really doesn't want to die either.

Linktober Day 9

Deity

*sneezes after downing coffee* Well irl stuff got in the way so I'm way behind my original schedule for these and for Linktober but here we go with another arguably short one, fuelled purely by self indulgence, headcanons, spite against my linguist essays that kept me from keeping to schedule, severe sleep deprivation, a shout out to the Ender Lilies soundtrack and Majora's Mask soundtrack, and Nintendo for not clarifying anything about the lore so I'm snatching what I can and making it my own lol. Look, when you fíxate so much on details the Zelda team doesn't elaborate on you have to fill in the gaps with what you can.

As always can be read as romantic or platonic, technically in a LU context but not explicitly in it by itself.

The Lord of the Mountain liked hearing people sing.

In a way, it wasn’t a surprise, Hylia and the Golden Three each had their ballads and symphonies and minuets, each splendid and with cuts of their divinity in it, Farore was fond of lightning and forest alive minuets, and you could swear Farosh sparked just a bit brighter when one would him the beginnings of the Minuet of the Forest near their spring, Din was fond of boleros, fiery and alive and howling with the echo of flame touching earth that made a shine run through Dinraal’s scales, Nayru, in contrast, was much fonder of blizzard and river quiet serenades, the songs of contemplation at first snow ringing clear when Naydra curled around it’s spring, content to be free of Malice.

And of course Hylia had her ballads and lullabies, perfectly fitting to her display of divinity, of honey days and vast bird like wings, of ambered summers to come and to pass and dazzling solar storms of starlight and sunlight sparking through the human form of her descendants and heroes. So in a way, you weren’t surprised at all that the Lord of the Mountain – Satori, with a familiar touch of londsleite divinity, the hunt of the woodland beasts and diamondscar adoration for the Hero of the Wilds, similar in glory to the Light Spirits petrichor and vermeil fondness for the Hero of the Twilight – liked to listen to people sing. What you were surprised was how it attempted to follow along, it’s head across your lap the second you sat down in the clearing, a gentle hum on back of it’s throat, an owl’s cry and a cicada’s humming and faintly, chirring purring as presses it’s faces into your hands, a gentle request for petting.

It was adorable, even with the faint notes of the chill of clear spring water on winter and the livewire feeling of magic, like holding your hand too close to a flame but not quite touching it.

A low chuckle brushes against the back of your mind, a feeling like biting on ice, the prowl of a wild beast and the build up of lightning and light used to create his blade, the amused affection of a warrior reconvening with their brother in arms, you think you see the bone ivory of the Deity’s hair on the side of your vision, though you know he’s not physically there, ‘He likes you.’

You hum, gently patting behind it’s ears, pushing through the chill, gracefully not mentioning the burning with a smile at the mythic being’s faint chirring, birdsong and the wind through cherry blossoms that sparkle like rose quartz, “Well I quite like him too, I can see where it’s gentleness comes from.”

The ghost of a touch over your hair, the caress of lightning striking over your skin and the hair on the back of your neck pricking up and the crisp cold of winter, the chill of the ending and the flame of a new dawn, of new days, the phantom of magnolias and spring water on your tongue. The fragrance of pine, daffodils and blood soaked lilies on ashen fields on your senses, gentle and careful, marking but not claiming, ‘Only because it’s you, beloved. It’s not something easily given.’

You sigh, shakily composing yourself, you let yourself relax into the phantom sensation. Of hopes and dreams and healed suffering, of the divinity of hunt turned into protection and lightning given form, of tangled timelines and crystalized memories, “I know. It does not change my opinion, either way.”

To be the subject of a god’s care and regard was dangerous, after all. For the human and the deity in question, you know the stories from your world well, of the effects of Hylia on First and Sky, of Twilight and the personification of the Twilight Realm and the spirits of his land, of Wild and clawing from death’s embrace into that of the wilderness.

Knew how the fact the Fierce Deity’s mere proximity causing pain on those who changed him into hunting for hunt’s sake into protection for the sake of someone else cut deeper than even the ever encroaching entropy all beings must one day face. It was no wonder the Song of Healing was his creation, to want to ease the burden.

You gladly grant him some peace, in turn, even if it wasn’t much. It’s the least you can do, for always having his ways of watching over your heroes.

“Join me? We can make a duet.”

You feel more than see him shift, ephemeral, fleeting, gentle against the edges of your existence, as foreign to Hyrule as your own, sparking over your spine as you feel ozone and rust on your teeth. Satori is humming again to match the rumble of thunder in the man’s voice, the heralding of songs of war and elegies for the dead, ‘Of course, though I’m afraid I do not know many songs, besides…’

“It’s alright,”, you smile faintly, there’s a white ocarina in his hands, as he leans, a spectre against your side, “I’ll teach you some of my own, though you’ll have to forgive me if I don’t remember all the lyrics.”

‘It would be my honor to learn.’

You think he smiles, from the fluttering of something ancient and long forgotten against your side.

You sing to Satori and the Chain, a small respite of familiar and forgotten tunes, the Lord of the Mountain hums along. The Fierce Deity’s song cutting through any nightmares that may ail your heroes for another night.

When the dawn of a new day comes, the feeling of divinity against your skin feels just a bit more obvious, sinking into every crack of your being like a shroud, falling over your boys like a veil, reflecting the breath of eternity over Hyrule.

(First gives you a look that’s half exasperation, half understanding. Sky pointedly sticks to your side as Time looks you over, markings deep with vibrant color. You shrug with a helpless smile as you feel the lightest brushes of Hylia’s fond days of gold and starlit summers days against the Lord of the Mountains warm, luminous affection and the Fierce Deity’s smug, but content lonsdaleite smile.)

I've been deep diving into the symbolism of flowers recently so have my thoughts on what Wither Roses would symbolise in the world of Fable - and other flowers at the end (most of which already exist but I have thoughts anyway)

to start, wither roses are black roses so first the symbolisms of roses and black roses respectively

Roses (general): love, beauty, royalty, achievement, perfection and secrecy Black Roses: Positive - strength, a triumph over the inevitibility of death Negative - death, mourning, revenge, hatred, sorrow, mystery

Now Wither Roses, I'll do a summary of the meanings then I'll ramble a little bit

Wither Roses: Positive - Familial love, determination, triumph over the inevitability of death, a sign of "get well soon" or "even the worst sickness can be cured", the good nature of destruction, soulbonds and love unseprable by death Negative - Terminal/deadly illness, death itself, loss of a family member/loved one, doomed love

Wither Roses are associated with Soul and Athena. Despite the many negative meanings of black roses, wither roses have many more postive meanings, especially for a deadly flower. The godess Soul's previous state as the Wither is a well known one, and the story is a well told one, the story of Athena, her child, working so hard over so many years to cure her. Thus the familal love and determination meanings. The Wither curse and sickness were both diseases that would've been considered deadly and uncurable until Athena, on both fronts proved that they were not. So the triumph over death and worst sickness can be cured meanings. The get well soon meanings, come from a similar nature. Soulbonds and love unserprable by death go hand in hand as the flower is a symbol of Soul herself, the good nature of destruction as well, Netherum is dead but the story of Soul and them is still told to this day. That Soul calmed them. And with Athena being the vessel of destruction and also a ray of sunshine that meaning has multiple origins.

The meanings of terminal/deadly illnesses is pretty intuitive, the flower coming into contact with the skin can cause death or sickness, one that is very difficult to cure. Death itself, for a similar reason, this also links with it being a variant of a black rose. Loss of a loved one, because Athena lost their mother for a long time and he very nearly died from a similar sickness. Doomed love is less intuitive, but something I've found with flower symbolism is all of them have to include love in some version of the meaning (and familial love is mentioned) but I think doomed love would be a very common interpretation for this flower, since roses are such common symbols of love, and black roses ones of such sorrow, it only makes sense that a black rose with the actual capacity to kill would be a symbol of such a thing as doomed love.

Also I want to mention, despite how most flower meanings are made for when giving flowers to others, wither roses are an exception. They are not commonly given to people as gifts due to their tendancy to cause death. Most of the symbolism comes from stories, poetry, and many other forms of art. A common way to use wither roses in something like a play is to use a black rose and dip the tips of the petals in a dark grey paint and/or to paint the thorns in grey/black. Sometimes though, artists like to leave it amiguious and up to the viewer to decide if the rose is inteded to be a regular black one or a wither rose. Due to this common substitution, sometimes the symbolism of the two similar roses becomes blurred and thought of as interchangable.

To talk a little more about why i chose the meanings, i really like the fact that wither roses symbolise familial love, i've looked at so many flower meanings and almost every single one of them talks about romantic love or some form of love and so few of them talk about plantonic or familial love and its sad to me that those forms of love don't get as much appreciation. There are a few flowers that symbolise love between friends, but if you look in the right places there will be a source that lists romantic love in some way.

If you made it this far, here are the other flowers. Didn't have as many thoughts about these but still some of them

Torchflowers would be a big symbol of rebirth and change (heavily associated with Fenris)

Oxeye Daisies would be known to mean love that lasts beyond death, due to the nature of Centross and Fenris' relationship

Blue Orchids (specifically after Icarus gets back) would become associated with family (unconventional ones specifically, with half or steps siblings and divorced/unmarried/remarried parents), and forgetting/remembering a loved one

Sunflowers become a symbol of home - being lost/finding your way home. Follow the sunflowers becomes a common phrase meaning to follow your heart and you will always find home and memory/rememberance of loved ones. Or a way to say "I will never forget you"

And a bonus not related to flowers, I think Athena would be an icon for disabled people like how Hephastus is, maybe Alliums are too because of their association with her

Okay, so Hudson and Rex S7 wishlist, and yes, I know all episodes have been filmed but we know virtually nothing about them. Let's see how many things I won't get:

Some kind of development on Charlie and Sarah's relationship. I'm not disappointed by how close they were by the end of the season. But I think at this point it's important to me that a certain part of the fandom realizes what the rest of us have for years, that they're endgame. Marriage is the usually the conventional way to make this happen.

I want more silliness from Rex. That dog is way too professional and he makes the humans look bad lol. I want silliness like him hiding Joe's suitcase last season or when he went feral on Charlie's living room back when he was suspended.

Give me Sarah's parents!

Little domestic moments.

I don't even remember what we did with Joe last season. I think nothing? This needs to be amended.

Jesse has been doing lots of stuff lately. He became a detective, started guitar lessons apparently(?) and generally I'm satisfied with all these. Also, singing is a yes, always. Maybe a girlfriend/boyfriend? Look, it's never too late for a bisexual awakening (as another show recently showed us) and it might get the show booted off Up Faith and Family, so that would be a double win in my book.

Speaking of singing, I got a "JOHN CAN SING" message from someone (quoting, as I generally don't like writing only actors' first names when I refer to them, we're not pals, but I'm not against other people referring to them like that, I recognize that I'm probably the only one who makes such a big deal about this, in my head). Anyway, I'm not delusional enough to ask for a musical episode but apparently all the guys can sing, I'm not sure about Mayko Nguyen as I've not heard her voice, but maybe... one song? One song and some use of auto-tune? I'd be down for that. It doesn't even have to be an original.

I want Charlie out of his mind with worry about Rex again. It should happen once per season. And it has to be emotional.

Some kind of Charah whump as in them whumped together. It doesn't need to be too huge. But if for example, they were stranded in the middle of nowhere, injured, with no Rex (he has gone for help), I wouldn't mind. Reusing old plotlines, you say? Why, yes, and I don't mind. There are a lot of different ways and places to get stranded.

*checks whump agenda* A situation where a bad guy forces one from the team to hurt another member of the team. I honestly have no preference on who's going to do what. And I also know it won't happen lol

I do think the wildest part of the Skyrocket/Connie concept is that Visaggio seemed to legitimately believe that Kon-El is like... a D-List superhero. Which is just like, a wild thing to believe considering the Comic Kon won in a fan poll hadn't even finished coming out at the time she pitched her idea.

Kaito Headcanons I'm gonna be adding into my writing of him: Finally a list has been made.

He does gymnastics and has trained for it ever since he was younger. He's also pretty good with kendo (considering how he was able to hold out long enough when faced with Heiji who is exceptionally skilled at it).

Can actually cook pretty well. Just doesn't do it much cuz Aoko provides meals for him most of the time.

Kaito's genuine smile is more boxy, he can make it appear sharper as KID though, masking the boxiness of it.

I like to think of Kaito's "keke" laugh as his genuine one. He uses a "haha" laugh as KID to give more differences between his two identities. He makes sure his genuine laugh doesn't slip out, but it still sometimes does anyway.

Bestowing him the honour of: BPD and Plurality (Kaitou KID headmate upon him now).

What Kaito REALLY doesn't like about fish is its head. He can eat seafood so long as it's just the meat, such as sushi.

Has a separate place to keep all his birds at.

Tends to make friends with animals way too easily, any stray that crosses his vicinity are his buddies now. Naturally, he still makes sure to be cautious around strays as well.

Makes sure to carry some animal foods with him whenever possible just in case.

Always carries tiny plushies with him just in case he needs to cheer a stranger up and gifts one of it to them.

Good with claw machines. Those lil plushies are definitely from it.

Skilled with handicraft of any kind. Some of the plushies are actually made by him.

Kaito uses a black wig as KID.

Because of the incident with Inspector Nakamori seeing his face (Magic Kaito Ep. 2), Kaito now uses makeup to hide his real face a little more. He gives himself sharper features, making him appear slightly older as KID.

Kaito's KID outfit is fitted for his dad so it will always look big on him. He can modify them but Kaito doesn't want to. It's one of the things his dad left him after all.

The only thing different in Kaito's KID outfit are the gloves. After that incident with Jack Connery (Magic Kaito Ep. 12), Kaito made tighter gloves perfectly fit for him so that it won't slip off accidentally anymore should he grab someone.

Honestly, despite KID's outfit being bigger on Kaito, it doesn't show much due to the amount of gadgets and everything else Kaito has hidden in it for his magic tricks.

Toichi is Completely DEAD to me.

Also picking stuff from canon to integrate to mkp5: Love to pick and choose what I want.

Kaito can figure out the dimensions and measurement of any structure at first glance.

Kaito having photographic memory.

Kaito being particularly skilled enough with robotics to create a robot head accurate to his face and capable of saying "Good morning, Aoko." (Magic Kaito Ep. 1).

He did it again during OVA 10, although the canon of that is shaky due to being in a Detective Conan OVA.

Skilled at hacking.

Spider existing.

Basically almost the entirety of Magic Kaito (2010) cuz I adore nearly everything that Magic Kaito had to offer.

Stuff from canon I'm Not including in mkp5: Sorry, I'm picky.

Kaito leaving a hair strand during a heist for Hakuba to find. Why was that such a shortcut way for Hakuba to figure out KID's real identity. I'm Never acknowledging that, Hakuba can still have his suspicions via his deductive abilities but NOT LIKE THAT.

It also won't work in my AU anymore too since I'll have Kaito wearing a wig whenever he's KID before Hakuba even arrived.

Aoko constantly showing fish to Kaito. I'm only letting her get a Slight pass if Kaito annoyed her a bunch. But I'd rather write Aoko as one who doesn't bring up fish much around Kaito.

Headcanons influenced by the fic "a study in scarlette": I love that fic too much <3

Kaito being somewhat of an adrenaline junkie. The thrill of the chase got to him now.

Kaito having small freckles spread about his body <3 He covers those with makeup as KID though.

I'm going to give him some moles as well while I'm at it. Nothing on the face, mainly on his body. He also uses makeup to hide those.

Kaito's cupid's bow being uneven. I just looove that lil detail in the fic, I want it for him fr now! And ofc, as per the usual, he uses make up to make his lips even.

Kaito being able to see fairly well in the dark!

Inspired Slightly this time. Kaito having a higher tolerance to anesthetics but as a genetic thing instead. Trips to the dentist is a nightmare cuz of it but at least it's a useful thing to have as KID. Kinda...

Some headcanons for far into the future: This post is getting long whoops.

I like to think of Kaito still continuing on with KID even after everything with Pandora is resolved (hc influenced by the fic: "a study in scarlette"). He's just not as active as before since without Pandora, Kaito's targets will just be counterfeiters and accepting Jirokichi's challenges.

Do you think Johnny Gruelle would’ve liked the musical? Or all the other Raggedy Ann media that he didn’t get to see at that?

He's hard to place. I think he would have loved to see the dolls becoming even more popular and profitable in the 40's and again in the 60's and 70's. He'd love seeing that legacy continue even to this day, even if some of the media around it might not be up to his standards. Especially the community that has built up around it!

Generally, I don't think he'd like the musical all that much. It is, after all, based on himself and the life and death of his daughter, and understandably it was a tough subject. He also didn't like high-stakes and violent storylines in children's stories in general. Like his other work, the Raggedy Ann stories were written to contrast the older, much darker fairy tales.

Though I don't think that makes it disrespectful to him just because he'd personally disagree with its topics. I think remembering that history, even in a way that's kinda raw, it better than letting it fade away and the franchise become nothing but fluff and cotton candy.
