#maybe an unpopular opinion: I really didn’t care for Amy

Rewatching Doctor Who and I have questions that I’ve had through at least one other rewatch
These are just from Matt Smith’s seasons because that’s where I started (I love s1-4, but usually stop there because I don’t like 5-7 as much and there were always just too many questions and wtfs that I end up not continuing on)
How did the doctor remember the Silence long enough to come up with the “let’s mark our arms when we see one” plan? And why do they remember why they’ve marked their arms? (I know he explains it a little bit when they first start doing it, but it already assumed he remembers who the Silence are)
Why does no one seem to question a lizard woman and potato alien living in Victorian London? Sure there’s some weird looks occasionally, but like this should be news-worthy and history changing stuff. How did Madame Vastra even get there?
Why would the Time Lords be asking “Doctor Who?” through the crack? Idk if I just missed that explanation or not
Why did Clara not know who Amy was when 11 mentioned her right before regenerating? She literally went all through his time stream. There were things she knew in other episodes that I assumed she learned by going into his past given that we never see her told any of this information. So not knowing Amy seems weird
I’m really confused about the time war. I always thought they were “locked in time” like the Doctor “killed” them all by locking them in a perpetual war outside of like regular space time. But then in the 50th anniversary special, it seems like the moment was going to actually kill everyone. but then they change his past (and it doesn’t affect the doctor’s past selves because their timelines are out of sync…) and just remove the planet which means the Daleks will shoot each other. Would they not stop as soon as they realized a whole ass planet disappeared and now you have billions of daleks running around space to terrorize other planets?
This is just a gripe: I don’t like that Amy and Rory die. River is just gone. and then suddenly the doctor is all oogly over Clara and we don’t learn that River is dead until the last episode of season 7. Idk if I missed something or should have just taken River’s absence to mean that their last adventure together was in The Angels Take Manhattan and then she goes off to the library of the dead (of course this gets retconned a bit when she has her last date with 12 in season 9)
Also, Clara went from being a nanny to a teacher? It’s a fine progression, but it just happens; no mention of the change at all
So, we’ve got our mini people inside the robot person and they’re from the future and they hunt down bad guys to punish. Cool got it makes sense. They go after River because she killed the doctor in the s6 premiere. Cool got it. He’s actually in the robot when he gets “killed”. At that point, the doctor is not dead and pretty much everyone in the universe knows he’s not dead by the end of s7 (even after being “deleted” from records and shit). So the robot people wouldn’t have gone back in time to punish river… so he wouldn’t have had a robot to hide in so he would have died
Matt Smith’s regeneration episode - Clara questions the Silence about them making her forget them. But anyone else that sees them forgets when they turn away and then when they see them again has no memory of ever seeing them. They never get to the point of remembering enough to question how they got forgotten
I had more questions while I watched, but can’t remember them now. Some things that had confused me originally actually did get explained and I either missed it or forgot, but it wasn’t all bad
As an aside, I loved Tennant in the 50th anniversary special especially since I skipped his seasons this time around.
#Doctor Who#maybe an unpopular opinion: I really didn’t care for Amy#she treated Rory like trash constantly#would absolutely have cheated on him the night before her wedding if the doctor had been up for it#only seemed to love Rory when it was a life or death situation#other unpopular opinion: I really like River#her story is a bit all over the place but the character was fun#and Alex Kingston did a fantastic job playing her

Thoughts on season 2:
- I love Pilar and I thought her and Felix were cute but maybe unpopular opinion I don’t love them romantically. I also didn’t love that her whole storyline this season revolved around him.
- Felix’s storyline this season with his mom thought I thought was one of the best of the season.
- I really liked lake this season much more than last. I really really wanna see her be bisexual next season and have something with amy cuz I’ve been saying it since season 1 and tbh I wish they didn’t only tease it in the last episode
- on that note Pilar also has gay vibes but like Hollywood doesn’t allow 2 gays in one family sooo (Lowkey all the Salazar kids are fruity)
- shoutout to my man Armando I like seeing the actor not play a sucky father
- the mom had me very mad but It was nice to see her come around at the end. Her storyline felt very much guided towards straight ppl and parents that’ll watch this show which I guess is cool
- Love love love Andrew and Mia. I love winning.
- I honestly don’t care too much for benji like I don’t hate him but also don’t love him. I will say I really wanted them to talk more about race cuz it pissed me off when he said what does me being white have to do with it. I want victor to actually talk to him about it because there is a very big difference and benji needs to realize that
- I would say an improvement from the first season tbh

Ranking every teen drama I've watched
I have gotten really into teen dramas lately, because it's quarantine I can't go out and have fun, but I can still watch other people my age going out and having fun and doing things I don't get to do. Anyway I haven't seen all teen dramas, I was never interested in supernatural ones, so you won't find Vampire Diaries and similar shows on this list.
From worst to best:
The Secret Life of the American Teenager
I will never understand how this show ran for five seasons. It will forever remain a mystery to me. This show is so bad it's good. The writing resembles a wattpad story, Amy's pregnancy is inconsistent (like how was she five months pregnant for like five or six episodes, aren't the episodes supposed to be set a week apart?), the acting is bad (that is not to say that Molly Ringwald or Shailene Woodley are bad actresses, obviously they're not, I'm talking about Amy's sister that has the same facial expression no matter what her mood is supposed to be), some of the views this show expresses are very old-fashioned and damaging (the madonna-whore binary, the fact that they can't even utter the word abortion) and every single male character on this show is a creep and a cheater. I can't believe I watched like thirteen episodes of this. I will never get that time back.
Weirdest moment: "I'm a whore!" "Well, you're my whore." (Was this supposed to be romantic??)
Best moment: none
Glee
This is going to be unpopular and don't get me wrong, I like Glee, but I feel like the writers put much more thought into the musical numbers than the storylines. Again, Quinn's pregnancy is inconsistent (but I'm starting to think TV shows are always inconsistent about pregnancies), the characters don't look like they're in high school at all, the cheerleaders wear their uniforms 24/7 for no reason (Quinn even wore it to her sonogram, like seriously?) the whole celibacy club thing is weird and Mr Schue is a terrible teacher. However, the visuals and the musical numbers are great, Sue Sylvester is iconic (albeit also a terrible teacher) and some of the scenes are really emotional (Kurt singing I Wanna Hold Your Hand made my sister cry) so overall, it's pretty good.
Weirdest moment: Finn praying to grilled cheese (what??)
Best moment: Quinn giving birth to Bohemian Rhapsody, Kurt singing I Wanna Hold Your Hand
Dawson's Creek
I LOVE their 90s' outfits and Joey and Pacey are really otp material, but I just can't stand Dawson! He got mad that Joey didn't tell him about his mother's affair, as if it was her place to get involved. She was 15! It's understandible she didn't want to get tangled into that mess. He also slut-shamed Jen in a really gross way. He literally stopped talking to her for a day when he found out she isn't a virgin. Why are both Joey and Jen into this guy?? This would've been a much better show if it was called Joey's Creek or Pacey's Creek.
Weirdest moment: the way Dawson's mom confessed her affair to her husband. I don't think any irl human would use this choice of words. Also that scene where Dawson's father was teaching him how to kiss while Joey was watching. Cringe.
Best moment: any time Joey and Pacey are bickering. My shipper heart!
Pretty Little Liars
I loved the book version of this, but the TV version seems way too dramatic. First of all, they romanticized Aria and Ezra's relationship (ewww) and made the whole thing seem much more overdramatic. I don't know how to explain it, I mean the books are also dramatic but the TV show somehow took it to a whole new level. None of the girls look like they're in high school, but I love the way they dress and do their makeup. It's almost as though the writers put more thought into their outfits than storylines. I still loved watching it until Netflix took it off, though.
Weirdest moment: Spencer somehow trying to block A's number from her laptop in the middle of a park and then being confused that it didn't work. Weren't you supposed to be the smart one, Spencer?
Best moment: Haleb in the shower, hiding from Hanna's mom.
Skins
This is a classic. Effy is iconic (I somehow heard about her even before watching Skins) and the musical number at the end of season 1 was out of nowhere but still somehow fit perfectly into the story. I also give this show point for being one of the few TV shows where teen characters are actually played by real life teens. They look their age, talk their age (no "I reject reality" or other cringy lines like that) and aren't unrealistically perfect like characters from American teen dramas tend to be. They look like people you might actually meet in high school. However the show loses points for all the continuity errors (are 8 episodes supposed to be the whole school year??) and the number of unneccessary death/tragic accidents. It seemed kind of over-the-top and unneccessarily dark and brutal at times.
Weirdest moment: Chris's graphic death
Best moment: Wild World
Euphoria
The Gen Z American version of Skins, but with better visuals. Much better. I loved the aesthetic, the colors, the lighting and glitter. Zendaya's a great actress and I give this show points for casting an actual trans actress in the role of Jules. However I find it weird that all guys on this show are complete irredeemable assholes (except of Jules's dad and Ethan that is). Are we supposed to just root for the girls and not the guys? Also I find it hard to believe that any of these characters are actually 16/17. They have sex all the time (yeah teenagers have sex sometimes but on this show they treated Kat as some kind of a chaste nun for being a virgin at 16) and have seemingly no rules and no curfew. It would've been much more believable if they were in college.
Weirdest moment: Nate breaking into Tyler's house, beating him up and then taking a shower. The audacity this guy has!
Best moment: "You did this to me!" and Rue having an anxiety attack on the stage in theater class
Gossip Girl
I know this is also an unpopular opinion, because many claim Gossip Girl is the best teen drama ever, but for me it just got way too soapy as the seasons went on. The first two seasons were believable, even though they didn't really look like they were in high school, but after that it was just more and more weird plot points. I will give this show points for the fashion (I mean Blair's headbands and school uniform inspired a fashion line), the acting ("I killed someone"- iconic) and the choice of background music (Nate and Serena kissing to Paparazzi, Thanksgiving with Watcha Say). Despite the wild twists and turns of events, I just had to keep watching because this show had me hooked.
Weirdest moment: Bart Bass somehow flying off the building for no reason (seriously, what he did there had no logical explanation and defied laws of physics), Dan being Gossip Girl, Bart faking his death and returning more evil than before, Serena becoming Gossip Girl, the affidavit, everyone randomly stopping going to college... there are so many but Bart takes the cake I guess
Best moment: the Thanksgiving flashbacks from season 1, Dan placing a plastic crown on Blair's head
Freaks and Geeks
This is one of the few shows where high school is depicted realistically. It's not all glitter and parties and not everyone has sex and does drugs. Okay, I admit, the bullying was over the top and it was weird how no adults cared but other than that, it was pretty spot-on. It was emotional without being too dramatic and far-fetched and also had funny moments. Yes some of the characters may have been stereotypes but at least the show seemed self-aware of that. It's truly a shame we only got 18 episodes of this show, while The Secret Life of the American Teenager somehow got five seasons??? I don't get it.
Weirdest moment: when Cindy suddenly got super mean once she started dating Sam
Best moment: Daniel showing up at Kim's doorstep, Sam breaking down in tears in the end of 'Garage Door'
Gilmore Girls
I'm not sure this one counts as a teen drama, maybe it's more of a dramedy but I'm still including it here. It's funny, the dialogue is witty and full of obscure pop-culture references and the relationships between generations complex. Same as with Freaks and Geeks, the portrayal of high school is pretty realistic. Characters are shown studying and taking tests and not just partying all the time. However the show loses points for getting weirdly soapy in the 7th season. The dialogue wasn't as good and the camera angles were soap opera like and the storylines weren't very good either. You could really tell the show changed show-runners. The earlier seasons are the best. It's hard to explain but something about them feels cozy like a warm blanket and a cup of hot chocolate on a rainy day.
Weirdest moment: Lorelai marrying Chris and then making the whole "you're the man I want to want" speech, Lorelai defending and loving Dean for no reason
Best moment: Rory's graduation speech, Rory yelling at Chris and calling him out for not having been there for her, Then She Appeared, "Yes Emily, you may go first"... there are so many!
#teen dramas#the secret life of the american teenager#glee#dawson's creek#pll#skins#euphoria#gossip girl#freaks and geeks#gilmore girls#i would've included the oc but i havent seen enough of it yet

Potentially unpopular/controversial opinion
The squad overreacted to Kal's parentage being revealed and he's still a good person
I've had a lot of these thoughts swirling around in my head ever since it cleared enough to process Aurora Burning and I just wanted to get them out since I've also seen a lot of people really hating Kal after this book. Kal isn't, never has, and never will be my favourite character, or probably even top 3, but I have a lot of feelings about this and I think that everyone, including the characters, is being harsher than reasonable.
Okay so, they were all perfectly justified in feeling betrayed and upset because that is an upsetting thing to hear, especially for Scarlett since the Starslayer is the reason her dad is dead and now she's lost Tyler because of the Unbroken and Auri would definitely be questioning everything after all that time together. BUT, they know Kal better than that, he's defended and protected them plenty of times and he's shown that he's loyal to them even if he hasn't told them everything about himself. It's not like every person on that squad gave up their entire life story the moment they met, is it? No. Because People. Have. Secrets. I don't care how much of an open book someone might be, every single person who has ever lived has kept secrets, however mundane or earth-shattering they may be.
I guess technically he lied by saying his father was dead but it's understandable given the circumstances and how he feels about him. But that's not what we're discussing because no one needs another Empire Strikes Back "from a certain point of view" argument. Whether his father was dead or alive, good or evil, it wouldn't matter all that much because, and here's the important thing, PEOPLE ARE NOT THEIR FATHERS.
Kal even explains and makes it clear to them his position and why he did what he did. Like yeah, he hid who he was and used his mothers name to forge a new life - at a place where he could HELP PEOPLE no less - but, can you blame him? Like, he's a better person who tries so hard all the damn time to be better than he was taught to be and people already judge him before they know him on the basis that he's warbreed, there's no reason he should also have to have his life ruined because of his father, whom he wishes to be nothing like. And if anyone, including them, wants proof that he's genuine in his actions, just look at what he has to deal with every day. His own people despise him because of his Cabal - both Unbroken and refugee alike for their own reasons, other species are instinctively distrustful of him due to the same thing, and he's basically all alone in the universe with no one who cares about him or shows him anything but hatred, contempt, or indifference until he becomes part of Squad 312. Like, life would be so much easier if he just joined his father and became what he was raised to be, but he chooses always to be better than that and to fight on the side of good, even if it's the harder path. And if you think about it logically for a minute, the idea that it might be some sort of spy/infiltration thing is completely unfounded just based on the Unbroken's ideals and way of operating. They wouldn't care about that kind of sneak tactic - which also would basically be a pointless exercise given Kal is a 19-year-old student at the academy, if they wanted to destroy the legion or anything, they'd just do it. Like these people are built for and love war, they'd just attack if they wanted to.
Maybe Kal should have told the squad, but I completely understand him wanting to leave that part of his life behind, and how was he to know Saedii would find and come after him? He had no idea what would happen on their mission, no idea the Unbroken would turn up and discover who he was and put everyone in danger. None of them knew any of this would happen. And look, I agree, after Saedii and the Unbroken started coming after them, he probably should have said, but I still get him not wanting to. Yeah being the Starslayer's son probably made the Unbroken getting him more of a priority, but even without that, he's still a warbreed with a Templar sister who hasn't joined them, and that's more than enough for the Unbroken to want to hunt him down and either kill him or get him onside.
Also like, Kal ain't an actor folks, he wouldn't be able to fake the Pull or how it makes him react, I'm sure of it. And you know 6 months of that relationship with Auri and all the feelings that went with it - that he clearly showed since Auri was so sure of it before the reveal - is in no way something he or probably anyone else would be able to fake so convincingly, especially given Auri's gifts.
Now, you might say, "but Amy, he went and joined his father in the end!" and to that I ask, did he? Did he really?
This boy showed clearly in his POV chapters that he despises his father and what he was made into at his hand. And this isn't some third person narrator which leaves us room to doubt, this is first person, this is his actual thoughts. He doesn't want to be part of the Unbroken.
Now, we don't know Kal's entire thought process but I highly doubt he didn't have some kind of plan in going to his father - the only one on the side of good who could possibly get anywhere close to him without being killed. Whether or not his plan was to murder his father from the begining or if that idea only came when he saw Auri being hurt by him is debatable, but he for sure wasn't there to truly join the Unbroken. Maybe it was even just that he had absolutely nowhere else to go. He was abandoned by his squad, he's a wanted criminal by multiple governments, and, as a warbreed, no one else of his species would trust him. Awful as it sounds, to his father is about the only safe place he can go. You can tell he's not happy about it, but I have a feeling he had a plan, or at least the beginnings of one - whether that plan was to help Auri if she succeeded in getting there, kill his father at some point while he was occupied with something else during the attack, or bide his time in the hopes of stopping this all in some other way, is what I don't know. To be honest, if it weren't for the way Auri and the others think and act in the chapters after they abandon him, I wouldn't be surprised if this was actually some part if their plan.
But anyway, that's my 2 cents on the matter of Kal in this book. This was written moments after waking up so I hope it's coherent and I actually covered everything I meant to. But,
Tl;dr: Kal had very understandable reasons for doing everything he did and people shouldn't be as hard on him as they have been.
Edit: I just had a quick skim back through the chapter and although Kal had no real solid plan, he wanted to kill his father and planned to whenever the opportunity presented itself. So, literally how anyone can still be mad at him (except the squad who have no idea), I truly don't understand.

Doctor Who for the ask meme!
Favorite character:
I mean this is obvious but RIVER SONG
Least Favorite character:
It’s kind of a tossup between Clara and Rose. But to be fair to them both, I think it has a lot to do with their “romances” with the Doctor that really bug the hell out of me.
5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon):
River/12, River/11, River/13, River/9. River/10, etc etc. (also Amy/Rory and Heather/Bill)
Character I find most attractive:
I mean
Character I would marry:
This is just gonna sound like
Character I would be best friends with:
a broken record
(I mean I would probably be better friends with Bill than anyone else but I would make heart eyes at River and maybe she would keep me as a pet)
a random thought:
sometimes i think about how the doctor said “there’s a time to live and a time to sleep” and “you should have faded by now” and how i read in a DW book once that river should have “faded” from the library after a while and then i start crying a lot and then i get mad because we never got a scene where we see all the effort the doctor has gone through in an attempt to save his wife like yeah after 24 years he was just like “welp bye”??? NO. he tried everything and i wanna see it.
An unpopular opinion:
I... don’t really care much that Jack came back? Like I’m definitely not MAD about it, and I’m happy for people who love him. I just didn’t love the WAY he came back much? I hope there’s more resolution at some point.
My Canon OTP:
River/Doctor
My Non-canon OTP:
I don’t have one they’re all married aww yis
Most Badass Character:
... guys.
Most Epic Villain:
Hmmm. I really liked Missy a lot! Even though I cannot STAND the Master. I also love the Weeping Angels and the Silence. And Kovarian was all kinds of fucked up. Like I don’t think we give her enough credit for being as twisted as she was as a villain (prob cause she didn’t get a ton of screen-time) but like... damn that’s some mental gymnastics to get from “i want this dude dead” to “let’s make a flesh baby” and I gotta admire her for that
Pairing I am not a fan of:
god I’m so cliche but really Doctor/Anyone who isn’t River like just d o n ‘ t
Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another):
13. I wanted to love her so so bad and I just... don’t care.
Favourite Friendship:
Twelve/Bill!!
Character I most identify with:
Ugh I’m never sure about this question because like, is River my fav BECAUSE I identify with her or because I wanna BE her? Or because I wanna be WITH HER? It’s confusing. Maybe Amy? IDK
Character I wish I could be:
See above conundrum
TLDR: Everything is about River
[ send me a show, ship, or character! ]

Harry J. Potter and the Sorting Hat (really long post)
‘Hmm,’ said a small voice in his ear. ‘Difficult. Very difficult. Plenty of courage, I see. Not a bad mind, either. There’s talent, oh my goodness, yes – and a nice thirst to prove yourself, now that’s interesting ... So where shall I put you?’
Harry gripped the edges of the stool and thought, ‘Not Slytherin, not Slytherin.’
‘Not Slytherin, eh?’ said the small voice. ‘Are you sure? You could be great, you know, it’s all here in your head, and Slytherin will help you on the way to greatness, no doubt about that – no? Well, if you’re sure – better be GRYFFINDOR!’ (Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s stone, The Sorting Hat)
I believe that everyone has talked about this scene at this point but I wanted to say something. The most important thing in this exchange of lines is that the sorting hat thought that Harry should be in Slytherin and Harry chose to “belong in Gryffindor,/ Where dwell the brave at heart,/ Their daring, nerve, and chivalry/ Set Gryffindors apart". Now I want to concentrate on the other things the hat says:
1. Plenty of courage
If we want to stay on book 1 the first example that comes to my mind is the Troll scene. I know that the line between “bravery” and “stupidity” is really subtle but:
“Harry then did something that was both very brave and very stupid: he took a great running jump and managed to fasten his arms around the troll’s neck from behind. The troll couldn’t feel Harry hanging there, but even a troll will notice if you stick a long bit of wood up its nose, and Harry’s wand had still been in his hand when he’d jumped – it had gone straight up one of the troll’s nostrils.” (Hallowe’en)
Yep, that was very stupid, but Hermione was crying, the fear froze her and he did the first thing he could think of in that moment to protect her.
There are so many more moments, but my favourite is in Deathly Hallows when he acknowledged that he had to die.
Harry understood at last that he was not supposed to survive. His job was to walk calmly into Death’s welcoming arms. [...] Would it hurt to die? All those times he had thought that it was about to happen and escaped, he had never really thought of the thing itself: his will to live had always been so much stronger than his fear of death. […] This cold-blooded walk to his own destruction would require a different kind of bravery. (The Forest Again)
2. Not a bad mind
Ok, we all know that harry is not a Ravenclaw because of a lot of things but his mind is still really great and, sometimes, is fast. He IS smart:
‘Stop moving!’ Hermione ordered them. ‘I know what this is – it’s Devil’s Snare!’ ‘Oh, I’m so glad we know what it’s called, that’s a great help,’ snarled Ron […].
‘Shut up, I’m trying to remember how to kill it!’ said Hermione. […]
‘Devil’s Snare, Devil’s Snare ... What did Professor Sprout say? It likes the dark and the damp –’
‘So, light a fire!’ Harry choked.
‘Yes – of course – but there’s no wood!’ Hermione cried, wringing her hands.
‘HAVE YOU GONE MAD?’ Ron bellowed. ‘ARE YOU A WITCH OR NOT?’ (Through the Trapdoor)
Ok, of course he is not Hermione-solving-Snape’s-potion-riddle smart but in the Goblet of Fire he answered correctly to the sphynx so... I can live with this and I don’t know if this is an unpopular opinion, but I really liked DH Harry, really. I loved how he was able to interpret Voldy’s mind and how he solved the puzzle Dumbledore left him. I know he did some stupid things like take Mad-Eye Moody’s eye from the Umbridge’s door but come on... he couldn’t leave it there. But now an example:
‘Harry,’ […] Are you saying there’s a Horcrux in the Lestranges’ vault?’
‘Yes,’ said Harry. ‘Bellatrix was terrified when she thought we’d been in there; she was beside herself. Why? What did she think we’d seen, what else did she think we might have taken?
Something she was petrified You-Know-Who would find out about.’
‘But I thought we were looking for places You-Know-Who’s been, places he’s done something important?’ […]
‘I don’t know whether he was ever inside Gringotts,’ said Harry. ‘He never had gold there when he was younger, […] ‘I think he would have envied anyone who had a key to a Gringotts vault. I think he’d have seen it as a real symbol of belonging to the wizarding world. And don’t forget, he trusted Bellatrix and her husband. They were his most devoted servants before he fell, and they went looking for him after he vanished. He said it the night he came back, I heard him.’
[…] He probably told her it was a treasured possession and asked her to place it in her vault. The safest place in the world for anything you want to hide, Hagrid told me ... except for Hogwarts.’
When Harry had finished speaking, Ron shook his head. ‘You really understand him.’ (The Wandmaker)
3. Talent
Now tell me that he is not a good wizard. In his third year he produced a Patronus, during his fifth year he taught DADA to other students and have you seen his O.W.L.S?
Astronomy A /Care of Magical Creatures E /Charms E /Defense Against the Dark Arts O /Divination P / Herbology E /History of Magic D /Potions E /Transfiguration E
They are good. He is not exceptional, but he is a very good wizard and we know the story behind Divination and History of Magic.
4. Thirst to prove yourself
Ok, this I like very much. In my opinion, almost everything he does during this series is because he wants to prove others and himself that he can be, will be and is a good wizard. At the start he didn’t know ANYTING about magic, he didn’t even know that magic existed in the first place. Then someone told him that everyone in their world knew his name for something he didn’t remember he had done... I mean, is scary and he was eleven. He wants to belong in that world from the bottom of his heart.
‘... and until Hagrid told me, I didn’t know anything about being a wizard or about my parents or Voldemort –’
Ron gasped.
‘What?’ said Harry.
‘You said You-Know-Who’s name!’ said Ron, sounding both shocked and impressed. ‘I’d have thought you, of all people –’
‘I’m not trying to be brave or anything, saying the name,’ said Harry. ‘I just never knew you shouldn’t. See what I mean?’ I bet,’ he added, voicing for the first time something that had been worrying him a lot lately, ‘I bet I’m the worst in the class.’ (The journey from platform 9 and 3/4 )
And at the end of the book
‘D’you think he meant you to do it?’ said Ron. ‘Sending you your father’s Cloak and everything?’ ‘Well,’ Hermione exploded, ‘if he did – I mean to say – that’s terrible – you could have been killed.’ ‘No, it isn’t,’ said Harry thoughtfully. ‘He’s a funny man, Dumbledore. I think he sort of wanted to give me a chance. I think he knows more or less everything that goes on here, you know. I reckon he had a pretty good idea we were going to try, and instead of stopping us, he just taught us enough to help. I don’t think it was an accident he let me find out how the Mirror worked. It’s almost like he thought I had the right to face Voldemort if I could ...’ […] (The Man with two Faces)
Dumbledore said that the real power of Harry was to choose the good side after all that happened to him. For him to suffer meant to love again and again and to forgive bad guy after bad guy. I mean... HE TRIED TO REDEEM VOLDEMORT!
“But before you try to kill me, I’d advise you to think about what you’ve done ... think, and try for some remorse, Riddle ...’
‘What is this?’
Of all the things that Harry had said to him, beyond any revelation or taunt, nothing had shocked Voldemort like this. [...]
‘It’s your one last chance,’ said Harry, ‘it’s all you’ve got left ... I’ve seen what you’ll be otherwise ... be a man ... try ... try for some remorse ...’ (The Flaw in the Plan)
He never wanted to be a Slytherin, he never wanted greatness, he never asked to be the hero, he had to be it because of a prophecy, because everyone wanted him to be it, because Voldemort made him “The chosen one”, “The boy who lived” and he became the hero everyone asked for.
Voldemort asked him if he wanted to join him in the PS:
‘SO WHAT?’ Harry shouted. ‘Don’t you understand? If Snape gets hold of the Stone, Voldemort’s coming back! Haven’t you heard what it was like when he was trying to take over? There won’t be any Hogwarts to get expelled from! He’ll flatten it or turn it into a school for the Dark Arts! Losing points doesn’t matter anymore, can’t you see? Do you think he’ll leave you and your families alone if Gryffindor win the House Cup? If I get caught before I can get to the Stone, well, I’ll have to go back to the Dursleys and wait for Voldemort to find me there. It’s only dying a bit later than I would have done, because I’m never going over to the Dark Side! I’m going through that trapdoor tonight and nothing you two say is going to stop me! Voldemort killed my parents, remember?’ (Through the Trapdoor)
‘Don’t be a fool,’ snarled the face. ‘Better save your own life and join me ... or you’ll meet the same end as your parents ... They died begging me for mercy ...’
‘LIAR!’ Harry shouted suddenly. […]
‘How touching ...’ it hissed. ‘I always value bravery ... Yes, boy, your parents were brave ... I killed your father first and he put up a courageous fight ... but your mother needn’t have died ... she was trying to protect you ... Now give me the Stone, unless you want her to have died in vain.’
‘NEVER!’ (The Man with two Faces)
Dumbledore himself said to Harry that he had some characteristics that Voldemort likes but Harry was loved by so many and so much and he knew that. Harry James Potter is the most not-Slytherin person on this planet, he is a true Gryffindor (maybe with a tip of Hufflepuff for his loyalty) ... change my mind.
Bonus:
‘It’s not a case of what you’ll permit, Minerva McGonagall. Your time’s over. It’s us what’s in charge here now, and you’ll back me up or you’ll pay the price.’
And he spat in her face.
Harry pulled the Cloak off himself, raised his wand and said, ‘You shouldn’t have done that.’
As Amycus spun round, Harry shouted, ‘Crucio!’
[…] ‘I see what Bellatrix meant,’ said Harry, the blood thundering through his brain, ‘you need to really mean it.’
‘Potter!’ whispered Professor McGonagall, clutching her heart. ‘Potter – you’re here! What –? How- ?’ She struggled to pull herself together. ‘Potter, that was foolish!’
‘He spat at you,’ said Harry.

charles boyle from b99
Woohoo thank you!
Why I like them: Charles is just the absolute sweetest dude with the biggest heart. He goes all-in for his friends and I think his enthusiasm makes things that should in-theory be creepy (like how in love with Jake/Amy’s relationship he is) be more wholesome without making me cringe (much lmao)
Why I don’t Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh?
Favorite episode (scene if movie) Ooh the episode where he and Jake are on their “last” case together. It’s a really heartwarming episode that accentuates both of their love and appreciation for each other. Counterpoint favorite episode: the episode where they’re on a stakeout together and drive each other up the wall. It’s nice having an episode where Charles is annoyed at Jake LMAO
Favorite season/movie Hmm. Probably season 4? That’s where we got a lot of scenes regarding Nikolaj and I gotta say; I love dad Charles a lot.
Favorite line OOF these are always hard for me. Ummm. Probably “I came down with a big old Diane Weast infection.....................likE YEAST!” because honestly what a pun I loved it
Favorite outfit That Matrix-style outfit he wore when he and Vivian broke up lmao
OTP Him and Genevieve (@ writers bring her back!!!)
Brotp Him and Jake, ofc! I adore their dynamic. :)
Head Canon Sometimes Charles doesn’t like the food he rates high on his blog, but they check off basically every box on his rating system (texture, spices, quality, presentation) so he’ll begrudgingly rate something super highly and glare every time he does it
Unpopular opinion Uhhh I didn’t mind the storyline with Rosa in season 1? If that was unpopular? I know people were wary about it because it seemed like a Nice Guy(TM) storyline but I think they wrote it really well
A wish Despite what I said above I do wish that we got to see a little bit less of his love for Jake/Peraltiago as his End All Be All at times? We know he loves his son and wife like, maybe more on that as well would be a nice change of pace.
An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen Well I doubt he’d ever die so like. idk hahaha I guess him and Genevieve getting divorced?
5 words to best describe them Loyal, caring, sweet, funny, obsessive
My nickname for them I’ll give him Uncle Chi Chi since no one else will

For the character thing. Wolverine (Logan)
How I feel about this character: He’s a badass and I do love anti-heroes. It’s just, he’s not my favorite X-Men character (that would be Kitty Pryde). I know for a lot of people, Logan is their fave, but for me he’s somewhere in the middle of my list.
All the people I ship romantically with this character: Oh god...can I say nobody? I don’t really care for Logan’s romantic pursuits, especially regarding Jean Grey (I hate the Logan-Jean-Scott love triangle). Wolverine is interesting to me as a badass anti-hero, that’s all. He’s not really a “romantic lead” for me, or at least a character who I’d be interested in seeing in a relationship.
My non-romantic OTP for this character: X-23/Laura Kinney! I love their father-daughter dynamic and I thought the movie Logan was a great example of that. I’m a sucker for the “gritty father figure/troublesome daughter figure” trope (read: Joel and Ellie, Frank Castle and Amy Bendix, etc.).
My unpopular opinion about this character: I think Marvel relies on Wolverine a bit too much, especially the Fox movies. He’s a great character but there are other X-Men who can carry the story. For example, I’m still not over the fact that the Days of Future Past movie pushed Kitty Pryde aside in favor of Logan. Come on, that was supposed to be her story.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I’m not sure. There’s nothing I’d really change in the comics canon. Maybe have the Hercules x Wolverine ship happen in the mainstream, 616 universe just to see how people would react. As for the movies, I wish they didn’t have Logan be the “main character” of the X-Men movies. Last time I checked, the “X-Men” are a team. Now if we’re talking about something specific in the canon...I would have cut out the scene from X2 where he forced himself on Jean Grey.

Jake Peralta
favourite thing about them: what a fun, goofy person he is? he’s literally one of the most supportive, caring, hilarious fictional men out there... genuinely love him with my whole entire heart tbh
least favourite thing about them: honestly what can I say??? nothing??? i actually love him SO much. maybe how much crap he eats in the first couple of seasons but even then fkjghfjgh it’s just a part of him y’know?
favourite line: "Uh-oh, hope it doesn't get too sexual." Title of your sex tape. But seriously, what is taking so long. Also the title of your sex tape.” and basically all of his proposal to Amy and wedding vows!!!!!!!
brOTP: Jake and Rosa or Jake and Charles!!!!!!
OTP: JAKE AND AMY!!!!!!!
nOTP: I don’t really?? Have one?? Jake and Gina?? LMAO
random headcanon: Him and Amy have a lil baby girl and he loves spoiling her. He’s such a good dad and he dotes on her so much, and he can’t believe him and Amy made such a perfect, tiny human 🥺
unpopular opinion: I really didn’t care when his sister was introduced which has nothing to do with Jake directly it just........ wasn’t that interesting to me fjghfjghdkfgh
song i associate with them: i will follow you by toulouse, it always reminds me of jake and amy! 🥰 and it’s like, the softest song in the world tbh.
favorite picture of them: someone hold me............
Send me a character and i’ll list ^^^ (ask box)

001 for Gilmore Girls!
YESSSSSS, A GILMORE GIRLS ASK. PRAISE THE LORD.
Favourite character: Jess Mariano!!! Yeah, he’s a bit of a dickhead as he’s growing up, but I believe that’s for certain reasons. Also, he’s just my favourite little witty brat. I absolutely love how he grows up as the series progresses. He’s the only character that I can see a true positive character development arc in.
Least favourite character: Should I be edgy and say Lorelai Gilmore or just say Dean Forester? Lorelai honestly bugs the crap out of me.
5 favourite ships (canon or non-canon): I’m Literati through and through. That’s Jess/Rory, if y’all didn’t get that lol. Um, I don’t mind Luke/Lorelai. Oh, I liked Lane and Dave a lot! But maybe that’s just because of my giant crush on Adam Brody. Whoops. I also don’t mind the rarer pair of Rory/Paris sometimes.
Character I find most attractive: Jess. Duh. (MILO VENTIMIGLIA IS SO ATTRACTIVE IN ALL FORMS.)
Character I would marry: See previous answer. But uh, only the grown up version of him, lmao. I can’t deal with all that teenage angst.
Character I would be best friends with: Laaaaane!!! I love her. OH I LIKE PARIS A LOT, TOO, even if she’s insufferable lol.
A random thought: This show is a hot mess. Amy Sherman-Palladino is a hot mess. I can’t believe she wanted to end the original series in season seven with THAT. Like, are you good, woman?! I know it’s ~poetic~ to do the full circle thing, but guess what? I FUCKING HATE IT.
An unpopular opinion: I mean, I’ve seen this around a lot, but I hate Dean so much. I hate how he treated Rory. I also hate who Rory was when she was with Logan. AND I LOVE JESS/RORY BUT I HATE HOW THEY HAD HIM PINING AFTER HER LIKE A LOVESICK IDIOT AT THE END OF THE REVIVAL. GIVE MY MAN SOME HOPE!!!
My Canon OTP: Jess and Rory are not canon and I will forever RIOT over it. You know how much shit-baiting they did pre-revival? I ACTUALLY THOUGHT THEY MIGHT BE CANON. [breathes into paper bag to calm down]. I guess the only ‘canon’ OTP I have for this show is Luke/Lorelai, but I don’t even care about them that much. Big sigh.
My Non-canon OTP: …see previous answer.
Most Badass Character: I honestly find Lane to be such a badass. ALSO, MRS KIM. I LOVE HER A LOT. Uh, does Paris count for this? Also her, I suppose.
Most Epic Villain: [snort] Well, Gilmore Girls wasn’t really a show with ‘villains’. I… don’t really think there’s a right answer for this question.
Pairing I am not a fan of: Dean/Rory (what are y’all smoking, I’m sorry), I didn’t mind Logan/Rory either by the end of the first series but by the revival? THROW IT IN THE TRASH.
Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): [HEAVY BREATHING INTO PAPER BAG] RORY GILMORE. DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH THE REVIVAL TARNISHED HER FOR ME? DO YOU? I DO NOT TALK ABOUT THE REVIVAL. IT MAKES ME VERY SAD. She didn’t develop at all so many years later. What the hell was she doing fucking around with Logan? Also, driven Rory was so fucked up in terms of her employment?! I know that she isn’t perfect (hell no, she definitely isn’t) and it’s ~realistic~ to have her be unsure of her job, but JESUS CHRIST. AND THEN SHE GETS [SPOILER] KNOCKED UP. BY LOGAN!!!!! EXCUSE ME!!!!!!!! REPEATING HER MOTHER’S MISTAKE!!!!! Let me die, it would be less painful than this.
Favourite Friendship: I love Lane and Rory, I also adore Paris and Rory. And I even like Jess and Rory just as friends.
Character I most identify with: Lane, I think. Maybe Jess a little, too.
Character I wish I could be: Lord, please grant me the wit of Jess Mariano, the drive of Paris Gellar, the personality of Lane Kim, and … er. Idk what else. Make me Jess when he’s older if anything, lol.
Ask me fandom questions.

Can you do Eliot and Tara Cole too?
Eliot Spencer
How I feel about this character: I love him so much. I love that he’s not just a dumb muscles kinda action guy. He’s sophisticated. Clever. Calculated. Mysterious. A good cook. Cares for children. For his family. I love Eliot so much??
All the people I ship romantically with this character: Very occasionally I get in the mood for him and Nate, but generally I don’t really ship the main characters in this because I love how pure and family-like they are.
My non-romantic OTP for this character: Alec and Parker. BrOT3. So good. Those dorks.
My unpopular opinion about this character: HE DIDN’T SING ENOUGH. I loved when he sang?? Honestly, can you imagine a Musical Job?? Like, seriously, it’d have been hilarious?
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: More?? Seriously, I’d have lived for a kinda spin-off with him, Alec and Parker. Maybe Tara coulda joined. I... honestly, after The Broken Wing Job, I expected Amy, the waitress, to like... get into the know and join the team. I really loved her and Parker’s dynamic and would have loved that explored more. I’d have digged her to join a future team post Nate and Sophie leaving. Just. Eliot deserved more show. There wasn’t enough Leverage and there could have been more.
Tara Cole
How I feel about this character: The fact that I have a crush on her actress is completely irrelevant to how much I love her character. Totally no connection at all.
All the people I ship romantically with this character: Sophie Deveraux. Would also ship them in an OT3 with Maggie Collins.
My non-romantic OTP for this character: I mean, also Sophie.
My unpopular opinion about this character: There was too little of her.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: More. *points above*

There's a part of me that hopes that they just accidentally dropped the ball on Maia last season and this season will be better. Maybe they had meant to draw out all her family stuff, realized it was unpopular so they wrapped it up quickly, and had nothing else planned for her last minute. The first few episodes seemed like they cared and then after that... nope. An arc being mentioned for her in the first official synopsis seems kind of promising though.
I really, really hope so. I know there were complaints about the Rindell storyline but at least Maia was more than a background prop when it was happening - and I agree the first couple of episodes of Season 2 were good ones for her and Rose had the chance to show her talent in some strong scenes. After that, it really looks like the writers just didn’t know what to do with her (and I still can’t believe that they didn’t address at all the fact that she cheated on her girlfriend. What’s the point if it has no consequences, no character development? We barely saw Amy and Maia’s just... well nothing). I love the show as I loved The Good Wife but both have this major flaw in my opinion : when they’re not sure about what to do with a character, the writers just give up and stop making any effort, pretending like everything’s fine / it’s totally normal / probably hoping no one will notice something’s off (or even that a character disappeared without explanation like it happened a few times in The Good Wife). I really hope they’ll be more inspired for the new season and things will improve. I’m curious even though a bit scared that she’ll just “endure” what’s happening and be a victim again instead of actually doing stuff and being active and more interesting. (That would also be great to see her in court again !)

Gilderoy and enjolras 🔒🥖
Gilderoy Lockhart
How I feel about this character He’s an absolutely intriguing character (but again, my impression is probably mostly based on fanon as opposed to canon but hey.)
All the people I ship romantically with this character Uh… Rita Skeeter and him are intriguing. But I will forever believe he was in love with Xenophilius Lovegood (who he had a sort of relationship with and then he got married and had Luna and all that).
My non-romantic OTP for this character Xeno Lovegood and Caradoc Dearborn (The Ravenblondes!!!)
My unpopular opinion about this character ?
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon. Maybe some regaining memory and “Oh, that was a really bad idea, I should set things right now!”
(Probably Jean) Enjolras
How I feel about this character The love of my life. Enjolras is so incredible and such an inspiring character and I love him so much. I didn’t get into Les Mis until the 2012 movie came out (even though I had done a medley of Les Mis songs during my sophomore year of high school in choir class prior to the movie) but then, after seeing Aaron Tveit as Enjolras, I decided that I needed to learn more about Les Mis so I read the entirety of the Brick and I fell even more for the character of Enjolras.
All the people I ship romantically with this character Grantaire, absolutely. I love how opposite he is of Enjolras and this leader is still the one thing he believes in. He puts belief in nothing, takes care especially to not do so, but he puts his faith in this one man.
My non-romantic OTP for this character Combeferre and Courfeyrac mostly (but let’s be real, all of Les Amis de l’ABC too).
My unpopular opinion about this character I don’t know.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon. I freaking wish he would have survived (but I understand why he didn’t and all that) or that he had been a little kinder to Grantaire.

Don't you ever think people have decent reasons for disliking Chris since he's pretty selfish?
On the subject of him acting selfish at times: I’m pretty sure that was the point of his character arc.
I’ve said this unpopular opinion of mine before and I’ll say it again, but I like him as a character because he can do wrong. Like actual real life kids around his age, he’s capable of acting out of his own selfish needs, but he’s still respectful and caring of others and not a bad person at the same time. He was just a 12 year old kid who felt like Sonic was really the only person he could actually confide in, and in a universe where the majority of the adults appear to be dumber than rocks.(Why the hell would you leave something as important as an off switch to a dimensional teleporter off guard, to where anyone could just run up and shut it off, anyway?) I’ve been around actual spoiled and bratty children, too, and Chris would be fucking angel if he were a real person. Just because he acted selfish during some controversial moments, where emotions were running very high, does not make him an overall selfish person, and there’s plenty of examples that show that he does genuinely care about others and consider other’s feelings over his own. If anything, he’s actually very selfless, and he really does try very hard to do the right thing, especially when he snapped and kept Sonic from going home.(Or they watched the butchered English dub.)
He wasn’t a bad kid or a bad person, he was a flawed one.
The raging hate boner allot of Sonic fan’s have towards this character maybe wouldn’t get under my skin so much as it does if they weren’t such dicks about it, and if they didn’t reach so much to find every single tiny reason to vilify him and swear he’s fucking Veruca Salt or Satan and act like it’s a fact, when there’s plenty of things in canon that shows otherwise. Allot of these same people then have the gall to act like he’s worse than Amy was in the same show, or excuse other far worse things that have existed in the franchise’s history. I find it kind of telling how people are still bitter over something that was portrayed as a 12 year old child did.(Let alone how allot of people appear to have very unrealistic ideas or expectations of not only child characters, but actual children in real life.) Yet I bet these same people would not like it if others brought up the stupid shit they did when they around his age and held it against them, whether those actions should or should not have consequences.(And if they say they wouldn’t have done anything to keep something like Sonic from leaving, then they are lying through their teeth.)

@noncanonfan asked: “I'd love to hear your takes on Jason Stackhouse for the ask thing.”
Will do! 🙂
Jason Stackhouse:
Why I like them: He’s one of my favorite himbos in media! 🥰 But even with that, there’s a lot I love about him. He’s hilarious at times, he works to be a good brother for Sookie, he brave and loyal and willing to put himself in danger for the people he loves, he can be genuinely sweet, he does have a selfless and caring side underneath, he’s willing to re-evaluate his stance on the supernatural, he does have some good insights at times (even if he isn’t fully aware of it), and he does strive to be a better person. His character development was one of my favorite things about the show.
Why I don’t: There are times he can be callow and insensitive, but I’ve never believed it was out of maliciousness. He has also made some pretty bad decisions, but then again, what character hasn’t? True Blood is NOT a show where I look for moral purity in characters.
Favorite episode (scene if movie): So many great moments. Rescuing Sookie and Eric from FOTS with a paintball gun, saving Sam from Maryann’s followers by playing “The God Who Comes,” killing Franklin when he was about to murder Tara, saving Jessica from walking out into the sun, his interactions with Sookie and Jessica...............he had a lot of great scenes. My favorite episode of his is a tie between “Timebomb” (season 2, episode 8) and “I Will Rise Up” (season 2, episode 9).
Favorite season/movie: He was great in most of the seasons he was in, except maybe for season 1 (but he still had his moments there as well). For me, it’s a tie between season 2, season 4, and season 5. I like his FOTS story in season 2 and his attempts to save the town from Maryann later on. I also liked how he bonded with Sookie and Jessica in the later seasons, and worked to protect other people from all the supernatural chaos that was going on.
Favorite line: So many good lines!
1.) “It's like if a tree falls in the woods it's still a tree, ain't it? The whole point of being a hero is doing something greater than yourself.”
2.) “When you love someone, you gotta love it all. Otherwise, it ain’t love!”
3.) “People are always tryin’ to fuck up other people’s lives by tellin’ lies about ‘em. You wanna really fuck someone’s life up? Tell the truth about them. They ain’t ever gonna be the same.”
Favorite outfit: He’s naked most of the time, lol! 😂 But in all seriousness, he’s one of those characters who looks good in anything.
OTP: I’m splitting this between toxic OTP and Non-Toxic OTP since Jason’s relationships with women have been...........messy.
Toxic OTP: Amy/Jason. I know that Amy was NOT a nice person, and this relationship was a train-wreck, but I was still morbidly fascinated with it. Jason did genuinely love Amy, and I think Amy did love Jason in a twisted sort of way. Again, not a healthy relationship, but it was an interesting one.
Non-Toxic OTP: Jason/Brigette. I know it was brief and only happened in the last 2 episodes, but I did genuinely like their interactions and how they take the time to get to know each other without automatically jumping into sex. I wish Brigette had been introduced earlier though, and they had built up this relationship through season 7.
Brotp: Sookie and Jason + Andy and Jason. I love Sookie and Jason’s sibling relationship. I love how there was character development there, and how they both became supportive and protective of each other. Same goes for Andy and Jason. They didn’t start out great, but they developed a bromance by the end of the series that I loved.
Head Canon: I always believed Jason was secretly bisexual or bi-curious, and that the V brought those subconscious feelings out of him (including maybe some homoerotic feelings for Hoyt, who wasn’t a vampire), but was always in denial about being attracted to men because of how homophobic/biphobic southern culture is. Also, I headcanon that he owns several pairs of pink boxer briefs, and that pink is his favorite color!
Unpopular opinion: I think Jason’s stupidity is often taken out-of-context by most of this fandom, and he actually can be insightful at times, or even improvise in a dangerous situation (such as playing “The God Who Comes” to save Sam from Maryann’s followers, or creating a makeshift spear to stake Felton from a tree). That, and he’s actually willing to re-evaluate his perspectives and opinions on things, which no truly stupid person would ever do. Also, I think there were times Jason had valid reasons to dislike vampires (namely that vampires have kidnapped, tortured, raped, drained, and murdered humans in cold-blood, and that they either aren’t remorseful about it or they actively try to cover up their atrocities.)
A wish: I wish there had been more interactions between Sookie and Jason. I also wish Jason’s relationships with Crystal and Violet never happened, and that he was unable to undo some of the bad mistakes/choices he made. From a meta perspective, I wish that fans would give him credit for when he does something right, and for trying to grow as a person. I also wish certain fans would stop taking his words/actions out-of-context to justify hating him.
An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen: In terms of the reboot, I really hope they don’t make Jason like his book-counterpart (who was not a likable character), and that they keep the Sookie/Jason relationship the same from the original show. I have no interest in seeing their relationship from the books (which was unpleasant).
5 words to best describe them: Sexy, Brave, Flawed, Funny, Loyal
My nickname for them: Himbo Warrior

For Sleepover Wednesday: Unpopular Opinions that you have on West Wing. (Which I will probably agree with, since you pretty much always seem to articulate what I'm thinking about a particular scene :)
Oooookay very nice, time to lose friends and alienate people. Lol.
First of all, I love Amy. LOVE LOVE LOVE I DON’T EVEN CARE. I’m a huge fan of Mary Louise Parker and I think she has gorgeous chemistry with Brad and while Josh and Donna are my ultimate OTP, Josh/Amy are a beautiful tragic doomed almost, two people who so badly want it to work but it CAN’T and everyone knows it but that doesn’t mean they don’t wish it could hard enough that they keep trying much longer than they should.
Second, there are several post-Sorkin faves I just don’t really like. Like, most of them, tbh. Most of Santos’ up-and-coming staff I’m meh on, from Bram and Otto to Lou (even though I love Janeane a ton). I don’t hate them, but they never rise to a level that lets me love them anywhere near as much as the originals from the Bartlet administration. And I know, I know, I shouldn’t expect to cuz my heart started out with CJ and Toby and Josh and Donna, etc…but I do dearly love Matt and Helen and Annabeth and Kate and even Will–so I feel like they just didn’t put the same kind of effort in, to give the second round of campaigners subtle development with their background existence, the way even minor faves did in the early years. For example, it’s not like Margaret ever got her own episodes or anything, but she’s fabulous and a full person, and maybe that is a credit to the actress’ handling of what she was given, but still. For me, the Sorkin years were just better at giving us characters we cared about/were interested in even when they disappeared right after.
Third…I don’t know if this is unpopular or just random so nobody else has ever considered it, but I ship the heck out of Donna/Kate thanks to the scene when Kate offers Donna her support. Literal quote from that conversation that made Kate hella bi: “I just thought if you ever wanted someone–another woman…I don’t know. Is this completely inappropriate?”
sleepover wednesday
