I’m having a hard time not hating my grandfather now. I’m not trying very hard, but it’s so disappointing to see how horrible he’s turned. Like he’s catholic so there’s always those views looming in the background, but he’s always supported my mom and her sisters and wasn’t all shitty about my aunt’s abortion(s?) however long ago. But the man is father to three women, one is blind (my mom), another is the poster child for welfare (who is also pro-trump?????) and the last turned into a mean girl nurse, but there’s always at least one dud. He’s grandfather/great grandfather to like a dozen mixed race kids, one of whom is a married lesbian. I don’t get how he can vote away all of our rights and think he’s being a good person.
At this point, I’m not convinced he would care if any of us (minus the mean girl nurse) were suffering if we weren’t related to him.
When he voted for Trump the first time, I assumed it was because he leaned more conservative. Still didn’t think it was right, but I thought maybe he’d see the problem at some point. There’s no excuse now. He also, of course, only watches fox and will not believe my mom when she’s showing him actual facts from other news sources. Honestly almost everything he says and supports goes against what he should be doing as a devout catholic. Like the man goes to church almost every single day and has still learned nothing about being a good person.
He’s also like very pro Palestine (not in an antisemitic way, from what I’ve heard at least), and now his king is talking about wiping them out. But I’m sure he’d justify changing his decades upon decades held beliefs to bow down to his new idol.
There are so many other things, but honestly I don’t really talk to him. It’s mostly my mom venting to me about the conversations she’s having with him. I never had much of a relationship with him, so like I don’t mind cutting him out of my life, but my mom still loves him because he’s her dad and he didn’t used to be so bad, at least politically. I didn’t think he was all that great as a grandfather. But she and I had different experiences with him.
(There was no point to to post aside from venting my frustrations)
#I will say shout out to my grandma who’s staunchly anti-trump#I’m also really proud of my mom#one for putting up with her shitty family members#but also becoming more progressive as the years have gone by#she’s moved from just left of center to very left

Do not let them erase this. Do not let them tell you he meant "my heart goes out for you."
This man is the grandson of a Canadian Nazi sympathizer who moved to South Africa BECAUSE he thought the apartheid was just the coolest.
He has a gaggle of kids specifically because he believes his genes are superior and need to be spread to improve humanity.
He has thrown his support behind the neonazi party in Germany and the far right party in the UK, not to mention how far he's wormed up the ass of the Republican party.
He threw two sieg heil salutes back to back at the inauguration of the president of the United States and is trying to scrub the evidence off the internet.
Elon Reeve Musk is a fucking Nazi.

So I went to a Lego convention today and spent entirely too much money (like I could have gotten a couple of the sets for cheaper but I didn’t have cell service so I couldn’t check prices and was afraid I wouldn’t be able to get the sets)
Anyway, I’ve built two already (tribute to Jane Goodall and a cute raptor arcade machine). I got the 3-in-1 set to go with my space roller coaster and the hammerhead is just fun

Ugh I’m so used to just opening TikTok and scrolling for far too long that I have attempted to open the app 3 times in 5 minutes out of habit because I don’t particularly feel like reading or watching the show I’ve got paused. But TikTok is officially down for me
I’ll eventually get used to it, but scrolling TikTok is really how I spent most of my free time for the last 4 years. Not sure I’ll go back if it gets un-banned depending on how that happens (given ads I was seeing and changes to the app, it seems increasingly likely that Meta is in the process of buying it)
#TikTok is also where I got all my news#I mean I’d look into things elsewhere after seeing it on TikTok#but I never heard/read something before seeing it on TikTok#though given how much more awful the country is going to be in just 2 short days#I don’t know that I want to see the news as often as I do#also and most importantly FUCK THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT

Rewatching Doctor Who and I have questions that I’ve had through at least one other rewatch
These are just from Matt Smith’s seasons because that’s where I started (I love s1-4, but usually stop there because I don’t like 5-7 as much and there were always just too many questions and wtfs that I end up not continuing on)
How did the doctor remember the Silence long enough to come up with the “let’s mark our arms when we see one” plan? And why do they remember why they’ve marked their arms? (I know he explains it a little bit when they first start doing it, but it already assumed he remembers who the Silence are)
Why does no one seem to question a lizard woman and potato alien living in Victorian London? Sure there’s some weird looks occasionally, but like this should be news-worthy and history changing stuff. How did Madame Vastra even get there?
Why would the Time Lords be asking “Doctor Who?” through the crack? Idk if I just missed that explanation or not
Why did Clara not know who Amy was when 11 mentioned her right before regenerating? She literally went all through his time stream. There were things she knew in other episodes that I assumed she learned by going into his past given that we never see her told any of this information. So not knowing Amy seems weird
I’m really confused about the time war. I always thought they were “locked in time” like the Doctor “killed” them all by locking them in a perpetual war outside of like regular space time. But then in the 50th anniversary special, it seems like the moment was going to actually kill everyone. but then they change his past (and it doesn’t affect the doctor’s past selves because their timelines are out of sync…) and just remove the planet which means the Daleks will shoot each other. Would they not stop as soon as they realized a whole ass planet disappeared and now you have billions of daleks running around space to terrorize other planets?
This is just a gripe: I don’t like that Amy and Rory die. River is just gone. and then suddenly the doctor is all oogly over Clara and we don’t learn that River is dead until the last episode of season 7. Idk if I missed something or should have just taken River’s absence to mean that their last adventure together was in The Angels Take Manhattan and then she goes off to the library of the dead (of course this gets retconned a bit when she has her last date with 12 in season 9)
Also, Clara went from being a nanny to a teacher? It’s a fine progression, but it just happens; no mention of the change at all
So, we’ve got our mini people inside the robot person and they’re from the future and they hunt down bad guys to punish. Cool got it makes sense. They go after River because she killed the doctor in the s6 premiere. Cool got it. He’s actually in the robot when he gets “killed”. At that point, the doctor is not dead and pretty much everyone in the universe knows he’s not dead by the end of s7 (even after being “deleted” from records and shit). So the robot people wouldn’t have gone back in time to punish river… so he wouldn’t have had a robot to hide in so he would have died
Matt Smith’s regeneration episode - Clara questions the Silence about them making her forget them. But anyone else that sees them forgets when they turn away and then when they see them again has no memory of ever seeing them. They never get to the point of remembering enough to question how they got forgotten
I had more questions while I watched, but can’t remember them now. Some things that had confused me originally actually did get explained and I either missed it or forgot, but it wasn’t all bad
As an aside, I loved Tennant in the 50th anniversary special especially since I skipped his seasons this time around.
#Doctor Who#maybe an unpopular opinion: I really didn’t care for Amy#she treated Rory like trash constantly#would absolutely have cheated on him the night before her wedding if the doctor had been up for it#only seemed to love Rory when it was a life or death situation#other unpopular opinion: I really like River#her story is a bit all over the place but the character was fun#and Alex Kingston did a fantastic job playing her
