#Herstory #UnDíaComoHoy #TrinidadGallego Prieto (Madrid, 28/10/1913 - Barcelona, 9/11/2011), #enfermera y #comadrona titulada universitaria, militante comunista y republicana, fue una de las #matronas más duramente perseguidas por la dictadura franquista. Con el fin de transmitir su experiencia a las jóvenes de las nuevas generaciones y contribuir a que la historia no quedara en el olvido, formó parte del grupo de mujeres que, en 1997 constituyeron la #AsociaciónMujeresdel36. Su testimonio oral forma parte de la colección Fondo oral Mujeres del 36 que se conserva en el Archivo Histórico de la Ciudad de Barcelona. Estudió enfermería y obtuvo su título universitario en 1934. En 1935 se afilió al PCE. En 1936 formó el Comité de Enfermeras Laicas, con el que protestó contra el monopolio de adjudicación de plazas de hospital por parte de las órdenes religiosas femeninas. El 18/7/1936 el PCE le encargó la misión de organizar un comité del Frente Popular del Hospital Clínico de Madrid, San Carlos y un hospital de sangre. Durante la guerra trabajó en varios quirófanos allí donde la destacó su partido, llegando a ser asimilada a alférez en 1938. Al terminar la guerra fue detenida y encarcelada junto con su madre y su abuela en la prisión de Ventas. Condenadas a muerte, les fue conmutada la pena por la de 30 años de prisión, por el delito de adhesión a la rebelión militar. Ante las condiciones higiénico sanitarias de la prisión, y a pesar de las instrucciones del partido en torno a que no trabajasen en prisión, el grupo de internas con formación en enfermería, cocina…, se organizaron de modo que, con toda clase de trucos, lograron que las condiciones higiénicosanitarias mejoraran y se redujera el índice de mortalidad. Dada su condición de matrona titulada, fue trasladada con su madre y abuela a la prisión de Amorebieta. En 1941 se revisaron sus sentencias y las tres fueron puestas en libertad, desterradas a Alicante. Allí Trinidad fue detenida otra vez por un delito cometido en 1936. Fue liberada en 1943 y vuelta a detener en 1946, cumplió condena en Jaén. Salió en libertad en 1949. September’s here and it’s reminding me of my initial pull towards Gaulpol. The signs the ancestors, who I refer to as ‘bees’ for various reasons, sent. The delightful syncretism that was shown to me then. (Attack bees, healing springs and headlessness, so catholic and oh so Gaulish 🤪) I’m looking forward to exploring the Matronae, depicted above holding a cornucopia and with a bee relief above them, as ancestral deities this year.

Sandstone Mother Goddess in high backed throne, from Iron Age Wales. She is holding a round native wild crab apple (Malus sylvestris) in one hand, with a pine branch (Pinus sylvestris) in the other. Her identity cannot be certain but she may be Modron, so ancient she was nearly forgotten even to the Mabinogian which names her in passing as the mother of Arthur's knight and hero Mabon ("Youth"), while a few other fragmentary documents give at least her name. Modron's consort, the father of Mabon, was Melit ("Lightning") not otherwise attested but likely the British Celtic version of Gallo-Celtic god Loucetios ("Lightning") whose consort was Nemetona ("She Is A Sacred Grove"), similar to Jupiter and Juno. Another old text identifies her with the supernatural Washer by the Ford, daughter of Afallach, and mother of twins, a boy Owain who became a Knight of the Round Table, and a girl Morfudd who is the same as Olwen the mother of the Britonic poet Talieson. Wherever she set her foot, white flowers (eirlys aka snowdrops) erupted from the ground. A Roman text says she was known as Dea Matrona. She may have been one of the Matronae which were worshipped as a trio of matrons who were variously shown with baskets offruit, loaves of bread, or fostering babies. At Hadrian's Wall was a shrine to Matrona and Maponos, the same as Modron and Mabon. The Romans identified Maponos with Apollo, so the Washer by the Ford legend of her birthing twins might well be Apollo-like Owain and Artemis-like Morfudd/Olwen, leaving us to conclude Modron/Matrona was the same as Leto Greek goddess of moon and sun, and her origin was in turn in the Arabian Sun-mother Allatu.

❄- What is this oc's favorite and least favorite food?

Matrona loves pork. She almost hunted the giant porcupine-boar population in Gigantea to extinction because she liked them so much. The only thing she doesn't like about it is having to pick out the pikes. She has to though since there are no normal-ish giant sized boars.

She hates salad. Or any type of vegetable really. She prefers meat of all else, and feels like fruits at least have flavors, but veggies just aren't her thing. She's like a child when their put in front of her.

☁️- What is this oc's clothing style like?

Branch likes dressing very modestly. Plain clothes. If he wasn't as powerful as he was you'd never guess he was one much different than any other Earth Nymph. The crown of thorns on his head was something he made after his sister was killed. He used to wear one of flowers like Bloom.

⚡- How well does this oc sleep?

Orthrus is full of energy but when he sleeps, he can sleep just about anywhere. And not much besides either Typhon or one of the other Ten's voices calling him will stir him. He used to fall asleep in enemy territory and just lie there while they tried to attack him. He's still alive, so you can guess how well that went.

💧- What is this oc most passionate about?

Gadfly is surprisingly passionate about cutting hair. He used to style the hair of all the female members of the Ten, and he'll still cut hair for most people who ask. It seems really quick from the person who's hair he's cutting, but for his speed he's being incredibly meticulous.

My heart is burning.

When I was lost, I was gifted an icon of St. Matrona of Moscow by my dear friend and roommate at the time. She prayed over me frequently, and I was appreciative of her kindness, but did not understand fully the work she was doing for me spiritually.

I learned more about St. Matrona yesterday. Her story moved something so deep within me that I can’t quite name. I had been leaning towards Catholicism, but the Orthodox saints are swaying me.

Please pray for me as I continue to discern. Thanks and glory be to God for His divine revelation in the world and in my heart.
