pt II our flag means death but I've never watched it
HELLO OFMD FANDOM! It's the Good Omens Mascot and Resident Dumbass, back again for part II. First, let's clear the air of all controversy!
Some of you lovely maggots were kind enough to warn me about certain discourse about a salad spoon and also about a certain gentleman named Izzy. I was warned not to make assumptions and not to take sides, and I hear some members had to leave the fandom for a while because it got toxic. Maggots. All the rest of you. Worry not about me. I'm here to unite the OFMD fandom! How, you ask? By being so undeniably stupid in my own opinions that you all will have to unite to disagree with me. You underestimate the power of my dumbassery. Well, let's not dilly dally and dawdle, here's the updated summary:
I have been informed there is cannibalism on this ship but it is not real. Someone pretends to eat someone and then their wife helps them fake their death while they run away from the ship though their lover wanted them to run to China.
There are BDSM lesbians, which is honestly such a slay, Pinterest has let me down by not informing me of that when I made Part I. I will no longer be using Pinterest a reliable source in future academic essays.
Mermaid Stede performs necromancy while a song called Kate Bush plays (I don't know who this is, a politician? Idk whether of US or UK).
Gravy Basket is a destination and Buttons is a sea witch and there is educational stabbing. Buttons is then a bird because of the BDSM lesbians.
There is a lady who is extremely beautiful and intimidating and powerful and she has twenty husbands and I assumed incorrectly that you were all talking about a Jack Russel terrier.
Let's start with the controversy! Izzy. Secondary protagonist or antagonist? Good or bad? Kindly father figure or homoerotically charged friend? Necessary death or not? No no no. Behold:
I present a new question, a hot take sizzling from the pan: Did Izzy really exist?
Personally, I firmly believe that no, he did not. I believe that the rum on the ship was spiked with hallucinogens.
Izzy was simply the manifestation of Ed's Freudian subconscious, taking the shape of a human being, vaguely resembling a humanoid potato Ed was forced to boil as a kid. I was a psychology student with a final grade of 99% and I accept only destructive criticism on my posts thank you. Feel free to discuss whether he boiled the potato in a fit of rage or whether he was forced to.
There are assorted Ned's, Mary's and an uncertain number of Jeff's on ship.
One of the Jeff's is an accountant, and there is a nonbinary talking sword named Jim. Actually I'm not sure if they talk.
Love you all, rooting for the show to be renewed.
REMINDERS. Be polite to each other in the reblogs, on tumblr reblogs spread posts and not likes (which don't do anything for visibility) unlike other social media sites, but MOST IMPORTANTLY.
I ACCEPT ONLY DESTRUCTIVE CRITICISM, THIS BLOG IS A GODLESS, LAWLESS LAND, AND ALL RAGE AT EACH OTHER MUST BE REDIRECTED AT ME. UNDERSTOOD? YAY.

I think some of the backlash about Luce makes sense in the context of Western Church history.
I mean, we Protestants have generations worth of tradition when it comes to faith-based mascots—Bob and Larry, Bible Man, Jungle Jam and Friends, Psalty the Singing Songbook, Sir Oliver and the Music Machine, the list goes on and on. Catholics just don't have that kind of rich theological and artistic tradition to fall back on.

okay, i’m going to speak my truth here
i watched the cody ko/danny gonzalez baseball mascot ranking collab and i think baseball teams (or any sports team with a mascot) should literally just have a fursuiter design and make their mascot suits
THEY ARE ALWAYS SO UGLY AND DISPROPORTIONATE??
yk what would happen if they commissioned a furry to do that shit?? the end result would be colorful, charming, and recognizable
maybe even more comfortable for the wearer!!
really weird hill to die on but i stand firm

a summar(ule)y of 196 culture
since the tumblr veterans have been kind enough to introduce us newbies to their site and culture, i think it is only fair that we explain the culture of our glorious former home to any tumblr users who might be interested in the #196 tag. keep in mind, all these things are based on my perspective of the situation.
first of all, some general information (that you might’ve already heard):
196 (r/196 on reddit) was a subreddit with only one (official) rule; "post before you leave." it was mainly a meme/shitposting sub, but it cultivated a large queer and left-leaning community. in protest of the recent api chances in reddit, 196 has shut down indefinitely until reddit reverts these changes.
now for some culture/references that you might come across
spronkus kronkus:
spronkus is this yellow, rabbit-like creature.
they were the mascot of our subreddit. their appearance can vary from images to image, but as far as i’m aware, their full outfit consists of a bandanna in the colours of the trans flag around their neck, a gun labelled as such (other wise you obviously wouldn’t know what you’re looking at), and an axe also coloured like the trans flag.
r/place:
this is a rare event on reddit where the entire website gets a huge white canvas and can start creating pixel art on it. 196 participated by collaboratively creating our mascot, spronkus with "196!" written next to them.
this version of the pixel art was recreated by me as i couldn't find a nice image of it. there were some changes between the first version and the end result, so this might not be exactly how it looked in the end
post titles/"rule":
reddit forces it's users to title every post they make. as most of the posts on 196 spoke for themselves, many user instead titled their posts "rule", to indicate that they followed the subreddit's only rule. some people also tried to make puns with the word or tried to include it in words that shared some letters (example: wor(ule)d).
anarcho-stripperism:
as the amount of cropped porn jokingly posted to the subreddit increased, the moderators decided that porn would be banned from the sub, with one exception: anarcho-stripperism. she made food fucking videos, in which she jokingly tested the fuckability of different food items (fruits, pasta, etc.)
bigotry showcase:
bigotry showcase was a post flair (basically the reddit equivalent of tags) on the subreddit and was later restricted to only be used on saturdays. under this flair people posted instances of different forms of bigotry to make fun it.
eating babies/hungryposting:
at some point, the subreddit started to pretend to like eating babies, which started a variety of memes regarding the subject. even a post flair called "hungrypost" was added because of this
goblinhog:
goblinhog is the most prominent and well-known member of the 196 moderation team. besides this, on 196 he was mostly known for changing people’s flair if you enjoyed him enough about it.
flairs:
flairs are little tags that are displayed under your name in posts or comments, they are also subreddit specific. most subreddits give their users a palette of preset flairs and the option to make your own custom flair. however, in 196 you only had the option to customize your flair during special events. if you wanted to customize your flair outside of those events (which was basically the entire time), you had to ask a mod to do it for you.
punching nazis:
from time to time, the same gif of a person with a nazi armband getting punched in the face, and promptly falling to the ground, was reposted to the subreddit. this became a sort of tradition.
discourse/drama
wasp discourse:
the wasp discourse was a one to two weeks long heated discussion that generally divided the subreddit into two factions. one side said that they were justified in killing wasps if they were attacked by them, while the other claimed that since wasps are just animals, they aren't aware of what they're doing in the same way humans are, and therefore should be spared.
drama about the british:
there was a time when jokes along the lines of "ew, british" became pretty frequent on the subreddit. as a response, some user claimed that this was akin to racism and tried to get others to stop with the jokes. a debate over whether or not it was important or necessary to stop followed afterwards.
pillar discourse:
this was a debate over which type of pillar should be considered the best (ionic; doric; corinthian). i have seen the question "which pillar is the best?" being used as a sort of greeting between 196 refugees on here.
related subreddits
195:
195 was the predecessor to 196, and also was a social experiment with the same premise as 196 (one rule, post before you leave). as the creators of 195 ended the experiment, the community wanted something with the same vibe to continue posting, and thus 196 was born.
197:
197 is another part of the 196 ecosystem and is commonly understood to be the more politically right-leaning and bigoted as 196, as some people who were banned from 196 continued posting there. besides that, the subreddits were essentially the same in terms of how they functioned.
19684:
this subreddit adds a second rule which banned all mentions of sex (that’s why it’s name is a pun on 1984). some people took this as banning all discussion of sexuality, which resulted in a community that was slightly less accepting of queer people. it is currently still up and running as the 196 moderation team wants a way to stay in contact with the community.
amendments to the posts:
u/femboy_expert:
another well-known 196 user. as the name suggests they're an expert on the subject of femboys, with their flair on 196 reading "phd in feminine boys". as the subreddit was somewhat obsessed with femboys, it's no wonder that they became popular.
u/shitcum_backup:
this was the main account of a pretty popular shitposter on the subreddit. although i didn't see them as much in the last few months, i remember them sometimes having a unique speaking pattern, in which they referred to themself in the third person.
u/monko74:
this user commented "Every day I thank god for not making me a r/196 celebrity," which led to many users of the subreddit treating them like a micro celebrity. there are even a few subreddits solely dedicated to u/monko74.
691:
a sister subreddit that inverts the rule of 196, here you would be (temporarily) banned for posting. some time ago the members of this sub initiated a rebellion/revolution against the bot who performed all the bans (roomba).
u/Smart_Calendar1874:
this wasn’t necessarily part of the subreddit, but it was a pretty popular meme. and since it’s getting posted on here again, and i know enough about it, i’ll add it to the post. this user made a post to r/AskReddit titled "How would you get a small cylinder (5.1in length, ~4.5in girth) unstuck from a mini M&Ms tube filled with butter and microwaved mashed banana? [sic]" it was pretty clear that they were referring to their penis, yet they continued to claim "it’s a cylinder," in the comment section. this lead to comments like "it is imperative that the cylinder […] remains unharmed," in response to people’s advice of cutting the m&m tube.
it's going to be very interesting to see which aspects of 196 culture are going to survive the tumblr migration, and which aspects won't be applicable on this site.
i'm obviously not the ultimate scholar on 196 lore. if i’ve missed or left out anything, or said something wrong, please comment it.

A blankqueer coining post as well as a mascot proposal
As everyone in the Radqueer community knows, our community doesn't have many stand out figures, especially when it comes to marketing. Me and some other people in a Radqueer Discord server I'm in started talking about how a certain person would be a great Radqueer icon.
Currently, I am watching UHF. The movie made by "Weird Al" Yankovic from the late 90s. Weird Al is my current hyperfixation, and so we had been talking about him passively in chat while I was watching it. Someone pointed out that Weird Al should be the official Radqueer mascot. I am going to attempt to support this claim.
Al Yankovic doesn't seem to be much of a Radqueer person himself. I do believe that his beliefs line up with the ones of the Radqueer stance, but he himself isn't a paraphile, transID, etc. Where my view on this comes from is the fact that in my mind, Al Yankovic is the embodiment of acceptance. When I think of Al, I think of safety, comfort, humor, and acceptance. Like Radqueers, he wouldn't judge anyone, or tell anyone to die over something as silly as an opinion or label. As someone who has very personal connections with Al Yankovic, I can say that he is Radqueer, and deserves to be the one person anyone thinks of when they hear the word Radqueer.
Because of this conversation, I have decided to make a new blankqueer label, which I would like to be the staple of the Radqueer community one day.
I present to you...
Alqueer!!!!

[current alqueer flag, using @notsadsatan's idea of reclaiming the original 70s queer flag]
Here are the things that Alqueer stands for:
Anti-harassment
Anything silly, wacky, and goofy
Pro-kindness [ @notsadsatan ]
Making discourse and labels like shipping stances and contact stances not the main focus of the community
Live and let live, acceptance of everybeing
Anti-noncon abuse of any kind as well as pro-consent
A welcoming community to literally anybeing who isn't hateful
Pro-recovery and being always open to helping people recover if they desire
Not judging or making fun of anybeing, always being respectful
Making friends and being welcoming to everybeing
And just in general; enjoy Weird Al and have fun!

I hope you hear me out on my proposal. :)

We make posts about pretty much anything you'd see in a general kindergarten-thru-5th grade classroom!
Anon list, Rules, and what I WON'T make posts on below the cut!
We follow from @umbragoetia

PLEASE don't slander bugs here!! I understand a lot of people are afraid of them or don't like them, but this blog is heavily bug-loving and bug-themed. I'm banning any kind of anti-bug stuff in reblogs or comments and if you do this I'm going to block you! If you can't say something nice about bugs, don't say anything at all! Skip the post!
WILL NOT DO:
Large Monkeys/Primates (Apes, Gorillas, Chimps, etc). Small monkeys are fine!
Dr Seuss. Due to his past with Nazis and Antisemitism, I'm not comfortable doing anything related to Doctor Seuss as a Jewish person.
Mature Media. While I'm a regressor who LOVES horror (The Walking Dead, the Conjuring, Slashers, zombies, etc) and other adult shows (Beavis and Butthead, Metalocalypse, etc), this blog is run like a classroom, and I wont do anything with themes of blood or gore. I'll still do things for the characters if I know them!! You wouldn't see the teacher showing bloody movies in their class, even if your parents say it's fine to watch at home! Try to keep this blog PG-13 with things like blood and swearing!
Anything Political. While I'm a very political person with plenty of opinions and stances, I won't post about them on Sunnimals. This blog is a safe space, a quick escape from the outside world-- I don't want to trigger or cause undue stress to myself or other little ones.
**Endogenic systems, while usually being only misinformed and are not generally always 'faking' systemhood, still perpetuate misinformation and ableism about systems. I'd like to keep my blog accessible and safe to those with plural disorders, and Endos are not safe towards them. They've made this obvious by invading spaces, ignoring DNIs, and harassing not only others who want nothing to do with them, but by harassing me personally. I have really tried to be nice, but this rule is strict and final. Endo-Neutrals are on thin ice.

Hi swamp jawn. Didn’t realize you had a tumblr, but ig that’s on brand.
Just wanted to say that your work is really amazing — in the literal sense of the word. My first exposure to you was when you were grinding DunMeshi (surprise) and it was originally just a “oo I need to engage with discourse abt how this anime in a genre I have no interest in is really owning my ass this season, let’s see if this video scratches the itch”, but immediately, I exp’d the awe and uhh.. the secular version of reverence (admiration isn’t quite right… respect doesn’t quite cut it either… sth [gestures] though) like probably a ton of people around that time. Not only the way you convey info (also lucky: having a comfy voice), but the whole “wow! This key animator did this thing in these three frames! And this next section didn’t have credits, but I think this other person worked on it bc of xyz which I’ve seen in other works” is like….. so crazy (positive)… it’s like a quality of visual analysis/explanation that I haven’t really had exposure to before, but wholeheartedly adore in literary review. Kinda similar to how people who can just recite esoteric/poetic/deeply moving quotes on the fly. Super cool energy that I couldn’t honestly even realistically aspire toward. Keep up the cool work.
Anyway, my partner got me the moe lil keychain of your mascot, and a friend who studied illustration/animation in college got real excited when she recognized it. We chatted abt your channel a bit, and are looking forward to what you’ll do next.
Cheers, take good care of yourself, and have a rad weekend.
I don't usually post this kind of thing because it feels self-congratulatory, but this is so cool and sweet to hear people connecting over this stuff. I'm still very new to this, so it's crazy to hear! thank you!

Why the fight for queer rights isn't over (it should be obvious, but to some people it isn't)
TW: transphobia and homophobia
Hi, Tumblr, this is Asmi. If you know me, it's probably as the Good Omens Mascot, which is flattering. I've found so much love and queer positivity in the good omens fandom, and the beautiful thing is how it's canon. Many people outside the queer community don't realise how crucial media and communities like this are. Right now since I'm on break from education, I'm on tumblr for most of the time I'm awake (which is not a lot, I nap more than Crowley). It's wild how different it is from the real world, that I live in at least.
I'm sure a lot of you might have had a similar experience to this: Basically, two people in my life, my bio father and my ex, both told me to my face that queer people needed to stop calling themselves oppressed and how now it's queer people who hold all the power and are oppressing other people. With all due respect, what the fuck.
I live in India, and being a trans guy who is bi and aspec, it's a cesspit. While I'm gendered correctly on Tumblr, and people are so loving and supportive, in real life even my friends who say they support me misgender me 90% of the time. Same with my family. In my previous college which I had to leave because of bullying by both the students and admin, even the queer students would misgender me (I told them I used they/them pronouns, because he/him would have been too unsafe, but even that they didn't manage). In the college I'll join next, it won't be safe for me to be out at all, at risk of losing opportunities and safety. Gay marriage is still illegal. Homophobia and transphobia is the norm. This doesn't even cover all the daily indignities like queerphobic jokes, casual discourse on whether or not we deserve rights, etc. Discrimination against aroace-spec people is rampant even within the queer community, worldwide.
And I live in an urban area, one of the largest cities in India known for its progressiveness and for being relatively safe for queer people. I am privileged compared to other queer people here. The story in other cities, in rural areas which make up most of the country, is far more horrifying. I'm unqualified to speak about anything other than my own experience, but if you can (if you are in a stable and calm enough mental state to handle the information, please put your mental health first) I'm sure there are first person accounts on the many forums.
The fight for equality is not over. It doesn't end with laws riddled with loopholes, it doesn't end even with laws that genuinely help the queer community. Aside from the huge problems of living safely and with access to equal opportunities and resources for people, we deserve dignity, peace, and the right to feel accepted and that we're not an abnormality. And so much more.
I haven't said anything that hasn't been said before, but it can't be said enough. To the queer people reading this, take all my love. We need to stand together, eliminate discourse over who is queer enough to be queer, and be the safe space that the world will not provide for us.
It's not over, and it hasn't been won by a long shot, but what matters is that we're fighting. Even existing as ourselves in a world that tells us it is a crime, is defiance and a step towards making this right.

So with the newest Pokemon Horizons episodes coming out last Friday there's been a lot of discussion about Roy showing the ability to feel his Lucario's aura. I'm not going to get into the discourse of whether or not Roy is an Ash clone (because I haven't been keeping up with this new anime super religiously to make an informed opinion one way or the other), but I am going to defend the writer's decision for letting Roy have this kind of connection We have to remember that in the Pokemon worldbuilding aura is something that every living creature in that world has. And even though Riolu and Lucario are like the mascots of aura there are other Pokemon with Pokedex descriptions of being able to sense aura and a multitude of Pokemon who can learn moves like aura sphere which implies a degree of aura manipulation. So if that is the case with Pokemon...it stands to reason that this would involve the human population. Again all humans in the Pokemon World have aura (to the point that I personally theorize that it's a biological necessity to exist in the Pokemon world). So just by using statistics there is going to be a number of people who probably can sense it. Again the worldbuilding already lends itself to humans having psychic powers (to the point there's even a whole trainer class that has it beyond just certain major NPCs), being able to acquire ghost powers (again to the point where there's whole trainer classes with this power beyond just the major NPCs), and people who can even commune with Pokemon. So it's stands to reason that the ability to sense aura would be something that pops up more frequently among the population than just Ash, RIley, Rye and Sir Aaron. If anything I'd argue it should be probably the most common supernatural ability because aura is something that is inherent in all living beings. Of the supernatural abilities we see in Pokemon, aura has been the least explored but I think Roy showing this gives it an opportunity actually be explored more, if the anime writers are willing to do so beyond just adding this for the cool factor.
I personally welcome the idea of seeing more characters exhibit the ability to sense if not manipulate aura so we can get more ideas of what it can and can't do. Plus you can see how people deal with their powers. Some people may try to walk the path of being an aura guardian, and some may just want to learn to control their powers if it ends up being particularly detrimental to them. We know with Caitlin and Sabrina that they struggled with their psychic powers, so perhaps something similar could happing with aura powers too. And some still may only want to hone one aspect and go about their daily lives. Considering we know aura can be transferred for healing purposes, it'd be cool for example to see a medical professional in the series who learns to control it enough to help heal others.
I just think there's a lot of potential that could be explored and I think Roy showing some ability opens the door for this exploration.

Finally ppl are talking about Jayce background erasure like I feel like some arcane fans will turn a blind eye to Jayce's hardships, struggles and him in general just to lift up the other characters so much so that it's bluring him as a character. Jayce is working class, lost his father, almost died trying to reach Piltover, came from a lower house and depended on the Kiramann's money, him and his mother livehood on a tight spot. Like in the first moments we see of him are:
Him almost dying as a child
Him losing the work of a lifetime
Him being threatened to exile only saved by his mother pleads
Him almost killing himself
Even after being successful ppl kept using him as a marketing mascot and then as a political figure. Even in the council he tried to do right by Zaun and realized he shouldn't decide for Zaunites, consulted with Viktor, and even signed peace with Silco in exchange for their independence before Jinx shot the council. Btw I cannot belive there was actual discourse about Jayce shadowing Viktor during their partnership. It's crazy.
In season 2 his mistake was not letting Viktor die, a selfish action with big consequences for Viktor. He then gets absorbed into the arcane going through literal hell and becoming disabled himself. The fandom was so fast to turn on him when he shot Viktor even seeing his state and when it's demonstrated he was right it was like "eh whatever" bc I do think some ppl like Jayvik but not Jayce. Also I think he was right about being angry at Mel for using him, but he could never hate her and he keeps supporting her bc they did love each other in the end.
My hot take is that Jayce tried as hard as characters like Ekko, the difference is that Ekko wasn't put in the spot of making political decision that he was not prepared for, he was not played like a puppet unlike Jayce. He just don't get the recognition bc there are huge biases in the fandom and Jayce ends up reduced to a himbo/pretty face that is naive, the smiley guy who doesn't get it and is always wrong. Even CL (ew) says he was just the face of hextech as if he wasn't the one who created the theory and idea.
As a last note, I don't think ppl treat Jayce's sequels from the arcane seriously like his leg, ptsd, etc. I feel like I hardly seen it reflected in fanfiction or fanart. I think it would really nice to make more deep dives at this character that seems simple on the surface, but has a lot going on.
Anyways end of rant I needed to get it off my system.
And just in case this isn't hate towards any ship or character I genuinely don't think I hate anyone on the show lmao Perhaps Maddie. Good riddance.
#jayce talis#jayce arcane#viktor arcane#mel medarda#arcane#arcane league of legends#like finally!! finally ppl are talking about it!!#i wasnt crazy or reading the show wrong!!#also this isnt a competition of who suffered more#but a lot of ppl ar3 acting like they would know what to do in a civil war or being told you need to kill your bestfriend and potential#soulmate like lets be real#jayvik#jaymel

It irks me to no end that despite how AI discourse has turned so many people online into outright reactionaries on the topic of copyright legislation, people are still confidently stating outright misinformation as if it were fact. So let me once again try to get it through your thick skulls:
Copyright applies to individual works. Furthermore, copyright has fixed terms, life of the author plus 70 years for copyright owned by individuals and 95 years from publication/120 years from creation (whichever's shorter) for copyright owned by corporate entities.
What this means is that no, the new live action Lilo & Stitch or Snow White is not going to push the expiration of the copyright back. Short of another Mickey Mouse Protection Act, it will become completely legal to distribute, copy, display, make derivative works, etc of both of these movies by 2097 and 2032 respectively.
Disney has absolutely no need to "renew" their copyright nor can they by making a new film. The live action films have no bearing on the animated originals losing copyright protection, just as the fact that Disney is still producing Mickey Mouse cartoons had no effect on Steamboat Willie entering the public domain in 2024.
You may be confusing copyright legislation with trademarks, the form of intellectual property that protects logos, mascots, jingles, product names and any and all other kind of symbols that identify a product and are used to advertise it. Those are only protected for as long as they are used to sell a product and they can be lost due to failure to litigate against those infringing against them.
You may also be confusing them with licensing deals of the kind Marvel (and other companies, but Marvel is the high profile example) used to make with film studios according to which they were sold the exclusive right to adapt their works to other mediums but the rights reverted to them if they failed to continuously create adaptations every certain number of years.
Please learn how this stuff actually works if you are going to talk about it. It's embarrassing to see you all make fools out of yourselves with this specific part of the conversation when you are all so eager to bootlick copyright legislation.
Sincerely,
A fan creator and copyright abolitionist from the global south who actually looked into how US copyright legislation works.

I’d LOVE if American politics didn’t have such an influence on the rest of the world, frankly. I’d LOVE to be ignorant as fuck, blissfully unbothered. Maybe my blood pressure would finally hit normal levels, and I could crochet without fantasising about impaling my own eye with the giant needle. That’d be class, actually.
But no. Thanks to the small man cosplaying jaundice and his South African dweeb sidekick, I’ve never felt more apathetic.
And honestly as a Brit, especially after Starmer’s recent speech—where he actually suggested we approach terrorism with evidence and reports, rather than plucking solutions out of our collective arses—maybe I don’t want him to come out swinging like a hormonally imbalanced teenage boy. Why should we sink into the global descent into petulance?
I genuinely think we’re forgetting what sane people sound like. Justice isn’t supposed to look like the climax of an action film where we can all cheer and relish in bloody revenge. It’s a long, arduous process that requires meaningful legislative and societal changes—not cheap theatrics or pandering to the loudest, most petulant voices in the room.
And boy, are those voices fucking loud.
Take Musk, for example. Whether it’s his support for the AfD in Germany (because promoting the far-right in Germany has never gone badly, has it, lads?), or calling a woman who’s spent 15+ years fighting male violence a rape apologist (Jess Phillips forever), or using his platform to amplify political figures while tossing out a ‘Roman’ salute… I mean, the Nazis were big fans of that gesture too, so why not?
And the discourse. Oh, the discourse. We’ve reached the point where people are outraged that a Christian might actually preach… Christian values. God forbid someone echo the historical Jesus by fighting for the oppressed! He’s only supposed to exist as a mascot for bigotry and discomfort—justifying your hatred of others because your parents never held space for you, so why should anyone else?

I'm curious by what you mean by 'jrpg flavored' in fantasy writing? :0
with tedious discourse making the rounds on twitter i really picked a bad time to use that descriptor huh lol
but it's nothing more complicated than what it sounds like: i'm writing fantasy heavily inspired by the games that i fell in love with as a teen. i think a number of contemporary fantasy authors would point to something like ff7 as a creative influence; i'm just being really unsubtle about it. the influence manifests in various ways, from the aesthetic sense to the tales titles to the blend of modern technology with traditional fantasy worldbuilding. from the, kefka with titties to the mascot animal,
"jrpg" as a term carries a lot of baggage from the era when it was considered synonymous with "blue hair pretty boys stupid story lol!!!!" maybe with the conversation from this year it's becoming an antiquated descriptor. for now, it's the most easily understood way to reference the conventions of a genre that i love.
