THE DESCRIPTION OF MARY, HELP OF CHRISTIANS Feast Day: May 24
The Blessed Virgin Mary is venerated under the title of 'Help of Christians', because of her motherly protection, especially in times of danger and war.
In the Holy Gospel of John, Jesus entrusted the Church to the protection of Mary at the foot of the cross, when he said to John, who represented all Christians: 'This, is your Mother!'
In the Acts of the Apostles on the day of Pentecost, when the disciples gathered in the cenacle of Jerusalem with fear and trepidation, Mary was in their midst and to convey serenity and faith.
This Marian title was used for the first time in a homily by St. John Chrysostom in the year 345; and it is included in one of the oldest Marian prayers - Sub Tuum Praesidium, which is translated as 'Under Your Protection.'
As the Ottoman Turks were marching against Europe in 1571, Pope St. Pius V asked the faithful to invoked the Blessed Mother under the title of 'Mary, Help of Christians.'
The defeat of the Turks at the Battle of Lepanto on the 7th of October was attributed to her intercession, and the Pope inserted the title of 'Auxilium Christianorum' or 'Help of Christians' in the Litany of Loreto.
On May 24, 1814 to commemorate his return to Rome, Pope Pius VII instituted the liturgical feast of Mary, Help of Christians after six years of imprisonment at the hands of the anti-Christian emperor of France, Napoleon Bonaparte.
This Marian devotion was popularized by St. John Bosco, who built a great basilica in Turin, Italy in her honor, and founded, with Maria Domenica Mazzarello, a religious congregation under the title - The Daughters of Mary, Help of Christians (now called Salesian Sisters of Don Bosco).

Even if you aren't religious, please say a Hail Mary or Our Father for us. Thank you.

When you're one of the most selfish mc who only saves people because it's part of a job you never wanted and did not get to chose or you would've died, who took your co-workers' morals and ideals because you didn't have any and desperately wanted to fit in somewhere, be it with the heroes or the villains, who's activelly haunted by one the most tragic past to have been created and suffer from a psychosis so bad (dare I say schizophrenia) that even your enemies acknowledged that you are mentally ill and objectively flawed in your judgement, never hesitated to try to kill anyone and has the most egoistic reason to be a good person but the fandom still thinks you're just a kind crybaby "I don't know what a gun is" homosexual twink.

#him being refered as an angel by Shibuzawa is FUCKING IRONIC !!#ASAGIRI IS ALWAYS IRONIC WHEN IT COMES TO LIGHT NOVELS CENTERED AROUND ATSUSHI#Ex : The plot of 55min being parallele to the Decay of Angels arc#He's also called the Man-eating tiger and yes I do think that Dazai lied to him when he said he never ate anyone to preserve his psyche#and was also called “the man who can see the future” and has time travelled with Akutagawa like why aren't we talking about that#his relationship with Mori is also actually good#Mori is one if not the only character who saved and helped Atsushi during their first meeting and kept good contacts with him#because yes Atsushi has seen Mori knowing that he was the pm boss off-screen and they had a normal exchange#I also think that Shibuzawa Atsushi and Fyodor are connected to a form of Holy Trinity#Believer/God/Angel or Messenger#Joseph/Jesus/Mary#or Fyodor and Atsushi as Jesus and Judas#but the instance of trinity in bsd are dare I say extreme#Oda/Ango/Dazai#Sigma/Fyodor/Nikolai#Atsushi/Akutagawa/Kyoka#and so on#and the whole situation around his ability which is unlike any other#It turns him into Byakko (her own being) (similar to Natsume) and nullify his wounds no matter how lethal (similar to Dazai and Yosano)#and enhance him even with his ability off making him constantly stronger than other characters and dare I say equal to the hunting dogs#yk the MODIFIED humans#and the plot of both 55mins and Dead Apple being around abilities and giving us Atsushi lore make me think that Atsushi and Byakko are 1/2#probably a sort of higher being since some abilities are very religious centered (how Fyodor sees abilities and Shibuzawa) 2/2#but I think it would lend toward a “sinner” position which would be crazy because that Atsushi would then probably be the reason why Fyodor#hates abilities so much if Atsushi and Byakko are somehow be connected to the “sin” of abilities#and so you guys know Atsushi's orphanage was a church so yes he's related to christianity#and the Decay of Angels is LITTERALY full of religious people to different degrees#and it would be ironic (once again) if the antagonists were the “Angels” and the protagonist a demon#I just realized that I did a lot of typos sorry I got too excited#but yeah keep calling bsd bad written (we're on barely chap.115 no good manga was finished by chap.115 guys just wait for the rest to drop)

don't ask me why, but me and my friend were talking about how carlos is going to be free from fraudrrari in less than 20 days and we ended up comparing him to the virgin mary (i swear it will make sense and we both grew up in christian italian families as atheists) and... how her given festivities actually add up with some of his important dates ??? buckle up!
‧˚
⭒ "Festa dell'Assunzione di Maria" — august 15 she was raised to eternal life without bodily death, and very close to it carlos announced he signed with williams.
⭒ "La Natività della Beata Vergine Maria" — she was born on september 8th, he was born on september 1st (BOTH VIRGOS)!
⭒ "L'Immacolata Concezione" — december 8th, "from the first moment of her conception, the Blessed Virgin Mary was, by the singular grace and privilege of Almighty God, and in view of the merits of Jesus Christ, Savior of Mankind, kept free from all stain of original sin."... and what happens on december 8th? his last race in fraudrrari, exactly.

she was the lightly brushed by melancholy blue print after all!

from God’s Daughters: Evangelical Women and the Power of Submission by R. Marie Griffith (1997)
evangelical subculture was less a bulwark against than a variant of the therapeutic culture.
As evangelicals gradually ceased denouncing psychology outright, they shifted the battle lines, accepting the psychologists’ diagnosis of modern dilemmas while asserting that the cure for emotional sickness was religious faith rather than secular therapies. Popular evangelical writers increasingly began to discuss problems in terms of “anxiety” and “inferiority complexes” and advisedreaders on heightening “self-esteem” and fulfilling emotional “needs,” however, and the boundary between religious and secular prescriptions steadily blurred. Religious writers quoted enthusiastically from psychotherapists and other “positive thinkers” such as Dale Carnegie and Joshua Loth Liebman.
Continuing to denounce liberal Protestants for accommodating and selling out to “secular humanism,” evangelical authors devised an updated theology of their own, in which sin was often reconceptualized as sickness and concerns over salvation were replaced by concerns for earthly happiness, comfort, and health. Those who packaged their message most successfully, such as the well-known Christian pediatrician and psychologist James Dobson, tended to address a largely female audience and directed their concerns to marriage and family life, sex, and depression.
The historian Donald Meyer, whose 1965 study of “religion as pop psychology” was published just prior to The Triumph of the Therapeutic, shared Rieff’s argument and gave it a historical frame of reference, looking back to Mary Baker Eddy and the theology of mind cure for precedents of current therapeutic religion. Having failed to recognize evangelicals as participants in the phenomenon he described, fifteen years later Meyer added a chapter attributing the recent upsurge of conservative evangelicalism to that group’s appropriation of positive thinking and practices of healing therapy.
Tracing the career of Oral Roberts, who ceased his tent meeting healing services in favor of building a colossal modern hospital, Meyer noted the urge among evangelicals to make healing “obtainable as a predictable and rational expectation.” Not only in the Christian counseling centers and medical centers but also in the charismatics’ and other evangelicals’ continuing emphasis on divine healing, the mixing of the therapeutic with popular religion became highly visible. It seemed irrefutable that a deep cultural shift “from salvation to self-realization” had taken place; as two historians independently noted not long after Meyer’s postscript.

My problem in trying to engage meaningfully with Christianity as person who grew up in a religion where joy and mirth are primary forms of worship is that Christians take themselves so damn seriously.
There's some funny shit in the Bible, but they treat their holy texts with such an intolerable reverence, it's exhausting. I have never read my own holy texts (the Eddas) without laughing and I do not read the Bible without laughing because the gods are funny, and entertaining, and they help us experience joy in the same way that they help us experience every other emotion, but if I said that to most Christians - if I told them I found the Bible to be funny - they would take it as an insult.
It's so difficult because I find Christianity very interesting, and I even think Yahweh is a god worth worshipping in some capacity (not in the monotheistic way that Christians do, but like, as a sort of god of community and day to day life he's really a pretty helpful guy to include in your personal pantheon) but I do not worship in a Christian way and that makes it so hard to really engage meaningfully with Christian belief.

I think it's hilarious that I give off Catholic vibes, specifically Catholic mom vibes (thank you @starsaroundsaturn for pointing this distinction out to me) And I think it's hilarious that every website seems to agree and gives me a ton of catholic things despite the fact that I'm protestant. I'm literally Baptist y'all.

Random thought but why do people feel the need to push their religion on to other people? Especially Muslims and Christians (This is coming from a Muslim with Christian family and friends before anyone gets upset)
Both religions encourage its respective followers to preach and spread the message but can we be serious for a second and not try to spread the word of God in every random situation?
Yesterday, I was at a team-building programme and the woman who was supposed to be teaching and mentoring us kept speaking about Jesus, her saviour. Now, I was the ONLY Muslim there and very much visibly Muslim considering I was wearing a thobe and hijab and it's like she didn't even stop to consider how I would feel about her essentially preaching that her religion is correct by saying that when Jesus comes down she'll be on the correct side of life.
Jesus in Islam and Jesus in Christianity are two VERY different people and regardless of which religion you deem to be the truth, can we please read the room and stop trying to convert people?
I was NOT interested in becoming Christian, I was NOT in the mood to listen to her talk about how she found God, I WAS interested in learning about team-building but that all disappeared when she couldn't go 5 minutes without giving a sermon.
Learn to read the room and respect the people in that room. Muslims shouldn't be preached at when they're trying to learn something irrelevant to religion and the same goes for Christians.

Don Bosco's Prayer to Mary
Author: St. John Bosco
Most Holy Virgin Mary, Help of Christians,
how sweet it is to come to your feet
imploring your perpetual help.
If earthly mothers cease not to remember their children,
how can you, the most loving of all mothers forget me?
Grant then to me, I implore you,
your perpetual help in all my necessities,
in every sorrow, and especially in all my temptations.
I ask for your unceasing help for all who are now suffering.
Help the weak, cure the sick, convert sinners.
Grant through your intercessions many vocations to the religious life.
Obtain for us, O Mary, Help of Christians,
that having invoked you on earth we may love and eternally thank you in heaven.
