ooh, uther does something very interesting here. the execution committed is apparently on the 20th anniversary of the capture of the great dragon / around the time the great purge “ended” (though ofc it never really ended.) in his speech, he remarks how they ridded the kingdom of sorcery with the help of the people—and while the rhetoric may seem grateful and celebratory, there’s something underneath that, too, something says, you are all complicit, you wanted this, too. and then he declares a feast in celebration as a reminder: “sorcerers get executed=i will reward the kingdom.” (making morgana’s refusal to attend all the more significant.)

but mary collins interjects with her grief and swears she will get vengeance, because, of course, the oppressed class, those left behind in the wake of suffering, will not be so easily swayed by bread and circuses.

I like that Eve Myles played it very straight, not comical, not over the top. I also just like the fact that she cast spells via singing. There should be more villains like this.

Until my nth rewatch yesterday, I never noticed that Mr Collins could have had a Ms Bennet as his future wife:

Mary.

There are at least two scenes where you can see her pining after him and defending his demeanour to Lizzy. But since even Mrs Bennet, with her rampant urge to marry all of her daughters off, does not notice Mary, really, her attraction flew right under everyone's radar.

Though can you imagine what that meant? Mr Collins actually a brother-/son-in-law to the Bennets? Mary and Mr Collins sermonizing to each other without the other really listening?

I just think that we're missing out on some excellent comedic potential here.
