Ever see those posts about women having massive babies because their husbands are huge like Hawaiin/secretly Shaquille o neal?. No? Am I the only one who gets all the baby content despite being child free???

ANYWAY I feel like no one talks about the potential of any bio kid of Bruce being massive. Like yeah Bruce is normal sized and so is Damian/Helena/Terry but like what if they weren't? Thomas Wayne was a big dude and he wasn't even a fighter!

Part 3 - Thoughts/Theories

“Roy” is not mentioned anywhere that I’m aware of (though a “Roy” is mentioned in Mary’s letters, but I think this is someone else?). I did wonder, even though we know “Orpheus” is apparently involved in game 0, if Roy could be 0-1-0 if it isn’t “Orpheus”. Helena’s 3rd letter, as most experiment letters, should be written by Orpheus as a record of his “experiments”, so it’d be odd if he’s talking about himself as 0-1-0. We know from Helena’s letter that No. 0-1-0 had "multiple tests" done on them before “interventions in stages” on Helena, as well as 0-1-0 is someone Helena considered an "ally".

I’m confused about it saying Philip “mistook” Belinda as Christina. Nowhere in his letters or deductions does he say the name, though it does in his relations page. Her name was first revealed in a Q&A, where they said Philip “forgot the name of the woman on his shoulder, he only knows that she is his sister”. Well, based on his 2nd letter, he does call her “Belinda”, unless he’d already forgotten and this was what he thought her name was. I assume that body is still “Christina” but he just forgot what her real name was, which… is really saying something about Philip if he doesn’t even remember his sibling’s name. I doubt that the body wasn’t actually Christina’s but instead someone else with the name “Belinda”, but this definitely leaves me more uncertain than I’d like. Or another possibility is the figure on his shoulder is just a wax creation (not actually his sister’s body) and his sister’s been gone long enough (and he’s traumatized enough) where he either repressed the memories of his sister or has forgotten, with the wax figure on his shoulder his constant reminder of simply the fact his sister was taken from him and he needs to avenge her. And due to his forgetting, he’s named the wax figure on his shoulder “Belinda”.

I’m assuming Keigan killed Dr. Mesmer sometime after her discussion with Bessie, her niece and had married to her brother Harold Nicholas Keogh. We learn Bessie was unsatisfied with the marriage, and he wasn’t even accompanying her to the doctor despite her pregnancy. Keigan learns due to Bessie that Harold has a substantially larger than normal savings account than he should have based on his monthly income. We further learn Harold was involved with Dr. Mesmer, who had paid Harold for helping “resolve baseless accusations” against him. Based on what we know of Keigan from her backstory, deductions, and trailer, it isn’t unreasonable to say she decided to deal with Dr. Mesmer similar to how she dealt with her brother due to the threat they posed to Bessie.

Antonio’s game has 5 people mentioned in the letters, but the relations page only shows 4. We know that 3-0-1 is Andrew and Antonio is 3-1-3. We know Antonio felt “affecton” for Polun, and Antonio’s 3rd letter mentions he showed “affability” to 3-?-2 and 3-1-5. We know from Polun’s letter that he was likely affected by drugs during their “feast” based on the mention of feeling “dizzy”, and Antonio’s 3rd letter mentions 3-?-2 felt the effects of the drugged wine (and Polun’s 2nd letter does mention wine). Therefore, Polun is likely 3-?-2. As for Sangria, we know he felt “vigilant” towards her.

As for 3-1-4 and 3-1-5:

we know 3-1-4 was:  “consistently polite” to Andrew, had a “shared attitude towards faith” with Andrew, had “superior communication and expressive abilities” but their past experiences hindered their ability to establish meaningful connections with others and were too “absorbed in their pursuit of friendship and salvation” causing a lack of awareness of their surroundings and made them be manipulated by 3-1-5 and utilized his familiarity with the mansion to start an arson under the stage and cause 3-1-4’s demise. Also, 3-1-4 was effected by the drugs with polun

while 3-1-5 was “adept at disguising their true intentions”, “skilled at sensing others’ emotions” which he used to form a “temporary alliance” with Andrew, “subtle manipulations” of 3-1-4, had hostile feelings towards Andrew, and “spun lies” praising Andrew’s work (façade via acting) and determined Andrew’s “fate” in the “temple”. Also, 3-1-5 was affable with Antonio

My best guess is 3-1-4 may be Sangria, who we know was “buried” by Andrew as well as Sangria is someone tied to a “stage” and “fire”. She would also fit as someone who would be “polite” and good at “communication” and interest in “faith” and “salvation. This would leave 3-1-5. Considering this game has a lot to do with “acting skills” and performance, I wonder if 3-1-5 could be the Goatman, Jeffrey (and with his connection to animals, I could see him being good at sensing others’ emotions and due to the performances he had to put on potentially good at hiding his “true intentions”).

Max “invited” Polun. I assume this was likely after they left St. Catherine’s theater. We have no knowledge of whether Polun spent any time at Max’s freakshow, but as they seemed focused on finding their parents and the wording of “invited”, I assume they declined the invitation.

I have no idea how Emma was helped by Orpheus. We still haven’t figured out the truth behind Emma’s 4th letter, which seems to happen after her game (with Freddy, Kreacher, and Emily). Her “new friends” are aware of their memories being tampered with and warn her to secretly keep a record of everything. It’s possible Orpheus “helped” her to reunite with Leo via that invitation with the Thistle. Or it’s possible he did something during her actual game. We aren’t sure.

Regarding Game 5, we seem to have confirmed the only 2 that were “sacrificed” were Edgar and Vera. We know Kevin drank the drug and as a result didn’t participate in the game at all. Jose, based on Wu Chang’s 3rd letter and the latter half of Jose’s 3rd letter did seem to participate in the game (especially with Jose’s letter implying the manor owner “treasured” the opportunity to use Jose in his experiment and thus wouldn’t want to miss out, thus why he was willing to stop the experiment if it looked like Jose wouldn’t make it). We have no knowledge then of Jose’s or Patricia’s fates. Jose mentions finding the umbrella in the garden, where it still is during the final game. This is seemingly after the game and Vera and Edgar, who he references in his 4th letter, are already gone and he seems to be getting ready to leave. Patricia’s 4th letter doesn’t leave us with any potential hints as to what happened, though the way Jose seems to have made it through the game, yet only mentions Edgar and Vera, I wonder if something happened to her during the game, potentially something caused by Wu Chang if Jose was influenced by him.

Sam being "drinking buddies" with Jose... The only place Sam is referenced is in Jose’s 2nd letter in reference to the signature on his father’s ledger of goods the day Joaquin Baden vanished. We know Jose was drank both to help him sleep (due to his trouble with panic attacks/night terrors) and other times that led to him “missing the tide” and not boarding the ship. We know from his background in the relations page that he was delayed at Liverpool the day his father vanished. It may not be true, but what if he was drinking with Sam that day in Liverpool, or something else with Sam? Especially if Sam signed off on the ledger of goods for that voyage. It’s also curious how it specifically states Jose was in Liverpool that day. If he was just drinking normally, they didn’t have to specify. He could just drink anywhere, but it gives a specific location. So there’s a good chance there’s a reason for it, and as Sam is tied to Joaquin’s disappearance, it's possible Sam could’ve been with Jose that day too. Maybe Sam was even the person Jose’s father asked in Jose’s deduction 8 to help fix Jose essentially, even if it meant Jose wouldn’t “remember how to be a good man”. I don’t know if Sam would’ve been the person to leave that “spiritual anchor” via deep hypnosis referenced in Jose’s 3rd letter, but we don’t know nearly enough about Sam to be completely certain.

It makes sense for Grace and Yidhra to appear in the game with the supernatural theme and taking place at Lakeside. So far, we know Fiona is 6-1-3, Luchino is 6-1-4, and Hastur aka Arthur Byers is likely 6-0-5. This leaves 6-1-1, 6-1-2, and 6-1-6. The only info we have is 6-1-2 lost their life in an “unfortunate accident” and was replaced by 6-1-6, as well as Luchino was the only one not to vanish after the game. So, there’s not enough info to argue that Grace and Yidhra aren’t possible. Though, as we know 6 individuals are involved in this experiment, that does mean there’s 1 other person we don’t know of in this game. My best guess at this time is that it could be Ithaqua. As for Luchino’s deceit against Fiona, I assume this ties to how her 3rd letter says she “missed a crucial piece of ‘divine insight’” to lose her chance to escape.

Regarding Martha “deceiving” Miles, we do know from Michiko’s 2nd letter that she supposedly was helping him find the “keepsake” of Michiko’s (likely the hatpin) he was looking for, and then in Michiko’s 3rd letter, he mentioned Martha should’ve arrived at the manor 3 days ago yet there has been no news of her. Miles does get the hatpin at the manor, so that leaves the question of how exactly she “deceived” him. It’s possible it had to do with he didn’t know who Martha actually was, or she potentially deceived him to lead him to the manor (possibly lying about the keepsake being auctioned off or something, I’m not sure).

I have 0 idea though how Demi is possibly connected to Miles, unless it’s because Miles may end up being in that game with her, Martha, Eli, and Luchino (though only 4 individuals are referenced in the letters for that game so far). We do know Miles is confirmed to be in some game due to Michiko’s 3rd letter, just not which one yet.

Demi “framing” Martha, I wonder if that could relate to why Luchino believed Martha was the “liar” that would cause the final “tragedy”. This is then what leads to a “tragedy” between her and Luchino, which could relate to Demi’s 3rd letter talking about not bothering to discern truth from lies (which is the issue with Martha in this game as she first lied than was truthful, leading to confusion about her) and instead decided to “destroy” truth and lies, aka Martha herself potentially. As for the scheming, it’s possible Martha schemed because of being “framed” by Demi, unless Martha was planning something before Demi “framed” her. There’s not enough info to be certain.

I have 0 idea how Sam may be connected to Melly. The 1 possibility is from Melly’s 3rd letter, which is an “investigation record”, yet it’s not written by Orpheus considering the author specifically references him (“From this, I learned she knew Mr. Orpheus for many years before coming to the manor and was full of praise toward him”). So the author is someone who knows Orpheus at least (as well as Norton based on the mention of him further in) and this person knows Melly came to Oletus Manor, so it’s potentially someone who could be at the manor during that time? Especially as they comment on Melly’s fear of Orpheus being even stronger than her fear of Norton. Which is curious as I wonder if that implies he’s somehow monitoring the Final Game.

“heheheh giggling over some Christmas at the Manor headcanons :3

One of the few times of the year that the Hunters and Survivors will all eat at the same table, even though there may still be games that day.

For the survivors: Emma, Martha, Evelyn, Emily, Lucky Guy, Kreacher, Orpheus, and Edgar DEVOTE themselves to decorating the manor beautifully with garlands, decorated trees, holly, tinsel, candles, and of course art if Edgar doesn't get artblock during the holiday prep fretting. Tracy helps, but she gets lights working and stuff, she's not really good at aesthetic design. Same for Luca, but he's also flitting around the house multitasking when he remembers all the things they have to do. Often, he starts something, forgets it, and then Victor finishes it quietly behind him. Florian WANTS to be part of the decor squad, buuuut he's only allowed to make sure the fireplaces are working properly.

Ada, Emil, Eli, Kurt, Demi, Murro, Mike and William are a cooking squad.

Vera, Aesop, Margie, Patricia, Fiona, and Jose get a lot of the manor cleaned up and making sure there's enough seats for everyone, etc etc. The hospitality squad, one might say. Aesop isn't particularly fond of it, but he likes it better than being in the kitchen or having to make decisions about decorating with which color or something. It's the quieter job to be sure.

Andrew, Melly, Ganji and Charles are the grounds squad. If there's anything that needs to be done in the gardens or out of doors, they're there. Emma likes helping them decorate outside too if possible.

Matthias, Anne, Norton, Naib, Helena, Servais, Qi, Lily, Florian and Richard are the filler squad. Naib, Norton and Qi mostly help the outdoor and cleaning crews, Anne, Richard and Matthias help the decor crew and hospitality crews. Helena is in charge of most of who goes where, aided by Lily and Servais. Florian flits about helping the decor and cooking crew for the most part.

Demi only helps with the decor crew to hang mistletoe over Ada and Emil's seats XD

Gift giving!!

Emma likes to memorize things to make/give that she knows they'll like. For her, Christmas shopping/crafting begins on January 1st.

Kreacher is surprisingly generous on Christmas. It's a special day that gets to him and he can't help but be an exception to his rule. That said, you miiiiight want to check where your gift is sourced from if it's from him.

Qi will make little dolls/plushies with Tracy and Violetta and makes things she silently observes anyone likes. She doesn't ask what people want for Christmas. She'll just make a sewn/crocheted version of something she finds out they like by being a good listener.

VALE is infamous for prank gifts. Luchino too.

Norton gives food. HOw? nobody knows. But if you are his friend, he will give you bread. Naib is similar, but might try to cook whatever he knows you like.

Melly gives honey things. Honey candies, sticks, jars, anything honey, but always with a personal touch directed toward the person she's giving to.

Tracy makes anything she thinks will help the others with her inventions...though it's not particularly personalized, and a bit more things she'd like to have that she gives, the thought is still there.

Demi just makes drinks for all. Alcoholic or mocktails, she makes both.

Lily LOVES making and giving handmade cards. And so does Victor.

today's excerpt from: my surv!Claude fanfic that still has no title X'D I'm open to suggestions. (I swear I will edit this more later but there's so much plot to get through I can't spend too much time on it rn I just grabbed chapter one atp I can't make decisions rn ;u;)

Chapter 1: Newcomer

“Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah That was so intense!!” Luca Balsa appeared in the corridor all the survivors returned from after a game. Norton Campbell, Andrew Kreiss, and Emily Dyer followed after him. Eli and Victor stood up from the dining table where they waited and waved.

“Welcome back!” Eli called with his typical warm smile.

“How’d it go?” Victor held up his writing pad. Norton flopped on one of the chairs and poured himself a glass of wine.

“We all got out safely,” Emily replied to Victor.

“A four-escape?” Eli grinned, “That’s pretty rare! Well done!” Kreiss muttered something and went off to sit in a corner.

“It was INTENSE!” Luca repeated himself as he got a glass of wine, “See, Andrew took first kite and I connected the ciphers. It was a 3 cipher kite but he used both his shovels. Emily was on the other side of the map decoding so I changed my connection to her cipher because Norton was going to rescue. Norton managed to magnet Luchino and save Kreiss before the chair twice! He got knocked down again and chaired as Emily finished my cipher. Norton took a slam hit from Luchino and got terror shocked at the chair but I got in and rescued! He hit me but Emily popped the last cipher and off we all went!! Emily went to work on one of the gates and Luchino went after Andrew again. Norton cancelled his jump with a magnet and Luchino swapped for Emily at the gate since he had detention. We were all running to the gate at that point and it was just about open, Norton pulled Luchino away with another magnet and Emily got the gate open. Kreiss was right behind me and Luchino tried to down him again but I got him with my shock!” He slapped his glass down enthusiastically.

“Sounds like a good match!” Eli remarked, “You all did very well!”

“I told Luca I should rescue and he should man the ciphers, but he insisted I was too far away.” Emily remarked. “But yes, it turned out well this time. Mr. Kriess is getting much better at kiting.”

“I was just lucky,” the sullen voice of Kriess came from his corner. “It’s pointless to learn how to kite I’m not any better at it.”

“If that’s what you like to think, Andrew.” Luca smirked and clapped him on the shoulder. He was far too pleased with himself to let Kriess’s constant moods get him down. Kriess scoffed and turned further into his corner.

“EMMA-CHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!”

 Kriess jumped and Eli smiled as the sound of Boy’s voice echoed down the halls long before they actually saw Emma, Boy or Tracy racing in.

“What are you doing?” Victor showed his pad to the hardly winded trio.

“Playing tag again nano!” Emma replied. “You’re it!” She tapped Victor on the shoulder and dashed away laughing. Victor paused for a bewildered moment, but started trotting after the others. Patricia and Aesop walked into the hall soon after, Naib close behind.

“Good evening!” Eli said, “What brings you all here?”

“We came expecting tomorrow’s invitation,” Patricia replied.

“I heard there was tea.” Naib responded. Eli poured each a cup of tea with a chuckle.

“Here you are. It’s very light.” Naib sat next to Norton and sipped on his tea. Patricia and Aesop also sat, but Aesop opted to just hold his cup when Patricia put hers on the table.

“Where are the others?” Patricia asked. “Usually Martha is here for the new invitation at least.”

“Hmmm…you’re right. I don’t see Kevin, Fiona, Helena, Freddy or Mr. Pierson either.” Luca said.

“I’m sure they’ll be around if they wish,” Eli replied. As if on cue, Kreacher Pierson ran in the room with a howl, Kevin and Freddy hot on his heels.

“OI OI S-s-stay away from me!!!” Kreacher stammered as he scampered into the hall.

“We’re taking this fight outside!” Kevin said. Kreacher flashed his flashlight around at Kevin. Freddy made some sort of verbal potshot at him, but between Kreacher’s hooting as he ran backwards with his light, Emma, Boy, Tracy and Victor still playing tag, and Kevin trying to get his attention, it was ignored and he decided to grab a glass of wine before trying again. Aesop shrank in his seat at the noise and Andrew would have retreated further had there been more corner.

“Oi! Pierson!” Luca called leaning back his chair, “You still haven’t let me study your flashlight!”

“AS I-I-IF I W-W-WOULD!” Kreacher shot back. Luca laughed. He’d pestered Pierson about his light to no avail almost since he’d arrived. Now he just did it to tick him off, though if the opportunity presented itself, he’d still take it apart to study.

“Maybe he could fix it!” Lawyer goaded, “Maybe you’d be less useless!”

“SHADDAP!”

“He really could stand to learn to kite longer,” Patricia said, the only person in the past minute to have used a normal volume to speak.

“I HEARD YOU!”

“GENTLEMEN! THAT’S ENOUGH!” Martha tromped into the room with her no-nonsense voice. Kevin immediately listened to her.

“If the lady wishes.” He said in a perfect inside voice.

“Yes ma’am!” Kreacher scampered off to the other side of the room and sat next to Riley, who remained sullenly seated with his glass, but snuck in a sneer at Kreacher, who pulled a face back. The game of tag could still be heard, but it had moved to the next room and was a bit fainter.

“What a rowdy bunch.” Norton complained. Naib shrugged and poured him another glass. Aesop slowly relaxed in the following return to quiet with a little sigh. Eli gave him a reassuring smile.

“Well…I suppose that invitation should be coming any time now, right?” He said, giving Bloudewedd a loving scritch on her neck feathers.

A knock at the door. Emily went to answer it.

“Ah, welcome!” She smiled and opened the door to allow the person in. He was young, dressed like nobility, he walked a bit stiffly, slowly and was deathly pale. He smiled and nodded at Emily, though there was clear uncertainty behind it.

“Welcome to the manor!” Eli greeted.

“Good evening,” the young man nodded again, keeping a death grip on the rail of the stairs. “Where…where am I?”

“This is Oletus Manor.” Emily replied.

“And from here on out, we shall be staying together,” Eli continued. “Kevin, would you please go find Tracy and the other three? I’m sure they’d like to meet the newcomer.” Kevin nodded and left to find the tag-players.

“New…comer?” The young man repeated.

“Yes! But why don’t we introduce ourselves first? Then we’ll have time to explain about the Manor.”

“What can be explained of it,” Andrew muttered grudgingly. Eli nodded to acknowledge his statement, then moved on.

“I am Eli. Eli Clark, a humble seer.” He gave a little bow and the young man politely nodded in return.

“Emily. Emily Dyer. I am a doctor and one of the ones who’s been here the longest. If you have questions, don’t hesitate to come ask,” Emily said in turn. Kevin returned with the others who were instantly around the newcomer.

“My name is Emma Woods nano! I’m the first to have arrived here! Let me know if you need anything explained!”

“Oh oh me next!!!” Boy-kun raised his hand, “My name is Lucky Guy! But, everyone calls me Boy!”

“I’m a mechanic! Tracy Reznik! If you need anything fixed, come to me!” Tracy sang out.

“Martha Behamfil,” Martha said briefly, “But you can call me Martha.”

“Norton. Norton Campbell.”

“Naib Subedar.”

“Kevin Ayuso! Always good to see a newcomer, even if you aren’t a lady.” The young man quirked a brow at that statement, but smiled regardless.

“Victor Grantz. A pleasure to meet you.”

“A pleasure as well, Victor.” He said.

“Luca. Luca Balsa. I’m an inventor.” Luca said in turn.

“My name is Aesop Carl. Embalmer.” Aesop immediately started paying more attention to his cold tea as if to find a way to drink it through his face mask.

“Patricia Dorval. If you need any magic, stop by.” Everyone turned to the dark corner. Andrew looked up.

“Why are you all staring at me?” He griped.

“Aren’t you going to tell him your name, Andrew?” Luca asked.

“You just did.”

“Not your last name, Mr. Kriess.” Luca grinned.

“Tch! Idiot.” He muttered something further under his breath, but no one could make it out.

“Oi Oi! Newcomer! M-m-m-my name is Kreacher Pierson! I’m your superior at this and don’t you forget it!”

“Pay him no mind!” Riley waved, “I’ll teach you everything you need to know! I’ve been doing it longer and better than he has!”

“NOT TRUE!” Kevin objected.

“GENTLEMEN!” Martha said, an edge in her voice.

“DON’T SHUSH ME!”

“In all honesty don’t listen to either of them,” Patricia said, “I had to un-learn a lot of what Riley told me as it was actually terrible strategy.” The two continued to bicker, but Eli tried to talk over Riley whose roasts and advice had devolved into hissing about everyone ignoring him.

“Well, I think that’s about everyone here,” Eli said, “Now, what’s your name?”

The young man put his hand on his temple for a moment, but shook it off.

“My name is Claude. A pleasure to meet you a-“ His sentence was abruptly cut off by a coughing fit that sent him to his knees, still holding the railing.

“Emily!” Eli called. He didn’t have to. She was instantly by Claude’s side. Claude’s hand shook as he removed it from his mouth.

“I’ll…be alright.” He panted, catching his breath after the fit. “I…just need to rest…for a while.” Emily nodded.

“I’ll show you to your room.” She helped him up and carefully walked him down the stairs and out of the dining room, Claude softly apologizing the entire way. The room was filled with an uncomfortable quiet. Somber, awkward quiet nobody felt like they could break without making it worse.

“I hope he’s okay.” Tracy ventured.

“Emily can get him better! No worries nano!” Emma reassured confidently. “Every time we’ve gotten sick she’s helped us. I’m sure it’ll be no problem!” Eli nodded.

“Still…” It was Martha this time, “If he is to play in the games with us…he seems rather frail, doesn’t he?”

“The games! We never got to explain them to him.” Eli realized. “Perhaps after he’s rested we can.”

“I’ll go visit him later!” Boy-kun volunteered.

“I’ll come too.” Naib raised a hand.

“Aesop, you should come too,” Eli suggested.

“I…I don’t think so. Thanks.” Aesop almost flinched at the idea.

“It won’t be too loud. And you can leave if you’re overwhelmed. But I think our newcomer might enjoy your company, if I’m honest. You two strike me as getting along.” Eli said.

“Maybe…” Was all Aesop would say.

“I’m so sorry to trouble you like this, Ms. Dyer.” Claude said for what must have been the tenth time as she opened the door to his room. There was a fair-sized bed, a writing desk by a window, a wardrobe, vanity and a chest. It was a well-kept room, though a little bare.

“Don’t worry about it. Here we go. I’ll take your coat and scarf. Shoes too.” Claude listened to her and removed his coat before laying on the bed under the covers and adjusting the pillows to how he was accustomed to using them. He shut his eyes for just a second, and reopened them to Emily bustling in his room. Hanging his coat and scarf up, putting his shoes by the door, and straightening his sheets.

“Are you comfortable?” She asked. When Claude nodded she asked further. “Is there anything I can do?” Claude hesitated.

“Could you please tell me more about what’s going on here? I didn’t really understand all the others were saying.” It was Emily’s turn to hesitate.

“We’ll explain the game to you once you’ve rested. It might be a lot to take in for the time being.”

“Oh. I see.” He started coughing again. Emily’s expression remained calm, as his turned ever more pink and apologetic.

“There’s no need to be sorry. You can’t help it. Did you catch cold while you were on your way, perhaps? It is raining out.” Claude shook his head.

“No, no. I’m afraid I simply have weak lungs. It was probably overexertion. I walked a long way.” Emily nodded again.

“Alright. I’ll let you rest then. Don’t hesitate to ask for anything.”

“Thank you.” Claude sighed and shut his eyes, he heard the door close when Emily left and dropped off to sleep, too exhausted to even think about the new information.

“Is he alright?” Victor asked when Emily returned. A few of the others had wandered off, but most of them were still loitering in the dining room Emily put her hand by her chin.

“I think he will be. For now at least. I didn’t ask to fully examine him.”

“Is he sick?” Tracy queried.

“He said he has weak lungs. I don’t know what that’ll mean for him when he plays in the games. We all have to run. Granted, he said it’s been a long day so perhaps I am underestimating him.”

“Speaking of the games, the invitation’s arrived.” Eli said.

“Oh? Who is it?” Emily inquired. Eli opened the invitation.

“Tracy, Victor, Naib…and Claude.” Eli read it out loud. “And the hunter is…The Ripper.”

“So soon?!” Patricia exclaimed, “Newcomers often get a few days to adjust, don’t they?”

“Ripper is hard to kite against for most newcomers.” Emma commented. “It’s still hard for even me to keep track of his foggy blades sometimes when he throws them over walls.”

“And I’m afraid that leaves Claude little time to recover his strength,” Emily worried.

“And little time for us to explain.” Naib said.

“Well, we’ll explain what we can and hope for the best tomorrow.” Eli said with a nod in the hopes of reassuring the others. In the silence that followed, no one really seemed to take comfort in the prospect.

“You seem thoughtful,” Patricia commented, gesturing to Aesop, “What’s on your mind?” Aesop’s gaze flickered between Patricia and his feet as his shoulders went a bit stiff again.

“It’s nothing. Just he looks…familiar.” Aesop replied, the visible half of his face creased in confusion.

“Familiar?” Eli asked. Aesop barely nodded.

“I didn’t pay much attention to the living around me before I came here…the only faces I would probably recognize are my mentor and someone I embalmed.” He gripped the edge of his shirt and tugged it.

“You mean…?” Tracy started.

“He might be someone who died?” Luca finished for her. “Fascinating!”

“I-I I’m not certain!” Aesop backtracked quickly, “It’s just a strange feeling to recognize someone.”

“It isn’t unheard of,” Eli said, “After all, Mary died before she came here.”

“For hunters, yes.” Martha replied. “But never any of us.”

“I can tell you he’s certainly not dead,” Emily said, “He has a heartbeat. While I walked him down the hall I could feel a pulse in his wrist as well. Whatever the reason, it’s nothing of that sort.”

“We’ll ask him more about himself tomorrow!” Luca piped up. “It could be he’s related to someone Aesop embalmed. We’ll solve that problem later. We just need more information.”
