Canonically speaking, jc' reaction to someone he doesn't like/has strong negative feelings towards, because that person was a jerk to his sister, is to regulate his emotions according to how his sister feels. In a jyl lives au, after wwx's return, canon jc is going to his sister, saying something like: 'while I think we should throw at least a cup of tea at him because he left us you and a-ling like that, it's your choice, jin zixuan was your husband. What are we feeling now, jiejie?'

mxtx's track record with shixiong-shidi relationships is hilariously negative now that i think about it. just a festival of one-sided overzealous violent shidi, and their agitated shixiongs who with each successive book series increasingly go "holy shit what is wrong with you?? leave me alone!!"

Hair unbound and eyes flickering with Zidian’s energy, she looks like a wrathful goddess of lightning. Even where he’s forced to kneel, Lan Wangji can feel the electricity thrumming through his wrecked meridians, thinned to the point of snapping. Sandu’s naked blade gleams wickedly in one hand. And in the other, she carries their son.

So i was reading a wangxian fic last night, and it started out great: wwx ran away from yunmengjiang and ended up in the cloud recesses and met lwj and they became friends. I got super excited cuz it was very promising, but then a couple chapters in jc appears and then they do the whole “oh no wwx and jc love each other, they are best bros, wwx left because he didn’t want to cause his siblings pain by them having to be associated with him, jc begs his beloved brother to come back because he will always have a home in lotus pier, etc” and I immediately wanted to throw the whole fic away, but i guess im a masochist (and honestly it’s so freaking hard to find a good wx fic that doesn’t somehow involve the homophobic grape) and kept reading.

That was a mistake, long story short the whole thing ended with both wwx and lwj being best of friends with jc, lsz loving his grape uncle who’s the best and just so amazing and them all living happily ever after. Im so disappointed in myself for reading that crap 😩

Wish I could find that post someone wrote about how in mdzs fics, when Jiang Cheng shows up, the plot and all characters warp to accommodate him. No matter how in-character everything and everyone is, once Jiang Cheng enters the scene, it becomes the most ridiculous fanon mess that breaks even the logic of the story that the fic writer, themself, set up. Op was so real for that.

fem jc! is pregnant when she’s captured by the wens, but it’s early on and wwx doesn’t know. and she miscarries during her torture becoming another thing that makes her miserable that she intends to keep from wwx so he won’t be hurt or pity her or stay with her out of obligation. maybe jc can’t get pregnant anymore and that was their only possible baby

wwx stays by her bedside wracked with worry and guilt, falls asleep crouched next to jc and holding her hand. core transfer doesn’t happen, they get married instead (wwx attempt at protecting his shimei) but ofc they don’t communicate and wwx thinks jc isn’t interested anymore, and jc thinks wwx pities her

so wwx takes revenge for his darling wife, and brings her wen chao’s and wen zhuliu’s heads

HIS DARLING WIIFFEEE STOP IT. wei wuxian doing the cat thing and bringing jiang cheng sweet little dead things as a symbol of devotion...THAT'S romance <3

jiang cheng with no core and no baby :( she must have agonized over how to tell him, how he’d react. must have let herself dream just once of a sunlit future where he's thrilled and he wants her and the baby and they stay together forever. and then the worst thing in the world happens and lotus pier burns and her parents are murdered and her core and baby are stolen from her. all possible futures gone, just like that. so maybe it's a good thing, in the end, that she kept her mouth shut, if it was just going to end like this. she'll never know how wei wuxian would have felt about the baby and wei wuxian never has to know what he lost. this, too, is a sacrifice.

trying to plot out a xichen/huaisang emma au solely for the purposes of slotting jin guangyao and nie mingjue into the already married siblings role. in theory this leaves us with no one to play emma's dad but no they're both emma's dad for maximum impact. and obviously jin guangyao is also the nanny. and it ends with huaisang vowing to be worse, actually.

while I enjoy an AU where sect cultivators stood by wwx in his defiance against the cultivation world or supported the wen remnants with him, they can't hit like canon does bc they always feel a little...hm. like if the author is super invested and insists THIS is what should have/would have happened its like they're missing the point of all the characters and their arcs?
