Nothing Lasts Forever: a Good Omens sonnet
A post-S2 meditation on narrative arcs, astronomy, and love — but make it a sonnet. (Written for a poetry game in the Good Omens After Dark Writers Guild. Prompt: “Starmaker”)
Read on AO3, with end notes of an informative nature (Rating: General Audiences)
Your stars turn always, and their quiet heart
Turns too. In time, things always fall apart;
No compass-foot, no ever-fixĂšd mark,
Can hold. True North moves in a stately arc
Through years: the equinoxes must precess.
Old stars must die, and new ones coalesce.
The pole-star moves, and every point of light
Must also dance through ever-changing night.
So you and I must dance, must turn, must part,
Must weep a while. Courage, now, sweetheart:
Our love transforms, and triumphs, and transcends,
And Hell and Heaven will be brought to end.
All things shall pass. Your stars shall ever move,
And we shall ever change, and ever love.
(Apologies to: W.B. Yeats, John Donne, William Shakespeare, Dorothy Sayers, Hipparchus, and Edmund Halley)

THE VARA OF MESSINA - PART TWO: THE TEAR. – Once the tankers that have wet the road to facilitate the sliding of the Vara have passed, the carabinieri clear the road to avoid accidents. At the signal of the flag-wavers indicating that the ropes are aligned and at the sound of the whistles giving the green light to pull them, the devotees placed at the head of the large ropes begin to move slowly, gradually increasing their speed so that soon all the devotees are pulling while running. In the middle of the two ropes, there are the helmsmen dressed in yellow, the flag-wavers and the men of the Red Cross to intervene in case of illness. The sultry heat, the effort in pulling and running soon mark the devotees who run with an outstretched arm on the shoulder of the person in front of them to push them in case they are in difficulty and to protect themselves from a possible sudden stop that would lead to them being overwhelmed by those following them. The women run among the men, the sons next to the fathers, the old supported by the young, the reserves walk sideways ready to intervene in case of inconveniences as there have often been, from 1500 to today. The devotees are dressed in white or blue, colors of Mary and almost all have on their heads a white and blue rope to define their status as shooters. When the whistles say to stop many of the devotees are distraught and collapse on each other happy to have shot for another hundred meters.

Massacre of Marzabotto
Today marks the 80th anniversary since the start of the massacre of Monte Sole (or more commonly, of Marzabotto): from September 29th to October 5th the nazis killed 770 civilians (among which also children, women and elders) in the area of Marzabotto, Grinzana Morandi and Monzuno (Bologna). This has been the most brutal and biggest massacre against civilians in the whole Western Europe during WWII. It happened in the autumn of 1944 when the Allies where reaching the Northern Italy and trying to break the Linea Gotica (where the nazis were defending "their lands") on the Appennino between Toscana and Emilia Romagna. According to history, it was a planned massacre made of shootings, houses burned down, children thrown in the fire (the youngest was just a 14 days old child), decapitated elders, women raped and killed.
Here you have a video too but you need to create a free account and have an Italian vpn to watch
