Do you think Law's fight is going to be just as dramatic like Kid?

He already got one in Dressrosa though 😭 drama doesn't want to leave him alone smh

It's difficult to make predictions about Law before we get to know who rescued him... I think Law's story will focus more on lore revelations than fights. There doesn't seem to be any set up for Law vs Blackbeard rematch, and I don't think his crews are dead.

I'd love to see Law and Doffy working together in the Mariegeoise raid team but that's probably a wishful thinking. I just hope he doesn't end up dying.

This reminds me of the farcical high-tech appearance of Mariegeoise that is actually slave-operated in One Piece, and I wonder if this is not exactly what Oda is getting at with it.

every so often im struck by the memory of one of my college professors getting very angry with our class (art history of pompeii 250) because when she excitedly detailed the ingenious roman invention of heated floors in bathhouses via hearths in small crawlspaces, we asked who was tending the fires. she said "oh, slaves i suppose. but that isnt the point". and we said that it actually very much was the point. she had just told us that in roman society there were dozens of people, maybe hundreds, who spent every day of their enslaved lives crawling in cramped, hot, smoky tunnels to light fires to warm pools of water (which they were not allowed to swim in). how could that not be the point?

she wanted us to focus on the art, on the innovation of heated plumbing, on the tiles and decorations of the bathhouses, and all we wanted to do was learn more about the people under the floors. and she didn't know anything more about that. in fact, she said she thought we were focusing too much on superfluous details.

it feels almost hokey to put too fine a point on the idea im getting at here but i will anyway: There are a lot of people who are still under the floors. all these beautiful, convenient, brilliant innovations of modern society (think fast fashion, chatgpt, uber, doordash) are still powered by people working in inhumane, untenable conditions.

the people who run these systems want you to focus on the good - who doesnt love warm water? - but if anything is going to improve or change in our lifetimes, you need to examine these things with an attentive, critical, and empathetic eye. and for fucks sake stop ordering from amazon

Fluff Alphabet (Smoker, Crocodile, Katakuri) (R, T, U)

Smoker

R = Romance - How romantic are they? What would they do to make their s/o happy? Cliché or rather creative?

- Smoker, unfortunately, lacks in the romantic department. he’s really new to romance in general and is honestly just too flustered by the overly cutesy things! that’s not to say he doesn’t try, it just doesn’t come naturally to him, so he can be a bit awkward when he tries to be romantic with his partner (but it’s still sweet)

- to make his partner happy, his biggest effort goes into not bringing work home with him. at home, he tries his hardest to put his attention on them, especially after duties where he’s been away from home for a while. he’ll relax with them, ask them all about their day, help with/cook them dinner, and just unwind with them. he’s found himself to be less stressed and more loving due to this!

- something romance-y he does is he always brings a lil trinket of sorts that reminds him of his s/o when he returns from his missions! they’re just little keepsakes that shows he thinks about them while he’s away. some are mailed when he’s not able to return as soon as he anticipated, and sometimes his s/o will find a sweet letter or a picture of him (encouraged by Tashigi of course) attached.

T = Thrill - Do they need to try out new things to spice out your relationship? Or do they prefer a certain routine?

- Smoker is all about routine. since work can be so sporadic and hectic by itself, he much prefers and finds comfort in normalcy in his domestic life. work is thrilling enough, he doesn’t need romantic getaways or other thrilling activities to feel that spark in his relationship. coming home to his loving partner after a long day’s work is enough to get those butterflies fluttering in his tummy. he looks forward to it every single day!

- of course, he doesn’t ever leave his partner bored. when he’s available, he’ll take the time to take them out and go do things with them. some of his favorite things to do with his partner is go on hikes or go fishing! anything outdoorsy really, activities that give him a chance to escape for a bit with his partner. 

- other than this, Smoker appreciates knowing what to expect in his relationship! morning coffee and cuddles, quick kisses before he goes to work, a nice long shower when he gets home, drinking and unwinding with his lover, all the basic domestic things. mundane routines might bore some, but honestly it’s all Smoker could ever ask for.

U = Understanding - How good do they know their partner? Are they empathetic?

- Smoker can’t really pick up on hints to save his life, so it’s much more helpful if his partner is upfront about their feelings. otherwise, he’ll assume everything is totally okay with them. 

- when listening to his partner, he tries his best to be understanding but he almost always approaches it very logically. he’s not very empathetic, he thinks there’s a logical reason and logical solution to every thing. his empathy gets a bit better as the relationship continues on, but he’s still not very emotionally-driven when trying to console his s/o

- as for generally understanding his partner, Smoker knows enough! his downfall is that he just forgets the small things sometimes. like he continuously confuses which flower is their favorite, but he still buys them flowers regardless. he honestly tries his best, he just needs some reminders every now and then!

Crocodile

- Crocodile can be super romantic when he wants to be. he has all the money (and sometimes time) to spoil his s/o, so he’s known to take them out to fancy dinners, buying them outfits for said dinners, and treating them to some romantic strolls around the town. all cliche activities, but he still manages to make them super romantic!

- anything his partner asks for, he’s more than willing to get it for them. and with his power and status, it’s hardly ever difficult to get them those things! gift-giving and spoiling is definitely his form of romance, since he’s not typically verbally romantic. aside from material things, much like Smoker, he tries his best to make the time he spends with them extra meaningful, since work tends to keep him away. so, he gives them his undivided attention and pampers them with extra love when he finally gets to be alone with them.

- something also cliche and romantic he likes to do is just dance with his s/o around their home! it’s always spontaneous, like when they’re cooking dinner or getting dressed to go out, he’ll pull them into him and waltz around the room. if he’s able to, he’ll turn on some music, if not he’ll just hum it. Crocodile’s a pretty snazzy dancer!

T = Thrill - Do they need to try out new things to spice out your relationship? Or do they prefer a certain routine?

- thrill comes in waves. there are some days where he’s too swamped with work to really be in the mood for anything exciting. but, he usually makes up for this when he finally gets the time to spend with his partner. he’s all for vacationing, taking his partner to new and exciting places, spoiling them with fine foods and memorable experiences, all the like. he understands that it’s nice to get away for a while. because he rarely gets the time to spoil his s/o, he tries to go all out when he can. 

- on long weeks when Crocodile is steadily working, there are definitely some routines setting into place. early morning breakfasts, reading the newspaper together, quick dinners, a glass or two of wine, reading before bed, him falling fast asleep before them, etc. it can’t really be helped due to his schedule.

- he’s not unhappy with the routine they’ve developed, but he knows his partner likes to get out every now and then. and he’s convinced it’s good for his mental state as well. so adding some excitement in the relationship when possible is a win-win for both! he mostly just likes to see them pleased so he’ll do almost just whatever it takes to keep them that way.

U = Understanding - How good do they know their partner? Are they empathetic?

- Crocodile is not a mind reader, so don’t try to treat him as such. he’s generally able to tell when his partner is acting a little unusual, but other than that, he much prefers his partner to tell him what’s wrong. only then can he help them get through it.

- he’s not very empathetic and he’s not very good at emotional help. Crocodile has his own way of handling things and has found himself expecting them to do the same. when this doesn’t work, he budges a little. he’s not always the best at giving advice, but he’s learned to be a great listener! he’s also great at offering distractions to help his lover not dwell on what is upsetting them.

- Crocodile has their favorite things down to a T, it never fails. he loves giving them gifts after all, so once they told him all their favorite things, he made sure to take note and proceeded to buy excess amounts of all of them. he has all anniversaries and their birthday marked on his calendars, otherwise he knows he’d forget.

Katakuri

R = Romance - How romantic are they? What would they do to make their s/o happy? Cliché or rather creative?

- Kata is another shy man when it comes to romance. he wants to be so much more romantic than what he is, he just gets too flustered by it all! he hasn’t had a lot of luck with love and relationships, so he’s a bit new to it all. he also doesn’t want to screw anything up, so he tries to stick to things he’s familiar with.

- lots of nice, private dinners. food is his family’s specialty, so there are lots of dinner dates throughout the relationship. picnics, Kata loves going out with them on picnics. it took some convincing at first, as we all know Kata prefers to eat in privacy, but they found a perfect spot on Komugi Island by a pond where no one could bother them. since then, that’s how Kata likes to show his romantic side and keep his s/o happy, weekly picnic dates.

- realistically, Kata does quite a lot to keep his s/o happy. he involves them in most of his work, makes them feel like family (by making sure his family loves them almost just as much as he does), protects them, and just loves them to death! there’s really no room for questioning, it’s all evident in his actions. he’s a little blushy when being verbally romantic and it’s just so sweet because it’s obvious that he is trying. he’s been waiting for the right love to come along, so he makes sure to keep the romance alive in their relationship.

T = Thrill - Do they need to try out new things to spice out your relationship? Or do they prefer a certain routine?

- Kata is up for trying new things, he doesn’t ever want his partner to get bored of him after all. the picnic became a new addition to their relationship that he has grown to love, so he’s become open to other things. the more secluded, the better of course. he doesn’t want to do anything crazy or dangerous like cliff diving or sky diving, but going out into the town, shopping, strolling, etc. is always a nice change of pace.

- he’s getting older, so he wants someone to settle down with. thrilling adventures are a thing of the past, he just wants someone to love and care for, so he wouldn’t dare put them in any risky situations. as mentioned, some leisurely activities like picnic dates or cooking together is about all he can offer. he doesn’t mind routine one bit, just as long as he has them.

- for their fancy dinner dates, he likes to have something new prepared every time. he’ll always include family members and their specialties. and since there’s so many of them, there’s always an opportunity for something new to eat! there is some routine regarding family stuff as well. meetings, dinners, all the like. the best is family game night, and honestly, that can be pretty thrilling lol 

U = Understanding - How good do they know their partner? Are they empathetic?

- throughout the relationship, Kata develops a deep emotional connection to his partner. he constantly studies his partner when they’re not looking, and has a clear understanding of their normal mannerisms. so when they start acting strange, he notices immediately. and after some time, he knows exactly how to cheer them up. he’s very attentive to his partner’s love language and needs! 

- it took a bit of adjusting, but after some time, Kata has learned how to approach arguments or when his partner is upset. he’s a great listener, rarely does he ever get defensive, and he tries his hardest to be empathetic towards their feelings. communication is something Kata has greatly improved upon and thus has greatly improved their relationship.

- Kata knows his partner up, down, and all around. even the most obscure things like their favorite season, the way they act when they get nervous, or how many pairs of shoes they own. his mind is like an encyclopedia of his partner lol he just feels like he can’t afford to mess anything up, so he makes sure to take note of everything he can about them so he can keep them happy!

So you haven’t read shun’s yet? You definitely should he’s my fav lol, and what did you think of Jun’s route? I know a lot of people had issues with what he said to the mc (I can’t remember word for word but I hope you know what i’m on about). And also Yukihisa is a cutie

i haven’t yet! bc in my mind he’s just the boss haha and also just a crush bc somehow along the course of reading im, it’s become cemented in my mind that natsu/mc is im’s canon couple (even tho it’s CLEARLY shun). but i really should, esp since he’s perma-free! 

i did really enjoy jun’s route. weirdly, i find that he’s a little different in all the subsequent epilogues/stories from the impression i got of him reading his ms, so i had to do some character reassessment in my head. but i did like him and respect his ~hustle~ (or like... the way he puts his subordinates above himself) and their surprising connection over the mc’s ad was adorable. yeah i think the issue was with him basically saying he has no respect for women who sleep around/have one night stands? some people were saying that he’s a hypocrite and a misogynist bc it takes two to have a one night stand but i’m pretty certain they clear that up even in the route? he apologises for saying that about her and explains that he means he thought she was one of those women who just casually sleep with him bc they’re only attracted to his position/power etc. and not because they genuinely like him as a real human person. personally i think they explained his comment well enough and they demonstrate his growing respect for her through his actions throughout the route as well - and i find that jun is a character whose care is best understood through his actions, so it’s more important to see what he does rather than what he says

Hello! ~ Oh my god, not the easiest character I've worked on! Sincerely tried to make something accurate though, I hope this will suit you 😋

Akainu :

• Being involved in a relationship with Akainu isn't always a piece of cake. He's not the best man to expose his feelings, nor his emotions (when it comes to love... because he certainly knows how to be angry), and he's more than hard to read. Akainu is focus on his job, and since he's at the head of the marine, well, you can't expect him to be particularly present in your relationship

• Even though, you manages to catch his attention, and even for him, it's a surprising twist. He won't open his heart about his feelings for you, but you will certainly feel a change within his attituds and behaviors when you are around. Still, it requires that you are focus on it

• He doesn't like when you interrupt his activities in his office, but from time to time, Akainu allows himself a break, taping his lap to make you seat there, so he can finish his report, his hand wandering on the curves of your body, skimming your back

• He's not particularly demonstrative in public, and tends to be utterly cold when you dare speak to him if there's anyone from the marine around - yes, he cares about his image - but he likes the fact that he can always have a look on you, despite his distant nature. He wants to make sure that you're not up to something stupid, and generally always asks to his troop where did you go

• Akainu isn't demonstrative either in your private moments, but sometimes he appreciated to have you close. He has some tender gestures from time to time, or what he believes are tender. He fondles your hair when you walk near him, or massages your shoulders for five seconds when you're getting ready in the bathroom. It happens more often when he has something anxious running in his mind and he needs to find some comfort somewhere ; so you're the best target to have some relief

• Despite his impossible nature, Akainu makes sure to always greet you in the morning by a quick but real kiss on your cheek. There's this weird belief in the marines which says that it brings back luck on you if you stay upset to your loved ones when you're about to go on mission, and even if Akainu is someone rather rational and logic, he tends to follow this conviction and never misses the chance to drop his lips on your jaw

• Akainu and dates don't really get along, first because the man is busy, and second because he's too important to actually have some side pointless activities he judges useless. He knows that it affects you, so sometimes, he organizes a dinner in his office, with candles and napkins, and he tries his best to clear his schedule to offer you a good moment. And sincerely, dear, it's a lot of efforts for him...

• The gifts he might bought are certainly not the ones you would expect, but at least, when Akainu is gone for a long time, he always brings something back from an island, dropping it on your bed when he's sure you're not around. You smile and know that he thought about you, but don't necessarily thank him for that ; he doesn't want to be flustered by some awkward greetings when he needs to focus on work

• He's really harsh and mean during your fights, and you better be sure that he will push all of your triggers to make you feel like shit for days... But... He makes some efforts to make amend, and when his anger is gone, he finds you wherever you are and pats your head silently. You won't hear any apologie, but this gesture means "let's move on, Name", and you have learnt to accept it and to heal your sorry heart with this only attention from him

• Even if your relationship is not an easy one, Akainu is someone faithful. Once he's fully engaged with you, you better be sure that he will honor his promise and won't ever betray you. It's a soft relief, because even if you're craving more of his attention, at least you know that this man will remain yours, no matter what

CAN WE TALK ABOUT SANJI’S GLOVES

I'm just expanding on an earlier post, but like... can you imagine how purely chaotic some of those warlord meetings were??

I mean, I know most of the time, half the warlords didn't even deign to show up but. A lot of them have nothing better to do so I really have to wonder what it was like when most of them did...

Post / during timeskip, you've got buggy, who despite trying to pretend he's a real warlord is for the most part just cowering in the corner and hoping not to piss off any big names. You've got hancock, who hates every single person in this room on principle and so probably refuses to even speak most of the time. You've got doflamingo, purposefully stirring everyone up, killing a few gaurds here and there, and generally being himself (an asshole) while pissing as many people off as he can.

For a little while, you've got law, who for reasons nobody else in the room can figure out, is constantly giving doffy the stink eye and being petty at him. You've got weevil, who is deemed just a little bit too stupid to participate and therefore ignored completely. You've got kuma, the only one even attempting to sit down and actually discuss things. And of course you've got mihawk, sipping his wine ominously and watching the everything unfold half-amusedly, half-exasperatedly from the sidelines.

Back when sengoku was fleet admiral, imagine how hard he was trying not to just shoot doffy on the spot for killing his adoptive in cold blood. But with sakazuki, it's much worse. His complete and utter contempt for pirates and everybody else in the room is obvious and only serves to aggravate the already-strange situation further. Not to mention dealing with the fact that last time doflamingo was at mariegeoise, he brought an ex-tenryuubito (also his father's) severed head. Who the fuck is to say he won't try that again?? And with the amount of secrets that he could spill at a moments notice of he desired? OOF.

It's an incredible recipe for disaster. 90% of the participants in this meeting are completely unhappy with being here, and those who aren't have realized there isn't a lot of purpose in actually trying to get much done. It would have been so fun to see a scene play out here (like seriously oda, the missed opportunities), but due to reverie... I guess we never will?

Sabo’s possible final fight

I know lots of people speculate about who might be his final opponent. this character is a wild card and we don’t seem to know what Oda has in his mind for him. 

People want Rob Lucci vs Sabo but I have the feeling it’s going to be a Rob Lucci vs Luffy 2.0. I think it’s going to be boring if we watch another defeat from Lucci from another brother. I’m fine with that. But Luffy has already defeated this guy when he saved Robin. Besides, it reminds me too much DBZ in which only Sengoku could defeat the villains and after their defeats, Sengoku’s friends could also defeat them. You see the pattern? 

Perhaps it’s going to be Fujitora vs Sabo. It would bring closure to their fight at Dressrosa and in the same time, Sabo is going to have the same opponent again and again. I know the manga hinted Sabo and Fujitora fought twice but somehow I would like Oda to change his opponent. 

I know Fujitora and Sabo have matching abilities, sword vs cane, devil fruit vs devil fruit, haki vs haki. Their fight has been amazing during Dressrosa. I have to admit it, I just want to see them at their full potential. Because I have the feeling Sabo didn’t display any of his real abilities as Fujitora. We’ve just got a taste about how powerful they trully might be. 

I know people want to see a Zoro vs Fujitora, but once again it might be interesting to see an actual conclusion. 

Actually, Blackbeard vs  Sabo could also be interesting. Teach sold Ace to the World Government, and Sabo fights that government. Teach invaded Impel Down to free lots of criminals and the Government closed its eyes about this action. Blackbeard is a symbol of corruption. He accepted the Shichibukai’s position and he’s glad he can do whatever he wants thanks to this position. He likes the comfort it brings to him. Besides, he can go to Mariegeoise as he wants. 

Plus, Blackbeard destroyed Baltigo, It means Blackbeard doesn’t care about what Sabo fights so hard against. He just cares about himself. He doesn’t want to end slavery, he doesn’t want to end racism, he just wants to profit of anything. This man doesn’t care about the world and its inhabitants. He just likes to bring terror and fear to people. It’s so against Sabo’s ideals. 

Besides, the Revolutionaries have already fought against the Emperor’s soldiers. 

But once more, I have the feeling Luffy is the only one who will bring down that person. Perhaps Luffy is going to need help to destroy the pirate. 

The last one is very tricky, I know. Akainu vs Sabo. I know Luffy watched Ace’s death in front of his eyes because of that man. This man is fated to fight the main character. One Piece is Luffy’s show, not Sabo’s. 

Actually, it could be refreshing to see Luffy not fighting the guy and it’s not even going to bring down his job as the main character. But for once, I want a major villain to be defeated by someone else. 

Akainu is also a display of corruption. He destroyed Ace and just by destroying Ace, he’s got the title of “hero”. You aren’t a hero when you killed womeone who wanted so badly to die. Someone who’s chased after since his very birth. Someone Sabo knew once. 

Being the one to defeat Akainu will bring peace to his heart for not being there when his brothers needed him the most. People make fun of him because he didn’t help Ace and Sabo is his freaking brother. He’s seen as a heartless person. It’s about honor and justice. 

Besides, Akainu believes you have to kill people on spot, without an actual trial. He hates Revolutionaries as much as he hates Pirates.  He wants to bring down what about Sabo cares the most. 

So in your opinion? Who should be Sabo’s final opponent?

yesss! shun has a permanently free route on jp app as well (alongside eisuke and ayumu) and im generally seems to be well-received! HONESTLY i always go on about how much i love hlitf mc but im mc was literally perfect from day 1 and voltage really peaked with her. also i’ve only played 4 routes all the way through (toma, natsume, jun, kamiki rei) but every single one of them has been amazing with brilliant pacing and development! i’m always glad to see it get the recognition it deserves as it’s SUCH a stellar one!!
