I have so many thoughts about William/John.... not sticking to historical canon necessarily, but I just have a vibe for them. Like John is hos chaotic, messy self and he has the biggest crush on William, and he's so jealous that his brothers get all of Williams attention. William is this long suffering, sweet, kind of chill dude in my head. And John just completely acts out trying to seduce him and get all his attention and William tries to calm the situation down, but is still human and eventually gives in, and John just completely sinks his claws into him because FINALLY he gets to be the center of Williams universe. And it only really works because William is a sweetheart and tolerates much more than he should. Also, when they do get together, turns out that John actually likes being slapped around a bit and get orders barked at him. It's a bit of a slippery slope but William will oblige against better judgement. Also I see John Duttine for this, always. With William, harder, don't have a visual I've approved of yet. I have thought way too much about this. 🐱

Yesss ur right John Duttine is THEE best John for me* he has the silly little boy energy but be depressed and menacing, but also he’s batting his eyelashes and folding his hands while being provoking so cheekily all the time. Love him…

William really is the most long-suffering moral guy so it’s fun to think of him and John interacting together, and especially with William playing such a large role in raising little Henry III it’s neat to think about. He’s really kind of a family man from the outside, but I can see him really developing the affection and loyalty as a levelheaded person even while being in service to extremely volatile people.

*It’s kind of unfair I guess because every single other John adaption is either I guess, Shakespeare John or Robin Hood John, which are fun in their own right but don’t really get to explore the character from beginning to end the way you could in TDC, and see his personal charm and concerns explored alongside of course his famous wild evil moments

Okay so, first, in the end of Crème de la Crème, Blaise says that their parents know basically about everything Blaise went through. Does that mean their parents know about Aunt Violette involvement to Blaise disappearance? Do their parents cut contact with Aunt Violette? I doubt that Blaise would like to see Violette at family reunion or something

Yes, they would cut off contact completely, and try to get her arrested or jailed. It would have been incredibly shocking and upsetting for them and they'd want to protect Blaise and get justice for them as much as they could!

Speaking of aunt Violette, what is Violette motives to pay Lady Renaldt to send Blaise into the mines? Is it because pure greed? Or something entirely different? Or did i actually read to much into this😔😔

Greed and an attempt to wheedle herself in with Lady Renaldt, who's very powerful and influential. I never decided exactly how Violette found out about it, but she wants kickbacks from Lady Renaldt.
