thinking thunks again about how despite the fact they're cousins, yana and marda are very much the very idea of star wars twins

at its core, phase 2 is about two sets of "twins" - the zeverons and the ros - and how their star wars twins-ness reshaped the very fabric, the very fate of the galaxy

and then you have the literal twins of the acolyte and how they also fundamentally reshaped the fate of the galaxy

3. marda is a minimum height asura, so hand to hand is really gonna depend on who shes up against. she knows how to fight up close and could probably pull it off, but she strongly prefers distance.

6. she can do either, but her last krewe typically had a lot of frontline fighters that freed her up to get into position and take out targets from a hiding spot/vantage point, and that was kind of the ideal. shes been ambushed/outnumbered before and hasnt backed down, even though one instance of that led to her getting pretty severely injured. basically, she agreed to stay behind on a kodan sanctuary as 'collateral' while the reat of the krewe investigated something, and icebrood overran the sanctuary while she was alone there.

9. she can probably tear off some strips of her shirt or something to jerry rig a splint or bandages, but she isnt a medic.

12. marda is one of those thieves with a jillion little weapons or devices hidden on herself. without her guns shes still able to grab a dagger, a smoke bomb, or what have you. her hair ribbons are canonly hidden garrotes and shes used them :D

15. while she does have shadow magic and uses it occasionally to hide herself or teleport short distances, its not very strong at all. shes hurt herself just trying to teleport one other person.

18. with no weapons or magic? she fights dirty. i hope you like pocket sand, crotch punches, and being kicked in the knee!

21. she runs deadeye and usually works as a sniper, or uses pistols at a somewhat shorter range.

24. her girlfriend, a dynamics grad, gave her the arcane marksman rifle and pistol set as a gift, and special ammo to go with it. she has other guns, but these arw her go-to.

Look at how incredible this is! I cannot wait to get this in person and actually read it. I know that the audio book is also going to go so hard *just like they all do*

Plus it’s going to be 500+ pages…..we are so not ready for what this book is about to bring. With everything, I know it’s gonna be a rollercoaster from start to finish.

I’ve been keeping up with the High Republic since it was first announced and seeing these characters grow and change has been such an emotional/fulfilling journey. It’s gunna be hard to say goodbye to these characters for awhile. I’m gunna miss em so much. Avar, Elzar, Stellan, Vernestra, Marchion, Bell, Keevee, Xylan Graff, Marda, Kevmo, Loden, Imri, and Gavi all of you will have my heart forever 🫶🏽🫶🏽😭

9. makk is actually super squeamish around blood and cant help anyone XD best he could do is construct a healing turret for some passive wound closing?

yaria is something of an herbalist and field medic, though her skills aren't on par with an actual doctor. she can patch you up well enough to get to one.

halle had to put his skills with needle and thread to work in verdant brink after the pact ships went down, stitching wounded soldiers together. he doesn't LIKE medical work, but he can and will do his best if situations happen.

11. makks weapons have to be things he built or can do physical damage with. guns, explosives, a giant wrench he can use as a hammer, etc. hes no good at all with arcane weapons like foci or scepters, unless he can bonk you on the head with it.

marda does have daggers on her to use in a pinch, but shes kind of bad with them XD long range weapons are way more her speed

25. i played a long time in an rp guild that encouraged canon compliance, so i dont have a whole lot of non-in game magic.

makk is a pretty straightforward engineer who works with his hands a lot, though he does magic up some aspects of his gear like bombs and turrets so i can handwave him just having those things.

halle is necromancer, but has learned how to use his own life force to 'tether' someone on the brink of death and buy them time, if that counts?

yaria treats her undead minions like pets. shes named her flesh golem aloycious and usually has him out and lumbering around behind her for combat, heavy lifting, what have you. she also sometimes holds onto the 'tail' of her blood fiend for comfort, like a kid with a balloon. she tends to supplement her magic with various toxins, and she was doing that well before harbinger dropped :D
