Jin was already pissed that he lost his newest gopher (affectionate) to do stuff for him. But the second that message dropped. He had to do a double and even a triple take to make sure he read that right. As soon as he's sure he IMMEDIATELY get Tohma to check the tracker on the cruiser he lent out to them (he's rich. He absolutely has a tracker put on his shit)

Kaito is screaming, crying, throwing up (okay maybe not that last one). He's READY to go dive into the water to save MC. He is LOSING IT scoob!

Some would think that our boy Luca would try to keep Kaito calm....in actuality he's almost just as bad. He just manages to keep it on the inside. He's trying to do it through the proper channels (ie Professor Dante) but when that doesn't work or will take too long for their liking, he's coming up with an escape plan right alongside Kaito.

We gave to remember that Luca has already lost one of his loved ones. He's sure as HELL not losing another one without a fight!

Tohma is STRESSED! Not because MC is missing though. He's concerned sure, but he's sure they'll come back soon, missions are typically dangerous after all. He doesn't have much faith in the academy itself. Its more of a logical way of thinking. Its one day, he's sure they're fine.

Where his stress is coming from is the other Frostheim ghouls. He's basically that meme of someone with kids on leashes each going in different directions. Someone HELP this man's before he goes gray!

VAGASTROM

Alan had to hear from someone else. He was shocked to hear that MC had gone missing. It was even worse since the last time he saw them they weren't sure if their ability worked or how it worked. He went to go ask some of the professors to see what happened but got what was essentially nothing.

Sho was worried but he didn't show it. He tried to play it off like he was too focused on his food truck to worry about the honor student. He did however ask his brother about them when he saw him next. His brother mercilessly teased him about possibly liking MC and Sho instantly regretted asking. Every now and then he considered trying to call MC to see if they would answer.

He decided against it and focused more on his truck to keep his mind off of things.

Leo doesn't care. At this point he still wants to take MC down. So while its not the way he wanted to do it, it meant no more annoying NPC tagging along on missions with them. So to him, it was a win. The only annoying part was Alan and Sho worrying about them. He didn't get it and just laughed at the gossip on WickChat about the meltdown at Frostheim.

I know everyone & their mother memed about how series Alastor isnt scary, which I absolutley agree with, but I wanted to give my own 2 cents

One horror element i feel like is never used with Alastor is music ironically enough. In modern horror, it's a common trope to use old music as it creates this uneasy & unknown feeling. Alastor is a radio host from the 30s, who is supposed to be this intimidating & mysterious figure, so this trope would be right up his alley. But knowing Vivziepop doesn't do her reserch, this aspect isnt used at all. Which is a shame because distorted old music creates such a different vibe i can't really explain it.

Like, instead of making edgy threats, he lets the music he emits speak for itself. When Husk makes his leash comment, he doesn't say anything with his back towards Husk. Then 'Childishly fresh eyes' starts playing. Still not a peep from Al, but it's enough for Husk to apologize & retract his statement.

I really wish Vivziepop and the writers played around with Alastor’s radio and shadow during season 1. It could’ve led to a bunch of pretty cool and mysterious moments. Speaking of old radio music used by Alastor, there’s a comic created by Ninja and dubbed by Paranoid DJ where it sets the scene pretty well using old timey music from Alastor.

In the comic dub, Angel Dust is desperately looking for Fat Nuggets and hears music coming from Alastor only to discover that Alastor is eating “Fat Nuggets.” Absolute chills. Letting the music speak for itself would be so powerful. The edgy threats Alastor makes throughout season 1 is so unserious 😂.

Don’t get me wrong, I love jayvik as much as the next autistic girl in this fandom. But I am very annoyed at jayvik OVERTAKING the entire fandom

Especially on tumblr if I look at the Single Viktor or Jayce tag, the ENTIRE thing is choked out by jayvik. And I like it, it’s cute, but it’s gotten to the point that I can’t see any content just appreciating their characters alone without the need of a ship. It’s the same for caitvi too

I think there’s something to be said when analyzing season 2, that it’s a perfect example of why writers should not let fans dictate their story’s. Jayvik had phenomenal build up in S1, but the way they were portrayed in S2 felt like fan service- let me explain

So much of the jayvik content I see is incredibly out of character and stereotypical (as many MLM pairings are reduced too) Viktor is either a helpless twink, or an all powerful god that has Jayce on a leash. Why are we making Viktor a shy soft boy? He was the CEO of the sassy man apocalypse?

It’s also very sad to see Jayce’s character get watered down to “pathetic himbo golden retriever twunk with no brain cells” and yeah, the pathetic Jayce memes are funny but it’s annoying when people think that’s ALL his character is. He gets written as a dick-for-brains dumbass with 0 common sense or basic skills… when he was a university educated engineer and eventually POLITICIAN

But back on topic to jayvik in s2 feeling like fanservice, a lot of the time I see fans wanting jayvik to have an almost codependent relationship, and that’s exactly the undertone a lot of jayvik moments in s2 had. The dynamic between Jesus/machine herald vik and Jayce was undoubtedly toxic with a huge power dynamic. I’m just very disappointed because I was excited to see jayvik be developed more in a creative way, and instead they just slapped on the soulmates trope.

And don’t get me wrong- do I love Viktors end monologue? Yes. Do I think they should have kissed with some tongue at the end? Absolutely. But the entire situation of s2 just felt icky, not to mention how Viktor completely lost is autonomy to the arcane TWICE in one season. Idk but Viktor becoming a whole maniacle malevolent god who wants to “perfect” all of humanity… but can only be brought back to his own humanity by his boyfriend just felt… cheap.

It felt like a metaphor for Viktors disability, and how he needed to be “saved” from himself. Which in turn completely nullified all of this character development. And do not get me STARTED on how much Viktors arc was ruined in season 2, that deserves a whole post in itself

Overall these are purely my opinions, and I’m still going to be hypocritically eating up jayvik content with a spoon because it’s still my favorite ship, I just believe it could have been portrayed better. I have, actually! I did a run where I recruited Minthara with the new recruit exploit and I actually love the potential for their dynamic but I can’t justify why Shri’iia would choose to save her since she was still in her 🤸‍♂️ lowkey Lolth stan era.

But I actually love them together because they’re both Oath of Vengeance Paladins but the difference is Minthara is born into power; Shri’iia literally had to sign her autonomy away to taste a sliver of it. Not to mention that drows are operate in a hierarchal society where their class def matters, but now suddenly the roles flips between them where it’s the common girl who has the power while the noble has to follow her. The stance towards Lolth ends up being different too and it’s largely influenced by their upbringing; Minthara is more likely to choose defiance and vengeance as a drow noble since she was taught how to play the game and power is paramount, but for Shri’iia who was born with nothing but her ambition - and that landed her in a place where she got dehumanised and turned into a weapon - decided to just abandon that path entirely because she’s already experienced how it all played out.

Like it’s soo interesting to me and I really love it but I’m like 😭 no way she will spare Minthara when her whole oath breaking revolves around trying to do what she thought was correct and getting punished for it bc the goddess she serves is ultimately fickle and chaotic

but omg I love the idea that Hap’s devotion just starts to get so twisted and sick bc what is the difference between reverence and obsession, really? Like that is such a sicko yes concept girls when devotion ultimately leads to their downfall…!! Bc the whole thing of devoting yourself for the greater good is well and all but then it starts to get murky on who deserves to die and who doesn’t…. And the serial killer genes don’t help either..

so for some background context for Shri’iia - she was a paladin of Lolth who was in service to the matriarch of House Faen Tlabbar for like 100+ years or so. She’s kind of like the matriarch’s hidden weapon, no one knew about her existence except for the matriarch (bc before she was a paladin, she was just another commoner who didn’t belong to any noble house) and she was kept in the dark until her matriarch had some use for her. Like Menzoberranzan is a city that thrives in deceit and secrecy and the best weapon someone could have is a weapon that’s unknown to everyone else but completely loyal to you. Shri’iia agreed to this arrangement since didn’t belong to any noble houses prior - and she’s ambitious as hell lmfao she wanted to be at the top of their hierarchy. To her, she had everything to gain and nothing to lose - not to mention that the matriarchs were the closest beings to Lolth and through them, her will is re-enacted so how could she refuse? so she is like a well trained hound in a way, who’s completely loyal to the spider queen and her matriarch and she does not know anything else but to serve her spider queen bc Lolth is everything….!!!!

that is, until she gets kidnapped, tadpoled, and left in the surface

and the thing is, in all her years she has never once stepped foot in the surface. she hasn’t even explored the entirety of menzoberranzan bc she spent most of her days hidden away. not to mention everything she knows about the surface is from gossip and the horrible shit they tell you about how drows are hated there, and how you’ll be hunted like an animal the moment they see your red eyes, and all that terrible shit. so suffice to say shri’iia is terrified! she hasn’t even seen the sun ever before and she hasn’t touched grass either so now you’re expecting her to be fine when she’s left in a place that could kill her bc she’s a drow? not to mention the tadpole in her head? like early act 1 is just a stressful time for her and the fact that she joins up with these other tadpoled folks who could kill her anytime doesn’t make it less stressful

anyway, bc she’s so paranoid and rn she’s like a professional liar in her nature 🫶 (she’s a charlatan) she makes up this story about how she was born in the surface in some small town that has a population of less than 100, and she obviously does not worship Lolth ew and her oath? she follows a noble cause don’t worry about it (:. so she sticks by that back story to earn the other’s trust! and to save her own skin, more or less but by doing so she’s essentially hiding and being ashamed of her Lolth worship and oh that’s not -

in the ACTUAL game, shri’iia breaks her oath because she tells minthara where the grove is. in her head, what better way to punish a traitor of Lolth than to kill her where everyone is watching! 🤭🤭 like punishments for traitors has to public and humiliating like that is such a good plan (in her head!) except that she didn’t take into account that Lolth was getting tired of her ass for hiding her Lolth worship NOT to mention that she’s not acting like how a paladin of lolth should be acting like why are you listening to some man first of all (since I hc gale is the leader of the party). and by killing minthara in front of the grove she offhandedly saves the tieflings which is another 🫤🫤🫤 as a paladin of Lolth like she‘s gonna have such a bad grade in being an evil aligned paladin

So tl;dr - Shri’iia ends up lying about her entire backstory out of self preservation meaning that she has to lie about her Lolth worship. Lolth is a fickle and proud goddess who doesn’t stand by that shit and drops her ass, now Shri’iia spends the remaining half of act 1 in denial trying to win back Lolth’s favour or else she has to deal with the fact that her identity is essentially gone and she’s been abandoned by the goddess she has fully devoted herself to 🫶🫶
