I am actually somewhat thankful that what I was feeling was Olive's known cancer resurfacing. Which is horrible to say but i thought it may have been her organs slipping through the internal stitches which would've been a new issue and has immediate surgical presidence and would be soooo much more of an immediate and time-sensitive problem on top of what I already know about her having cancer and have to contend with.

Boobs are not balloons full of pudding. There are Normal Structures in there.
It’s normal to be able to feel how the glands are organized into clusters. A healthy lobe feels like a lump, but a sort of squishable lump. Kind of like squeezing a strawberry.
Another important note! It’s somewhat common for your nips to occasionally leak a drop of fluid during the part of puberty where your body hasn’t figured out how to adjust to your changing hormones.
BUT, it is NOT normal for that to continue long-term!
If you aren’t currently experiencing puberty, pregnancy, or nursing, your nips should be dry.
If you’re getting fluid, even just a tiny amount, you should talk to your doctor! Regardless of whatever originally caused it to start, if it goes on long enough, your pituitary gland in your brain can swell up in response. That is all kinds of bad news.
So, you need to take it seriously to avoid creating a serious problem. You don’t need to panic, it’s usually just a case of adjusting meds, but you really shouldn’t ignore it or encourage it!
Tumblr media
PSA to anyone experiencing an estrogen/progesterone-based puberty: when your chest grows, it will likely feel lumpy. Don't panic.
If you're concerned, see a physician (OB/GYNs can always do this, some general practitioners/family doctors can, some hormone physicians can).
They'll feel your chest and under your armpits (where there's also relevant tissue), and if they aren't 100% sure they didn't feel something, they might have you get an ultrasound of the offending side.

Hi everyone,
I know we're all broke and struggling on here, especially around holiday seasons and given other world situations. That said, if anyone has even a few bucks to spare, I would really appreciate it- my darling cat Smokey was diagnosed with cancer a few months ago (July 2024) and needs to get a mammary tumor removed in order to improve her quality of life and hopefully extend the time she has. Various vets I've spoken with have said this surgery could easily give her several more months to, if we're lucky, potentially another year or two.
Tumblr doesn't like outside links so I'm going to add the link to our fundraiser in a reblog and in the comments. Even if you yourself can't donate, please consider spreading and signal boosting so we can reach a larger audience!
Smokey says thank you for helping her, whether through donations or reblogs, everything helps. 🐈‍⬛💕

Running this up on behalf of a friend that's not on tumblr but know I am, the initial GFM was for helping with Gloria with cancer treatments, things have taken a turn because of being poisoned somehow by Feliway.
My guess is there was a allergic reaction or possible issue with quality control with the product, but either way
Use caution if you use this product.
This is their current update
Gloria is hospitalized on oxygen. She's drooling and has labored breathing/lowered heart rate. Her potassium is somewhat low. I don't want my baby to die. Poison control confirmed this is due to Feliway.
I would be incredibly grateful if you could pass this around and even more so if you could toss in a few coins to help keep Gloria around a while longer.

And, the first tumor for that dog, it started as a mammary tumor, of course, and I noticed it when I moved in. I asked for someone to take her to the vet because I was already struggling to keep up with my own dog's medical bills and my mother lied and said she's already gotten it looked at, and they said it was just a benign lump. It makes me so angry, still, that she lied, that even though it was obviously incredibly aggressive cancer, there was still a chance that it could have been removed when it wasn't an entire chain of tumors taking up a quarter of her chest's mass, if it had just been treated at all, I would have at least tried, if I knew it was not going to be treated at all. All just to avoid the embarrassment of a sick dog? The fear of making adult choices with real consequences where every option is scary and hurts? When they are sick and old and dying is when our pets need us the most, the most important time to be strong and push those childish emotions aside because they are hurting even worse than we are

If it's possible to request all the riddlers I was wondering if we could have their reaction to their s/o breast cancer scare? (Totally not me projecting)
Thanks of you do this!
❤️ anon
"Breast Cancer scare" Riddler party x Reader
First of all, I want to thank you for having patience with me on an ask that's much more personal. Second, I'm hoping by you saying scare that everything was all good? I had to get extra scans a few years back on something sketchy and I was PETRIFIED the entire time waiting for results.
TW: Cancer
Gotham
He's not going to freak out. Nope! Absolutely not. Freaking out is a thing that is not helpful to a situation like this and you don't need ANY additional stress. You notice he's stimming a lot more the past few days... His leg won't stop shaking and bouncing when he sits. He knows what cancer does to the body, he's seen it first hand. How it ravages.
This can lead to a potentially morbid road where he's trying to tell you as much about it as possible. Because if he informs you, it won't be as scary because you'll be expecting it. You'll both be prepared. The way to get this on a better route for the both of you is to have him explain the tissue scans and testing. He can tell you the entire pathology process of it. He holds your hand going through it and it seems to help.
He's going to be reviewing the scans and any results himself after they give you the medical okay. This is in fact to the annoyance of all your doctors, thank you for asking. Edward rationalizes it- No, he's not an expert but he's probably smarter than all of them put together and he knows what to look for. He just... He just wants to see for himself that there's nothing abnormal.
60s
Uncharacteristically quiet. There's no wit or jokes to be made about something like this. Mentally he runs into all the possibilities of results, treatment, how he's going to help you pay for anything you might need. What the future might hold for the two of you. For an instant, he thinks about a world without you and it's enough to feel his heart breaking.
There's these instances where you can see his normally well-kept self slipping. His hair not brushed into place. His clothing is messy and not tucked in. Holding your hand too tightly as you're called in by the doctor or the technician. Pacing for your return. Then you're back and the waiting begins. The worst part.
Then everything is okay. Results came back negative and you're completely fine. A nervous laugh. He makes a joke about your "marvelous, magnificent mammaries" being safe and sound. His insane cackle fills the air. Then he falters for a moment. Sways as though he's faint. You can see the tension physically break over his shoulders. You're alright. That's all that matters.
Capullo
That's a joke... right? It's not funny. Why would you tell him that? You know how serious that is? How is he supposed to focus on ANYTHING now? Everything is getting put on hold until you've been through testing and given the okay. Because OBVIOUSLY you're going to be okay.
Some people remark him as a vain man- which is true. There's an instance when it seems as though it could be positive for cancer. Additional testing or delays, what have you. He gets down to his knees and hugs your legs. Calmly, he tells you he's not leaving, no matter what. He'll love you if your hair all falls out, if your breasts have to be removed. None of that will change how he feels about you. He needs you to hear him say it.
As the negative results come in... He's smoothing back his hair and speaking too quickly. Good. It's good, you know? He quotes Princess Bride, “There's a shortage of perfect breasts in this world. It would be a pity to damage yours.” Ignore the way his hands are shaking HE'S FINE.
BTAS
What do you need? It's the first thing that falls from his mouth. What can he give you or do for you that will help in this time? Rationally speaking, he's not only trying to help you, he's trying to keep himself busy doing things for you as to not focus on the possibilities. He'll clean for you and cook for you and shop for you- Just tell him, sweetheart, and he's going to do it for you.
He will drop you off for any and all appointments but he won't stay by himself waiting. He can't. He can't stay in that place and imagine- Imagine the results. Think about what's happening to you in there even though it's standard procedures. He'll confirm about how long everything will take and be back just before you're out. He brought you lunch, your favorite :)
He finally looks tired when you're given a clean bill of health. He's been running himself ragged for this. It's what he wanted to do, but that doesn't make it less exhausting. He confirms that you're okay and then goes to sleep for almost ten hours straight.
Telltale games
Potentially the most level-headed about it. On the surface. He blinks when you tell him. He rattles off statistics about how much more likely it is you'll receive a benign diagnosis. It can come off cold but it's all an emotional defense mechanism for him.
This doesn't stop him from attending any and all appointments you're going to need for confirmation. They aren't letting him in the room, of course, but he doesn't leave the imaging center. He doesn't leave the doctors office. He sits there with a book when they tell him you'll be a while. He... can't leave you alone with this. He needs to know how it was when you come out- if you're okay.
When everything is alright he'll act as if he was never worried in the first place. See? He told you. Were you worried? Don't worry, that's what he's good at is keeping YOU grounded. It's not like if something happened to you he'd burn the world down or anything.
Arkham games
He attempts to act as though he's not freaking out about it. These things happen. No matter what, the two of you will figure it out. You'll get the results and... Whatever happens happens. Nothing can be changed now. That's just logical.
Later on, maybe even months later, you'll find plans he had developed that involved so much abduction of the top cancer researchers in the world into one laboratory space. Their entire lives, potential blackmail he could use, bribery- All of it was for you. He spiraled himself into the worst possible scenario and what he was going to have to do to make you better.
When you tell him officially that everything is in the clear, he asks if you're sure. You see his shoulders relax and he actually gets up to hug you. No smart ass response. No quips. Just a sigh.
Batman 2022/Nashton
When you tell him about the possibility, he's going through several phases of upset at one time. Denial, then anger, then depression- At some point he will lock himself into a room to have a full blown panic attack. This isn't on you. He does WANT to know something this important. It's just his emotional coping mechanisms are still horrendous and he doesn't know how to handle this. How to handle the mere idea he could lose you and there's nothing he can do.
If there is a service where you have to refresh to see results after testing, he's going to be refreshing every ten minutes on the side. If the results are even a day later than they said, he's calling. You, his lover, NEEDS to know! HE needs to know! Right now!
He does tear up when he realizes you're going to be okay. For once, it's happy tears, he's just so relieved. When you go to bed that night, he's going to big spoon you and stick like velcro.
BTAA
No, no! That's not- Listen, sweetheart, you can't get sick like that. You just can't. Because that would mean you're not okay. And if you're not okay, he's not okay! Okay? So let's just talk about this. From the top, tell him why your doctors have it in their numbskulls that you could have cancer. He's pacing back and forth. Okay. You'll get the tests. And then... he'll figure this out. You point out he's not the doctor and he waves his hand.
Gets very testy with the office when they get your appointments mixed up. He is on the phone and he is going to make someone regret their mistakes. Don't they know how important this is? How vital it is that this process goes as smoothly as possible so you can get what it is you need? Does he need to come down there and talk to a supervisor? Because he fucking will and- Yes, babe, he's fine but they can't just treat you like this!
Bundle of anxiety until the results come back. There's so much to unpack here and most of it boils down to cancer being an incredible unknown factor he has no control over. For him, that's terrifying. What if he lost you? Even after he knows everything is okay, please just let him hold you.

Hello! I saw a post about your dog recovering from ovary-sparing spay and as someone else interested in this route, I am curious what made you choose it.
Sure, I'm happy to explain! :)
So, especially if it is done earlier in life, there are a lot of health concerns associated with traditional spaying (orthopedic issues, urinary incontinence, even certain cancers,) as well as behavioral ones. Of particular concern to me, more and more data is showing an association between spaying and increased anxiety-related behaviors... Which, for Juniper in particular as an already anxious dog, I really did not want to risk making that worse for her.
The timing of spaying is however a balancing act with the increased risk of mammary tumors (early spay reduces the risk for this.) So it's kind of a tough balancing act and a really personal decision, but for me, I feel it's better to wait to spay until maturity, for both physical health and mental maturity/behavioral issues. For most breeds of dog this would be around at least 1.5 to 2 years of age.
That said, the increased risk of mammary tumors seems to rise quickly with the first and second heat cycles, but then pretty much plateaus around that point. In other words, doing a traditional spay on a dog 2+ years old is unlikely to reduce their risk of mammary tumors. (During my research I also found a bit of conflicting data about the conventionally accepted information on mammary tumor risk, which gave me even further pause in accepting that keeping a dog intact increases risk as much as we've assumed it does.)
So, since my only real remaining health concern with a completely intact female dog is first and foremost pyometra (infection of the uterus, which is not an uncommon condition and scares the crap out of me,) and of course, risk of pregnancy (I feel confident in my own management and don't even have any male dogs living here anymore, much less intact ones, but crazy accidents can always happen, male dogs can be VERY determined...) Ovary sparing spay takes care of both these concerns (a proper OSS that removes all uterine tissue + cervix should carry no risk of "stump pyometra") while avoiding any of my concerns with traditional spay.
Also, some dogs do seem to struggle/not feel well during heat cycles (which, since Juni still has her ovaries, her body will still go through heat cycles, she just can't get pregnant and will probably not have any bloody discharge, but if she does it will be reduced,) or have distressing false pregnancies etc. But Juni has none of these issues and her heat cycles are easy on her and not stressful. So I wasn't concerned about that either.
So that was our logic for the decision! Personally, unless and until there is further research definitively conflicting with the conclusions I've drawn about this, I intend for all of my future dogs to have an ovary sparing spay vs. traditional spay (full ovariohysterectomy) done.
(In addition, ethically I just don't jive well with the idea of surgically altering an animal if it's not necessary/not to their benefit (e.g. things done purely for aesthetic, or done largely for human convenience, etc.) In many countries, routine spay/neuter is practically unheard of--it's really only here in the United States that the general consensus is that spay/neuter is the objectively correct and responsible choice... And, while this is a bit more personal and emotionally driven, I have had an ovary sparing spay done on myself and have had a really great experience with it and the outcome for my own body, and I feel like it is intuitively correct that keeping our bodies working hormonally as naturally as possible is just...typically healthier and better for us. I wasn't going to remove my own ovaries for the health risks and other effects that would have on me, so I didn't want to do that to my dog either. I wanted to give my dog the same healthy outcome I wanted for myself.)
I hope that helps! :) And if you are interested, here are a few studies that I read during my research that helped me reach my decision: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6

I hate to do this but this is my best friends cat and they just found out she needs surgery. Even between the three roommates they can't afford to cover the whole thing even with pet insurance.
We would appreciate any and all help with this. Even if it's a reblog to reach a larger audience. Thank you everyone!

*deep breath*
Beanie has a mammary tumor, ductal carcinoma in situ. No obvious mets. I thought that this was an abscess yesterday morning when I took her in. Surgery is Wednesday, and I have a referral to a veterinary oncologist. I'll set up a recovery room for her here at home.
Cancer changes you. I'm okay, but not okay. My headspace is clear about Next Steps and procedure. I'm in a strange, liminal space between What Was and What Is Yet To Be. I have jumped out of the plane, but have not yet hit the ground of deployed the parachute. I cry in short little bursts, letting off the pressure. At the same time, I'm doing what I did when I was diagnosed and making final arrangements.
I'm in pain, but it's at a remove. It only hurts when I look at it.

Cat owner who has let their cat's horrific mammary cancer get out of control by no showing to multiple surgery dates we've made over a multi-year timespan: wow I cannot believe you can't squeeze me in sooner don't you know my cat has cancer and is dying and is very stinky because of the gaping wound in my cat's abdomen that hasn't healed since we discovered it two years ago
Me looking at the scheduler in horror because I can clearly see the problem: yeah it's weird it's like we've been squeezing you in for the past couple years and you couldn't be bothered to show up to literally any of these appointments

Let's investigate the 4 chemicals in Palestine Ohio's train derailment and their so-called slow burn operation that our government said was safe.👇
1. VINYL CHLORIDE
A chemical warfare agent in WWII ☠️
Is vinyl chloride harmful to human health?
⚠️Exposure to vinyl chloride may increase a person's risk of developing cancer. Human and animal studies show higher rates of liver, lung and several other types of cancer. Being exposed to vinyl chloride can affect a person's liver, kidney, lung, spleen, nervous system and blood.
How much vinyl chloride cause cancer?
Studies of long-term exposure in animals showed that cancer of the liver and mammary gland may increase at very low levels of vinyl chloride in the air (50 ppm). Lab animals fed low levels of vinyl chloride each day (2 mg/kg/day) during their lifetime had an increased risk of getting liver cancer.
Is vinyl chloride a hazardous waste?
⚠️Vinyl Chloride is hazardous to the environment.
2. ETHYLENE GLYCOL
What is ethylene glycol used in?
DESCRIPTION: Ethylene glycol is a useful industrial compound found in many consumer products. Examples include antifreeze, hydraulic brake fluids, some stamp pad inks, ballpoint pens, solvents, paints, plastics, films, and cosmetics.
How is ethylene glycol harmful to humans?
An overdose of ethylene glycol can damage the brain, lungs, liver, and kidneys. The poisoning causes disturbances in the body's chemistry, including metabolic acidosis (increased acids in the bloodstream and tissues). The disturbances may be severe enough to cause profound shock, organ failure, and death.
How does ethylene glycol affect the brain?
Ethylene glycol (EG) is a toxic alcohol that causes central nervous system depression and multiple metabolic abnormalities including a high anion gap metabolic acidosis (HAGMA), elevated osmolal gap (OG), and acute kidney injury. Few case reports of EG intoxication report brain MRI findings.
Is ethylene glycol a carcinogen?
🚩EPA has not classified ethylene glycol for carcinogenicity. Chronic Effects (Noncancer): The only effects were noted in a study of individuals exposed to low levels of ethylene glycol by inhalation for about a month were throat and upper respiratory tract irritation.
Is ethylene glycol monobutyl ether harmful to humans?
The substance is irritating to the eyes, skin and respiratory tract. The substance may cause effects on the central nervous system, blood, kidneys and liver. A harmful contamination of the air will be reached rather slowly on evaporation of this substance at 20°C.
3. MONOBUTYL ETHER
What is the use of monobutyl ether?
It is used as a solvent in surface coatings in paints; as a coupling agent in metal and household cleaners; as an intermediate in chemical production; and is also found in brake fluids and in printing ink.
Is butyl ether toxic?
⚠️Acute Health Effects☠️
The following acute (short-term) health effects may occur immediately or shortly after exposure to Butyl Ether: * Contact can irritate the skin and eyes. * Repeated or prolonged skin contact may cause rash. Breathing Butyl Ether can irritate the nose and throat causing coughing and wheezing.
Is ether toxic to humans?
⚠️Breathing Diethyl Ether can cause drowsiness, excitement, dizziness, vomiting, irregular breathing, and increased saliva. High exposure can cause unconsciousness and even death.
Is ether a carcinogen?
► Bis(Chloromethyl) Ether is a CARCINOGEN in humans. There may be NO safe level of exposure to a carcinogen, so all contact should be reduced to the lowest possible level.
Combustible. Above 60°C explosive vapour/air mixtures may be formed. NO open flames. Above 60°C use a closed system and ventilation.
4. ETHYLHEXYL ACRYLATE
Is ethylhexyl acrylate toxic?
Like any reactive chemical, 2-Ethylhexyl acrylate can be hazardous if not handled properly. May be harmful if swallowed. Ingestion may cause gastrointestinal irritation or ulceration. Limited dermal contact or vapour concentrations attainable at room temperature are not hazardous on single short duration exposures.
Is Ethylhexyl acrylate copolymer safe?
Although the monomers may be toxic, the levels that would be found in cosmetic formulations are not considered to present a safety risk. Accordingly, these Acrylate Copolymers are considered safe for use in cosmetic formulations when formulated to avoid irritation.
Are acrylates safe?
The International Agency of Research on Cancer as well as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have classified acrylates as a possible human carcinogen. Exposure to acrylates has been linked to skin, eye, and throat reactions [1] as well as more serious health consequences such as: Cancer.
Is ethylhexyl harmful for skin?
Ethylhexylglycerin is not safe due to its performance as a contact allergen.
Is ethyl acrylate carcinogenic?
⚠️Cancer Hazard☠️
* Ethyl Acrylate may be a CARCINOGEN in humans since it has been shown to cause stomach cancer in animals.
🚩Spoiler Alert⚠️ It's NOT safe and in fact it is highly toxic☠️
This will affect millions of people and it may flow into the Mississippi river as well. 🤔
