Game night with the TW pack (S4)
Masterlist The pack being teens Word count: 872
“We are not playing Monopoly again Stiles” Lydia sighed looking at the mentioned boy disapprovingly. Stiles looked at her confused “Why not? It’s fun!” Scott laughed at his comment, shaking his head while Lydia just sighed again. “Fun for you and no one else. You turn into a monster when you play Monopoly. I’m not doing it again.” Stiles pouted before flopping down on the couch, crossing his arms.
“We could play UNO?” Kira suggested softly, she’s sitting at the coffee table crisscross style. She held up the pack of UNO cards, smiling sweetly at Lydia who shrugged in response. Malia moved to sit next to Stiles before she took the packet of cards. “Yeah, I still remember how to play this at least. My sister and I used to play this a lot.” She smiled softly at the memories coming to mind as she placed the cards down on the coffee table.
As everyone took a seat either on the couch or around the coffee table, Kira started to shuffle the cards. It didn’t take long for the game to turn into a chaotic mess. Stiles thought someone messed with his cards, there’s no way he just had luck that bad. Malia was placing as many +2 cards as she could and somehow kept getting them. Kira and Scott just played the game as they were supposed to. The kitsune even apologised when she made someone take cards or skip their turn. So did Scott, at first, but he quickly started turning competitive like the others.
Lydia was winning, of course. Stiles had accused her of cheating, but she simply claimed to be good at the game. “You can’t be good at UNO, that’s literally impossible” Stiles spoke loudly. The redhead laughed softly before she shook her head “Maybe for you it is.” As she placed another +2 card she proudly said “UNO” making Stiles grumble as he took two cards to add to his already full hand. After a few more rounds, where Lydia won once more, Kira once and Malia once, they decided to play something else instead.
Malia and Stiles were arguing about game choices when Scott received a text from Liam asking if they were doing anything. He quickly invited Liam to come over and join game night. It didn’t take long at all for the young wolf to arrive and join the argument about what game should be played next.
“What about Scrabble?” Lydia asked holding the game up. “No, you’d definitely win that,” Stiles said, shaking his head. Lydia sighed before putting the game back down. Malia looked at all the options laid out on the table before she picked one up. “This one looks fun,” she said before starting to read the backside of the game's box. Stiles walked over to her, looking at the game she chose “Yeah, actually we could play this one.” “What game is it?” Scott asked from where he was still sitting on the couch, Kira rested her head against his legs. “Clue” Malia read from the box, shrugging before she looked at the people in the room.
Scott shrugged before nodding “Could do, I haven’t played this in ages.” The group moved to sit down again. Liam started to help Malia empty the box, placing everything down as it should be. He handed the instructions to Scott, smiling excitedly. “I love games like this” he said to no one in particular. Scott laughed softly before looking at the character options. He looked at Kira before asking her what character she’d like to be.
She looked at all the options before picking DR. Orchid. “She looks the most like me,” she said smiling. She pointed at the card that read Mrs. Peacock “Malia, you should pick her, she looks like you!” The coyote looked at the card she was pointing at before she nodded in agreement and took the card. A moment later everyone had a character chosen, going with the one they look most like. Well, except Liam, who got stuck with Mr. Mustard.
Scott started to explain the game and the rules, going over it twice so everyone understood. The game started slowly while everyone was figuring out how to play properly. Soon enough it turned into everyone accusing everyone. Liam and Stiles were accusing each other, sure of their thoughts. Scott had a feeling it was Kira or Lydia, the latter thinking it was Malia. It ended up being Kira, who cleverly had almost everyone defending her. Except Scott of course, who was going to say she was the killer but ended up deciding to follow Lydia’s choice.
The night finally ended after this game. In the end, Stiles, Liam and Malia had gotten so heated the pack almost decided to end the game early. Especially when Stiles reached over to try and choke Liam. Who is stronger and easily overtook him before Scott made them stop, sit down and play the game properly. When everyone had cooled down Stiles decided to drive Lydia and Malia home. Kira and Liam deciding to stay over at Scott’s place stayed awake a bit longer before eventually they all went to bed. Already excited for the next game night.

The pack is fighting a witch, now they don't really know how to fight a witch. Yeah, it would be easier if Stiles was there with them, but he had to go to this camp or whatever that Deaton said it was going to help with Stiles' new powers after the Nogitsune. So, they have zero idea what they're doing. Derek has enough and calls Stiles, gaining a glare from Scott, Isaac, Lydia, Malia and even Kira 'cause that's something they agreed they wouldn't do to not worry Stiles. Once Stiles picks up, Derek just casually asks "So...You know, not that we really need it right now but...Do you know how to kill a witch?" and Stiles is just like "Seriously? A witch is literally a human with magic, so just kill her the way you would with a regular human. Shot her, slash her throat, poison her, stab her...I don't know, pick one!" And then Lydia takes the phone off Derek and asks "My Banshee scream would kill her?" and Stiles replies "If your scream kills, then yes, just be careful with the rest of the pack." and then Lydia hangs up and gives Derek his phone back. Kira ends up killing the witch with her katana.
Stiles totally knew Derek was calling him about the witch because the pack was fighting a witch...He might have asked Deaton to keep him informed about the threats the pack is dealing during his absence.

As a multishipper I have no problem shipping a character with different people. There's very few ships I genuinely dislike. So here are my top 5 Stiles Stilinski ships.
5. Stiles X Malia
I loved this. I was super excited when him and her got together. It wasn't my all time favorite couple but it broke my heart when they split up. As much as I do love other couples more than this one I would have loved having them a little longer.
Tumblr media
4. Stiles X Derek
It's a classic ship. I do believe that they would have made an amazing couple. It hurts that they didn't get their chance. I fully believe that Stiles was Derek's mate.
Tumblr media
3. Stiles X Scott
This is a ship I never saw myself loving as much as I do. It's not even about them being gay for each other. It's about them being happiest with each other. They're inseparable at times and make me feel like they're two parts of a whole. I love that in a dynamic.
Tumblr media
2. Stiles X Lydia
Lydia Martin can step on me and I'd thank her. I get why Stiles is obsessed. She only becomes a more appealing character as the show progresses. I was ecstatic that they finally happened. That ship has shaped my brain and changed me. Despite thinking there's a better ship for Stiles I truly believe they are soulmates. This has been one of my favorites forever and is barely beaten out.
Tumblr media
1. Stiles X Jackson
I go feral for these bitches. Maybe I'm just really into assholes. But this is my favorite enemies to lovers. I mourn the scenes we could have gotten between these two. If we had had more time with them I feel like it would be as big as Sterek. Jacksons character didn't get the character development and arc it deserved. I was devastated when Colton left the show.

Chapter 5 - Vigilante Shit {Thiam}
Peter got back up, opening his eyes and screaming with the tape still over his mouth, thus startling Corey who screamed at the top of his lungs as Theo took one of the small horse darts he had and drove it violently into his leg, causing him to fall back into the seat.
Theo and Corey looked at each other, Corey completely shocked and Theo amused, shrugging.
Theo started the car, slammed on the brakes and roared the engine ready to go.

I know I did this before but second movie idea for teen wolf I’d Stiles was there (short):
Stiles is desperate and upset about Lydia and how his life’s going so he goes and finds the Nogitsune. He lets it go and it possesses him once more then yeah. Or it just goes and possesses someone else and he has to go to Scott and them to solve it.

During the entirety of Teen Wolf, I feel like we don’t get to see enough of the pack just hanging out. They’re always trying to survive or solving some sort of mystery. Give me the pack playing games and ordering take-out. I want to see more characters who don’t interact much on screen together. So, I’m going to write some stories about the pack just being teens and having fun. The line up might change, im open to suggestions so if you guys have a fun idea don’t be afraid to let me know!
Game night with the pack
Kira being taught how to play lacrosse
Lydia helping Malia study
Spa session with Derek's pack
Movie night with the pack
Liam asking Lydia for dating advise
Kira teaching Stiles how to use a katana

The Hale Family
So, as someone who is an avid enjoyer of all Hales, particularly the Hale men, and is a writer, naturally their wider family comes up when I write. Anywhere between ten and fourteen people died in the Hale fire, not all Werewolves but presumably all family. That is a big ass family.
So, I did what Jeff Davis’s clown lookin’ coward ass couldn’t and I made the full Hale family, further extended family pending because I have too much free time.
Also, they even have birthdays, death dates, and birth years. Fuck you, Jeff.
I won’t be covering Derek, Cora or Malia in particular detail, just giving some basics, because otherwise this post would be.. even longer than it already is.
This took so damn long so.. enjoy
Tumblr media
(This timeline works under the assumption that season 6B, when Scott and co are eighteen, takes place in the year 2013, and fuck you all the Hales lived and got to see their full potential so they can have actual personalities.)
Lillian and Lincoln Hale (Emma Thompson and Eric Roberts)
Lillian, she/her, straight. Born Werewolf.
Lincoln, he/him, straight. Bitten Werewolf.
Lillian’s birthday - July 20th, 1943. Cancer.
Lincoln’s birthday - December 27th, 1940. Capricorn.
Lillian’s death - October 12th, 1997.
Lincoln’s death - March 23rd, 2004.
Lillian lived until Peter, the youngest of five siblings, was fourteen years old and then died. She was the Alpha until her death, and at this point her eldest daughter Talia inherited the spark.
Lillian could’ve been a chef, but she chose to remain at home to care for her gaggle of pups, and later their grandchildren. She loved poetry, and that’s one of the reasons she fell in love with her husband, who was an amateur poet. She loved all of her children equally, or so she said, but everyone knew that Peter was her favourite. He was so much younger than his siblings, so truly they didn’t mind.
Lillian was a Cancer, the mother of the zodiac. She was very maternal, to any and all members of the pack, even those who were older or weren’t family. She argued this was because she was the Alpha, but Lincoln said it was just her nature. He loved that about her.
Lillian died just a short while before her youngest son turned sixteen. She was aged fifty-four. When she died, she was holding her son, who had skipped school that day to be close to her.
Lincoln was not as soft as his wife; he was firmer with his children but still rarely denied them things. He was passionate about education and wanted all of his children to excel in their chosen field, never wanting to pressure them into something they hated. You cannot succeed fully in something that you hate. He loved literature, particularly poetry, and nature. He was elated to move into the pack house when he married Lillian.
Lincoln was a Capricorn, the zodiac that thirsts for knowledge with his birthday on December 27th and was born in the year 1940. He never got a chance to go to university as a young man as he came from a lower-class family than his wife but if it had been an option, he would’ve done it online later in life.
Lincoln died aged sixty-four. Talia had been the closest to her father and it was her that organised his funeral, though it was a family decision to bury him beside his wife.
Talia and Nathaniel Hale (Alicia Coppola and Skeet Ulrich)
Talia, she/her, bisexual. Born Werewolf.
Nathaniel, he/him, heterosexual (Talia-sexual). Bitten Werewolf.
Talia’s birthday - February 18th, 1963. Aquarius.
Nathaniel’s birthday - March 30th, 1963. Aries.
Their anniversary - December 26th. They’ve been married for twenty-nine years.
Talia was prepared for a long time to become the Alpha. Unlike many hunter families, Werewolf packs are generally not matriarchal, and neither are the Hales, instead the responsibility of becoming Alpha is given to the eldest born of the current Alpha. This is only not done in rare circumstances such as the eldest dying before becoming Alpha, the eldest being younger than eighteen when the current Alpha dies, or them nominating a younger sibling as a ‘better fit’ for the role. Talia had none of these happen.
She wasn’t sure that she wanted to be the Alpha, she had a good political career ahead of her that she didn’t want to give up. Then, her husband Nathaniel (who her siblings swear up and down is her soulmate) pointed out that she could have both. He was there for her to lean on when things got hard, as the partner of the Alpha, and plenty of women were excellent mothers while having thriving careers. So, she did both.
Talia was the mayor of Beacon Hills for many years and was well loved by her community. She invested family wealth into the town, making sure the community was not lacking in what it needed, never shying away from hard truths when it came to her work.
Nathaniel married into the Hale family because he loved Talia with every piece of himself. When she told him about Werewolves, he hadn’t missed a beat. The night she told him was the night that he told her that he loved her. He became a Werewolf himself shortly after Talia became the Alpha. They were both thirty-four at the time.
Nathaniel loves Talia because she’s intelligent, a problem solver, he is sure there will never be an issue in their lives that she cannot overcome. Talia loves Nathaniel because he’s grounded and calm, and he has silly quirks that make her laugh like his personal vendetta against green beans.
The couple began having children quite quickly. They were high school sweethearts, went to the same college, and once they had both graduated, they began trying for children immediately. It took a while, and in retrospect they were glad because it gave them time to settle more into their careers, and Laura was born in 1986, when the two were twenty-three. Derek followed in ‘88 and Cora in ‘95, the couple aged twenty-five and thirty-two respectively.
Mae and Stuart Hale (Adelaine Morin and Andrew Walker)
Mae, she/her, bisexual. Born Werewolf.
Stuart, he/him, pansexual. Human.
Mae’s birthday - September 22nd, 1969. Libra.
Stuart’s birthday - July 3rd, 1965. Cancer.
Their anniversary - February 11th. They’ve been married for twenty-one years.
Mae was the sort of person who could never quite be categorised. She was a social floater, never restricted herself to one interest or social group, tried everything that she could (and given that they were well off, that was plenty of things). She loved her twin brother dearly, but she needed more than family. She couldn’t be entertained by them anymore, not like the could as a kid, and that was nobody’s fault.
She got along with all of her siblings, though wasn’t particularly close with Peter. Again, nobody’s fault, they were just too different. Peter preferred to be calm, stationary, and relaxed, where Mae loved to be on the move, experiencing new things and amped up with adrenaline. The ADHD to his Autism.
Mae met Stuart while hiking. Stuart is the outdoors-y type, and likes anything and everything nature. When she told him about the Supernatural, he took it in stride in a way that no other family addition had (other than, of course, Brooke - who was Supernatural herself). Stuart is a very relaxed man when he isn’t enjoying nature, and he loves how passionate his wife is. They balance each other.
Stuart loves the little things, like playing Lego with his kids and going out on warm days to paddle in the creek that runs through the preserve. He makes sure to track the wildlife in the preserve, not wanting his Wolfy family to accidentally ruin the ecosystem. They assure him that this is unnecessary, but he enjoys it.
George Hale (Jared Padalecki)
George, he/him, biromantic, asexual. Born Werewolf.
George’s birthday - September 22nd, 1969. Libra.
Growing up, George and Mae were practically inseparable, and it was George that changed that. He watched as she changed, becoming less like him, and decided she would be better off with different friends, friends that were more like her and weren’t family members. Sometimes he regrets it, since he was a little lonely in school after that, but he knows it helped her thrive and so he’s also glad that he made the choice. They continued to be close despite the change, which he was glad for.
He’s kind of the black sheep of his siblings (though this did rub off on Peter in his younger years, just a little), with a more alternative style and taste in music, particularly as a teenager and in his 20s. He grew out of that when he had Iris, at least on the outside, though she was raised on rock music.
George wanted children much more than he wanted a partner. He didn’t much care for settling down with someone for the rest of his life, and as much as he understood the appeal and appreciated how happy his siblings were, it just wasn’t for him. But he did want a child. Enter his friend, who wanted to be a surrogate. Money wasn’t a problem for George, so they found the best doctor for the procedures and less than a year later, he had his little girl.
Celia and Brooke Hale (Claire Holt and Kylie Bunbury)
Celia, she/her, bisexual. Born Werewolf.
Brooke, she/her, lesbian. Wendigo.
Celia’s birthday - February 22nd, 1977. Pisces.
Brooke’s birthday - January 8th, 1975. Capricorn.
Their anniversary - July 22nd. They’ve been married for eighteen years.
Celia and Brooke never truly grew up. Celia was always the most energetic and bubbly of her siblings, which absolutely rubbed off on her nieces. The family sometimes joke that they must all have gotten the giggly gene that their aunt has. It’s always been Celia that would be first to volunteer to play with the pups, happy to get muddy or covered in glitter if it would make them happy. The only person who would challenge her for that title would be Peter, but ‘he has a reputation to maintain’.
Brooke was everything that Celia wanted in a life partner. There had been some difficult conversations when Brooke had first met the other Hales because of her species, but after that she had been accepted as if she was a ‘Wolf like the rest of them.
Celia hates the colour yellow and hates her wife for loving the colour yellow. Brooke loves the colour yellow, and loves tormenting her wife with it even more. They’re the most publicly affectionate couple of the Hales, and the locals love them. Celia works in the elementary school with the youngest kids, so lots of moms know her and while the odd one or two are intolerant, generally they love her and love knowing she’s teaching their children to be caring and gentle. Brooke is a private nurse, working specifically with the Supernatural. While some refuse to see her because she’s a Wendigo, many of her clients like her and it’s good for local relations. The Hale pack has the confidence of all Wendigos, within a couple hundred miles. It’s nice. It feels like family.
Peter Hale (Ian Bohen)
Peter, he/him, bisexual. Born Werewolf.
Peter’s birthday - October 27th, 1981. Scorpio.
Peter loves his family dearly, considering himself to be a family man (though he’d never admit it out loud). His best friend growing up was his big sister Celia, and he admired his eldest sister Talia to no end. Mae helped him gain control over his shift and George had taught him how to fight, just in case. Peter went on to become the left hand of the Hale pack.
He was sixteen when he met Corinne, known often by her title of the Desert Wolf. She was a Werecoyote, significantly older than him. He felt special. This is when his daughter Malia was conceived. For a time, Corinne had been content with Peter under her thumb, protected by the power of the Hale pack, or so she thought. When Talia found out, she berated the woman, but Peter’s dedication allowed Corinne to stay. When Malia took half of her power, Corinne fled with her tail between her legs leaving Peter and his siblings to raise Malia to the best of their ability, even while Peter was still in school.
Peter hasn’t bothered with a long-term relationship since Corinne, too absorbed by his duties to his pack, his work obligations and making sure that his daughter has everything that she could ever want. Giving gifts is one of his love languages.
Laura Hale (Meghan Ory)
Laura, she/her, bisexual. Born Werewolf.
Laura’s birthday - June 5th, 1986. Gemini.
Laura grew up with the knowledge that one day she would become the Alpha of her pack, which was shaping up to be... kind of huge. It was a little bit overwhelming, and it worried her sometimes. She was glad to have her brother. Laura, of course, had other friends, but none of them knew about the Supernatural which meant she couldn’t really talk about the stresses that came with being the eldest child of the Alpha. But she could tell Derek.
They weren’t best friends, Peter held that spot for Derek, but they were very close and helped each other with schoolwork, Laura drove Derek home from school when she had a car, but he didn’t, she went to all of his basketball games. They were very close.
Laura loved skincare and flowers; her room was covered in as many plans as she could fit on each surface while still allowing them to grow. Later in life, she began working on her own skincare line, comfortable enough from their family fortune to open up a business and Derek was her unfortunate test subject.
Laura had a very close friend in high school with a boy called Josh. He was a bit of a man whore and had managed to have sex with just the right people to find out about the Supernatural by accident. This made them even closer, even if he couldn’t quite understand. They had gotten very close, she would even dare to say that they had fallen in love, but then a girl that Josh was friends with after sleeping with her became pregnant. He was a good man, only eighteen when he promised to be around to care for his child, but that meant when Laura went to college, they lost contact entirely. She misses him sometimes still.
Derek Hale (Tyler Hoechlin)
Derek, he/him, bisexual. Born Werewolf.
Derek’s birthday - November 7th, 1988. Scorpio.
Cora Hale (Adelaide Kane)
Cora, she/her, lesbian. Born Werewolf.
Cora’s birthday - August 9th, 1995. Leo.
Lucy Hale (Maia Mitchell)
Lucy, she/her, bisexual. Born Werewolf.
Lucy’s birthday - April 29th, 1989. Taurus.
Lucy is kind of anti-social. She got along well with her cousins, happy to be around them, but was never really interested in their rowdy activities. She was a Werewolf like the others, but was more comfortable with Iris as she was human and so had to be careful to avoid being hurt. Often, they would sit together while the others wrestled or played tag with no shoes on.
Lucy didn’t have many friends at school, mostly choosing to keep her head down and get on with things, though she got along well with her teachers. Her best subjects were always maths based (mathematics, physics, engineering) but she never bothered with college. She didn’t need to work, so she wasn’t too worried about higher education. Not to say that she does nothing, of course she does find ways to occupy her time and earn money, but not through conventional means. She also does a lot of volunteering, mostly with the elderly or the homeless. They’re calm, and nice to talk to.
Lucy is the mentally ill one of the younger generation, (maybe excluding poor Derek), suffering with both anxiety and depression, but nobody at home ever lets her sink too far, always there to pull her back and make sure that she’s taking care of herself, even if that just means sitting on the floor in her room while they work so she isn’t alone.
Charlie Hale aka Jackson Whittemore (Colton Haynes)
Jackson, he/him, bisexual. Human.
Jackson’s birthday - June 15th, 1995. Cancer.
Jackson is a human. His mother is a Born Werewolf, but his father is human, and he gets the genetic short end of the stick.
The way I use Jackson’s story here varies based on whether I like Talia for the story. If I decide I can make Talia a bad person, I write that she gave Jackson up for adoption because he was human rather than a Werewolf. If not, Mae and Stuart either died as Jackson’s parents did in canon (car crash, though significantly more Supernatural) or Mae was young when she had Jackson, too young, and he was given up (in this situation, he would be older rather than Lucy). There are various other more outlandish ideas (the Whittemores are hunters that kidnapped Jackson to ‘save’ him) but those are my main ones.
If he’s going to be growing up with the Hales, then he is effectively the same as he is in canon, though with significantly less insecurity. Think young Derek. A little full of himself, still a little arrogant, but his desire for success is driven by competition with intelligent cousins and wanting praise (though he’ll get it regardless because his parents love him), this means if he was given the bite, he would simply become a Werewolf.
Jackson Hale is less emotionally constipated, and more affectionate. He would treat Lydia better, treat Danny better (probably also realise that Danny knows about the Supernatural, maybe even be the one to tell him), and just be an all-around better person. Standard douche still, sure, but not as bad as he was.
Iris Hale (Anna Cathcart)
Iris, she/her, bisexual. Bitten Werewolf.
Iris’s birthday - May 16th, 1993. Taurus.
Iris was conceived in a lab then implanted into her biological mother. She was born a human, because her mother was one, and so grew up cherished. Her father loves her dearly, she was always a little spoiled but thankfully it never got to her head too much. George offered to introduce her to her mother a few times, since after Iris had been born, she’d moved town (for unrelated reasons), but Iris had declined saying that he was all she needed.
Iris is an artist. She is happy to engage in any form of art really, but her favourites are pottery and creative writing. She works as an editor for a small publishing company, and she loves it, mostly working from home and on her own time as long as she meets her deadlines.
She has the bubbly gene that Celia has, seeing the joy in everything that happens, always the one to find the silver lining and people say that it’s contagious. She’s the first person to comfort family when they’re down and is very family oriented.
Iris got the bite from her aunt Talia after she got sick one year. It was only normal winter illness, but she’d gotten one after the other and her immune system was hugely struggling, her doctors warning her to be careful, lest she get sick again, because next time it would be much more dangerous. She got the bite not long later, making her immune to illness.
Sophie Hale (Marsai Martin)
Sophie, she/her, bisexual. Human.
Sophie’s birthday - December 8th, 1992. Sagittarius.
Sophie is the typical ‘basic girl’ type. She’s adopted, and human, and never particularly cared for getting the bite. She doesn’t need that to win against her cousins in a fight. Sophie is a big fan of going to the gym, and when she started going, she went with Derek. He was already more experienced with exercise, having done basketball for years, and he could stop people from staring (not that she couldn’t do that herself, but he had that look that made guys back off). Now she can confidently say, as long as a guy isn’t Supernatural, she can make him back up.
Though, she isn’t just a gym girl, Sophie also loves going clubbing. She’s been drinking since before she was old enough to do so because she could and growing up with Werewolves meant they often forget you aren’t immune like they are. Now, she loves getting dressed up with her girls, sometimes with her cousins too, and going out to Sinema, or sometimes even Jungle, and just having some fun and letting loose.
For work, she just does something perfectly mundane. She works as a receptionist, but she works as a receptionist at a smaller independent B&B. They get people who stop there just overnight as they’re passing through and couples sometimes too - probably having affairs. Originally, she’d applied to various places for similar but better paid positions, but then when a friend mentioned that she worked at the shitty B&B and sometimes worried she would get hurt, Sophie got a job there for herself. Now, she’s also technically security, and she loves it.
Malia Tate (Hale) (Shelley Hennig)
Malia, she/they, panromantic, asexual. Werecoyote.
Malia’s birthday - February 10th, 1997. Aquarius.

chapter two: the dead parent club!
word count: 2.5k
content warnings: language, slight references to nightmares and a car crash but nothing too graphic
It was late in the night, an alarmed Max after bursting into his cousin's room to see if they had both heard the ear-splitting noise from outside. They could rule Melissa out as the culprit, the nurse after leaving for a late night shift not too long ago.
That was what led the pair to creep into Jade's room, grimacing as she stirred, the light from the hallway shining into her room. They were most definitely going to have a riot on their hands in the morning, the girl always being moody until she got a coffee in her at the best of times. They were already mentally preparing for the scolding they were about to get for waking her up but desperate times called for desperate measures.
Max and Scott squabbled silently, both backing away from the bed as they fought over who would wake her. Max smiled triumphantly, tilting his head after shoving his cousin ahead of him. If someone was going to be beaten with a pillow, it wasn't going to be him. He had learnt that lesson too many times to make the same mistake.
Jade woke with a jolt, scream muffled by her pillow as she screwed her body in on itself, trying to make a shield to protect her from the splinters of glass that were flying through the car.
"Calm down, it's just me!" Scott whispered gently, flicking on the lamp on her bedside table in hopes of bringing her back to her senses. To be fair, that was their fault; they should have known not to wake her so suddenly, especially when she was suffering from nightmares so frequently.
"Sorry," Max muttered sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck anxiously as he flopped onto the bottom of the bed, getting a light kick as he sat on her feet. Yeah, thinking back on it, it wasn’t a great idea.
"What the hell is wrong with you two? What time is it?" she asked groggily, burying her head back into her pillow as her heart rate eventually slowed to a normal place. God, what was it with people sneaking up on her? It seemed to happen too often, making her on edge even when she was asleep. It was like the twins couldn't catch a break recently. Well, they could never really catch a break to begin with, it was just getting worse lately.
"It's only twelve," Scott shrugged nonchalantly as if he was usually up at this time on the first day back to school. He had tried to get to sleep, honestly he had, but the nerves and excitement made him restless, no matter how many meditation podcasts he listened to (and trust him, he had listened to a lot of those, even the ones with white noise, brown noise, pink noise, the whole shebang).
"You better have a good reason for waking me up at this godforsaken hour, or I swear, I’m gonna crack up," she hissed furiously, voice muffled from her face still being delved into the pillow. She refused to move from the warmth and comfort of her bed until she was given an explanation she deemed compulsory, although she could gradually feel the sleep start to slip from her body.
"I think there's someone outside, we heard a bang," Scott rambled, eyes widening for emphasis. If she could hurry up and come with them before an intruder broke in, stabbing them all in the process, it would be a great help. "We want you to come with us."
"Remind me, how does this affect me again?" she queried, recoiling away from the bright flashlight that was being shone directly in her eyes. She was seriously going to kick them down the stairs one of these days. The four walls of her jail cell would finally give her some peace. Hey, she might even be able to get some sleep!
"Because it could be a murderer. And if I died you would miss me so much because I'm your favourite cousin," Scott argued his point, nodding along, giving Max a high-five behind his back when she sat up.
His short speech seemed to have worked, the girl begrudgingly forcing herself to her feet, slipping on a pair of trainers, glaring daggers over her shoulder all the same. The string of curse words she muttered under her breath showed she wasn't happy, yet she was coming with them, which was the main thing. "Scott, you're my only cousin," she sighed, throwing on a flannel shirt over her pyjamas. It was destined to be cold outside; spring in California was never the warmest.
Max shared a short-lived glance with his sister as she passed, discreetly nodding as he followed the pair out onto the landing. He wouldn't have woken her up unless he was genuinely worried that someone was outside.
"That's why you'd miss me the most, right, Max?" Scott slammed the door closed behind him. God, the twins wondered if sometimes he momentarily forgot that he had neighbours. What they were more surprised about was that the McCalls hadn't gotten a noise complaint yet. Hey, there was still plenty of time left for that.
"Sure, whatever helps you sleep at night," he rolled his eyes playfully, cracking his knuckles anxiously. He could already tell that Scott was about to quip back a sarcastic joke, their teasing cut short when another crash sounded from outside— this time a lot closer than the last.
The teenagers' eyes shifted nervously between the three of them, wondering who was going to be the sacrifice if it came down to it. Logically, it would have been Jade, considering she was the slowest when it came to running. Although, if she pushed one of the others back— every man for themselves and all that jazz—, she would probably have a higher chance of getting out alive.
Scott motioned for the others to follow him down the stairs, running a hand down the banister to maintain his balance. Jade shoved her phone into her jacket pocket, after grabbing it off her nightstand. She had seen too many horror movies to leave it behind; that was a rookie mistake that the characters made. What if they got kidnapped and needed to send someone their location? Okay, they would kinda be fucked, considering Melissa was the only other phone number that she had from this stupid town. Although she loved her aunt dearly, god the woman didn't have a clue how to use technology.
"Are you seriously going towards the noise?” Max hissed, mouth agape as he waved his hands about. See, this was a prime example of why he was going to start forcing Scott to watch horror movies. Whenever someone went to investigate, they always died, and that was a fact. In his opinion, he'd much rather hide under the covers and pretend he'd never heard anything until it went away. It seemed like the safer option— the less stupider one, anyway.
Scott shushed his cousin, tightening his hold on the wooden banister. He had to know what— or who— was outside, otherwise he had no chance of getting to sleep tonight. Grabbing the baseball bat that he kept beside his back door, he raised it up as if prepared for battle. He knew it wasn’t a weapon that would do the most damage, but a quick swing to the face or the groin and they’d go down like a sack of potatoes.
Jade held her hand out slightly beside her, ignoring the look that she received from her brother. It was merely an instinct by now, magic being a part of her since she was born. Even though her powers weren't working how she wanted right now, that didn't mean she wasn't going to try to help. Besides, it was only a backup plan, in case they really were being attacked. If all came to all, she could just fire as many spells as she could and hope for the best. It would be hard to explain that away, but it was the best plan she had right now.
The McCall boy and Pierce twins stampeded onto the patio, screaming as something fell from the oak tree that resided just outside of the patio, swinging in front of them. Hanging upside down from the tree was the one and only Stiles Stilinski.
Max and Jade hadn't seen him in roughly a year, the same amount of time they hadn't seen Scott in. After arriving at Beacon Hills, there hadn't been a lot of spare time to visit friends they hadn't seen in a while. There were more important things to do, such as planning a funeral for two thirty-four-year-olds.
Stiles had changed a lot, one of the only noticeable consistency’s being his terrible sense of fashion (which wasn't that big of a shocker.) Since his mom had died, he had kept his hair at a short-ish length because she adored it like that, but now he had a buzzcut, something that took it to a whole new level of commitment.
"What the hell are you doing!" Scott screamed at his best friend, firing the baseball bat to the ground in a temper. Thank the heavens his mom was at work or they would have been grounded before the spring semester had even begun.
"You weren't answering your phone!" Stiles shouted back, voice cracking halfway through his sentence. It took a second for it to register that there were other people with Scott, eyes finding the twins, who were awkwardly standing by the back door. "I completely forgot you were here, sorry!" he was fighting a losing battle by trying to untie himself from the tree, after getting his leg caught in a rope of some kind,. "Jade! Max! Long time no see, how have you been!"
He fell with a painful grunt, landing flat on his back like a starfish. Jade covered her mouth, pressing her lips together in an attempt not to laugh, while Max winced and held his back in pain. Apparently, he had an empath connection with Stiles, which was just his luck, considering the hyperactive boy was a walking ambulance.
Stiles continued to ramble on excitedly, brushing the leaves off his jacket. "I'm fine, totally didn't hurt, not at all. That was a stupid question, sorry, you’re obviously not gonna be fine. Hey, at least you're both members of the dead parent club now!"
They'd forgotten the boy had no filter and was as blunt as a pencil, but they knew he meant no harm. Scott kicked him in the shin, trying to communicate with his eyes that were dangerously dark.
Stiles hissed away from his best friend in pain, confused as to why he had gotten brutally attacked before realisation finally dawned. His hand flew up to cover his mouth, trying to take back what he had just said. It hadn't been done out of spite, he just sometimes started talking and didn't know how to stop the words from spewing out. "Oh my god, I said that out loud, didn't I?"
"It's okay. What are you doing here, anyway? It's really early in the morning," Jade pointed out, laughing lightly in an attempt to diffuse the tension that was strangling her like a blanket. There was a knife that seemed to be reserved for especially slicing through their hearts every time someone brought up Sean and Elizabeth.
"Oh, yeah! We need to go to the woods," Stiles tried to stay on topic for what he had originally drove over for, ignoring the bump in the road as his voice filled with excitement, eyes lighting up with devilment— something they had learnt was never a good sign, as it usually ended with them sitting in the sheriffs station.
"Why?" Max questioned sceptically, not wanting to be dragged into a dark forest the night before school. Their eyes met, a blush dusting both their faces. Jade and Scott both had razor-sharp eyes when it came to romantic gestures, not missing the small movement even in the darkness. They knowingly glanced at each other, taunting smiles tugging at their lips.
When they were younger, Stiles and Max had a thing for each other, and both Jade and Scott knew it. In fact, pretty much everyone knew it. Thinking back on it, she was ninety-nine percent sure she had heard Melissa and Noah betting on the kids love lives. Scott used to always tease Stiles over it— he still did, even to this day. Jade used to tease her brother, until one day he said he'd had a seer vision of her falling into a ditch and he was going to let the monster drown her. It had soon shut her up and kept her quiet from mentioning it again— until now. In her defence, she had only been nine!
"Ditch," Max whispered, lips barely moving as he hissed the singular word to his sister, who merely snickered.
"There's a body in the woods," Stiles averted his eyes from the boy's as he rocked backwards and forwards on the balls of his feet.
"A dead body?" Scott scoffed, confused about what was so special. Stiles’ father was the sheriff— they saw dead bodies all the time. Besides, if he wanted to see a dead body so desperately, he could pay a visit to the hospital morgue.
"No, a body of water. Yes, a dead body!" Stiles spat impatiently, already itching to get going. It was good to see that he hadn't lost his signature personality trait— sarcasm.
"Seriously? Screw this, I'm going back to bed," Jade groaned, head already starting to pulse with pain, a sign that a migraine was surfacing. This was too much thinking, too early in the morning.
"I'm getting to that, hold your horses. They only found half of the body," Stiles paused for dramatic effect, nodding reassuringly when their eyes widened in disbelief. They didn't know what on earth they had been expecting, it most definitely hadn't been that.
Max caved, hands on hips as he rushed forward to the baby blue jeep, Stiles following close behind him. "I'm in. This, I wanna see. Dibs on passenger seat!"
Sighing, Jade ran a hand through her hair, turning to her cousin tiredly. "We better make sure they don't get themselves killed."
"Yup," he chuckled, kicking a stray stone out of his path. "You trying out for the lacrosse team in school?"
During the summer, when the Pierces used to visit the McCalls, Scott and Jade used to love playing lacrosse together. Max, on the other hand, stood on the side, on his iPad or phone and screamed when a ball came within an inch of hitting him.
"I think I might, but I don't have any equipment or a kit," Jade trailed off, the two cousins' steps falling in line as they walked down the pebbly driveway. It was pitch black outside, the street lamps and stars in the sky being the only guiding light. It was surprisingly quiet; considering they were on the main road, there was only a rare car that passed by during the night.
"Coach usually has some spare," Scott waved a hand about, stopping to tie his shoelace that had come undone.
"Is Stiles coming to wake us up to go find dead bodies gonna become a regular thing?" Jade sighed, waiting for him to finish the double knot.
"Probably."
"Of course it is."

Zaida: See that guy over there?
Malia: You mean Oliver?
Zaida: I mean the boy that looks like he sleeps with a night light. He’s perfect.
Malia: I don’t know…Oliver’s pretty stable.
Zaida: I don’t think anyone in here is stable - that’s kind of the whole point. Trust me, he’s the one.
