Mini Fanfic #1039: Mistletoe Contest (Super Smash Bros Ultimate)

Coming to you live from Smash Town's Mansion of Smash, comes the first and possibly only annuel.....MISTLETOE CONTEST !!!!!!

Yoshi: (Wearing a Black Tuxedo While Sitting Next to Dark Pit Behind an Anchor's Desk) Greetings, one and all, to our very special evening in the first day of December tonight! I am your host with the most, Yoshi. And here with me my partner in crime, DP.

Dark Pit: (Slouches his Head Down on the Top of his Hand With an Annoyed, Deadpinned Expression) I hate everything about this already....(Turns to Yoshi) What the hell made you think this was remotely a good idea?

Yoshi: Look, the idea just came straight to me alright? Plus, everyone been going under the Mistletoe a lot more often in the last two years, so I figured.....(Shrugs With a Bit of an Awkward Smile on his Face) Why not make a fun contest around it?

Dark Pit: (Raises an Eyebrow at Yoshi in Silence) ........................

Yoshi: ('Sighs') Okay, look, I know this is all a troublesome pain right now, but just like the announcer said: this is one time only contest. So once it's all over, we can never speak of it again and forget it ever come across our minds for the foreseeable future, okay?

Dark Pit: (Stares at Yoshi For Another Brief Second Before Sighing in Defeat) Alright, fine. (Starts Getting his Head Up From the Table Before Straightening Up the Tux He's Also Wearing) Let's get this over with already. (Points at Yoshi) You better take your words to heart on this, Dino Boy.

Yoshi: Yeah, yeah, I know. Now, perk up and explain the rules, will ya?

Dark Pit: (Rolls his Eyes as He Pick the Papers Up From the Desk In Front of Him) Uh-huh. Rules are more simple than you think. The pairs go up under to the Mistletoe and kiss one another till their heart's constant. Just do it straight to the point and keep it PG. I'm looking at you, moms. (Points at his Eyes With Two Fingers Before Pointing at his Two Moms Who Are Bpth Giggling a Tad Bit Nervously)

Yoshi: Alright, with that being said and done, let the contest commence. Oh and also, you guys in the audiences, can vote which performances would be your favorites woth a click or two on your phones. Other than that, let's start this off with one of the youngest sweethearts: Morgana and Lavenza.

Mona and Lavenza starts walking up under the Mistletoe while holding each other's hands.

Yoshi: These two lovebirds has been together for almost a year now. And fun fact: they actually started dating at Christmas morning last year. What a coincidence we're witnessing here, folks.

Lavenza happily gives her boyfriend a kiss on the cheek.

Dark Pit: And there goes the kiss from the young Velvet Girl. But what's this?

Morgana: (Takes a Deep Breath Before Muttering to Himself) No hesitation, Mona. You got this.

Dark Pit: Cat boy here starting to give himself a little pep and-

Yoshi: HOOOO MAMA!

Dark Pit: Right in the ears, man.

Yoshi: (Chuckles a Bit Awkwardly) Sorry. But look.

Dark Pit: (Turns to Sees Mona Places Two Hands onto Lavenza's Cheeks and Begins to Kiss her on the Lips as the Audience Starts 'Oooohing' at Them) Huh. Well, I'll be damned. He actually went for the lips. Lit.

Yoshi: Now that is some major confidence boost right there, folks!

Dark Pit: Yeah, I'm impressed.

The kiss itself Immediately makes the Velvet Girl blush and giggle bahfully as he dramatically falls herself into Mona's arms as he quickly catches her as the audience begins to cheer for two of them.

Lavenza: Oh Mona-Chan~

Morgana: (Already a Bit of a Blushing Messing) A-A-Are you okay, L-Lavenza?~

Lavenza: Okay? I've never been more exhilarated in my entire time!~ (Happily Hugs her Boyfriend) And I have you to thank for that, my dear~

Morgana: Yeah. D-Don't mentioned it. (Finally Begins to Walk Away With Lavenza in his Arms)

Futuba: (In the Crowd) Way to knock her out of her feet, Mona! Nyahahahahaha!~

Haru: (In the Crowd) My baby boy....he's growing up so fast!~

Yoshi: Alrighty, next up on the list is Ren Amamiya and Makoto Niijima. A pair of High school sweethearts still going strong to tis' day.

Dark Pit: One is a smart, caring mother like figure of almost every friend group she's apart of and the other is named Ren.

Ren: (Gives Dark Pit a Deadpinned Look on his Face While Standing Under the Mistletoe with Makoto) Gee, Love you too, Pitto.

Makoto: Ren, focus.

Ren: Right, right.

As they grab each other's hands, Ren and Makoto starts doing a little tango before the Queen starts spinning and dipping her man into her arms, giving him a kiss on the lips after that.

Audience: (Cheers and Applaud)

Yoshi: Wow, I gotta say. That has to be one of the most stylish Mistletoe Kiss yet.

Dark Pit: (Scoffs While Rolling his Eyes) Yeah. For a blatant showoff- Agh! (Immediately Gets a Rose Thrown at Him Before Glaring at the Culprit) Really!?

Ren: (Glares at Dark Pit While Holding a Bonquet of Roses) There's plenty more of that to come around, judge boy.

Dark Pit: (Immediately Gets Up From his Seat) Bring it then, rise boy! I ain't scared of you or your bonquet!

Makoto: Boys, stop this bickering at once. (Uses her Signature Cold Niijima Glare at Both Her Boyfriend and the Dark Angel) Or else......

Ren: Yes, ma'am.

Dark Pit: (Sits Back Down on his Seat) Won't happen again, ma'am.

Yoshi: Ha. You both got whipped-

Dark Pit: (Quickly Elbows Yoshi's Side Stomach) Do you forget we still have a contest to run?

Yoshi: (Winces in Pain) Right....(Tries Composing Himself by Clearing his Throat) Sorry about that. Anyways, next up is the lovely Destiny Island Trio stepping up to the plate. With Sora delivering kisses to two of his lovers.....

Dark Pit: ....And now they're returning the favor. (Sees Sora Happily Jump Up in the After Receiving the Kissses From his Girlfriend and Boyfriend While Screaming "Yeah!" As He Rolls his Eyes) A little too happy about it if you ask me.....

Yoshi: Hey, you'd be happy too if you received love and affection from two love partners on daily basis- Oh wait.

Dark Pit: ('Groans in Annoyance') Anyways, next up is Kirby, Viridi, and my idiot twin brother- agh! (Suddenly Gets Hit in the Face By a Snowball) What the......(Immediately Glares at the Culprit Responsible) Did you just threw a freaking snowball at me!?

Viridi: (Smirks at Dark Pit While Tossing a Snowball Up and Down) Well, duh! I'm the Goddess of Nature, bi- (Notices Kirby is Present) Uh....Jerkface!

Pit: Nice save, Vi.

Viridi: Thank you. (Turns and Grab Pit by the Collar Woth a Seductive Smirk on her Face) Now, pucker up, Angel Boi~ (Lowers Pit Down to Her Level and Kiss Him Lovingly on the Lips) ('Mmmmmmmmwah~')

Yoshi: And there she's off with a bang!

Dark Pit: Well, whaddya know? (Starts Smirking Teasingly) She didn't have to stand on her tippy toes to kiss him this time- Agh! (Gets Hit by a Snowball Again Before Growling and Glaring at Viridi Again) Enough with the snowballs already!!

Viridi: Hey, not my fault you're an easy target. Now, if you'll excuse us....(Turns to Kirby With a Smile) Ready, Kirby?

Kirby: Poyo!

As Kirby begins to sit down on the ground, Viridi uses her vines pillar to lift the pink ball up close to her and Pit's height level in order for the both of them to give him kisses on both sides of his cheeks, causing him giggle ticklishly and the crowd to cheer for them all.

Dark Pit: .......Okay, I'll admit. That's actually pretty cute.

Yoshi: Everything involving Kirby is automatically cute.

Dark Pit: True. (Turns Back to Yoshi) Who's next?

Yoshi: (Takes a Look at the List in Front of Him Before Looking Back at Dark Pit) Sonic and Amy. A guy who loves a speedy adventure and a girl who loves the Big Blue Blur himself.

Amy: (Starts Getting Nervous as She Sees the Audience Staring at her and Sonic) Oh gosh.....

Sonic: (Stretching his Arms and Legs Out) Getting cold feet there, Ames?

Amy: Kind of? I mean, I know we've done this multiple times already, but I've never thought we would ever do it in front of a crowd.....But you know what? (Clasps her Hands Together With a Fake Smile on her Face) It's fine. So what if people stare at us? Or that we're being judged on.the whole thing?

Sonic: Uhh....Amy?

Amy: I mean, it's not like it's gonna matter in the long run, right?

Sonic: Amyyyyy.

Amy: (Smile Slowly Starts Faulter into a Nervous Frown) Or that one tiny, little screw up is gonna to haunt the both of us for the rest of our lives Tull one of us kick the bucket......

Sonic: Amy

Amy: (Starts Grinning Very Awkwardly and Scaredly Now) But it's fine! It's fine! Really! I feel absolutely no pressure from it whatsoever. None. At. Allllllll-

Sonic: AMY!

Amy: (Immediately Comes Back to Reality as She Turns Back to Sonic) Yes, dear?

Sonic: (Takes a Deep Breath Before Gently Grabbing Both of his Girlfriend's Hands) Listen, I know I've said that you've been taking charge in our relationship a whole lot recently, but....how about I take the wheel for once, yeah?

Amy: I-I mean, sure, I gue-

Before she could try finishing that sentence, Sonic pulls Amy in for the most passionate kiss on the lips, he has given to her yet, much to the surprise of everyone else present in the same room. This, in it of itself, causes the pink, red dressed hedgehog to forget about the anxiety and worries about tonight's contest and instead let the kiss received from her loving boyfriend, over take her train of thought and making her legs wobble to the point where Sonic begins to pick her up from the ground she's standing on.

Sonic: So? How was that for a Mistletoe kiss?

Amy: (Completely Speechless) ....................

Sonic: I-It wasn't too much, was it? I mean, I know I'm not as nearly as romantic as you, but-

Amy: A-

Sonic: Hm?

Amy: A-A......Aaaaasa- (Eyes Begins to Sparkle Towards Sonic) Amazing~

Audience begins to cheer and applaud for the couple

Sonic: ('Sighs in Relief') Oh thank God you like it- I mean! (Quickly Waves his Quills Back in a Non-Calonte Manner) Yeah. ('Sniff') I know it is. But anyways....(Starts Looking For Something From his Coat Pocket) About we go back to your place for some hot coco? (Throws a Golden Ring to the Ground, Causing It to Grow Large and Create a Destination Portal in Front of Him and Amy) It'll be my treat.

Amy: Yeah. I love Hot Coco. (Starts Snuggling Up on Sonic's Shoulder) And you~

Sonic: (Chuckles Lightly as He Takes Himself and Amy into the Giant Ring, Disappearing Itself Within a Few Seconds) Love you too, Ames. I love you too.

Dark Pit: (Almost at a Loss For Words at What They Just Saw) Huh. Did not expect Sonic, of all people, to be that romantic.

Yoshi: He's been woth Amy for three or four years now, right? Maybe it got him to learn a thing or two about it overtime?

Dark Pit: It's possible. ('Sigh') But speaking of which, last and.....unfortunately not least, we have the final couple taking inner stage, Palutena and- (Suddenly Felt Something Tapping the Side of his Back Before He Turns to See a Shy Guy Staring at Him) What? What?

The Shy Guy gives DP a single piece of paper before running off.

Dark Pit: What the.....(Starts Reading the Paper Given to Him) Wait......(Eyes Begins to Widened at Each Word Written on the Letter) No way.......(Balls his Fist Up Together and Looks Up at the Ceiling Above Him) Oh thank you, merciful Goddess Mom, our eyes are saved!!

Yoshi: Why? What happened?

Dark Pit starts whispering in the green dinosaur's ears about what letter says. It didn't take long for his eyes to widened as well.

Yoshi: You're kidding.

Dark Pit: Nope. It's true. (Gives Yoshi the Letter to Read) Take a look at thos yourself.

Yoshi: (Starts Speed Reading the Letter as his Eyes Widens Again Before Finally Sighing in Relief) This really is a Christmas Miracle.....(Starts Clearing his Throat Before Turning Back at Audience) Uh....due to sudden circumstances, our last contestants has decided to dropout the competition at the very last second.

Dark Pit: Which means it's time to tally up the votes. (Turns to Yoshi) If you would?

Yoshi: Why, certainly. (Picks His Tablet Up From the Desk and Begins Counting the Votes Together) Okay. Coming in 3rd Place with 86 votes, are Ren and Makoto.......Second place with 96 votes are the Trio: Pit, Viridi, and Kirby.

Kirby: (Happily Cheers in Rejoice) Poyo!!~

Pit: (Raises his Fist Up in the Air in Rejoice as Well) I'm not dead last for something for once!~

Viridi: (Giggles Softly at How Cute her Two Boys Are Being)

Yoshi: And now, yhe 1st Place winner of the Mistletoe Contest are.......(Starts Looking Closy at the Votes Before His Eyes Starts to Widens Yet Again) Oh crap. Coming in at a whopping 225 votes is a tie between Mona X Lavenza and Sonic X Amy!

Morgana: (Eyes Widened in Complete Shock) We won!? (Happily Jumps and Pumps his Fists Up in the Air) We woooooon!!!~

Lavenza: (Smiles Brightly as She Happily Hugs Her Boyfriend in Glee) A tied match up, but still a victory nonetheless!~

Yoshi: Shy Guys, show 'em what they've won!!

Shy Guy: We don't have prizes for them to give.

All the contestants turn their faces at the two judges as Pitto Immediately starts to remember something.

Dark Pit: Ah shit. I knew we forgot something!

Yoshi: Uhhhh.....How about we all have a pizza, movie night party tomorrow? Our treat.

The Contestants: (Stares at the Duo For a Few Seconds Before Nodding in Agreement) Yeah, sure/ Okay./ We can do that. Better than nothing./ Mmhmm.

Sora: I like Pizza Parties.

Dark Pit: And there you have it, folks. Our first and only Mistletoe Contest of the year-

Yoshi: Waiwaiwait! Hold on a second!

Dark Pit: ('Groans') What now?

Yoshi: Before we end this off forever, there's still a very secret contestants that has yet participate.

Hey let's rate the DGR1 formal outfits Part 1

No fuck this.

I'm stuck at a hotel and I have to get up at 1:00 in the morning so I can make it to work at 3:00 and it's just a job transition and basically I'm going to be rating the Danganronpa formal wear from the 10th anniversary because I don't want to sleep.

some more komahina parent au cuz I’m thinking about it + Lil baby makoto doin lil baby things cuz that's what he do! Kinda long under cut!^^’

+ They the adopted the young lad when he was just a newborn (Fresh outta the batterbox- yes and that is what she said!)

+They’re kinda concerned when they first met him because he was quite a tiny little thing and the nurse was like “Oh no he’s healthy! He’s just very small for a newborn that’s all!”

+ Idk if I said this already but they didn’t want to introduce Makoto to the former class until he was bigger, because they want to at least get him settled and not overwhelm him with so many new faces (and with the class in general being loud)

+ Newborn makoto acted like a typical newborn; crying through the night, hungry, you know newborn things. As for his parents, they mostly took ‘shifts’ (aka one finding the other passed out on the couch while the milk boils over and makoto is still crying in the bg)....yeah they’re totally fine :)

+When they were still prepping for makoto they actually went to quite abit of parenting classes and was practically dragged into a baby shopping spree with the girls. They wanted to go with more neutral colors as they didn’t know his gender at the time but instead uh... let's say lil’ koto has an interesting wardrobe thanks to his aunts (and uncles too!) + He’s also in one of these (Nagito’s fault) cuz..LISTEN ITS TOO CUTE OF OPPORTUNITY TO PASS UP OK-

+ They often feared they were doing bad job with Makoto, but then they watch how other other people treat their kids or how the kids would treat them and they look at makoto who be vibing and they’re like ‘I guess we’re doing alright..’ =beyond this point is when he in his months and like 1st year= +I think its pretty obvious to say that makoto is more or less a happy lil baby! He liked to laugh and giggle a lot, and clap (no particular reason he just did.) and wiggle around (ibuki: It looks like little mako is dancing! Go on mako! show ‘em your moves!!). Still pretty small tho because he cursed like that. + Because he is so small he HATES being cold, like lil man will throw a fit if you even think about not bundling him up. Even if it’s just a lil chilly out so they always make sure to bring a spare blanket with them whenever they go out. + His favorite heat warmer is his papa (Hajime) he’s just lot warmer and softer than his dada (Nagito) both body and heat wise. (Nagito is still Nagito just without his illness, so he’s just really pale and lanky.) But that just means he has a lot of photo ops to take of the sleeping pair. +People often ask the pair if makoto is their biological son because of just how similar he looks to the two of them, sometimes to mess with people they say yes. +Makoto likes to babble.. quite a lot, he likes to babble a lot to parents. Nagito plays along and also talk to him to. Hajime often watches the two interact and is like ‘what on earth are they planning???’ (M: bab bab ba ba *shierks* N: *Babbles back* M: *babbles and claps his hands* N: Ah yes, I know perhaps we can go do that later, we should be able to find that there.) +Whenever Makoto starts to babble to Hajime, the two talk like they’re having a conversation of sort back and forth. Though hajime talks normal words to him. (M: Ba! ba! ababab aaaa! H: Wha-? You want cereal? No Mako! I’m not giving you cereal yet your not old enough. M: *cries*) +LoOK I know I said Izuru would only talk normally to him, but it's too funny not to think about Izuru babbling to Makoto. (Makoto and Izuru: *having a conversation* Hajime: *comes in* what are you two doing? Izuru: *sighs* you’re interrupting a important conversation here.) +In this AU nagito is an amputee (no left hand, he lost it due to the plane crash when he was young) Whenever nagito has his prosthetic off, Makoto often thinks that his stump is a great pacifier/teething toy. +Now I have no clue what job Hajime or Nagito would have but, Hajime does have one (one that he could tell you about). Nagito.. well let me explain; If you ever watched Martin, then there was this running gag in the show where Tommy always said he got a job but he never said what the job and everyone would ask what he did and he’d just reply ‘ it’s my job’....yeah so that's nagito. + So anyway, Nagito also brings Makoto with him to commit arson, he carries him around in baby carrier don’t worry! he got lil headphones, glass and stuff for protection! + Their family portrait is the three of them in all black with shades looking like they came outta an action movie (they’re posing dramatically too) while they’re like an explosion/ big ass fire behind them. Mahiru was very concerned for Makoto’s safety that day. +They’re nicknames for him range from ‘Koto, Mako, lil nugget, hope nugget’ and then everyone else has different ones for him (tiny person of light, makutie, lil’ man, Koko, mini nagito, big or mini mac, and little shit.) + Nagito holds him like he is the most delicate little thing, Hajime holds him like a normal person should, Izuru knows how to hold him properly but he doesn’t, he will pick his nephew by his leg and hold him upside down and just carry him around like that (Makoto will just giggle while his parents kinda freak out). + For his first birthday it mostly just consisted of his parents and his aunt + uncles (and their kids if they had any). He managed to “blow out” the candle by thwacking the flame with his hand, didn’t affect him to bad bc they got a cute cake smash photo with a cake covered Mako (A bad alternative would be him not touching the cake at all because he thwacked fire and it made him cry/scared the shit out of him) + Nagito came to find that with makoto his luck is a lil weird; like when he goes to play the lottery he finds that he isn’t winning like he used too. But when it comes the big numbers something bad happens that day and he goes to play and he wins. Weird huh? (I'm sorry i don’t nagito’s luck cycle that well-) + The moment makoto learns how to use his legs properly and can run, it is ON. Also he is one of those kids that if he’s too quiet for to long he’s up to something. + Makoto wants your food, and is not taking no for an answer. He’ll look at either of his parents and if they don’t give him the food fast enough or at all, he’ll just forcibly grab the spoon or fork and eat it (if its a finger food he’ll just aggressive grab the food from the bowl) don’t let it be one of his fav foods, he will fight you. Their drink aren’t save either if there's a straw he’s taking that too.

Sailor Moon Costume Redesign

You thought you had seen the last of me hehehe but no! Sorry to @kichimiangra because I wanted to post this before but life happened. I'm back this time with ideas of the redesign of the main characters because. As always you can find all my rambling at #sailormoonremakemanga

-Usagi Tsukino: the buns stays because it wouldn't be Usagi without them also they are cute as hell. A deeper hair colour however would be better, maybe some light brown of a really dark blond. Curvyyy! Usagi eats a lot and exercise little so I think she could have some nice curves and not be a table board.

-Sailor moon: now if Usagi has a darker hair colour her transformation could have her completely blonde and then people would not realise that it is indeed Usagi in disguise. I would keep the red orbs on her buns as she can use ultrasounds with it and probably the tiara because is cute but I will totally add the mask she has a the beginning only maybe doing it a bit like a Robin domino mask. The bow on the chest will stay but I will put kind of like a Shera skirt, like a flowy navy skirt over some dark pants so she can kick ass without worrying about perverts. I will add some wrist guantlets as she usually attacks throwing something so she doesn't get hurt, again like the Robin from the image.

-Ami Mizuno: I kind of want Ami so be short in comparison to the others. Probably still Asian but with real black hair, not blue. The hairstyle is cool but probably will have it shorter kind of like these really trendy buch girls. She will starts without the piercings and then probably shortly after her first transformation she will add several piercings in her ears.

-Sailor Mercury: blueee haiiir, I seriously adoree her hair so it's a bit difficult for me to see her in any other style. A visor over her eyes like when she uses the computer thingi me but always, along with an ear piece to communicate. Transparent sleeves as her element is water (like the draft), and a long skirt that kind of emulates water so it has a frilly white end with blue degrading upwards into white or transparency, similar to the sleeves from the image but with less white and more delicate. Bow and tiara stay the same (maybe change the brooch) like the piercing on her ears.

-Rei Hino: so Rei is supposed to be the heir of the temple so I imagine her being kind of traditional in her clothing, mostly dark colours, but little by little adding some colours (because of Minako influence). Still long hair but she probably keeps it in this super long ponytail or even a tight bun when in archery practice.

-Sailor Mars: I kind of see her with a dark black hair but with dark red highlights or even red locks with a crow feather pin on the side. As I said I will keep the bow and tiara because they are such iconic items. I want her uniform to look similar to her priest outfit so probably a white top with really wide sleeves kind of like the image of Kagome. Probably several paper charms stored somewhere on her hips so she can throw them to her enemies and the brooch she wore in the first versions of her dress. Her red hight heels are compulsory, they are awesome, but add some stocking. For the bottom part probably wide short pants (like the image) or a skirt that opens on a side.

-Makoto Kino: she is tall, like really tall and kind of buff because this girl is strong as hell. Maybe mixed race (Latino maybe like Elena from Star Tinkle precure). Brown hair is okay but the green ball hair tie is a bit boring so I suggest flowery scrunchies and a curly ponytail. Usually baggy clothes and with a punk vibe because let's remember people were kind of scared or her but she is actually a sweetheart. Rose earnings of course. Maybe she even skates because it will be interesting if she has flowery skates.

-Sailor Jupiter: so her hair becomes longer and bigger with little leaves forming a crown around her head. The antenna in her tiara is always out but can extend to make her attacks. Kind of like a military jacket form for the white top with green and pink details and the bow on her chest, same shape like the image but with less embroidery. Around her hips she has the chain with the glass sphere with different flowers she can use against her enemy. Green trousers for her with maybe a back skirt flowing a bit behind her like the yellow cape in the orange skirt. Combat boots because this lady is fierce and will kick you in the mouth.

-Minako Aino: so my baby is a black Nubian princess and you cannot convince me of her being anything else. Also more curvy than Usagi. Black hair with braids and colorful beads. She wears colorful clothes and a lot of accessories like rings, bracelets, etc. She is very good at gimnastics and can dance the house down so she also wears some flashy dance outfits sometimes.

-Sailor Venus: shiny blonde hair of course. Braids on the top part that joint in the red bow and then the hair falls like a cascade like the image. A microphone similar to the one the star fighters have because she can use her voice to attack. Frilly sleeves kind of like a princess dress. Same with the orange skirt, two frilly capes of pure fluff like the Cinderella dress or those cute ballerina dresses like the image. The golden chain on her hips with heart links but I will probably have it rolled on a side like wonder woman with her lasso of truth.

Chapter 1:A new team for a new beginning

Note: So one of the characters has two nicknames which I use both of them. So if it annoys you, I am sorry but I’m using both because I want to and I feel like it's easier for me.

BEEP...BEEP…BEEP...BE-"*Groans* Fuck" The alarm is still ringing as the young boy tryed to find it. "Make it sstop." Screech a bearded dragon who was in a little reptile tank with a heating lamp over it that was on. "What the hell do you think I'm doing, mate?" Said a green hair teen who was groaning at this point as he finally hit his BB-8 alarm clock.

Upon doing this his roommate/ best friend walked in. "Raise and shine sleeping beauties." Said the black haired boy as he put on his glasses. "We don't want to be late on our first day." He walked off as he pulled up his school uniform shirt. "*groans* Yeah...yeah." The green haired boy replied as he got up out of bed and walked over to his closet to grab his school summer uniform. "Jaden, are you going to leave me here or what?"

"Can you wait until I put on my uniform, Draco?" He asked him as he put on his pants. "No." The bearded dragon said as he watched the dark white boy put on his shirt. "Really...you can be a brat at times, you know that?" He said as he took him out of the tank. "I know." Draco said with a smile, well what looked like a smile. Jaden sighed as he did the rest of what he needed to do to get ready. He walked out with his book bag and the bearded dragon in it. "You sure about bringing him? What if the home room teacher gets a panic attack from seeing it?" The black haired boy asked looking at Draco. "I see your point mate, but what else can we do." Jaden starts up. "What if we have a mission at school and besides Xander he's going to be hidden in my desk anyways. So he'll be fine as long as he stays hidden."

"Yeah, and when have I ever got out of his bag back at our old school?" Draco asked looking Xander in the eyes. "Fine but remember," He looks towards Jaden. "Keep him hidden. And” he points at Draco. "don't make any noise. It will be hard for us to pretend that we didn't hear anything." He tells them.

"Alright Xan." Jaden said. "Weird, usually you're the one giving leader like orders." Draco said as he looked at Jaden. He just rolls his eyes at the creature as they head off to their new school, Syujin Academy. They get on to a subway to their new school.

*time skip*

They finally made it to Syujin. "Woah. This place is kinda big." Draco said. "Shh and stay down till lunch, mate." Jaden tells Draco as he pushes the dragons head gently down back in his bag. Both boys shook their heads as they walked into the building. They look around for a bit looking for the principle. When they found his office they went inside. The principle looked up from the papers he was looking at. "Ah, you two must be the new students. Come in and sit down." He said to both of them." As they both took a seat the principle started up again. "So you two must be Jaden-Drake Etheren and Xander Auditore, correct?" They both nodded without really saying a word to him. "Awfully quiet but I understand since it's both of your first day of Syujin Academy." He told them with a smile.

Just then the door opened to reveal a girl in her summer school uniform walking in. "Ah, Ms. Niijima. You're just in time I was about to call you. Can you show Mr. Etheren and Mr. Auditore around the school and then take them both to their respected home rooms." He asked the girl. She nodded. "Of course. Please follow me, you two." They both got up and followed her out. "I'm Makoto Niijima and both of you are?" She asked them. "I'm Jaden-Drake Etheren, you can call me Jaden and or Drake, and this guy is Xander Auditore." Drake said to Makoto. "Well nice to meet you two. Well, let's get started."

They began to walk around and Makoto showed them the different classes. They were walking to the home room building when Jaden-Drake accidentally bumps into a tall black haired boy with messy hair and glass in his summer uniform. "S-sorry I didn't-" he began but got cut off by the boy. "It's fine. I should be the one to say sorry since I didn't see you." While talking to the boy, Draco popped his head out of Jaden's bag to see a black cat with blue eyes. They both stared into each other's eyes. Both sensing something familiar about one another while the humans carrying them walk away. "That boy had a cat in his bag but...something feels...strange about them.” Draco told Drake and Xander. “I can tell what you mean. That boy felt strange as well but I guess in a nice way.” Jaden said to them. “Agreed.” Xander said. After that Makoto walked them around some more then led them to their home room classes. First was Xander both him and Drake said their goodbyes. Then she leads him to his class. “If you have any questions you can always ask me.” she told him. He nodded and thanked her. He then walked into his room home and saw a young looking woman with a yellow shirt and blue jeans skirt and fluffy black short hair.

“Oh, You must be our new student. I am your homeroom teacher Ms. Kawakami.” She said introducing herself to him. “Everyone calm down. This is our new student. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?” She looked at him with a force smile. Um, is she okay? Jaden thought to himself. He shakes his head a little bit. “Um, Yeah...Well My name is Jade-Drake Etheren I go by either Jaden or Drake, it doesn’t really matter. I love to draw and do artsy stuff. I, uh, also love Japanese animation. They're really good in my opinion. I also love reading manga. That should be it. I hope that we can be good friends.” He finished off with a small smile.

“Alright, thank you for that. Go sit behind Akira Kurusu. Uh, Akira can you please stand so he knows where you sit.” Akira stood up as he nodded. Drake was a little surprised and kinda embarrassed as he saw who he was. The boy he had bumped into early when Makoto was showing him around. As he walked to his desk he gave the boy a small smile. Akira watches him the whole time as he sits down. He turns around when the teacher starts back teaching. As soon as he settled down in his seat he passed out due to the lack of sleep.

*time skip: lunch time*

As their last period before lunch ended, hungry students filed out of their classes and into the cafeteria to get their food or take out their lunches and sit down with their friends to talk. Drake slowly walked up to the cafeteria with a nervous expression since he hadn’t been in a school cafeteria in almost a year cause his old high school had an open lunch period. “Nervous much Drake?” said Xander walking up to him. “What? Oh, yeah.” They walked in and found a table away from a lot of the nosey students but close enough to people they’ll soon meet. As soon as they sat down at their seats and take out their lunches, Jaden asks them. “So do you think there is someone at this school that has a distorted desire?” “Probably, however it could be difficult for us to find one. We can’t just fiddle around the Matenav.” Xander explains to him. “That’s true” Draco sighs out while eating dumplings Jaden had made for him the previous night. Jaden thinks for a moment before he suddenly remembers something important. “Wait, I know who would have a distorted desire.” He states with a smile on his face. “You do?”Both Draco and Xander said in surprise.

“YEAH. MY DICK BAG RELATIVE. JONATHAN BRADEMIRE!!!” He yells in a medium tone without realizing that, like perusal. What he didn’t know was that there was a group of people who heard this and their leader turned his head to see the green haired boy standing up looking happy...well what he could tell since he can only see the back of his head. Xander shakes his head trying to signal Drake that there are people watching him. He looks down and sees this then sits down in embarrassment. “Okay so now that we have the person we just need to find him. Thankfully I just know where he is.” Drake tells the other two. Nodding they go back to eating and go talking about their classes with Jaden earning a scowling from Xander for sleeping in his homeroom on their first day unaware that they were still being watched.

*time skip after school*

The trio walked to a giant ancient looking museum. Upon entaining they all were very surprised by the inside. The inside held the most beautiful paintings, statues, and other artworks that have been kept by the man who, for over the years, that he has stolen from others and has profited. Jaden-Drake looked around and sighed. I knew he wouldn’t put that painting up. I'm so dumb. “What painting are you talking about? Is it a baby photo?” Xander asks, looking at him. Drake turned around and looked at him. “What? Oh, Kinda. It’s a family painting that he really did paint just when I was a baby for me as a gift for when I got older. My dad explained to me that he never gave it to us and that he found out that he was stealing others paintings and selling them.” He sighed out while looking at a painting of a knight. Xander then started to look around the room. “Are you using that eagle sense of yours again?” Drake asked him. “You always have a weird glance in your eyes and that mask of yours doesn’t help it.” Xander just glanced over at him. “I know but if it’s important to you then we got to find it.” he told him. “Alright but we’ll get it back when we change his heart, come on let’s get into the metaverse.” The trio didn’t notice a group of six walking in, due to their conversation. Both groups say what they needed to get into the metaverse without noticing each other. The palace looked like an old medieval castle. It had paintings and statues of Jonathan and the people he once considered beloved everywhere.

“Huh, I didn’t expect this.” Drake said. The three of them looked up to see a painting of him as a toddler dressed in princely attire.

“I wonder if this is how he views you.” Xander said. “Yeah.” Draco agreed with him. “*sigh* Maybe.” Jaden saids. All of a sudden they hear voices coming from down the hallway. It didn’t sound like any of the mini bosses or the hinch men. “What the?” Draco said in confusion. The voices got closer and they got into their fighting positions just in case they were foes not friends. They got closer to reveal a group of five humans and one humanoid cat all in different matevese suits. Jaden and Xander look at each other before the group finally notices them. “Who-” Before Jaden can finish that the cat interrupted him. He looked at the boy with black messy hair. Which Jaden could tell it was like the boy he met early today and had that strange feeling with. The cat looked at him and askes. “Are these guys? Could they be friend or are they foe?” Looking up the group saw what the strange talking cat was talking about. Confused but a little bit scared Jaden puts his sword down on the ground then puts his hands up signaling his peace as he slowly rises from the ground. “Friends. Trust me.” Everyone just looked at him a bit confused. Getting out of his confused state Xander raises his hands as well. However, as a precaution the blades are concealed ready to attack.

Draco follows them by dropping his axe and raising his hands. But notices something odd about the black masked feline. “We’re not going to hurt you guys, We’re just here for someone’s heart to change it. That’s it.” Drake explains to them. “And how do we not know you're lying. You could be someone ready to destroy us or the distortion hinch men.” The girl that had a metal looking mask said to them. Drake gave them a WTF look. “...Okay first we don’t even know who you guys are. Second, why in the hell would we kill people that we barely just meet today mind you. Also how do you think we got in here without saying the requirements needed. I mean you can follow the person in but we didn’t really see you until now. And how do we know you aren’t going to do the same thing.” He said. “I...I don’t think they are..something about the blue eyed feline feels familiar.” Draco said to the two humans he knew. “You guys seem to be rather recognizable, Makoto Niijma. My vision is quite useful in identifying people.” Xander told them. “H-how in the effin’ hell?” The boy with spiky blond hair with a skull masked explained. “For someone who pretty vulgar I didn’t expect you not to say fuck. Ryuji Sakamoto.” Jaden said looking at Xander if that was correct. “He appears to be holding back his language.” Xander said looking at Jaden. “Like someone I should now.” “Hey! Anyways to answer your question, Him and I both got unique talents after we made contracts with our respected personas.” Jaden explains to the group. “That is quite interesting.” The bluenette boy with a japanese style fox mask.

“Thank you.” Jaden said with a smile. They all looked at each other trying to see if the other group would run or fight. Realizing that the situation wasn’t going anywhere Draco thought of something. “Wait! I got an idea.” He said. Everyone looked at him. “What if we all worked together.” He told them. They all looked at each. The black haired boy nodded in agreement. Suddenly they heard footsteps coming from the hall where the trios back faces it. When they turned around they saw three huge bodyguards like knights coming towards them. The knights were wearing what looked like a bodyguard’s uniform but had a more knightley apprentice. Right behind them was a man who was wearing a grown and a kingly outfit. Right in front of him was a toddler who looked just like the painting. They stopped as soon as they saw them. “Who are you and what are you doing in my castel?” The king asked the group. The group looked at each other. Most likely due not expecting to meet the main guy that fast. The black masked feline spoked up. “We are the Phantom thieves, come to take your heart.” He points to the group of six. Draco grabs his axs and spins around. “And we are the mysterious ones, the ones once called the hidden ones, we are groupless now but we come here to steal your heart so we can change what you have become.” The humanoid bearded dragon said.

The king took a good look at the three and sneered. “Weren’t you the group that was in America? What happened to the lot of ya?” he asked, having some idea what happened but not the full story. Drake looked at him with a serious expression on his face. “...That really ain’t any of you business. Just give us your treasure and we’ll be on our way.” he said in a serious tone. One that even surprised Xander. The poor nicely dressed boy from the painting looked very uncomfortable/ upset. He doesn’t seem to like the situation at all and is very scared. “Agreed it is none of your concern.” Xander said to the king. Drake could see the little toddler and he in a way understands how he feels. He used to be just like him. Love Jonathon without a care in the world till he found out he had stolen others works of art for himself and claimed it. He sighed to himself as he tries to regain himself before anyone sees. Unfortunately the black messy hair leader saw him and walked up to him. The boy can tell who he is just by the hair color. “Uh, Jaden-Drake are you alright? You don’t seem as calm just like you were a few moments ago. You seem more uncomfortable.” The boy said while putting a hand on the shorter boy’s shoulder and looked at him with a concerned look. “What? Oh, yeah Akira I’m fine. Just wish I didn’t have to deal with this right now since I just transferred here in all. Also like I already said you don’t have to call me by my full first name” He tells Akira. Wish more and more for the infiltration to end so they can do the rest the next day.

Getting back to his zone Drake bent down and grabbed his sword. Swiftly pointing and the shadow regaining his serious expression. Surprised with his action the king chuckled. “I know who you are now. It should have been obvious from the start.” The Shadow began. “It’s nice seeing you again, Jaden-Drake. My little nephew.” He points at Jaden with a smug look on his face. Most of the whole group looked and the two. Jaden looked around trying to find a way out of the situation. While they were busy no one noticed that Xander was missing, He decided to sneak around trying to find the treasure.

Four times.

You sighed in irritation.

It’s four times on a week your notebook got swapped with someone’s else. Incredible. How can it be? Why can’t the class committee do their job more carefully? And besides…

You raised your eyebrow to neat the handwriting on the cover that reveal the owner of that book.

Who is this Hanamiya Makoto guy anyway…?

One time, two times, you can accept it to be accident. But four times and it repeated with the same person? There must be an explanation for it. That’s why instead of letting the class committee to fix their mistakes like before, you decided to face this ‘Hanamiya Makoto’ and ask for his side of story.

“Hanamiya-kun? Why?” Your friends voiced their surprise through their confused eyes. It’s rare for you, who seems to not care about anything else but books, to actually look for… real human being?

“I’m just curious.” You shrugged lightly, getting used to their ‘rude’ yet true words. It’s not uncommon for people to judge you, yet you couldn’t care less. You have friends and family who accept you, so? If there’s people who see you as problem, it’s theirs, not yours. “Come on, tell me. I have to get back my literature book or else I won’t be able to make it on time.”

You walked down the school corridor toward the basketball gym. It’s past school time that you finally got time to look for that certain someone. If you’re not wrong, he must still on his club activity.

“Hara pass! You’re holding the ball too long!”

“Okay, okay~”

Lively shouts coming from guys running full speed in their practice court. You’ve heard about how your school basketball team almost managed to enter WInter Cup only to get kicked out by seemingly newborn team. You had no interest at basketball and all those sports, yet… You raised your eyebrow.

“Captain you have someone looking for you.”

You waited patiently at the side of the gym when Furuhashi Koujirou, one of your classmate you managed to remember, called for the one you’re looking for. You didn’t have to wait long when a black haired guy approached you, kind smile on his face. “Ah, ___san right? Is there anything you need from me?”

Kind, gentlemanly and genius. That’s sort of conclusion you are able to make from your friends long compliment. Listening to their praises you can see why almost half of your classmates adore the guy. Hanamiya Makoto is a rare almost perfect guy you ever want to be your captain, friend or even… boyfriend.

“I just want to give this back to you.” You smiled giving back the book to its owner. “Sorry to trouble you, but can you give mine back tomorrow?”

“Ah, thank you ___san! I’m so relieved to find it again.” And of course I’ll bring yours back tomorrow. Is lunch time okay for you?“

Nodded with wide smile, you bowed slightly. “Then, I’ll take my leave now. Good luck with your practice. See you tomorrow Hanamiya-kun.”

“Thank you, ___san. I’ll be looking forward to it.” Hanamiya flashed you a perfect smile and you walked out.

“Oh, and before I forget.” Midway in your steps, you turned your head back. Smile in your lip, your eyes stare into his black one. “It’s quite annoying how you swapped our notebooks for fourth times now. But I’m quite impressed by how managed to persuade our stubborn class president to cooperate with your plan, so I think I’ll let it slide this time.”

“Wha…?” Hanamiya blinked.

“…and for suggestion, Hanamiya-kun.” You grinned. “Since you’ve gotten my attention now… You know I picked something interesting in how your team plays and I’m not quite fond of it. So please don’t think I will let it slide easily next time I see it. Hm, how should I say it, oh right. I’ll be watching your back, Hanamiya-kun.”

GIving him a last smile, you spring back to your steps out from that gym leaving Hanamiya standing still with book on his hand.

“Backfired huh?” Furuhashi commented from behind him.

“I never knew someone who noticed our team stategy only by watching it once.” Chewing on his gum, Hara laughed amusingly.

“So what are you going to do?” Seto asked at their captain who became silent since the girl walked by. “It’ll be bad if she-”

“Fufufu…”

“Hanamiya?”

“HAHAHAHAHA.” Kirisaki Daiichi’s basketball team stare at their captain in shock as Hanamiya suddenly laughed out loud.

“Watch my back huh? Fufufu. Interesting.”

He knew you’re different from first glance. It took special talent for someone who didn’t take interest to anyone but their books. Lost in your own worlds, Hanamiya’s been watching in interest how your expression tend to change endlessly only by burying your nose on thousand books of yours. That’s why. That’s the reason he willing to risk everything to make you notice him. To shift your undivided attention from your books to him. Yet from all that he expect… Seems like you’re much more than that. His hardwork is not a waste after all.

“Then let’s see then who’ll come as winner, ___chan. Let the game begin.”

IMAYOSHI SOUICHI

“…Imayoshi, you just got that look again on your face.”

Captain and vice captain of Touou high school basketball team were just studying on library, chatting lightly about their class subject when Susa noticed his friend’s attention was shifted to something, uh, no, someone else. Anyone else might not realize the meaning behind Imayoshi’s smile but Susa is his friend not for nothing.

“Hm? What is it? I don’t understand what you’re talking about Susa?”

“Ah well… if you say so.” Not that it means he has to say something. Only the guy knew what’s inside that brain of his. So if he didn’t want him to interfere, Susa won’t.

“Then I’ll take my leave here. Thanks for accompanying me.” Smiled Imayoshi tidied up his books, took off to where his eyes trained to.

You are sitting alone at your usual place near school garden. Since finding that here is the only place you can get your peaceful silent among your energetic (read: quite noisy) classmates, you prefer to spend your lunch time there. With those cute dandelion and these pretty little cosmos, you smiled inhaling the sweet scent of flowers around you. Your friends said you’re weird. Saying things that you appreciate them more than people in general. But you cannot help it. People are just too troublesome to handle with. Though if you speak about that, there’s something, no, no, someone. Someone who picked your interest lately…

“Whoa so the babies already born ___chan?”

“Imayoshi-kun!” You turned your head only to find your classmate, Imayoshi Souichi, pointed at the little cosmos that just started to blossom. Nodded you smiled brightly. “Yes! They’re so cute right?”

“Yes, yes. So cute~”

The way he said it with usual smile of his, making your cheek unbelieveablely warm.

It was all like magic really. How can you, who is very absorped in your own happy little world, get close to someone like Imayoshi. It started by a fateful day. The accident happen when you found out the book you’re borrowing from library got mixed up with an unknown guy. Too lazy to trade it back, you just brought it home and read it. The book is surprisingly good that you ended up reading it all. The person’s who supposed to borrow the book shown up the next day. With apologetic smile, Imayoshi asked if his book bore you. And that’s the beginning of your daily conversation with him. Meeting with him here to talk about books, you two exchanged promise to share if you find new interesting one. Now talking to him is as easy as speaking to your friends, not that 'friend’ can make your heart ran like this…

“Here it is Imayoshi-kun. Thank you for lending me this. It’s so amazing.” You took out thick book from your bag, giving it to him with wide smile. “The main character is so clever that he even able to set his strategist without anyone notice. It’s hard to believe there’s someone like that. He makes it look so easy to deceive person’s heart.”

“Ah I wonder, ___chan. But maybe it isn’t that hard to do so in the first place?”

“Huh? What do you me-”

“Anyway, here’s the final part of those books series.” Smile on his face, Imayoshi placed the said book on your hand. “Eh don’t underestimate it because it’s so thin ___chan. This is the most important of all, so read it with care okay?

Especially for the end part. I’ll be waiting for your opinion about it. Promise me okay ___chan~?”

Uh. Did you really see his eyes glint behind that glasses of his or…. “Sure. I’m looking forward to read it.”

Later that night, you hurriedly texted him, asking to meet him in order to give answer to his question that was written in bold neat letters at the end of that book.

'…Seems like it’s the perfect time so I’ll ask anyway~ Will you be mygirlfriend, ___chan?’

MIDORIMA SHINTAROU

“Morning, is there anything I can help? Ah you want this? Please wait a minute.”It’s just a beautiful Sunday morning. You just do your usual shift helping your family book store, when two pair of eyes eyeing you from across the street.

“You know, you could just talk with her like any of those guys do instead of playing this game right Shin-chan?” Takao muttered from where he hide behind Midorima’s tall figure.

“What nonsense are you talking about nanodayo? I’m just here to bring back ___’s book that got mixed up with mine again.” MIdorima sighed pushing up his glasses with frown. “It’s not like I want to visit her in weekend without any special reason.”

“Yeah, yeah I got it.” Takao’s grin said he knew exactly what is going on here. Who is he going to fool anyway? Midorima is a very bad liar after all. “So what are we waiting for? Let’s go Shin-chan!”

“Thank you for bringing it like always Midorima-kun. I’m sorry you always have to give it back to me.” Smiling sincerely at him, you bowed slightly.

“I-It’s no problem at all nanodayo. I just need mine for my school project.”Takao sweat-dropped at two persons in front of him. After trying so hard (for Midorima’s level) for that many times, he’s going to end it up just like this again? Takao knew him well. He always take things seriously and this is not an exception. He’s serious about you and those feeling are the reason why Midorima is willing to walk through baby steps. He’s not the type of person who shove his affection forcefully. He’s kind of guy who will wait for you to realize it yourself. One by one. Until both of your feelings connect each other naturally. But unfortunately (or fortunately) for him… Takao here is not that patient.

“Well then we’ll be go-”

“Whoa ___chan!“ Takao cut off Midorima’s words. "Your family store is so interesting! I never knew there’s book store like this on our neighborhood!”

“Ah thank you. I’m glad to hear it.” You smiled bashfully. This store is your family pride. Though how you had to sacrifice your free time to help around store instead of spending time with your friends making you looked distant and odd on your classmates perspective. That’s why meeting with your classmate, especially Midorima who you never talked with before in school day off is quite rare indeed. And it’s all just because of that coincidence, no, coincidences to be exact.

First time you realized your biology book disappeared, you were on full panic. With test coming up tomorrow, you’re desperately looking inside out your school bag. It did bring out big question when you just found out the book that doesn’t even belong to you. Have no other options, you studied and managed to pass the test with awesome mark. Midorima’s notebook is so neat and arranged that it took special talent not to understand it. Saying thanks to the guy who claims he had no idea either how their book got swapped each other, you’re just going to forget about the accident. But it seems like fate wants to speak different tale.

Two times, three times, even five times, the things repeated itself. And it certainly more than enough times for you to noticed him. Midorima is cold. He tend to speak only when its necessary and took everything almost too seriously. He’s not type of guy you got friend with, but after your fateful coincidence, you began to understand. His stubbornness. His diligence. And his desperately-tried-to-hide kindness. Slowly, yet steadily, you’re withdrawn to the guy whose notes helped you passing tests in big success.

Though his 'honesty’ still made you hesitate to make any assumption about his feeling on this matter…

“I don’t like any book in particular but… You know a lot don’t you Shin-chan? Ah then! How about we help you today? It surely more fun to do it together!”

"Eh?” You blinked as the situation got out of your hand before you realized it.

“Wha- What are you saying Takao?? It’ll be very rude to cause such bother in such busy times!”

“Ehh~ It’ll be fine! Besides this’ll be more efficient to keep eye on ___chan since her rank is the lowest today right Shin-chan?“

You tilted your head in wonder as Takao and Midorima seems debating something with those hushed whispers of theirs. "Guys…?”

“….I know you’ll agree Shin-chan!” Takao grinned triumphantly then turned to you. “Of course if you don’t mind___chan…?”

Midorima agreed…? Cheek heated, you shook your head. “Not at all…”

“Yosha! Come on Shin-chan! You helped ___chan while I handle those books okay? It’s fine, it’s fine. I can handle it on my own. You two just take your time~”

Well, though you had to ask them to move the huge panda statue Midorima brought in with him (that without your knowing, is your lucky item for the day), from getting in the way shop’s door, three of you managed to handle the shop for the day. And because of Takao who stubbornly asked, you cannot help but wait eagerly for next week when they’ll come to help again at your family store.

Maybe, just maybe… You’ll be able to tell him those feeling of yours then…?

NOTE: HAPPY HALLOWEEN! I'm off to do some spooktacular writing at a NaNoWriMo event, but thought I would do some updating first. Hope you all have a spine-chilling evening!

CHAPTER EIGHT

~ x JUDGMENT x ~

Sae Niijima was silent for a few long, painfully quiet seconds as Makoto's voice faded out in the small interrogation room. Staring across at her sister uncomfortably, hand at her chin as she mulled over the entirety of this situation.

"What?" Makoto finally asked.

"The way you described that…" Her eyes lowered. They were flinty and her tone harsh, but the words themselves vulnerable if listened to closely enough. "I think I've robbed you of a normal home environment. That might be why you're going down this path."

"And what 'path' is that?" She folded her hands on the table, sitting up straight. "The wrong one?"

"Yes. And no. Just… a more difficult one than I would have chosen for my baby sister."

The student council president's eyes darkened. "I'm not a baby."

"That wasn't what I meant and you know it."

"Maybe not. But it's how you've always treated me. I used to buy into that, you know; used to accept that I was a burden on you. But it's not true, is it? Because I do as much for our household as you do at my present status. Going to school is my job, and I'm great at it."

Teeth clenching, she fired back at her, "But it isn't a job that contributes to our household right now. Even if I may have been harsh with you, I need you to understand how difficult my life is, and why I let it drain me as much as I do. You think I want to be a public prosecutor because it's 'fun'? This is hard work, Makoto."

"Of course," she sighed wearily. "And I know that already. You don't have to shove it in my face every few days so I don't forget."

"That's… not what…" Sae turned away, staring into the corner. "Fine. So you're a lesbian now, hm? That easy? One little crush moment and you make up your mind to-"

"I don't want to hear that from you," she fired at her hotly. "No, this is not something I 'decided'. You taught me it doesn't work that way, and I'm not trying to make it work that way for me. Just figuring myself out."

Waving her hands, she said, "Alright, alright. Enough about that for now. You're honestly telling me that you and Sadayo Kawakami never had sexual relations in that love hotel room? How am I supposed to actually believe that?"

Makoto sighed, all the ire leaving her expression as she slumped down in her chair. "Because I'm your sister. But maybe you can't trust me anymore, Sis. I don't know."

"Well, you must see how it looks. And I would prefer to trust you than not to trust you, but you have made that quite a bit more difficult than it was before I found out more than I bargained for."

"Right. About that… I guess you're still waiting for me to get you caught up, aren't you? I might as well…"

Miss Kawakami left Hotel Juliet not long after that. I insisted several times that she should take the extra ¥1000 for all the trouble, even if not for the foot rub, but she refused very firmly. Despite how much she needed the money, it seemed she still wanted to earn every last yen. Which is just the kind of person she was.

No, I did not purchase her stockings. Why would anyone do that?

So now we had a problem. I knew a secret about her, and she knew one about me. Granted, neither of us was the type of person who would use it for blackmail purposes, but it still made us responsible for keeping each other's secret under wraps. it was going to make interacting with each other very interesting from then on.

But before that, I had something else to follow up with. Or should I say, someone else.

"How'd it go?!" Ann demanded the moment the phone line connected. "C'mon, gimme those deets!"

"Not here," I whispered. "Meet me at the Ore No Beko - the beef bowl place, on Central Street?"

"Mkay, I'll see you there!"

The walk wasn't terribly far. I felt stupid leaving the love hotel in my "guy" costume, so I ducked into an alley and stowed the rest in the shoulder bag I brought along exactly for that reason. The chest bindings were still annoying but I would just have to put up with them until I went to the bathroom again.

Not long after that, Ann showed up. Even despite the late hour, there she was. I began to feel really lucky that we had become that close in such a short period of time.

"Hey, girl," she called excitedly as she pushed through the crowd over to my corner. Now she was wearing a red varsity jacket over a blue button-up with a white skirt. Three guesses whether she looked cute wearing it. Go on, guess.

"Hi."

As she bounced into the seat next to me, I moved my tea out of the way. "Hoowee! I ran all the way to the train, and then all the way here from the station!"

"That sounds like you," I chuckled in a quiet voice.

"Huh? Oh, yeah, I guess so. There's hot gossip, right?" Something must have shown in my face, because she leaned a little closer. "Hey… Mako-chan, what's the matter?"

"We should order. And then I'll tell you everything."

We ordered. And then I told her everything - well, everything except the teacher's identity and details that would expose that on accident. Luckily, Beko only seemed to get busier at night instead of emptier, so nobody could really pay attention to our conversation over all the noise. Or wanted to, I'm sure.

Amazingly enough, Ann took it pretty well. She just sat there and nodded, listening and glancing away. Well… at least I thought she was taking it well. What if she just couldn't hear me?

"Cool… um, you think you might be gay?"

So much for her not listening. "No idea," I sighed - then we paused while the bowls were sat in front of us. They smelled amazing, and we both inhaled the savoury aroma of the seasoned meat deeply before we broke our wooden chopsticks apart and dug in. Ann had opted to forego the egg - which I know is because she's trying to watch her figure for modelling - but I felt like I needed it after the night I had. Comfort food.

"Hmmhggh," she sighed a couple of minutes later, once our bellies were half-full of rice and beef and onion. "Geeze Louise, that really hit the spot!"

My lips twitched into a smile. "What is 'geeze Louise'? I don't know that one."

"Just something from the States." Stirring her bowl and staring into its depths, she began, "So…"

"So?"

"Well… you're into this teacher now."

"Hey, I am not," I tried to head her off. "Well… not for sure. But she is pretty, and um… and I liked talking to her woman-to-woman, once we got past all the… other stuff."

Smirking as she leaned closer, she muttered, "She bathed you, huh? That's a lot of 'other stuff'. Plus that sexy footrub!"

"Since when are footrubs 'sexy'?!"

"C'mon," she chuckled as she took a sip of her aloe drink - another healthy choice. Made me feel really self-conscious about my melon soda, but at least I had some tea before she got there. "Footrubs are like, the truest expression of love, right? Anybody can kiss a cute girl or boy on the lips, but saying 'I like you so much I'm gonna touch your stinky feet to make you feel better' is just… the real shit! Totes selfless! Right?!"

Laughing weakly, I focused on my beef for a second or two, purely to avoid thinking too hard about whether or not she was right. Because if she was… a lot of the comments Kawakami made during and after the massage were even more telling than I thought. Which was bad.

Mistaking my silence for sadness, she sighed and put down her chopsticks. "Hey, I'm sorry. You're freaking out, right? I'd be freaking out."

"Well… it's a quiet freak-out."

"Uh-huh. Um… you said you don't know if this is just a weird thing or if it's really who you are. And like, I know in Japan it's 'weird' to like other girls, but it's not like that in the West! Like, what's her name? The one who was the spacy Disney fish… man, I can't remember right now. But she's a big gay icon, and she's had a wife for years! So it's like, real there, not a little kid thing."

I absorbed that as best I could through the filter of Ann's bubbly personality and meandering thought processes. "Yeah. Problem is, I am in Japan. Not over there. And here, people are going to think I'm either immature, or a pervert."

"I don't think you're a pervert." When I glanced over at her, those baby blues were burning holes right through me as she smiled. "You did this whole thing just to make sure she wasn't hurting that student, and to make sure she wasn't being hurt, either. Just because you ended up crushing on her… it's not a bad thing."

"No?" Screwing up my courage, or what I could find of it, I asked her, "You're not… uncomfortable?"

"Huh? No way! I mean, it's not like I had to watch you two or whatever."

"I meant sitting next to me. Knowing I might like girls."

"Oh." Her eyes glanced up and down. "Well… you might be a lesbian, but you're not a creep. Not all guys are Kamoshida, right? This is the same thing." Then she laughed and waved a hand back and forth as she added, "N-not that I'm saying all other lesbians are creeps! Probably none of 'em are! Like, I meant the opposite!"

"Okay, calm down," I chuckled, bumping her with my elbow. It worked; she relaxed a little, cheeks a tiny bit rosy. "But, um… thanks, Ann. Really. I can't even believe this is happening to me, and… I'm really relieved you're not upset that I'm… different."

Suddenly my face was being yanked around to look at her, so she was sandwiching my cheeks between both of her hands. "Mako-chan. Did you forget what our after school job is? Like, you wanting to make out with one of your teachers ain't that crazy."

"Ann…" It must have been the relief in my voice, because she gulped. "Hm?"

"Ooh… okay, it does make that sound a little different, though," she said nervously as she let go of my face. "Never had a gay girl say my name like that."

"I didn't say I was gay for certain!" I hissed at her. "Would you let me figure this out on my own?!"

Her head was already tilting thoughtfully. "Do you think that's what it's going to be what it's like when a boy finally asks me out, and he says my name as we stare into each other's eyes under the moonlight?"

"I'm not a boy!"

"You were for a few hours. And you still have no boobs right now!"

"ANN!"

By the time we had polished off our food and exited the restaurant, the topic of my burgeoning sexuality had gotten a little old. So we went back to discussing Miss Kawakami. The warm night combined with the warm food in our stomachs made us yearn for the cool underground of the subway station as we chattered back and forth.

"I wish I knew who it was," Ann sighed. "Especially… like, I keep wanting to guess. I stopped myself from doing it at least six times."

"Who would you guess?" I asked curiously as we jogged down the stairs. "I'm granting you permission now."

"Huh? Oh, um… well, I really can only think of Miss Chouno and Miss Kawakami. I don't think many of the other teachers could pull off a maid costume at all."

"O-oh?" I gasped, uncomfortable at how close she was.

"Well… Ms. Usami might be pretty cute behind those glasses. And with that wig you mentioned. Kinda hard to tell."

Relaxing just the tiniest bit, I said, "Okay. I was just curious who you would guess; I still promised not to tell anybody. Even though if I was going to tell, it would be you."

That might have been the biggest smile I ever saw on Ann Takamaki's face. And she regularly smiled bright enough to put the sun to shame.

"Thing is," she finally said as we waited for the train, "I still have no idea what to tell you. How are you supposed to actually go out with her if she's your teacher? I mean, in half a year you could ask her out for real; she wouldn't be your teacher anymore once you're off to university. Right?"

My eyebrows shot up. "Oh. Wow, I hadn't even… thought about that." Then I deflated, staring down at the dirty platform. "But isn't it still a little… unpleasant? Some eighteen-year-old crawling all over an adult?"

"I doubt you would 'crawl' on her like that," Ann laughed. "But I get what you mean. Just… I know this is some huge, brand new thing. You're still figuring it out. But if she ends up making you happy, then… you owe it to yourself to go for it! Don't let anybody tell you what you need besides your own heart!"

"Ann," I laughed. But the earnestness in her expression stopped me short. "Ann… you really think that? I should date my teacher?"

"Not 'your teacher'. You should date… Becky. Or whatever Becky's real name is - you don't have to tell me. But if you ever feel like you n-"

My hand pressed into her mouth. "Stop, stop. Thank you. But yeah, I guess I have a lot of thinking to do. What am I going to do about this situation with her working herself to death for those two awful people? That on top of me being attracted to her is… the whole thing is a mess."

"UGH! I wish I knew who it was - my advice would be better!" When I glared, she held up a hand, eyes closed. "Don't tell me. That wasn't me trying to get you to cave, just being frustrated that I can't help more."

"Sure, sure." Suddenly, I threw my arms around her. I wasn't used to doing that, but maybe it was time I started putting in more effort in that regard. "Thanks, Ann. You're an incredible friend."

After only a brief hesitation, she hugged back. "Hey, it's okay. I got you." There was no holding back because I might be gay, no jokes. Just firm acceptance. I couldn't have asked for anything more.

"Well, that is wonderful to hear," Sae sighed wearily, rubbing her temples. "But having a supportive friend doesn't answer the question at hand. We're supposed to be talking about the nature of your relationship with Sadayo Kawakami. If all you did was rub her feet once, then I suppose I can overlook any allegations of misconduct with a student under her care."

The younger Niijima shifted in her seat, trying to abate her tension and discomfort. "I was hoping you would do that anyway. As a favour to me."

"You know I can't do that. The law is the law, and you are one of her students. Even if you're old enough to decide for yourself who you date."

"I am?" she asked, genuinely surprised.

"Yes. I might be your legal guardian, but…" With a helpless shrug, she added, "All I can do is tell you it's unwise. After that, the choice is all yours."

"Dating women, or dating Sadayo?"

"Both. Unwise specifically because she's so much older than you, but also because she is a sex worker. Regardless," she rushed ahead when she saw Makoto was about to protest, "of whether or not her sexual activities in her job as Delivery Health maid are minimal, and rarely utilised. It's still not nothing, and you could wind up with an infection. You're my responsibility, and that includes making sure you don't get sick."

"Well…" Dipping her head, she admitted, "You have a point. And I do appreciate you looking out for me, Sis. But I would put my love for someone before any worry about risks like that. Not saying I 'love' Sadayo; just clarifying my priorities."

Sae picked up her pen and began clicking over and over. Just a nervous tick to help distract herself from being unduly upset. "Fine, fine. I suppose that's… admirable, in a foolish way. But as interesting as it is, I don't know why you bothered telling me about this conversation with Takamaki."

The truth was, she was jealous of the blonde. Ann got to freely and openly offer Makoto her support in a way Sae never could; she didn't get to be the 'big sister' anymore. Now she had to be her parent, until such a time as Makoto grew up and left the house - entered the workforce of Japan for real. Even then, she would probably always have to look out for her best interests for the rest of her life.

"It will be important later. And… I'm sorry."

Sae's eyebrow went up. "Sorry? For what?"

"That I can't simply let you believe all I've done with Sadayo is letting her bathe me and paying her back with a massage," she went on in a near-silent voice. "There's definitely more, and I promised you the whole story. So yeah, sorry about this in advance, but… I have to keep going."

Heart sinking down into the floor, she whispered, "Very well. Continue."
