Star Trek (s3e5, "Is There in Truth No Beauty?") / Diana Muldaur as Miranda Jones

In this episode, it appears the costumer has cleverly saved money and given the character's costumes a unifying look by using the same beaded net overdress with three different underlayers. In her first and final appearances, the underdress is made of green and blue printed fabric with cap sleeves coming to little points over the shoulder. Next is a sleeveless blue dress with a gathered neck; it is similar to the green dress from Mission Impossible that I featured recently, and this may not be a coincidence, as the relevant episodes of both shows aired in 1968. The final underdress is black with long sleeves.

Since each of the underdresses complements different colors in the beaded net layer, it really looks different every time!

ETA: I've been reminded that the overdress is actually a sensory net, as the character is blind. I admit I had forgotten that detail about its functionality. That's what I get for not taking the time to do a full rewatch when taking screencaps!

thinking about the lord of the night persona as a therapeutic tool for majima to process and cope with his trauma from the hole and his life afterwards. he essentially created a character who will grovel and humiliate himself to no end, who has no pride or dignity, because that is what majima has been doing since '85. but those things are an asset for the lord of the night. he turned what would have been an otherwise impossible-to-recover-from blow to his dignity and self esteem into profits. to regain some modicum of power, some control over his humiliation. calling the lord of the night persona necessary would be an understatement, it was downright lifesaving. and talk about resourceful. my god that man is nothing if not resourceful

Your stance on the Dunmeshi queerbait stuff is a bit selfish. Wanting this one manga to go exactly the way you want is a dangerous path - the way you phrase it is so entitled, making it clear it's not about consuming media about lesbians, but making one specific work suit exactly what you want. So many yuri mangas are written by sapphic women. It's a shame your stance is how it is.

And bastardizing the term queerbaiting does no good, either. Neither does the japanese manga market. You should research more before making such hurtful posts.

I mean, one of us certainly IS acting very entitled and weird about the media they like, and it ain't me. Like, I think you just have associated this piece of media with your own identity in an unhealthy way that makes you react to criticism of it with intense defensiveness. You don't own Dungeon Meshi. You aren't Marcille. Dungeon Meshi is NOT a yuri manga; it's a beautiful manga with either sapphic queerbait or a woefully underdeveloped queer relationship at its center.

Maybe if you had an argument besides "it does no good" to criticize it, but you don't. So.

anyway some notes:

a bit of xueyi 101 to start out jic - the atk orb and break rope are the standard for her; her break effect to dmg% conversion A2 trace makes quantum dmg a joke whereas her sources of atk are very limited. build-wise as this freaky puppetcore weirdgirl crit/break hybrid she wants it all rly; both crit, BE and atk, but prioritizing crit until some sort of 1:2 (guides tend to put 60/120 as the baseline) is key.

S5 aeon is perfectly fine and its what i used to have on her, i pulled indelible promise in order to end the custody battle over aeon between her and DHIL lmao (+ new gacha 4* LCs in hsr are like new 4* charas luckily - indelible promise after its initial release patch in 2.0 is now a permanent offrate on all banners except for beginner, phew). the crit on it is especially nice, rly hope i get spooked with some superimpositions in the future.

she shouldnt be on glamoth anymore really - this showcase is with her on spd boots (as you can see. duh) and she does reach the 135 spd for the 1st glamoth buff requirement when with RM (which is every time i play her) so its fine, but as i swap to atk boots when with sparkle im sure you can see why it would be... suboptimal. problem is. well. look at her rope. still havent managed to roll a comparable salsotto one so 💀 we live with this.

her relics are still a bit scuffed (chest and both her atk and spd boots are. fine. but could be better) but since i often have fx and sparkle patching up her crit its fine for now.

also yes i shouldve unlocked those last few quantum dmg and BE traces ages ago but its not rly that impactful when her dmg% is already as high as it is with the amount of BE i have on her so oh well x)

obviously given her dependence on break xueyis far from an universal dps - i only use her in heavily quantum weak fights (or in SU where u can get blessings to spam her ult for the weakness ignoring attack) but when she gets to shine she shreds So hard i love her sm 🥰🥰

Tristan - psy/der - is actually one of the most EFFICIENT and SUCCESSFUL spider-people . this is in large thanks to his superior spider-sense and telepathy, after all, it’s difficult for villains to defeat an opponent who knows their every thought & move . he’s EXTREMELY good at defeating his enemies, whether through battle or talking them down . he understands his opponents on a level many spider-people don’t, both in terms of their abilities and personal stories . his empathy is a big strength, as he’s been known to help several criminals and villains alike to get on the road to rehabilitation .

the ONLY reasons he’s less renowned and known is 1) doc ock, kingpin, and venom keep him from perfect success rates as he often is unable to fully capture/defeat them for personal reasons and 2) his extreme anxiety and natural affinity for staying in the background . by and large, he’d rather stay out of the spotlight, so he does his best to AVOID big missions or making a splash in any capacity . but overall, especially when it comes to his home universe, PSY/DER IS AN EXTREMELY SUCCESSFUL SPIDER-PERSON .

Iron-willed, ruthless, and terrifyingly stylish, Servalan was rarely seen in an outfit that wasn't either black or white. She particularly favored white in the first half of the series, perhaps as a contrast to her thoroughly villainous nature. This is one of her more adventurous looks, with what appears to be a gold mesh bodysuit underneath the two-part draped gown. The drapery of the dress itself gives a feel of half toga, half sari, while the fantastical standing collar suggests an Elizabethan ruff.

Help Mohamad reunite his family and clear his debt

I am reaching out on behalf of my dear friend, Mohamad S., who is facing one of the most challenging times of his life. Mohamad is 37 years old and left his homeland in 2015 in search of a safer and better future. He’s a kind, hardworking man, and his small family has always been his greatest priority.

Living abroad, Mohamad has recently endured unimaginable loss and financial strain. Amidst the ongoing conflict in his homeland, his mother passed away, leaving behind his sister and her five young children—the last remaining members of his immediate family.

As the situation worsened, Mohamad managed to help his sister and her children escape to safety in Egypt, covering their immediate needs and securing a temporary refuge for them. Since then, he has been fully responsible for providing everything they need to survive during this transition.

In his efforts to support his family and cope with this devastating loss, Mohamad has found himself deeply in debt. To make matters even more difficult, he recently underwent knee surgery, which limits his ability to return to work for the foreseeable future. This has made it even harder for him to manage his financial responsibilities and the pressing need to provide his family with a stable future.

Mohamad is now working to bring his sister and her five children to join him in Belgium, where he hopes they can find stability and opportunity after all they’ve endured. This transition, however, requires significant resources that he is currently unable to meet alone.

For privacy reasons, we are not sharing Mohamad’s full name, as he has chosen to keep his identity discreet. While he initially refused the idea of asking for help, I couldn’t stand by and watch him struggle alone. I insisted on doing this for him because he deserves a chance to overcome these challenges and provide a stable future for his family.

Your contribution will help Mohamad repay the debt incurred during this difficult time, cover ongoing living expenses for his family, and assist with the costs involved in bringing them safely to Belgium.

One of many pieces of information rarely discussed that has stuck with me in studying the Holocaust in a literacy class is that people who survived the death camps often did not survive starvation. It is very difficult for a severely malnourished body to recover from starvation. A severely malnourished body will struggle to process food at all, and many people die in the process of “refeeding.” This is called refeeding syndrome for this reason. Reintroducing food can and often is fatal without careful, medical guidance.

Starvation is one of the most common and effective forms of genocide. What makes it effective is that past a certain point, even if aid has been delivered, it is not enough to save someone from death by starvation. What also makes it effective is that withholding food is viewed as a passive consequence of political turmoil rather than an intentional act of violence among a people. You will see more people die from starvation in genocides across history because it is an effective way to kill many people without the use of state resources.

The starvation of Gaza is intentional. The United States and Israel may gesture that they are delivering or allowing aid into Gaza, but in reality they are active participants in the starvation of Gaza by destroying medical infrastructure, limiting the amount of aid “allowed” in, and blocking aid trucks from entering. Throwing food into Gaza by airdrop at this point in the genocide will not be enough without medical infrastructure to refeed a severely malnourished population. Many will die anyways. Many have already.
