One of many pieces of information rarely discussed that has stuck with me in studying the Holocaust in a literacy class is that people who survived the death camps often did not survive starvation. It is very difficult for a severely malnourished body to recover from starvation. A severely malnourished body will struggle to process food at all, and many people die in the process of “refeeding.” This is called refeeding syndrome for this reason. Reintroducing food can and often is fatal without careful, medical guidance.
Starvation is one of the most common and effective forms of genocide. What makes it effective is that past a certain point, even if aid has been delivered, it is not enough to save someone from death by starvation. What also makes it effective is that withholding food is viewed as a passive consequence of political turmoil rather than an intentional act of violence among a people. You will see more people die from starvation in genocides across history because it is an effective way to kill many people without the use of state resources.
The starvation of Gaza is intentional. The United States and Israel may gesture that they are delivering or allowing aid into Gaza, but in reality they are active participants in the starvation of Gaza by destroying medical infrastructure, limiting the amount of aid “allowed” in, and blocking aid trucks from entering. Throwing food into Gaza by airdrop at this point in the genocide will not be enough without medical infrastructure to refeed a severely malnourished population. Many will die anyways. Many have already.

Never forget that Israel launched a terrorist attack on the village of Tantura in May, 1948. All villagers were rounded up at gunpoint, and the men and teenage boys were led away by the Israeli soldiers. All 40 innocent men and boys were brutally executed, and their widows and children and siblings were kicked out of their homes with only what they could carry. Those lucky enough to survive the cruelty of the barbaric israeli soldiers report seeing them dump the bodies of their loved ones into a mass grave.
That mass grave is now the parking lot of a luxury beach resort in "Israel."
Despite multiple eyewitnesses and evidence of a massacre, the IDF terrorist organization vehemently denied any massacre taking place, calling the victims liars. As they denied, israeli settlers parked their luxury vehicles on the remains of innocents slaughtered by their military so they could go sunbathing.
In 2023, after being commissioned by a human rights organization, the forensic architecture research unit at London's Goldsmiths College undertook a full investigation of the parking lor, and FOUND CONCLUSIVE EVIDENCE THAT IT WAS BUILT ON TOP OF A MASS GRAVE. Conclusive evidence that Israel LIED, and that they WERE responsible for the massacre.
But of course, before holding Israel accountable for its crimes against humanity, we must denounce the actions of their desperate victims they've been standing on the necks of for 75 years. Aparthied propaganda in action; evidence only matters if it makes the brown guy look worse than us.
Google the Tantura massacre for more information. The evidence of Israeli war crimes is undeniable.

the word zionist / zionism.
To preface, these are my own thoughts and beliefs. I am not making this post to bash any writers on this platform because I believe enough of that is already happening. This post is rather being made to spread awareness of what I believe is going on.
The word Zionism in my own terms, if I were asked to describe it in front of people, would be the belief of the ethnic cleansing of Palestine and ridding Palestinians of their own home. If i were asked as a muslim to describe it, my answer would be different. The answer I would give would be the ethnic cleansing of palestine and ridding palestinians of their own home because they are muslims. In short, killing muslims in the benefit to ethnic cleansing. Now that the term has been defined I think most can agree why this term is so loaded, the term in itself has connotations to islamophobia and many muslim mutuals of mine agree that this term is heavy and loaded.
To accuse someone of being a zionist (someone who follows zionism) is a hefty statement and can be plausible if the correct evidence has been provided. That isn't the case from what I’ve seen though. Two of my close mutuals have been accused of being as such by other writers. Seeing as I am muslim and I believe, muslims more than anyone have more reason to believe who is and who is not a zionist, I decided to message them myself.

This conversation ended rather quickly because I blocked the person, okwonyo, involved. To accuse a muslim of being a zionist is one thing, but to claim that “being muslim has nothing to do with this” is another. Calling people zionists is not something that can be brushed past so easily and the only evidence being that the person involved had a Lana Del Rey song as her fic title? To put it simply, it shows where your real activism lies and that is to villainize others for no reason.
I agree, supporting zionism is bad, I agree with that more than anyone. But to focus on such a miniscule detail when you claim to want better for palestine, well that defeats the whole purpose. If this writer and their mutuals claim that this is an act of zionism then let's open up a case. If having your fic title as a lana del rey song is equated to being a zionist, then writing for enhypen or any other kpop group makes you one as well.
According to this writer's logic, if writing any sort of fic related to a song by a zionist makes you one, then writing for kpop idols under zionist companies makes you just as bad. You cannot have your cake and eat it too. You cannot stream enhypen or other kpop groups if you claim that you can't separate art from the artist, well then your genre of kpop is gone as a whole along with other musicians you like such as ariana grande, taylor swift, the weekend, and billie eilish, to name some.
My point here is that if you claim that you can't separate art from the artist, then hold that same candle to your own favs, kpop or otherwise. This was never about the lana del rey fic title but rather about the fact that your activism will only matter to you when you want to villainize someone for something. I have seen performative activism and this is a call out to ALL writers and not just one.
If you want to sit behind your screen and accuse zionism on someone, then go and use a genocide to paint them as a villain to your band of supporters, you are wasting time. Time is being wasted every second you do this to someone (surprisingly enough it didn't happen once) and instead if you claim that you care so much about Palestine then go out and do something about it. Like I said previously, go donate, attend rallies and protests, support your local mosques, boycott things that REALLY matter. If you would do these things rather than blindly attacking someone for no reason and accusing them of being part of such a disgusting group of people, you would be doing a lot more for palestine.
If I were to be honest, all I see from fellow writers on this app is performative activism. I have grown up knowing the genocide occurring in palestine and I have always attended protests and donated funds for as long as I can remember. I am not saying that you are lacking if you don’t do these things, but to only bring up this genocide when you want to attack someone, that is the real issue. You cannot just add a link in your bio or pinned for the sake of your followers. If you are not constantly talking about or spreading awareness for this terrible genocide that’s been occurring since the 1940s then you are a part of the problem.
This genocide does not only exist on your phones. To sit behind a screen and only talk about it then, it diminishes all the activism you have and liquifies you to what you are and that is a performative activist. Once again, performative activism has never been cute and if this genocide only exists in the bounds of trying to villainize others, then you are just as bad as the group you claim to be so far against.

The Flour Massacres. The weapon of starvation. The children dying of malnutrition. The Isra*li telegram channels mocking the photos of the child crushed by a tank and the girl who lost her legs. The settlers already stealing land in the north. You need to BE somewhere this weekend. There are nationwide protests happening tomorrow (March 2, 2024) and there is most likely one in your city. There are also several car rallies and such on Sunday in most major metro areas. You can find information about your city’s protest through the Palestinian Youth Movement

Medo Halimy was a Palestinian blogger on TikTok with millions of views and over 100 thousand followers. He vowed to plant every day until the genocide was over. I’ve only been following him for a short time, but his videos were always uplifting and hopeful in such a bleak environment created by the IOF.
Today, I’ve seen several posts like this now state that he succumbed to wounds he sustained in an IOF attack. I’m devastated and heartbroken over this loss. His account is still up. Please consider watching his videos and donating to his family. The cruelties seem to never end, but we can carry on his mission to give Palestine a better future.

[...] The International Olympic Committee, FIFA, UEFA, FIBA, and other sports organisations are complicit as they allow a continuous participation of the occupying apartheid regime in their events. Following a swift response and an instant suspension of Russia, it is now difficult for them to justify turning a blind eye to the Israeli government’s actions.
We must however take heart from history and support the liberation of Palestine as generations before us brought apartheid to an end in South Africa. That struggle took on all possible dimensions, with one of the earliest being suspension of sporting ties – which aided in peacefully isolating the South African regime, demonstrated a global rejection of apartheid and changed domestic perspectives in the country.
This act must now be extended to Israel – not only due to its practice of settler-colonialism, military occupation, ethnic cleansing, genocide, apartheid and illegal exploitation of natural resources on occupied territories – but also due to its brutal assault on cultural, academic and sporting life of the Palestinian society.
We thus urgently demand:
An immediate suspension of Israel from participation in all international sports until it fully complies with international law and sports regulations
For global and European sports governing bodies to immediately uphold their statutory obligations – especially their own rules on human rights and non-discrimination given Russian, South African and other precedents. This would include, inter alia, a ban on Israel competing at the 2024 Paris Olympics, UEFA’s European Championship and FIFA’s World Cup.
For a deeper analysis on the rationale to suspend Israel from international sports, please review this paper (also available in Spanish) that will be sent to sports organisations.

The End of Apartheid in South Africa: A Garveyite Perspective on Liberation, Betrayal, and Economic Neo-Colonialism
The end of apartheid in South Africa in 1994 was celebrated as a historic victory for Black liberation, symbolizing the triumph of resistance against one of the most brutal systems of racial oppression. However, from a Garveyite perspective, while political apartheid ended, economic apartheid remained intact, and South Africa’s so-called freedom was compromised by neo-colonialism, Western economic control, and the failure to implement real Black self-determination.
Marcus Garvey’s teachings emphasized that true liberation is not just about removing racist laws, but about complete self-reliance, economic sovereignty, and African control over African resources. This analysis will explore:
How apartheid functioned as a system of white supremacy and economic domination.
The role of the Pan-African and global Black resistance movements in ending apartheid.
Why did the transition to democracy not dismantle white economic power.
How Garveyism offers a blueprint for true Black liberation beyond political independence.
1. Understanding Apartheid as a System of White Economic Control
Apartheid (1948–1994) was not just about racial segregation—it was a system that ensured that white settlers controlled South Africa’s land, economy, and resources, while the Black majority was kept in a state of poverty, dependency, and political subjugation.
A. The Roots of Apartheid in European Colonialism
South Africa was first colonized by the Dutch (1652) and later by the British (1806), who stole African land and exploited indigenous labour.
The discovery of gold (1886) and diamonds (1867) turned South Africa into an economic goldmine for European powers, leading to increased oppression of Black labourers.
The Union of South Africa (1910) legally institutionalized white minority rule, denying Black South Africans any political representation.
Example: The 1913 Natives Land Act restricted Black people to only 7% of South Africa’s land, forcing them into overcrowded reserves while white settlers controlled the most fertile land.
B. The Economic Structure of Apartheid: Black Labor, White Wealth
Apartheid ensured that whites controlled the economy while Black South Africans were exploited as cheap labour.
Black workers were banned from skilled jobs and forced into low-paying labour in mines, farms, and factories owned by whites.
Pass laws required Black South Africans to carry identity documents and restricted their movement, ensuring their role as economic slaves.
Education was designed to keep Black South Africans in a permanent underclass, with Bantu Education ensuring that they would never compete with whites for jobs.
Example: The Chamber of Mines and companies like De Beers built enormous wealth from Black labour, yet paid workers barely enough to survive.
Key Takeaway: Apartheid was not just racism—it was an economic system that ensured white wealth and Black poverty.
2. The Role of Global and Pan-African Resistance in Ending Apartheid
Apartheid did not end because white South Africa had a change of heart—it was dismantled due to decades of Black resistance, Pan-African solidarity, and international pressure.
A. The Internal Resistance: Armed Struggle and Mass Protests
The African National Congress (ANC), Pan Africanist Congress (PAC), and other liberation movements led armed resistance and mass uprisings.
The 1960 Sharpeville Massacre exposed the brutality of apartheid to the world, leading to intensified anti-apartheid activism.
The 1976 Soweto Uprising, led by Black students protesting against Afrikaans-language education, sparked mass movements demanding an end to apartheid.
Example: The Umkhonto we Sizwe (MK), the armed wing of the ANC, launched guerrilla attacks against the apartheid regime to destabilize white rule.
B. The Role of Pan-Africanism in Supporting South Africa’s Liberation
Kwame Nkrumah (Ghana), Julius Nyerere (Tanzania), and other Pan-African leaders provided military training, weapons, and safe havens for South African freedom fighters.
The Organization of African Unity (OAU) and anti-apartheid movements worldwide pressured Western nations to cut ties with South Africa.
Cuba’s military intervention in Angola (1975–1988) helped defeat the apartheid-backed South African army, shifting the balance of power in Southern Africa.
Example: Nelson Mandela received military training in Algeria and Ethiopia, proving that South African liberation was part of a broader Pan-African struggle.
Key Takeaway: Apartheid was not defeated by negotiations alone—it was destroyed by Pan-African unity and decades of Black resistance.
3. The Betrayal of Economic Liberation: The Illusion of Freedom
While apartheid legally ended in 1994, South Africa’s economy remained under white and Western control, proving that political independence without economic liberation is meaningless.
A. The ANC’s Compromise with White Capitalists
Instead of redistributing land and wealth to Black South Africans, the ANC negotiated a deal that left white economic power untouched.
Multinational corporations and white-owned businesses continued to dominate South Africa’s economy.
The land stolen during apartheid was never returned to Black South Africans in any meaningful way.
Example: As of 2024, white South Africans (only 7% of the population) still own over 70% of private farmland, proving that economic apartheid still exists.
B. The Continued Economic Enslavement of Black South Africans
South Africa’s economy is still dominated by white-owned banks, mining companies, and multinational corporations.
Millions of Black South Africans remain in poverty, trapped in low-wage jobs or unemployment.
Foreign debt and reliance on the IMF and World Bank prevent South Africa from pursuing true economic independence.
Example: Despite being “free,” millions of Black South Africans still live in informal settlements with no access to basic services, while white suburbs remain wealthy.
Key Takeaway: Apartheid ended politically, but white economic control remains intact through neo-colonialism and capitalist exploitation.
4. The Garveyite Solution: True Liberation Beyond Political Independence
From a Garveyite perspective, South Africa’s struggle is not over. Real freedom requires:
Complete Land Redistribution – White-owned land must be returned to Black South Africans.
Nationalization of Natural Resources – South Africa’s gold, diamonds, and minerals must be controlled by Africans, not foreign corporations.
Pan-African Economic Unity – South Africa must trade with Africa, not rely on Europe and the U.S.
Black-Owned Banks and Industries – Financial independence is key to breaking the cycle of white economic domination.
Political Leadership that Prioritizes Black Self-Determination – South Africa must reject corrupt politicians who serve white corporate interests.
Example: Thomas Sankara’s Burkina Faso and Julius Nyerere’s Tanzania attempted economic self-reliance—South Africa must follow this model.
Final Takeaway: The struggle against apartheid was only the first step—South Africa will never be free until it controls its land, wealth, and economy.
Conclusion: The Struggle Continues
The end of apartheid was a step forward, but it was not true liberation. South Africa remains economically enslaved to white capital and Western imperialism. The next phase of the struggle must focus on:
Dismantling economic apartheid through land and wealth redistribution.
Rejecting Western neo-colonial control over South Africa’s economy.
Strengthening Pan-African alliances to build economic independence.
As Marcus Garvey warned, political freedom without economic power is a deception. South Africa must finish the revolution—only then will true liberation be achieved.
