Jun Wu from Heaven Official’s Blessing (TGCF)

Submission: This is MAJOR SPOILERS for Heaven Official's Blessing- but as for his crimes, just like. All his actions as Bai Wuxiang were so iconic. Jun Wu was so single mindedly focused, he manipulated so many people and brought so much death, destruction, and despair to ruin Xie Lian's life and to turn him into a Calamity like himself. It's the dedication to the bit for me, he wiped everything from his disastrous past and became emperor of heaven. Jun Wu had all of the heavenly court fooled and under his thumb for centuries and played the part of the caring mentor/father figure to Xie Lian all while gladly placing the cursed shackles on him.

Submissions: Character of all time. He's done a lot of crimes, but I'll just mention that one time he put a guy in a cage, poured boiling water on him, and sliced off his skin piece by piece while he was still alive.

The only supervillains on that show that understood the assignment. Thieves with a flare and loyal only to eachother. Eventually become anti heroes on legends of tomorrow but I liked them best as villains. The best part of both shows. Over the top and committed to the theme for the vibes. Puns and crime.

They're so married!!! The domesticity oh my god they live together and they sleep in the same bed and they're worried if the other isn't here when they wake up and they take care of each other when they're sick. Sorry, the latest issue was a lot. Anyway, the crime-doing part. They're both officially criminals and they're wanted in quite a few countries for various reasons: in Russia they killed A Lot of people in various bloody and/or arson-y ways (most famously rich corrupted people, which only antagonists can do) and blew up some stuff (which also killed a lot of innocent people) and kidnapped other innocent people just to get revenge on one guy who was just doing his job (the cop who got Sergey in prison while Oleg was out of the country) (and technically Oleg breaking Sergey out of prison is also a crime, on top of all his solo mercenary stuff). In Italy they also killed people and also broke countless laws (you can even count building safety laws in here for fun), in Mexico (honeymoon!) they had a run-in with the local mafia and that also ended bloodily, in a few other countries they were mostly just evading the law but you can't really do that without breaking other laws. They stole at least one helicopter (after killing the soldiers in it). And that's all *before* the current series. In that one they're coercing someone into becoming a vigilante (an already wanted by the law vigilante), and they're trying not to do so much public things, because they like being presumed dead and not being on the run. But that doesn't stop them from bloodily killing anyone who threatens them or Lera (the med student under the new Plague Doctor costume) or their plan, or defending themselves (by killing people) when the consequences of their past actions come around (does it even count as legitimate defense when you kill almost all the henchmen of the guy who wants to kill you because years ago his parent was an unfortunate victim of your beef with someone totally unrelated? Not sure). And yes *technically* they're killing other criminals, but also they are much worse criminals themselves (as said on- page by a secondary character who was trying to kill them because of, well, all the past terrorism / murder).

They're widely considered to be the worst people in a town full of criminals. A lot of people want to kill them, because of all the murders they did earlier. In all their appearances they're either the most married couple of a series that also has real married couples, or extremely efficient killers who don't have a qualm disposing of everybody else's henchmen.

CALENTURE

cal·en·ture /ˈkalənˌCHər/ noun feverish delirium, in which sailors afflicted by it imagine the sea as a field of green grass in which they try to leap into and run across, supposedly caused by the heat in the tropics.

Something weird to start off March lmao. The result of me reading too deep into a joke and connecting it to something serious. Warframe 1999 spoilers inside!

This also came out surprisingly quickly. Not that I'm complaining.

This is based off of Warframe 1999/Hex spoilers, so I'll be putting all of those under a cut.

With the reveal of the next batch of Protoframes (Frost, Saryn, Nova, Temple), and that the Frost and Saryn are a (shaky) couple and the adoptive parents of Neci Rusalka, I saw some people do jokes about cold and toxin making viral and in-turn Neci being a viral-based Protoframe. Bouncing off of that, I saw some people do jokes about her possibly being Proto-Dagath, and one person did a joke about making a hole in her face. That talk about faces and losing them reminded me of one of Eleanor's KIM chats, where she talks about having tried to read Neci's mind and finding...

Not Neci.

Spoilers for the Hex quest: Neci's possessed by the Man In the Wall. Eleanor described trying to read possessed Neci's mind like:

"...as if my fingers touched her face and went right through. The mask just collapsed. What was underneath was like��� There’s a word. ‘Calenture.’ It’s a kind of madness that used to affect sailors. They’d become convinced that the green sea all around them wasn’t water at all, but green grass.

They'd be compelled to jump from the ship down into the beautiful green meadows and go running across them. If a shipmate held them back, they’d fight. I jumped, expecting grass. Next second I was in over my head in the freezing dark."

And, after realizing that it's Wally directly:

"I've touched that thing with my mind. I thought I’d be probing Rusalka’s mind, but… the outer layers just caved in like wet, spongy plasterboard and then I was immersed in it. Floundering."

Going straight through her face, like a flimsy mask, the face ripped from her by another... Hmmm...

I also noticed that her had also slightly resembles Dagath's weird "hair"... if you squint... lmao.

So yeah, have this weirdness.

I made her body a silhouette with a hollowed-out face/head (a-la Dagath), the silhouette colored with the scene of a green, blooming field (specifically the one shown on the Pom-2 computers' desktops, the sky of which also resembled a Spiral in Duviri, which was made real by the Void) to go along with the "calenture" thing 83. The Man in the Wall is also known as "the Lidless Eye", so I put both a pained Neci's eye and very harsh, unnatural "Void" eyes that extend forever and both in front and behind her like a video game bug. The "Void" eyes were influenced, aesthetics-wise, by corru.observer (btw PLAY CORRU.OBSERVER [as long as you aren't photosensitive]), which also has major themes around eyes (i.e. imagery associated with the ever-capricious Obesk deity Velzie).

as much as the argument of 'aros can still date/aces can still have sex' is important to keep in mind because of technicalities and the people who those stamensts do apply to, something i always felt is it slowly starts sounding a lot like 'hey we're not like totally weird and unlike the rest, like some of us still do The Thing okay? we totally still can do The Thing! not so different after all!' and that always made me feel a bit icky. like as if you're trying to justify the identities even existing in the first place, as if you're bargaining

asexuality and aromanticism are both meaningful identities and deserving of recognition and respect, regardless of if they can still replicate or engage in expected societal frameworks of behaviour
